TWO MONTH LATE MINI RANT

I’m soooooo fucking late to the party but I just found out NCIS: New Orleans was CANCELLED and I’m so mad????? It’s one of my favorite shows and was genuinely one of the best written shows I’ve ever seen but in the last season it went soooooo far off the rails. Hannah and Carter?? Literally the epitome of a forced romance. No romantic chemistry at all. No build up. They were like “oh wait actually you’re kind of hot lol” and then they hooked up like once and in the next scene/ episode they were talking about COMMITMENT?? After Carter’s whole 350k word slow burn “letting people into my life instead of pushing everyone out and admitting the people I work with are actually very important to me” arc??? That wasn’t even fully finished??? afsywyiudgaidg I can’t–

And don’t even get me STARTED on the whole Dwayne and Sasha thing. Bullshit. I literally cringed during all the flashbacks of them together 🤮🤮And giving Dwayne a son he knew nothing about?? Making him an absent father?? Poking holes in the nearly PERFECT Dwayne x Rita ship??? Making Dwayne so much like Cassius after all the progress he made towards avoiding making the same mistakes??? If you’re going to put his character arc in such a MASSIVE downswing there better be an equally massive (but still well paced and well deserved) upswing in the future. BUT NOW THE SHOW IS CANCELLED SO WE’LL NEVER FUCKING GET THAT. 

I’m sure there’s more I didn’t like (I remember being really unhappy watching all the plot bits) but it’s been a while since I’ve seen the show. Those are definitely the biggest ones though. I’m also forever salty that the strongly hinted “Hannah not being totally straight” subplot was never expanded on but that’s a rant for another day.

Something There That Wasn’t There Before

When you had been invited to go to the Naval Celebratory ball with Pride and the rest of the team you had agreed to go so that you could spend more time with the man you had the biggest crush on. You were sure, however, that his feelings towards you were strictly friendly, nothing more, and though it had hurt for you to admit you were coming to terms with that and accepting his friendship. That didn't stop you from going overboard with your outfit though, it was after all a ball which meant that a beautiful gown was a must. Feeling like a princess in the beautiful navy blue gown, with gorgeous detailing along the almost opaque bodice, you wore very sedate earrings and a little crown in your hair and had a very beautiful pair of heels on your feet to complete the outfit. When the doorbell rang to signify the arrival of your ride, you grab your purse and make your way towards the door. When you open it you watch Pride's reaction, it's one of shock to start off with before it morphs into a look of utter astonishment. He clears his throat after a moment and gives you a nervous smile

“Wow, Y/N, you look absolutely beautiful” he says as he offers you his arm. You smile, taking his arm. Your happy with the reaction you got after he saw you in your dress, and as he helps you get into the car, you can't help but smile nervously at him.

At the ball, Pride is very protective of you, not letting anyone other then the men in your team dance with you, and even then its only one dance at a time. You're confused, but don't question his actions until later in the evening. When Sebastian whisks you away to get drinks and doesn't tell Pride what the two of you are doing, Pride comes after you and in an almost feral move, he reaches for you and pulls you flush against his body

“What are you doing Sebastian?” Pride almost growls at him, you raise an eyebrow and send him an apologetic look

“We were just getting drinks Dwayne, there is nothing for you to worry about” you say and he looks from Sebastian to you and his gaze softens when he sees the small smile on your face

“Alright, well, do you mind if we go for a little walk? I need to talk to you” he says and you look to Sebastian apologetically and when he shrugs, you take Pride' arm again.

The two of you are walking through the garden outside the building when you feel Pride come to a stop next to you. You stop and turn towards him.

“What is it Dwayne?” you ask after a very long silence. He looks up at you from where his gaze had been focused on something on the ground.

“I feel very protective of you Y/N, more than I care to admit. I shouldn't feel this way about you, not when I've only just called things off with Rita but I do, I have for a really long time” you raise an eyebrow, not quite catching the meaning behind his words

“What are you talking about?” you ask, the confusion must be clear in your voice because he reaches out for your hands and gives them a gentle squeeze

“I like you Y/N. A lot. Probably more than I should. I've had feelings for you for a really long time but I've never acted on them because of I didn't know if you felt the same way, hell I still don't but when I saw you tonight, something just clicked and I knew I had to do something about it” he admits. You feel like your knees are about to go weak at his words but he seems to notice that and wraps his arms around your waist. Finally, his words seem to hit home for you and you smile

“I really like you too Dwayne. I have for a really long time” you say and he beams, leaning forward and resting his forehead against yours, he breaths out the words

“I might even say that these feelings towards you are love”, your heart swells at his words, and you lean forward just that little bit more so that your lips are touching, finally having that first kiss with the man. Pulling away from the kiss is one of the hardest things you've ever had to do before, but looking into his eyes you can see that he's never letting you go again, you're his now and that is all that matters.

What are some of your favorite fics that aren’t stevexbucky?

Uh, wow, how much free time to you have? Because MOST of my favorite fics aren’t Steve/Bucky. :D  (I mean, I adore the pairing, don’t get me wrong, but I love so many pairings in so many fandoms, it’s ridiculous.)

You know there is nothing quite like it when a TV show ends with a wedding. It’s actually the perfect send off to the characters and everyone always gets a happy ending at weddings. Below are some of my personal favourites.

I just realized that if NCIS LA ends with Callen and Anna’s wedding than it’ll be the second NCIS show in the franchise to end with a wedding, the first being Pride and Rita in New Orleans back in 2021, two years ago.

I can’t believe all the relationship developments for NCIS this past year.

Kensi and Deeks tried to get pregnant and now their going for adoption.

Dwayne and Rita got married in the series finale.

Eric and Nell left NCIS for good and are now living in Tokyo.

Callen is planning to propose to Anna, but its put on hold indefinitely because of Kayta.

Sloane left NCIS, but not before she and Gibbs finally shared a kiss.

Ellie and Nick finally started a relationship... until she left NCIS and broke his heart.

Sam and Katherine are still dating.

Fatima and Roundtree have begun their partnership and it seems the actors are hinting they might begin a romance in the future.

Hannah and Carter started a relationship.
