They're a big foster family who all love each other SO so much, and Billy's arc from "you are not my family" to embracing them as his siblings and parents is THE best arc ever in a superhero movie

Clawthorne-Nocedas:

Camila has one daughter. Daughter wanders into Demon Realm and is immediately replaced by a shapeshifter who wants a safe haven. Shapeshifter is revealed and Camila loves her and lets her be herself. Daughter returns from the Demon Realm with four traumatized teenagers. This single mother tries to understand their culture, and keeps them under her roof and never asks anything of them except to pitch in around the house. Embraces them and loves them, despite the strain on her wallet. And helps her OG daughter embrace her deepest desire and become a witch.

So freaking adorable

I fucking love Luz and hunters sibling dynamic, they’re all so silly and precious and they make me want to cry, Eda and Camila are both such mother figures for Luz and I just BCHSJSHSIDHDUOSNDHD

unapologetically weird

one of them is literally a living house and he's possibly the funniest being alive

gay af, neurodivergent af, and as culturally diverse as it gets

character styles are adorable

actual exploration and resolution for daddy issues, alcoholism, etc

illegal activity encouraged, they're one step from being communist revolutionaries and literally would/do commit arson for each other

fantastic character development in learning how to take care of each other

perfect balance of "cool parent" vs "unfit parent" slippery slope (there may be gambling

exploration of found family within bio family and how those relationships evolve

This is gonna be long but fuck it: people of Chattanooga, you're so goddamn lovely. I'm genuinely grateful that I get to look forward to Unknown Pleasures every month now, it's worth every minute of the drive from Nashville - I'm on my laptop so I can't use emojis, but imagine all the sappy ones right here, because you're all gorgeous.

The list specifies what the performers danced to. It's all their own picks, besides a couple fill-ins - they got skills and amazing taste to boot (I'm lucky to have heard some synth music Phoenix is working on and it slaps heavily).

I'll be joined by DJ THEOCULTT for our extra-cyberpunk event next month, and I'm stoked to finally be in town for their set (I've seen them go hard when I've played some of my own personal top-tier favs - this always warms my heart). Also, Ariel is coming back with an experimental piece combining her live performance with a music-video-style VHS piece my friend Julia and I shot with her (sounds complicated but I promise it's fun)... AND we've got CRT from Atlanta playing a sick live industrial/body set. Be sure to check out CRT's label, DKA Records - they're based in Atlanta, but they put out great electronic music from all over the world, and you'll almost certainly find something interesting (like FUEDAL, whose track "Movin" you heard on Thursday).

One last thing: R.I.P. Luis Vasquez, Juan Mendez, and Simone Ling. They were massive losses to music, gone for tragic reasons. Do your thing, but please be safe and carry naloxone. DIY music is in dire straits, and we can't afford to lose any more of the beautiful, sensitive people who keep it going - there's work to do and shows to see.

I want to thank you for including myself, Gabriel, Gus, and Herbert in "Helping America's Youth" White House Conference. It was a powerful day and clear in its guiding principles, articulated challenges and strategic plan.

Above all, I am deeply appreciative to you and your fine staff in their truly exquisite kindness shown to my three "Homeboys"! I suppose you always expect people to be nice. You and your staff chose to treasure these three guys and by your valuing them, they left D.C. feeling "valued". You all seemed to just pull the beauty and goodness right out of them and they got on the plane to L.A. and the three of them, felt "favored". Gabriel told a flight attendant -- "Last night, we made history - 3 ex-gang members ate dinner at the White House". And then he told her his story and about Homeboy Industries. "I made her cry, G -- I hope that's okay?" "You just showed her that you are somebody, son -- and sometimes people will cry when they see it."

It seems to me there are two essential truths. One is that God is compassionate, loving-kindness. And two, we are asked to do only one thing: to be in the world who God is. You, Anita McBride, Elizabeth Herald, Maria Miller, Sonia Medina and Ron Clark did nothing short of resemble God's own heart to the four of us. In the process, Gabriel, Gus and Herbert -- used to being easily despised and readily left out -- recognized that they are the shape of God's heart -- favored and valuable. Your kindness really did this to them.
