Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on June 22, publisher Thunderful Games and developer Dejima announced. The existing PC (Steam) version will receive a free upgrade to the DX version on the same day.
Here is an overview of the game, via Thunderful Games:
Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is an overhauled and rebalanced version of the game that hit PC late last year. It offers new enemies, reworked environments, a rebalanced difficulty curve, a streamlined upgrade tree, improved level design, and much more. Thanks to these tweaks, a play style focused on extinguishing enemies is now more viable, with players now receiving more additional time for extinguishing fiery foes. Players will find that exits are now easier to discover, water refills will be more readily available when they are running low, and the income system has been rebuilt from the ground up.
Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is a roguelite platformer where you take on the role of a young fire rescue officer breathing new life into her rundown local fire station. Armed with your trusty axe and high-pressure fire hose that also doubles as a jetpack, respond to emergency calls that bring you to dangerous procedurally generated blazes across the city. When Firegirl arrives on the scene, she has three minutes to save all the civilians caught in the blaze! Extinguish fire monsters to buy more time in these tricky missions where you will feel the heat as you battle to get the job done. Uncover the truth of why these fires have engulfed the city, in a mystery that goes all the way to the top!
Between high-octane missions where you will be boosting your jumps with your hose, extinguishing dastardly pyro-monsters, and rescuing trapped civilians (and cats!), you can hang out at the Firehouse. Here, you can upgrade your equipment and hire new staff to make you more effective in tackling the challenging blazes to come. You’ll need all the help you can get to survive in this fun, thrilling and tricky roguelite!
“The original release of Firegirl on PC gave us invaluable feedback on how we could improve the experience significantly ahead of a console release,” said Dejima founder Julien Ribassin in a press release. “With the completely reworked and rebalanced version of the game that is Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX, we’ve kept everything that was great about the original version and reworked the wrinkles to provide a definitive version of the game. Look forward to it on June 22.”

Review: Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX
Those seeking a slower-paced action-platformer with a mix of real-time resource management thrown in will adore Firegirl Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX. It’s a tough, but fair game and one that feels a lot more fair than the original release thanks to tweaks with the balance and an in-game rewards system. If you’re in the mood for a fun, challenging adventure and have an affinity for side-scrolling action, Firegirl Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is a must-buy.

Firegirl: Hack 'n Splash Rescue Review
Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue Review
The concept of a firefighting game with a woman as the lead is immediately attention grabbing. Developer Dejima does well at making a great looking, playing, and feeling game centered around Firegirl. However, Firegirl: Hack ’n Splash Rescue fails to spark any long-term interest despite having a metagame for improving yourself and the firehouse you work for, the more you play. There’s some…

Firegirl: Hack 'n Splash Rescue! (Nintendo Switch) - Le test
Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue! (Nintendo Switch) – Le test

Thunderful Publishing and developer Dejima have delayed the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of action rescue platformer Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue from their previously planned December 14 release date to 2022. The PC version will still launch as planned on December 14.
“We’re of course disappointed that we have to delay Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue‘s release on consoles, but it’s important to us to deliver a quality title to console players and delaying those versions until 2022 is what we had to do to achieve that,” said Dejima founder Julien Ribassin in a press release. “We’re really excited to be releasing the game on PC on December 14, and hope players will enjoy checking out our latest developer commentary for a sneak peak at what’s coming, look forward to another video soon!”

Review: Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue
Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue isn’t necessarily a hot mess or a dumpster fire, but it is a rather unstable experiment made of promising elements that went up in smoke. The basic platforming and firefighting action is enjoyable enough, but the rest of the possible enjoyment is buried under a mound of RNG, bad procedurally-generated levels and a lack of good progression. Unless you’re up for a big challenge, this is one title likely to leave you cold instead.
