Do you have a favorite of your own characters? Or certain ones that you feel particularly connected to? I feel like creators tend to put bits of themselves into their characters--are any of them like that for you? Just wanna say your work is a huge inspiration to me and really helped shape my art and taste in media growing up, thanks for putting your work out into the world!!!
Theoretically, I love them all.
They're all a part of me in some way.
I've discovered over the years that I just can't handle characters I can't relate to. Most specifically, Billy, Mandy, and Grim are major facets of my personality. I purposefully related them to Freud's Id, Ego, and Superego, but they're all very specifically also a part of who I am. Billy is my fun-loving lust for freedom from schedules and consequences. Mandy is the part of me that realizes that Billy will destroy us all, so there must be structure. Grim is just trying to live his life. He wants to watch TV and pet cats, but life (unlife?) just won't give him a break. He's the viewpoint character to my Asperger's.
Irwin is the sad-sack/misguided hero redeemed, which is always a trope I love.
Eris is specifically the Discordian Eris, but also the extreme end of that Billy lust for freedom and the will of the RNG gods. (Good gravy -- my current BG3 playthrough)
Nergal is my love for Lovecraftian/Howardian Mesopotamian deities as has-beens.
Jeff the Spider (quite literally me at the time of his inception) was Too Nice, and therefore a sucker.
Hoss Delgado is the knowledge that if you gaze too long into the abyss... you end up with a chainsaw for a leg.
Then (because this is a collaboration) you've got characters who are primarily created by and representative of other people. For example, Fred Fredburger was created by C.H. Greenblatt. Sperg was created by Gord Zajac (as was Hoss, really). Boogey was created by Spencer Laudiero. All of these artists infused some piece of themselves into the character.
This is (IMO) where it gets fun. It's the ultimate Role Playing Game. It's childhood play made manifest. I've got my Luke Skywalker figure and you've got your Darth Vader figure and we've got two COBRA H.I.S.S. tanks and a Muffy from Battlestar Galactica and we're gonna hash this shit out.
Ideally, I think I'd want a "Simpsons World". A world where there are zero (or as close as possible) extraneous characters. Everyone represents something and everyone matters. I was so close with B&M. Fingers crossed I get there one day.

Pulptober 17th: Beauty and Badassery - Belit

Conan's fiercest love warrants a spot here, I think, since she's described as terrifyingly beautiful and has rather an outsized impact on the Conan canon for someone who only appears in one of the original stories. (as a side note I do not recommend any of the solo outings for this character, from what I've heard they're rather terrible and lose something of the wonderful Howardian action of the original tale) Art by Dan Panosian, Xaiver Collette, and Sanjulian

338. Ken Rolston - CB2: Against Darkness! (1984)
Tumblr media
The second (and last) of the Conan modules for first edition AD&D, this one is for relatively high level characters (10 to 14) and is, as such, set during the later years of Conan's career, when he has established himself as king of Aquilonia.
Tumblr media
This uses regular AD&D rules, but much like CB1 it adds some extra tidbits to attempt to capture an hyborian feel to the adventure. There are, for example, no clerics here, making the game harder in terms of healing, but to compensate there is an enhanced recovery system. There are also systems for Heroism, Fear and Luck all of which add to the Howardian sword and sorcery feel of the module.
Tumblr media
Also adding to this feel, is the fact that you get to go after and eventually fight one of the great iconic villains of the Conan stories, the wizard Thoth-Amon, going through a bunch of "episodes", kind of one-shot adventures, to get to him. On the way you get to fight plenty of snake-themed enemies, but the story is unfortunately a bit railroady and makes little sense if the party is not using the pre-generated characters of Conan and Friends.

🌳💚 Unveiling the Majestic Behemoth of Castle Howard! 💚🌳 This grand oak, deeply rooted in the Howardian Hills, is not just a tree, but a timeless sentinel, gracefully standing tall for over 400 years. A piece of living history that whispers tales of the Shakespearean era! 😮📖
A mere photo does not do justice to its splendour! Its branches sprawl out like nature's own cathedral, each leaf a testament to its ancient wisdom. Its sheer size has the power to humble any observer, reminding us of nature's enduring strength and resilience. 💪🍃🌳
We discovered this natural marvel on our Castle Howard walk, meandering through Coneysthorpe, Kirkham Priory, and on to Welburn. Each step surrounded by nature's beauty, with the unforgettable oak as the crown jewel. 👑🏞️

Although early scholars like Leberge and Castillones characterized Illapartean mythology as Manichaean, a more nuanced approach views the major cosmic dualities as engaged in a “collaborative competition” (Texon, 2293), an intertwining and even overcoming of individual desires to achieve a greater unified work. Familiar archetypes such as Strong and Beautiful or Don Huan and Donya Isabel can be traced back to a proto-Illapartean couple, Form (kꜥ-ꜣnyw ꜣn) and Freshness (kꜣ-sꜣriw ꜥ ꜣn), deific forces engaged in a constant one-upping of each other to impress their progenitor, Song (ꜣwit). The result of their repeated clashing, detailed over a cycle of twelve epic ballads, is the animate and inanimate universe. In this regard, Form and Freshness resemble most closely the Howardian legend, Alduin and Shor, suggesting that the belief system arose in response to the growing prevalence of extreme dualist thinking during the Information Era. Interestingly, the subsequent Gamer Era...

Had a trip to Howardian Nature Reserve today. A nice little unknown area of where I live. I managed to see a dragonfly, a bird of prey and a butterfly.
