he's so chill with his dog but the moment someone tries to hurt or look at it badly, he'd give them a deadly glare to make them back off

there was a time when he sat on the couch, muddled thoughts of the past making its way back into his mind. he didn't want it to cloud his mind, to make the mara resurface yet again especially when he's in your shared home and he could hurt you and the puppy

Life with Abigail in Chicago is everything I ever dreamed of and so much more. I can’t even imagine my life without her anymore. 

After last Christmas, Abigail joined me in Chicago soon after. Although we said we’d take it slow, she moved in with me right away for multiple reasons. One, she didn’t know anyone here except for me. Two, the amount of rent you have to pay for a decent apartment is insane. And most importantly, three, we wanted to be with each other whenever we could. 

We did however take our time exploring our relationship. We went on countless dates: getting breakfast, catching a movie at the cinema, taking a cooking class, and so much more. 

We took our time, and we needed it. The start of our relationship had not been as easy as Sy and Livia’s for example. Abigail and I had some bumps in the road. Ourselves. 

For her entire life, Abigail had felt like she needed to do everything by herself. She’d never ask for help, or share what she really felt. Back when we were younger, I had been there for her. I helped her whenever I could, whenever I saw she needed me. But after all this time, Abigail and I had grown apart for a bit. And we needed time to reconnect. I needed time to get to know her again, and get to know who she is now, so I knew when she needed me, just like then.

Abigail on the other hand needed to learn how to let me in, really in. She had built up these walls around her, and she needed to break them down for me. We both knew that it wasn't done overnight, but with patience, tears, and love, we got there. 

I also had to overcome some bumps. After a miserable relationship, I had to learn how an actual loveable relationship worked. I had to accept Abigail was there for me, like I was for her. That she wanted to help me too, that I had someone to rely on. Something I didn’t have before. 

But we put in the work. And after a few months, everything fell into place. 

My injury healed, and I got back on the court soon after. Abigail had already been adopted by my teammates, and their partners. The entire team is absolutely in love with my girl and rightly so. She gets along great with the other wives and girlfriends of my teammates, however I still hear her late at night calling with Livia, who will forever remain her number one friend. 

The Chicago Bulls hired her instantly as their photographer, after they saw the upgrade of my Instagram page when I started dating her. It’s nice having her around me when we play, dare I even say that I’m playing better with her around. Taking the best pictures for our team and it warms my heart to see her excitement when she gains a few more followers.

Besides that, she had started freelancing. She got a few jobs immediately, and it has been an immense success ever since. I couldn’t be more proud. 

I take a sip of my coffee, and overlook the skyline of Chicago out of the window of our apartment. Once Abigail started to feel at home here, she wasted no time to put her stamp on it. So, I got a hundred more plants, much more accessories, and an increased amount of candles. But I love it. 

Oh, and I had to build her a new closet. Which she is now rummaging through. 

‘Are you almost done?’ I yell, looking at my own, ready, suitcase near the door. In a few hours we will fly to Sapphire Falls, to spend New Years with Sy and Livia.

‘Almost!’ I hear something fall down, and I make my way towards the bedroom. ‘Where is it, where is it?’ I hear Abigail whispering. 

‘What are you looking for?’ I ask, once I have her in my sight. She is sitting on the floor, in the middle of what looks like the entire content of her closet. 

‘Mhm,’ she answers, searching for something in the puddle of clothes. ‘This!’ she exclaims, holding up a pair of Adidas sweatpants. 

I put aside my now empty cup of coffee, and crouch down next to her. I take her face in my hands and say: ‘You are the weirdest person on this planet. What’s wrong with the sweatpants you’re wearing now?’ I peck her lips, and she playfully rolls her eyes before I help her stand up. 

‘I told you, I got my niece or nephew a matching Adidas set like mine, so it’s obvious we’re best friends. I even got them those cute little sneakers.’ Abigail lights up when she talks about Sy and Livia’s baby. Sometimes I think she is even more excited than the parents to be themselves. But I’m not going to lie, that baby is going to be spoiled rotten by me as well. 

‘You got them 5 pairs of sneakers, babe. That kid has already grown out of them before they even wore them.’

‘Thankfully we’re flying private,’ Abigail says, kissing my cheek, ‘because with the amount of baby clothes I bought for my niece or nephew, I think I need an extra suitcase.’ She looks up and smiles innocently. ‘Am I too excited? Will that scare Sy and Livia?’

For a few moments I’m just lost in her eyes, especially because I realize that during this trip, I’m gonna propose.

Pop the question.

Getting down on one knee.

I’m going to marry this woman. 

‘No,’ I say, finally answering her question. ‘That will not scare Sy and Livia.’

‘Good,’ she smiles, and continues packing her enormous suitcase. I sit down on the bed, watching her. 

I had been thinking about proposing to her for quite some time now and I finally decided to let the two people I trust the most–besides Abigail of course–in on my plan. Thanks to the wonders that is FaceTime, they helped me with picking out a ring. I knew they couldn’t leave the farm, so through FaceTime, they helped me decide on the perfect ring.

I knew from the start she was the one for me. She had always been. But we needed time to be ready for a big step like this. 

One night I just knew. We had had a long day. I had a big game with the Chicago Bulls, and Abigail ran around all day. Taking pictures of the team in the dressing room, during warm up, the game, and after we won. We had to celebrate of course, and I had been so tired once we came back home. Normally I wanted to be alone when I felt like that. 

But when the door closed behind me, and I looked at Abigail kicking off her shoes, smiling softly at me, before taking me with her to the bedroom to get all cozied up in bed, I knew I never wanted to be apart from her ever again. 

She is my safe haven, my rock. And all I want to do is to take our relationship to the next level. To show her, she will always be mine, like I’ll be hers. 

You could say that since I proposed once, it’s gonna be a piece of cake now, however I can safely say I am experiencing some difficulty. Maybe because the stakes are higher. Maybe because I really don’t want to screw up. 

Thankfully Livia always knows what to do. Secretly we came up with a plan, and I can’t wait for it. I’m nervous, but not because I’m scared she’ll say no, but because I want it to be perfect. For Abigail.

She is done packing, and currently trying to close her suitcase. Which won’t close because it’s way too full. 

‘You can sit there, or help me,’ she sasses, lifting an eyebrow at me. I chuckle, but get up to help her. With quite some force from both of us, we manage to close it.

‘Please tell me you haven’t forgotten anything,’ I joke. 

‘Oh, god.’ Abigail gasps. ‘My toiletries!’

With wide open eyes I look at her. ‘You’re kidding, I hope?’

For a second, she keeps the innocent look on her face, but then she breaks. ‘I’m kidding hun.’ 

I roll my eyes, and wrap my arms around her frame. I lift her up, and throw her on the bed, landing on top of her. ‘You’re very lucky I love you,’ I say. 

‘And I love you,’ Abigail smiles, before her lips meet mine. Within seconds we have shredded ourselves of our clothing. 

Luckily I have a private jet, so we can determine when it leaves.

Countdown to Christmas Eve: a GentleBrava Tale

Presenting a story THREE years and THREE hours in the making…that might be going through several edits. Seriously, I have been sitting on this story ever since becoming a GentleBrava fan. I finally got it ready for Christmas so I hope you like it! And if anyone wants to give suggestions how it could be better, please give a like and comment. Merry Christmas!

The radio blared as Christmas Eve by Tatsuro Yamashita followed. It was December 1st and soon that special time of year again in Japan and a special first for a colluding couple.

Christmas Eve was nearing and Gentle and La Brava were set on spending the perfect Christmas Eve together.

“Good morning, my love.” Gentle greeted La Brava as he entered the kitchen to find her sitting at the set table.

“Good morning to you!” La Brava exclaimed, looking up from her laptop as she poured him some tea.

“What are you looking at?” He inquired as he walked over to her screen. La Brava quickly hid her tab so Gentle only saw her screen displaying a shopping page of gadgets and computer accessories.

“Oh, I’m just looking up some new hardware for video editing.” She fibbed “I really need to update some of my tools if I want to be ready for upcoming videos.”

Gentle looked skeptical but shrugged his shoulders. He also noticed a postcard at the table, but decided not to inquire about that as well.

“By the way,” Gentle began “What would you like for Christmas?”

“Oh all I need is you.” La Brava said flippantly.

“You have me everyday” he chuckled, hugging her from behind. “I want to get you something special. Something deserving of your loveliness.”

La Brava giggled, “I’ll give you my list soon. In the meantime, you do the same.”

“Yes mam’m!“ Gentle jokingly saluted.

La Brava rolled her eyes in amusement.

As Gentle started to eat, La Brava reopened her hidden tab to reveal her gift: an elegant mustache and beard grooming kit. It was perfect for Gentle and she couldn’t wait to order it!

Gentle, in turn, already had an idea for La Brava’s gift: a brand name laptop bag. He noticed a beautiful pink leather laptop bag with a bow at the shopping center that he thought was deserving of his girl. She didn’t always carry her laptop during their escapades, but he wanted to get her something that she could be proud to wear and use. It was perfect and he couldn’t wait to buy it!

The next few days, the pair prepared for the upcoming holiday, planning out how they wanted to spend Christmas Eve together.

“We have to see Christmas Illuminations!” La Brava exclaimed.

“I think it would be so romantic to go together and enjoy the lights!”

“Sounds wonderful, my dear!” Gentle responded. “If I may also suggest, I’d like to also get a Christmas cake as well for us to enjoy together.”

“Really? That’s what your looking forward to?” La Brava asked.

“…Well, I thought it would be a nice treat to complement a warm cup of tea.” Gentle said, unabashedly.

La Brava smiled, “Sounds wonderful”.

December 9th. The two began searching for a part time job to afford their gifts. Thankfully, it being imperative to hire part timers during the busy season afforded the opportunity to get a job.

“I found a job!” Both exclaimed as they met at a local tea place.

“Where?” Both asked

“Well, I can’t tell you” she said.

“It best be a secret” he said.

Both spoke over each other.

Gentle spoke up “It would be best if we didn’t run into each other so we can keep our respective gifts a secret.”

“Agreed.” La Brava said.

There was a pause before La Brava spoke, leaning her head on her hand.

“Gonna miss you during the day.”

“Me too.” Gentle responded, mirroring her sentiments.

December 15th. Everyday, Gentle and La Brava went to her respective part time jobs, Gentle being a postcard deliverer and La Brava a Christmas Cake seller, and in the afternoon, came home to each other.

“Everything good at your job?” Gentle asked as he and La Brava relaxed on the couch.

“Mhmm, busy, but good.” she responded.

“Only a couple more days and then we get to enjoy a perfect Christmas Eve.” Gentle mused.

La Brava squealed in response drawing Gentle’s neck down for a mock hug.

December 24th. Both said their goodbyes as they headed off to work. Once they did get off, they would go to customer pickup and meet each other at 7:30pm for the Christmas Illuminations.

6:00pm “Alright, enjoy your Christmas cake!” La Brava greeted after helping a customer.

Only an hour left of her shift and she would head to change and bring Gentle’s gift. “That’s weird…” her coworker mused.

La Brava looked to her co-worker. “What’s wrong Mika-San?”

“Our network is glitching. I can’t seem to use the touchpad.” Mika commented.

“Let me have a look…” La Brava said as she check the digital register.

The touchscreen continued to glitch.

“That is weird.” La Brava commented.

“Ladies!” The manager announced, rushing in from the back. “Our network is having technical difficulties! This could affect our incoming orders!”

“But we’re only supposed to work for another hour!” Mika panicked.

“I know, but this means we’ll have to think quick if we’re gonna serve the next rush of customers for Christmas Eve.”

La Brava could not be late for her gift pick up nor her date with Gentle!

Still…

“Leave the technical troubleshooting to me!” She told her coworkers.

“You two just worry about serving whoever comes in.” La Brava rushed to the back to her locker to grab her laptop. Something told her to bring it today.

Meanwhile, Gentle was on his break, going to pick up La Brava’s gift. Walking into the store, he browsed for a quick moment to see what else the store offered.

That’s when he noticed the man at the register. He pondered why the man looked familiar and realized he was someone he and La Brava had antagonized during one of their mischievous streams.

Before the man could notice him, Gentle walked quickly out the store.

“What am I gonna do?” he thought to himself.

That’s when he had an idea. A wonderful, awful idea.

Gentle went to the nearest convenience store and purchased a few things. Then, he went to the nearest bathroom and braced himself for a dire sacrifice.

“Hello, I’m here to pick up a gift. A pink laptop bag.” Gentle told the man at the register.

The man looked at him, squinting slightly at the clean shaven man before him as if trying to recall his face.

Gentle cleared his throat, trying to staying calm asking again for the gift. The man snapped out of his thoughts and gave his gift to Gentle. Gentle checked the time headed back to work, hoping his coworkers would bug him about his appearance.

All he could think was “My beautiful mustache…”

6:30pm “How it coming, Aiba-san?” her manager asked.

“It’s still not working! Something must be causing the whole system to crash!” La Brava exclaimed.

“Please keep at it! Our customers are not too happy with the delay” her manager pleaded.

“Understood…” La Brava resigned.

Grabbing her phone, she texted Gentle she would be a little late. Wait for me, Gentle she thought.

6:30pm Hearing from La Brava was the only consolation Gentle got from enduring the endless teasing from his coworkers about his shaven face, wondering why in the world would he spend his break doing so.

“Please stop bothering me about it. What’s done is done, alright?!” Gentle asserted and annoyed.

“Alright, Alright” one coworker relented.

“These are the final postcards to deliver. Finish these and you’re done for today.”

Gentle took the postcards and left to finish his route.
