Their Size

The Battletoads are TALL. Zitz: 6' 8" (203.2 cm) Rash: 6' 3'' (190.5 cm) Pimple: 7'4" (223.51 cm) They maintain their size in their TMNT Rise! AU. Also, a headcanon/observation by yours truly, Pimple grows even bigger when he gets really mad. He goes from 223cm to around 235cm during a fit and returns to normal size afterward.

Their Age

At the beginning of their adventures, Zitz was 20, Rash 17 and Pimple 19. They were trapped in a simulator for 26 years, which makes them canonically 46, 43 and 45. But, personally I think there are some time-gaps in between their earlier adventures of around 2 years in total, so I headcanon them to be: 48 (Zitz) 45 (Rash) 47 (Pimple). If they're personally asked about their age, tho? Zitz will give a very accurate answer after doing the maths real quick. And then lament about the 26 years they spent in a simulator without noticing. Pimple will just shrug because he didn't keep track of his age and doesn't really care either. And Rash will flat-out lie about his age every damn time. Sometimes he's 18, sometimes he's 20, and the next time he claims to be still 17.

Their Origins

Zitz' actual name is Morgan Ziegler, Rash' name is Dave Shar and Pimple's real name is George Pie. They were best friends and game testers before they got sucked into the gamescape and are in an alternate reality ever since .They have no recollection of their origins. They also never really talk about it. Are they brothers? Best friends? It doesn't matter. They are the Battletoads and they always stick together. Your muse is free to give them alternate nicknames. The Toads will likely roll with it if they like it. In the 2020 game, Pimple wears a robe that says 'Ron' on the name tag while he works at the Spa, and he clearly just went with that. But, we can also explore their origins in a thread.

Their Dynamic

Zitz is their fearless but also slightly insecure leader. He vibes with Pimple and also gets along well with Rash. He's the middle-man, keeping them together and knows how to deal with the other two. He's the one you want to call when Pimple flies into a fit of rage or to talk some sense into Rash. Rash is the quirky youngest of the trio. He is always up for fun and action and generally a cool guy to have around. But he can be all over the place with his whirlwind of moods and quickly shifting attention span, making it very likely that he has ADHD. He can go ballistic on someone real quick, but 3 seconds later it's all Kumbaya again. Pimple is the reformed bully and heavy hitter of the Toads. He's grown tired of senseless violence and tries to solve a problem peacefully. He only fights passionately now if it is for a good reason. As a result, he bottles all his anger and frustration up now until he explodes. He will literally blackout during a rampage, having him shocked over his own deeds once he snaps out again. Among each other, Pimple and Rash can be the source of frustration to each other due to their different personality. But they still love and care for each other deeply. If one is in trouble, the other will jump in to help them right away. They always vary between calling each other 'brothers' and 'best friends'.

what are your furry headcanons for the investigation team 🤔

YU is either a snowy leopard (obvious) or a deer. i like him being a deer because there's everything about him being a prey animal but entirely going against all of that innate stuff to discover his true self as the leader of the team.

YOSUKE thinks he's a wolf. he's a small dog at best - probably a pomeranian or something small and yappy. i will also accept frogs but his frog-fursona is more like a battletoad than anything cool.

CHIE is a falcon. give her that bird swag. its about the cool factor and being high flying and also some really striking plumage.

YUKIKO is an otter. sleek and smooth and kind of funny in the way that like, you've seen the otter puffing up its kid so they float, and it makes that funny noise? yeah. i dont know if this makes sense at all. anything stoat-adjacent also works.

KANJI is a rabbit. very bunny coded. probably has quite long fur which is soft, and MAYBE has lop ears. i also fuck with hedgehog-adjacent kanjis.

TEDDIE is teddie. it's easy to say he'd be a bear. i have no notes.

RISE is probably a red panda, or something close by. im really into her having like a long fluffy tail and i think red pandas have the same kinda fun look to them that rise does.

NAOTO is, in my humblest opinion, a cat. he's got sleek fur, piercing eyes, and the cautiousness that's helped keep all his nine lives intact. i also fuck a little with moth naoto which, i dont technically know if it counts as furry since y'know, insect, but. that one's obvious. i also accept penguin naoto.

some of the headcanons i’ve been drafting up are so night-and-day i can go from “cody’s awful homelife in addition to his bad luck with relationships has led to him to see himself as inherently broken and unlovable but he disguises this fear of rejection through a persona of being a dorky loser so he doesn’t have to confront these issues head-on and can just laugh them off with memes and dark humor” 

and then the next line is someth like “cody works at gamestop and noah pesters him for a copy of battletoads every time he comes in during his shift”

I’m writing a fic in the style of some folks gathered round to play Dungeons & Dragons. Let’s see how long it takes you to figure out what game/movie/show this is referencing!

DM: You have come to a high-rise above the den where the monster awaits. Warriors of all different types gather on the edge, watching the monster and its brood feed & awaiting your orders.

The creature you have come to slay is no mere monster, but a godly one. Blessed by Fisaine, the patron god of fun & battle preparation, this sentient creature manipulated His wishes and now uses his power of creation & an unknown energy to destroy.

Your leader gives a war cry of “Not one shall escape!”, and it is then when your guide turns back with a gasp, most likely to initiate warning to retreat. 

He is far too late.

The monster’s wings unfold, and from its gaping maw many bright & burning beams of energy release. Those who the beams envelop leave nothing behind. Not a trace of the fact you were ever there exists but for 6 survivors. They are you, and you are they.

Late Player, stepping in: Not anymore, there aren’t.

Another Player, to DM: Who’s this chump?

Player 2: I’m Pirann Audrey III, Nature Demon. I just came to see what was going on.

Player 3: I am Solo M. Arusu, noble hero and claimed descendant of the Eighth & Eleventh mythical heroes.

Player 4: I’m Akira Kurusu, but call me Joker in battle. I have a summon-able familiar as well - two, in fact, but one of them does not fight. His name is Mona, and my fighting familiar is Arsene.

DM’s Brother: My powers allow me to copy the powers of the enemies I face. I lost two friends to this monster today, and I’ve come for revenge, you monster. Remember the name Kirby, because you’ll see his face in your last moments.

Some Headcanons About The DLC Survivors:

Akira is a disgraced noble who steals from other nobles. He wants to slay the corrupt leader of Masayoshi, Prime Minister Shido.

Solo & Akira are childhood friends that joined the group together. Solo was the only one to stick by Akira when he was disgraced.

Pirann prays to the goddess Venus, not any plant deity. It’s why she was separated from the rest of her home - banishment for her beliefs, just because she went against that of their leader Petey.

Banjo & Kazooie were retired heroes before this adventure, and want to do one last job before they die. They worked with other heroes in the past, most of whom are not often seen in the history books. Conker, the barbarian quadrumvirate named the Battletoads, and their favorite adventure was saving a village of anthropomorphic pinatas.

Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong & King K. Rool (who has been redeemed) were the ones that convinced them to join once more. Fox & Falco are old friends as well.

Battletoads headcanon: Rash, Zitz and Pimple (admittedly very stupid names) were Gwar-style stage personas used by the toads’ human alter egos when they were in a short-lived metal band together, and they re-purposed the names when they became the amphibian pugilists the world now knows.

(the characters have various conflicting origins but them starting out as human is pretty much accepted as canon across the board.)

How does your body react to a jumpscare? All three of them have extreme comical reactions to jumpscares. Their heads turn big, eyes popping out of their sockets, limbs removing themself from their bodies... that sort of stuff. It's because of their odd physic and ability to change and transform their body at whims. On milder scares, they react with screams or may just instinctively leap into safety.

What sounds do you make that pertain to your species? They croak occasionally. Especially Zitz tends to make huffy croaking noises when he's annoyed. The three of them are even able to do mating calls. Which, of course, attracts only other (normal) Toads. After experiencing the second invasion of Toads in their close proximity after such a loud call, they've given up doing that. Although Rash still does it every once in a while because he thinks it's funny.

How long can you stay underwater?

I went on Google to find out how long toads can stay underwater for this, but I didn't find any concrete answers. What I'm getting is that Toads can breathe through their skin out- and inside water and that the length of time depends on the amount of oxygen in the water and its temperature. The colder it is, the less oxygen do they need in there. Even though the BT used to be Humans many many years ago, many of their physical attributes are more Toad than Human now. So they can stay underwater for hours, if needed.
