Papa Blackstone featuring baby Winter ❄️🩵
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Sebastian Sallow: “He’s very knowledgeable. Despite lacking magical abilities, his deep understanding of our world puts us wizards to shame.”
Ominis Gaunt: “Ah, I think I see where your quest for knowledge came from, Winter.”
Winter Blackstone: “Well, back then when I still considered myself a squib like my father, all of my magical knowledge came from him.”
(Excerpt from “Sweet-scented Recollections Pt. 1”, a 3-part audio fanfic on my TikTok!)
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Name: William Jude Blackstone
Blood status: Squib
Marrital Status: Widowed
Spouse: Jane Frostine Blackstone (née Baudelaire) †
Occupation: Undertaker (Mortician)
William Blackstone was born as a squib, but despite lacking magical abilities he’s always fond of the wizarding world. Every chance he gets, he picks up any wizarding book he can gets his hands on, some from his family’s library or his sister’s school books, and others he obtained himself. This hobby follows him well into his adulthood. He held out hope that his daughter Winter won’t turn out like him, considering his wife is an excellent and talented witch. He had his suspicions about Winter because she doesn’t show signs of magical abilities in the age where she’s supposed to. Both him Winter were heartbroken when she didn’t get her Hogwarts letter at the age of 11, solidifying his suspicions that she’s also a squib, and he blamed himself for it.
A few months after, he took his daughter to the Guisachan in Glen Affric, Invernshire, home of the Marjoribanks, whom William was loosely acquainted with. (Disclaimer: this relationship is totally fictional) He wanted to get a dog to cheer Winter, as she was still saddened by the fact that she doesn’t have magic. She then picked a male puppy who has coats of fur unusually lighter than its siblings, took him home and named him Snowball.
When Winter turned 15, both of them were very surprised to receive an enrollment letter from Hogwarts, accompanied with the arrival of Professor Fig. As this is a very unusual phenomenon that he is very intrigued by, he kept in touch with Winter via Owl as she embarked on her magical education while he try to research if anything like this has ever happened before. Later he turned his research course into the mysterious ancient magic as soon as Winter sent him an Owl about her puzzling, newly-found abilities.
Headcannon: Winter urged Sebastian to stay in her home during the 5th year summer holidays as she can see that he feels conflicted about returning to Feldcroft and tagging along with Ominis to the Gaunts’ Manor doesn’t seem like a good option. He was about to stay in Hogsmeade and get a summer job but in the end he accepted her offer and spent the rest of his summer holidays in the Blackstone’s estate, where he got acquainted to William Blackstone.

Hundreds of golden retrievers gather in Scotland for anniversary of breed’s founding
SCOTLAND - Hundreds of golden retrievers gathered in Scotland Thursday to mark the 155th anniversary of the breed’s founding.
According to the Golden Retriever Club of Scotland, which organized the celebration, the event was held at the Guisachan Estate of Lord Tweedmouth in the Highlands – where the dog breed was first bred.
Footage, captured by Darren Stocker, shows hundreds of dogs and their owners congregating in a grassy area on the estate as people take photographs.
Owners from across the United Kingdom, continental Europe, North America, Australia and Japan have been meeting at the ruins of Guisachan House, according to the BBC. The event was expected to be one of the world's largest gatherings of the breed in one place.
Tumblr media
Carol Henry, secretary of the club, told the news outlet that the aim of the gathering was to keep alive knowledge of the breed.
"We want to hold on to the confidence, the biddability, the companionship and loyalty – all the things the golden retriever was built on," Henry shared.

Golden Retriever Puppy, Food, Dog Care, And Special Info
The Golden Retriever is a Scottish breed of medium-sized retriever dog. It is characterized by a gentle and loving nature and an attractive golden coat. It is commonly kept as a pet and is one of the most frequently registered breeds in some western countries.
He is a frequent competitor in dog shows and obedience trials; They are also used as gundogs and can be trained for use as guide dogs.
The breed was created by Sir Dudley Marjorybanks at his Scottish estate Guissachan in the late nineteenth century. He cross-bred Flat-Coated Retrievers with Tweed Water Spaniels, along with some further infusions of Red Setters, Labrador Retrievers, and Bloodhounds.
The breed was recognized by the Kennel Club in 1913 and spread to many parts of the world during the war period.

History Of Golden Retriever
The Golden is one of the breeds created during the dog-loving Victorian era. Breeds in his background probably include the yellow retriever, the tweed water spaniel, wavy- and flag-coated retrievers, and the red setter.
Dudley Marjoriebex, Lord Widemouth, is generally credited with producing the first known Golden Retrievers, but reviews of recent reports in study books, old filmland, and other sources say that Goldens similar to the Shan, conceivably a type of Setter, survived.
Before Lord Tweedmouth began breeding at his Scottish estate, Guisachan. The Kennel Club of England classified the dog as “Retriever – Yellow or Golden” in 1911, then changed the name to “Retriever – Golden” in 1920.
Golden retrievers were first registered with the American Kennel Club in 1925 and officially recognized as a breed in 1932. Since then they have established themselves as versatile companions, hunting dogs, and working dogs.
Goldens are found in search and rescue, animal-assisted therapy, fire detection, drug discovery, and assistance work for people with disabilities. Their energy, enthusiasm, and intelligence make them suitable for learning and doing almost any task.
Tumblr media
Appearance
The Golden Retriever is a forcefully erected, medium-sized canine strain; According to the Kennel Club strain standard, tykes stand 56 to 61 centimeters( 22 to 24 elevation) and tykes 51 to 56 centimeters( 20 to 22 elevation). Healthy adult samples generally weigh between 25 and 34 kilograms( 55 and 75 lb).
The Golden Retriever has a broad head with a well-defined stop, well-separated black eyes, a large and important nib, a large black nose, a dark-pigmented and slightly drooping nib, and medium-sized cognizance that are high and hanging. Count a little. The neck is muscular and fairly long with loose- befitting skin, the shoulders are well-set and long-bladed, and the body is deep to the casket with well-sprung caricatures.
The reverse is generally withered to squinched and the long, straight tail is generally flat, nearly in line with the reverse. The frontal legs are straight with good bone, the hind legs are important with well-turned hocks and muscular shanks, and the legs are cat- suchlike.

Lord Tweedmouth was the champion of the Golden Retriever, and he bred these dogs with the usual British thoroughness and care to establish a basic type and performance. His Guisachan estate on the Tweed River in southeast Scotland produced the first true Goldens. To achieve this triumph, his lordship crossed in a local Spaniel type, the Tweed Water Spaniel (very important to the end result), and an experimental cross or two of the Bloodhound and the Irish Setter.
At the present time the Golden Retriever occupies a high place of prominence with American dog lovers. He is a cherished pet and companion. He has the virtues of gentleness, trainability, loyalty and handsomeness. In the field, he is one of the finest performers. His thick undercoat laughs at the foulest weather. He is a most hardy breed and doesn’t give up a retrieve even under very trying conditions. He has a soft mouth and has been used with great success on upland birds as well as on all types of waterfowl.

Heritage, history and histrionics.....
The heritage and history of our house is proving quite elusive. We've been trying to do our research for various reasons. To learn more about where we live, the people who lived here before us, how and why it was built, how it looked then compared to now etc. Talking to our lovely neighbours who are born and bred here has given us a great insight already, their stories are wonderful and I'm sure they have many more to share over time. We knew our little conservation village of Tomich was built by the local estate owner, Lord Tweedmouth, supposedly for his retired estate workers who had previously lived not too far away on the other side of the river in 'crofts'. What we hadn't realised until recently was how unhappy they were at being forced to leave their old homes. Crofting is a way of life and one they obviously treasured. Reference was made to them in some local history books we've been reading .... "Although the houses that were provided for them in the village were tidy, slate roofed stone dwellings with wooden floors, they seemed to prefer their old tumbledown ruins which they would visit every year. They must have longed for their previous way of life because the procession of the old people to their former homes was a very sad one." What a sad image it paints..... We managed to track down the architects who designed not only the stunning 'Guisachan' house of Lord Tweedmouth but also the village. We found out that there was a collection of architectural drawings being held in a library by the local heritage society. We requested to view them and a lovely, helpful lad at the society phoned to say they had arrived from the archives so we were welcome to come see them. He was very excited himself as he'd rarely seen such beautiful drawings. Needless to say we couldn't wait and set off the next morning. What we were hoping for was to get a good copy of the drawings of our cottage to frame. We have some structural issues that would be better understood by seeing the original layout. The 'Guisachan Collection' is quite beautiful. The plans show incredible detail, awash with watercolours that are a work of art in themselves. The collection should contain some 60 odd plans of which there were only 23 for us to see and most guttingly not one for our house. So disappointing.... We had been told that a fire in the archives some years ago may have caused some misfiling as a result, so our contact has said he will try his best to find any more for us. I think he likes a challenge. All we can do is wait and carry on researching and learning. As obsessed as we all are by documenting everything with photos these days it's an awakening to remember that unless you were an estate owner paying a photographer to take pictures of your fine house or shooting party, chances are there is no photographic or pictorial evidence that either you or your home ever existed. I don't suppose these old crofters had the time or energy to write a diary, so much living history that may be forever lost. The search goes on though ....down but not defeated 😊 Onwards and upwards

About the Golden Retriever
The Golden Retriever is a sturdy, muscular dog of medium size, famous for the dense, lustrous coat of gold that gives the breed its name. The broad head, with its friendly and intelligent eyes, short ears, and straight muzzle, is a breed hallmark. In motion, Goldens move with a smooth, powerful gait, and the feathery tail is carried, as breed fanciers say, with a “merry action.”
The most complete records of the development of the Golden Retriever are included in the record books that were kept from 1835 until about 1890 by the gamekeepers at the Guisachan (pronounced Gooeesicun) estate of Lord Tweedmouth at Inverness-Shire, Scotland. These records were released to public notice in Country Life in 1952, when Lord Tweedmouth’s great-nephew, the sixth Earl of Ilchester, historian and sportsman, published material that had been left by his ancestor. They provided factual confirmation to the stories that had been handed down through generations.
Goldens are outgoing, trustworthy, and eager-to-please family dogs, and relatively easy to train. They take a joyous and playful approach to life and maintain this puppyish behavior into adulthood. These energetic, powerful gundogs enjoy outdoor play. For a breed built to retrieve waterfowl for hours on end, swimming and fetching are natural pastimes.
