Two great opportunities to work with our collections, especially if you're into whales
We’re excited to announce that we have open calls for two fellowships at the moment. This is your chance to work with our materials to create something new. First, our long-running creative fellowship is now accepting applications. Each year we select a fellow to spend time researching in our collections and create new artwork in response to the theme of our annual exhibition and programming…

ykw actually? the obsession with sources that are "appropriate" for use in academic spaces is just an excuse to devalue non-dominant knowledges/wisdom/forms of knowing and also a way to prevent us from accurately analysing phenomena we know are real.
it's a way of controlling what we can talk and learn about, and how we talk and learn about it. it's a way of ensuring that The Academy can still dictate the language we have to use, the information we can share, and the ways we can share it. i fucking hate it.

we had a workshop on how to write a specific aims page and i learned so much! i even put myself out there and let other people read my rough draft (that our program had us write prior to the session) to get feedback. the aims page is truly so hard to write; its the selling point of your proposal. looking forward to improving my grant writing skills this year :))

The Cave Canem Fellowship
Ends on November 28, 2022
Since 1996, Cave Canem has awarded Fellowships to more than 500 Black poets.
Cave Canem Fellows are among the most distinguished poets in the field, not only as recipients of the highest literary honors and critical acclaim but also for their service in communities across the country.
Each year a cohort of 10–20 new Fellows is selected based solely on the quality of their poems. Cohorts encompass a range of different aesthetics and poetic practices (the spoken word tradition, formalism, multimedia performance, text-based composition, etc.), to ensure an equity of voices in our gathering—all united by a common purpose to improve craft and find productive space.
