New to fishblr and am in the midst of a hyperfixation that hopefully lasts into a legitimate hobby. Been researching pretty much every viable fish for beginners and unsurprisingly, these came up.
So, if you have guppies
I find it fascinating that you can so easily replenish your own fish. Forgot to add an 'I'm bald' option sorry
rating my guppies based off how much i personally like them
jared hopworth:
huge motherfucker. likes swimming into things he shouldn't. someday he will succeed in drawing blood when he nibbles on my fingers. i love him 10/10
i do not know you:
looks more like a goldfish than a guppy. weird little motherfucker. 3/10 tried to eat a shrimp alive the other day
the desolation:
just a baby ;-; too small to know her color yet! she doesn't like schooling with the others much, probably nervous of the bigger fish, poor thing. 12/10.
michael:
she is excellent at eating all of the food before anyone else can. she seems to live to spite others, specifically jared. VERY fast. very fast. 8/10
helen:
orange and yellow cobra, small and baby. seems to be the most normal fish i have. a lovely creature, 8/10
beholding:
unhealthy tail fin :( he's blue but it doesn't show much. hopefully with time and healthier new conditions he'll be a real handsome little man. but today he chewed on the same food pellet for several minutes which was gross so 5/10
martin:
has been bright yellow since i got him but seems to be developing an orange streak on his body perhaps? what a delightful little man. loves to frolic. keeps trying to eat my hornwort tho, 7/10
alexander j newall:
mean to the newer guppies. -1/10. but also mean to jared, who's been asking for it. 3 point bonus for that. 2/10 total
bonus:
the snails, collectively:
-1000/10 won't stop having sex all over the tank and infesting my poor jade ferns there's too MANY of them
Alright fishblr. I got this light blue guppy from someone who said her fish were bullying him and she is convinced it’s a male. A few who saw the post about rehoming him on Facebook said it wasn’t bullying but that it was a female and they were trying to mate. So what do you all think? Male or female??
@iantojonesthebetta @justnoodlefishthings tagging y’all in case you know!
Delilah had her babies last night! We now have around 30 guppy fry and I’m seriously thinking about starting to selling guppies around my city and surrounding area and seeing how successful that ends up being. Maybe I could start shipping out if there is enough demand. Stay tuned!
I’m hoping that since they’ve been bred in a healthy tank that they will be quality guppies.
I have been feeding them small amounts 3 times a day as suggested.
This is their mom! She’s such a pretty, feisty girl!
Heyyyy! Sorry for being a bit inactive. Just had one of those months where everything goes wrong. Anyway! As you can see the babies are doing A okay. I asked my fish store why it seemed that my old fish were dying and they said "there simply isn't enough demand for guppies and since we have so many different ones they don't survive years after being bought because they're already old." so from now on I'll stick to taking the pregnant ones (all their females come pregnant).
I'm not the best at taking pictures but the white babies have gotten some amazing colors. One male and two females! I actually suspect one of the black babies has already gotton the biggest white one pregnant..... Are they still babies 🤔
I've already named the male, his name is ember! But it'd love recommendations for the two girls.
pictures from this weeks water change! im strongly of the opinion if you want an alternative fish to a betta thats super personable, guppies are your way to go. they do this to me every time my hands are in reach and theyre fun active little fish with a lot to offer.
and, bartok is growing so fast! hes developing some little bristles if you look! the wonders of a good diet of nice veggies and plenty of algae
