A guide to confidence, beauty, & self love 🪞🩰🦢🍒💌

How I made glamour magick efficient for me and why working with the goddess Aphrodite shifted my self concept + help me connect to the divine feminine 🕊

First let's do a back story on my relationship with my matron 🌸:

My spiritual awakening happened when I was 17 years old after experiencing the loss of a loved one and coping with past trauma. I went into my adolescence with fear, agony, and poor self esteem. I was very much so a tomboy as a teenager (to this day I still have masculine qualities that I am now proud of and balanced it with my feminine side) but I was so out of touch with what being a "girl" was. I felt really self conscious about not being "woman" enough and had a complicated view on my gender (since I realized I was nonbinary at 14). I became interested in the occult since I grew up in a spiritual household (crystals, manifestation, etc) but never really got to engage with things like tarot or witchcraft because it was considered taboo. I had a reading done one day and I was told that Aphrodite wanted to work with me as my deity. My teenage self was confused by this because I thought - "The goddess of beauty and love wanted to work with me? Well that can't be right." I was expecting something more dark or cool like Hades or Hermes or whatever because that was just my personal style since I dressed very alternatively. I was nervous, but also intrigued. As I begun to pray to her and started doing spellwork - I felt safe, I felt loved, it was like a mother watching over me. I started learning how to do makeup for my ethnic features and became more educated about fashion and what it means to really be a true feminist. I learned to say fuck the binary system and made my own definition of not what just being a "woman" is but also what being "feminine" meant to me, period. You can be whatever you want to be and be beautiful regardless of what your appearance is like. Some days I want to wear snapbacks and sneakers, other times I wanna wear high heels with a flattering dress. I do what makes me feel comfortable and that's nobody's business but mine. Society made us believe that being sensitive, caring, or intuitive - the traits of the divine feminine (which we have in us all) as bad when it's not. There's strength in being soft and delicate. Be gentle towards yourself, my loves.

Embrace your shadow self to manifest your dream life ✨️:

You know what people will never tell you or admit to you on social media? Is that you can be self conscious and still be confident at the same time. Confidence is just being comfortable with yourself and knowing despite what you've been through or are feeling in the moment, it should not hold you back from achieving your fullest potential. Like Megan Thee Stallion said "Bad bitches have bad days too" And it's true! I have my good days and then I have my bad days, but even when I'm doubting or losing my faith, I always get back up by keep going. Why? It's because if I stop then I'm not living. I'm not being grateful for the life I still have while there are people out there battling severe illnesses and don't have much time left. Nobody wants to be candid and only want to portray themselves as perfect, when nobody is. It's a damaging narrative to think you have to be popping on social media and always staying positive. I don't know why being vulnerable is such a stigma these days. Everyone is scared of being hurt, sure, but there is so much power in knowing what you makes you happy and being able to voice what your wants/needs are. You get to live for yourself and not what others want you to be. Not to mention the importance of having the power and ability to set the boundaries your inner child probably never got to have?! I'm so tired of people spreading the belief of that you shouldn't talk about mental health, trauma, or personal fears because it makes you seem "weak" or "easy prey". That is the same tactics abusers use to make their victims stay hushed and makes them not able to stand up for themselves. That way of thinking is victim blaming! If you as a person, feel brave enough to discuss what the fuck is going on in your mind that does not make you a weakling, that makes you strong as hell. They are the weak ones for taking advantage of people who were already suffering. It's time to forgive yourself for your past mistakes and acknowledge what happened, but do not let it control you. You don't have to let go or get over it, it's okay if it's still a wound for you but you can choose to make it better by creating a better future by working with your higher self. Think about who you want to be, how you want to appear, what career you aspire to have, etc. Either write it down, visualize, or make a vision board. Release the old version of you and thank them for helping you survive.

I have been reading the book Mirror Work by Louise Hay and it entails about how the negative things people said or the difficult experiences we had dealt with in our lifetime gets stored in our subconscious mind. When we make jokes that are self depreciating or engage in self degrading behavior, it harms us even more, preventing us from maturing or loving ourselves. Doing shadow work is uncomfortable for everyone but it is a must to process the patterns in your life and learn as to why you become the person you are today. Being aware of your triggers and what makes you tick. Can make you more emotionally intelligent and be able to have a healthier conversation as well as creating lasting positive connections.

Don't just say it, do it! 11 ways to actually practice self care:

Making a goal and actually putting the effort in can be tough for some individuals, especially for those diagnosed with depression. That's why it's important to be patient with yourself and understand that healing is a journey, not a race! A youtuber I have been enjoying and watching lately is the critically acclaimed, thewizardliz: An Iranian woman who gives advice on confidence, discipline, and more! A video that I watched of hers recently was called and bluntly titled: "How to stop being lazy & pathetic". In most of liz's videos she is someone who is tough but is also tender. She explains that when we are procrastinating it's because we are thinking of just the end goal, which scares us and makes us overthink about what to do or how to do it. When really, we can just take small, simple steps at a time to reach towards what we wish to accomplish, so that way it will feel less intimidating. If you have a essay that's due for example, try to write a few sentences each day, or think about how good it would feel if you were to get a good grade on your paper. Think of it this way - Would you rather slack and be upset you failed? Or would you rather prevent that from happening so you can be proud of what you achieved? Figure out what motivates you as a person and write it down so you can always be reminded of the confident being you wish to become.

Journaling: This is such a crucial hobby that I believe everyone should have. Writing down your thoughts or feelings helps not only increases your intelligence and brain health, but it also helps navigate your feelings better when you are facing a problem. You are able to reflect inward and discover the different parts of your psyche that you never knew you had.

Art: Divine feminine energy embodies the source of creation and life. The same way people with wombs give birth to children, an artist's project can be their beautiful baby. Find what type of art form brings you peace and allows you to express yourself (poetry, songwriting, dancing, painting, woodcarving, etc).

Exercise: I know this is something that some people struggle with (me included 💀) and when people hear that it's like "Ugh, I don't wanna work out! It's too hard!" but just hear me out okay? We have to exercise so our internal organs can stay healthy. When we don't take care of ourselves by not at least taking 15 minutes out of our day by walking, exercising, or cardio, when there is 24 hours in a day... That is a major neglect to yourself. Just remember that it is a privilege that you still have the ability to move, jump, lift, run, squat, and even more. When there are people who suffer from chronic pain and disabilities that are still making sure to take care of their physical health because they have no other choice. When you think about how you're too "lazy" and you can't do it because of your "laziness", think of those people! Cherish the health that you have before it's too late. You can start by stretching, going for walks, or watching workout videos for beginners on YouTube.

Build a schedule: Having a routine is so important because it helps reduce stress and organizes the task that we have to do throughout our day. Make a sleep schedule for yourself as well. Going to bed late until 3 am in the morning or waking up too early is unsafe and makes you less alert when you are out in the world. So please be careful! Try to at least get 6 hours of sleep a day. Drinking tea, taking a warm bath, or using essential oils can help you fall asleep if you don't like using melatonin.

Cleanliness & Hygiene: It's unfortunate that I have to say this but some people were not taught by their parents on how to be clean. Or how cishet men feel that being hygienic is "gay". That's absurd! Everyone should have a clean house, clean body, and a good hygiene routine. There is no excuse for that. Even when I was depressed I still would get up to brush my teeth or wash my hair because I knew that if I were to ever go too long without taking care of my hygiene I'd have to deal with damaging my teeth, hair, or skin. Everything has a cause and effect when you neglect doing self care and that could also be apart of the reason why you feel so down about your looks is due to that lack of poor hygiene. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant and you don’t need to do a 10 step skincare routine all the time. You can buy beauty products for cheap at off price retail stores and can get combs, toothbrushes, etc, at the dollar store. All you gotta do is wash your face and shower daily (scrub in between your ass cheeks, please and thank you 💀), brush your teeth at least 3 or more times a day, moisturize with lotions, use a sunscreen (cus nobody got time for skin cancer), apply deodorant, and that's literally it. You can use toners, serums, and skin treatments if you feel like it but that’s not neccessary unless you have specific concerns (acne, wrinkles, etc).

Personal finance 💵: As a Capricorn ♑️, there is nothing more important to me than having my own money. Knowing how to budget and being responsible with your funds is so crucial. You can manifest prosperity and be wealthy, but if you don't know what to do with a million dollars, how could you ever receive it? It is so attractive when someone is wise with their money. I took elective classes in high school for commercial art, marketing, and personal finance so that way I could learn to how to be independent as an adult and not have to "hustle" or live the struggle life. Always take care of your household bills (utilities, repairs, gas for the car, etc.) first and then leave a certain amount for yourself for when you want to have fun, go shopping, etc. Learn about how to make an investment, as well as stocks, because that is another way that you can make a lot of money (and no I don't mean Crypto or NFTs 😭)

Education is key 📚: READ HEAUXS REEEEAD 👓 Make those sapiosexuals quiver with your big sexy brain 🧠. I just feel like in general we need to be knowledgeable about our history and *Jaden Smith voice* the political state of the world right now. Being dismissive and ignorant is a major turn off. You have to be able to know how to communicate in certain settings or talk about certain subjects, or else you're gonna just look and sound dumb. I don't care if you like to read about insects or flowers, just find a topic that interests you.

Boundaries: A simple way to start implementing self care into your daily routine is by being able to say "Yes." Or "No." I know for women it is hard to assert themselves and say no especially when there is a grimy ass man tryna flirt with you (ayoooo shawty 🤓), but for your own protection you gotta do it. When people know you are not stern and you are not able to defend yourself, they take advantage of that. It makes you an easy target. Let's say for a example, you have a overbearing parent that constantly drains and takes from your energy. This parent doesn't respect you and makes you feel bad about yourself because you let them. When they ask you for something, you can just say; "Thank you but I will not be doing that. It would be an inconvenience for me right now because I have to focus on ___" or "I would prefer not to do that because I have to do ___ this week and it's very important". Even if it's not anything actually important, still say no. Another example is if you have a friend that's toxic and is not elevating you in any type of way (mentally, emotionally, or finacially). Then tell them that and cut them off. You are not obligated to stay around anyone who brings you down. Here is a list of ways to set boundaries professionally. Also learn to stop over apologizing here is what you can do instead. Margot Robbie learned to say "Thank you" instead of saying "sorry" because of Barbie.

Meditation 🧘🏽‍♀️: A useful skill in embracing your thoughts, whether they are positive or negative, to help in finding your inner zen. Meditation was something that was tricky for me at first. Most people say to "empty your mind and be still" when meditating and for someone with ADHD, I was like... "Umm, this is boring 💀???" but overtime I tried it a few times again and have grown to appreciate it! I learned that meditation was actually quite helpful for me, especially when I felt burdened with too many tasks, or was dealing racing thoughts. It just really helped me calm down, especially when I was feeling overwhelmed (for people who experience sensory overloads I highly recommend!). I no longer feel ashamed or fearful of when a intrusive thought crosses my mind. I just simply let that thought pass through and go on about my day. The average young adult has over 6,000 thoughts a day, so why would I give something so meaningless power? I am in control of myself and what I react to. For this, it will allow you to do the same.

Spend time with a loved one: I'm sure we all have someone who we consider our comfort person or a special pet that makes us feel calm. Humans are animals, sometimes we need that social interaction to stay sane during troubling times. Make a phone call, text, or plan to meet up with a friend or family member this week. Maybe even step out of your comfort zone and ask an acquaintance out for lunch.

Be brave: Remember what I said about stepping out of your comfort zone? That's right. It's time to stop living a life of regrets and live a life of excitement. I want you to think about something you've been really wanting to do lately but haven't pursued it yet because of fear, doubt, or limiting beliefs. Take a deep breath and release it to the universe, your spirit guides, or any deity that you worship. Maybe there is a person you have a crush that you have been wanting to ask out lately or have been wanting to dye your hair a new color but were afraid of how it would turn out. Whatever it is, just have courage to go after what you want for once. For being brave is just about taking a leap of faith, even when you are scared.

How to awaken your inner goddess ✨️:

Loving yourself shouldn't be a chore, it should be a ritual baby 😌! Now for my beginner witches or practioners in closed practices. I know it can be intimidating to start doing deity work. That's why you have to take things slow and go at your own pace. I always recommend starting with doing a cleansing (burning incense, spraying florida water, etc) or a protection spell before doing any other kind of magick. Even though yes, I do worship Aphrodite, it is not neccessary for people to only go to her for a "glow up". There are sooooo many deities who are also gods or goddesses of love, beauty, etc. Naturally, a deity will show you signs that they wish to work with you, so makw sure to be on the look out for that!

How to talk your deity:

Create an altar for them or a sacred space.

Cleanse the area to avoid interacting with trickster spirits.

Place offerings on the table (make sure to look up what offerings they like!).

Light a candle or burn incense for them.

Write them a letter or pray. You can ask them for help with your specific needs or just talk to them about your day or how you are currently feeling.

BE CONSISTENT! Deities are not one of your little friends, they are gods/goddesses. Show them respect by praying, including them in spellwork, and giving them offerings frequently (they are understanding if you cannot give them food or drinks all the time though if you cannot afford it).

101 on Glamour Magick:

The days of the week are connected to the planets.

Friday is a good day for casting love and beauty spells since it's ruler is Venus. While on Monday you can cast spells for healing & enhancing psychic powers, since it's ruler is the Moon. Thursday's ruler is Jupiter so you can cast spells for money and prosperity.

Buy a mirror that is for your special use only (If someone ends up accidently using it it's okay nothing bad will happen to them). Spray it with a window cleaner and wipe it down counter clockwise, say what your intention is for the mirror as you clean it. You can buy any kind of mirror you like (compact mirror, hand held mirror, desktop mirror, etc).

You can use your mirror for scrying or seeing into the future (divination).

When doing your mirror work, look into your eyes, and affirm to yourself. It can be anything you wish to say. Just let it flow naturally. It might feel uncomfortable at first but as you continue to practice it you will feel more confident about it.

Depending on your hair color it can represent the elements.

Your hair texture can symbolize what power you possess: Coily hair grows upward and rises towards the sun. When using their awareness, they are highly observant and courageous. Coily hair has the fire element. Curly hair breaks hexes and spiritually protects the mind. Due to it's volume and resemblance to a cloud, it has the air element. People with wavy hair are intuitive, affectionate, and sensitive, their element is water. Straight hair is the most connected to the earth. Powder enhances your spell & adds a touch of good luck.

good night, or whatever time of day it is for you 😅 i was never rly into the “traitor/evil ace” theories but book 7 has got me thinking; everyone who’s asleep has something that bothers them and so there dream is a simple solution to that, as an example epel being insecure about not feeling masculine so in his dream he’s big and buff. But I can’t think of any motivations like that for ace? So I wonder if maybe the game has intentionally not revealed personal details as a buildup for this book and we’ll find out something new abt him in his dream. The only others I could think of that don’t seem like they want to change anything are Jade and Floyd but I could be wrong.

I never bought the traitor Ace theories either; he is genuinely friends with Yuu, Deuce, and Grim and does not have any obvious malicious intent toward them. (Why would he make the tedious trip back to Sage’s Island over the winter break to respond to Yuu’s SOS message if he didn’t actually value them? And, mind you, this is during a break he was very looking forward to—so much so that he was willing to make a deal with Azul to take the easy way out to pass final exams).

If he “betrays” us at all, I definitely think it would be in a small way. Like maybe he makes a selfish decision that the rest of the group don’t agree with (such as throwing himself right at OB Malleus). This would be similar to how he is consistently the voice of dissent against powerful figures such as Riddle or Malleus.

As for what’s “bothering” Ace, I believe we’ve already seen two big potential culprits: Yuu going back to their world and insecurities about not having developed his UM yet.

The former is more vague, but it comes up early in book 7; when Grim and Deuce realize that they may not be able to see Yuu again once they return to their original world, Ace cheerily dismisses the idea and tells them they’re not even sure if this will work. It could be read like he was deflecting here, as if he’s in denial himself and is using cheer to tell others what he’s telling himself to cope with the situation. Bro would never outright admit that his true feelings because he’s cheeky like that 💀

The latter option is implied much earlier in the main story, all the way back in book 5. Ace has been needling Deuce the whole book about how he’s such a slow learner and how Deuce will never keep up with him. Then at the end of book 5, Ace has a quick throwaway line in which he expresses shock that Deuce got his UM before he did. We have yet to follow up on this point since book 6 had Adeuce knocked out cold and book 7 scarcely features them. If Ace’s coping mechanisms are anything like what his lines in book 7 imply, then Ace has not talked about the upsetting things and instead kept them to himself. Personally, I think this one is a solid concept that wouldn’t seem entirely out of left field, especially given that book 7 is making a show out of having every student use their at least UM once. There is perfect set-up for Ace to come into his own here.

I think they’ll at least find something really convenient yet superficial for the other characters; after all, we pretty much got that with Rook. Maybe Floyd has the freedom to so whatever he wants without people getting on his case and Jade is free to live in the mountains among the mushrooms 😂

EHEHEHE personally i think she’s genderfluid and uses he/she/they pronouns…….I think he was kind of an uncracked egg up until the trials though. like, he’s been in survival mode for so long that he’s never had the time or luxury to really think about himself or his identity….i think he’s had a lot of different disguises over his career though, and those personas are either male or female depending on what the situation calls for so he’s not a stranger to dressing femininely either.

Ⓜ️ On the topic of who is a transman and who is transmasc, the HCs flip-flop in my mind. I don't have a preference either way, but I am partial for Trans!Pickles and Trans!Toki. However, non-binary Toki stays on my mind as well, so TransMasc!Toki is also real. I highly recommend Dkyeklok/Dragklok by Dichromanticdyke for a more in depth view on their gender expressions and identities. I love all HCs about their different gender expressions and identities, so I'm down for anything.

Ⓜ️ I don't think they would be "out" in the traditional sense, but they aren't hiding it. They get laid regularly, so fans and groupies know that they don't have the standard package but, they're billionaires. They can choose whatever package they want for the night. So no one bats an eye.

Ⓜ️ From the very first episode, we see Skwisgaar being quite angry with being called a lady. I can definitely see Skwisgaar being the most sensitive about his transition, with Murderface right next to him as the most violent about his transition.

Ⓜ️ Toki's cod piece from "Murdering Outside the Box" was an intentional purchase and he was just showing off his new strap to the guys.

Ⓜ️ Someone once said that Dethklok doctors and engineers would absolutely be able to create a dick for Murderface and I stand by that 100%.

Ⓜ️ You know those right-wing bullshit posts about "I can tell a real woman from a transwoman just by looking at her face." and they have two women side by side, and the one that has sharper features gets labeled a guy, even though they are a cis woman? But some posts actually flip it, where they call a woman who they think is cis the "biological" woman when in reality they are in fact trans? That scenario but with Nathan.

Ⓜ️ Nathan is every transmasc/transman dream transition. His pictures are in multiple Pinterest inspo transmasc boards. Nathan couldn't give a shit about it.

Ⓜ️ Toki was treated like a girl by his parents in the traditional sense, so he did a lot of house work and was pressured to get married and have children. This was along side his regular daily chores. Toki transitioned via the help of Runke AKA he gave him face paint and a beer. Toki officially started transitioning once he left home.

Okay so I'm going to try to do this without getting into Grad-Level 5D Queer Theory Media Criticism, but I also fully realize that in doing that, a lot of this is going to sound very much like I'm saying "Source: Just Trust Me Bro".

(anon i am SO sorry that you happen to be the first person to directly adress me about gender in MGS)

I also wanna be straight up front here and say that I'm not trying to imply that Ocelot is anything other than a guy, he's just also a guy who's playing a million roles (this is important) and lying to damn near everyone, including himself. He has some of the worst identity issues I've ever seen in a character, and that comes to a head in 4 where he literally isn't even *Ocelot* until the final moments of his life. So yes, for the sake of not writing War and Peace, I'm going to assume Ocelot is "just a guy" and come at this from a pure queer theory/media analysis standpoint, not a headcanon one.

So first it's really important to point out the order in which we see Ocelot through the series. In the timeline, the last time we see Ocelot before V is 3 (or PO which I haven't played due to its placement in canon-limbo, but Ocelot looks basically the same). So we see him go from A to B here.

I am going to say something potentially controversial: even before saw V ocelot, I thought 3 Ocelot looked like he was wearing drag *queen* makeup. I don't know whether it's intentional, or an attempt to circumvent the lower poly models and lower definition textures of the PS2, but the first image looks like someone who is going for a highly exaggerated, feminine cheek contour. Here's a few drag queens who, imo, do a very similar contour look:

Whether the color filter or the texturing of the PS2 or something else, the MGS3 version of Ocelot also has a look of mascara and frosted lipgloss (frosted lips being much more popular at the time of MGS3's original release than today, but alas).

So from that I was already very much primed to look for femininity in Ocelot's whole vibe. It was actually kind of jarring how much more rugged he is in V than in any of the previous games, to the extent that it sent up alarm bells in my head that something was going on.

I don't remember the moment that I went "hey, wait a minute," but it was certainly pretty early on. As someone who's been on tumblr a hella long time and remembers when we used to swap passing tips, the specific combination of facial features remind me of a very specific genre of "ftm makeup tutorials" that were also pretty contemporarily popular on tumblr. A very quick summary being mascara on the eyelashes and specific peach fuzz to give the impression of a squarer jaw and having more facial hair, as well as specific contouring to give a "masculine cheekbone." Most of these tips basically came directly from drag king makeup.

Gonna include some drag kings as well, some things to notice include the tendency towards using stubble as contouring and vice versa, the shaping of cheek contouring, and the tendency to accentuate mustache and sideburns.

I'm pretty bad at wording descriptions of hair and makeup so you'll have to forgive me for not going ham on explaining the similarities bc now we actually get to the interesting part which is: so fucking what? If this is true, if you take my word for it, what does it say about the text? If I want to make this argument to someone else, what can I say that will convince them that, even if it's not *intentional,* it's a valid and meaningful view of his character?

Like, you can make a character based on anything you want, but why does it matter whether Ocelot is based on drag either direction?

Ocelot's "drag"iness is multipurpose. One: he's queer. Like, I grant that he never comes out and says "I love 'Big "Naked 'John' Snake" Boss'" but we get a hell of a lot more confirmation that he's gay than we get straight confirmation for a lot of presumed-straight characters. I feel comfortable saying he's canon queer.

Two: it's a visual metaphor for being a double/triple agent. While he's literally performing several roles (KGB/GRU/CIA, or MSF/Real BB/US, or US/Patriots/BB, or anything in between), he's also visually playing two (or more) gender roles, a feminine man, a mannish woman, something neither or in-between. The implication of drag specifically is pretending to be something that he isn't (which he literally always is, holy shit, again, does he even know who he realiy is?).

And before anyone says "Well, if it's so important to his character, why did they wait until 3 to start doing it?" They didn't!!

This is THE most classically masculine that Ocelot ever looks. But there's still precious polygons invested into giving him long hair and a flowing coat. Working with sprites and low-poly models means having to very carefully select traits that you want to display on your character, and Ocelot's go into making him a cringefail cowboy.

The fact that he's a cowboy in itself is also pretty important to the whole gender/sexuality situation. I mean, Brokeback Mountain might not have been out yet, but the male-to-female ratio in the west meant a lot of men cozied up together on the frontier. Hell, hankey code comes from cowboy culture, with men wearing certain colors to announce who would take the "man" or "woman" role while square dancing.

I could go a lot into gender and how it works on a social/societal level in general and why that matters, but OOPS I have been writing this for a WHILE.

I was actually going to go a lot more into queer theory and gender in MGS in general but ngl, I could write a whole doctoral thesis on gender and how different characters perform or subvert gender. Because holy shit when you start peeling back the very thin macho facade of Kojima's work to do a feminist reading of it, boy howdy do you get. A whole lot to talk about. (ask me about death stranding sometime i dare you)

Basically what I'm trying to get across is that Ocelot has a lot of roles that he's playing and NOT playing, and more than a few of those are gender roles, which is very much visually symbolic of his character.

I am so sorry anon I have been thinking about him nonstop for a full year </3 I hope at least the first part of this answered your question about what features I see that scream drag to me.

Non-Binary Vox headcannons because it's Pride Month and I am ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!

Like I've said before, in my headcannon Vox is AMAB non-binary and is okay with basically any pronouns/gendered terms

That being said he isn't really a fan of it/its just because(I am projecting this headcannon is entirely me projecting) he already has some w e i r d feelings about basically being an object, w/ the TV head and all, and finds them dehumanizing

It took them awhile to get comfortable with using femme-adjacent terms because, despite genuinely liking them, the toxic masculinity of a repressed queer person from the 50s could probably power an entire city block-(assuming homophobia still exists in the Hellaverse? I think I read somewhere that it doesn't but still)

Also the misogyny. I know very little about the 50s, but from what I DO know, misogyny was running fucking RAMPANT back then

That being said, the only person that Vox still doesn't allow to use femme-adjacent terms on them is Val, because Val is. Himself. And makes it really fucking weird-

Also hopping on a hc trend I've seen a couple times- Vox's demon form is sexless, which is part of what really got him thinking about his gender in the first place

Like they had never really considered they could be anything but a man before, but the lack of any real defining masculine features besides their voice caused some really conflicting feelings-

Honestly I think Vox probably has a LOT of really conflicting feelings abt her demon form in general but that's kinda off topic

The reason they had never considered being anything but a man is because they had never actually had the words to describe the feeling of not being a man OR a woman before, and found it easier to just dismiss any thoughts along those lines as insecurities(something they already have a plethora of) & lean harder into their masculinity to cope

But then he died, and all the features he was using as a safety net got stripped away, forcing him to confront all the Weird Gender Feelings

Except not really because they just ended up pushing them down for several more decades lmfao

She generally prefers presenting more masculine because it's what he's the most used to + it's good for brand consistency, but she's DEFINITELY experimented with more femme presentation before

Vox's appearance is very dependant on how they want others to percieve them rather then what they actually want to wear at any given moment. Anything they leave the house wearing is specifically calculated to keep up their image, so that kind of experimenting is just limited to the comfort of their own home.

Aaaaaaaand that's all I got for now. This headcannon is very special to me(because I am projecting. This is, at it's core, me projecting. The only parts that aren't projecting are the bits that are reliant on the cultural context Vox comes from and them being AMAB-), so I'll probably talk about it again. Eventually. But for now these are the thoughts I've actually managed to put into words lmao

So sorry for the long wait friends!! Life has been a little tough for me, but while I still have motivation I will try to get as many of my requests done as possible. So as requested, a Lance x Non Binary Reader!!

Perfect To Me

Y/n walked through the space mall, looking for anyone they recognized. Shiro had decided everyone needed a break from saving the galaxy, even if just for a few hours. Which provoked Lance and Pidge to suggest going to the space mall again, and seeing as no one disagreed, except for Keith of course, Shiro agreed, which brought us to now.

Deciding to head over to the food court, Y/n turned to head in the direction of the food court when they heard a familiar voice. Stopping they listened to the voice, realizing it was Lance's voice Y/n turned towards where his voice came from, smiling widely they walked in that direction. Rounding the corner Y/n could finally see Lance, about to shout out to him they froze.

Lance was flirting with a very feminine looking alien, beautiful lavender skin with neon purple hair to compliment her skin, she was just overall breath taking, the perfect definition of femininity. Y/n's smile instantly dropped as they watched the interaction, they couldn't help but look down to examine their own self.

They weren't to feminine but also not to masculine, you could say Y/n was a perfect mix. With h/l and h/c hair, s/c skin, and a androgynous outfit Y/n couldn't help but tear up. They didn't notice the two in front of them had stopped talking, only looking up when Lance called out to them.

"Y/n?" Lance called out, Y/n looked up at him, tears in their eyes as they turned around, running away from the scene leaving Lance to call out for them in shock. Finding an isolated hallway away from the crowd, Y/n walked into it, leaning against the wall they cried silently, a few soft sobs and whimpers escaping every now and then.

"Y/n!! Y/n where are you?!" They heard Lance call out, freezing as they heard the concern in Lance's voice. Y/n buried their face in their hands, not wanting Lance to see them like this they listened to Lance's hurried footsteps coming closer to where they were.

Finally Lance's footsteps stopped, Y/n looked over towards the entrance of the hallway only to quickly look away when they saw Lance standing there. "Y/n there you are! why did you run away..." Lance's voice faded as he got closer, clearly seeing Y/n's distressed features He couldn't help but feel guilty knowing he was the one who caused them to feel like this. Stepping closer Lance crouched down, trying to meet Y/n's gaze. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad. Look at me, please?" Lance whispered, placing his hand on their check gently, guiding Y/n's face towards his to meet his soft gaze.

Y/n took in a shaky breath when they saw the guilt and worry on Lance's face, they couldn't help but feel bad as more tears fell down their s/c checks. Lance gently wiped their tears away, slowly rubbing their check with his thumb he looked into their eyes, tilting his head to the side slightly.

"I know it's probably a stupid question but, what's wrong my love?" Lance asked gently, watching as Y/n looked away shamefully "I just don't feel like I'm good enough for you.." Y/n whispered, pulling away from Lance's gentle touch. Lance stared at Y/n in shock before pulling them into a tight embrace, holding them against his body tightly Lance asked "What made you think that?! I know I flirt with other people sometimes, okay a lot of the time, but you're the only one for me Y/n."

Y/n weakly tried to push Lance off, but to no success Lance's grip didn't budge. Y/n slowly gave up, clinging onto Lance they explained shakily "She was so much prettier than me, I know how much you like girls and I know I don't really look like a girl and I'm sorry." Y/n sobbed quietly, gripping onto the fabric of Lance's jacket.

Lance was frozen, he didn't expect to make his love feel so little about themselves, he never intended for this to happen. "Y/n please look at me." Lance whispered, pulling back far enough to look at Y/n, tears forming in his own eyes "You don't have anything to be sorry about, if anything I should be the one apologizing for making you feel like this. You are perfect to me, you don't need to be more feminine for me to like you more, because I already love everything about you."

Lance said gently, cupping both of Y/n's checks in his hands he closed his eyes, leaning his forehead against Y/n's forehead. Y/n closed their own eyes, listening to his every word "You're so different from all the girls I've flirted with, that's what made me fall in love with you. You're so uniquely you and I love it, I love you." Lanced whispered opening his eyes and pulling back to look at Y/n.

Y/n opened their eyes to look at Lance, their heart swelling with relief, love, and joy as they rested their hands on top of his "Do you really mean that?" Y/n asked, a small smile on their face as their eyes searched Lance's own eyes. "I mean it with my whole heart, I'm sorry again, for making you feel so horrible."

Lance apologized. leaning in to press a gentle kiss to Y/n's lips. Y/n froze before melting into the kiss, and they couldn't help but smile into the kiss, when they felt Lance smile. Pulling away slowly, they both stared at each other before bursting into laughter.

Lance stood up, bringing Y/n up with him as he wrapped his arms around their waist hugging them close to him. "How about we go get some food? It'll be my treat I promise." Lance suggested to which Y/n nodded to "Sure, just try and promise me you won't flirt with anyone." Y/n said to which Lance responded with "The only person I'm gonna be flirting with is you baby."

Lance flirted, laughing when Y/n lightly punched his shoulder hiding their reddening face behind their hand. He kissed their forehead, pulling their hands away from their face gently "Don't hide that cute face that I love." Lance said, pressing a loving kiss to their lips.

Y/n sighed happily once Lance pulled away, a loving look on their face as they gazed at Lance. Lance grabbed Y/n's hand, pulling them to the direction of the food court "Come on love, we're going on a date." Lace announced proudly, giving Y/n a checky grin as they walked hand in hand, and Y/n could only laugh lovingly as they allowed Lance to drag them away.

recent doodles (in between losing our shit in overcooked so we don't actually lose it)

random bulshit incoming

Pyrhhus

context: we have what we call our own "fanon pyrrhus" based on the idea that he is "an achilles without a patroclus". we play this super random game where we make a story, leave blanks for characters, then randomize. the storyteller improvises depending on these, and what happened was... the demon lord hector was being attacked by pyrrhus, took one look and said "yk what, i'll adopt you. i'm done being a demon lord (because the party sucked so hard he didn't think it was worth it). let's go back to my wife and kid."

and for the first time pyrrhus felt genuine love and care and went from the snarling boy (bottom right) to the cutie on the left. and in our succeeding games he has dissociative identity disorder as a running gag. he turns feral when he feels threatened (words said, things seen, etc.) but generally he's a really sweet guy especially when he has granny (thetis), but a father figure whether isolated or not is essential lest he's just feral.

in one story, his father threw him into the dungeon (yes it's achilles) because he didn't want the child. so little pyrrhus had to eat monsters to survive. his grandfather peleus turns out to be the leader of an orc gang hanging out in there so at least he has a sweet side, but they don't live together because pyrrhus is rebellious and defensive with his autonomy and capability. also, this one plot definitely wasn't a crack rework of dungeon meshi lol-

because i can't get him right orz. the "looks like heracles" thing was because he resembled my image of heracles before i tried to salvage his hair. i couldn't erase anything bc we did not have an eraser lmao. i think this will finally work, but i just have to tuck that stray lock of hair away from his face next time. also, i'll attempt facial hair again but in smaller amounts (i put stubble on him in the next pic). i'm just incapable of drawing more "masculine" features rn but i'll practice at some point... 💀

that's achilles below patroclus. the dark left eye was an accident, but honestly it *would* be interesting if he had one pitch black iris from his mother and the other green is from wherever the fuck he got it. i took the headband thing from his hades design too hahaha (idk my ancient greek culture okay)

also, yes, they do have matching ear piercings. i might try to digitalize these again later on when i'm in the mood.

i have to learn how to cartoonize stubble oops

also, curly/wavy hair is so fun to draw with these simple shapes, huh : 0 i'm the type of person to draw hair with fine strands except when i'm deliberately aiming for that anime style (i just want to learn how to color like them help).

i was going to yap about the stories we've done so far but i realized maybe i should turn that into an entire new post. or maybe draw stuff for them 🤣

also, like DnD this game would probably be fun with a lot of people. you could do this for any fandom too so that's the best part of it.

hii a few days ago (i think) you mentioned in the tags of one of the asks that you have some thoughts regarding the themes of bsd characters being pretty 👀👀 could you elaborate on that?

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING. I have very strong opinions on where skk and sskk place on the thematical prettiness scale so here you go. The fun part is that I am a radical beauty relativist which makes any judgement on appearance ultimately meaningless– because there's not such thing as universal beauty to me, only time and space susceptible beauty standards. Additionally, I don't think there's any significant distinction in their depictions, because Harukawa's art style is very beautiful and elegant and such applies to virtually every character with no notable difference. But like that's the whole point isn't it!! Because it's not about Chuuya being handsome or Dazai being prettier than Akutagawa per sé, as much as what those things represent in terms of symbolism in a story. Here's my personal headcanons (with the very much needed disclaimer that I feel attracted to men once every three months at best, so it really is all about the narrative and plot value their physical appearances hold more than like. actual valuations of their beauty):

Dazai is distinctively, remarkably beautiful. I mean, that part is pretty much canon, isn't it? He really is that kind of charming, charismatic presence that would make people turn back to look at him when crossing the street. But his beauty has some sort of distance and elusiveness to it– his features are classical and very conventionally beautiful in a way that makes him vaguely impersonal. Most importantly, his beauty is vastly intimidating. He is beautiful in a way that feels distant, out of reach, that makes people subconsciously uncomfortable. That only adds to his charisma (and having an easy game to manipulate people), as people will be immediately bewitched when someone as ethereal looking as Dazai shows the slightest sign of interest in them. He definitely looks older than he is.

Chuuya is a completely different deal! He's just as beautiful as Dazai, yet in a substantially different way. He's handsome due to a certain feeling of naturalness and unconstraint he has to him. He has that real and specific beauty of someone who's comfortable in their own skin, which is something genuinely pleasant to witness. His appearance is handsome and cool, but in such an effortless way that vastly adds to his appeal; he exudes confidence and freshness, he's passionate and lively and just someone to bask in the presence of. He can come off as intimidating, too, but to a slightly lesser extent than Dazai and in a way he's way more in control of, able to make people feel at ease if he wants to. Ultimately, to make a silly example, I fear Chuuya would have quite a bit of suitors (that he's only half aware of), while Dazai regretfully comes off too scary for most people.

(And I feel like someone's going to think “it shows that Op hasn't read Stormbringer 🙄🙄” and like. That much is true and irrefutable ahah. But I also like to think Chuuya's story was a gradual journey into accepting himself and feel comfortable in his body. I am a strong happy ending Chuuya supporter ///// )

Atsushi is beautiful in a very peculiar and unique way. He's the kind who, at first sight, one wouldn't find remarkably attractive at all, all his beauty being covered up by raggedness and a neglected appearance, and he wouldn't be spared a second look. And yet when that second look is spared, one would suddenly realize he's got bewitching, glistening eyes, a certain masculine pronunciation to his face that results very attractive, a toned figure, a stunning smile. And his beauty is the furthest that can be from Dazai's classical lineaments: it's unusual, and wild, but still strikingly gorgeus. The truest diamond in the rough. Atsushi's completely oblivious to it, btw– how could it be any differently with him! Moreover, it would be quite fitting if Atsushi's beauty was, too, one of the many contributing factors that trigger Akutagawa's feeling of minority.

Akutagawa isn't beautiful. This is the only take actively sustained by canon elements (besides from maybe Dazai being beautiful, but to a way lesser extent), and the canon judgement of his apparence is definitely not a flattering one: “a faint smile curled Akutagawa’s lips, slightly exposing the inside of his mouth, which was as red as blood” “Akutagawa’s smirk was colder than a snake’s, his breath more repulsive than a demon’s”. His skin is grey, and his eyes are bloodshot, and he coughs blood, and he definitely stinks– he's messy and rabid and unkept. Before everything else stands the fact that he has this sickly impression to him which makes him vaguely repulsive to whoever stumbles across him. But that's exactly everything Akutagawa is, isn't it!! His whole thing is being fundamentally unable to be loved– both because of things he controls and things he can't control, his unpleasant physical appearance falling in the second category. That's what I mean when I say characters' physical appearance is a fun tool to convey their core themes! The tragedy of Akutagawa's character being someone who constantly strives for being loved and yet is doomed by destiny to result repulsive to everyone nicely translates in him having unpleasant looks that make him ugly and unlovable.

And as little extra, pretending for a moment that I don't have Beast bias:

Beast Akutagawa being quite handsome. Not at Dazai or Chuuya's level, but people would casually consider him a beautiful man. Compared to his canon counterpart, he's got the same fire in his eyes, yet it's paired with a slightly healthier, less repulsive built, greater confidence in his stance, and a more - although far from being tidy - clean appearance, all contributing to make him fairly attractive. Besides, bonus prettiness points for the coolest outfit in the entirety of bsd only second to the Dark Era Dazai one in my very humble opinion...

Beast Atsushi is gorgeus in a way that makes him look almost noble, yet feels unsettlingly plastic-like: artificial, stiff, imposed. I've talked before about how his being kept and tidy is actually just another expression of the grip that Dazai has on his persona and psyche, who wraps, controls and manipulates every aspect of his being including his very appearance. He's got the same stunning strong lineaments, yet they're schooled to look far more distant and intimidating. I wonder if the kind eyes would stay the same... A/N: Y’all asked for it. I’m doing Nick first. I’ll do Jonathan next.

“You look pretty tonight.” Nick whispered as he watched Y/N slip under the covers. He did look pretty. Despite his masculine stature, he was so damn pretty.

Y/N chuckled. “Pretty?” He questioned. His eyes met Nick’s and he realized he was being serious. Not just teasing him, trying to make him feel girly. His amused expression turned to one of softness. “Thank you.”

“I feel like I still have a crush on you,” Nick said. It was true. Nick felt like a schoolboy who would stumble over his words when he was around Y/N.

“Yeah?” Y/N asked, turning off the bedside lamp.

“Can I hold you?” The question was random and it brought a silence. Y/N hadn’t expected it. Usually he was the one holding Nick, especially recently considering everything that had happened recently. Y/N’s never really been held. He looked at Nick through the darkness, his eyes adjusting and the moonlight just barely illuminating the man’s features.

At the silence, Nick begins to feel as though he screwed up asking that. He never took Y/N for having a fragile masculinity, but maybe he was pushing it. All thoughts left when he heard the quiet “yes” leave Y/N’s lips.

Nick smiles and he wraps his arms around the man, bringing him as close as possible. Y/N accepted it and laid on top of Nick, putting his face in the crook of Nick’s neck. A comfortable silence engulfs them as Nick’s cold hand slips under Y/N’s shirt.

The coldness on Y/N’s back made him shiver. However, Nick’s hand quickly warmed up as he continued to touch Y/N. His touch is gentle, his fingers barely grazing over the warm skin. It’s such a soothing touch. A touch that Nick often used to get the man asleep. It’s one that’s been absent in the past couple of months. Y/N was happy it was back. Moments like these were Y/N’s favorite. He loved the touch, the feel. It tickled, but that was part of the fun.

Y/N was completely focused on Nick’s hand, feeling his fingers spread out across the small of his back. He began thinking of Nick himself and his happiness was quickly replaced with realization. Everything was coming together. Nick’s been acting off. He started drinking more for one. He’s also been more loving. Hugging more, kissing more, complementing more. Sex has been on hold for the past couple of weeks. He’s been giving Y/N a bunch of gifts.

Y/N looked over at the face of flowers on the nightstand and suddenly, tears welled up in his eyes as he realized what Nick was planning to do. He put his face back in Nick’s shoulder and took a deep breath.

Nick failed to notice the revelation. He continued to rub Y/N’s back, thinking Y/N was drifting to sleep. He kissed Y/N on the head.

Y/N shifted a little, trying to get closer. He silently cried into Nick’s shoulder, dampening his shirt. He was scared this would be the last time he would get touched like this. His mind raced as he kissed Nick’s shoulder.

After a while, it became too much. Y/N got off of Nick and rolled over. The sniffle from the man was what gave it away.

“Are you crying?” Nick wondered with concern. Had he done something wrong.

“No.” Y/N responded, but Nick knew better.

His hand gently touched Y/N’s bare back again. “Do you want me to stop?”

“No.”

hey so. i may be making a really big decision regarding mirrors. and in the end im not taking anyone's opinions into account because it is my story and my characters and i can literally do whatever i want b/c im not getting paid for it.

but like what if i changed all the characters into women LOL

im ngl if i hadnt already come so far in mirrors i would be more matter-of-fact about changing the main characters' genders. i seriously think that if i had started mirrors at the point im at right now, the whole cast would be women instead. at the time i created these ocs i was heavily projecting transmascness/masculinity onto my ocs and thats why theyre all guys. but now im like. damn i wish they were all women actually. nothing changes about their character or personality its just that theyre now women. thats it. because im realizing there is an EXTREME SURPLUS of not just male dragon ball ocs but male characters in media in general? and ive LITERALLY been part of the problem despite always being like "oh i wish there were more women characters :( i wish i could make more women :(" like im realizing i can just Do That. if i want my ocs to be women now i can just Make Them Women. i have that power as the owner of these characters

so im thinkin like. idk man. i could honestly just make a page or even a little panel that says "hey just a heads up theyre all women now" and then from then on i draw them as women LMFAO like i dont even give a fuck anymore

in regards to the ethics of me "genderbending" my ocs which is what this seems like (although i think genderbending is in the realm of an au, whereas this would be Canon Changes. but still), ive decided i dont give a shit anymore <3 i am trans myself and ive stopped really seeing genderbends as inherently problematic and offensive. yeah theres ways and reasons for genderbending that people do that i definitely dont like (namely the "genderbending to sexualize" and "genderbending to make the pairing straight" things) but i think genderbending as a whole is like...fine i guess. like i dont care man

again, in the end this is a decision for Me and what i want for myself and my ocs and story. literally nothing will change except the gender of the characters lol (which WILL include some physical features such as calabris not having a goatee anymore and now a lot of them have bigger boobs i guess). but honestly if u dont like it then feel free to read another comic i guess idk. i'll be disappointed but ur free to do what u want

Sorry for the short break, I'm working on a longer more detailed story right now rather than churning these imagines out, but I really wanted to do this one. Let me know if you'd be interested in more trans reader stories in the future, maybe solo members and more in depth? If i got some things wrong I apologize, I myself am not familiar with the trans experience so I am willing to learn from those who do experience dysphoria, all I ask for is your patience as I am still learning! <3

Namjoon

Namjoon would take you out shopping to find some clothes that would make you feel better. He would point out outfits and accessories that he thinks would look good on you, making sure to point out features on you that he loves and using masculine descriptive words such as "handsome," "dashing" and "fly." He makes sure to subtly use more gendered language when talking with you to make you feel affirmed and he makes sure you feel comfortable. He picks out clothes for both of you, and loves the idea of matching suits and clothes.

"I feel like this would accentuate your jawline and really bring out your eyes. What do you think? I think you'd look really handsome."

Jin

Jin would ask you if you'd rather have a stay in day or go out, depending on if you are comfortable enough. Either way, he loves to dress in clothing that is generalized as more feminine and bright, so he would dress in clothes that are cute. pink and colorful to help you with your confidence. He would remind you that while clothing has no gender, the person wearing them defines them. He would cook food for you and remind you how grateful he is to have such a handsome boyfriend.

"If you're wearing them, then they're boy's clothes. Now get over here and enjoy this food I made just for my handsome man."

Yoongi

Yoongi would sit down and listen to you, asking questions here and there about your feelings and specifically help you figure out why you think some ways and help you realize how your brain makes you feel like that. He would try to understand from your point of view, and based on your information he would do his best to accommodate to make you feel better. You two would have a lazy day of healing and watch movies and order takeout, wear comfier clothes and cuddle. He would reassure you that he sees you as a man and that he loves you, no matter how your brain tries to tell you otherwise. He may not understand why you feel so dysphoric because he honestly sees you as his perfect boyfriend and has a difficult time imagining you any differently, but he is there for you as a form of comfort and a listening ear.

"I don't see you that way. I see you as the man you are, stronger than most because of what you've gone through, no questions asked. Here, come sit with me and help warm me up, we can watch movies. Are you comfortable?"

Hoseok

Hobi would definitely want to make you feel loved. He would compliment your outfit and tell you how handsome you look in your clothes, how it doesn't matter what haters say or think and how he loves you as the man you are. He would emphasize parts of your personality and mannerisms that he loves and he would get you off your feet and try to cheer you up by dancing and being silly. He gives the absolute best comfort hugs and you can't help but feel a little better after seeing his bright smile.

"Awww, my cutie boy, come dance with me! I want to see your handsome smile!"

Jimin

Jimin would have trouble understanding where you are coming from, since his view on gender is very grey and he himself likes to play with gender and representation in clothing, however he would do his best in making you feel more comfortable. Jimin's confidence in himself and his gender while presenting more feminine and wearing gender neutral clothes in general makes you more confident in yourself, as well as the way he looks up to you and admires you. He is clingy and subby, making you feel warm inside knowing that he relies on you and sees you as protection, which in a way, helps you with your dysphoria. Overall, he adores you and you find him adorable, enough to distract your thoughts.

"Y/N, what do you think, does this color suit me? I want to look pretty for my man."

Taehyung

Tae tries his best to distract you, keeping you busy by taking you out on a drive with him. He lets you choose your favorite music that he knows all the words to also so you can sing together as you drive, and the two of you talk about how you feel a bit. He doesn't say things to help 'convince' you of your masculinity but rather showers you in compliments that directly battle your insecurities, making you feel a little bit better. He would stop by a cafe and go inside to order your drink for you, then drive you both home where he would offer you to go through his closet and try on anything you like. He has no issues at all sharing clothes, in fact, he thinks its cute when you wear his things, calling you "handsome" and telling you it suits you more than him.

"I'll have a hot chocolate, and he will have a chai latte please. Ah, careful Y/N, don't get it on your suit, it looks so good on you without any stains!"

Jungkook

Jungkook cocks his head in slight confusion whenever you talk about your insecurities and dysphoria to him, simply because he forgets all the time that you are trans. He simply sees you as you, his amazing boyfriend, and treats you the same as any other man he is close to, except for the fact that he loves you. He compliments your build all the time, loving going to workout together and build up your body confidence. Anytime you ask him with teary eyes if you look like a girl, he looks at you with his famous confused face, telling you he simply cannot even imagine you as anything other than what you truly are. He gives amazing comforting hugs.

"Huh? Y/N, I'm at a loss here. I'm looking, and no matter what, all I see is my fantastic, handsome boyfriend. I wish you could see yourself through my eyes. *sigh* My baby boy is too hard on himself."
