#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Spider-Man: The Lost Years#Kaine#Kaine Parker#one of my favorite somewhat uncommon tropes in comics is when a character is committing extreme violence but the internal monologue#is what’s framed as important and the focus of the page#Mr. DeMatteis does have Kaine do an immense amount of navel gazing in this miniseries and some of that leads to some very#90’s comic book writing#but I can’t say I’m mind; I’ll take whatever look into Kaine’s mind I can#like here for example#I appreciate the investigation into the sort of kinship Kaine feels with Ben#that for better or worse the two are inexorably linked#and I also find Kaine’s conflict over telling Ben the “truth” to be fascinating#almost as if he’s somewhat savoring having control over someone else’s life the way for a long time he didn’t have control over his own#also: Kaine not a total jerk confirmed; he may not be nice about it but he will give money to help someone else out
