This is probably hands down my favorite set of Frozen 2 concept art. I love everything about it, I love the colors, I love the power in the poses, I love how each spirit seems to fade into the other.

A conversation about "Frozen 3" and the "Frozen Podcast" is not about automatons or my theories about the industrial revolution, but rather about two conversations on the podcast that were strangely interrupted.
Tumblr media
Queen Disa begins to interrogate Elsa about the Earth Giants including their origin, but Anna interrupts the conversation before Elsa can respond.
Kristoff wants to know if Anna, Disa and Elsa found Ryder in the Enchanted Forest, but that conversation is interrupted. Soon after, Wolfgang shows interest in Ryder and asks Kristoff to talk about his friend, but we don't hear anything about this conversation.
Until episode 8 of the podcast, this was the only mention of the Northuldra tribe and from the spoilers I heard there won't be much more than that. Much of the podcast takes place in the Enchanted Forest and there's nothing from the tribe? Are they still migrating as said in "Polar Nights" to justify them not also being on another adventure in the forest?
About the two points I highlightedi:
For me, the Earth Giants are one of the biggest questions about the Spirits of Nature: why are there more than one? And why do they look so similar in design to Marshmallow?
And Ryder falls into the same group as Honeymaren, only having mentions excluding the mobile game. But one thing I like to highlight about Kristoff's unexplored relationship with Ryder is that in the book “Frozen 2” Honeymaren's brother is interested in trolls when the ice harvester mentions them, but even in the mobile game this was not the case explored. .
Is all of this being blocked and preventing it from being developed because they are saving it for "Frozen 3"? I hope so, but this greatly increases the responsibility of the third film for me.
I like to cite the mobile game (Disney Magic Kingdoms) as a great generator of ElsaMaren moments, but I don't deny that although it practically confirms that Honeymaren has romantic feelings for Elsa (and Ryder, after giving up trying to get closer to Elsa, starts to support the two women) we didn't see much of Elsa's side. Okay, she obviously prefers sister Nattura over brother Nattura, but it's still not so clear whether she reciprocates Honeymaren's almost confirmed feelings. If the mobile game left Kristoff and Ryder's trip to the trolls for F3, it also left confirmation for the third film whether or not Elsa reciprocates Honeymaren's feelings for her.
As I said, "Frozen 3" has a great responsibility, I just hope they don't comment on the mistake of once again ignoring the Northuldra tribe and treating them as NPCs while exalting any new characters because that will be very disappointing.

Frozen 2 Theory: What If the director willingly left seeds for a possible 3rd installmeant?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Totally personal, but the more I analyze it, the more I notice some sort of pattern around Frozen 2: the movie is very careful at showing in its opening WHAT idea Anna and Elsa had of themselves before the Accident (which, following Jennifer Lee prespective, happened that same night), and how that tragic event and the Separation distorted the Sisters view in opposite ways, which reconnects perfectly with the events of the first Frozen.
The insteresting thing is the focus given by Anna and Elsa on the characters of the story:
Anna says "Who cares about danger, when there is love.", and focuses on making the Prince and the Princess kiss each other in an exxagerated way;
Tumblr media
Elsa instead says "They wake the Fairy Queen, who breaks the spell and saves everyone!", and her focus is on the good Fairy Queen defeating the evil Snow Goblin;
Tumblr media
Both narrations obviously work in their own regards, but also compliment each other: even if for Elsa "kissing won't save the Forest", this doesn't stop Anna from closing the story with an "And they all get married!", and having her older sister laughing without contradicting her. This is clearly a way to show the Sisters simpler and happier times, when fantasy and games were their only issue.
But what makes me more curious is how Frozen 2 than brings Anna and Elsa both to a very specific ending: Queen Anna is engaged to Kristoff, but their "big moment" still needs to happen, while Elsa has just begun as the Fifth Spirit, without facing an actual threat yet, just destroying Prince Hans ice-memory.
Both Sisters have found their own place in the world, but there are also sides of their story which relate to them, but it's NOT ONLY about them:
If Anna thinks about Hans as a Villain, she also views Elsa as a Hero, her hero, as she has always done since the first movie, when she had so much hope in her "Sure you can. I know you can.";
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Elsa views Kristoff as Anna true Love Interest, it's because he proved time and time again that he's a true Prince for her amazing and brave little sister , who she always trusted to be Arendelle true leader in her place "Your life awaits. Go enjoy the Sun and open up the gates.";
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm sincerly convinced this new situation perfectly suits both Kristoff and Hans because we've seen Anna and Elsa already going through a lot of things about themselves.
I've always loved idea to see our Snow Sister being the one taking charge in relation and thinking about others issues, diving into Kristoff's childood, his original family and how he met Sven, and how the Trolls help him regarding his trauma, as well as finally getting a clearer idea of Hans , seeing a little more about him and Sitron, and seeing finally the Southern Isles, a kingdom we only know for having thirteen heirs to the throne:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Anna was the one that gave great importance to both of them in Frozen, now, thanks to Elsa in Frozen 2, we have now the key to truely know the past:
Tumblr media
With the Sisters have both their lives consolidated, then I think it becomes quite clear they can't be the source of trouble to actually subvert the expectations of the story a third time, or, to be more specific: in order to involve Anna & Elsa directly and don't lose the focus on them, the issues must come from something that's fits their new status quo, but still has a deep and personal connection to them, both emotionally and narratively.

soulmark au sketches. the idea of sokka in proven ‘soulmates are real’ universes consistently intrigues me—how would that impact his skepticism/interpretation of fate/destiny/free will? personally i think he’d be very angry for a very long time and probably not even understand why

SUPTOBER 02 - pumpkin patch
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Sauron invented gunpowder as like an after thought. Put it in like a 'this could be used for nefarious purposes' box for later.
And it worked, the Numenorians got hold of it at some point and when Tar-Mairon came finally, he looked over their work with a odd sort of pride?
All this to say Olorin smuggled gunpowder back into Middle Earth and created fireworks in the name of redeeming twisted creations (and in hopes of riling up the fledgling dark lord wherever it was he was hiding)

And the new episodes of "Frozen Podcat" have arrived:
5 - UNREST IN THE ENCHANTED FOREST
Tumblr media
It's finally lunch time for the soldiers, but they want to hear the story
At the fire Disa tries to think of a plan to solve the fire, but Elsa uses her powers which again makes Disa amazed when she sees the Snow Queen
While Elsa contains the fire, Anna and Disa find Bruni and the Snow Queen calms the salamander in the same way she did in F2, and with that done the fire goes out
At Arendelle Castle, Mattias reports on the current situation of the kingdom after all this confusion, and in the end he praises Kristoff for his role as leader, leaving the blonde embarrassed
Wolfgang while helping to collect the debris laments Magnus's disappearance, until suddenly Gale returns. The Duke's nephew has to be calmed down by Olaf and Kristoff, and the Lord himself consoles Astrid, the other magpie
Wolfgang once again mentions Kristoff's proposal to become an industrialist, even talking about when he himself would inherit the Duke's titles, but his cousin Albert stole his place and he says that this is the first lesson he will teach Kristoff: be careful with Albert
Astrid, on Wolfgang's orders, begins to help collect the debris, but takes Olaf's arm instead and takes some time to return it, but the snowman doesn't take it personally
And then a rain of frogs begins in the kingdom
Back to the soldiers Mattias explains how a "rain of frogs" is just a situation where frogs are carried by the wind which gives the impression that they are falling from the sky like water, etc.
In the Enchanted Forest, the trio of women find pieces of scorched metal and just seeing one of them irritates Bruni, confirming that they are the cause of her outburst. The pieces are also made of copper like the mechanical spider. Elsa believes that the automatons are visitors from Arendelle that Anna allowed to enter the kingdom, she fears that she will not be able to deal with it and that she needs to understand this situation, but Anna supports her and they promise to deal with it together
The women find a trail of pieces and eventually the automaton that Anna finds very similar to Wolfgang's mechanized lamps, but before they can continue talking the Earth Giants awaken.
6 - MAGNUS' RETURN
Tumblr media
The soldiers are very interested in the Earth Giants, which makes Mattias want to tell his story about them, F2, but returns to the current story
Elsa has difficulty sensing the giants and Disa even considers using the vibrations of the ground to find them, but eventually they manage to find them just by looking. They are afraid that the giants will arrive in Arendelle, they don't know if it is possible, but Elsa doesn't doubt it. Disa questions if Elsa can control them, but she just says that she can figure out what's bothering them and fix it. Anna cites the destruction of the dam as an example of the strength of giants
They notice a mechanical reindeer near the giants and, to save it, Elsa creates an ice rink and the three women go skating to get there quickly. Disa even questions why Elsa doesn't move like that normally, but Elsa says that Nokk is faster. But they don't arrive in time and the reindeer is crushed and to the trio's surprise the giants seem to have calmed down and return to the forest
They cut open the reindeer discovering that it had raw copper, implying that it was mining the material, which makes them openly suspicious of Wolfgang. The sisters fear that Kristoff and Mattias could be in danger because of Wolfgang, and even though they believe that Magnus could be a spy, Anna sends a message to Mattias warning him about Wolfgang
At the castle, Astrid laments Magnus' absence while Kristoff coordinates the removal of the frogs. Olaf ends up getting in the way as he adopted some frogs and told him his secrets, but the frog runs away from Olaf
Kristoff laments that Anna cannot see the rain of frogs that he identifies as Gale's actions. As Wolfgang questions Mattia about not going to protect Anna, the conversation soon turns to Kristoff and his idea of making him an industrialist. Wolfgang advises Kristoff to hire bodyguards and official tasters to deal with the dangers of being an ice collector, but Kristoff denies the advice. The ice collector believes that being an industrialist would make him focus only on work, which he doesn't want in life. Wolfgang understands his thoughts, but as he speaks he seems to talk more about himself than about Kristoff
Sven arrives, and soon after the people of Sankerhus who are distraught without their queen. Following Wolfgang's advice, Kristoff goes to talk to the population, but ends up getting complicated, Olaf doesn't help, and ends up being saved by Mattias, who has more leadership capacity.
They return to find Wolfgang playing a musical instrument and enjoying popcorn and cappuccino? (I was confused about it but I think it was cappuccino) Mattias helps himself and so does Sven after some confusion
Mattias praises Wolfgang's musical performance and the Duke's nephew says that his dream was music and opera, but he ended up becoming a man in the industry. He even tries to end the conversation, but Kristoff shows interest, which surprises Wolfgang who talks more about his dreams and desires about music and opera until Magnus arrives. Magnus brings a letter from Anna which he refuses to hand over until Wolfgang intervenes, the letter reveals the discoveries about Wolfgang's machines in the Enchanted Forest which leads Mattias to order his arrest, but the Duke's nephew pleading innocence and orders his birds to collect evidence to prove your innocence

FROZEN // FROZEN 2: Love how Anna & Elsa are perfectly expressing the same energy of Kristoff & Hans in F1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a little obsession of mine, but looking at Anna and Elsa pivotal moments from F2, it seriously feels as their journeys were built on the dynamics and themes of F1, to show their growth and development: they are doing what they weren’t able to do themselves in the first movie, something that, instead, Kristoff & Hans were experiencing themselves in F1.
I know it seems as I'm reading too much into it, but here's my explain:
- Anna is leading the Earth Giants to destroy the dam because it's the right thing to do to makes repeant for King Runeard's sins, to free the Enchanted Forest and ensure Arendelle's future, even if she knows that her life won't be the same anymore, after she lost Elsa and Olaf, her relationship with Kristoff seemed broken and Arendelle will be destroyed. Similarly, Kristoff in F1 was riding on the fjord with Sven and facing the snow storm in order to save Anna from it, even if he was still believing that she got saved by Hans's "true love kiss", and so needing to return to his everyday life with this pain inside his heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Elsa is preparing herself to face the Dark Sea to reach Ahtohallan and this Fifth Spirit, to honor her parents sacrifice and finally have the answers she was searching for, convinced that her duty and destiny is to be some sort of hero meant to save everyone, proving her determination by defeating the Nokk. Well, in F1, while searching for Anna and appear as some sort of hero, Hans prepares himself and his search-party to face whatever danger they might meet getting closer to the Ice Palace, coincidentally arriving when Elsa's powers are reflecting her deeply emotinally thurmoil, giving to the place a dark vibe, and this situation gets "even better" for him when Marshmallow reveals himself
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way the scenes are built is nearly identical between the two movies, but the best way to put it down is that Frozen 2 turns the expectations in a story with a much greater scale compared to the first movie.
Most importantly:
F1 story works through Anna & Elsa being separated, in order to bring their relationship back at the center.
F2 story works through Anna & Elsa being together, in order to evolve their relationship and find their roles in the world.

FOTD #116 : giant puffball! (calvatia gigantea)
the giant puffball is a saprotrophic fungus from the family agaricaceae. it often grows in meadows or deciduous forests, & can be found in temperate areas across the world :-)
the big question : can i bite it?? when young, this fungus is edible !! as it matures, it becomes inedible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
c. gigantea description :
"most giant puffballs grow to be 10 to 50 centimetres (4 to 20 inches), sometimes to be 90 cm (35 in) in diameter; although occasionally some can reach diameters up to 150 cm (60 in) & weights of 20 kg (44 lb). yhe inside of mature giant puffballs is greenish brown, whereas the interior of immature puffballs is white."
