Freddie Ljungberg was the star of the Swedish national team for 10 years. 9 of them turned him off from Arsenal. As the most expensive Swede of all time, the midfielder, who played on the wings, came to London for 3 million pounds. As two-time Premier League champion and three-time FA Cup winner, he left Arsenal. We will never forget the wonderful underwear pictures of him. Welcome, Freddie! Bukayo Saka has paid tribute to Freddie Ljungberg after the coach left Arsenal (Picture: Getty)Bukayo Saka has paid tribute to Freddie Ljungberg after the Arsenal legend left his role as Mikel Arteta’s assistant manager to pursue new opportunities. Gunners legend Ljungberg returned to the club in 2018, first working with Arsenal’s U23 side and then acting as interim boss following Unai Emery’s sacking. Ljungberg was Arteta’s assistant during the second-half of the 2019-20 season but has left Arsenal ahead of the new campaign to ‘progress his management experience’. Sweden hero Ljungberg enjoyed a special relationship with a number of Arsenal academy players, including Saka, who enjoyed a breakthrough season at the Emirates. Reacting to Ljungberg’s departure, 18-year-old Saka said: ‘Freddie has given us all so much valuable advice and support. He’s a fantastic coach and someone we all look up to. We love you, @Freddie! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/cU0HOZv3Ir — Arsenal (@Arsenal) August 22, 2020‘I’m just so grateful that I’ve been able to work alongside and learn directly from someone like him at this early part of my career.’ Arteta added: ‘Freddie has been a really important member of my team since my arrival. ‘He did a great job picking the team up when Unai left and we all have 100 per cent respect for him as a man and a coach. Now he has the opportunity to consider other options, and it makes sense for his career at this time. ‘Freddie has made a huge contribution in his coaching role, most importantly when he led the team during that difficult period between Unai’s departure and Mikel’s appointment. ‘We will forever be grateful for what he did then and what he’s done since but fully recognise his desire to move on and be a head coach himself.’ #ArsenalFC #BukayoSaka #FreddieLjungberg

Arsenal fans were over the moon after the core of Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff was announced by the club. It was announced Freddie Ljungberg, Steve Round, Inaki Cana Pavon and Albert Stuivenberg will be the four men to directly assist the Spaniard (via Arsenal). The move sees Ljungberg return to the role he took up when he joined the first-team during last summer. Round joins after amassing a wealth of coaching experience with English clubs having worked at Newcastle United, Everton, Middlesbrough and Manchester United. Meanwhile, Pavon joins the club having left his position as goalkeeping coach at Championship outfit Brentford. Finally, Stuivenberg joins the club having just qualified for Euro 2020 with the Welsh national team as Ryan Giggs’ assistant. Fans were left feeling quite excited with the news about the club’s new backroom staff as they took to Twitter to react.
