I forget to tag things. often.

I'm intending to go and redo the tags on all my previous posts, so some of these tags are currently pretty empty

I'm canadian. i may spell things like "colour" instead of color

Often things are plural. for example i tag things as "textures" instead of "texture"

searching for text on tumblr sucks, but you can search for posts tagged by making sure you add the "#" at the beginning. Searching for two tags at once seems to be broken :(

Rip Medium:

"#game rip" Rip from a video game

"#website rip" from a website, like the official nintendo sites or stuff like that

"#music rip" rip specifically from a music release, like Splatune. not all music, see "#music"

Rip Type:

"#textures" textures of various objects and things

"#images" anything which is meant to be it's own image, in universe graphics and such

"#symbols" like images but, symbols. May also include symbols in textures

The game and series is tagged, so all splatoon rips are tagged "#Splatoon" and then the game as well: "#Splatoon 1", "#Splatoon 2", "#Splatoon 3" etc.

Game Mode:

If it's from a story mode i'll tag it:

"#Octo Valley", "#Octo Canyon", "#Octo Expansion", "#Return of the Mammalians", "#Side Order"

I always remember to tag the story mode, so if you're having trouble finding something your best bet is with this

Splatoon 2's salmon run is tagged "Salmon Run", while Splatoon 3's is tagged "Salmon Run: Next Wave"

other tags like "#Splatfest" or "#Tableturf" also exist

Characters:

rips of the character models are tagged "#characters", but character tags can be used for anything relating to the character

I often do full names, "#Frye Onaga", "#Marina Ida", "#Pearl Houzuki", "#Shiver Hohojiro", though until i get all my tags unified and checked through them again it would be good to check both

apparently i genuinely tagged something as "Manta Tarou Kizaemon Munekiyo" once, but i'll usually just tag "Big Man"

General enemy names like "#salmonids", or "#jelletons"

Specific enemy names like "#Griller", or "#Octodisco"

band names, like "#chirpy chips"

Location:

rips of the location itself are tagged "#maps", but location tags are for anything inside, or relating to the location

If it's in a normal battle stage, that will be tagged, like "#MakoMart" or "#Inkblot Art Academy"

Other locations like "#lobby", "#alterna", "#the crater", "inkopolis plaza"

things like "#credits" also may be tagged

Objects:

Probably the thing i forget to tag the most. I'll work on it

specific things like the weapon or gear name, maybe includes the brand as well

Meta Tags:

"#request" a rip that was requested from an ask or my discord server.

"#ask" and "#username"/"#anonymous" any asks and the username who sent it

"#not a rip" anything thats not a rip. if i remember to tag it.

"#not my rip" things ripped by other people, if i remember to tag it, but i usually mention i didnt rip it in the post itself

"#megapack" anything that contains a bunch of stuff. Most have migrated to the google drive

"#splatfilesqna" asks i get not relating to ripping things

"#edit by me" sometimes the textures or things get some working to look presentable or even legible,, so if i edit something i tag it with this

"#commentary" old tag from when i didnt used to yap as much. yapping on what the rip is

"#file upload" contains an uploaded file, like on the google drive, or through filegarden

Let’s remember what agere is, and that it’s not one size fits all.

I feel like a lot of people forget that at the end of the day, agere is often a coping mechanism for people with significant trauma. Which means the experience is going to be different for everyone. Different tastes, coping mechanisms, different Everything.

With such a vast diversity of people, a little curation on your end of your personal experience is needed in order to ensure your agere feed suits you.

I’ve done so personally for media I feel uncomfortable about , and often see in sfw agere, but the last thing I will do is expect them to not use a tag they have any right to use just because my personal experience with what they like is a negative one, I’ll just block and move on. It’s important to use appropriate tags, but with how tumblr works, (admittedly tags aren’t exactly tumblrs strong suit) things you don’t like are going to slip through the cracks regardless, so action on your end is ultimately required when it’s all said and done.

Let’s not bring the silly drama adults have over likes and dislikes here, because at the end of the day we are all sharing the same space. We can’t possibly expect to curate what fandoms, music, aesthetics, characters, etc etc, appear in Sfw agere.

Everyone is comforted by different things, and they have any right to share that with like minded people whom they can relate to.

I don’t always feel comfortable around some of the fandoms I see in SFW agere, but I realize that it’s a personal thing on my end, which requires action on my end (such as blocking), and I know that they have as much of a right to be in sfw agere as I do. As long as someone is experiencing Sfw agere and sharing sfw agere art,fiction, photos, etc, then they have any right to post in sfw agere regardless of what fandom, aesthetic, and interest, it may happen to be. I for one hope that anyone who happens to have interests I am uncomfortable about, find meaningful interactions and connections through SFW agere.

This is a sentiment I really wish i saw more of. Despite our differences, we all deserve the same experience, and none of us should have to limit ourselves to fewer tags when we very well all deserve to be here.

Bestiaryposting Results: Kraegrat

Allow me to start with a disclaimer: I woke up sick this morning, so if it seems like I'm doing a worse job than usual stringing words together, let's all agree to blame fatigue & cold medicine.

Now, on to our beast for the week. The entry people are working from can be found here:

This is kind of an interesting one: not only is there no physical description, but the entry consists entirely of describing a single behavior that has at best a tenuous connection to reality. Nevertheless, a number of people indicated that they recognized it, because this is one of those "bestiary fun facts" that tends to stick in folks' heads.

As usual, we're going to go through the depictions in roughly chronological order -- let me know if I missed yours. This week, for some reason, my original post doesn't appear under the #Kraegrat tag, so who even knows what's going on there and I'm fully willing to believe yours is hidden for some kind of absurd Tumblr reason. (Maybe it got flagged under the "don't go nuts don't show nuts" policy -- I kind of suspect that's what happened with the entry post.)

Images below the cut, because (1) aforementioned nuts, though i'm pretty sure this is within Tumblr guidelines, and (2) i really should be doing a cut for all of these but i keep forgetting.

@mobileleprechaun (link to post here) has gone all in on the pathos, making the Kraegrat small, fuzzy, and sad. They describe it as "beleaguered and persecuted" and "a poor guy" which honestly I think is pretty fair for anyone in a situation where you're constantly being hunted for your testicles. They also cite "tanuki inspo" for obvious testicle-related reasons, and yeah, I see it. Very good Sad Gentle Beast here.

@embervoices (link to post here) has done a few different species of Kraegrat, all of which have kind of a lemur look. (They also provided their own alt text, which I really appreciate, thank you.) The linked post has an explanation of design decisions, and also references that Anansi story about tiger balls. (I googled it just now, and all the results reference American Gods -- did Neil Gaiman make that one up?) Anyway, excellent whimsical lemur thing, love the depiction of it throwing the testicles.

@mayhaps-magical (link to post here) notes their "appropriate medieval disregard for standardized spelling" and explains that they reinterpreted it as "Kragen-rat". My German is almost nonexistent, so I had to do a quick check...

... okay, yeah, I see how that comes into play. I also like the idea of playing around a bit with the spelling and etymology, because gods know the medieval authors did the same with no regard for accuracy. (The vastly-encyclopedic, frequently-inaccurate work that has led Isidore of Seville to be put forth as a potential Patron Saint of the Internet is ostensibly a book of etymologies.) Anyway, I like this guy here. It kind of looks like one of those big dogs that are always kind of shy and nervous around new people, which I think fits with the description as "gentle". Also like that it apparently has both claws and I think thumbs for the throwing of testicles.

@silverhart-makes-art (link to post here) acknowledges that they're pretty sure they know what this animal is supposed to be, but they're trying to put it out of their heads. I think they've done a very good job of that: this is a pretty naturalistic drawing of a ground-dwelling mammal that doesn't quite look like any real animals, including the one that this entry was based on. The post linked above contains a description of the design decisions behind this critter, which I of course recommend checking out.

@coolest-capybara (link to post here) has, as usual, done a beautifully stylized rendition of this one. She cites the famous unicorn tapestries as inspiration, and I can absolutely see it. I think it's an interesting artistic choice to focus on the hunter rather than the beast in this drawing, but one that absolutely makes sense: the entry doesn't tell us anything about the Kraegrat except how it interacts with hunters. Enjoy your bounty of severed testicles, Sir Hunter... and, um, keep an eye on your dog if you want to make sure you still have all of them when you get home. I think it's contemplating something there. The linked post contains a brief description of design decisions, and also this line, which I enjoyed:

I'd also like to state for the record that when I started this challenge, I was not expecting to draw a field of severed testicles, but here we are. It was more fun than I expected.

@rautavaara (link to post here) has again taken an unusual direction with this one. They describe their interpretation as:

Medicinal plant-like lizard that loses its tail when scared off.

Considering this and the drawing, I think I can see the path of creative interpretation. The animal as presented in the bestiary entry is obviously ridiculous: a mammal that self-castrates to save its life is not an evolutionary success. So what could it be other than that? Well, lizards detach their tails to escape predators; what if there was a lizard with nodules on its tail that medieval people interpreted as testicles?

I can't swear that that is rautavaara's thought process, of course, but it makes sense to me as an interpretation of the material provided, and if that is what they're going for, I think it's quite clever. Also, as usual, the art style here is excellent.

@sweetlyfez (link to post here) explains that her design process consisted of blending together various animal features and then giving it sparkly magic balls, because that's all the entry really provides. Which, fair. Also I appreciate the taste in choosing what I think is "tapir + deer" as the animals to blend here. @karthara (link to post here) was apparently also skeptical about the idea of a self-castrating animal, and if you check out the linked post, you'll see a brief explanation of how they resolved that as well as some other thoughts on design decisions. The gist is that the Kraegrat has decoy testicles, which I love as an interpretation. Fantastic. No further notes.

@cheapsweets (link to post here) has done another ink drawing that is, frankly, delightful. Love the Kraegrat escaping into the Nonspecific Medieval Trees. Love, love, love the hunter getting smacked in the face with a set of thrown testicles while his dog watches. The above linked post also provides an explanation of design decisions which I think is worth reading, go check that out.

@treesurface (link to post here) has drawn us a rat-kangaroo thing (not to be confused with a kangaroo rat) calmly displaying its lack of testicles. Looks fairly good-natured about the situation, really. They provide a brief discussion of their design decisions in the linked post, and also express a desire for more "weird scary beasts" in the future -- so I checked, and while I can't really define what is or isn't a weird scary beast, I think we should get at least one qualifying entry in January.

@pomrania (link to post here) has made the understandable decision that they aren't going to draw animal genitalia today. Fair enough. I also think this is a pretty good depiction of a Mammal that is clearly not any animal we're familiar with -- I'm impressed by how many of the drawings we're getting for this are Plausible Yet Unfamiliar Beasts. Anyway, pomrania provides early sketches and an explanation of design decisions in the linked post. They also express relief that this is not "Yet Another Bird", and I regret to inform you all that there is a small cluster of Bird entries coming our way.

Anyhow, let's take a look at the Aberdeen Bestiary depiction for this one.

I have to say I find this illustration very funny. That bizarre pose where it's wrapped around a tree is good, but what really makes it is the hunters. Look at those two. Spear Guy looks like his eyes are about to bug out of his head, while Axe Guy seems like he's going "hey, is that normal? should we be doing something about that?"

Anyway, as some of you guessed (and as I'm sure more of you picked up from that very accurate Aberdeen illustration above), this is a Beaver.

Yeah, the whole testicle thing is probably a misunderstanding of the castor sacs that beavers use to scent-mark their territory. Castoreum is still used today, mostly in the perfume industry I think, but apparently the medievals had some kind of medicinal use in mind. So the people who surmised that this isn't actually talking about testicles but rather some other anatomical feature that looks like testicles were correct. I have no idea where the idea came from that the beaver would rip them off voluntarily, though.

8. How can people best accommodate you online?

- Using tone tags for certain things (jokes, sarcasm if it’s not clear etc). Not a necessity but they do help! Especially in anon suggestions/feedback/criticism where it’s hard to tell if someone’s being genuine or not.

- Using trigger warnings and using post tags properly (ie. tagging syscourse, vents, tagging triggers in posts etc - this is good for your reach as well as making it easier for others!!)

We use filters on our tumblr so certain words are blacked out or completely blacklisted - we come here to relax most of the time, we don’t want politics, bullying and unpleasant content playing without us expecting it. We engage with the news etc at our leisure, but don’t enjoy having to see it during our break times.

- Having alt text or image descriptions with images, and GIFs. We have GIF autoplay disabled, and often will read alt text instead of watching them (as we struggle with flashing lights)

- Understanding we aren’t always going to be 100%, and our 100% is incredibly rare (and best spent.. not online). It may look like we’re doing well, but usually we are not lol. I can’t remember the last time we felt okay. Also it may look like we’re online all the time/the fronter talking to you isn’t the one posting - we use queue post a lot :3 and understanding we aren’t always gonna reply to DMs immediately!

13. Hobbies: how does your system affect your hobbies?

In every single way possible honestly. I believe our hobbies vary between alter even if we do have some shared things - almost all of us love art and craft in some way. Sometimes someone will start something when they’re fronting and then switch for some reason…and then the thing will be forgotten. We have so many unfinished hobbies and projects.

14. Funny story related to being a disabled system

Omg omg I have a good one for this - one of our syskids was doing wheelies in our wheelchair the other week and then covered all the metal parts in stickers 🥹😭 It was so cute

We keep leaving our cane, crutches and wheelchair places because not all of our system is aware that we use mobility aids

Our cat always seems to know when we’re feeling unwell (even before we’ve realised) and will supervise and observe our behaviour and make sure we are okay. He’ll sit on our chest, stomach and legs while we rest, or he’ll curl up around my arm and put his paws in my hand. He knows when we’ve fainted and he’ll poke our face, sit next to us until we come around or go get our mum… but he also knows when we have switched out. He’s started using our amnesia against us to get more snacks - we’ll switch and he’ll come ask for more food 😭 Smart bugger. It took us ages of forgetting to feed him/overfeeding him before someone realised what he was doing. I don’t know how he knows, but he really does know. We’ve had to start leaving notes on the fridge to tell the household and any other fronters that he’s eaten.

And another one; we wear a subtle kitty plural venn diagram pin on our sunflower lanyard (along with a bunch of other pins) and our statistics teacher asked if it was because we like her subject lmao

Yey! Silly vent because I feel like shit!

So basically, I gotta let this shit out.. its fucking me up a bit rn.

I met this dude around the start of 2021 on tiktok AND HE WAS SO TALENTED AND FUNNY but he always said he wasn't. Anyway time skip a lil..

We started getting into a few arguments near the middle of 2022. And they where just small disagreements then they gradually got worse and worse every time it happend. And it especially got bad when I made another friend on tiktok who loved doing art related things and drew my old persona back then.

And HE WAS NOT HAVING IT and he said quite alot of bad things to me. Did I stay friends with him? Yes I did. Did I also block the nice guy just trying to be my friend? Yes. I blocked them out of fear of loosing my best friend.

And near the end of 2022 we started dating because things had gotten a better.

Oh how I was so wrong. Everything just went downhill when he left high-school. He always needed attention. He got mad at me because I couldn't set an alarm BECAUSE he was up at 10am and I was up near 1pm. So I forced myself to do so mutch bullshit for him. Like draw him art as an apology and it drained me do badly I could hardly do my own personal art.

I didn't even have personal art at this point. Every time I fixated on something it was what he was fixating on because he'd get mad at me and argue with me if I wasn't.

But everything was calm when it was around April in 2023 and we where finally getting along like an actul couple because of a game called final fantasy. We where obsessed with it for months! And then around June or July I re discovered transformers.

I have never felt as happy in a fandom since 2019! Like holy shit the fandom is so sweet.

But I kept it a secret from him he still doesn't know. Then at some point I made this tumblr to get my stupid little urges out and now look at where I'm at. I haven't been this happy in a LONG while.

And just st the start of 2024 my ex got into an argument with one of his friends and I offered to talk to them. so he agreed and I spoke to them.

Im so fucking glad I did.

Because without their help I'd still be fucking miserable. They gave me the confidence to dump that bitches ass and I honestly feel like a weight has been taken off. Because it honestly felt like a chore every day of my life just talking to him.

And my other friend on discord had helped me out to. Including you silly fuckers on discord/tumblr. If your even reading this... if you are why are you still reading this?

But anyway. I just needed this off my chest. Because it does hurt a little spite how good i feel but I just have an off feeling. I haven't put down everything that happend while I was with my ex and some things might be in the wrong order or time but at least I'm forgetting it?

Just. I love the transformers fandom so mutch mutch really helped me pull through...

As most people already know, Twitter has been banned in my country recently by our Supreme Court, and using a VPN to access the site is out of the question as it could result in a 50k BRL fine to whoever is caught doing it.

Sounds extreme but I actually support this decision because all of it started with Musk's denial in banning accounts that promoted criminal activity and our Supreme Court doesn't really fuck around and find out later; legislation does work in Brazil.

Following that decision, we all migrated to bsky and if your timeline feels a little emptier, that's why; believe me when I say we are everywhere - a massive number of daily and fan accounts were run by brazilians and we always interacted with posts from our favorite foreign creators.

Ngl, bsky is being a nice experience! I'm quite liking it there, the tags actually work, I actually see the posts from people I follow, it's been such a good detox experience tbh.

The only things I'm missing are the folks I forcibly had to leave behind, I won't ever forget all the nice comments and love my art got there, especially my rarepair posts. I also miss all the amazing Japanese artists and cosplayers I used to follow there, not many have a bsky account... 😔

Before leaving, I left my bsky handle on my Twitter display name in case anyone feels like following me there; I also left some tweets explaining that I won't be able to keep posting there in case the ban isn't temporary, one of them is pinned too.

I am still kind of new to tumblr and tumblr culture, but this bsd side of the internet is fun. I like y'all lol. I'll just let the other guy take over. I'm sick of this already.

OKAY HI I'm the guy whose behind the scenes call me Cyrillo and my mains are @spinnyspinnyspinnnn (spam) and @thoughtlessdesire (kinda dead writing/art) and you may know me from elsewhere but those are the accounts I use primarily. I'm gonna set the ground rules and such for roleplays and in general for the sake of sanity because I can talk a lot more interestingly than the guy I'm musing. All that's under the cut.

Rules

NSFW: No-go. Don't do it. Slightly suggestive things are cool but not straight up NSFW. I'm a minor and so is Valentin, weirdos.

Times: I won't be on all the time. Yeah, I spam my main a lot. But spamming reblogs is not the same as making posts, therefore I may be slow to reply to roleplays, asks, messages, etc.

Seperation: Me and Valentin are gonna be separate here. Yeah, I'm the one kinda "controlling" him so to speak, but I'm not the same as him and vice versa. Basically, don't treat us like the same guy.

Roleplays: I'll do some quick constant reblog roleplays with people in character! However if you want to do some serious roleplaying, the messages for this blog should be open(however I heavily prefer discord because Tumblr messages suck) just ask for my discord if at all applicable. I'll make it work but I'm way slower on Tumblr to reply, and way more forgetful about it. I'm also semi literate to advanced literate, depending on that time's motivation. So anywhere around 2 paragraphs to.. a lot of paragraphs. I heavily prefer my partners in roleplay to be similar when it's serious like that. Though the back and forths can be short, that's why they're constant back and forths.

Characters: OCs, canons, even a crossover or two? Completely allowed. I'm down for anything in general, and I'll make it work with Valentin somehow.

Asks: The ask box is always open, for anonymous messages as well. In character or out of it. I'll make the time for getting to those messages when I can, and I ask that you guys please be patient.

Ships: Valentin will only be shipped with other guys. He's open for overall relations with anyone, but romantically, it's only with guys. Canon or OC, just ask first I'll probably be fine with it.

What is Casus Vallis?

╰┈➤ It is a small, fictional valley town hidden in a mysterious set of mountains. It is the setting in which the story takes place. You can find a basic map of the town at [the link here].

╰┈➤ Several different characters live in Casus Vallis, most of which being college students who attend the Casus Vallis College of International Arts.

╰┈➤ The town has faced many hardships since its inception many centuries ago, some of which being otherworldly and hard to explain. There are many secrets that residents of the town have kept for decades, keeping the town quiet and unsettling.
