it's kinda sad really but based on the poll, not a lot of people know about luna snow, white fox, aero, wave, etc! which is a shame because, genuinely, they’re really interesting characters!

sure, some of them has only appeared in one series or doesn’t even have a solo run, but here’s a quick rundown of a couple of asian supes that i think you all should know and love because its aapi and im a proud asian <3

Luna Snow

Seol Hee is a K-pop star who gains ice powers after a rather disastrous debut. In 4L1T, the group she’s in, she was dubbed as Luna (aka her idol name) which became her official hero name! Interestingly, she does occasionally save the world while juggling her idol life. Truly an icon. Also, fun fact! She has an official spotify and released songs so go stream!

Lin Lie

Lin Lie was a young man from Shanghai when his father gave him the sword of Fu Xi. The mystical sword dispels demons and its goal is to stop Chiyou from re-emerging. After several fuck ups in DODS: White Fox, the sword shattered and Lie was tossed into a cliff. We learn after a while that he did not die, in fact he got revived by the chi of Shou-Lao which grants him the Iron Fist.

Pearl Pangan

Pearl Pangan grew up by the beach on Mactan Island in Cebu, Philippines. She loved the sea and became a really good swimmer, having the potential to win the Olympics. However, obstacles in life turned her aside from that path. She was approached by AlonTech who used Pearl’s swimming abilities to conduct experiments on her. AlonTech was eventually attacked by the Triumph Division and during this attack, Pearl was exposed to several unknown energies which granted her the ability to control water.

Dan Bi is the daughter of an antique shop owner. One day after Tae Kwon Do class, she returned home to see her father's shop in ruins, her father nowhere to be found. Bounty hunters entered the building and hearing them, she hid under a bed, finding the mask that contained Io. On the quest to search for her father, Dan Bi went after the buyer of an artefact, leading her to Jimmy Woo, who recruited her into the New Agents of Atlas. Keep in mind she’s like 11 or something.

Lazarus, Domino’s little brother is back but this time as a teenager, yep, here, he’s 15. So, this is sort of an epilogue pic of Lazarus’ life after his final appearance. Yep, Marvel indirectly confirmed the boy is still alive, so, Beatrice (which is his and Domino’s evil mom btw, the lady with the sword who should’ve been dead. Yep, Domino shot her and she lost A LOT of blood, enough to kill a human. But she survived, proving my theory that Domino is half demon because only supernatural beings can survive things that can easily kill humans) was likely put in prison and she a lot of charges that will put her prison FOR LIFE, she abused and neglected her youngest child (child abuse/neglect), she put him in situations that are very harmful (child endangerment), and tried to kill him twice (attempted murder). And she got him from the orphanage that she took Domino to as a newborn, Domino put her tiny brother there. So, the last we know is that he’s in an orphanage and his demon mom is likely in prison for life. We don’t know if he stayed there or got adopted because Marvel hates families.

But in my speculation, the whole story was on the news and it caught, Great Lake Avengers member, Doorman’s attention because he recognized the figures on the news, they are from his repressed memories. Yep, I truly believe Doorman is Domino and Lazarus’ biological father and he actually remembers both Domino and Lazarus being born but he left when Lazarus was only 3 days old because he saw the horrific things Beatrice was doing to him and she was even doing unforgivable things to her husband, Doorman so he abandoned her because he couldn’t take it anymore. He moved to Milwaukee and stored all the pictures he had of Beatrice and his children in a tin Captain America lunch box he owned as a kid. Anyway, after seeing the news, he pulled the lunch box out and went through the photos, the little boy resembled the frail baby boy laying in his hospital crib, the baby did not look very happy and was just staring into space. The baby was Lazarus just moments after being born so Doorman knew what he had to do, go to the orphanage, adopt his son, and be the father his son needed. So, he took him to Milwaukee with him to raise him. And of course, since this fanart takes place in the Marvel universe now, Lazarus is now 15 and a bitter but kind and introverted teenager, his father raising him paid off in the long run. He also grew out his hair and has blue highlights. However, as you can see, he’s with Beetle, that’s because in my fanon, the Great Lake Avengers got bigger because they’re kind of boring by themselves and I had Doorman marry Beetle. And I changed Beetle’s suit to match Ant-Man and the Wasp’s MCU suits.

And Lazarus, at the tender age of 15, now babysits for extra money and the baby he’s he has with him is the baby he babysits very often, Crescent. In my fanon, Crescent is a baby because that’s how I see her. She’s a baby protected by a ghost bear, Lo. And Lazarus babysits her very often for her single father. He loves her and often unloads on her, Lazarus tells her his deepest darkest secrets and thoughts because she’s a baby, she’s too young to tell everyone and she wouldn’t care or remember. Sometimes Doorman or Beetle worries about what their son is telling this baby but Lazarus does not see a problem with it. “Dad, she is only 5 months old! She can’t talk, all she does is sit there, cry, and poop herself, she won’t care.” He also uses his pathokinesis sometimes to stop her from crying and put her to sleep.

Anyway, just a sweet little fanart of what think Lazarus has been up to lately.

New agents of Atlas’ daemon

Recently I watched the dark materials and completely fell in love with the concept of daemons and the bond that exists between a daemon and their partner. I suppose this comes from a previous obsession of trying to determine what spirit animals one would have, which inevitably led me to thinking of what daemons the agents of atlas would have. 

Jimmy Woo: A crow, now why? First of all the crow is an animal that is often associated with secrets and magic, the former fits Jimmy. But aside from that, while normally thought of as solitary, crows do form groups that are fiercely protective of each other, in fact, when one of their group is killed/dies they often investigate to find out who/what did it to take action or stay away. An analytical approach that I feel fits him very well. Aside from that, they’re misunderstood creatures thought of as cruel, when in reality if you befriend a crow they can be a close friend and incredible ally, being one if not the most intelligent bird species. Another one I thought of as plausible would be the raccoon for similar reasons, and also cause it’d be funny. Other options I considered were: wolf and pidgeon 

Shang chi: I’ve thought of several different options. First of all we have the lynx, it’s solitary nature is one that would fit shang chi well, who while doesn’t mind company, I feel is a more solitary creature then others. Other then that due to their large ears lynxes are often thought of as the knowers and keepers of secrets, learning secrets in their silence. They’re over all creatures that are fierce, skilled and good listeners, but I wasn’t fully convinced of it. The other option was the eastern barn owl, symbols for wisdom, protection and good luck. Owls are also silent and deadly predators, being able to fly soundslessly through the night, making them extremely efficient when hunting for prey. Other options I considered: seal, leopard and tiger. 

Amadeus Cho: Ironically enough, a coyote I feel is an animal that would fit him well. Similarly to the fox they’re ingenious and smart animals able to survive and attack other animals to survive. Aside from that, they can survive alone, in family groups or with other coyotes, which I feel fits Amadeus’ tendency of hanging out with many different people. Aside from that, coyote’s have also been shown to collaborate with badgers (who they normally hate due to hunting the same prey), which shows a willingness to work with others or form friendships in unlikely places, which very much matches the super genius. Other animals I considered: rat and dolphin. 

Lin Lie: Now, Lin Lie has changed a bit, but I think a tiger would fit him. The core characteristics of a tiger, courage, determination and stubbornness fit him well. Lin Lie is a boy who has been through a lot but has kept his character out of a mix of strength and stubbornness he keeps pushing forward, sometimes being unwilling to listen to others, due to pride or simple stubbornness in a way that fits him (there’s also some extra points due to him being born in the year of the tiger ;p ). Aside from that, I feel like a tiger shark would also fit him well, in the sense of its strength again but also that it can be interpreted that they move forward always and the fact that certain species are quite friendly and can actually form groups and coexist with other sharks of different species quite well. Other animals I considered were: Cockroach (this a bit as a joke since he seems to be surviving things where he reallly shouldn’t, also they’re tough as hell and will keep living out of pure spite) and a cat

Ami Han: Now, hear me out, but the horned lizard would be a good fit for her. Horned lizards are know and symbolise strength both physical and mental, and of self reliance. Lizards in general are animals that can go through hell and still survive, living in some of the most extreme environments and persevering. In china they are also often related to the dragon, connecting her to the more mystical parts of her story. However, they aren’t purely cold and solitary creatures, and they can also symbolise love and life persevering, which are two core values that keep this character going. Other animals I considered were: the snow leopard, tarantula and a mongoose. 

Dan Bi: Dan bi is a cheerful and dutyful character who honestly hasn’t appeared much. My first instinct is to associate her with a collie dog, bright and energetic creatures known for their loyalty, but also knwon for being able to show dominance and being good sheep herders, being one of the preferred dog species to do so. This without the need of an overly attentive watch, whihc reflects their somewhat independent nature and reliability which fit her quite well I think. Other animals I considered for her: red panda (not only because of io, but because apart from their cuteness they can be very vicious) and kangaroo (is this maybe a bit influenced cause kangaroos hit really hard and taekwondo is based on the art of kicking? perhaps.)

Luna Snow: an intrinsically kind character who works hard but won’t hesitate to defend her friends and family. Very quickly my mind turned towards the horse, reliable animals who are known for being gentle and kind but also a symbol for freedom, which in a sense fits her character and mindset. Aside from that horses are fiercely protective and strong, being able to kill other animals with a powerful kick. Other animals I considered for her: beaver and snow fox

And for now I’m leaving it here because I don’t know the other members of the organisation well enough to really think of anything, but if anyone is interested in hearing my take on another character (wether it’s one of the unmentioned agents of atlas, another marvel character or even one from DC), don’t hesitate to ask! If anyone disagrees with my take I’d love to hear other voices on the matter!

Reseña del mini kdrama “Splash Splash Love” (2015)

Sinopsis: Dan Bi (Kim Seul Gi) es una estudiante de preparatoria. El día de su examen de ingreso a la universidad, Dan Bi no puede hacer frente a la presión, sobre todo en el área de matemáticas y se escapa a un patio de recreo. Sin saber por qué, ella cae en un charco y es transportada a la época Joseon. Allí, conoce a Lee Do (Yoon Doo Joon). Él es un joven rey del período Joseon que es un experto en matemáticas. Lee Do se encuentra en una situación difícil debido a las sequías y la propagación de una epidemia. De alguna manera, Dan Bi lo ayudará durante su regencia.

Rate:  ★★★★★ 5 stars.

La frase “vine buscando cobre y encontré oro” describe perfectamente mi situación con este kdrama. Como algunos probablemente sepan, soy una fan empedernida de los kdramas de fantasía, especialmente de los que tratan de viajes en el tiempo. Esa fue la razón por la que agregué “Splash Splash Love” a mi watchlist, sin embargo, no me animaba a verlo porque no conocía a ningún actor de allí más que a la protagonista Kim Seul Gi y a Ahn Yeo Seop.

Si alguien aún se encuentra dudando de ver este kdrama por la mis a razón que yo (o por otra), solo me queda por decirles una cosa: ¿Qué esperan? Se están perdiendo de un maravillo kdrama que puedo calificar con un sólido 5 estrellas sin dudarlo. 

“Splash Splash Love” tiene a actores talentosos, personajes entrañables, super lindos, entretenidos y cómicos. Realmente no esperaba tanto (al no conocer a la mayoría de los actores y al tratarse de un kdrama tan corto de 2 horas), pero aún así me dio todo.

Pd. Después de verlo, me quedé con ganas de ver más kdramas de Kim Seul Gi y Yoon Doo Joon.

Hasta el momento que vi Splash Splash Love había visto solo algunos pocos kdramas históricos y éste se convirtió en mi segundo favorito respecto a este género. Uno que a pesar de ver muchos más kdramas históricos, estoy segura que no olvidaré.

A continuación haré un statement que no estoy segura si se considere spoiler o no, pero por si acaso, pongo la advertencia:

Este es el final que yo quería y ansiaba para Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryo :’)

Si un drama de 2 capítulos de 1 hora cada uno (o 10 capítulos de 20 minutos cada uno) como Splash Splash Love nos lo pudo dar en los últimos 5 minutos del kdrama, ¡¿por qué rayos MLSHR no pudo en el último capítulo de 60 minutos?!

De alguna forma Splash Splash Love sanó esa herida que tenía por culpa de Moon Lovers, y eso lo hace aún más perfecta.
