he is a cougar sparklecritter with khoshekh-like traits, meaning he's got the spine ridges and tendrils and all that jazz (sometimes) and of course, the stinger on the tail. i just think that since i headcanon cecil to be a lil older than carlos, him being a Literal Cougar is very funny to me and also he deserves the garish rainbow delight that is the sparklecritter vibe. i got excited to draw these because i already had them brewing, thank you SO MUCH for requesting this alshdajdha

"Carlos thinks you're using again," Nancy says, because they're doing truck checks at five am, too hyped up to sleep but too exhausted to think, and she can't come up with any other way to start this conversation. "He's very worried."

TK's whole body jerks as he looks up at her. "Wh-what?"

She shrugs, looking away from the eye contact. "You just... don't seem like yourself, I dunno. And you've lost a lot of weight."

At that, TK gives a tired half-smile. "You think so?" He runs a hand over his chest, and the motion draws her attention to just how loosely the Austin EMS t-shirt hangs over his frame.

"Not in a good way," Nancy clarifies, wincing at how harshly the words come out. "In a, 'dude, are you sure you're not shooting up after shift' way."

"Don't worry, Nance," TK assures her, a frown tugging at his lips. "No drugs, promise. Just a good all-natural detox." The AED beeps obnoxiously as he turns it on to check the battery.

"Well, that's good to hear," she says, even though her stomach is twisting uncomfortably. It almost makes her feel worse to think that TK's current state is on purpose. "Maybe you should, y'know, talk to Carlos about the, uh, detox." She stares intently at their OB kit, hoping she's not coming across as suspicious. "It might make him feel better. I bet both of you could stand to get stuff off your chest." She peeks over her shoulder at him.

"Oh, nah, we're fine," TK dismisses. "We're great, actually. What's the code for the drug box?"

"Shit, I forget." Nancy stands to go find the captain, and their bubble is burst.

Whatever's going on with TK, she's not gonna find out all of it right now.

So I have been hyper-fixating on Ira Wolf’s 2017 album Closest Thing to Home and have some some fandom-y thoughts that I have listening to it.

Breaking is easy

And hope is hard

Some days are good

And some years aren’t

Look, you remember how in approximately a singular calendar year (the timeline is fucked, but it’s definitely not a full two years between end of season two and end of season 4), TK and Carlos moved in together, their house burned down, they bought a new place, broke up, TK’s heart stopped twice, they got back together, TK’s mom died and he almost took enough fentanyl to kill himself, Owen’s stalker tried to murder them leading to TK dealing with his addiction, they got engaged, Carlos was secretly married, Carlos’s heart stops and TK saved him, TK might have Huntingtons cause his uncle was dying, Carlos dad was murdered a week before their wedding, Carlos lost his mind and tried to solve his fathers murder in a fugue state which almost led to murdering an innocent man, and then they still got married in a beautiful ceremony.

Pretty sure the chorus encapsulates their year that covered seasons end of 2 through end of 4 (season four was like a two month season over 18 eps) wild.

And I can’t stop thinking about it.
