So I have this theory about ships.

I've spent the last 15 years or so raging against "The Moonlighting Curse" as my own personal nemesis (also known more in fannish parlance as Shipping Bed Death). I find the idea that a couple being together is by its very nature boring super fucking maddening. I think if you can't write people in love and together in an interesting way, it just means you haven't learned how to do that yet. It's very often the cook, not the ingredients, you know?

There are a lot of stories that get characters together badly, though, that can't be disputed. Getting a couple together does scuttle some narratives. And while I do think some of it has to do with the fact that "will they/won't they" has a lot of tropes that can act as crutches for bad writers, and interesting and functional couples require more skill to write because there isn't enough of a similar scaffold to work from...there's another aspect I been thinking about lately. And that's intensity.

See, the reason "will they/won't they" is so juicy is because of the sexual tension, right? That intensifies all the interactions between the two characters, which gets us way more invested. A lot of our fav shit, like rivals to lovers, starcrossed lovers, etc etc etc, it's about creating circumstances that also amp up the tension and therefore the intensity.

When the sexual tension breaks, the first thing writers often do is look for new ways of adding in tension. A very large percentage of the time, that's by creating rifts between the characters in question, or tearing them apart in some way. The problem with that - beyond making the fans/viewer/reader feel jerked around - is that it's usually not intensifying the right thing. By focusing on the tension for its own sake, you can miss intensifying the actual draw, which is the power of the relationship itself. You can actually break your ship by trying to intensify it too hard with tension, especially by having characters lie and cheat on each other and otherwise treat each other terribly. Like sure, sometimes people like to experience characters destroying each other from the inside out! But that's not the draw of ships for a lot of people. Sometimes it's just sad, and not even in a fun way.

But here's the thing! Tension is not the only intensifier that exists. You can, for instance, intensify a relationship in canon by making them absolutely batshit insane about each other. My theory is that what we need more of is ships that get together and become fucking Morticia and Gomez Addams about it. Just doing the absolute MOST all the time in a way that no people in their right mind would do in real life. Just make them absolutely bonkers.

Crank that fucking dial baybeeeee. They are so, so in love and it would be alarming if it weren't so beautiful.

iii. I talk too much about H:SR now. Something about this crack thing stimulated me in a good way. The last few days may have been somehow tough for our wyler community. Shippers and their ships could be the core of fandoms, and I am really sorry that in 2023 someone still doesn't get the lesson…anyway…

I decided to make a post sharing some of the fan-fictions which made the last 2 days brighter after knowing that Jenna Ortega is killing the romance in Wednesday- which I repeat, is not bad for Wyler since we couldn't get any romance in s2 anyway as you can read in my previous post. I just hope this is not going to affect the unresolved sexual tension between Tyler and Wednesday. I am curious to see if views won't drop without that. Because audience is fickle and untamable: dear Jenna, today they are clapping when you say "no romance" then in 2 years (when we will be even farther from the effects of covid 19 on people's emotional life) will start complaining about the lack of intensity in the series. For me, this is a challenge and I am curious to see who's right here.

We are forced to accept the decision to castrate Wednesday Addams, dark and sarcastic woman, yes, but still daughter of one of the most passionate couples (Morticia and Gomez Addams). How is possible that to prove women's independence and strength in 2023 we still have to castrate them? Did men do anything like this since the beginning of civilization? My new fixation (until Owl House returns) is now the new show Wednesday and specifically the Wednesday and Enid (Wenclair) ship. The shows not even out and yet my stupid monkey brain has latched onto it and you all will suffer with this.

This is purely some Wenclair scenes I hope plays out in some way:

1. Wednesday does not like to be touched, unless by family or if she initiates it. And I'm sure that Enid will probably be the opposite, but I also hope that Enid will respect Wednesday's boundaries. I can see a short scene of Enid maybe grabbing Wednesday's shoulder and as usual Wednesday threatens her and says never to touch her again. So from that point on, Enid then interferes with anyone else that tries to touch Wednesday.

Character A: "Let's go check this out!" *goes to grab Wednesday's hand*

Enid *leaping over and smacking their hand away*: "absolutely not! Wednesday does not like to be touched and she would appreciate it if you don't!"

Wednesday *after a beat of silence and judgment*: "Thank you, Enid. I may rethink my carefully thought out premeditated murder I had planned for you"

Enid *the embodiment of a happy dog wagging its tail*

2. This other one is a bit more absurd and purely Wenclair delusion fuel. But, it seems like Wednesday might also be an outcast at Nevermore. This might be due to the fact that she is just not supernatural. We see that there is werewolves, vampires, sirens, etc., that attended this school. Now even though Morticia and Gomez also attended maybe times have changed and the school has shifted into purely supernatural beings. Maybe some of the werewolves start picking on Wednesday (of course she can handle her own) but Enid is too worried about her new friend.

Wednesday is out of the room

Enid *sprints over and rubs her scent on it*

Character A on video call: "Dude! Did you just scent her stuff?!?"

So, I have more things to say about shipping discourse.

Shipping is fine. I think shipping can enrich a person's experience with their favorite media. But here's the problem, I think so many people have gotten lost in the escapism of shipping that it's interfering with their ability to enjoy some media for what it is.

No, not all shipping is for escapism and no, I'm not saying that *everyone* who ships is doing it for escapism. What I'm saying is that there are enough people who ship solely for escapism and cannot separate themselves from their ships that it is interfering in the most negative way possible with the way they consume media in general.

I don't know where it starts. I don't know if it's because some people need to work on deprioritizing romance in order to get more out of their lives or if it's the amount of "reader inserts" they read (and nothing wrong with reading those kinds of fanfics--I've read AND written them before--but I think it's becoming largely the majority of what people in these spaces read), but it feels like a lot of people go into a new piece of media thinking, "Who is going to be the best to ship here!"

Look, I have my share of favorite ships. Gomez/Morticia, Eve/Rick, and Harley/Ivy are among them. There is a bit of an escapist element to my love for them. Does part of me watch and read stuff surrounding these characters enjoy thinking about what it would be like to be in those kinds of relationships? Absolutely! However, I do not treat all my favorite ships this way because not all ships should be idealized.

When it comes to a show like IWTV, neither Loustat nor Loumand are written to be idealized, but I think a lot of the fandom see a cast full of pretty people and automatically interact with it in a way that places themselves in these couples. I think a lot of the fandom wanted to put themselves in Louis's place to fantasize about having Lestat's love directed at them, and when it turned out that Lestat is a cheater and an abuser, they couldn't handle that. Add to this that the fandom has a largely white-centered audience it seems, and now you have people scrambling to poke holes in Louis's story, not bothering to understand the racist implications of that. It's just easier to imagine themselves doing something different in order to prevent that abuse from happening. And then some jumped to Loumand expecting Armand to be some sort of savior and others who hated Loumand because it didn't center around their favorite white guy, and again, this is about inserting themselves into their ship. They don't want to receive the love of a man of color--and yes, this is often about race regardless of whether the fandom wants to address it or not.

And besides what was already explained, this really does set a viewer up to be disappointed over and over again. This isn't Twilight and Louis is not Bella. There is intentional nuance written in this story because love is complex. Love is not always good no matter how it makes us feel in the best of times. And love is not always a good enough reason to save a relationship, especially if that relationship is dangerous.

Ship what you want, but if you want a better experience with this show, you need to expand your reasons for why you want to enjoy media this way.

Can men do any form of divination work in your interpretation of outcasts? There have been plenty of male psychics, but none doing Wednesday's sort of magic. Though very few men were accused during the most well-known witch trials (though there were still some), there were many men accused in other countries like Russia Many authors intentionally choose to exclude male witches from their work simply because there's plenty of male representation already, but it varies whether not that means no men at all or if simply none are presented to the audience. So I'm curious to know your view on it in the context of outcasts and the Network (I will say I'm only on chapter 21 so there may be a character I'm not aware of yet)

I just snorted; there is a character you are loosely aware of and haven’t met in-person yet as of chapter twenty-one and oh boy, can he perform psychic/magic-adjecent feats.  For the magic “rules” I have in place in CftF, anyone is capable of tapping into the energy of the universe and perform feats of divination, though obviously Psychics, particularly Seers, would be more naturally inclined to be open to these channels due to their Outcast abilities. Wednesday’s lineage on the Frump side and the whole “homespun magic” piece is intentionally matriarchal. Indeed, all the way up to the end, you will notice that only women (outside of QBB in the ether) have been seen doing divination in the story regardless of the Frump family, though. Is this a coded message that women are stronger than men in this area within the CftF world? Or does the author just think about men so infrequently that she didn’t even consider to include any males in the scenes that involved these practices, lmfao?

In general - my writings are by The Girls™ for The Girls™ All other genders and expressions of gender are welcome to read of course, but might not find themselves connecting as deeply as I specifically call to some of the female and lesbian struggle, written by a lesbian who really writes for herself, and edited only by lesbian eyes as well lol (even before Wednesday and Enid are together in chapter 13 - the subtext of her struggle prior to is related to that experience). I used to write a lot of stories that featured men more, including het ships. Now I’m like, “Why would I write something that I don’t really like?” And I don’t really like men lol. (To be fair I also do not have great men in my real life who inspire me in any capacity, I am constantly having to teach them very basic things, do their jobs for them and/or remind them that I am not just here to be used - I do know there are good men out there, T. Martel’s father being one of them a la Gomez). (I think Kate McKinnon’s team has scrubbed lot of her pre-SNL content from the internet…she used to have an interview from when she worked on LogoTV that explained this so well that I can’t find anymore.) Regardless, the entire world centers men, and my 1.4 million word story was a place where that simply would not happen. As an author I absolutely try to center women and write from a lesbian lens as often as it is appropriate and makes sense for the story. We will be seeing more Gomez and Pugs in the sequel though as the first 300k will probably be taking place prior to arriving at Nevermore for the fall semester and be far more Addams family (which includes Enid now) centric. I recently finished an extremely heartwarming father-daughter part of chapter one and it tugged on my own heartstrings, lol. I would love to play with more Gomez and Morticia pre-children visions or memories if I can find a way to meaningfully incorporate them into the story. I think that Gomez’s love for his wife is a conduit for her to tap into more powerful divination practices - she is a light seeker, and her husband is part of where she draws inspiration (even if it grosses Wednesday and I out lol). This was very briefly mentioned when Wednesday asked if she had a difficult time conceiving when she realized that it was nearly seventeen years into Gomez and Morticia's relationship before she was born. Love power is real lmfao.

💖- what is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?

So I’m just gonna say this about all of Star Wars in general specifically the newer stuff that’s been coming out lately as well as the future projects they’ve announced to us (minus the Tales of the Empire I’m genuinely excited for that because BARRISS 💙) but in my OPINION they’re focusing on all the wrong characters and spending too much time and money into mediocre storylines when there’s so much more they can be doing. Like the Ahsoka wasn’t really about Ahsoka herself and where they decided to take that show was very strange and weak. Andor head was boring as hell to me and there wasn’t much pay off in there for any of the characters. Bad Batch is only good when the episode isn’t about the Bad Batch themselves but about another character people actually like (I.e Ventress, Rex, etc.). Mando went off the rails in its third season because in my opinion Mando and Grogu’s story ended beautifully with that badass Luke Skywalker finale.

Now before everyone get all butthurt and all up in their feelings, remember that 1.) this is my own unpopular opinion I’m allowed to have and 2.) yes I’m aware I can pick and choose what to watch and not to watch and that if I don’t like a show I won’t watch it. What I’m saying is that the stories and characters I want to see more of don’t get produced which is why I’m so pumped for Tales of the Empire because we finally get a Barriss Offee story which has been left on read for the last decade and why I enjoyed Tales of the Jedi so much because we got more Dooku content and more good Ahsoka content.

Kenduli/Obinara (Luminara Unduli x Obi-Wan Kenobi) all day everyday and I will stan them until the day I die (sorry Satine fans no offense). Anyone who has read The Approaching Storm and paid attention to their interactions in Clone Wars could see these two have chemistry and are an absolute delight together. To me their relationship would have all the class of a pairing like Morticia and Gomez Addams from the Addams family with the sexiness of a James Bond and a Bond girl. Honestly what’s not to like? And no this is not an open invitation to bash them because this is MY unpopular opinion remember 😉 Read any of my fanfic and you’ll warm up to them I assure you!

Things I loved:

Thing stole the goddamn show, I was screaming when he got hurt

I loved all the teenagers, especially Eugene and Enid!!!

I really liked that the "popular kids" weren't just shallow misogynistic stereotypes. Bianca and Wednesday respected each other and ended up friends and I have a Lot of thoughts about them

The Addams were a weird but supportive family, Wednesday was a very typical teenager not wanting to be around her parents but I thought it said SO MUCH that she had the most loving/healthy family compared to her peers (excluding Eugene). Give me the Addams adopting her friends and Wednesday absolutely loathing it while her friends are lowkey terrified but loving it

Wednesday's wardrobe!! She looked like a gen z teenager and cultivated her own stype, but more than that, I love that she was mostly in baggy clothes. Her uniform wasn't fitted, it felt like an actual school uniform. Her skirt was almost ankle length. The fact that I'm happy they let a teenager dress as a teenager and not for the male gaze... the bar is on the goddamn floor

Things I didn't love:

Morticia and Gomez's characterisation were a bit off. Particularly Morticia. I saw a post saying that they would've reveled in a romantic, late-night murder on their first date and I have to say I agree. Gomez would be so heart-eyes at Morticia killing a dude for him

The love triangle with Wednesday.......... A bit of tension between Zavier or Tyler was fine, but it dragged on way too much and I got so sick of it

Enid/Ajex..... Our girl could've done so much better and I'm not just saying that as an Enid/Wednesday shipper

I am sad about how Tyler's story-line ended since it seems like he was manipulated and I question how much free-will he has as a Hyde. Plus the teacher was REAL creepy towards him. I would've liked to see some more depth here, more focus on Tyler being a victim of circumstance or something while still holding him accountable?? Not sure, but his ending felt unsatisfying

Oh man. I dont wanna sound like I'm tooting my own horn, but I genuinely find it hard to choose because I love my fics dearly. I enjoy writing so much, almost as much as I do drawing.

In no particular order, one of them is my Power Rangers 2017 fic Code Yellow. Idk if I've told her this(probably not cuz i dont much like to talk about my feelings) but the premise of Kimberly and the rest of the OG's being much older than the next rangers, with Kimberly serving as the next Yellow Ranger's mentor was inspired by my friendship with another PR fic writer(if you know unicorn affair then you know she's a legend). We became friends when I was like 17 and still relatively new to accepting my queerness, so getting to be friends with an older sapphic woman who was very kind, into the same things I was, and was in a loving relationship with another woman? It was very comforting and filled me with hope. Kimberly and Aisha's dynamic aren't the same as my dynamic with that person, but I can say that I projected a lot of my feelings over the warm comfort of having a friend that was like an older sister to Aisha.

I haven't made myself finish it yet, but I have hope I will even now years later. This is a snippet from my drafts

Another one is "Courtship Woes", the second part of a fic series for probably the craziest ship I've ever shipped, Wednesday Addams and Lydia Deetz from the musical version of Beetlejuice. It's a very different Wednesday from what a lot of you are probably used to in my Wenclair fics tho, as it's characterized as a mixture of Ms Ricci's version in the 90's movie and the animated version voiced by Chloe Grace Moretz. While I like to think of Jenna's Wednesday to be more like Morticia, I wrote this Wednesday to be a lot more like Gomez. So I guess I already have written a Gomezified Wednesday. Huh.

And, predictably, the other one is "raven in the den, wolf in the nest". I'm still really proud of what I've accomplished for this fic. The final chapter was especially very healing to write with Wednesday's confession affecting Enid's confrontation with Esther in the climax of the fic. The whole point of the Addams Family isn't the gothicness necessarily, but that they were supposed to be the topsy-turvy of what is conventional. It was one of the main points of that fic, with Morticia fainting over the thought of her wonderful spawn dating an adorable rainbow being the topsy-turvy version of the disapproving parent trope. That confession was supposed to go along with that theme too. In typical stories that involve monsters, the crux of that romance is the person's love of the other person despite them being a beast. But Wednesday isn't a typical girl. Loving a murderous beast would be what's expected of a grim girl like Wednesday, but the best thing about Wenclair is how they still keep the topsy-turvy theme for Addamses. Enid is insecure about not being the ferocious monster she's supposed to be, yet despite all odds Wednesday loves her regardless. She grew so dang attached to her even before Enid got the chance to shift and that's both so unexpected but makes so much sense of Wednesday Addams.

Fredrik Backman is my absolute favorite writer. The way he writes grief and loneliness alongside humor and love in his works is just phenomenal. It just saddens me that I do not understand a lick of Swedish and can only rely on the english translated copies, so I can't say that I fully know how he writes his prose as translations can only go so far. But I can say that the emotions he evokes in his writings is what I always try to strive for. To make my readers tear up as much as I could make them laugh. Or maybe more of the latter. Like a warm hug.

Arguably, there are few things that we would call an indisputable canon in the Addams Family:

- they are close, loving and very supportive family unit - Gomez and Morticia are madly in love - they love all things macabre - they are not afraid of violence, death, dying, fighting etc. (Yes, yes I'm still salty about that bullshit swordfighting scene in Netflix's Wednesday)

And of course, Christina Ricci pretty much established what is perceived as canon for the character of Wednesday Addams.

Other than that? There's not much set in stone. Continuity? Please, TAF wouldn't know continuity if it stepped on it, things are all over freaking ship, so it's very likely that, as a fan, you will love some iterations of Addams Family and hate others, that is completely normal, not all content is created for you. Let's accept that.

At this point, with the success of Netflix Wednesday this fandom reached its, arguably, largest audience. Whether you hate or love the new show, is irrelevant - it's success is indisputable, and it brought a lot of new fans, often completely new generation of fans who will interact with the Addams Family in a completely new and different way than you or me or Jerry next door.

Does it irk you that creators and more and more fans focus on Morticia solely as a mother figure? Yeah, it irks me too, no really, it annoys the hell out of me but at the same time... it's my freaking problem not anyone else's, the least of all the new fans, and allow me to explain why:

How we react to any given character is deeply, deeply personal. We come to the show with our own, unique set of experiences and those experiences will largely inform which characters we're going to relate to and what those character will mean to us. It can be and, very very often is, completely irrelevant to canon.

So say, each iteration of Mortcia is slightly or even vastly different from the other but some people will inevitably see her as a surrogate mother figure (or Gomez and Morticia as dream parents, whatever) and there can be a number of reasons for that, maybe some folks just didn't have great parents, maybe they had no parents, maybe... whatever - it doesn't matter, they are allowed to see that character as parent figures even if others don't.

Do I see Morticia as a mother figure? Nope. Never did, never will, although she's a fantastic mother. To me personally, she was always a representation of bad ass, empowered femininity - a strong female role model. I adored her since I was about 6 or 8 years old but she was never a mother figure to me. I love how she's happy and content in her role as a wife and a mother - that's her thing, she adores her family and that's where her focus is and she's absolutely unapologetic about it.  She's like a really awesome, badass housewife, she's telling you to do you, irregardless what the current trends for women in society are, but especially, at the time when women were told to have it all blah blah blah, and being a housewife was all but frowned upon -  Morticia's like no thank you, fuck that shit (except those odd times when she wants to seek out the dark forces and join their hellish crusade). And I always loved that, to me she exemplified the true meaning of feminism - the right to chose whatever the hell you want to do in life as a woman. Career woman? Go girl. Housewife? Awesome, if that's what makes you happy.

Where am I going with all this?

Bottom line, do you want to ship Wenclair - hon, ship them to your heart content if that's what brings you joy or helps you feel represented. Do you want to ship Gomez and Morticia ? - bless your little, tender heart, join the club! You want Morticia to be your surrogate mother - go ahead, enjoy! Do you want those characters to be the representation of your experience as a gay, trans, neurodivergent person? - baby, go for it. Especially if it helps you go through some really tough shit.

Yes, your personal fanon might disagree with mine, it might even piss me off - I might hate everything about it and secretely bitch about it to likeminded fandom members, and I do. I might hate your take on the Addams Family altogether - but remember! that's not your problem, it's mine. You do you, whoever you are.

So I have watched ep 5 and the long post is actually not going to be as long as I thought. Spoilers of course

A lot of what had been shown falls within my portrayal already even if with some key differences. He cares a lot about Charlie however for my writing whilst he does struggle significantly with wording absolutely everything (an example being that he cannot even order correctly sometimes) and a mix with his depression & trauma since being casted out of heaven. Does that make him immediately alright and forgive? No, absolutely not. Lucifer does really want to try and improve but also following the events of the episode would have a clear talk with Charlie to the best of his ability to explain more. The best that he can and expects to not be fully forgiven; he is aware of that.

My main issue and key focus now (since a lot outside stuff surrounding the wings was seemingly correct) is his relationship with Lilith. My bias is of course those two as I love the way they were originally described, Gomez and Morticia kind of vibe. I will be sticking to that view of their marriage and when they split it will be when Lilith just disappeared one day. Not a divorce in paperwork more the estranged situation that happens legally when someone is missing with no sign for a significant amount of time. If I end up shipping Luci with anyone else, it can be during that time so it works.

HELLO, IVE JUST FINISHED WATCHING WEDNESDAY

because i am the biggest dumbest nerd when it comes to the addams family: ive made a crappy list of why wednesday is everything i hoped for and more and why it is absolutely fucking perfect. spoilers.

im not entirely sure on how to start slow with this one so im getting right fucking into it. enjoy reading the disaster of my thoughts on this masterpiece:

AMAZING CASTING. jenna is incredible as wednesday, catherine and luiz are the perfect morticia and gomez, i adored seeing christina ricci KICKING ASS. gwendoline christie was amazing as weems, fred armisen as fester???? lost my shit he was so perfect. i don’t think there was a single cast member i wasn’t amazed with.

no genuinely i loved all of the nevermore students

fell in love w enid so fast omg i was rooting for her so hard her arc was so awesome (her and ajax are so cute too)

rip rowan you would’ve loved wenclair

THING!!!: its not the addams family without thing, and its especially not the addams family if thing isn’t being a little shit stirrer the whole time. perfect beautiful i love him A++ 

THE WEDNESDAY/PUGSLEY DYNAMIC WAS SO ON POINT they literally have the actual best sibling dynamic

i now know that you have not lived until you’ve seen wednesday addams stuck in a love triangle. she is not a character that you would expect to have a romantic interest but now in my mind she’s just beautifully a-spec and probably demiromantic. yes obviously i love xavier.

don’t get mad at me but i don’t ship her w enid that much?? at least not romantically but hey i would not complain if we had a polycule or qpr!!!

also it was genuinely so cute to see wednesday making friends like. why was i sobbing so much when she hugged enid. holy fuck.

THE DANCE SCENE. SHES AN ICON SHES A LEGEND AND SHE IS THE MOMENT

i am referring to both her actual dancing and ofc “they couldn’t even spring for real pigs blood. its only paint.” so real.

cant even stop myself from mentioning that jenna ortega looks very hot covered in blood which happens a lot in this series. like almost every episode. jesus fucking christ i am so in love with her.

i am a huge edgar allen poe nerd so i fucking adored every little reference to his works. also the idea that he was an outcast is so real to me.

speaking of outcasts: ngl definitely could’ve come up with a better name, “outcasts” just made it sound weirdly like some awkward teen high school drama but you get used to it

wednesday’s visions were so cool??? i loved the whole goody addams thing their interactions were really cool and god i just was not expecting that at all.

ok tbh it was really weird that her name was goody, since “goody” is the puritan equivalent of “mrs.” (its short for goodwife) so idk why they did that but ok i’m still here for it

honestly in general they do a really good job of keeping you guessing. i was suspicious about almost every single character throughout the whole series. 

in retrospect i should’ve known tyler was gonna be an asshole from the start cause. i mean. his name is tyler. no offense to my tylers, but be real when have you ever seen a tv show character named tyler that wasn’t a douche. i’ll wait.

i’ve typed tyler too many times and it no longer looks like a real name

episodes are nice and long but i obviously wish the series was longer, but it was super bingable and i’m probably gonna rewatch it 3 million times until the next season inevitably comes out.

not to be dorky but i loved how every episode title was a pun w the word “woe” 

i have really horrible media literacy in the sense that i overthink EVERYTHING so to me like almost everything in that was beautifully executed symbolism and maybe it was but when i say i lost my shit when i noticed wednesday stand on enid’s side of the room and fsr thats the only example i can think of rn BUT STILL

overall 5 stars 10/10 show i cant wait for more i love the plot i love the characters i love the cast i will be recommending it to everyone ik and more

The Wednesday series absolutely and utterly butchered the Addams.

Gomez and Morticia’s relationship was bland and their over excessive skin ship with zero chemistry turned them into the grossest scenes in the show.

Morticia would NEVER be “scared into stillness” bc of a fight 💀

Gomez would NEVER shy away from a fight or be a coward and I get it he was 17 at that time but in every Addam family adaptation it was hinted that Gomez has always been the way he was as an adult.

Also Gomez in the series is so bland its painful. He was never conventionally attractive but his charisma, his antics and dramatic behaviors made up for that plenty.

Morticia lacked that flare that every other Morticia before her had.

Pugslay is NOT a bulliable coward 😭 he may not be as intense as Wednesday but really? A cry baby?

And the one thing about the Addams that attracted most people (specifically me) is that even tho they were unconventional and low-key psychotic, they had the healthiest relationship ever so to make Morticia force her daughter into smth she doesn’t want and to have Wednesday hate her parents is just trash writing 🤷‍♀️

As a standalone it’s fun but those were not the Addams.
