*I like the idea of her muteness actually being a curse caused by her mom inadvertently cursing her into silence during one of her verbal rants. ("Just be quiet forever!") Something something fae magic forcing her into obedience a la Ella Enchanted idk. It doesn't make sense and isn't at all accurate to the traditional fae mythos but dammit I'm sticking with it until the game inevitably contradicts the idea.

I don't think I have many favorite places in Eden, although it's not that I don't like it here! God forbid! As I already said, it is very beautiful and charming here! After all, this is my HOME! It's just that this place is so small that there's really nothing to tell about it...

Here though! I love hanging around Foxglove, it's nice to see it in working order and realize that I had a hand, uh... Well, not literally a hand, of course, but I definitely had something to do with making it work! She is great!

But from other places, maybe I love the rest of Eden a little? I just don't think it makes sense to stand here and rant about how much I liked the tomatoes in someone's garden, ha ha ha!

Well, if we talk about how often I went beyond it, then... Yes? At first I rarely did this, because it was unusual for me and I was afraid of getting lost (and I can do this very well), but in general, over time, I became bored sitting within five and a half streets, so out of curiosity I began to climb and city! Plus, you'd be foolish not to take advantage of the opportunity to explore the surface! Now I can move on my own! Having legs and all... That's a definite plus when it comes to exploration, isn't it?

Npd culture is reading an article that says that npd can be caused by giving a child excessive praise and Yes, but also that makes it sound like the child is just a spoiled brat or whatever. It has to be in a way that’s traumatizing because npd is a traumagenic disorder. Me personally, my family used to tell me I was smarter/more talented/generally better than any other kid and because of that, whenever I acted like a normal kid my age and wasn’t automatically perfect at everything, they’d abuse me for it. Which. Led to me falling apart when I wasn’t perfect at everything because I was TAUGHT that that meant something was wrong with me even though. That’s completely normal. Medic

The two of you have been friends for a few years, with your garden on the outside of his lab he likes to chat with you out his window. 

Since you work with plants and their toxins he likes to listen to you talk about the poisons and the effects they have on living organisms 

Lets you ramble while he sits there with his head in his palm giving you a large maniacal smile. 

He is a deranged man so he is VERY interested with the effects some of these plants have on humans, if you dare mention something that could be used as a weapon against humans he is whipped and looking at you with large sparkling eyes.

You have a lot of poisonous plants in your greenhouse, and some in medic’s lab as decoration (be it they’re safer to be around) 

Medic accepts any gifts like this with open arms and a large maniacal smile on his lips

Would buy you books on plants, and like A LOT of books

Lets you use body parts for your studies, or just straight up enemy teammates he took from the battlefield for you.

 “Oh Ja! before i forgot here :)”   “Medic is that the blu scout”  “Ja :)” 

You two work together with his syringe guns and you make them more deadly, so he can actually protect himself. 

Things like cardiac glycosides from foxgloves you would coat the syringes in and gift them to him and medic would give a large goofy evil smile.

If you haven’t finished your degree he aids you in studies (he had a medical license.. once) 

Confesses his love to you with a bundle of foxgloves, yellow oleanders, euphorbia and calla lilies (don't worry hes wearing gloves)

Engineer

Engineer and you have been friends for a while, and after a few drinks you mention your degree that you are pursuing. 

He gives you snacks and drinks while you are studying.

He’s got 11 phds of course he’s going to help you.

Even if he hasn’t done anything within the realm of plant toxins he tries to help, makes you a small greenhouse which you can customize and change the environment within to grow more of these plants. 

“Engi!? This is so cool, holy shit!” “Well thanks darlin’, all the best for you” 

Still a hc of mine he calls you darlin’, sugar and other pet names while hes crushing on you.

Listen, he may be a southern gentleman but he is a maniac who cut off his hand. He will first ask you if you need any human parts for your studies, if you say yes he’s on a mission to get the enemy spy. Listen, it's killing two birds with one stone.

You two work together in a comfortable silence, apart from the occasional radio or pyro’s muffled speaking it’s full of you studies your plants and engineer tinkering (and studying you) 

Plays his guitar for you, and gets you away from work when you’re too stressed. 

He will look up types of toxic plants and will give them to you, more the seeds if anything. 

Lets you ramble about your studies, he sits next to you with a beer in his hand and his guitar in the other. Strumming it softly as you rant about your work, smiling as you talk passionately about it.

Loves to spend quality time with you, doesn’t matter if you two are silently working on two separate things he loves that he’s around you. 

He confesses one night, while the sun is setting around the campfire he would remove his hard hat. Smile and with a stutter he confesses his love to you.

Reminded me of the time when I tried to climb a tree in muree that was on a mountain and nearly fell off both the tree and mountain.

I hate seeing aesthetic pictures on here that link to Instagram because more and more these pictures are AI generated, but people repost them here and reblog them because they look pretty unless you have an eye for the details (and are becoming more and more of a cynic). Rant under the cut with the picture that set me off.

Take this, for example: (no, I'm not linking back to a machine's work. AI can die xoxo)

I would've thought this was an English cottage except something about those yellow roses set me off. The lighting is wrong, for one. They are too bright to be naturally growing against the cottage, and they don't cast a shadow like they should. Another tell are the foxgloves at the left. They are so much clearer than the other plants around them, as if they were cut and pasted there. AI uses detail to overwhelm the viewer, and it doesn't understand that there's a balance to be had. If these two things weren't there, yeah, I'd fall for this at first glance. (Except then those tree branches.... when you notice one wrong thing with an AI image, everything looks wrong)

Those roses must be defying gravity to do that.

But something else that keeps becoming A Tell for me is the use of blur in foreground objects. Don't get me wrong, manual focus and macro settings enable this, but I struggle to believe that such a composition can be maintained with automatic focus on digital and phone cameras, which most people would be using, especially on a site like Instagram. Again, it's another detail to overwhelm the viewer, especially if you zoom in.

Cool. It's outlined somehow. Yeah, blurry and out-of-focus objects totally double themselves in real life. (That's pixelation from poor, poor image quality, something AI is limited--for now--to.)

Aw, AI tried making the camera shake to be relatable (this isn't the limitations of soulless tech, not at all).

All those fruits and magically the tree doesn't bend or break.

Like. There are beautiful things in this world and talented photographers, but AI is making an absolute mockery of it.

first you need background:

zira has a knee injury that she first got in a military mission. it never had time to heal right and even Healers couldn’t fix it. the only way to actually fix it is to rebreak it so then the Healers can do their thing. zira doesn’t want to relive the trauma of getting the injury so she refuses and deals with the chronic pain of it

now, the actual dilemma:

so there’s a scene in book two where foxglove is keeping her own sister (zira) hostage. partially to appease the nobles and partially because foxglove is doing what she believes is best for her sister. she thinks that by keeping zira locked up, she is keeping zira from hurting herself/endangering foxgloves crown (and therefore her ability to control what happens to them)

due to a deal foxglove makes with the nobles/rebels, foxglove has to have zira tortured essentially. (deal: if zira is punished for her crimes, then the nobles/rebels will support foxglove’s rule)

i realized recently that foxglove, following her desperate need to try and fix zira/make her life better would also probably have zira’s leg healed

this would be perfect because it continues the fact that foxglove is never malicious. she wants the best for her sister and herself but her methods are brutal and have collateral

only problem is, i was planning on keeping zira’s knee injury as smth that carries on forever and learns to live with (make peace with her disability and stop seeing it as a weakness)

but the foxglove-force-healing has so much angst!

Maya Emery, now Agent Supervisor Foxglove, joined the Agency straight out of college. She was originally assigned to work at Control Point Babadag, though never ended up going due to the events of Operation K'BOOM.

She was reassigned to a different location and ran multiple successful missions with Agent (REDACTED). She has yet to be assigned to a different agent after the agent was reported M.I.A during Operation (REDACTED).

OKAY now that that's over, I'm gonna keep ranting about them. They've all got codenames and stuff and I like to believe that, when you make friends here, you're on a last name basis. They're all on that terms with each other.

They're all part of a huge gossip chain among other handlers, and they all ADORE talking shit about their agents. Absolute adoration. They all really like hearing about the bullshit Phoenix does, and they've all almost called Mr. Crane "Dad" at least once. Thankfully, none have succumbed to the urge.

Myeong is 25, Madden is 28, Nilsen is 24, Emery is 21. They all liked John Juniper until he was revealed to be part of Zoraxis. They, among all the other handlers, pull "pranks" that they claim are tame, but are shit like putting bombs in people's desks. None of them have gotten sleep in the past year, they're all busy doing paperwork, so they rely on drugs, alcohol, and caffeine in order to not die.

There is a "playlist" they have. Aka a record player. There are sticky notes that people put nearby requesting songs or requesting songs be taken off. Someone stole a record because they hated it, somebody else stole another in retaliation. So now there's always a record missing.

Shawn hates Myeong because they never file their paperwork correctly. Myeong put a fish in his desk but he could never prove it was them.

Madden is arguably the most responsible, along with Nilsen, but she's very chaotic and probably has set a few things on fire. She also takes the others to the theatre when they manage to get off work.

Nilsen was really good friends with Ollie before Ollie went off to work for Zoraxis. He always believed Ollie didn't know Zoraxis was evil, and that got proved when Ollie got back because he DID survive and I won't stand to believe otherwise.

Emery gets called "Emi" more often than not not only because of her last name, but because of her initials "M.E." They make a lot of jokes about it. She was a tad bit traumatized after losing her first agent, who she had been friends with, but oh well.

That agent is alive actually, and one of the people I am currently trying to bully in a discord server. She and Emi (jokingly) make fun of the others in front of them, but they can't prove any of that because they're speaking French.

Essak and caduceus talking

so in my newest story I have made this sad moment

Essek speaking "why do you insist on letting the pain take you?"

caduceus spoke "they don't they shouldn't have to be burdened by my mess honestly.

they all froze they cracked the door open enough they could all see what was going on there was Essek on the balcony with caduceus who was currently coughing softly 

"you should probably get that treated. Are you sure you don't it's not tuberculosis?" caduceus snorts "it's far worse actually basically growing an entire flower garden in my lungs."

Esseks's face was fear twisted "wait i thought you did you suffer this before?"

"yeah but it stopped a couple months after I met the mighty 9 and we went off saving the world." he wheezed a bit then "why won't you let them help you why won't you accept the fact you are loved why won't you let yourself be loved you give so much love and yet you won't let yourself receive that love even from yourself self love is important just as important as any other."

"don't want them being dragged into my mess."

"you're not dragging them into your mess." said Essek "please now I see why you like foxgloves and spider Lily so much they fit you of course they do."

"how is that?" the other man asked "because you're insincere in the way you say you are fine you are insincere in the way you do not let others care you lie to yourself kill your own self you are letting yourself die you care about them so much you're honestly worse than Caleb right now."

Essek then put a hand on caduceus and said "what flowers fit me the best?"

"purple irises," they noticed how Essek immediately picked up on the fact caduceus was about to go into a panic spiral really "why is that?"

"those flowers mean knowledge and wisdom you were wise in your decision to change your ways and you are wise and trying to change the outcome of future events you can cause rather than past events."

there was a soft smile "what's my brother's."

"Forget me nots."

"Really forget me nots." he said pondering.

"mm-hmm he does not let you forget how much he loves you he's very affectionate gives good hugs."

"why won't you let them love you why won't you welcome the men because last time that happened, I don't want to talk about it."

is there another reason why you don't eat meat?"

"yeah three years into myself isolation I lost my mind I was super hungry and it was the middle of winter I was starving I had been starving myself for a couple of weeks and then I snapped and then I killed someone and ate his flesh." essek spoke "that must be hard."

caducues gave a bitter smile and spoke more "some days I space out so much that I go into what is called instincts mode and when we were traveling back I did get in a fight with someone it was on our way back after we saved the people and helped the gentleman out before he died and we got in a fight I went into the bathroom when I was so scared that I had accidentally eaten someone again that I thought I could still see flesh in between my teeth also I just don't like the way meat tastes." the rant was heart breaking

Essex looked at him "I'm sorry what I'm sorry that you had to deal with that when you were alone for 10 years." the whole group listing were frozen with the realization caduceus was hurting and they wanted to help but something was holding them back

caduceus smiled "that's fine."

"no it's not. please what's the easiest way to get rid of the flowers in your lungs what do you think you've been doing to yourself... you been giving out too much let yourself be selfish please we don't want to see you in pain don't think your friends will forgive me." essek sounded scared and caduceus looked at him with unreadable eyes

" no. our friends," he said "their are our friends." essek sighed as he went to hug the man who returned it.

"I've been seeing you form the habit of putting flowers and everyone's hair."

"yeah." essk then asked "why do it?"

"so that you can put flowers in my hair when I die whenever that happens maybe one night I'll go to sleep the next night and never wake up no matter how many times jester tries to use a diamond or a gemstone on me to revive me I will never come back I want to give them something to Remember Me by."

he said very somberly as he looked out to the night sky it was early nighttime.

Verin had got in very late and that was the point he didn't want anyone else to think it's suspicious. night time was easier to blend in and get into the Chateau than it was during the daytime 

"Do you wish to die?" Asked essek fearfully.
