Well that’s my point like they’re… not? And there’s this weird focus on like little details matching but they needn’t necessarily be exactly like that because she’s a writer and fictionalizes stuff. Writing about freckles isn’t NECESSARILY proof you fucked someone with freckles. That said, if she says shit like “I Know Places is a daydream fantasy I’ve had” it’s weird to truther “no but she wore a sweater with a fox on it in Central Park so it’s obviously about Harry.” Like I don’t even necessarily think it’s NOT about Harry but it’s about the feeling and fantasy yk and not about a pap walk in Central Park.

Well the thing is imo TRUTHERING sexuality is inherently weird. Like there’s a big difference between saying “I’m picking up on signaling” or “I think this is cute and funny and relatable” and in that same breath being like “I’m not picking up on any signaling but I think this is cute and funny and relatable” and being like “I know Taylor Swift’s sexuality”. The only person whose sexuality you can conclusively know is YOUR OWN and even there tbh you can change your mind as you figure more out about yourself.

Next, Hetlors INSISTING there can be no gay interpretations for Taylor’s music are cooked. The Dorothea is about Selena thing is INSANE because Dorothea is sister songs with TDDS so it’s… clearly a romance song. Now you can use the sister song thing to say you don’t find Dorothea gay because you can be like “idk TDDS sounds like it’s about a guy” and that’s fine! But it’s also fine to think one or both of those songs are about gay girls because lyrical interpretation is subjective. As I’ve said before, I love mlm CLM - I don’t think it’s at all how she conceptualized it, but I think it’s a valid, well argued take.

I think everyone must just let everyone else vibe, and truthering sexuality is a weird thing to do imo. Taylor has, since fourth grade, appeared to be absolutely besotted with boys. Maybe she then found out she’s also into girls! That’s cool! She’s maybe signaled a bit to indicate that, and that’s awesome! Fluidity is normal! Maybe she’s a weird straight girl! Also possible! Maybe she’s actually a lesbian, in which case she’s gonna have to do some MAJOR soul searching and shit and people who claim to be her fans should let her do that yk not like truther it because that’s weird!! Here’s what I’ll say: it’s weird if it’s Harry because she gave EHC to Conor. Considering she was implicitly pinning songs that weren’t even Harry’s onto Harry in RED promo I find it ODD for her to go to the efforts of reassigning a muse on that one song if it were about Harry all along lmao.
