So maybe by some magical reason, or pure determination on Cherri's party, She gets redeemed and goes to heaven. She spends her days there just chillin livin her life, then she bumps into sir Pentious? Maybe when they meet, Sir Pentious just stands there like a deer in headlights, and she goes over to him in her usual sass, but in the inside, she just wants to cry to him or smthn.

Then maybe, Sir Pentious gathers his courage and asks her out?

Happy ending! Maybe.

Together Again

After nearly ten months of rehab, seeing most of the other residents achieve angelic status, even being clean for four of those months (because Charlie and Vaggie took away her drug stash, but wtv, still counts losers!) she had went to sleep the same way as she usually did, saluting Pentious’ portrait and as she had starting doing, blowing a little kiss to it, going outside to drop some flowers at his grave and finally tucking herself into bed, she fell asleep. 

But this felt… different. She felt like she was only asleep for maybe a couple seconds before she felt the thud of warm marble floors beneath her, scrambling to her feet and reaching into her back pocket for an emergency bomb - only to find nothing there. She opened her eye, only to have to close it quickly because of the shining golden light of the ceiling above. Then there was an excited squeal, and an Angel rushed towards here

“A new sinner! A new sinner has reached rehabilitation!” She squealed out, reaching out to help Cherri with her bearings, only for Cherri to flinch away, staring at her, completely bewildered. She knew she had been making progress, but she had no clue it was this much progress. She almost felt disappointment that she was here already.

“Oh! Where are my manners?” The sarafim chirped excitedly, reaching out her hand for Cherri to cautiously shake, only to pull back in shock when her hands were now laces with hints of gold. “I’m Emily, or Em, or - just call me whatever! I’m the second sarafim of heaven, congratulations on making angelic status!” She said with a big smile. Cherri nodded slowly, still taking in her bearings. She would miss Pentious’ portrait. 

She spent her first couple days walking around aimlessly in the golden-rimmed, shiny palace that was heaven. She found out you could still fight in heaven, but it was a safe sort of contest, or sport. And there wasn’t any deadly weapons, either. It was safe. She couldn’t lie and say there wasn’t nothing in Hell she missed, but it was comfortable up here. Like the calm after the storm. 

At the end of her first week, she decided to finally go out for drinks at a popular angelic bar. There was no hangovers here, Em had explained. And the liquor, she had found out, tasted unbelievably pleasant. No one was knocking into her, or groping her. No one was cornering her at gunpoint. People would come up and talk to her about more than just trying to get into her pants. 

And the best part? You could still go to town on the dance floor. And unlike she had originally joked, they still had catchy music and her favourite songs playing at clubs. That became most of her nightly routine, to try and start to recover from the pain of losing Pentious as quickly as she got him. Dancing out and about with angels, because she still, secretly, couldn’t think of herself as one. 

That was, until she accidentally bumped into a tall stranger, falling back slightly before she started apologizing, which was something Charlie had taught her about while she was still in rehabilitation. She thought she was quite good at it by now. She thought that until the tall stranger turned around and stole all the words from her throat for a second.

He was even more handsome, gold accents now covering his body as his eyes grew wide, words seeming to get stuck in his throat as well. She chuckled softly, snapping herself back out of her bewildered state. Be cool, Cherri. She thought. It was one kiss. She told herself. He’s probably forgotten now. 

“You fucker!” She chuckled out with her usual tone, punching him playfully and lightly in the arm, looking up at him with her eye that let him see right through her words, right into the rope that was squeezing her heart so hard it felt like it might burst. “You look even worse than when you last sacrificed yourself for us!” She tried at another sarcastic hit, only to be met with the same shocked silence, before his face melted into pure adoration.

“Don’t give me the goo-goo eyes, pleassseee.” She jokes, trying to avoid them, because she knew she’d melt just the same, swallowing thickly as he put his hand on her cheek, tilting her face to look up at his. Her bottom lip trembled.

“I didn’t know how you could look even prettier.” He mumbles out quietly, watching tears start to form in her eye as she tries to blink them away to no avail, blush spreading over her cheeks, just the same as the day he’d kissed her. “But you’ve gone and proved me wrong, Missss Cherri Bomb.” He mumbled out softly, leaning in slightly, eyes trailing to her lips and back up to eye, now a beautiful ocean blue. 

She sniffles softly, words stuck in her throat before he scoops her up by the curve of her back, dipping her down as he kissed her - just like months ago, his hand squeezing at her like she would slip out of his grip at any moment. She melted into the kiss, pressing her lips back against his, feeling back in the moment. Feeling a missing piece of her click back into place, finally. 

He finally pulled his lips off her, looking down at her with adoration swimming in his eyes, and she just smiles, blushing as she finally looks him in the eyes. “You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to do that again, Miss Cherri.” He mumbled out softly.

“You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for you to do it again, Pentious.” She replied with a smile, tears in her eye finally breaking and a small stream of her tears running down her cheek as she put her hands onto the back of his head, eyeing his lips.

“One more time for good measure.”

Arms I made up for Jane Roland (and later Emily’s) Ducal House. Roland’s titles are never mentioned in the books, but I have her created Duchess of Carmarthen. Carmarthen was a major center in Wales prior to industrialization. It is meant something of an insult from the government because the Welsh are icky, just like women and aviators. The Rolands, naturally, do not care one bit and rather take a liking to the place. Most estates they are awarded are in England, however. They do not currently have a seat because they have dragons to fly. Might get some subsidiary titles (maybe something named for Scotland near Loch Laggan) so that Emily can be a Countess.

The dragon is not a perfect longwings, but it is blue, and holding a grenade to symbolize the guns and bombs. Four yellow stripes on green for an Admiral of the Air. Golden Laurels for Victory. A ducal coronet above. Jane is extremely mad that the College of Arms said she couldn’t swear in her motto, and refuses to use Latin or French until someone suggests “Excidium.” The dragon himself is quite pleased with this, although wishes his portrait was better. But the poor College of Arms people are already so sad about his hastily put together arms that Jane just left it.

Carpenter was an English writer and philosopher, and an early activist for gay rights and prison reform. In the opening of the episode, Louis is shown to be reading his essay "Marriage, a retrospective" you can read this essay, as well as the rest of the book, in the Internet Archive, here.

First collected and published in 1890

Dickinson was an American poet who published only ten of her approximate 1800 poems during her life. Before her passing, Dickinson had asked her sister to burn her writings, and you can read more about how her sister Lavinia came to publish them instead, with major editions, in this LitHub piece.

Pelléas et Mélisande

Claude Debussy & Maurice Maeterlinck, 1902

Referenced in Lestat's lyrics, this is an opera in five acts about a love triangle, which ends in tragedy for both its titular heroes, the mysterious Mélisande and her husband's younger brother, Pélleas. An interesting detail: after Pelléas and Mélisande's demise, they are survived by their daughter.

SUOL-nim Season 4 Livestream recap!

This time she's streaming on Youtube instead of Twitch! However, the VOD will still not be saved afterward.

As speculated, the cover is Winter and Siyeon(our transmigrator FL), with the necklace Winter gave her in the caves :)

Unfortunately, she doesn't know when the English translation will be licensed since it's between Gyeoeul-nim and the publisher,,

Her voice is so nice... she speaks Korean, English, and Japanese too!

Return of the pink underlayer for the magenta hair!

She talked a little about the Alice in Wonderland dress! The color was specified in the novel as "sky-blue", and SUOL-nim thought it would be fitting for Siyeon to wear such a dress while adventuring with our White Rabbit, Winter

Ahh I had to leave the house for a few hours so the stuff below are all my panicked notes. Some of these are out of order, sorryyy

SUOL-nim showed us the concept arts of the characters individually.

Fun fact, Siyeon and OG!Penelope's concept art has them wearing the same colored shoes, but Siyeon's shoes have low heels, almost like flats.

She says that out of all the characters, Callisto is the hardest to draw. This is especially since his golden hair has narrative importance and the aesthetic is hard to nail down.

The webtoon is mostly SUOL-nim's own work! She doesn't really speak to Gyeoeul-nim about work matters or help in adapting some scenes.

It takes her a week to finish a chapter, so she doesn't really have a "backlog" of progress. This is also why there's an extra week of break after four weeks.

One of the most memorable changes she made in the adaptation was changing the Empire's name from "Inca" to "Eorka". She reasoned that because "Inca" is the name of a real Empire, it would be confusing. Thus, she changed it.

The anagram of "Eorka" to "Korea" was completely accidental.

She has an Instagram for her SUOL account(like how she has a personal and a work Twitter) but has no plans on using it since her Twitter is overwhelming.

She doesn't have a favorite dress, but one of the ones she's especially attached to is the white Goddess dress since most of Penelope's wardrobe is dark.

She shows her folders occasionally, and we get little peeks of concept art for characters like Ivonne, the assassins, Penelope's male disguise, Cedrick, Emily's Hunting Competition dress, Winter's layered clothing, and minor characters, as well as the tiny bird monsters.

She also showed the dress concepts for Season 3!

In addition, we got to see a rendered concept of Penelope(think the promotional portrait) as well as a version of that style for Reynold and Penelope's faces in her folders.

There was also a WIP with Eckles and Penelope, perhaps a small illustration she scrapped, hasn't released yet, or just a concept.

We also got to see a silly doodle of Penelope, a redraw of a Crayon Shin-Chan frame(it's a popular kids manga/anime in East Asia).

The original was Shin-Chan trying to decide between a few identical outfits; the VADD version is the one where Penelope is surrounded by objects representing each ML.

The ointment from Reynold, the scroll from Callisto, Winter's mask, Eckles' collar, and Derrick's bird cage.

Her rendering is immaculate; Siyeon glows off the page.

The info after this is second-handed since I'm still sick and I fell asleep an hour before it ended ;-; but my throat is killing me and my ears were ringing

She moved to sketches around this time ^^

For the top row, SUOL-nim drew a Penelope, an Eckles getting dressed, and a sulky baby Reynold in a onesie. To the right of him is a doodle of him and Derrick in high chairs, with the Duke and a heavily pregnant Duchess watching over them.

On the bottom row, we have Emily in a noblewoman's dress and a fan with her hair pinned up(with feathers!), the head butler Pennel, and an overworked salaryman Cedrick on his phone.

Edit: He's chatting about Callisto with his feet on the table while thinking about strangling Callisto loll.

The stream was approximately 6 hours long!

Also, something she reiterated for a bit: Season 4 is planned to come out in August/September. The dates are tentative but she wants to get it out to us by that period.

It was nice seeing a lot of the discord and tumblr crew!!

Also, the stream tea: SUOL-nim requested that we translate our comments that weren't in Korean, English, or Japanese since she has to moderate the chat still and she doesn't want to feel left out of her own stream. Even if it's conversing amongst themselves, they should still translate.

A group of Arabic-speaking viewers actively ignored her and there were small fights in chat, and she even addressed this issue TWICE.

And in the end they still didn't do it, so... PLEASE RESPECT SUOL-nim's stream rules! At the end of the day, it's still HER stream! She has to moderate it! Don't make it unnecessarily difficult for streamers to stream!

Picasso Masterpiece 'Femme à la montre' Sells for $139 Million at Auction

A Picasso masterpiece entitled “Femme à la montre” fetched more than $139 million on Wednesday, becoming the second most valuable work by the artist ever sold at auction.

The 1932 oil painting took center-stage at a two-day event at Sotheby’s in New York, at the sale of late philanthropist Emily Fisher Landau’s private collection.

The piece, which measures 51¼ x 38 inches (130 x 96.5 centimeters), depicts Picasso’s lover and “golden muse” Marie-Thérèse Walter, who featured in many of his portraits.

According to the auction house, the portrait is from one of the most prolific years of the Spanish artist’s career, which was the subject of an entire exhibition organized by the Musée Picasso in Paris and London’s Tate Modern in 2018.

In a statement announcing the sale in September, Julian Dawes, Sotheby’s head of Impressionist & Modern Art for the Americas, said: “Picasso’s ‘Femme à la Montre’ is a masterpiece by every measure. Painted in 1932 — Picasso’s ‘annus mirabilis’ — it is full of joyful, passionate abandon yet at the same time it is utterly considered and resolved. Its bold primary colors sing from the five-foot-tall-canvas.”

Picasso first met Walter in Paris in 1927 when she was 17 years old and he was still married to his first wife, Olga Khokhlova, a Russian-Ukrainian ballet dancer. Walter would become the inspiration for some of his most sought-after canvases, drawings and sculptures.

As time went on, Picasso found it increasingly difficult to hide his feelings for Walter from his work — something that became clear during his first large-scale retrospective and finally ended his marriage.

The artist painted “Femme à la montre” in August 1932, soon after the retrospective at the Galerie Georges Petit in Paris ended.

According to Sotheby’s, “the sense of release from keeping secrets about his affair seem to have spilled out onto this extraordinary canvas, in which he gives full painterly rein to new-found freedoms, drenching the painting in strong primary colors and beautiful forms, while at the same time paying careful attention to every small detail, creating a composition that is both intensely complex and deeply harmonious.”

Picasso died in 1973, and Walter in 1977.

The painting is one of about 120 from the collection of Fisher Landau, a world renowned contemporary art collector who died earlier this year aged 102, according to The Art Newspaper.

The two-part sale, which concludes Thursday, also includes works by Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning and Georgia O’Keeffe. The collection is expected to sell for over $400 million overall. Other big-ticket items auctioned on Wednesday included one of Jasper Johns’ iconic American flag paintings, which went for $41 million, and an Ed Ruscha artwork — an oil painting emblazoned with the word “Boss” — that fetched more than $39.4 million.

Fisher Landau began seriously collecting after receiving an insurance payout following an armed robbery of her jewelry at her New York home in 1969.

In an interview for an exhibition catalog, quoted in the Sotheby’s statement, she said of the episode: “Even though Lloyds of London paid up, there was no way to replace that collection. It was so beautiful. And they got it in one fell swoop…. I was devastated. But I decided that I didn’t want the jewelry any more. I now had seed money for a collection.”

Last year, Picasso’s most curious painting of Walter, in which she appears as a tentacled sea creature, sold for $67.5 million at Sotheby’s in New York.

Picasso’s portraits of Walter have become highly sought-after, with his other 1932 works “Femme assise près d’une fenêtre (Marie-Thérèse),” selling for $103.41 million in 2021, and “Nude, Green Leaves and Bust,” selling for $106.5 million in 2010.

In May 2015, Picasso’s “Les femmes d’Alger (Version “O”) sold at Christie’s in New York for $179.4 million — at that time, the highest price ever paid for a work of art at auction.

BSD: Order of the Clock Tower Head Canons

Since Agatha Christie first appeared in the Bungou Stray Dogs movie, I've always been intrigued by the organization she led. As a fan of English Literature, I always wonder who will be the members of the Order of the Clock Tower.

Well, here are my head canon characters for the Order:

Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte

Based on the Bronte Sisters, I imagined them as the three sisters who came somewhere in the countryside of England blessed with abilities and unique from one another. Charlotte has an ability called Jane Eyre in which it takes the form of a golden string that enables to locate the heart of the person she is looking for. Emily’s called Wuthering Heights, in which she’s able to summon ghosts called Heathcliff and Cathy and would do some of her biddings. Finally, Anne has the ability called The Tenant of Wildfell Hall where it worked like Kunikida’s ability, except that she is able to bring the images to life she’s been drawing in her journal.

Lewis Caroll

Based on Lewis Caroll, I pictured him as a cheerful man with a top hat who’s carrying a mirror all the time. It’s actually his ability, Through the Looking Glass, where he is able to transport people inside the mirror and inside was an unusual place called Wonderland. Yes, it’s somehow similar to Lucy and Poe’s ability. Also, whenever he’s about to transport his victims, he would usually shout, “Now, off with your heads, gentlemen!”

Jane Austen

Based on Jane Austen herself, I imagined her as a composed lady who wears Regency era inspired dresses. She is sharp and witty with her words. I actually find it hard to name her ability yet I think I would go with Persuasion instead. Since Jane in this head canon is good with words, her ability enables her to persuade or manipulate someone to do her biddings with solely her words only.

Oscar Wilde

Of course he is included! Obviously, his ability is The Picture of Dorian Gray, in which Oscar is an immortal and his opponents always have a tough time whenever they engage in battle with him since he won’t die. However, the one thing that could kill Dorian is if they showed him the portrait of his aging, rotting self. (It’s actually inspired by Dorian Gray from LXG).

Certain As The Sun

Elliott was in the bedroom getting ready, he wore a yellow suit that tightened at his waist, his hair tied back in a pony tail with a yellow ribbon.

Tonight you had an incredible surprise for him, though you refused to tell him what it was exactly, it was something big, he knew just because Robin, Emily, and Leah had been on the property for the past week, either distracting him or going off behind the trees to a place you refused to tell him about.

You knocked on the door to your shared bedroom and Elliott turned to face you, he stopped to stare at you for a moment, you looked absolutely radiant in navy blue, your hair also pulled back in a pony tail but yours was with a blue ribbon.

You smiled softly at him a small blush forming on your cheeks, the way Elliott looked at you still startled you. It was like you were the most beautiful person in the world, like still after two years of marriage he still needed time to collect himself before talking to you.

"Are you ready?" You ask him softly.

"Yes." Elliott said.

He offered you his arm and you took it as he led you two out the front door.

It was a crisp fall afternoon, the leaves were falling the way they would in a dream, the sun was just setting casting a golden glow over the farm.

You took your hand away from Elliott and grabbed his hand, before pulling him to his surprise. Past the trees, grass, the weeds, and some crops was a wooden shed, in front of it the ground had been replaced with a small porch instead of dirt.

"I need you to close your eyes." You say standing in front of your husband.

Elliott gave you a skeptical look and you laughed;

"It's for the surprise."

He smiled and closed his eyes, you waved your hand in front of his face to make sure that his eyes were closed.

Elliott heard the door open, felt you pull him inside, he heard the click of some lights and smelled lobster.

"Can I open them?" He asked

"Not yet." You say.

You run over to the table and grab the lighter sitting on the table and lite the candle in the middle of the table.

The lobster was still warm, you'd finished it not five minutes before Elliott had finished dressing and you were thankful that Emily had let you borrow a table cloth (your last one was tore up by the dog).

"Now can I open them?" Elliott asked.

"Alright." You say, "Now."

Elliott looked around and put a hand to his mouth, the shed was a library, his very own library, there was a small reading nook by the window with a blue cushion and green blanket, the floor was wooden and the ceiling above him looked like something from the Page master, story references from each genre were on the ceiling, and the walls were painted like the sea.

The shelves around the room were filled with books, he recognized every single one from the storage unit where he put all of his books until you two had space.

The shelves were new and wood burned with beautiful designs that looked similar to sea shells, some fish, and a few of your animals.

"Oh my Love." Elliott said feeling tears fill his eyes, he put his hands to his mouth.

"Do you like it?" You asked.

"It's wonderful." Elliott said wiping a tear from his eye, Elliott came around the table and pulled you to his chest.

"Thank you so very much."

Once Elliott was able to collect his emotions you two sat and began to ate, you grabbed your phone and found a playlist filled with some of his favorite songs.

Once you were done Elliott stood and held out his hand to you.

"May I have this dance?" He asked.

You giggled and took his hand, he spun you around the middle of the room right below the circular ceiling portrait.

When the candle melted down to the glass holder you blew out the candle. Hand and hand you two went back to the house.

"Happy Birthday my love." You whisper kissing his forehead.

"Thank you." Elliott said pulling you close to him. "Thank you so much my love."

eating: made deb smittenkitchen's delicious carrot cake recipe. mine was a little ugly but really really delicious. i bought a bag of preshredded carrots and just sort of roughly chopped em up a little smaller because i couldn't be assed to grate them. i also couldn't be assed to trim the cakes, i did two smaller round pans and stacked them up but because i didn't trim them they were a little wibbly. oh well.

i'm going to bake another cake for my brother's birthday next weekend and i'm between her chocolate olive oil cake (looks really easy) and bittersweet chocolate and pear cake (a little more involved but highly recommended by bee)

misc: my mom wanted to take a sailing class but didn't want to do it alone so she offered to pay for me to come. sure, said i! i have never sailed! i like learning new skills! reader, it is So Fucking Hot Outside. the wind died and we had to get towed back to shore. the sun was so strong. there are so many ropes with all different names and they all Do Something. sunday's class got cancelled/rescheduled because the weather was That Bad (hot as fuck and no wind) so we're doing it probably friday instead (and saturday. and sunday. it's two weekends in a row of both days at 9am yayyyyy) but i just hope the weather is. better.
