i think that if anyone was gonna write "angst" abt tim and being bi/coming out it should be about how jack drake died before tim could tell him. that despite the complicated relationship he had with a parent who wouldve, couldve, been horrible about it, tim never got the choice to tell him (or janet. i love you janet i know you wouldve supported your little guy)

i Think (i know) . jack and spot are able to get along so well together because they were just two kids who accidentally made big names and reputations to themselves & they feel the need to live up to them. hes jack “cowboy” kelly who was making daring and dangerous escapes from the refuge and never too afraid to talk back to snyder if he deemed something wrong & shes Spot Conlon the girl who’s known for being the toughest person in the city. they Need to live up to those expectations of being strong & daring for the kids they’re in charge of (and also , party for themselves) . but when they’re together .. they get to let their guard down and be just jack and spot two teenagers who really just deserve a break

This is just a theory but like, since we know now Leelathae's reaction to Gwen's birth. What if the reason why she requested Jack to keep the girls hidden away in the castle is to protect their relationship especially Gwen.

She knows how others will react to seeing Gwen. She went through it. So as much as possible, she wanted to shelter Gwen in a loving family where they truly believe in their hearts about their beauty and love and believe in themselves. She suffered so much discrimination so she didn't want Gwen to grow up hating herself. And when time comes that Gwen will doubt herself, Leelathae could be there and comfort her. Because as much as Gwen's birth made her realize the meaning of her beauty, she wanted to do the same to Gwen.

I mean, Gwen has come to realize that she really does look different from others. Sure, she met CPC, but most of them were normal people until they were cursed. (Thermidora is a lobster so.) So who else can truly convince Gwen? Herself, who is her true love, and her mother, a splitting image of her. The very person who went through the same discrimination as her. Someone who was loved by Jack and continues to be loved by him.

She wanted Gwen to be in a loving environment, until she has to be exposed to society, and at that point, Leelathae, as her mother, will be the one to support her.

The MC was just out of nowhere teleported to this insane ass magic world with no money or magical ability, has 100% been struggling, dealt with 2 overblots already and has the useless headmage hanging their financial situation above them to get them to do shit for him,,, Azul probably knows all of this mind you,,, they come to him bcs out of the kindness of their own heart with all the shit on their plate already they want to save their friends (and like 223 other students) AND HE PRETTY MUCH DOES EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO MAKE THEM HOMELESS???

like yea MC could stay at Heartslaybul (in a room with 4 other guys) or maybe at Savanaclaw (while basically being Leona’s servant) or there could be other cannon possibilities (like Kalim is really kind so he might have let MC transfer there if they lost Ramshackle) but none of those options were ever a guarantee plus he would have taken all of MCs belongings they couldn’t carry with them out of Ramshackle

and Azul was making it actively more IMPOSSIBLE to fulfill the terms of the contract. yea no sorry Jack Howl the Moral Compass Haver but both twins would have to pull me off of Azul I’d break his bones
