So, after this post, I couldn't let go of this house. I decided to rebuild it in The Sims and then I had so much info I felt the need to share it. Other than commenting on some crazy aspects of this mansion, I think it can give some input/ideas for possible scenarios in fanfiction! (for one, I'd like to know what Eddie thinks about half of the features of this house lmao). My process was: canon information > actual house information > gaps I filled the best I could Disclaimer: keep on describing Steve's house however you want to!! I'm sharing this in case you wanna be as close to the actual house as possible!

How early does Tommy start taking bets.

Is the dress code themed every year or is it just black tie?

Tommy has a buddy who usually makes all his themed Best Picture charcuterie boards and he is MIFFED that this year Tommy's stupid buff boyfriend has been fine tuning full ass meals for a month: Tommy this is just a plain ass meat and cheese board you are insulting me and My Vision.

Buck makes all his picks based on Vibe (he fell asleep during at least three of the movies Tommy showed him) and somehow wins the pot. Literally every pick is right even the Upsets. Only Tommy knows his bf made most of his decisions based on the movie poster or the actors IMDb page.

After everyone has left and Buck is picking at grapes while they pack away leftovers, Tommy grabs Buck's hand and twirls him into his arms and when Buck laughs and laughs and laughs Tommy admits he's been chomping at the bit for a dance since they didn't get to dance at his sister's wedding and this suit (Buck pulled out the red velvet smoking jacket) has been driving him WILD all day.

Tommy's been running a movie club called The Talkies for the last eight years that is made up of various coworkers past and present, three former Army buddies, and Janusz Kaminsky (as a favor to a friend, Tommy flew Kaminsky around Berlin for a few days of shooting establishing shots for Bridge of Spies, and they were good friends by the end of it).

There are two rounds of betting: a practice one in October for the year's movies up to that point then the real one in December after all the Oscarbation films are released. There's a $50 buy-in and each person can do two brackets. The first year Buck wins it, everyone chalks it up to beginner's luck. The second year, they grumble but congratulate him (after everyone grudgingly acknowledges there's no way in hell he could possibly cheat). The third year, they eye him nervously. The fourth year, Sal corners him by the bathroom and demands to know what the winning numbers are for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing.

The first time Buck attends, he gets into a conversation with Kaminsky and asks a million questions about cinematography, which Kaminsky is more than happy to answer, but then it comes out the only films of Kaminsky's that Buck has seen are The Lost World and Cool As Ice, and then Tommy has to stop a two-time Academy Award winner from strangling his boyfriend to death.

i know it’s not that deep and doesn’t matter at the end of the day, but i find it so interesting that so many ppl just assume the green bedroom is phil’s room when he and dan have said nothing of the sort! not only that, i feel like it comes across that it’s considered a space that both dan and phil have ownership over (rather that a space that is phil’s personally). like the japan paintings from phil’s dad—phil said “my dad painted US some bamboo.” if the painting was for d&p both, why would they hang it up in a space that’s solely phil’s… but if it’s a guest room that is equally “theirs” (in the sense that it’s in their house and it doesn’t belong to only one of them), it would make sense to put something gifted to the both of them in there. and it’s the same thing with the green towels. sure dan was exasperated over phil dyeing his clothes green, but he seemed more annoyed at the bath towels. if they were phil’s bath towels literally why would dan gaf 😭 but if it’s the guest ensuite it makes sense dan would be actually annoyed—on top of that he says before they were dyed the bathroom “looked like a hotel,” a comment that makes a lot of sense to make abt a guest bathroom. like u could also make it about someone’s personal bathroom but again why would it be dan’s business 😭😭

idk i just find it interesting the assumptions people make. like yes for years there was “dan’s bedroom” and “phil’s bedroom” but we haven’t gotten those descriptors since they’ve moved into the phouse, and on top of that we know “phil’s bedroom” from 2017-2021 was a literal SET because they admitted it! like it’s just kinda silly that the only people perpetuating the two bedrooms thing is phannies. d&p themselves haven’t done that in years 😭

(disclaimer: i do know that sometimes couples have two bedrooms and sleep separately and if that’s the case with d&p, more power to them! obvs they can do what they want and it’s none of my business 🙏🏻 im more just making observations about how sometimes the phandom bends over backwards in order to like ~not make assumptions~ or whatever, when in reality they are actually making up MORE stuff rather than just going with the obvious choice yk? that's all)

This morning I woke up with a word in my head; it seemed from the dream to be super important. I don't remember why now, only that it was me saying the word to another self. It was vital enough that when I woke up I wrote it down somewhere I'd see it later. The word, which doesn't actually exist, is "enthecophaeus".

Now, it's not a real word, but I did study classics in school and I have enough Greek to recognize it when I dream it, so I broke it down into its likely components: en, theco, and phaeus.

En, I believe, means in or at, and indicates a fixity of place. Theco I was less solid on but the internet says it's a latinized version of a word meaning a case or sheath. Phaeus I was actually familiar with, it indicates darkness, although I think it's mostly to do with pigmentation of orchids and butterflies.

Still, taken in whole it means either a dark container, darkness contained, or my personal favorite, sheathed in darkness.

So enjoy that cryptic prophecy. May Apollo's red dodgeball make all things clear in time.
