So we've all met Tamaru before, but the one that is predominantly speaking is Kongu! The one in the bottom right panel is Taiki... which... when inking, I realized that I made him too tall on this page and the previous. Oh well.

I've spent a lot of time trying to make height and proportions look decent. I have the benefit of CSP's tools if I get tripped up, but I think, in comparing this chapter to earlier chapters, there's been some serious improvement. So I'll take that win.

As a headsup, if I ever miss a weekend, something either has happened or I am focusing on school work lol I have.... two more semesters (excluding this one) to complete, and then I can actually return to a normal update schedule. Theoretically.

I also don't know who actually reads my little comments, so... hi haha

I finally drew the Toa Nuva as magical girls, as promised! I'm really happy with some of them. Some of them were easy to figure out and others were a struggle (Pohatu I'm looking at you lmao). Like I've said these aren't going to be in the Bionicle Sports Anime proper but I just like drawing cute dresses so here we are lol. Most poses are referenced from @adorkastock except Kopaka's and Onua's.

I really wanted to commit to everyone having skirts or dresses, but for Lewa I figured maybe it was better to give him shorts so he's not flashing everyone while soaring through the treetops lol. Which is too bad because he would rock a skirt. JUST HIM THOUGH everyone else MUST wear a dress. This is not optional (I also wanted to avoid making anyone look embarrassed or upset to avoid the "haha man in skirt uncomfortable with it" thing because. Yeah)

This is also our first time seeing everyone next to each other with relative heights! Tahu, Kopaka, and Gali are all approximately the same height, Onua is a short king, and Pohatu and Lewa are the tallest. I base human Bionicle heights on vibes almost exclusively.

I didn't set out to give everyone white gloves and shoes, it just sort of happened. Initially no one was going to have white in their outfit except Kopaka, but it's a good neutral colour if used sparingly that helps break up some of the otherwise very monochromatic look I've given them. I also gave Pohatu a couple of orange accents because I felt like it :P

Each of them has their Nuva symbol in a different place on their outfit, like Tahu's boots and Lewa's earrings. I meant to give them each their elemental symbol as well, but the only ones who wound up with it anywhere are Tahu (chest and hair clip) and Onua (gloves and boots).

One of the hardest things for me when designing magical girls is shoes. Shoes are hard in general because I never think about them ever, but especially magical girl shoes. Gali's are based on one of Lagoona's sets from Monster High, and Pohatu's are inspired by the shoes and socks in Idol x Heroine Miracle Tunes. The other thing I have a hard time with is hairstyles and I just kept them the same for this lmao I really didn't want to make magical girl versions of all these hairstyles. In hindsight I do wish I'd put some braids or beads or something into Onua's beard.

I figure they all have their own callout when they transform, like at the end of his sequence Tahu would say something like "the raging flames of the inferno! Toa Tahu!" and Kopaka says like "the silent fury of the blizzard...Toa Kopaka." or some shit lol. And then once they've all transformed and said their piece they pose and go "Unity! Duty! Destiny! We are the Toa Nuva!" idk maybe it's the PreCure talking lol but yeah I do love a team callout

More Bionicle SCP AU Ideas

Now with added angst! For simplicity, I will not be using their assigned numbers in this post. Also the [REDACTED]s are not all censoring the same event, time period, or person. Thanks again to @bionicle-ramblings for this AU.

Keetongu is an anomaly resembling a mushroom/Sasquatch hybrid, who used to wander around healing the sick prior to his capture.

Onewa and Vakama get along much better in this AU than they do in canon at the start, because Onewa can actually understand Vakama’s feelings of stress and resentment from being treated like less for something he can’t control, plus he can appreciate a fellow artist. Onewa isn’t all sunshine and daisies with him, but Whenua gets much more of his ire than Vakama does. He and Vakama actually balance each other out a bit, as Vakama felt guilt for things he shouldn’t, while Onewa didn’t feel much guilt at all for some things that he actually should.

Onewa was able to hide the early signs of his rocky skin patches as being a form of ichthyosis (a skin condition that resembles scales, depending on the type), at least until he developed his telepathy skills and the patches became more obvious.

Nuju is actually related to Agent [REDACTED], but did not find this out until after the [REDACTED] event, during a conversation in the [REDACTED] period. The agent in question was also unaware, as Nuju had been thought dead by the family and was thus rarely or never mentioned out of grief.

Nuju’s first vision was his sister being severely injured while she tried to protect him from being taken into custody by SCP Agents after he came to visit her and her young child (whom he hadn’t gotten to meet yet) upon returning from his mountain climbing trip. He stayed away to protect her, and chose to let her think that he had died in a mountain climbing accident. His last vision as a free man was the agents coming for him and Nokama.

Takua’s crystal form (Takanuva) is actually incredibly heat resistant. It is also incredibly hard to damage in other ways. Any scars that do form on it resemble rainbows or opal-like streaks. After the [REDACTED] event, he has several of these scars.

Vakama receives his first real hug in years whilst in custody from either Takanuva or Nuju.

Sidorak has a fondness for exactly two (2) anomalies.

Humanized AU thoughts. And both are ship thoughts, and thanks to @crystaltoa and @chancetimespace for indulging me on my nonsense

Both thoughts are under the cut because this is going to be long

First thought is of Vakama and Matau. One night, while the other Toa are sleeping, one of them, either Vakama or Matau, can't sleep and ends up finding the other. Like, Vakama, either after a long day or just because he's still not used to being a Toa yet, is just laying in bed. After some tossing and turning, he gets up and wanders around the base the Toa call home. No one else is awake, but he does find Matau still up, barely. After a moment, he goes into Matau's room, and accidentally scares Matau for a moment because, "Where did you sneak-come from!?"

After some convincing("Just for tonight. I'm not used to sleeping on my own yet. Blame the Morbuzakh for making me and my friends have to live together."), Matau lets Vakama lay next to him in bed. He is not letting the Firespitter lay on the floor, which is cold and hard. Vakama's also very warm, so no way Matau's making him move

And, after a short amount of time, still unable to sleep, Vakama asks Matau if he's still awake, and Matau is, because he hasn't shared a bed in a while. Vakama's up because Matau's got cold feet. Like he died from his ankles down. Matau moves, and then turns onto his other side once he notices some scars on Vakama’s back, old ones from his Matoran days. From when he asked a Vahki a question. Matau traces the scars and explains how he got a scar from the Vahki once, and has since fought to stay out of trouble. After that brief "opening up" talk, the two try to sleep, and are successful, more so when Matau drapes an arm over Vakama

Second thought is after a mission, Nokama is in a bathing room, like a public bath house, but semi-public and near or in the base. She's meditating, taking in the warm water and the quiet

Then the door to the room opens and closes, the latter snapping Nokama back to awareness. It's just Vakama and he hasn't noticed her, either because he's just tired or because he's zoned out. Regardless, Vakama has his back turned and doesn't notice Nokama as he undresses

Ga-Metru here also has public pools and bath houses, but Nokama is still silent as Vakama undresses, revealing both scars from the Vahki and their missions, and revealing that he is BUILT, as he has been taught to swing a hammer and being and tool-maker and then mask-maker. He's not ripped, just well built. Either way, Vakama gets the hell scared out of him once he really sees Nokama. She didn't look anywhere she shouldn't, don't worry, and she's not hogging the bath(it's like the size of a large hot tub or a pool. People can sit in it and have space away from each other). Vakama does say he can go to another bath, but Nokama insists; the water's nice and it takes a while to fill up a bath, so cowabunga

Vakama agrees, and he sits across the pool from her, even curling up and sitting with his knees to his chest. Evidently, he's never shared a bath before. At all. Ta-Metru is not as open as Ga-Metru, as Nokama can clearly see. She does ask if Ta-Metru is, at all, a... straight and narrow. Vakama admits it actually isn't, as he has seen Ta-Matoran share a dwelling for the night before the Morbuzakh struck, but nothing was ever public. What you do behind closed doors stays behind closed doors, and that's that. They're crafters, not people who are open about their bodies

That's another thing Nokama noticed

Regardless, they bathe and wash up, or at least Vakama does while Nokama goes back to meditating, tipping her head back to rest. And exposing a scar she got from a Vahki. Vakama didn't ask, but Nokama knows he's staring and clarifies it was a Vahki, but doesn't want to talk about it beyond that. Vakama laments that he thought being a Toa would mean being left alone by the Vahki, not having to tip-toe around them

There's more talking, but the two ultimately just relax, even end up sitting next to and resting against each other. Something they didn't expect about being Toa was just how isolating it is; Nokama's used to having her students around to teach and Vakama's used to seeing his friends and having them around. They haven't really been able to do either since becoming Toa and likely won't be going back to that life again

It's also kind of sad and the two are grateful the other is there. Makes the moment a little more bearable

Vakama: Then he opened his mouth. My crush was gone after the third time because he was so insufferable and an asshole.

So I made this some time after I made that one art of Ackar and Mata Nui post here

Ofc I had to make an art of my favorite Glatorian the second Glatorian of Tajun Kiina!

I decided to do one of my signature sleeping art I do with my headcanons for Kiina (ie, the necklace, tattoos, hair especially the braids and biomechanical parts)

I wanted to have her tattoos symbolize in a way in things that are important to her, the green butterfly for her closest friend Gresh, the Bara Magna symbol for her loyalty to her Glatorian role, the infinity symbol is not much thought of honestly, the one on her shoulder is actually something I don't even know (I tried to get closer looks but I still don't know) and ofc the Three Virtues because after seeing it in the hidden caverns she feels it's super important in a way she gets it tattooed on her)

Her biomechanical parts I had an idea of them that their added to boost certain things of a person but also have their downsides, Kiina had her surgically given to her a few days after being taken under the care of her grandparents as a kid and she's grown used to the sudden shift of metal and flesh from them, her hands help her have stronger grips and harder punches, her knees and thighs for better speed, her elbows for better arm throws and her abdomen area for better stamina but unfortunately due to the placement it gives her fertility issues

Her necklace is a reference straight from the 1997 Fox film Anastasia of Anastasia/Anya's necklace and music box from her grandmother Marie, Kiina's comes from her parents and the music box as a minutes figurines of the Lord of Water inside it, unfortunately for a good chunk of time the music box is still in her old village until she and Gresh finally go to get it

As for Kiina's hair, the braids are for when she wins a Glatorian battle for Tajun, an extra one is in the midst from Gresh from a half victory he deems for Kiina for almost beating a Skrall in the arena (before they cheated and broke her ribs by firing a Thornoraxx at her which bit her chest, which was how her biomechanical upgrades were discovered), the blue highlights are completely natural though and it's still unknown where they come from (but for me I'm still trying to decide for it)

So, I wanted to do more character designs for the Toa Metru fantasy AU from this post, but I’m waiting for my new drawing tablet to arrive. So in the meantime, I’m making the characters in Heroforge.

So as you may recall, Nuju is an elf in this AU. His outfit is more or less a recreation from the drawing I did.

And Whenua’s a dungeoneering dwarf, who has no right to be pulling off the monobrow as well as he does.

Matau’s a gnome. Designated Funny Little Guy for life.

Nokama is a… I don’t know, honestly. I was thinking like a Neriad or a Nixie, though the closest thing in DnD would be a Sea Elf. I was planning on giving her blue skin, but there wasn’t a shade that worked well and she looked like a Na’Vi, so I went with a more realistic skin tone with some blue markings and I actually really like how it looks.

Onewa's a half-orc. He's the one I'd probably change the most when drawing him since Heroforge didn't have quite the hair or beard style that I wanted for him, and I don't think his face 'reads' as Onewa in the same way that the other characters look like themselves. That said, I like how his build turned out, and I think his outfit suggests an interesting story.

And Vakama, the token human blacksmith. His weapon is a magic crossbow since that seemed the most conceptually similar thing to the disk launcher.

When writing this chapter, I had so many debates with myself on how I was going to write this. Actually, a lot of the writing of this chapter threw me through a wringer because I know how the game plays out, and it’s not mentioned in the book (I don’t think, at least…). I actually liked having Pohatu and Gali join in on this chapter, because at least someone is helping out le-koro haha

In the really old version of this comic, I had only Takua coming to le-koro. I don’t remember if it was just happenstance that he ended up there or if the Toa sent him in their stead… I don’t remember lol it’s been a while. There was a lot wrong with that version 😅
