Robovie (2000) by Ishiguro Hiroshi, Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), Kyoto, Japan. Robovie is a humanoid communication robot developed by ATR to study human-robot interaction.
"The reason why they are humanoid in form is that they need to resemble humans for smooth communication. Humanoid robots are also well suited for both verbal and non-verbal communication, using eye contact, gestures and so on. One aspect of our robotic research, of course, is design methodology to determine how to design and develop a robot. Another aspect is to evaluate how well they interact with humans. Our approach to the design methodology aspect is to install as much human-human communication knowledge as possible into each robot. Whereas robots are generally designed by a top-down method based on knowledge of human information processing mechanisms, this approach is not necessarily correct. We take a bottom-up method to build robots with richer communication abilities. To be specific, we build programs for as many robot behaviors as we can imagine, and then we define transition rules among the behaviors." – Everyday Robots as a New Information Infrastructure, Ishiguro Hiroshi.
The video was taken at the Robofesta 2001 festival in Osaka, Japan, where ATR's Robovie made an appearance.

Profiles in Villainy
Ishiguro
The sinister Ishiguro had been an ‘esper,’ a being possessing remarkable psychic powers.  He used these powers for crime, becoming a powerful member of the syndicate known as The Claw.
Ishiguro belived in esper superiority, that those with psychic powers are better than regular humans and are meant to rule over them.  Furthermore, the strongest psychics should lord over those with weaker powers.  Shortly after joining The Claw, Ishiguro and several other espers challenged the group’s leader,  Suzuki.  Yet  Suzuki possessed much greater powers and the coup was quickly put down.  In order to remind these under-bosses to mind their place, each received terrible scars about their faces.  Ishiguro received the most scars and has since always covered his face under a mask.  He additionally wears a costume that makes him look taller as well as a voice-alteration device that provided him a creepy, child-like voice.
Some time later, Ishiguro and his battalion were tasked with either recruiting or destroying a young esper named Mob.  Mob ended up possessing a much greater degree of power than Ishiguro had anticipated and the villain was thwarted in his various attempts to kill the youth.  After one final defeat, Ishiguro was killed by Suzuki’s son, Sho.
Actors Rumi Ōkubo and Hiroshi Iwasaki voiced the character in the original anime (with Cristina Vee and Mike McFarland providing the character’s voice in the English dub).   Ishiguro first appeared in the ninth episode of the Mob Psycho 100, airing on September 5th, 2016.

Elfin

Fantasy Sex Doll
Combining a number of factors, Fantasy Sex Doll are becoming more and more prominent in our culture. This is often expressed in strange and humorous ways, but they are represented on the largest scale in Hollywood films. Although, entity dolls often appear in pop music and rap songs, never as a character that can be depicted as a central figure or major character. In this article, take a discussion of the wonderful world of Hollywood movies inspired by physical dolls! If you are a love doll owner, you will get a real sense of how these directors interpreted the future development of love dolls and their interaction with your life. If you've never been exposed to it, you'll be shocked at how normal the concept of physical dolls in movies is! Regardless, art comes from life, and while physical dolls may not be a major part of your life, all signs point to a place for them in the future! At the end of a tiring work week, you might want to check out the finer points of a sex doll movie! Here's a list of movies that everyone who loves physical dolls shouldn't miss! Doll Wonderland The crazy and creative nature of this show earned it a spot. It contains love, lust, and a deep philosophical questioning of the future of robots and humans. It's a film that almost incidentally shows what is most real and most likely to happen in the years to come after 2020. It's hard not to be sure. Imagine an angry, rebellious teenager who escapes his long-oppressed family and has a friend who has a physical doll. Ask yourself, what are the odds of people taking or stealing their friend's Curvy Sex Doll and then eloping off on an adventure together? Even if a girl is doing this, why has she developed a friendship with the doll? Is it still a doll if it actually solves her emotional quandaries? This is a light comedy featuring Anna Kendrick that gets these questions and more straight to your brain.
ERICA, an intelligent physical doll developed by a Japanese R;D team, will be the female lead in the latest film produced by LIFEProductions, a high-tech boutique entertainment, marketing and advertising company that is leading the way in the use of AI, AR and VR in film and television. Based on the details shown it can be tentatively determined that the film tells the story of a scientist trying to perfect human DNA. The clich; is that, as in most science fiction films, the experiment takes an uncontrollable turn and the scientist's creation is forced to escape the lab with his help. The story is in a way taken from real life, i.e. the Japanese scientist created it to study human-computer interaction. But ERICA's creators, Professors Hiroshi Ishiguro and Kohei Ozawa, had never planned to act in a movie for their robot, let alone star in one. So the two decided they would ;teach; ERICA how to act - and they did so by modifying the built-in artificial intelligence chip and program. The film's visual effects supervisor said in an interview: ;In other forms of acting, actors incorporate their own life experiences into their roles, but the MLW Doll has no life experience; she was created from scratch to play the role. The director and film director had to simulate its movements and emotions through one-on-one sessions, such as controlling the speed of its movements, telling its feelings, and guiding its character development and body language. In fact, ERICA was supposed to make its debut in another film directed by Tony Kaye, who had made his name with ;Transcendence; and ;American X-Files; but later canceled the plan. When ERICA was first introduced in an 18-minute video in 2017, its makers talked about wanting to change the world with what they called a ;robotics project. They said: ;We believe that ERICA is the most beautiful, human-like, intelligent Blonde Sex Doll in the world. We want to be one of the creators who change lives and change the world with this moving creation. They see what they are doing now as very similar to a work of art, because the physical dolls are very real. They represent the other side of humanity, sex, companionship, and with the addition of AI, they have more ;emotion; and can perform and talk to people.
Truth be told, the film and TV show certainly aren't good enough to win an Emmy, nor will they cause any significant social change. Creator Cody Heller is also a bit self-indulgent, as it fictionalizes her relationship with Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon. The show also gives humorous perspectives on some serious topics, which some viewers may feel uncomfortable with. Nonetheless, the show is creative, funny, and unique. Overall, it's worth watching. Fans of the Starpery Doll should take note of this film. We are acutely aware that men and women who are into physical dolls are often grossly misinterpreted and despised. Because of this, we are always interested in creative work that subverts misconceptions about physical dolls. In this case, we have seen acceptance, great humor and creative work on physical dolls. Hopefully this will encourage those on the fence about physical dolls to give it a try!

Hiroshi Ishiguro, the Osaka University roboticist, says we’ll see other cute, communicative robots in places like hotel rooms or restaurants (where touch-screen menus are already commonplace in Japan) to assist guests in other languages. Meanwhile, government initiatives continue: last year, robots began to be rolled out in 500 classrooms across Japan to help teach English after a 250m yen ($2.3m) investment from the Education Ministry. That could, in turn, help Japan’s younger generation grow up at ease with robots in a variety of environments. Ishiguro believes that they will integrate into our lives the same way smartphones did a decade ago. “Not just Japan will have more robots, but the whole world,” he predicts.

“Can you imagine what it would be like,” he asks, “to want to kiss a robot? To want to kiss that rubber, not-human flesh? There are people who have those kinds of desires. Imagine if you could run heat through its skin so that it feels not like cold rubber but warm to the touch? There are people who want to try things with that.” Human sexual and romantic relationships are unavoidably messy, he says, and many people would like to keep their lives simple—in which case a relationship with an android might be a solution. “I think this is the future,” he says.
