Western Front
Extremely young-smelling, a churlish baby-fruit-basket of hi-spice airing out to youthful earth with smudges of sulphite and bottling angst. A blue rim frames distinct purple medium-body where dirty raspberry and pointed rhubarb lives with smoky aplomb. Cool-climate of nose: mountainous and stony, distict worn leather a distillation of fruit, tapenade and all things considered. This would be a…

if anyone is interested, I just spent far too much time researching the two releases of AA wines because I wanted to know what varietal of red Edgeworth was... I unfortunately have not been able to find anything other than pictures of the 10th anniversary wines released in 2011 (and if anyone knows anything about them I would LOVE to hear)
but as for the 15th anniversary wines from 2016, it looks like Phoenix's bottle is honjozo sake:
The sake (honjozo) is inspired by Naruhodo and has a refreshing taste and a deep and rich taste. The red wine is inspired by a sword, with a sharp, crisp mouthfeel and a velvety, luxurious flavor.
Edgeworth's bottle, on the other hand, is a red blend consisting of 50% syrah, 45% grenache, 5% cinsaut:
A fragrant red wine full of delicious fruit flavors, with a cool taste and a pleasantly mellow mouthfeel.

I want your opinion on the cod boys, what's everyone's favorite drinks? Who's snobby about it and who will drink literally anything as long as it gets them drunk. Which one is a wine snob and which one drinks straight vodka ??
i love this so much, op!!
Ghost: drinks Bourbon, likes it neat (room temp, and nothing else) in a glass. would probably drink Lucky Seven Spirits "The Jokester" 6 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey or Wild Turkey 81 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. might enjoy a pint of Guinness. doesn't really drink much else. dislikes tequila.
Price: scotch, likes it neat with a little bit of water on the second sip, and a pint. would probably drink Johnnie Walker's Red Label (occasionally splurges during the holidays and buys himself the coveted and rare Blue Label; the ones in his possession are prized. if he ever offers you a glass of this, know you're special to him) or Ballantine's Finest Blended Scotch Whisky. His favourite pint would either be Peroni or San Miguel. a bit of a snob in the sense that he won't drink anything else. hates vodka. don't even ask him to drink any.
Soap: whisky, scotch, and pints. He isn't too picky and will drink whatever he feels like when he's out. would probably drink the Famous Grouse, or Crown Royal Canadian Whisky (even though his Scottish friends rib him for being a traitor). he would drink what is on tap if they didn't have scotch ale. dislikes gin.
Gaz: wants to like beer, but he just doesn't. prefers mixed drinks, especially vodka. likes sherry, too. a little bit of a sherry snob and despite what he says, only goes to this one tapas in Spain for the sole fact they serve the best sherry. will drink whatever gets him drunk, but is learning on how to refine his palate under Price's tutelage. and the fact that the man is never too far away from glass of scotch. enjoys Gonzalez Byass Apóstoles Sherry 30 Years or Don Benigno Cream Sherry. for mixed drinks enjoys vodka cranberry, Pimm's, Sherry negroni. his most coveted drink is NV Fernando de Castilla Singular Oloroso Sherry.
Alejandro: a snob when it comes to tequila. he only drinks extra añejo. he drinks a glass with his dinner and does it the proper way: small sips, neat. he always has a bottle of Siete Leguas D’Antaño extra añejo and Maestro Tequilero tequila añejo classico on hand. drinks Mexican wine as well. MD Vinos – Cabernet Sauvignon (red) and La Cetto – Sierra Blanc Sauvignon Blanc (white). his most coveted drinks are Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo and Don Julio Ultima Reserva.
Rodolfo: he doesn't drink it straight too often, and prefers cervezas or mixed drinks. enjoys Michelada, wine, beer, and tequila. would drink Monte Xanic – Grenache Rosé Wine, Indio or Bohemia (beer), Jose Cuervo Reposado (tequila), and Cantaritos made with Milagro Silver. enjoys the holidays the most when he can buy Noche Buena.

okay i need wine recs now 🙏
What kind of wine do you like? Do you like reds? whites? rosés? sweet or more dry?
My preference is dry, crisp rosés and reds that are more full-bodied and balanced (so medium tannins, and mediumly dry). My two absolute favorite red varietals are Malbecs and Tempranillos (popular in Spain and can be hard to find in the US unless you're in like a specialty wine shop. they seem to also be more popular/common in southern california probably because the climate is closer to the climate of spain). I think these are both excellent varietals for anyone just trying things out and testing their palate because they're usually very well-balanced so you won't get the overwhelming tannins of a cab (which are SO SO popular here in northern california) or the...frankly boringness of a pinot noir (i'm sorry pinot noir lovers....i've drunk like 3 pinot noirs in my life that I can actually say i enjoyed...they're just so flat to me...) Zinfandels are very VERY hit or miss for me and I don't really like most Merlots. The wine club I subscribe to does a lot of varietals that are harder to find on grocery story shelves like Cab Franc, Petit Sirah, Garnache/Grenache, Petit Verdot, a lot of which you'll find in red blends but rarely find a single varietal wines.
If you have Trader Joe's where you live I actually think their wine selection is not bad for a mid-tier grocery store and recommend the Kono sauvignon blanc if you want a cheap, light, refreshing white wine with tropical vibes. It's a go-to for a warm evening. They also have some pretty good rosés from what i remember but it's been a while since i bought any from them because i now live like 2 blocks from a wine shop.
when in doubt though just do what i do and pick whatever wine has the prettiest label

Vina Vina
So who wants a Rioja that drinks like yGay, Faustino and Tondonia–WAY above standard Murrietta or Riscal or Campo Viejo–for half the price? Me does. Blisteringly young–only a year of bottle-age beyond the standard 18 mos–but showing the fruit and tight polish of a sublime, indefinitely-ageable Reserva. Nice medium ruby in the glass, with vague hints of amber at the rim. Nose of deep dark cherry,…

What are your go to wine choices
red!! ideally french but italian n spanish are also good. big fan of merlot, but have been known to enjoy a grenache on occasion. have gotten into italian lambrusco recently, like the sparkling reds!! i also tend to like kind of funky natural wines that are unfiltered and weird but those r usually just "red blends." half the time i buy wine bc i think the label looks cool. i prefer dry wines over sweet wines but i'm not super picky honestly, and don't consider myself an expert by any means!!

Trying a wine from a grape I never had before - Grenache. From reading Wikipedia I assume we don't really have the climate for it in NZ so that's why, but also it's commonly blended with other grapes.
It's a four year old wine from Australia and at the slightly more expensive end of supermarket supplied wines, but I'm not a huge fan. Like it's fine, and once again Wikipedia seems to indicate it's actually a fairly tricky grape to use so good job them, but I'm not going to add it to my favourites.
I actually have very little interest in wines, so my favourites are Syrah/Shiraz, a Semillon I tasted once nearly 20 years ago, wines with cool labels, and wines I think are funny.

Valeu a pena! VN89pts .
