So.. I thought I remembered Victor Surge saying that for some of the OG Slendy photos, he used screenshots of some dude named "The Tall Man" from the Phantasm film series.
So I look him up and come across this picture.
Tumblr media
And I think "Hey, this looks familiar." So i crosscheck it, and.
Holy shit.

A dream I had (it is sadly not real)
OKAY I had a dream that Adam Rosner (the bitch) hopped back on twitter solely to say "Eric Knudsen can't copyright Slendy he'd have to sue millions of people lmao" Eric Knudsen then proceeded to sue Adam Rosner for 1. Defamation (idk it was a dream) and 2. Using his character in a way unintended by the creator (I think it was a bit more complex and something along the lines of how Rosner used his popularity to groom minors) I think the total he won was like 100k and Rosner was never allowed to be associated with the Slenderverse ever again (basically TribeTwelve was no longer legally his property) Eric could've done anything with the money but he proceeded to call up the other members of the TT cast and say "hey I sued Rosner and took his money you guys wanna make a proper ending for TribeTwelve" and they were like "ah hell yeah" and they found a cosplayer on TikTok to be Noah TL;DR: I had a dream that Eric Knudsen (creator of Slenderman) sued Adam Rosner (creator of TribeTwelve/child molester), permabanned him from the Slenderman fandom, and then proceeded to fund a proper end for TribeTwelve. TL;DRTL;DR: Chaotic Good Eric Knudsen

completely unnecessary horror mash-ups (17/?) - hocus pocus x slenderman
“it says here the witches—like they tied it to something.”
“something? what do you mean?”
“like if someone lights it, it’ll act like a—“ her voice trailed off as she looked up in time to see dani and her faithful zippo. “—a summoning beacon.”
dani looked at her brother, then back at the flame, which appeared a lot darker than any other fire they’d ever seen.
like it burned black.
“a summoning beacon for what?”
“i guess we’ll find out. … who’s that outside?”
mini mix: screaming jay hawkins, i put a spell on you + creedence clearwater revival, bad moon rising + au/ra, panic room

Note
A common misconception is that Slenderman is public domain.
He's not. Eric Knudsen, the creator of the creepypasta, and while he's totally fine with people writing creepypastas about the character, He actually sold the rights to adapt it to film or TV to an undisclosed third party, which-- in 2016-- sold it two a company called Mythology Entertainment.
That company dissolved in 2019.
So, should the character's copyright default to being wholly in the public domain, should it default back to Knudsen- ??
Assuming Copyright has too exists-- what's your take?
I think we should let him decide

On the 31st of May, 2014, two twelve-year-old girls, Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, lured their friend, Payton Leutner, into the woods in the quiet suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Once there, they brutally stabbed her nineteen times. The motive was their belief in Slender Man, a fictional supernatural character born from an online meme.
Slender Man originated from a 2009 internet contest on the website Something Awful, where users were challenged to create creepy images. Eric Knudsen, using the pseudonym Victor Surge, contributed a black-and-white image of a tall, faceless figure with tentacle-like appendages, lurking behind children.
This character, quickly dubbed Slender Man, went viral, spawning countless stories, videos, and fan art that fueled its mythos. The character was often depicted as a sinister entity that stalked, abducted, or traumatized children, becoming a staple in online horror communities.
Weier and Geyser had become deeply engrossed in the Slender Man mythos and believed that committing a murder would make them Slender Man’s proxies and allow them to live with him in his mansion in the woods. This delusion drove them to plan and execute their attack on Leutner, whom they considered a necessary sacrifice.
On that fateful day, the girls played a game of hide-and-seek in a nearby forest, where they turned on Leutner and carried out the stabbing. Miraculously, Leutner survived the attack, managing to crawl to a nearby road where she was discovered by a passing cyclist who called for help. She was rushed to the hospital and, despite the severity of her injuries, eventually made a full recovery.
The aftermath of the stabbing led to a highly publicized legal battle. Both Weier and Geyser were charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Given the severity of their crime, they were tried as adults, a decision that sparked debate about how to handle juveniles in the legal system, especially those with mental health issues.
During the trial, it was revealed that Geyser suffered from schizophrenia, a condition that likely contributed to her inability to distinguish between reality and fantasy. In 2017, Weier was sentenced to 25 years in a mental health institution, while Geyser received a maximum sentence of 40 years in a mental hospital.

Happy Birthday to The Slender Man!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
15 years ago today Eric “Victor Surge” Knudsen posted two images to the “Create Paranormal Images” thread of the SomethingAwful forums, resulting in other posters building off his creation and leading to an online horror phenomenon!
Slender Man shows the power of online community creation and it’s lead to so many good things in my own life including some of dearest close friends. Here’s to many more years! 🖤

Internet concepts and Copyright
A person said once that all creepypasta is public domain. While people are often chill with sharing it, its not the case especially when theres an author behind the concept. However theres some things that people think are public domain that arent. the reverse is also true things people think are copyrighted but arent. Let's do a breakdown
Slenderman unfortunately copyrighted, its rights belonged to Eric Knudsen but were sold to Mythology Entertainment in 2016. The company folded into Project X Entertainment in 2019. So i assume they own the copyright.
Ben Drowned definitely copyrighted or rather is blocked from being claimed or used commercially since it uses assets and designs belonging to Nintendo.
The Backrooms not copyrighted, the initial post that sparked the stories and projects about them was an anonymous 4chan post. It's fair game for commercial projects in fact A24 is producing a film adaptation of it with Kane Parsons based on that youtube series, so its definitely fair game in general.
Jeff the Killer I believe to be similar case as above, according to the Daily Dot the Jeff the Killer thing can be traced back as early as 2008 so I'm not sure theres anything or anyone that can claim it realistically.
Candle Cove belongs to Kris Staub, fairly straightforward.
John Titor the noted time travel claimant of the early 00s. Never claimed to be a story so therefore has no copyright to tie to even if it wasnt anonymous. Notably used in Steins: Gate.
SCP Foundation everything on the SCP Foundation site is under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license and therefore can be used for derivative works even commercial ones. This means that you have to attribute where you got the SCP from and your works have to be published under the same license. More info here.

slenderman: a creature that has spawned so many creative & intelligent works about mental illness and trauma. a faceless being that, unsurprisingly, has attracted so many queer (specifically trans) people. slenderman has allowed people to stretch their imaginations & create genuinely terrifying movies & series all just on youtube. it has created a space where diy & low-budget horror is celebrated. happy 15 years to the post that spawned this monster (thank you eric knudsen)! keep being creative guys ❤️.

Now Watching: The Saw Cinematic Universe!
This is one of my favorite cinematic universes. I have always loved these movies. Its horror, but done right. Scary for the right reasons, but not cheap jump scares. Music is great, who doesn't love Billy? I just recently watched Saw X and decided to make a post or two about it!
Tumblr media
Saw (2004)
Tumblr media
Photographer Adam Stanheight (Leigh Whannell) and oncologist Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) regain consciousness while chained to pipes at either end of a filthy bathroom. As the two men realize they've been trapped by a sadistic serial killer nicknamed "Jigsaw" and must complete his perverse puzzle to live, flashbacks relate the fates of his previous victims. Meanwhile, Dr. Gordon's wife (Monica Potter) and young daughter (Makenzie Vega) are forced to watch his torture via closed-circuit video.
Saw II (2005)
Tumblr media
On the hunt for the twisted vigilante and serial killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), Detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) and his team must apprehend the elusive murderer to rescue eight people trapped in an abandoned house, before they succumb to his torturous and murderous games. One twist to this task is that Matthews' own son, Daniel (Erik Knudsen), is among the eight people Jigsaw has chosen to test for their lack of morality. With nerve gas pumping through the house, every second counts.
Saw III (2006)
Tumblr media
Dr. Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) becomes a pawn in the Jigsaw Killer's (Tobin Bell) latest gory game. Kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse, she finds Jigsaw bedridden and dying. Her task is to keep the maniac alive long enough for Jeff (Angus Macfadyen), a fellow victim, to complete his own task. Each is unaware that Jigsaw has much bigger -- and deadlier -- plans in store.
Saw IV (2007)
Tumblr media
During the autopsy of serial killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), a cassette tape is discovered in his stomach in which he warns that his gory games will continue. Sure enough, SWAT Lt. Daniel Rigg (Lyriq Bent) is forced to follow a blood-drenched trail of torture, dismemberment and death in order to find two missing colleagues. A pair of FBI profilers follow Riggs, suspecting he might be Jigsaw's accomplice, even as they unlock the puzzle of the killer's origins, seen in gruesome flashbacks.
Saw V (2008)
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that fiendish serial killer Jigsaw is dead, his work lives on through a new apprentice, Lieutenant Mark Hoffman, a cop who appeared to be hot on the murderer's trail. As fellow lawman Agent Peter Strahm begins to suspect Hoffman is Jigsaw's protégé, the fledgling killer sets out to dispose of him.
Saw VI (2009)
Tumblr media
With Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) still directing events from beyond the grave, Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) emerges as the heir to the killer's twisted legacy. But as the FBI closes in, Hoffman sets in motion a game that is designed to reveal Jigsaw's grand scheme.
Saw 3D (2010)
Tumblr media
As a fierce battle rages over Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) terrible legacy, survivors seek support from a fellow survivor and self-help guru, who has a few dark secrets of his own. Meanwhile, crooked cop Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) seeks revenge against Jigsaw's wife and an author who has his own story.
Jigsaw (2017)
Tumblr media
After a series of murders bearing all the markings of the Jigsaw killer, law enforcement officials find themselves chasing the ghost of a man who has been dead for over a decade, and they become embroiled in a new game that's only just begun. Is John Kramer back from the dead to remind the world to be grateful for the gift of life? Or is this a trap set by a killer with designs of his own?
Spiral (2021)
Tumblr media
Working in the shadow of his father, Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks and his rookie partner take charge of an investigation into grisly murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer's morbid game.
Saw X (2023)
Tumblr media
Hoping for a miraculous cure, John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure, only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer uses deranged and ingenious traps to turn the tables on the con artists.
Great series. I love this. There is no movie quite like this set, and its inspired movies since its inception. Different people have been involved in it, but it has always retained its quirks. Tobin Bell is amazing. If you have not seen any of them, look out for the chronological order post to see how to properly experience this!

Creepypasta general headcanons
Tumblr media
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚general head cannons for the creeps⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
characters ; jeff the killer, ben drowned, slender man, eyeless jack & nina
fandom ; creepypasta
note ; i didn't know if you wanted all in one or just a few so i picked 5 out and just added some in all ones at the end!
DONT INTERACT IF 13-
jeff the killer ~jefferey woods~
while chasing a victim in the forests he's probably accidently swinged at himself which caused him to get really hurt at least once.
he has little bite marks in the collar of his cotton shirts cause whenever he gets nervous, he bites his collars, for sure.
his room is the blandest in the whole manor, he seriously does not give a shit about decorating his room.
in my opinion he's also just like a walking zombie.
and last but not least... i personally think instead of him being all lanky, thin, brittle boned (aka how zombies would be) he's actually like hella buff.
ben drowned ~benjamin lawmen~
ben doesn't age, ever. hes gonna be a 12 year old forever.
he can also float, go through walls, doors, make lights flicker by using energy, overall, just whatever ghosty ghosts do!
and i don't think he teleports through tv's or whatever but actually he can find people easier through them.
slender man ~eric knudsen~
like mentioned before i said manor instead of the established mansion because i feel as slender man would find mansions just un useful and whatnot and just overall just strongly prefer manors any day.
slender man is not a "loving father" to the creeps but instead he is a greedy, acquisitive, rapacious, being towards them and not at all petrified to act when he doesn't get what he wants.
also, he is a phantom entity who lacks in age wise, which meaning he does not have an age, he is ageless. some may say he could be even in the millions which isn't true in my opinion.
eyeless jack ~jack nicholas~
he only hunts for dinner, he strives on eating new fresh human meat, organs and whatever that is in a human.
he doesn't sleep whatsoever. he has never had shut eye after becoming a creep, isn't that crazy?
he may only see at night whenever he has to hunt. when making the deal the slender man they agreed on allowing jack to see when necessary and slender man gets a new sacrifice and a new... employee you may say?
uses it/its pronouns
nina ~nina hopkins~
she's never liked jeff, ever.
she makes them cute kandi bracelets in her free time.
i never do sexuality head cannons since it just doesn' make sence in my head but she's 100% lesbian.
gay lord overload!!!
reads fanfics on wattpad, qoutev, a03 etc.
IN ALL
they don't just go on random ass killing sprees because why the hell would they?
and no, they don't just do paperwork and meaningless shit like that, they're meant to serve slender man not just do paperwork. not even the big boss slender does paperwork.
everybody hates each other besides jeff and toby may get along okay since they are sort of related not by blood of course but by the fire incidents.
