I'm a complete novice on kaiju films but i feel like I'd be more into them if they're all like this#ie. as much if not more emphasis on political infighting and feudal disputes as on the big monster things#i can see how this might frustrste some; our big friend doesn't really turn up until the final ten minutes and whilst#that's a very impressive ten minutes i imagine some viewers felt short changed. not me! i really enjoyed the romantic tale that built up to#the carnage; brave samurai and evil usurpers clashing as the poor village people are down trodden and enslaved. very old fashioned in some#ways and undoubtedly full of folklore and history that I'm none too familiar with but i can honestly say it was a really fun time#plus when Big Man did start to smash... boy did he smash#oh to be a young princess with a handsome protector and a giant rubble demon god to do my bidding#one can dream....

A lot of people worked at the Joker Game anime... but somehow I couldn’t find an English list anywhere.
So, since while translating the ‘story’ pages from the official web I had to find out who was who, I decided to also catch this chance to make a list for the ones that the official web takes care to credit for each episode (the authors of the script and storyboard and the director and the animation director).

GACKT, Fumi Nikaidou to Star in Live-Action Film Adaptation of Mineo Maya's Comedy Manga “Tonde Saitama”
It is confirmed today that 44-year-old singer/actor GACKT and 23-year-old actress Fumi Nikaidou (Wolf Girl and Black Prince live-action film in 2016) are set to star in a live-action film adaptation of Mineo Maya (Patarillo!)'s comedy manga in the 1980s, Tonde Saitama. Hideki Takeuchi, who previously worked on very successful live-action films based on Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile and Mari Yamazaki's Thermae Romae, is attached to direct on a screenplay by Yuichi Tokunaga. The film will be distributed by Toei in 2019.
The three-part manga was originally published in Hakusensha's Hano to Yume magazine from 1982 to 1983, then compiled in one-volume tankobon, and didn't achieved much success at the time. 30 years after, it suddenly started gaining internet buzz, and Takarajimasha released its reprint edition in 2015. Even more surprisingly, it has printed over 300,000 copies so far, which is ten times more than originally planned.
The story is set in a fictional Japan where people are discriminated according to their birthplace and
residence. Saitama Prefecture is particularly criticized by the people in Tokyo. One day, a mysterious
male student named Rei Asami transfers to Hakuhoudou Academy, a prestigious high school in Tokyo,
from America. Momomi Hakuhoudou, the male president of the school's student council and the grandson
of the director of the school, is gradually attracted by him. However, Rei's secret origin that he was
born in Saitama is accidentally revealed. He returns to Saitama to join resistance movement to eliminate
discrimination against Saitama citizens. When Momomi learns that a powerful politician tries to destroy
Rei's resistance group, he decides to go to Saitama to inform Rei of the danger.

Assembles a delightful group of young heroes and has them march off into terrors and dangers unknown#it's all very thrilling and very charming and perfectly captures that fairy tale feel (be warned tho; not in every sense a happy end for#our heroes). Also this is the first film to tease the Big Man in the opening‚ which is a good idea considering it always takes him an hour#to show up. Oh and he's developed new powers again (teleportation!) but mostly it's good old fashioned smash and crash#good for you Big Man. yeah this was a lot of fun and definitely one to revisit on cozy winter evenings
