since it's dimple day, just wanna say it's very very funny how dimple has been hanging around this middle schooler for months, protecting him both physically and emotionally when he gets the chance, and in his mind, he's like "yes i'm just biding my time... until i can USE him for my own ends.. yes i'm so evil.. so sick and twisted"
Small drawing collection of my latest creation Emran as a teenager/freshly minted Air Acolyte, for my dear partner in unhinged OC shenanigans @katkastrofa, as promised <3
don't ever look at popular social media personalities opinions on or check the tags related to a movie explicitly about the queer experience Worst mistake of my life. every single time a queer movie has gotten popular cishet people come out in droves to posit that Actually, my interpretation of the film where instead of being weird faggots everyone is normal is Just as valid as your stupid gay interpretation . and I'm meant to be like yeah okay
Like this for a starter of Alastor bugging your muse, and just not leaving your muse the fuck alone
In the wake of learning about who he’s truly contracted to and suffering at Roo’s hands, he slowly starts to unravel. He’s endangered himself and the hotel and is a wingless housefly flopping around in a trap he can’t get out of. Consistently, he represses his bleak fate and the fates of all he loves under a smile, and just overly friendly behavior, and he hangs around friends and enemies alike!
This estranged deer in this time cloys the desperate need for help by simply wanting to spend more time with his friends, abandoning any need for personal space and finding simply any excuse he can to just not be alone. If he’s alone, there’s no telling when he’ll be summoned back. If he’s alone, he’ll have nothing to distract him from thinking about what he’s done. How he’s…a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, and those he cares for may not survive the explosion.
“For so long I stood with your choices, Amil. But I can no longer look away, not when you have gone too far.” In his reddened eyes was a flicker of fury, of grief. Shards of a breaking heart. “Whether acting under the Oath or spurred on by your own demons, what you did was unforgivable.”
He touched Gildor’s shoulder and turned his brother away, though the boy twisted for one lasted tearful look at Curufin. But Celebrimbor would not turn, even as he walked away. He knew what sight awaited him should he give in to the need for one last glimpse of his mother.
Standing alone in the center of the hall, a dark shadow staining the white stone of Nargothrond. This place that had been home had been tainted, violated. Curufin was proud—even if in the wrong she would not admit to anything. There would be no regret in those hard eyes, not for the blood on her hands. Not for sending her own husband to his death.
If it actually turns out that Iron Fan, Nezha and Erlang used to have this Celestial Warrior Siblings dynamic... Besides his obvious rivalry with Wukong, I think Erlang's main beef (pun intended) should be with DBK.
Because let's face it; a large majority of what Erlang would probably see as "bad things" that have happened to his siblings are done by or direct results of the Bull King's actions.
Iron Fan's disgrace and "fall from Heaven"? DBK seduced her (plus Erlang would probably think black mail and Stockholm Syndrome are involved)
Creation of Samadhi Fire and Nezha getting stuck with what seemed like eternal 24/7 guard duty? Wouldn't have happened if DBK hadn't sired Red Son or at least controlled his spawn.
Making Iron Fan a single mother and her being left to handle all the demon politics and territorial struggles on her own? Wouldn't have happened if DBK hadn't picked up a fight with Wukong and gotten himself imprisoned (though I do personally believe the Celestial Realms forced Wukong's hand)
Nezha failing his guard duty because Wukong needed the Fire to stop LBD? Again, wouldn't have happened if DBK hadn't released the damn witch the first place.
The death of the Jade Emperor and causing even more disgrace to Nezha? Well... that one wasn't really his fault, but I'm sure Erlang wouldn't hesitate to roll part of the blame on DBK for being a former member of the Brotherhood and failing to stop them when he had a chance.
Is this post just explanation for why my personal head canon of Erlang's personality being summarized as "technically a good guy but definitely an (kinda justified) a-hole" would make so much sense?
Of course!
(Besides, I really, really want to see RS and/or PIF interacting with Celestials)
I know for sure I've asked about this a long time ago before but I'm kinda back to thinking about how different the development of Espio and Silver's dynamics would've been in Rivals 2 if they weren't as quick to fully trust each other as they were in canon but remained "enemies" a bit longer and only really teamed up out of necessity. If their dynamic isn't already near-spotless following an inexplicable "for some reason I trust you" type conversation, there's more room (and requirement, really) for growth on both sides; in the original dynamic it feels more like if there's any growth to be had then it'd be solely on Silver, so this thought might also help find a balance
I recall having talked about it before as well, yes. I would say that Espio and Silver alike have quite a few vices that would make cooperating between them far more difficult: they're both tremendously stubborn, proud, opinionated, hot-heated, and just to the extent neither can let evil go its way. While none of those are necessarily attributes that are bad in the situation they are in, I can envision them clashing very badly because of those traits. Considering Espio is actively chasing Silver down to gather evidence of him committing a crime, Silver's hot-headed nature might cause him to fly right off the handle if Espio keeps pushing him about it. And Silver's haughty and rude attitude in turn might make Espio far less willing to see the best in him and try to trust him. I think it speaks to Silver's honest nature and Espio's ability to see the truth in it that they were able to cooperate so relatively smoothly in Rivals 2, but I can also envision many scenarios wherein things did not go so idyllically until far later in the game.
What you're saying next is actually a bit of an issue I have when writing my fics: I've joked before that Espio is "already perfect" because he's just... basically an expert at everything, haha! He completes his missions well, he's driven and skilled, and his overly serious demeanour as the Chaotix's straight man alongside his snark feels like more like comedy than a flaw or something that truly hinders him to me. Meanwhile, Silver is far more 'imperfect' to me: he jumps to conclusions, he can be uncooperative and rude out of nowhere, and even if he is always right in the end, the way towards that end can be tremendously rocky because of those personality traits. That was why I wanted Espio to also go through a development in Stories that made sense to who he is as a character: specifically that he follows Vector's rule to a T regardless of his personal opinion on the matter, which begins to clash with the fact Silver is very much guilty but did what he did for a good cause (aka not a black-and-white scenario at all). And since Silver plays a central role there as well, I think his flaws can play a role also: he doesn't want Espio to be walked over, but the way in which he conveys that (which is rude as hell) might make things worse at first. Vector might be even more pushy about Espio gathering evidence if he gets yelled at by Silver, and Espio in turn might feel needled and put under pressure from two parties now that demand entirely opposite things from him (in his mind). I think such a thing could help make their dynamic more interesting and also different from New Beginnings, while fitting with their personalities.
Odin loved Loki as his youngest son and that is why he did not tell Loki about his true identity and heritage for a thousand years. His main failing as a father is, ironically enough, that he could not keep on his king persona, got deeply attached, and so then he could not eventually do what was necessary of him. (Telling the truth before it is too late.) It is because he loves Loki that his biggest mistake was made.
To that end: Odin - specifically the real, 2011-2013!era Odin - may be an absolutely terrible father half the time, but he is not as terrible as people are under the bold assumption that he is. He wasn't beating his children or forcing them into wars or condoning any of their rivalries. He actively pursued peace and the protection of his family until his world got shattered by the Dark Elves via Frigga's death.
Now I will say he's definitely more awful to Thor than he ever was to Loki... (see: insulting Thor's beau constantly and usually in front of Thor's face, trying to force Thor to do things he doesn't want to do, that time he literally called Thor unworthy of his loved ones and then exiling him instead of, gee, I dunno, making him deal with the repercussions of his actions on the home front.) But you can love someone and still do terrible things around, to, or for them. Parents in particular fall into this trap often... Odin is no exception to this.
Not only can I back up why I firmly believe this if you decide to ask me about it, but you cannot change my mind no matter what you say.
But he is not as god awful as comic!Odin, who absolutely deserved his fate battling Surtur for all eternity.
— Frigga.
If the Loki fandom is really gonna play this game, then Frigga needs to be held just as responsible for lying to Loki's face about Loki's true identity and heritage. If not more responsible than Odin. She was the parent closest and therefore the most responsible for Loki. She has absolutely no excuse.
Saying that she was "following Odin's orders" on this matter does not acquit her.
She never had to listen to Odin, actively executes the ability to stand up to and otherwise defy Odin (JUST like her sons do), and is the single person in all of the realms that Odin loves enough to listens to, and speaks his mind around. She did nothing, and there is absolutely no evidence that she ever tried to tell Loki anything.
You know what there is evidence for? Odin having plans to tell Loki the truth one day.
