as someone who enjoys both metroid and anime figures, you should know that the metroid dread figma re-release is currently up for preorder, as is the new EMMI figure. both of them look super neat

Day 8232....

It's starting to come together actually. The display as of RIGHT NOW is unlit because i ordered striplights fuck spotlights. and the specifics of each display will change as more of my preorders come in and more of the cases get built but AS OF RIGHT NOW....

The centerpiece of the collection for now, a 1:3 Prime1 Guts. HE'S THREE FEET TALL. THE MAN IS HUGE. Anyway.

A life and times of Guts display. This one is definitely going to change, like I'd rather have the 100 man statue alone but until i build more cases I can't. so for now he gets to be the centerpiece of a whole thing about Guts' experiences and problems. Details:

Please ignore my beverage collection. I like the idea of this statue but I might need to get a new one done because it annoys me that the bangs didn't come out and that the painter made him so light skinned. But for now here it is.

The Golden Age Plus display, aka Figma and Art of War showcase:

Since I put the Figma Femto up front with the Gutses and Casca I swapped him out for the Art of War statue in the back. Appropriate since it's a moment from the Eclipse.

Eventually I want to do a Post-Eclipse display and then Femto and Berserker Guts can move over there, which will make Casca stand out less HAHA RIGHT NOW SHE'S A BIT OF AN ODD ONE OUT but I don't have all the stuff I need for that yet.

So, I have one (already built) case left to fill, and I have one more Prime1 statue (for now), but I only have two ThreeZero Guts figures, two banpresto figures and this nose demon:

So the next one will be sort of random until I have more figures and more cases to start theming more accurately.

But yes for now, that is my update.

We continue our 3D printing with even more Goddess Statues, we are trying to fix the major breaking points like her wings and ironically enough the base that she's meant to sit on.

The third iteration is by far the best so far, which it should be given that we're correcting mistakes every time. We are actually able to remove all the supports this time around but it's not without flaws, so I still have to fix up some issues with the sword and the base. However that being said it looks great so far!

In related news my partner painted one of our Far Darrig prints to be similar to a galaxy/Milky Way pet, so now we have an iridescent axolotl.

Our prints have been improving a lot thanks to this resin printer but we've already spent way too much money on resin just to not go through our whole supply lol.

If this is the first you've heard of this and are curious what we're doing, we've been working on making figures and models for Mabinogi that can be printed since the official game shop refuses to sell merch like that in the modern day, we collect a lot of Mabinogi merch and wanted some figures and models that weren't just Nao or Rua and that weren't super expensive just because they don't make them anymore so you have to buy them from some dude on eBay for way too much. Plus we already have most of those :P

Prior to the resin printer these used to take anywhere from 7 hours to entire days to print, so it's very nice to have something that not only prints faster but can also print details without issue,

We've not created too much just yet but what we have worked on has been really exciting. I hope to eventually make figma sized character models with interchangable parts so I could technically make anyone's character into a "figma" but we're a way off from that still.

if you could have either 1 giant ash ketchum statue (theoretically unlimited in terms of size) or 100 (different) small pieces of ash ketchum merch, which would you choose?

I actually have an Ash statue that is pretty big!. Its 1/3rd scale!!! Here's a picture (life size Pokemon Center Pokeball for scale)

I already have a fair amount of Ash merch but there are a lot of old shirts and jackets that feature Ash on them that were only made in kid sizes and I would love to have them in sizes that actually fit me, however, one thing I have mentioned in the past many years ago now was that I wanted a life sized poseable Ash statue/figure (think like the Figma/Medicom figures they made of him a few years back but life sized or a bit bigger because he is TINY, maybe one thats like 5'6") and all of the outfits (made out of actual cloth like the Medicom figure) hes ever worn, completely interchangeable (as well as a room to keep it in that would literally just be an Ash shrine!.

Or unlimited size you say? how does Statue of Liberty sized Ash sound!!!!

Thoughts on frame arms girls and megami device?

I think they're really neat though I'll admit it's a figure niche that I'll probably never get into myself. I remember seeing some non-poseable megami device girl (I think?) that I thought was really good because I'm a statue figure guy and not a fan of joint or figma style figures. But the way her stand was made me really nervous because it looked like she had too much weight on one leg so it'd eventually bend. The figure might have been an artists mecha girl oc that got a special koto figure and not actually a megami or frame arms girl.

I actually don't remember any official life-sized Bastion statue (there were official life-sized statues made for stuff like cons and such, just not one of Bastion), but what I was referring to in that last post was, as far as I'm concerned, the "white whale" of Overwatch figure collecting.

The incredible, the elusive, and the unauthorized:

DX9 Freeman

A fully articulated and transforming translation of bird-loving bot into roughly 1/12th scale figure form, this is a godly Bastion figure.

It comes with everything you'd expect and hope for besides maybe an alternative welding hand. There's a little plastic Ganymede, and even treads and a cannon to you can swap out the gatling gun and legs for to replicate their Tank configuration, though now it'd be more accurate to just swap the legs for Assault mode and swap the cannon for Artillery mode, which like. the design was accidentally future proofed for the OW2 rework, I just find that neat.

Aside from the tank parts though, the transformation is completely legit. You bend the legs to form the stand, fold up the arms, retract the head, and swivel the torso around and pull down the back cannon to get it into turret form, just like the in-game animation. It's a testament to both the exceptional amount of thought and effort put into the character's original design, and the engineering required to make it into a functional model.

So... what's the catch. Obviously the perfect Bastion figure doesn't come without a catch, right?

Well. Notice how I called this figure "DX9 Freeman". Why isn't it just called... y'know, Bastion?

You might've been able to deduce by this point that this figure is in fact: Unofficial. DX9 is, from what I can gather, a Chinese company that specializes in making high-quality unofficial transforming figures for stuff like Transformers. Naturally, when a mega popular and relevant new game comes out with an iconic transforming robot, they decided to make this figure.

And this was back in 2017 or so, well before the Hasbro line, with I think the only thing out by then being maybe the Tracer Figma. It was slim pickings if you wanted an Overwatch guy on your shelf back then, so "Freeman" here caught on. Even when other figures started rolling in, there were no official figures of Bastion. There was a Lego set and an above-average Funko Pop in terms of both looks and size, but nothing else would just about perfectly fit in line with the proper action figures.

Sadly though, it was a spark short-lived, as it is basically impossible to find the figure now. The direct site to find it has been out of stock for years, and I doubt many people who already have one are willing to part with theirs for cheap, if at all.

So yeah. This is by far the best but most elusive Overwatch figure out there as far as I'd say. It's a basically perfect recreation of the character (save for a flat paint job, if you wanna be picky), but by nature of being an unlicensed figure from 6 years ago now, jesus christ, it didn't stick around for long and is nearly impossible to come across today, and even if you miraculously somehow find a secondhand seller today, I have a feeling it ain't gonna be cheap.

If I could magically wish for any mundane object that wouldn't technically benefit my life in any drastic way, it'd be one of these. Bastion's one of my favorite designs in a game full of fantastic character designs, so having a big ol' unit of a figure that offers a physical way to showcase the coolest part of that design with the game-accurate transforming feature would be... more personally exciting than I'm willing to admit.

Anyways yeah, full breakdown of every figure line and what characters are in which coming soon. Wanted to clear up Bastion first anyways, both because it's such a cool figure and also such a specific asterisk that's worth bringing up but not totally fair to include in a breakdown of official figures that are more easily and consistently available for most people without getting lucky.

My April 2023 toy haul got here yesterday.  I’m so happy with my “larger” sized Bubble Head Nurse. I got the Figma version when they originally released that one, but she’s kind of tiny. I wish I would have gotten the Gecco 1:6 (2013) one too. Sadly, I didn’t know much about Gecco back then, and they were kind of pricey for the time (I would have traded a kidney for the Red Pyramid x Mannequin one, but I was hesitant with them as well, and now that statue really does go for more than a kidney! Lol!).

I once again got too many acrylic items. I wish I could stop, and I’m probably making good progress towards it (I’m seriously limiting my pre-orders of those items). However, this was so much money on just the acrylic AoT stuff, that it was painful when I had to pay for this order. S/h was also a painful experience, mostly due to the “mini” poster, which is not that big, but they packaged it as if it were a regular sized poster... but flattened (because it is plastic)! >___>;;; My wallet won’t soon be recovering! They one thousand percent could have shipped everything in a much, much smaller box. DX
