Well, all I can say is this man is almost perfect for me. Why not perfect? First, his choice in shoe wear. Not that their bad, just looks like he had them for years. Come on Jeff, your a US congressman. Time for some new shoes. That being said, I can over look the shoes. Second and most important, he’s not naked and in my bed with my jizz all over him. What? Then he’d be perfect.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Duncan graduated from Clemson University with a BA in political science in 1988 and was a member of the school's football team. After graduation, Duncan served as branch manager and an assistant vice president during his seven years working in community banking. Later, he started and ran his own small business, J. Duncan & Associates, a South Carolina-based, family-owned real estate marketing firm until his election to Congress in 2010.

Lets see, he’s married… Wait… his wife Melody, with who he shares three sons with, recently filed to divorce Jeffy, alleging he carried out multiple affairs during his 34-year marriage. Including one with a lobbyist that Melody believes Duncan is currently living with in Washington D.C.. SCANDALOUS. So this is the reason he's retiring.
Well… if he was sleeping with me, he maybe able to salvage his political career. Hey, the "I recently found out I was gay" defense can work. lol

Missing: Sherry Lynn Marler
At around 6:40PM on June 6, 1984, twelve year old Sherry Marler went with her stepfather Raymond to a bank in Greenville, Alabama. While there, he gave her a dollar to go to a gas station across the street and get a soda. She left the bank, went to the gas station, and was never seen again. When Raymond went to the station fifteen minutes later, she was not there and she was reported missing.
Since she vanished, there were three different sightings of Sherry; each time, she was seen with an unidentified man. One witness saw her at a truck stop in Georgia, while another saw her at a mall in New Orleans. Each time, she appeared upset, dishevelled, and dazed. Her family believes that she was abducted, but her case remains unsolved. The man that was seen with Sherry after she vanished was described as fifty years old, 5'8" tall with a husky build. He had a weathered complexion, and crow's feet around his eyes. At the first sighting, Sherry called the man "B.J." He has never been identified.

50 YEARS OF INTEGRATION
by Guido van Helten
After the Supreme Court demanded school integration in 1954, "with all deliberate speed" was interpreted by many states to mean as slowly as possible. A decade later only 49 Black students in Greenville, South Carolina, were attending 15 white schools, and Pearlie Harris was the first of only two Black teachers. Finally in February, 1970, 12,000 students and 500 teachers were reassigned as Greenville reluctantly accepted the integration mandate. 50 years later Australian artist Guido van Helten memorialized the anniversary, and the more than 30 year career of Pearlie Harris, with this massive composition on the side of a former bank building turned into loft apartments. Van Helten's painting covers almost 19,000 square feet and took 704 hours spanning five weeks.

Chances rise to 50-50 for tropical development off Southeast coast as region prepares for heavy rainfall
As remnants of Hurricane Francine bring heavy rain to parts of the Deep South, the Carolina coast faces the potential for more downpours, with a coastal low possibly developing into a tropical system over the weekend or early next week.
Following Hurricane Francine, which is dissipating over the Tennessee Valley, the FOX Forecast Center is keeping an eye on an old frontal boundary off the Southeast coast. This area could become the season's next tropical disturbance. The National Hurricane Center has assigned a medium chance of development over the next week. Regardless of whether a tropical cyclone forms, the Carolinas can expect rainy and occasionally blustery conditions throughout the weekend and into the first half of the workweek.
Climate and Average Weather Year Round in 29609 - Greenville SC:

"A front extending from the remnants of Hurricane Francine in the Midsouth through North Florida and into the Atlantic will serve as the catalyst for a low-pressure system to form offshore near the Georgia coast," explains FOX Weather Hurricane Expert Bryan Norcross. "Northeast and east winds will collide with tropical moisture from the south in the development zone, promoting atmospheric spin." While environmental conditions aren't ideal for rapid development, some gradual organization is possible as the disturbance moves north and west, approaching the coastline.
Weather Forecast For 77059-Houston-TX:
https://www.behance.net/gallery/201998533/Weather-Forecast-For-77059-Houston-TX
"If winds reach 40 mph within the circulation, as several computer models suggest, the system will be named Helene," said Bryan Norcross.
"Warm waters will fuel the system," added FOX Weather Meteorologist Kendall Smith. "We could easily see a tropical or subtropical depression by early next week. But don't get caught up in the terminology—the impacts will remain the same."
Forecast models predict widespread rainfall of 2-5 inches, with locally higher amounts possible, particularly east of Interstate 95. Coastal areas like Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, as well as Wilmington and Morehead City in North Carolina, are in the main impact zone.
NOAA's Weather Prediction Center has identified the Carolina coast as a potential flooding area on Monday, while more moderate rainfall is expected in inland cities like Raleigh, Charlotte, and Richmond, Virginia.
"Residents along the Carolina coast should prepare for an extended period of gusty winds and unpleasant weather, with conditions expected to peak on Monday," said Bryan Norcross. "At this time, there's no indication the system will develop into a hurricane, though we've seen similar situations intensify near the coast in the past."
youtube
Rough seas will bring the risk of rip currents and beach erosion The increased ocean activity will lead to rough surf, a heightened risk of rip currents, and the potential for additional coastal erosion. The coastline around the Outer Banks and southeastern Virginia is particularly vulnerable to rough seas, as demonstrated by swells from Hurricane Ernesto, which was over 1,000 miles away.
Waves generated by the former Category 2 hurricane caused flooding along North Carolina Highway 12, the primary route through the islands. At least one abandoned home fell into the ocean as a result.
Following this collapse, parts of Cape Hatteras National Seashore have been closed to swimmers due to concerns about debris in the water.
While authorities have not indicated that the surf will surpass the swells caused by Hurricane Ernesto or lead to further property damage, the local National Weather Service office in Morehead City, North Carolina, has issued various advisories for beachgoers and boaters, cautioning about the rough conditions.

Local TikTok creators eye ban with dread
Tumblr media
SOCIAL MEDIA
Community, livelihood at stake for influencers
In early 2020, Victoria Jameson was selling clothes from her closet to cover bills.
The professional makeup artist saw her jobs vanish overnight during the pandemic, and her bank account dipped under $100.
Jameson, who had been trying to break into social media influencing, doubled down on TikTok, where she posted hair and makeup tutorials and random snippets of her life.
Her videos found an audience. Jameson, who lives in Dallas’ Lower Greenville area, gained tens of thousands of followers over the next year, eventually scoring partnerships with QuikTrip, L’Oréal and, most recently, Samsung.
“TikTok truly changed my life,” Jameson, 31, said. “It was the first time I felt like I could be myself on a platform without having to curate a perfect-looking life with a full face of makeup or clean house.”
As TikTok faces an uncertain fate in the U.S., Jameson and dozens of other Dallas-area content creators are pushing back against the looming ban while contemplating a future without a key piece of their business and livelihood.
Citing security threats, President Joe Biden signed a bipartisan bill last month to force Chinese company ByteDance to sell TikTok.
If not, the social media app will be banned.
TikTok has already said it will fight the law.
Roughly 30 states, including Texas, have already banned the app from government-issued devices.
Despite those concerns, TikTok has soared in popularity since its debut in 2016.
An estimated 170 million Americans, nearly half the U.S. population, use the app.
TikTok has also proved lucrative for content creators, who leverage the video-sharing app to extend their reach and secure paid deals with brands and perks such as free travel.
Marketing agencies have hired some as consultants.
‘Our voices don ’t matter ’
Jameson, who has 970,000 followers on TikTok, said the platform has allowed her to go from making barely $30,000 a year to a “comfortable, six-figure salary.”
She even landed a spot on The Bachelor in 2023.
Lately, she has also posted videos imploring her followers to contact their representatives to voice opposition to the ban.
She accused elected leaders of fear mongering and trying to legislate something they do not understand.
“If TikTok goes away, so will a large chunk of my income,” she said.
“Creators are frustrated, scared and upset that our voices don’t matter to legislators.”
Amy Jovel, 37, moved from New York City to Dallas in early 2022 and knew almost no one.
As she explored Dallas, she posted TikTok videos about fashion, shopping and restaurants, soon gaining 20,000 followers and a group of close friends, who are fellow content creators.
While Jovel looks for a job in the hospitality industry, TikTok has supplied a substantial portion of her income and helped build partnerships with several brands, including Dove and Fossil.
Jovel said she has watched news of the ban with growing apprehension.
“This is about business, but it’s bigger than that,” said Jovel, who recently moved to Carrollton. “
Tumblr media
Lawmakers from both parties have expressed concerns that Chinese authorities could force ByteDance to hand over U.S. user data or influence Americans by suppressing or promoting certain content on TikTok.
For example, they worry the platform could try to sway elections.
Both TikTok and opponents of the law have argued there is no proof of such claims and that a ban violates freedom of speech.
Tumblr media
“Rest assured, we aren’t going anywhere,” TikTok CEO Shou Chew said last month in a video response on X.
“The facts and the Constitution are on our side, and we expect to prevail again.”
Waiting it out
Tumblr media
Michelle Tran, a 26-year-old content creator who posts videos about fashion, Dallas and hair and makeup, joined the app as a cash-strapped graduate student in Houston who found she could highlight local restaurants while earning free meals.
Tran returned to her native Dallas in summer 2023 with plans to apply for medical school, but for now TikTok is providing a steady source of income.
If the U.S. government wants to tackle cybersecurity, Tran said, it should pass laws addressing personal data beyond one social media company.
“Facebook has our data. Businesses have our data,” said Tran, who has 30,000 followers. “Our information is in the hands of other people. Why specifically target TikTok?”
Some content creators are unconcerned by the TikTok ban.
Aquia Francisco, 35, posts videos about Dallas shops and restaurants and travel on her social media platforms and for The Nudge, a service that sends members ideas for activities in their city, for which Francisco serves as the Dallas director. She has more than 38,000 followers on TikTok.
Francisco, who estimates she receives about 10% of her income through TikTok, encouraged fellow influencers to diversify their social media network and develop a website to serve as a landing page for content. She said she thinks the issue will be resolved before the platform is banned.
“I am definitely not in a panic,” she said. “Like a lot of people, I’m waiting to see how this plays out. I can’t really see TikTok disappearing.”

The Vanishing of Sherry Lynn Marler
On the surface, Sherry Lynn Marler lived a typical life for a 12-year-old girl living in small-town America in the 1980s. She was a tomboy who loved farming and spending time with friends. But all of that changes on June 6, 1984, when Sherry disappeared from her small town of Greenville, Alabama.
That June day started like any other for Sherry. She woke up just after 9 a.m. and realized her stepfather, Raymond Stringfellow, was leaving to go to the bank, and she decided to tag along. When they got to the bank, Sherry told Raymond she was thirsty, so he gave her a dollar to go to the gas station across the street to get herself a drink while he was in the bank doing business. Witnesses later said they saw Sherry walk across several parking lots on the way to the gas station. That was the last confirmed sighting of the young girl.
A short time later, Raymond walked out expecting to find Sherry waiting for him, but she was nowhere to be found. He let some time pass as he searched nearby but eventually called Sherry’s mother, Betty Stringfellow, while she was working at the nearby Waffle House to see if Sherry had stopped by. But Betty hadn't seen her daughter. Panic then started to set in.
Raymond and Betty contacted the police just before noon to report her missing. A vast search immediately started, including volunteers, friends, and family. They also hung missing person posters all over the county, but Sherry didn't turn up. Police started to consider three options: Sherry had run away, a stranger took her, or she was taken by someone she knew.
Betty, Sherry's mother, said she doesn't believe her husband had anything to do with Sherry's disappearance. He died of cancer in 2013 without ever getting answers to what happened to his stepdaughter. She said he never got over the fact that Sherry was with him when she disappeared and that he always carried that pain with him. Sherry would be 50 years old today.
The Facebook Page "Sherry Lynn Marler Still Missing" was created in 2012 by Ryan Anderson to keep Sherry’s case alive and give people a place to share theories or ideas of what could have happened to her.
The group has thousands of members that weigh in on photos and other information. One post from the group's creator reads, "Based on the incredible mass of truly disturbing information we’ve received over the years from so many sources who are extremely credible but unwilling to publicly expose themselves.....We believe Sherry Marler was murdered and dismembered by someone she knew very well (not her stepfather) and thrown into a hog pen in Butler County. We believe the person who murdered her is deceased."
These people believe Sherry was the victim of incest pedophilia and was pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
Her case remains unsolved.

2024-04-06: Bootleggers (Faction)
Although Prohibition for most of the nation lasted from 1920 to 1933, Mississippi's version came much earlier and ended many years after the repeal of the national Prohibition. The state of Tennesse (just north of the Delta) likewise continued its policy of prohibition for several years after the national repeal. Thus, a robust bootlegging network was born across the river in Arkansas.
Despite Mississippi's vocal insistence on abstinence from alcohol, many parts of the Delta paid little mind to prohibition. In a bizarre twist, liquor stores advocated alongside religious leaders for prohibition on alcohol, though the liquor stores were doing it avoid having to pay taxes on their wares. Farm owners in the Delta were especially resistant to prohibition, as alcohol helped keep the workers happy.
Moonshine was typically distilled in makeshift stills on the western banks of the Mississippi River that weren't covered by levees in Arkansas. These were protected by a series of gun-toting bootleggers who would kill anyone unfamiliar on sight, though national prohibition eventually succeeded in driving out many of the land-based distillers.
Enterprising individuals instead began to outfit houseboats with stills to make booze on the move. Or they coordinated with organized crime groups up north (often out of Chicago) to arrange for boats loaded with spirits to find their way downriver to the Delta. There are even tales of some whiskey boats that have supernatural assistance on their side to either evade detection or just travel faster than the law.
Almost all the bootleg alcohol enters the state from the river. In the Delta, there are two main ports: Greenville and Rosedale. Greenville's still rebuilding its ports after the massive flooding caused by the levee break in 1927. That leads Rosedale as the primary point of entry for river-based bootlegging. The main problem for the bootleggers in Rosedale is a temperance-minded woman named Florence W. Sillers. Even though boats carrying alcohol can stay on the Arkansas side of the river where alcohol is legal, Florence has friends in high places who keep watch for suspected transportation of alcohol.
If Florence and her lackeys can be avoided long enough to unload a boat, the bootleggers whisk the cargo into automobiles and trucks for transport to the rest of the state.
-----------
A surprising amount of this post comes directly from Florence W. Sillers' own account of the time period as published in History of Bolivar County, Mississippi. I found an excerpt of it online, but you might have some problems downloading the file since it's not hosted on a website protected by HTTPS.
