Core: Ren is pretty much "what you see is what you get" by the time he's in Halcyon. He will hide some of his insecurities about his role in saving the colony. He doesn't like looking vulnerable in front of his crew.

But, yeah he doesn't have ulterior motives that he's keeping to himself, or some big secret he's keeping from the crew. He IS vague about his past, being from Earth, for his own protection at first, and then out of habit, so he does SEEM like he has some big secret, but really if they ever asked, Ren would probably tell them. (Maybe not Max at first, but only bc Ren is kinda petty, too)

Origin Story: Ren was created for my second play through of TOW! The first one I did as Ash (my other bby boy) and then had so much fun i wanted to create a new character just for TOW. But now i'm obsessed with him so Ren Hawthorne has kinda just become a separate OC and the tow version of Ren feels more like an AU ( @the-lastcall sound familiar 🥴)

Plot: In the TOW canon, same way as any main character would lol, I have him completely against the Board the whole time, pretty much as soon as he sets foot in Edgewater (he also falls for Phineas p quick so. U know LOL) I like to give him, Phineas, and Hiram a happy ending to their story (if i ever wrote it all anyway LOL)

(I also have an original story im working on where Ren is much younger and inadvertently ends up setting off a chain of very spooky events in a small desert town that's inhabited but some equally spooky folks 👀)

💖 What made you start writing?

I always loved stories, consuming and creating them. All of my dolls had their own names and backstories that I play over in my mind again and again as I basically just silently moved them around (I struggled to express myself, so when playing with other kids I’d just go along with whatever they went with). I only learned how to read when I was eight years old, and even then, it was a slow process from going from funny comics, to kids’ books (those very thin and with full-page illustrations), to those “Diary of a--” kinds to finally reading a book with more than 100 pages and no illustrations (a classmate chose to read The Selection for a school work and end up buying all the books so I asked if I could borrow it [I remember liking it at the time, but I don’t think I’ll ever revise it, lol. Still fond of it for being my first “real” book, tho).

After that I tried getting into writing it a few times, but it never stuck. I just couldn’t find a story I was interested in writing for more than a few pages and always end up forgetting about it. Fast-forward to the ending of 2019: I’m graduated from high school and just starting my gap year. To put my English into practice, I started sending letters to other English-speaking folk through an app (Slowly, it’s really good!), and the more I write, the more I fall in love with the process of it. One of my exchanges was with another writer, and reading him talking about his stories inspired me to open a writing app; 1k words of a draft for an original story get out! It was about a concept I had been turning around in my head for over a year and I remember being really proud if myself for it (sadly, it fell victim to impulsive deleting tho 😞). That concept didn’t go much further (I tried making an outline for that story and found out I’m not an outliner, lol), but this time, writing stuck and I still wanted to practice it. I started watching tons of writing videos, practicing quick scenes as warm ups and to see what I can do (those I still have it, but only an edited version of them), and when I reached the bottom of the felinette fics on the Ao3 tag but was still craving for more-- well, I decided to give a go to the fox!Félix concept that had been bouncing around in my head :P

Well, I’m trying to keep my focus on finishing Trickster, but the brain worms don’t care for focus and just keep knocking on my imagination’s window with ideas that range from oneshots to new AUs that I really don’t have the time to right now, BRAIN! But, as for an actual answer: a new Komi Félix oneshot about how he met Flora (it’s still in the “foggy idea” stage, but I’m thinking that they could’ve been childhood friends/acquaints, but while Flora remembers fondly of their friendship, Félix ended up dumping their time together with all the bad experiences he had while interacting with his peers and gets very freaked out when she greets him during one of their classes together), and there’s a whole chapter in my docs for a new felinette fic that I promised myself I won’t post before writing more for it (it’s pretty much Outside of my Comfort Zone territory and I’m kinda scared of ever sharing it djmddjmddimd).

Thanks for the ask, Pinky! apparently my brain has decided “gush” means “throw lots of random fun facts at everyone” today so here we go! Here’s your favourite tomato gal! :3

-She and Saarai were always twins and I’d always intended for them to be close, and the bare-bones basic premise of how I wanted their relationship to work was “Saarai is the brawn and Kas is the brains”. While this is still true, it did evolve ever so slightly in that Saarai is now also the (more reliable) moral compass. Kas isn’t particularly Dark-sided, but she’s not Light-sided either, she’s inherited a lot more of mom’s “I will do what I have to to get a job done even if that means I have to kill a bitch” attitude XD

-When I first came up with the idea for the twins, Kas’s name was originally going to be “Jen” which is the High Sith word for “hidden, or in shadow” (”Saarai” is the High Sith word for “Truth”, for reference ;) ) ; so their names joined together would have meant “Hidden Truth”. I don’t remember where Ni’kasi came from because it isn’t an “actual” Sith word nor does it have particular meaning (though I might try to make one up, we’ll see :P), but the very first time I went to write down solid bios for them I ended up writing “Ni’kasi” instead of “Jen” for her and it’s stuck ever since then.

-Initially, Kas’s colour pallette was a lot lighter, which you can see in all of her screenshots up till now (cause I forgot to change her when I changed the design earlier this year oops :’D) and also in this art piece I ordered of her last year, here:

and the twins were very darn near close to being identical, but I decided that I actually rather liked their dad’s more purple-ish skintone earlier this year and that it was a shame neither of the twins looked a bit more like him, so I changed Kas up a bit and gave her dad’s skintone, jaw spurs and eye colour. She’s got mom’s red-tinted hair and (mostly) mom’s ridge/browstalk structure though :D

-Great with her own kids and direct blood relatives (e.g. nieces, nephews, grandchildren), but kinda iffy with other, random children. She won’t hurt them but she’s very much D’leah’s child in that respect, she’s very “Sith-y”, and liable to be abrasive, unsympathetic and so on. Generally not the sort of presence you’d want around your kids... there will definitely be tears hahahaha

-The scar on her eye was originally going to be caused by D’leah in the same fight that she gets Saarai’s nose, when Ni’kasi got between them to try and break up the scuffle, but I retconned that instead when I re-thought some stuff about that so now she gets it from the Inquisitors after they figure out who killed Ty’s dad and come after them.

-This is also how Kas ends up in the slave pens, after they kill D’leah they throw Ni’kasi into slavery (which is a bit of plot armour/oversight on the Inquisitors part, I admit but shhh XD) and figure y’know “she’s never gonna get out of there again”. A lot can happen, and be forgotten, in 60 odd years tho so eventually they do throw her back into the Academy much to Kas’s surprise.

-She has a lot more scars other than the one on her eye, just that most of them are on her back, or the back of her neck, so you generally can’t see them (I haven’t drawn a scar ref for her yet, it is also on the to-do list lol)

-Aria’s hairstyle and general appearance actually came about because it was based on my second-favourite “portrait” choice for the PC in KOTOR II. She wasn’t how I saw my version of the Exile looking, but I really liked the design (including the little blonde fringe streak) so I decided I wanted to do something with it! <3

-We don’t get to see it much because usually when I draw her she’s back with the Sith and fully into the “Dark side” portion of her story and therefore her eyes are amber, but here you go, a nice glimpse of Aria’s natural eye colour! As mentioned on Myla’s ask, she has heterochromia as well, though her grey is “lighter” than Myla’s as she inherited the grey from dad and the brown from mom (yes I know technically it doesn’t work like that but basically I couldn’t decide which one I liked better so instead of agonising over the choice I went “one of each, problem solved” XD)

-Aria was actually the very first SWTOR-era OC I made, very closely followed by her dad, Roan, and then Vano, then her mom when I worked on her backstory, and followed by everyone else haha. I created her for an RP on an RP site that got a couple of posts in and then died/my partner ghosted me for whatever reason (I’ve never found out nor does it matter really), I was disappointed because I really liked Aria and didn’t get to “do much” with her, so I recycled her when another RP popped up, used that to build her backstory and prompt me to start the Subterfugeverse and then threw her into the Zephyrverse AU RP with my buddy k-christine once she got back in touch and we started RPing again :D -Aria gave me the most trouble (other than maybeee Saarai) in terms of finally nailing down what her sexuality was. I had no idea what she’d be at all when I first made her, other than I knew this binch wasn’t straight hahaha. So first, I defaulted her to bi, but then that didn’t seem to fit her much (I didn’t know pansexuality was a thing at the time), then during my self-projection phase I considered leaving her as just a lesbian but she wasn’t happy with that either and eventually I figured out pan is a thing and she started jumping up and down and screaming HELLO YEAH THAT ONE!! at me. The only thing that was for sure obvious to me was that she’s demiromantic, because while she can get around and doesn’t care who with (insert “will fuck anything (humanoid) with a pulse” joke here), the romantic feelings often attached to that for other people take a long time to develop for Aria.

Now originally this one asked what he’s packing, but honestly I’ve not stared at enough dicks in my lifetime to make that even remotely interesting; imo it’s average length, but thick as fuck, and that’s about all I have to say on the matter lol. Since that’s obviously not enough to warrant a whole post instead we’re going with this modified version which I got from another list. I don’t remember who created said list, so my apologies for that.

But anyways! We got a lot of ground to cover, so let’s get into things, shall we?

|| The Scars

Whether we’re talking a modern AU or something more canon compliant this man has his fair share of scars.

In the yeehaw days most were earned from living life as an outlaw. There’re at least half a dozen overly smooth lines on either arm from near misses with blades and bullets alike; a few puckered scars from the unfortunate occasions where he wasn’t able to find cover in time to dodge the latter. He also has a decent amount of knife wounds, though most of these are compliments of his love for five-finger fillet. These nicks are, for the most part, super old and confined to his hands—though he does earn himself a new entry (or several) every now and then if he actually finds someone that can match or exceed his skill. The rest of the knife wounds were earned in various bars and the like, and the fights that always seemed to find him there; these are mostly confined to his forearms and torso with the exception being the cut on his neck. As for my theory on how he earned that one…

Well, he was out with his former lady-love and someone made the great mistake of disrespecting her. This led to him bodying a mf, much to said mf’s surprise. Dude thought that just because our mans is on the smaller side that he would be easy pickings, and he, of course, was very, very wrong. Humiliated, the accoster limped off to lick at his wounds, but just because he’d been beaten in that moment that didn’t mean that he’d been defeated. He caught Javi a few days later in a blitz attack—meaning he cracked him over the head with his dagger’s handle before pulling him in and pressing the blade against his neck.

He probably could’ve killed Javier if he hadn’t started monologuing like a goddamn idiot. Honestly it was some shit straight out of a B-rated action flick; he really wanted Javi to remember who he was, and what he’d done, and why he was about to die. It was all very dramatic, and low-key annoying, but good in that it gave Javi enough time to loosen his own blade and drive it back into the man’s side. It wasn’t a killing blow, but it was enough to get the man to flinch. This was both good and not—good because Javier was mostly free at that point, not because the blade ended up digging into his neck some. The resulting wound was deep, but thankfully not so deep as to cause any fatal damage.

Back in the yeehaw days this is what set off the chain of events that eventually led to him fleeing Mexico all together—at least in my personal canon—and ig the same can apply to modern AUs, depending on said AU. And since we’re on the subject–

In modern times he obviously doesn’t have the bullet scars and other combat related injuries—or hell, maybe he does if this is a Gang/Mob!AU type deal—though FFF is still a thing he enjoys across all AUs/eras so his hands being nicked up is p. much always a given. The neck slice is also still present and, as I said, was obtained in much the same way.

|| The Tattoos (oh lawd, the tattoos)

But his scars are far from being the most notable thing to grace his skin because tattoos are a thing and they are a very, very good thing indeed.

Look, Imma level with you guys—I am an absolute fucking whore for tattoos so naturally I want to cover anyone I can in the things lol. Luckily I think that Javi would be pretty into them. He views tattoos as a cross-section between accessories, art, and self-expression. Because of this his reasons for getting them ranges from “I thought it would look cool.” to memorials of lost loved ones to just wanting to get inked by a certain artist.

As for what he specifically has that’s a whole ass thing and too much for me to think about right now. No, seriously, I would be here for literal days coming up with designs and trying to arrange them in a way that flows lmao. It doesn’t help matters that I switch between him being absolutely covered in ink and only having a few tasteful pieces. Regardless of how many he has, I do think he’d be a fan of blackwork. I don’t really see him having too much color at all; maybe the odd pop here and there for aesthetic, but that’s it.

Also—HAND TATTOOS. That’s it, that’s the kink. He’s already got amazing hands, now imagine them (especially his fingers, holy SHIT) accented with ink…

(I’m totally not fanning myself as furiously as a southern belle at an outdoor ball during the height of summer, no sir.)

|| The Whole Damn Package

Looking beyond his skin, dude’s got a body regardless of what century he’s in. If we’re talking outlaw!Javier it’s earned by necessity as it just isn’t viable to not be in shape by his estimation. So much of his life revolves around physical work, be this tending to his chores around camp or the more dangerous side of gang life, so being at least somewhat fit is kinda unavoidable. It makes his life easier and moderately safer if he’s able to do things quickly without having to worry about getting winded or not being strong enough to get things done.

In modern times he understands the importance of keeping healthy, plus he’s—well not exactly vain, but he does take pride in his appearance. He likes to look good both in and out of his clothes so exercise is a must for him. This doesn’t mean that he likes doing it though lol. He’s that guy that goes into the gym on a mission; he’s got his regimen and his workout playlist and god fucking help anyone who gets in the way of him getting shit done lmao.

Overall he is a very pretty boah—10/10, would ogle again.

haha omg I haven't touched #16 in like four years. Okay, don't judge me, but i've got it titled in my outlines folder as "PowerPossible"

The outline's pretty long. i've actually shortened it for you all lol. Please let me know if you want to hear more about this one!! I can talk about it for a while :) Read below the cut for all of it!

this story's the obligatory Human/tmnt/Kim Possible-ish AU. The girls are NOT related and have no powers (in the beginning).

Family dynamics:

BC: Professor and Ms. Keane are her parents, she has a little brother named Ken (ppgz reference ;p). According to BC, Ken is their favorite child. She's just jealous because Ken has more in common with the Professor, who BC truly adores. She and the Professor have trouble relating because she's into sports, he's not. However, the Professor and her are more alike than she knows. Ms. Keane is still a kindergarten teacher and is the reason their family moves to Townsville.

Bubbles: Her parents died when she was young and now, she lives with her grandparents, the Mayors! The Mayor is still the Mayor of Townsville. (btw Im 85% sure that canonically his last name is also Mayor) The Mayor is under HIM's thumb, and when he finally messes up one too many times, HIM has him "taken care of." However, that's like towards the middle (?) of the story. So, in the end, Bubbles only has her grandmother.

Blossom: Two moms! Ms. Bellum and an unidentifiable second mother, who isn’t important (lol). 2nd mother isn't dead or anything, and she's happily married to Ms. Bellum--she's literally just one of those "mentioned in passing characters who are constantly out of town." Ms. Bellum is the Mayor's secretary, which Blossom uses to her advantage.

PLOT

The story starts out with the girls in kindergarten. Bubbles and Blossom are friends because Bubbles is the only person who doesn't think nerdy lil Blossom is annoying/socially awkward/too smart for her own good. Blossom in turn doesn't make fun of Bubbles being a crybaby. Buttercup's kind of a bully, but she's really just mad that her family had to move to Townsville. Ms. Keane (BC's mother) finally has enough of Buttercup's rebellious attitude and makes her sit with Bubbles and Blossom. Together the three girls find themselves in a confusing and troublesome situation: what happened to their class pet Twiggy??? (that hamster in that one episode). They solve the mystery (i.e. Mitch), and Ms. Keane frees Buttercup from the "loser lame-o sissy table." Except Buttercup ends up staying because *spoilers* they become best friends. (and she likes solving mysteries with them)

FASTFORWARD TO HIGHSCHOOL-ISH AGE

The girls are as thick as thieves and have a bad habit of sticking their noses where they don't belong. Blossom's the brains of the operation, Buttercup the muscle, and Bubbles is the obligatory "guyssss you promised we were going to the mall today not solving crime!" (Like Arnold from the Magic School bus who's like "oh please let this be a normal field trip!" And everyone is like "With Bloss and BC?! No Way!")

They've hit a "mystery" dry spell. At this point, none of their "mysteries" have been high stakes. Just petty stuff, but BC wants more. After another bust, she goes home and overhears her father (who's still a high-profile scientist) on the phone talking about the "odd mutant/monster-like" sightings that happened a few days ago in Townsville Central Park. Buttercup takes it as an opportunity to 1) help her dad and win his favor (that she already has smh) and 2) to break the dry spell she and the girls were going through, so they set off to investigate. To protect their identities, the girls essentially "mask up" and by the end of the story are described by the Townsville News as vigilantes.

Eventually, the girls stumble headfirst into Townsville's underbelly and the adults in their lives are all connected. They find that there is in fact a mutant uprising that has an overwhelming connection to the Professor, his ex-lab partner, the Mayor, and a mysterious man only referred to as HIM. And, of course, Chemical-X. X was the once abandoned project of the Professor and his once lab partner Mojo Jojo. It was supposed to be a miracle medicine! Now, in Townsville's underbelly, it's a popular/very dangerous drug/commodity.

At one point in the past, during a fit of rage, Mojo had mutated himself with an unstable vial of the chemical—accidentally--and fleed with the only "perfect" vial. He runs into a sickly man (who becomes HIM) and is conned out of the chemical. HIM takes the chemical and it "cures" him from his disease. It also gives him "superpowers." (NOTE: chemical-x superpowers varies person to person) However, the chemical is also unstable, and now HIM wants (NEEDS) a better formula, one that isn’t tainted (as Mojo still cannot figure out how to make it correctly) and will do anything for it. This is something that HIM believes the Professor can do. So, the Professor is essentially blackmailed into working for HIM (like most everyone who is in a position of power in Townsville). It's an expensive endeavor, so HIM sells the "almost perfect" batches (which in small doses can make a person feel invincible, but is highly addictive) to the crime syndicates. If you take an "almost perfect" version of Chemical-X, you generally need to keep micro-dosing to stay alive or your body starts to fail. (This is why HIM needs that PERFECT version)

Unbeknownst to everyone, The Professor was only ever able to perfect the formula once and it was by complete accident. (the version HIM had gotten was very close to perfect, but not all the way). Even the Professor doesn't know how he did it. (But that's because it wasn't the Professor who had perfected it--the Girls had done it accidentally during a sleepover in middle school (which the ever studious Blossom had recorded in her notebook). The Girls had been playing "scientist."

However, the Professor HAS figured out an Antidote-X. Again results vary. His version works best on the lab rats the original research group had experimented on. Blossom ends up perfecting Antidote-X for humans and the Girls are able to reserve mutations they come across on their "patrols", which pisses HIM off to no end, resulting in a bounty on their head. (He doesn't like the lose in profits)

As more mutants begin to appear and HIM becomes more frustrated at the lack of progress, Townsville becomes a darker place. At the height of this frustration, he kills the Mayor (who was wanting to break ties with HIM b/c of Bubbles' pleading). At that point, the Girls know who HIM is and what he is capable of. Since they have no one of authority to turn to that can stop HIM, they work together to create the perfected chemical-x like they had all those years ago in hopes that they can appease HIM and free the Professor.

The Girls figure out the formula, and in a race to save the City and, most importantly, the Professor, they confront HIM. Because they're kids, they naively think that they can trade the formula for BC's dad. It doesn't end up working out as they planned. In the end, HIM injects BC w/chemical-x (PERFECTED version), and she gains superhuman powers. To keep the ending vague, the Girls end up saving the day ;)

Important Characters the Girls Encounter:

Amoeba Brothers: the brothers are the first failed chemical-x test created by the Professor's research team that did not result in death. They haunt the sewers after they escaped the lab. They are the Girls first encounter with the mutations/mutants running rampant in the City

Gang Green Gang: Delinquents chosen by the City to be injected. Again, the tests failed. Had temporary "powers" but they teetered off quickly and the boys permanently stayed green (weird side-effect)

Bunny: Sad. She is also a failed test, but she is mutated while the Girls are actively investigating the case. She has super strength and was able to break out of the lab. The Girls hunt her down and they end up trying to help her. However, she passes away. This has a lasting effect on the girls.

Sedusa: she's definitely in the story idk how yet. lol. I just really like her as a character.

Princess: For financial support, HIM promised Mr. Morebucks that'd he'd give Princess superpowers like she wanted when the formula is perfected. But she’s mad, impatient, and power-hungry. In the end, sick of HIM's games and the Professors inability to give her what she wants, she injects herself with the chemical. It works for a bit, and HIM's like "holy shit did we do it??" but after a few days, she becomes unstable. (Her death is captured during live television b/c she makes her superhero debut a Whole Thing). Knows Blossom and Bubbles b/c of their parents. Doesn't like them. Doesn't bother to learn BC's name. Just canonically a brat.

The RRB: Adopted by HIM (and Mojo) "out of the goodness of their hearts." (PR stunt). They were really adopted to be test subjects, but HIM ended up liking them more than anticipated, so HIM decided that they'd be injected AFTER chemical-x is perfected. Absolute shit-heads. They can do whatever they want and no one can tell them "no." They cause havoc for the Girls to keep them off HIM's tail. Drive futuristic motorcycles that leave "light trials." Mad that they can't pin down who the Girls are.

Rung is a very rare type of character, being an ostensibly ‘masculine’ character (in regards of a human binary lens) who prides himself on empathy, understanding, and caring for others’ physical and mental wellbeing in ways that often linger in more ‘feminine’ realms (again, in approx. to the human binary); it interests me to be able to explore such concepts in a territory where, considering lore and implied history, there’s no societal concept of (human ideal culturally-imposed) gender. He’s a creator ‘deity’, he literally produces souls, but nothing about his design is meant to emphasize a human sense of reproduction/fertility/etc. Most people would never look at him and conclude who and what he is. There’s also the fact that he’s been methodically documented, experimented on, taken apart, and then tortured for approx. 2 million years and yet he refused to let that break him. Rung is unflinchingly kind, willing to reach a hand out to anyone who needs a shoulder to lean on even when he has nothing of his own to offer. Hell, he studied medicine and philosophy so he could build the foundations for the Cybertronian method of behavioral psychology because even without memories of being Primus, Rung wants to take care of his creations. ...And then you add in how absolutely adorable it is to watch this old man dodder about with his puzzles and models and big googly glasses and I love him so much okay--

To be honest, Rung can be kind of a Mary Sue/over powered character in some people’s eyes. Like, what, this random character who’s new to the franchise and made specifically by the author is actually Transformers God who suffered amnesia? And is friendly and polite to everyone but also has a streak of keeping a grudge and survives literal untold horrors because his body can just heal itself?? And he spits out crystals that make up sparks??? OH AND HE’S MILLIONS OF YEARS OLD AND DID I MENTION HE’S GOD SOMEHOW AND THEN HE STRAIGHT UP JUST DIES TWICE IN CANON, WOW

Also both my mom and my granddad are shrinks so I have, like, a basic grasp on psych stuff after reading through their textbooks and watching my granddad’s old research films and study tapes, so it was familiar territory I settled on writing Functionist!Rung in specific because I sympathize with having weird + painful medical shit inflicted on you all the time and because the idea of someone so genuine and careful being the core of a revolutionary movement is really,,, makes my heart squeeze.

I’ve got another couple D&D one-shots coming up this month, which means more characters!  I’d thought about completing the Belomantia trifecta but ultimately decided against it, and ended up coming up with a whole new character instead!  And by that I mean, not just another OC given a D&D AU version, lol.

But then naturally I went overboard—because that’s what I do when it comes to rolling characters for one-shots—and came up with a backstory and exactly what I wanted her to be... but couldn’t quite slot her perfectly into a D&D class.  More accurately, multiple classes seemed like they’d work and I couldn’t choose between them… so I rolled multiples.  Then instead of having one character, I sort of expanded on the backstory to end up with two.  Three, almost, but I forced myself to calm down a little bit there, lmao :P

Drifa Hearthsinger - level 5 Dwarf Fighter (Battlemaster) Str: 18 (+4) Dex: 13 (+1) Con: 14 (+2) Int: 10 (+0) Wis: 8 (-1) Cha: 14 (+2)

Drifa and Dorma Hearthsinger (last name subject to change, I wanted to do something with “Kiln” but couldn’t come up with a word mash I liked) are a pair of sisters born to a clan of weavers and tailors in some sort of medium to large D&D dwarven city, and grew up both watching and helping their family create costumes for the local(?) fighting ring/fantasy wrestling league.  Both sisters talked about participating when they got old enough; Drifa actually followed through, and (after a few false starts as a face) became relatively successful as Aedorn, a gold/money-themed heel character.  Dorma was mostly content to stay out of the spotlight and help her sister’s career from the sidelines, but when Drifa came up with a “special move” where Aedorn could duplicate herself, she roped her sister into the ring.  Dorma was willing and enjoyed it, though she wasn’t passionate enough about it to give up her place in the family business.  As Aedorn became more popular, Drifa called on Dorma’s help more and more often—asking her to fill in when she fell ill before an important match, or helping when Drifa had gotten double booked for publicity stunts.

At some point Drifa probably started taking Dorma’s time and help for granted, and Dorma was like “okay listen I want to do my own thing for a bit” and Drifa was like “pffft yeah ok but also we’ve got a match on Tuesday” and Dorma was like “k I’m gonna go for a walk cos you’re being a jerk” and decided to go on her own sort of wrestling-free walkabout vacation.

Both sisters are relatively similar personality-wise (by virtue of having actually been the same character up ‘til like four days ago lmao); they’re both loud drunks when they go over their limits and they both do partake in that particular dwarven stereotype (unlike most of my characters, lol).  Drifa’s eyebrow scar came about in a drinking accident, actually, and Dorna had to start plucking part of hers and then draw it on to match once it got added to Aedorn’s look.  Drifa’s the elder sister, though I don’t know either how old they are (probably somewhere between 40-75ish I’d guess, Dwarves are “young” til 50 iirc?) or what the age gap is between them.  I’d assume it’s not that much, since they’re supposed to look very similar.

I’m not sure how successful I was in drawing them—I was very tempted to use the same base drawing for both of them and then make the minor changes, but that also felt like cheating.  Maybe it’s okay if they’re not as close as I originally pictured in my head—it’s not like fantasy wrestling fans have cameras to take photos that they can then analyze to notice that on rare occasions, Aedorn’s earlobes are detached or her eyes are hazel instead of green or her eyebrows are a little lighter or whatever.  But hey, maybe there is one of those crazed fans out there and that’s part of why Dorma left, cos they were getting weird about it and she didn’t necessarily want to be dealing with the fame of being Aedorn all the time? I dunno!

Speaking of Aedorn, she was Aethorn at one point.  According to this random-ass D&D Dwarven dictionary I found on the Forgotten Realms wiki, “ae” is “gold” (checks out), “aetharn” is “gold lust” (yeah okay) and “bedorn” is “disbelief, lies, mistakes, exaggeration, distortion;” I originally was going to try to make a dwarven wrestling name that was equivalent to “Blood Money” but there was no blood on the list; “warped greed” is more or less as close as I could get.  I swapped it from Aethorn to Aedorn just because the dwarven runes (from the same wiki) looked better.  Then I realized that Dorma was “Dorna” at that point and that was awkward, so I swapped her N to an M (which I’d been mistyping constantly earlier anyway) and figure she probably got made fun of when she was a wee lass or something, “yer mother didn’t want ye, that’s why they named ye mistake!” lol).  I wanted to come up with an English/Common version of the name but I’m not super great at coming up with the right kind of words; “Miss Appropriation” is about as close as I’ve gotten and that’s... really not right, lol.  “The Counterfeiter” maybe?  I dunno.  Chances are high none of this will come up in the course of the three hours I’ll be playing this character, so I suppose it doesn’t matter that much, haha.

Marvel 20 Questions

I wasn't tagged, but I saw this on @musette22‘s Tumblr and decided I wanted to play. Thanks! 

1. Favorite solo film? It’s so hard to choose. It would be easier to list my top five. :-) But, I have to go with Thor: Ragnarok, because it is funny and heartwarming and I love it. Plus I have been a sucker for Thor since his first movie. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a really close second, though.

2. Favorite team-up film? The Avengers. It was so cool seeing all the characters we’d watched in the solo movies come together for the first time. Marvel really did the solo movies to team-up movies formula right--didn’t rush it like DC did. The payoff in that first Avengers movie was great. Plus a good villain, high stakes, and a plot that I didn’t have problems with. A good mix of humor to action. Love it. Also, I’m really partial to the AUs where the Avengers all live on their own floors in the tower, and that is the movie that sets that up (even if I’ll forever be sad that they did nothing with it).

3. Favorite female character? There are a lot of BAMF chicks in the MCU, but my absolute favorite is Peggy Carter. She is strong and gorgeous and knows her worth, even a time that is worse that today about allowing women to have that value. I liked her in the first Cap movie, but I loved her even more in the Agent Carter TV series. While I like the Peggy/Steve backstory, I like Peggy better on her own. Darcy Lewis is a really close second favorite--only second because, while I liked her in the Thor movies, it was fic that really fleshed out her character, while Peggy got all that character development on screen. But we’ll see how things go with Wandavision. Maybe Darcy will get the more developed character in cannon that she deserves. (I guess the Netflix shows no longer count for the MCU, huh? Because Jessica Jones was pretty awesome, too.)

4. Favorite male character? Oh my gosh. I love both Thor Odinson and Bucky Barnes SO MUCH--it’s nearly impossible to choose. However, I have to use the rule that I used for favorite female character, and give Thor the number one spot because his character’s awesomeness is fleshed out on screen. While I still think that his first movie could’ve used a bit more middle (more time than just one night on Earth to grow and change into someone who would give his life for others), I’ve loved watching Thor’s character grow and change over the years. He tried so hard to be a Gryffindor, but he’s really a Hufflepuff. While he would’ve been an all right king due to training, he doesn’t have the heart for it, and I think he finally realized that. He is so much more than muscles and a weird accent--he’s loving, supportive, and really smart; he forgives; he’s just an awesome guy. Bucky has that whole tragic redemption arc, which is great, but they really cheated his character out of development on screen after CA:tFA and CA:tWS. Like with Darcy, a lot of his development comes from fic and head cannons. I’m really hopeful for the Falcon & Winter Soldier TV series. Maybe now Bucky will finally get the character development he deserves!

5. Best canon ship? I’m not really tied to many of the cannon ships in the MCU. I liked Tony/Pepper a lot; probably because they got a lot of screen time, and Pepper is another favorite BAMF MCU lady. Scott/Hope is also pretty good. I would’ve said Thor/Jane, except then they broke up. Maybe they will resurge to the top of the list when we get Thor 4.

6. Best non-canon ship? I love so many non-cannon ships for the MCU! I like Stucky, Stony, WinterShock, WinterHawk (but only with the more comic-esque Clint who is deaf and a disaster; not boring family man movie Clint), WinterIron (but only in no power AUs without the Bucky killed Tony’s parents angle), ShieldShock, TaserTricks a bit... Basically any ship with either Bucky or Darcy in it would have a chance, and even though I don’t love cannon Steve all that much, I like a lot of ships with him in fanfic, too. Weirdly, I never read fic about Thor or Peggy--maybe because they are so fleshed out in cannon, I don’t need more from them.

7. Favorite actor? Man, another rough one. I love Chris Hemsworth and Sebastian Stan so much. I think I have to go with Sebastian on this one, though. Chris is great, hot, and I adore him, but Sebastian did so much with a character that had relatively little screen time overall. I mean, Bucky was in five movies, but in a lot of them he was there more for the action than the actual character development (which makes me sad! he deserves more!). But the fact that he took a smaller, supporting character and made him one of my favorites in the whole universe says a lot for Sebastian’s acting. Like, a lot of actors can make you love a character when they are the main character in multiple movies, but how many can do it from the sidelines? (**crossing my fingers for lots of good Bucky in the F&WS show!**)

8. Favorite actress? Gotta go with Hayley Atwell here. The way she played Peggy was masterful. I also really love Kat Dennings, though. Second only to Hayley.

9. Favorite director? Taika Waititi, hands down. He should do all MCU movies from here on out. Prior to him, it was Joss Whedon for his great work on the first Avengers, but Joss let me down with A:AoU.

10. What was the first MCU movie you ever watched? Iron Man. Aside from Spiderman: Homecoming and The Incredible Hulk, I watched all the MCU movies in theater in the order they came out. We are dedicated Marvel fans that way. :-)

11. Which MCU movie have you watched the most? Hmmm... I’m honestly not sure. I’ve never specifically counted viewings. I know the top contenders would be Thor: Ragnarok, Ant Man, The Avengers, Thor, Captain America: the First Avenger, and Iron Man. I have definitely watched every MCU movie except the Spiderman and Hulk solo films more than once, though.

12. Favorite super-suit? I think I’d have to go with the Iron Man suit. I mean, it’s by far the most useful, and it has Jarvis (or Friday) inside. And it lets you fly! That said, if we take it as most attractive suit, then I’d be torn between Steve’s navy and white suit (sans cowl) from the beginning of CA:tWS and Thor’s suit when it bared his arms (the long-sleeved version was weird looking).

13. Favorite weapon? Mjolnir, by far. Even though it creates some weird questions/plot issues, I love the idea of a weapon that only someone with a worthy heart can use. I think my favorite moment in End Game was when they paid out on that bit from AoU and Steve busted out fighting with his shield and Mjolnir. Steve and Thor fighting together with the hammer and the axe was fabulous. I do also like Cap’s shield, even though it’s a weird choice. I’m really looking forward to Thor 4, if the rumors are true and we’re going to get to see Jane use the hammer. That will be excellent!

14. Favorite origin story? Oh, another hard one! I am a sucker for a good redemption story arc, so I think Bucky/Winter Soldier edges in for the win here. Overcoming 70 years of brainwashing and mind wipes for his best friend, struggling to get back to human again, and then trying to make up for some of the wrongs from the past (which I hope is where we’re going in the F&WS show) is excellent. Though, Thor’s journey from spoiled brat to someone who is willing to sacrifice himself for others to king to someone who realizes that he isn’t the best king and is willing to hand the crown to someone else for the good of the people that he loves is a really good one, too. I also like tiny anger-ball Steve taking a risk to become a hero with a good heart. Didn’t necessarily agree with all his choices later, but did like the origin. Solid third.

15. Favorite villain? Definitely Loki. His arc in the first Thor movie is great. And knowing that in the first Avengers movie he was affected by the mind stone adds a great layer. Plus watching him continue to mature and grow until he finally was willing to be there for his brother in Ragnarok. That was a great arc, and the character toes that line of gray morality but redemption that is so compelling to watch. His death was the worst one to me in IW/EG--I really thought he was pulling some other con, and I’ll forever be sad they dropped that thread. I hope that his show is good, and I’ll give it a chance, but I’m still bummed that we’re going back to post-Avengers Loki and losing all that character development from Thor 2 and 3. :-(

16. Favorite fight sequence? Honestly, the action and fighting are probably my least favorite parts of these movies. I know, that’s atypical, lol. Like, they are the less interesting bits I have to put up with to get the character growth I want from my superheroes. Often, the action sequences go on too long. Shorter action sequences would allow them to both keep up momentum and put in more character development, but no one in charge asks me. :-P That said, I like the action sequences best when they show character development, and the best one for that is the highway fight in CA:tWS where Cap and co. fight the Winter Soldier for the first time. No one in the whole movie had challenged Steve that far, but the Winter Soldier truly put him in danger for the first time, and his friends, too. The Winter Soldier was menacing, and then paired with the Bucky reveal at the end. Best action sequence. Though I do also love the Revengers vs. Hela in Ragnarok when Thor finally gets his full lightening powers down and crashes into the battle. He is so OP now, but in an awesome way.

17. Favorite line from any of the films? I love that bit in the first Avengers movie when Thor snags Loki, Tony flies out after him, and Nat tells Steve not go because they are basically gods. I love Steve’s line of, “There’s only one God, Ma’am, and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t dress like that.” That one cracks me up even now that I’ve watched it so many times.

18. Favorite scene from any of the films? Pretty much any scene with Darcy in it is a favorite. Her stuff in the first Thor movie is gold. I also like Bucky and Steve’s goodbye scene at the beginning of CA:tFA.

19. If you could pick an Infinity Stone to keep, which would you choose? Huh... I don’t know that I’d want any of them. I guess, if pressed, I’d choose the Space stone because I think it would let me teleport. The Time stone/time travel seems interesting, but I’d be afraid I’d mess up the timelines.

20. Which Disney Plus MCU series are you most looking forward to? Falcon & Winter Soldier, hands down. Though, when I heard Darcy would be a character, that jumped Wandavision up to second place.

heads up in literally none of my aus is midoriya hisashi a good parent. i mean in canon we know exactly three details about him being his name, his quirk and that he works abroad. that’s it. so, i don’t really like “good parent hisashi”. this au is basically ‘hey what if izuku got a fire quirk from his dad’ combined with my own personal views on fire, and then also deciding ‘wait what if hisashi and endevor did the same shit’. so it’s basically an au where izuku is in the same situation as todoroki.

it’s….kind of complicated now that it’s written down. in my head its p straight forwards?? anyways, basically my view on fire is that it absolutely shouldn’t be demonized as much as it is. because without fire, life couldn’t exist. it’s warmth and life and beauty. i just…think that view of it is perfect for izuku, and i always wanted to try my hand at fire quirk izuku.

also one of my few aus that’s actually gonna have a ship focus?? in that it’s tododeku but honestly knowing me i might end up accidentally dropping that aspect of it like i tend to do a LOT bc of my inability to write crushes (im an aro who’s never had a crush so me writing romance is…awkward at best lol)

the one where hisashi is a villain

i have……admittedly a lot of versions of this au. it’s by far one of my favourites to think about, for several reasons actually, mostly bc of angst but also because the hurt/comfort potential there is incredible.

my most current version of this au though plays with the idea that in the mha society those with ‘villainous’ quirks get discrimated against and pushed so the only chance they do have to survive is to turn to villainy. in this au i play with hisashi and inko’s quirks a little to make them more villainous and easier to discriminate against, for example hisashi can cremate anything he touches into ashes at will, and inko can minorly manipulate the limbs of other people although she’s mainly limited to pulling them towards her or pushing them back.

in this version, izuku is quirkless and still goes through ua determined to change the way that society works and right the wrongs in how it’s set up while also proving that quirkless people aren’t useless. a lot of dadzawa in this one because it is my w e a k n e s s. there’s a few other elements thrown in there, but overall that’s the basic jist of it.

underground gladiator arena kidnap fic

one of my darker aus where a group of villains kidnap kids who took the ua exam to create an “everything goes” fight club that customers can watch and occasionally participate in.

my general idea for this was “the sports festival is pretty brutal when you think about it. it’s almost like everything but killing goes” and then i thought that in a superpowered society there is no way there isn’t any kind of underground fight club where people can go full out w their quirks.

hence this au was born! the kids who’re kidnapped w izuku have been constantly changing over the ladt year or so that i’ve had this idea but rn i decided on having shinsou, kaminari, mina, tokoyami and yaoyorozu w him. the rest would be filled w ocs bc the villains weren’t dumb enough to kidnap all of the heroics students, just a handful.

bearing in mind the kids are all taken a couple days after the entrance exam so they’re not familiar with each other and izuku is the only one familiar w a pro hero and that’s a secret. not to mention he’s only used his quirk once at this point, and he has no access to recovery girl’s quirk so he has to figure smth out IMMEDIATELY or he’s completely fucked.

the one where aizawa is inko’s brother

look if you inspect my aus carefully you’ll see a theme and that theme is i fucking love aizawa. anyways, in this one izuku has a pretty powerful nullification quirk and is trained by aizawa. aizawa and inko have like an eight or ten year age difference, so they weren’t all that close until inko reached out when izuku was eight.

i’ll admit this is one of my lesser developed aus but it’s canon divergent with a focus on izuku hoping to be an underground hero. and due to his quirk and that aspect of his personality, it kind of changes a lot of things??? potentially a short(ish) au if i ever got round to writing it out. maybs about 20k-30k words idk.

(this is mostly born bc i feel like people forget that there’s only a fifteen year age difference between aizawa and izuku for a number of reasons. also bc inko/aizawa….is kind of weird in my mind. definitely not a fan :///)

MUTE TODOROKI

look i fucking love mute aus okay, but when i was trying to apply it to the mha universe i started thinking “holy shit todoroki could definitely be mute” or smth and ever since this au is close to my heart.

basically when poor rei burned lil shouto, she mentally scarred him into mutism. ever since the kettle incident, shouto can’t speak a word. endeavor is told by the doctor that although nothing physically is wrong, shouto is mute. endeavor is a DICK and p much decides he’ll just wait it out for shouto to finally talk bc he’s just being childish (basically he’s ablist and doesn’t let todoroki learn sign. which is bullshit but doesn’t majorly effect him bc he’s homeschooled until high school anyway).

it’s sort of canon divergent but also maybe a complete au??? in that there’s no league of villains. when all might fought afo the first time he succeeded in putting a stop to the villain and killing him. izuku still gets ofa, but he’s not the protag of the story, this time it’s todoroki.

anyways, ua sees that todoroki is mute (which isn’t registered and completely unknown to the general public) and doesn’t know sign language (resorting to notes and/or charades if he needs to communicate something), and decides to investigate that shit.

endeavor eventually gets what he deserves bc the trash bag can go rot in hell, and that’s p much all i got aside from the class realising FAST they need to adopt and love todoroki so there’s a lot of wholesome bonding there.

admittedly this one is one of my most underdeveloped aus but i still love it all the same. basically my take on it bc the whole ‘afo is hisashi’ thing kinda weirds me out considering afo is at least 200 years old. in this au he’s izuku’s grandfather and inko is his daugther who escaped him and lives in hiding.

i haven’t decided whether i want this au to be my take on izuku having afo or if it’s another quirkless izuku au. i haven’t gotten very far into it, all i know is that afo has no emotions and he’s a heartless bastard (me hating the dad for one trope w a passion) so there’s sort of MAJOR angst potential if i decide to go down that route.

gamer au

izuku’s quirk is that his life is a game. that’s….that’s it. if you’re familiar with sword art online, it has a lot of influence from that w/o the characters or plot or pervertedness or incest because what the fuck sao was so bad with all those. still pissed bc outside that it had potential and i think abt that a lot.

anyways, so y’know how in a lot of rpgs there’s the hud w stats and an inventory system and abilities?? well apply that to izuku and he’s p much that. the world “autosaves” whenever he sleeps, but he can’t manually load a save. if he dies he starts over from his last autosave.

bc of his access to abilities and stuff, he has the potential to be powerful bc hey he can basically do magic, but at the same time he just healed his body completely by drinking this drink he made w herbs and shit last night. also he can carry a ludicrous amount of shit that couldn’t possible fit in his backpack but apparently he’s got seventeen cheese wheels in there and room for half the classroom furniture too.

izuku sees the world w a hud which would be annoying but it’s normal for izuku. in fact, he sort of hates watching tv because the hud doesn’t appear on the screen and it’s so weird and bizarre he doesn’t really like it.

i haven’t planned anything but details of the quirk bc it can get waaaay too overpowered too quickly and hhhh i sort of burnt out of different ways this would effect canon, so i didn’t think abt it. but i did figure out that izuku would have so many gaming analogies for his friends and be into like a thousand different games.

the one where uraraka is the protag instead

born when i was complaining about how shitty horikoshi is at writing his female characters i brainstormed this au in a discord server where i overhauled canon w a more badass uraraka. (and she doesn’t even get ofa!!! she’s just badass on her own!!!)

basically bc she’s a lot more confident and determined in this au she influences a lot of her classmates. the other girls are a lot more active in their actions and are more than just the background characters. uraraka’s full strength is explored and i think i planned for her to win the sports festival bc she deserved it.

also inspired by the idea i had of pro hero uraraka kicking a lamp post down on her own strength and using it to put a comet home run on a villain like she did in the battle trial. bc holy shit that’s a fantastic mental image.

basically my “mha girls fucking rule and fuck horikoshi’s shitty writing” au

ah yes, finally we get to my take on the most generic of aus. basically i just wanted todoroki in hufflepuff to piss off endeavor and basically loving it bc he befriends izuku in it. i definitely haven’t developed this au outside of worldbuilding in how i’d combine the two universes whilst fixing both jkr and horikoshi’s bad writing.

i actually wrote a snippet that’s somewhere on my blog that i can’t link to now but you could probs for search it. but this was basically born from me getting angry at people putting the kids in the wrong houses. im a firm believer that izuku fits in nearly every house but hufflepuff and slytherin suits him the most while todoroki is ABSOLUTELY a hufflepuff. i wanted some platonic tododeku bonding so i put izuku in hufflepuff. uraraka is slytherin, iida is gryffindor, and it’d be too messy to list all the kids so i won’t.

but!! what im most happy w in this au is how i incoporate mha stuff into it. like how hagakure isn’t actually invisible she just got permanently hexed by her brother to always be unnoticed so you can never know what she looks like or where she is. tokoyami has a bird head due to a failed attempt at becoming an animagi. its permanent and although he could get it fixed, theres actually a number of wizards w the same thing do there’s a lot of animal like wizards. shinhou comes from a pureblood family thats been known for their dark magic, even though the last four generations haven’t been dark wizards the wizardinv world is convinced he’ll be a dark wizard too but shinsou wants to prove them wrong. amajiki being a metamorphmagus who shifts his limbs into animals when he’s nervous. etc etc. i have too much worldbuilding and no plot lmao.

disney aus galore

one day i thought up abt three different disney aus for the mha universe but my first idea was a little mermaid au for momojirou w momo being the princess and jirou being the mermaid.

except besides the basic premise i p much scrapped the whole movie in that jirou learns sign language to talk to momo and the two play music together. jirou plays piano or w/e whilst momo sings. it’s v gay. theres a ball and they dance and then kiss. i never wrote it out bc i didn’t wanna add conflict in it but never got round to actually writing it lmao.

but i thought up a tododeku tangled au, kiribaku cinderella au, tsuocha princess and the frog au, and a couple others that i didn’t plan out fully. still close to my heart if i ever manage to get round to writing them out. each would probs either be a long shot at 7k-15k words or a short multichapter fic at 25k-30k words.

the Spite™️ fic

the fic where i get pissed at every shitty thing about horikoshi’s writing. izuku gets mad at all might for his views on quirkless people and gets into ua on his first try. izuku rightfully does not take bakugou’s shit and calls him out at every opportunity. bakugou’s actions have repercussions. all might gets punished for almost letting bakugou kill izuku in an exercise.

izuku gets pissed over a lot of shit basically. also at one point he either punts mineta into the sun or loudly and publicly makes the argument that mineta should be expelled from ua including evidence and testimonies from the girls. and he encourages nearly all of them to get better costumes.

i haven’t actually written much abt it but if there’s smth i got pissed @ horikoshi for smth in canon it’d be address in this fic bc oh boy am i never spiteful so it’s kind of theraputic to write even tho i haven’t done it in a while.

Well alrighty then. Though I won’t talk about muses on my other blogs like Neo, my dead Dolphi blog, or my semi active Goji blog. Hmm and I’ll only talk about the most relevant ones, since both Strength and Chariot were created as muses just out of spite.

Black Rock Shooter:  I decided to write her after interacting with @greenxreaper  on my Neo blog. I felt inspired,and so I  made an alt account that I had just lying around into a BRS blog. Like Neo’s blog, it started as single muse, but grew over time. At the start I played Rock, more like I played thisone RWBY oc I had named Noire, but over time I wrote her as a different character from that entirely. The blog was actually really inactive for the first few months, until I finally got motivation and started writing her more. Overtime the blog just grew. Plus I got better at writing due to interacting with @peopleoftheshadows and another BRS blog.. that I don’t interact with anymore.I have a higher muse for her than ever though. Because I can write  Black Rock Shooter however I want and create my weird story arcs and no one can stop me!

Noctis Star Lock and Noctis Morte: These two OCS from the Dream Walker verse were inspired by the game series, Klonoa. Specifically I created them after reading the official but sadly unfinished comic, Klonoa: Dream Traveler of Noctis Sol.  An Idea popped into my head, what if Rock was given the power to travel through dreams?  I also created two characters that originally were just Black Rock Shooter look alikes. Dream Shooter and Nightmare Shooter. (There was also a third character, the queen of dreams, but that’s kinda irrelevant.)  Dream Shooter was benevolent and Nightmare Shooter was evil and wanted to flood the world with nightmares, both the dream world, and the real world. Eventually Dream Shooter/ queen of dreams, became Noctis Star Lock, and the nightmare one became Noctis Morte. Over time, the two were less black and white however. Noctis Star Lock is very apathetic and selfish, and Morte only wants to get revenge on Star Lock for betraying her.  I actually have a four part story about them on my lore blog @blue-fire-eyes-stories ^^  In a way, Noctis Star Lock became the antagonist of that verse, and Noctis Morte, is misunderstood.

Dead Master:  Okay, I really wrote her, just because I wanted to ship her with someone else’s BRS at the start, but also really really had fun writing her in threads with  peopleoftheshadows and others. I just like her character. She used to be the second most popular muse on this blog, and I would love to start writing her some more.

Mato Kuroi: Mato was one I just randomly dumped on the blog one day and people enjoyed her. I had written her in the past on discord threads and really enjoyed writing her. It was also out of spite... again. lol. Because I felt I portrayed her much better than someone else I rped with. It was a discord only rp anyway, but they said theirs was closer to canon, but they portrayed Mato as just super bubbly all the time, and honestly I don’t think that’s the case. Mato is bubbly, sure, but she also has a sadness that she often ignores. She tries to be happy for others and be there for her friends to make them happy, but hides her own pain. Plus after the events of the BRS anime, I feel like she would at least be slightly more jaded, though not too much.

Red Mato: Unhingedsea sent an ask and it became a thing. Originally I had thought about doing multiple endings, red, blue,and true endings, but I might just keep the one ending, because I like it. At first she was super happy and kinda just clueless, then manipulative and smart, now I have her from manipulative and happy, to just unstable.

Red Rock: Just a ball of rage. Worse than Rose. Obviously, since Mato is red,she became red too :P

Yomi Takanashi: Just like Mato, she’s another character I just dumped onto the blog. She was popular, the first few days I rped as her, I just need to do more with her. She’s also very easy to rp as because I relate to her so much..

Black Rose Shooter: So a while back, I had an idea, months before bringing Rose to my blog, called Corrupted Insane Black Rock Shooter... This was going to be an AU where Rock went insane again and purposely hurt others  and even enjoyed emotionally hurting Mato. The name Rose came from another discord rp. It wasn’t my Insane Black Rock Shooter, but it was my Dead Master that came up with the name and I liked it, so I kept it when I brought her to my blog.  Rose was brought into the blog under the premise, of what if Rock and Insane Black Rock Shooter were actually separate? What if Rose wanted to hurt Rock, because Rock had hurt Rose severely without knowing it?  This became the basis for Rose’s back Story, though she only goes by the name of Rose after the post redemption arc. She is by no means a good person. She’s probably the character I have the most lore for, even though it isn’t her blog.  I even have a version of her character named Tsukuyomi or Tsuki, which is just Rose when Mato was three or 4, under the premise that she herself was completely innocent and sentient. Instead of doing my original idea, which was dark.. and had a version of IBRS I didn’t actually like, I made Rose my own and even though she’s still a terrible person, I actually feel for her sometimes, especially when she tries to be good.

ah, unfortunately for everyone i am ALSO A V V V HUGE FAN OF THAT TROPE but uh i only written like one thing for bkdk tho???? it’s call: biological imperative. 

it basically tell the story of katsuki and izuku’s complicated relationship stemming from their childhood that had inadvertently created a psuedo bond b/t them (half bond that hasn’t settle in bc katsuki refuse to let it) bc katsuki is extremely wary of the idea of mates and omegas and basically the entire fucked up alpha-omega concept overall lol bc for katsuki only dumbass believe that omega aren’t the one with the true power in the relationship and being with izuku make him feel so helpless and unfettered and HE CAN’T HAVE THAT :P. but even tho he keep pulling away from izuku, he can’t help being drawn to izuku bc there’s something greater and deeper than just some baser instinct. 

i really enjoy exploring the power and social dynamic in abo esp bc my own personal hc than every omega is a helen of troy of the world and more than one war have started over an omega :PPPPPPPPPP. 

also i guess this is a bad time to mention i have been carrying a bunch of bkdk abo in my head: 

the one where the all first quirk users were all omegas and every children they have afterward have a quirk and are all unusually powerful. fast forward to current timeline where omega are now rare and treasure prize bc of their breeding potential so there are a lot of battle for the rights to mate with an omega. izuku being an omega was betrothed to katsuki at birth and katsuki had spent most of their childhood fighting off potential suitors for izuku’s hand but later turn out izuku is quirkless therefore he lost his potential/use and their engagement was cancelled. than OFA happens to izuku and izuku attend u.a. to become a hero too but this time he got a powerful quirk to back it up and reminds everyone why the first quirk user were only omegas in the first place and they aren’t just broad mare \o/. now katsuki got to fight off an army to claim izuku’s hand once more, not knowing it always been katsuki in the end.  

(not so much as bkdk but tkdkbk) everyone always know that izuku was going to be an omega and ppl expect that katsuki and izuku to bond in the future bc ofc katsuki is an alpha right??? nope turn out he’s just a boring beta and beta can’t bond with omega due to social stigma and view on alpha-omega bond as the most true and pure bond. KATSUKI IS SO ANGRY AT THIS THAT HE DESPITE BEING A BETA HE BIT AND CLAIMED IZUKU ANYWAY. shouto pops up later as an alpha who is interested in the fucked up relationship b/t izuku and katsuki and eventually they form a triad :P. 

the one where they are both omegas and omega can be pair off with any alpha and beta but any same sex pair that isn’t beta/beta are consider taboo (like alpha-alpha). katsuki wonder why he has never show any interest in any alpha let alone a beta but his teeth throbs with the urge to bite izuku as his own. 

the one where omega sit a top of the social hierarchy and alpha are actually the one persecuted bc alphas are just mindless knothead w/ no common sense and too many countries led to ruin by their hand so it’s better to be left to the hand of omegas who can rule with more sense and they can reign in the unruly alphas. this is actually one of my fav version of abo to flip the social role around so izuku is an omega from the royal house and it is expected of him to have many heat partners through is puberty till they can marry him off to a good beta in some other kingdom but izuku doesn’t want to leave his home and has taken a keen interest in the alpha butler/guardian katsuki who has been serving their house for ages and only want katsuki despite their diff in social status. or, really, how izuku is an ambitious omega that wants everything and all including katsuki and how katsuki bring down an entire regime as much to get rid of the suffocating alpha persecution but also bc izuku wanted it lol. it’s basically master/servant au with a political intrude and kingmaker trope thrown around :P. 

set in canon ‘verse and with izuku an alpha who doesn’t fit in the stereotypical alpha box. he’s neither aggressive, territorial, or a stupid knothead rule by his nose and omega katsuki has been circling around izuku since they were children bc other kids often pick on izuku for being so pathetically weak esp a quirkless alpha. alpha is suppose to dominate and be in control but izuku have always felt like he was made wrong bc all he want do is fall to his knees and bare his neck out for katsuki and let katsuki takes control of him. and katsuki is ALSO a stereotypical omega who acts more like an alpha than anything and he gets intense joy bringing alpha to their knees but mostly he wants izuku underneath him and only him. it’s like both of them are stuck in society that tell them how the should be but they said fuck it lol and rather do the opposite bc in every version of them in any universe izuku knows he belong to katsuki.

I believe I was like 14 or 15 (omfg it's been 10 years...).  My best friend and I actually got into it together :)

2) Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer.

Aaaaaah this one is difficult.  I love both for different reasons.  I just recently explained this to a pal, and he freaked out cuz he loved the metaphor so much lol I like to write reader inserts because I feel like a DM of DnD, kinda weaving a story - which is also why I like reading reader inserts.  Because I never reader them and put myself in the Y/N slot, but rather a OC kinda version of myself, like the woman I wish I could be so to speak.  But I also find there are some stories that need to be written as an OC, so I have a love for both forms.

3) What is your favorite genre to write for?

I really like AUs that take characters and put them in totally different situations

4) If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?

any of the stories I wrote about A7X members - yes, those are out there lol I wrote them in middle school.  They are GARBAGE and so laughable

5) When is your preferred time to write?

Middle of the night - when I should be sleeping lol

6) Where do you take your inspiration from?

Music, mainly, whether it be lyrics or the feel of a song

I've fixed errors in stories, and I've considered editing couple of pieces due to severely harsh criticisms , but haven't had time to do so

Unfortunately, Steve.  I just haven't found a groove for him yet though I wish I had!!

Like everything - it was inspired by music lol I was listening to Show Me Love by the band t.A.T.u. when writing the desk scene and it just kinda stuck

13) Do you have any abandoned WIPs?

I don't have any that I've abandoned for good, but I do have a few that I had to put on the back burner because of inspiration that stalled or just flat out writer's block

14) Are there any stories that you’ve written that you’d really love to do a sequel to?

YES.  I'd really like to write sequels to Show Me Love, Never Have I Ever, and Die A Happy Man to name a few.

15) Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently?

Before the Worst.  It didn't cooperate with me, and I'm still not 100% satisfied with it.

16) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?

Oh god, All of them!!!  It's very hard to narrow down, but anyone who has the guts to create and share their work with the world is worthy of admiration.  To be specific though, oh god, uuuummmm @sugardaddytonystark, @myattemptatfanfictioning​, @plumfondler​, & @papi-chulo-bucky, & @emilyevanstan (BUT I LOVE SO MANY MORE, NARROWING DOWN IS SO DAMN HARD).  I'd have to go with these folks in particular because they are all so talented and kind and everything I aspire to be in a writer, honestly.  They just have a way with words and world building that is A1!

17) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it?

Can I say all of them? cuz if so, I'd say all of them. lol. Maybe my Loki fic Light in the Hallway.  I was in a dark place and wrote it as a form of catharsis.

18) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?

people can be cruel, BUT, people can also be so kind it's uncanny.  Learn to look for the light in people and just keep writing what makes you happy.  Writing is not a competition, it's a passion :)

The Bridges of Time.  I get that it's a little off the wall but I just felt an insane need to write it, I wish more people would give it a chance

24) In contrast to 23 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?

A hobbit fanfic I wrote on AO3 - Like Flies and Spiders, probably.  I started it when I was a LOT younger then picked it up again and you can tell that the first several chapters were written by a youngin and it's kinda funny lol

25) Are any of your characters based on real people?

Oh, always.  Natasha and Wanda are based on my irl BFFs in every story I write them.  I literally had a friend tell me to drop a pencil and accidentally suck my professor's dick, so there's that lol

26) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?

OMG  so I just saw this recently, and it literally made me cry: @ok-shuri-buck said "I don't know how I fell in love with you through your writing but I just want you to know it reflects your soul.  I love your soul" I literally WEPT in front of my mother, it was the kindest thing anyone has ever said of my writing and it still makes me smile

27) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten?

as said in response to my 'imagine riding Bucky' drabble, and I quote, "Perfectly good fic ruined by 2nd person POV and that Y/N cop out." But I totally get that some people don't like reader fics, so ah well.  To each their own.

28) Do you share your story ideas with anyone else or do you keep them close to your chest?

I share them with my IRL bff @skrywolf772.  he and I bounce fic ideas back and forth all the time, It's wonderful (Also, he's my basis for sassy Nat BFF just fyi)

29) Do people know you write fan-fiction?

A handful of people do.  Like I said, my two irl BFFS, a girl from school (who I am mutuals with - love ya Lex ;P) and my mom.  Idk if she knows I write fanfiction or not, but she knows I write and post on tumblr

30) What’s you favorite minor character you’ve written?

probably Sam, Tony, or Thor in Never Have I Ever.  I just love writing those little shits as the wackiest teammates

31) What spurs you on during the writing process?

Often when I get the idea for a fic, it's a single sentence that will be later in the plot, so often I find myself writing and building to that specific point.  After that, I have some trouble wrapping things up (which is why I write more multi-shots than full series) but I usually use music to spur me along after I've reached that peak :)

32) What’s your favourite trope to write?

Friends to Lovers. is. mah. SHIT!!

33) Can you remember the first fic you read? What was it about?

Tell us about the setting for the au!

h o l y s h i t thank you anon!!!

okay, okay, so a lil warning bcus this might get text-heavy: the reason this au is so precious to me is bcus it takes place entirely within a universe i have been slowly creating since i was in the third grade. this also means sometimes nobody knows what the fuck i’m talking about. therefore, i will explain if it’s smth i know i made up

but thank you so much omg!!! i’mma throw this under a cut -- it’s pretty long

so the basis for the au is, again, my own personal universe. it... doesn’t have a name, but i’m not gonna get into the deep, deep parts, just what’s relevant to the storyline(s) i have

most of what i’m calling the Main Story (just sort of when everyone’s together + cool shit will ideally go down) takes place on an island (in a loose sense -- it’s kind of like Iceland or Greenland where they’re huge but not a continent) called Silver Sands. Silver Sands is named after, you guessed it, the silver sand that lines its beaches, all of which comes from eroded weapons of old and dead gods and monsters. it’s rumored some of Fate’s old loom (Fate being the Mother of All and the oldest living god) forms the heart of the island. Silver Sands, being such a hotspot of magical and divine energy, naturally attracts magic users and creatures as well as those dedicated to the gods!! at first it was only magic beings, then magic beasts, then spirits, and so on

over time, more and more people were attracted to the islands. it’s location and energy allow for several biomes to erupt and thrive, going inwards from the beaches to form deserts, grasslands, sprawling forests, even a big swamp that covers the western side rumored to have an entrance to hell in it!! (it does have an entrance to hell in it; a death god stands guard bcus no you don’t need to go to Hell the Lord Hell is busy). people immigrated over time, mingling with the existing magic creatures and spirits. lucretia’s a younger spirit, but she actually got to watch the tail end of that go down.

and when the populations started booming, some people went, “Hey, you know what we could do here? Teach.” so they did! There are five main schools in Silver Sands: the four cardinal schools and Central Academy, which if you’ve seen my other posts I usually just call “Central” (there’s actually more to the name than “Central Academy” but I forget what it is off the top of my head)

Central is where a large chunk of the story kicks off since Barry lives/studies/teaches there, Merle is a preacher who also gives lectures, Davenport is an advanced professor and researcher, and Lucretia is buddy-buddy with the Headmistress (haven’t decided how buddy-buddy lol). Central is like a city that calls itself a single school, with countless buildings, resources, parks, temples, apartments, houses, and attractions littered around the area, with the main building (which is huge just on its own -- think like, the White House except a skyscraper or four all kinda clustered together) which is built right over the heart of the island. it’s got... a shit ton of stuff in it. it’s the academic center, so it’s mostly classrooms, labs, teacher offices, smaller shrines, and resources (libraries, practice rooms, etc) but there’s other stuff scattered about. some people say an old dragon family has their hoard stashed somewhere inside.

Central in general is considered the greatest magic school in the world, which is supported by the fact that many stay there even after “finishing” their education in order to continue their studies further (Barry did this -- he advanced pretty quickly and mostly stays there to have a safe place to practice his new magic ideas and teach students about his ideas despite not letting them hire him) (too much paperwork). the Headmistress is a proud advocate for furthering magical study and a demigod who literally does not have to worry about money (it comes easy when ur gma’s the Mother of All and your mom is her oldest daughter) so she just... pays for all of it. she’s spoken with barry directly, probably, when he was arguing with the council to have the study of necromancy unbanned and low-class uses of it made legal again (she was with him lol)

the au uses Central as the main base and explores outwards from there, to places like Lucretia’s forest, the reaper realm, p o s s i b l y the nahvudan homeland (which is where ango’s from!), etc.

the reaper realm is the second most important area since that’s where kravitz lives and where taako + lup hang out a lot, but if i’ll hold off on describing all of that unless i get another ask : P there’s also the faerie realms, which are all pockets connected by magic tunnels, but that’s another can of worms i’ll get into with prompting or when i talk/write about lup + taako’s backstory

time-wise, bcus i just remembered time is part of setting too, it mirrors a sort of... not-quite-modern time in the mortal world -- things like smartphones exist, but it’s not necessarily real world 2018 even in the mortal realm (yep, there’s some mirroring/coexisting realm stuff going on pffft). the “mainland” (where Silver Sands is, as opposed to the Sky Cities, Hell, reaper realm, etc) has access to or versions of most technology we have, albeit differently powered.

the reaper realm actually has quite a bit too, now that i think about it, though it’s not consistent throughout the realm bcus of the way reapers tend to bring the technology of their time period in and adapt it to suit their needs. like, one reaper named rosalina is content with flip phones and e-readers, bcus she reads a lot and only needs to be occasionally contacted, despite being from the 1700′s, but evan tends to stay up-to-date despite being from the earlier 14th century originally bcus she has to keep up with a lot

What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?

oh god i commiserate with casper on this one cause daisy is supposed to be super witty and super sharp, which i never feel like i live up to. smart and witty characters are really only as smart as witty as the person writing them and i know this is the wrong question to say this but like her i push myself really hard and rarely give myself enough credit so no matter how i write daisy’s dialogue i always feel like it could have been better, funnier, more concise, more poetic, and just more of it, cause she, like nick, never fucking shuts up. 

most of the time though, when i go back and read old stuff i realize that it actually was pretty good (if i do say so myself) so i know a lot of the time my impression of her dialogue being lackluster has more to do with her/my impossible expectations for my own abilities… daisy’s only as hard on herself as i am hard on myself writing her. its an oroburos of perfectionism 

re: drawing her, the fact that i choose a real life face-claim so i can never quite get her face right without references. her eyes are so far apart you guys

 How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?

in ye olde h*rry p*tter au, she became somewhat of a (non racist lol) second coming of voldemort in the pursuit of power, glory and recognition, because i’ve come to terms with her being a bit of a mary sue and also because it was the logical conclusion of her character in that au, a relentless pursuit of something that was never quite enough for her own personal standards which made her aimless and wrathful. there was a lot less genocide lol for obvious reasons, but she did murder a bunch of people who challenged her and lighted the match that eventually led to the human world knowing about the wizarding world. what a way to go down in history. through this all she let go of nick because she saw her emotional attachment to him as a weakness, but when it came between proving herself and killing him she ended up saving his life instead at the cost of all of her power and took out her following in the processes. i know technically you can’t bring people back to life in the HP universe but again 1) mary sue, and 2) it really showed the size and scope of her power and the magnitude of her sacrifice, and i really loved the idea of adding onto the h*rry p*tter themes of love and that love is the most powerful force, but also that love washes away sins, that even when you’ve done horrible things you’re still worthy of love and love can save you. 

after she saves nick though she goes to azkaban for 15 years and then she’s in house arrest i think for another 10, because the magic jury goes soft on her given that she no longer has any power, the magical media was an absolute sucker for that kind of love story, and also because the magical word is stupid and i didnt want her to spend the rest of her life in jail. she spends most of those 25 years trying to make amends with nick, who eventually forgives her. she also never quite adapts properly to living without magic

after that she just travels the world with nick and writes and writes and writes, including thousands of stories but most importantly an incredibly popular autobiography

SORRY THAT GOT SO LONG 

i have a vague idea of what i want her to do in WSC but like, daisy is greater than life, she’s a historical figure, a religious icon, a myth and a messiah, the pursuit of worldwide recognition and power is SUCH a huge part of her that it’s going to feel so weird and… incomplete, if she doesn’t at least attempt some kind of massive, universal-stakes type of feat in this universe

i actually don’t want to give too many details because of spoilers, but my number one priority right now is giving her a purpose so she’s not so aimless, and that purpose is figuring out where she’s from and who she really is. disney pixar much? more likely than you think. and also hopefully pushing her towards chaotic neutral, or even, gasp, good? (unlikely). 

If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

i’m having a hard time with this one for some reason but i’m going to forego speech patterns and say that 

1) up until WSC daisy’s life had been an exercise in how much it would actually suck to be OP in a world where no one quite lives up to your level (she sees nick as an equal in terms of wits and depth and humanity, but it had always been an understanding between them that she had power and he didn’t. not in a threatening way, of course, just as something that is), so she is always bored and that boredom makes her difficult and petty and annoying and cruel and dissatisfied and self-destructive. therefore, coming to WSC has done wonders for her personality (lmao) because she’s finally among people who could rise up to her level, because everyone’s as weird as she’s always been and she isn’t alone, and most importantly because now she’s rarely bored. it’s actually quite hard to make her hate your kid because her fascination is always gonna triumph over her momentary dislike or annoyance, and she’s always a tiny bit in a manic state when she interacts with your kids (see: aud, reagan, moire, gabe) because they’re just so fucking interesting

2) layers. like an onion. there’s so many layers. she’s so fucking convoluted. i’ve talked about this before here and this is already so long so i don’t wanna get into it, but the crux of the idea is that there’s always more daisy the deeper you dig, and most of the time she’s trying to make herself as mythical and tortuously complex as she can make herself be because she’s both trying to protect the soft parts of her where people can hurt her, and because she’s begging people to see through her bullshit and reach those parts, anyway.

What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC? 

i actually haven’t been writing her a lot lately cause my spoons are low, but the most recent thing that comes to mind is how much more into clea (shout out!) she is than i originally thought/intended lmao. it’s a weird combo of being desperate for friendship and connections, and also never having been around girl-aligned people she isn’t related to and therefore having this idealized version of hanging out with her ~girlfriends~ which involves a lot of lesbianism like scantily clad sleepovers and kissing each other to practice for “””boys.”” 

and of course there’s a more sincere layer of just being constantly fascinated and confused by how different clea is from her and trying to parse that out. clea and daisy balance each other our so well and i think they allow each other to be more like the way they want to be but are too embarrassed to say out loud. clea definitely lets daisy be more of the teenager that daisy is too proud to let herself be, so even when she acts prim and prissy and greater-than-life around clea, they still do a wonderful job of keeping her grounded. also daisy is hopelessly attracted to the whole 4d thing because she’s always been the only person around who’s not quite right, and there’s a lot of intimacy in that recognition, a weird convoluted self-love in seeing and celebrating in someone else what you’ve always struggled with yourself

What is your favorite fact about your OC?

just like w/ misha, don’t quote me on this because i love her! so much! so it’s impossible to pick just one but i just love… all her imperfections, not to be a massive sap (girl ur amazing… just the way you are…) but i love the things that make her weird and random and vulnerable and human, i like that she craves connections but has no fucking clue how to make friends, i love her weird obsession with unicorns, i love how convoluted her vent is because she thinks too fast to write things down coherently, i love writing her when her magic fucks up or when she’s so upset she cries or being awkward because there’s cute people around her or being comfortable enough to make silly jokes and just in general i love when she’s uncool and clumsy and a teenager. i’m gay!

What advice would you give me on creating OC's?(I'm asking because you're really talented and seem to give very good help)

OOC: Aw, thank you nonny! ^_^  I’ll try to help as much as possible with this post generally, but if you have any more specific questions feel free to send them in :)  Also, buckle up, because this’ll be a long post :P

For all intents and purposes, I’m going to restrict this to OC’s in the Descendants-verse, because I’m guessing you want to rp as a Descendant.  So step 1 with your OC is figuring out who they are. 

Disclaimer: I do not claim to the the end all and be all of role playing or character-creation; this is just a process that I usually follow for my OCs/fanfics. If your process is different, that’s fine.  Let’s just all respect each other. :)  Continued under the cut:

1.  Are they a villain or Auradon kid?

       So this question seems simple at the outset…but it’s not.  The whole message of the “Descendants” series is that we are similar to our parents, but don’t have to make the same mistakes.  So with that in mind, don’t just pick your favorite Disney hero or villain, because your OC shouldn’t be JUST like them.  My favorite Disney villain is actually Maleficent (I mean, she curses a whole kingdom because she doesn’t get invited to a party- I just love her drama lol), but aside from the fact we’ve already got Maleficent’s descendant in Mal, the writers already kind of covered any issues that you could explore there.  Like, Maleficent clearly has an ego, thirst of power, and more or less major fear of missing out- and Mal addresses all of those in her character (she shares her mom’s ego, but doesn’t want the power, and doesn’t seem to care about missing out).  You need to pick someone who hasn’t had their background/emotions explored and fixate on it.  With Cora, I originally wanted Queen Grimhilde, because there are SO many issues that could be explored with the Evil Queen’s child- power, preoccupation with beauty, familial relationships (blood versus step), but because Evie’s an only child, I couldn’t make an OC there.  I chose the Queen of Hearts as my OC’s parent because honestly…a completely bloodthirsty serial killer totally off her rocker?  There’s a TON of skeletons in that family closet, and nothing makes for better writing (I write books/fanfiction too, so disclaimer, that’s where most of my experience is coming from) than skeletons.   For what it’s worth, my favorite “human” Disney hero is Esmeralda and princess is Sleeping Beauty.  There’s a ton you can explore with Esmeralda’s child:  racism, classism, “magic,” and as for Sleeping Beauty, you can go anywhere and EVERYWHERE with her child (even though we already have Audrey): fears of abandonment, pressure to find true love, etc.  Basically, figure out whether a villain or hero has more interesting skeletons to you.  That’s your parent.

2.  How do they feel about being an Auradonian/villain kid?

Do they wholeheartedly embrace being a VK, like Uma, or dream of moving to Auradon like Evie?  Do they believe that the Auradonian way is the only right way, like Audrey, or do they think the villains might have something worth teaching, like Lonnie and/or Ben?  More importantly, WHY do they feel this way?  This will lead you to a core character trait.  With Cora, I chose the fact that she wants to get off the isle because she feels like her only path to power lies in Auradon- and she wants power because she feels ruling Wonderland is her birthright.   BUT she doesn’t want to kill people for minor infractions.  So in that, Cora’s actually accepting of her heritage as a VK, but wants to build on it and realizes the only way to do so is to become an Auradon kid- or at least try to fit in there for a bit.  This motivation leads to a core character trait, which in Cora’s case is ambition.  Also figuring out a character’s feelings as to how they recognize their Auradonian/VK heritage can help lead you to a basic background for them. 

3.  Make a mini backstory for your OC.

One of the super fun things that I’ve realized about roleplaying is that your character constantly gets to evolve through their interactions.  HOWEVER, your character also has to have some sort of backstory, otherwise you’re working from a place of nowhere.  It’s kind of like life- we’ve all got childhoods and then change as we become teenagers and adults and interact with others outside our family unit.  Stick to this backstory for most iterations of your character; obviously you can change this for an AU, but keeping some basic traits of a backstory universal helps give your character an actual form as opposed to being a blank slate.  For example, the universal backstory I have for Cora (the bare bones thing that stays the same for her no matter what universe she’s in/who I roleplay with) is that she is the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, completely believes the throne of Wonderland belongs to her and her alone, and that she has “slips” into insanity- and these slips almost always terrify her, yet also entice her.  Keeping these things consistent throughout verses and role plays lets him/her be a character instead of just a Mary Sue.

4.  Do not make your character 100% perfect and/or a self-insert.

This is the kiss of death for characters.  Your character has to have weaknesses.  As tempting as it is to make your character superpowered and awesome at EVERYTHING, if you do this, your character becomes completely uninteresting.  As an audience, there’s no reason to root for the character because they have nothing to overcome; as a roleplayer/writer, there’s no reason to use the character because there is nowhere to drive a plot.  There’s literally nothing to write about.  This isn’t to say that your character can’t have talents- they should!  And they should be unique and special!  But if they’re just wonderful at EVERYTHING, again, you’ve got nothing to write about.  To give an example for Cora, she’s extremely insecure about not having magic, very impatient, and can hold grudges like nobody’s business.  However, she also is amazing at throwing daggers.  As a writer, this gives me a ton of places to go with her because her weaknesses/strengths give me a place of emotion to work from.  If Cora was just wonderful…I’d have zip to write about.  The other thing is (as tempting as this is), do not make the character a self-insert.  Your character can share some traits with you, but they shouldn’t be you.  Not only is that not roleplaying, but it also starts to get really muddied because any emotion from roleplaying comes over into real life (for example, if a character in an interaction says something mean about your OC, and your OC is a self-insert for you, you’re going to feel awful about yourself.  Now, did the other mun try to intentionally hurt you?  No.  But you still don’t feel good, right?).  Having a Mary Sue also tends to result in the character having no written weaknesses because as people, we don’t want to have any weaknesses/admit to our own (which is why I put these two bits of advice together).  Let your character be flawed and talented and different, and also give you some creative space to work.

5.  Pick a face claim for your character before you start writing, and don’t change it midway through role play (if you’re going to change it, do so early on). 

This sounds obvious, but in my experience, it’s easier to write for a character if you know what they look like.  Make sure you like your face claim!  If you suddenly decide you don’t like them and change the face claim, it makes them almost less realistic- a real person cannot change their entire body.  So your character’s face claim should stay the same for you to be able to write them that way.

6.  Make a playlist for your character.  Music really helps inspire me when I write (both fanfiction and roleplay).  I like to make playlists not necessarily based on music the OC would like, but on music that describes the OC/you like/pumps you up.   I have a playlist for Cora.   Some of the music includes “Ways to be Wicked” (from D2), “Castle” (by Halsey), “Paint it Black” (cover by Hidden Citizens), and a nightcore version of “Pretty Little Psycho.” Just go nuts with music and have a ball.

7. Make sure your character is someone you would like roleplaying with/reading about.

The best way to make a character is to have them be someone YOU would enjoy reading about!  If you find a character boring, you won’t want to write for them, and it will show.  Pretend you are making a story for you!  That’s how you make the best characters.

8.  Have fun!

Again, sounds obvious, but seriously, have fun.  Your character and you will be happier. :)

Bonus:  Making face claims for the parents (if they are cartoon).
