Gotta love how murricans will, with a straight face, talk about how dangerous 3D printers are because "you can print gun parts", meanwhile 14yo's run around in schools with full auto rifles killing other kids. With guns that were bought in a store or on some gun convention.
Like where did y'all go wrong that you will take the most generic ass tool and go "we need background checks for those but not for real guns"

The pattern of addressing issues in the US are all the same. Criminalize and legally restrict access to something associated with obvious problems, that everyone agrees on as issues. However the focus of decreasing those issues are on what seems common sense to see as the root cause. Like guns, or substances.
But criminalizing shit only creates a need for underground pathways to access shit, and usually the most harmful to use restricted shit are people of privilege who may not have it easier to get access to something, but is less likely to be hindered by the 🐖 in their pursuit or possession of contraband.
If you wanna alleviate social issues related to things like gun or substance use, or violence in general, you have to change the cause of it and the cause of the intensity which increases over time.
But making it illegal sure as shit don't work.

Okay, let's talk gun laws. I believe that gun bans in America are ineffective and useless, and would not work out whatsoever. Allow me to explain. If we take away guns, all the law biding citizens will give up their guns, right? But tell me what keeps murderers who already break the law, what keeps them from keeping their guns and continuing murdering people? Nothing. Guns don't kill people, bad people kill people. If you disagree, please try to argue your point.

The process of change can involve the steps of intelligent appreciation of the artefact's potential use or misuse (gun bans come to mind), whether it can be accepted, what the impacts and costs will be, and the decision to trade or buy and then use the artefact (for example, will I buy the latest smartphone?).

And no toasters, either.
Tumblr media
March 30, 2023
As expected, the MAGA dead-enders who showed up for disgraced former president Donald Trump's rally at the Waco, TX airport last Saturday were forced to endure an hour and a half of him whining and complaining about being held to account for his crimes. But they were additionally subject to a long list of items that attendees were not allowed to bring to the event. These included chairs, coolers, selfie sticks, drones, structures (?), balloons, balls, banners and (for reasons unknown) toasters.
Also on the list of banned items were firearms. This is not surprising because the Secret Service routinely prohibits guns at venues where protectees like current or former presidents will be in attendance. Still, it seems an odd directive in a no-permit, open-carry, gun-crazed state like Texas.
It was the same at the NRA Convention in Houston last year, held only three days after the mass shooting at an Uvalde elementary school where 18 students and two adults were killed. At the conference's leadership forum — described as "one of the most politically significant and popular events in the country" and whose speakers included an array of ardent 2A defenders, like Trump, Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz and South Dakota governor Kristi Noem — guns were banned there as well. And this was an affair sponsored by an organization whose solution to gun violence is that people should buy more guns!
When a white supremacist opened fire at Black patrons of a grocery store in upstate New York last year, Florida fuehrer Ron DeSantis mocked the idea of gun-free zones. And Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, claimed, "97.8% of public mass shootings since 1950 have occurred in gun-free zones." (A bald-faced lie, of course.)
Nevertheless, DeSantis's "Unite & Win" rallies last year, sponsored by Kirk's TPUSA, strictly prohibited guns at every one of its events. DeSantis, who supports an open carry law for the Sunshine Reich, even wanted them banned from his election-night victory celebration at the city-run Tampa Convention Center. The spineless hypocrite just didn't want anyone to know it was him. Chase Finch, safety and security manager at the center, wrote to other city employees that “it sounds like they want us to say it’s our policy to disallow firearms within the event space if anyone asks.”
Republicans are fine with people openly brandishing guns in schools, churches, bars, parks, movie theaters and your local Walmart. Only not when their own safety is at risk. They don't care if we get murdered. Just as long as it's not them.
