Impact of social media on mental health and self esteem
Media, especially social media, has a profound impact on our mental health and self-esteem. Think of it like this: imagine you're comparing your life to someone else's highlight reel. That's what often happens on social media. People tend to share only the best parts of their lives, making it easy to feel like everyone else is living a perfect life except you. This constant comparison can lead to feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, and even depression.
Moreover, social media is designed to keep us hooked. Likes, comments, and shares give us a quick hit of validation, but when we don't get enough of them, it can make us feel unworthy or unimportant. Plus, spending too much time on social media can take away from real-life connections and activities, which are essential for our mental well-being.
On top of that, the portrayal of unrealistic beauty standards and lifestyles on social media can distort our perception of reality. We start to believe that we need to look a certain way or have certain things to be happy or successful, which can harm our self-esteem.
It's essential to remember that what we see on social media isn't always the full story. It's curated and often exaggerated. Taking breaks from social media, being mindful of our usage, and focusing on real-life connections can help mitigate some of these negative effects on our mental health and self-esteem.
You are your own priority

Five more things down. Packing for my trip to NYC made me realize there was so many things I had for cold weather that I haven’t touched in years. It felt freeing to decide to let them go. Progress is being made!!

you've heard of "quiet quitting," now I'd like to introduce you to the next level, The French Work Ethic:
Do exactly what you're paid for and nothing more
Absolutely refuse to be available to contact when you're off the clock
Never prioritize work over your own health, wellbeing, or family because that would be insane, it's just a job.
Have a little glass of wine
Take as long as you feel like for lunch
Deeply understand that work doesn't matter
Make sure your boss knows they're always your second priority ❤️

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)
At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.
Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

if you're about to get top surgery, you may hear a voice in your head telling you to make a joke about getting something off your chest even though it's overplayed. im here to let you know it's your imperative and sacred duty to not only make the joke but to tell it to every person you talk to. and that you are right it would be funny as fuck. this is not sarcastic if you tell enough people one of them will have never heard it before and also it's still funny to every person who has heard it listen to me this is a once in a life time opportunity— [i start getting dragged out by the palace guards] commit to the bit!!! if you don't you'll forever wish you had!! heed my warning or forever suffer the cons— [castle door slams shut behind us]

THE SHEPHERD AND HIS FLOCK
The 23rd Psalm is a powerful declaration of trust and dependence on God. Today, we’ll look at how the first few words reveal a core belief that to accept God as our shepherd, we acknowledge that He is the One who provides for our every need. He is the ultimate source of comfort, guidance, and protection.  Just as a shepherd cares for his flock, tending to their every need and leading them to…
