I refuse to believe that Sheriff Stilinski would respond to the call and arrive at the Hale house to find it on fire and not run in to try and save them.

I whole heartedly believe that Sheriff Stilinski ran into the Hale House when it was up in flames and got burnt because of it.

In fact, there is one character who was canonically in the house when it was on fire but not in the house when it collapsed/when everyone else died.

Peter.

Sheriff Stilinski got Peter out but before he could go back for anyone else, the house collapsed.

This is my headcanon now and I will die on his hill.

Imagine all the Hale kids plus their cousins all at the park and kid stiles is there playing with kid Cora and her cousins then they make Derek play with them. Derek is classic middle child. He’s older than the little kids but younger than Laura and the other cousins. Stiles absolutely loves playing with Derek. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the werewolf kids and even the human ones too but Derek stays behind with stiles until he catches up. Then when it’s time to leave Talia calls over the kids with a loud whistle (lol my mom actually does this) and all the kids all start herding back to the car, including stiles who is just following along. It takes Talia when they’re half way home to realize that she took an extra kid with her, she didn’t even smell him cause they’ve all been rolling around him all day. Good thing she knows Claudia so she won’t be too freaked out.

She gets half way home and realises there’s 11 heartbeats in the back seat when there should only be 10 (I know, what car fits 11 kids, we’ll, they’re small and children - especially werewolf pups - have no regards for safety). She pulls over and turns around to see stiles sitting between Cora and Derek with a big smile on his face.

I like to think that Talia, Noah and Claudia grew up around the same time and know each other well, or maybe Peter caused a lot of trouble growing up and Noah was a new deputy that often had to deal with him (like Parrish with Stiles), so she knows Stiles and just drives him home. Chances are, Stiles snuck out of the house to go play at the park in the first place.

Stiles and Peter force Derek to stay still and show off the new sweater they got him, so that someone (most likely Erica) can take a photo!

Like Eli is a born wolf and the Hale and werewolf histories were obviously so important to Derek and now he gets none of that. Scott literally hates what he is how is Eli going to grow into a functional and happy werewolf with that as his guardian.

The Evermore Grimoire: Shapeshifters

The Hale Family is a well-known, well-respected, centuries-old and powerful family of Werewolves and one Werecoyote. Most of the family members also have the rare and unique ability to fully shape shift into a wolf. However not everyone in the family inherited lycanthropy gene from their supernatural parents, meaning that they remained human. Those that were born as werewolves used a Triskelion Medallion to help learn control over their shifts. It involved having the young shapeshifters focus on the medallion and repeat the family's mantra, ‘Alpha, Beta, Omega’ while taking deep breaths in order to regain control over themselves whilst highly emotional or during the full moons. This mantra was used to remind them that all werewolves can rise from one rank or fall to another, with Betas ascending to Alpha status, and Alphas falling to Beta or even Omega status, in some situations. Sadly though most of the Hale family located in or around Beacon Hills were killed in a tragic house fire that was started by a ruthless werewolf hunter name Kate Argent.

Stiles is ten when he saves the Hales from their burning home and Derek from a wolfsbane bullet, and this establishes a pattern that seem to continue indefinitely.

"Then he's facing a burning home, and he wraps the hood of his sweatshirt around his mouth before he pushes the door open and steps inside. There's Mr. Hale asleep - he hopes asleep - on the couch, next to - Stiles thinks that's his brother but there are so many Hales, who can keep track. He rushes over and starts shaking him, can see the rise and fall of the man's chest so he knows he's alive, but he's not waking up.

He shoves away his hood so he can shout, "Mr. Hale! You have to get up, there's a fire! Mr. Hale, get up!" Nothing, he's not even twitching, both of them taking in deep even breaths like they're having the most peaceful of rests, and Stiles is going to cry. "Wake up, wake up, wake up!"

There's a moment, where all Stiles can hear is the blood rushing in his ears and not the roar of the flames or the creak of wood, then with a violent, silent pop it's all back and both of the men are gasping awake, eyes open and jumping to their feet. "

Imagine Derek going to visit his family’s graves and he sees Stiles laying flowers on them. He approaches quietly, trying not to startle Stiles and says he's always wondered who put the flowers there because he wanted to thank them. He admits he hasn’t been able to bring himself to lay flowers on their graves since they were buried because he feels like he’s back at their funeral(s) and the pain is too much.

I headcannon that stiles after the nogitsune just knows all the stuff it knew, but without really knowing. He'll just know stuff with out any explanation on how he knows it, like all of the sudden he can speak Russian but he doesn't know how he knows it. He's just got a load of information without knowing how he knows it.

I'm not done talking about Derek as a brother. Things Derek does for Cora and Laura part 1

Plays Barbies with Cora. They had the cars and horse carriage, but before that they used My Little Ponies

He would brush her hair after she got out of the bath and got into her jammies

Knew the names of every kid who was nice to his sisters and would find some way to secretly thank them. Veronica, who stood up for Cora and whose bike has a flat? He'd fill it with air in the middle of the night. Isaiah gives Laura a snack and some water after gym? Mysteriously finds a bag of hot cheetos and $10 in his locker

Lets them paint his nails. Silly colors, silly designs, he doesn't care. And he won a bet against his friends that he could play basketball with acrylic nails and not pop the ball

He would take Cora to the movies when their mom had werewolf stuff and Laura was helping out and their dad was bailing Peter out of jail

Since werewolves are a little socially awkward, their parents thought they might want to enroll in after school classes to make friends. When Laura was little, she wanted to take ballet. Derek wasn't really interested in that stuff, but he chose ballet too so he would know Laura. And by the time Cora joined, he stayed to keep her company after Laura left. Even after Derek aged out of the program, he went to every recital and brought Cora flowers (even though it embarrassed her)

Derek has been known to fake being a crazy ex to get Laura out of bad dates

Derek has always supported his sisters' hobbies. He learned to read music to help Laura play the guitar, he bought Cora her first set of tarot cards, he studied cheer routines to practice with Laura

Whenever their parents were on a date or doing something important, Derek would take his sisters roller skating. He was never great at it, but he saw how much fun they had

Sometimes Cora would draw pictures for Derek and he kept a folder of them under his bed. There was so much stuff he collected, he put it in the vault. Now he has something that was saved from the fire
