Doing the Writer Bingo thing, considering myself tagged by @theartofblossoming because they said so
I got bingo twice!
Tumblr media
Gonna tag @new-eyes-extra-colors @bokatan and @nukanaptime if yall haven't already done it - blank template is under the cut along with me talking about my answers and writing - feel free to ignore it if you want lol.
Tumblr media
I don't actually have any of my fics public rn because I hid all of my old ones (they were HP and thats blech now), but I had... 13 fics, including a completed multichapter amongst a bunch of oneshots and abandoned starters, lol.
So I have had a Fanfiction.net account, but I never posted fic on there. I just read fic there. I also read fic on a bunch of other old sites that don't exist anymore and haven't for many years, but didn't have profiles on them. I don't even remember their names, I know some were primarily non-english sites that just happened to have some of their fics translated - some of the best fics honestly. I've only ever posted on Ao3 because it wasn't until I was basically done with highschool that I felt confident enough to write publicly.
Never had a wattpad phase. Never even read fics on it and I honestly click away if fic links lead there. I just don't like how it's set up.
My most popular oneshots were my two hard E rated smut fics, which rivaled by multi-chapter fic for a while but got overtaken by it while I wasn't looking, hah.
Some of the earliest writing I ever did was roleplay. I joined a Warrior Cats roleplay guild on the Neopets forum as a wee child. I didn't even know what Warriors was when I joined, I just wanted to play with cats. It introduced me to the series though, which became a big part of my life with reading and art. The roleplaying was fun for a bit but... well there were issues but I guess we were all kids. Didn't help that they were all American so I had to do weird hours to join events. I don't do a lot of roleplay overall, I've dipped my toes in again here and there but never anything dedicated. It's rather intimidating honestly.
I've never beta read anything or had a beta. I work entirely alone and prefer it that way. I just do it all myself and quadruple check everything and then freak out after posting and check again and again to pick up any small spelling mistakes that might've slipped past me.
Always been a nerd for researching. Sometimes I'll be researching something by my own whimsey and that'll become part of a fic after the fact, lol. I like when authors sprinkle in little bits of knowledge, and some of my favourite fics are ones that have me highlighting terms to look them up further.
I never actually had an outline for any of my old fics. I would just start typing up whatever came to mind at the time and post it when it felt ready. It's a miracle I finished a multichapter fic at all honestly. But I'd also be manic in my writing, being that I'd blast out one or even multiple chapters a day for a while and then randomly stop and not look at any of my fics for months or even years. I did begin to start fics with some outlines and collected thoughts later on, and I'm outlining so very much with my newer fic and not writing in a manic state anymore thanks to nearly a decade spent working on my mental health. I'm writing from a better place now, but I often look back at my old works and wonder if I haven't lost something over time due to the large break I took in creating, which is something that goes for my drawing too. Overall though I have a lot more hope for my future works being more planned/thought out and far superior to anything I've put out before - though I didn't get many complains on my old stuff, just a lot of very confused watchers who got overstuffed and then left in the lurch. Sorry.
The "anxiously waits for feedback" thing I think is something pretty much everyone feels when they put any work out there. I really get it with the immediate posting and having to double and triple check that I didn't misspell anything, or get something wrong, and that what I'm trying to say comes out clearly - as if people will point it out and laugh at me or something when I know they won't / haven't even had time to read it yet even though it's public. I've found it's best to just distance myself after posting and doing my doublecheck though, like just enjoying a game or an episode of something and trying to forget about it for a bit and avoid checking it too frequently. Like meditating, but with a distraction.
I have commissioned art for fics at least twice - but neither of the fics actually made it to the point were the art could be used. Oopsy. Was still fun getting the art.
So many unfinished and unpublished fics. I could probably complete that Danse/Butch smut oneshot I was doing back at new years...
"Editing and formatting is hell", I mean... I've mentioned my tendency to quadruple-billion-times check things twice now. This makes three.
Ideas in the middle of the night are the worst. I can't type shit out on my phone, it takes too long and I get frustrated (I'm also sleeping next to my partner and he'd question wtf I'm doing with a light on), and even if I try the ideas are already escaping like very agile moths. My condolence is that ideas that come when I'm half-asleep probably actually aren't that good anyway and just seem so to my sleep-addled self.
I don't need tea to write, but it definitely helps. That or an iced mocha. ... it's totally the effect of caffeine and sugar on the ADHD... I'll be bouncing up and down while I sit there but at least my fingers will be moving over the keys.

Twenty Fanfic Writer Questions
Tagged by @reconstructwriter! Thank you! I'm going to take the easy route and tag anyone who would like to participate!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
96! We're approaching the triple digits!
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
277,273 words!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
At the moment mostly Star Wars, trying to get around to finishing up my ongoing BNHA series. I'm not writing batfam anymore.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
an ill-advised gift (Star Wars), Breaking: Local Man Leaves Apartment for Eggs, Returns With a Child (BNHA), Breaking: Local Child is Straight Up Not Having a Good Time (BNHA), Breaking: Local Man Throws Cats at His Problems (BNHA), Failed Hunts and Little Stowaways (Star Wars).
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! When I first started posting on AO3 I decided to respond to every (non-hate) comment. I've kept that up for over two years now!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oof, that's actually a bit hard. Actual no comfort angst is probably between the different flavors of And Still The Galaxy Turns, It's A Sad Song, and here and now, if this is it (all Star Wars and major character death with Jedi, Clone, and Alderaan feels respectively).
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Happiest ending is probably... Hey, Look! Free Sibling! (Batfam). I am a hopeful/bittersweet ending person at heart.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not much proper hate these days. I did quit writing for Batfam in part over hate comments but for the most part I've been pretty fortunate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope, I tried once just to try but it's not my thing. I'm content writing around it if necessary.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, I enjoy reading them but I've never actually written one.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not yet!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven't!
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
These things come and go. I'm a casual multi-shipper and have been around for many a beloved ship. Right now I'd say Feemor/Jaster, I loved writing Weddings and Other Methods of Deadly Swamp Access.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I will finish them all! I will! However, I'm self-aware enough to know that The Extended Adventures of Bakugou Katsuki and His Horrible Murder Kitten is the least likely to happen. I like Bakugou, I don't love him and that's generally a killer for me with long-running WIPs.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm good about following through on individual fics. I generally focus on one WIP at a time with a random one shot thrown in when I get bored/tired. These days I almost always start posting after most of the fic is written because having eternally incomplete stuff stresses me out.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Endings, I usually have a general idea but I spend more time and energy on endings than any other part of the writing process. Also, while focusing on one project at a time is great it also means that certain series get left to the wayside for months/years with no progress.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Excluding the occasional Japanese word I've only really done conlangs and I've definitely changed over time. I used to use a lot more Mando'a and even some Dai Bendu in fic. I'm much more sparse with it now, primarily for ease of readership and because in my experience the way many people write it isn't how people talk.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically veggie tales but really DC Comics. Back when I was a young teenager! I had a whole crew of OCs with cool powers.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Ah, that's hard. I have so many and they're so different. I still have a lot of affection for all of them, even the ones I wouldn't write today. I genuinely don't think I can pick an all time favourite.

Tumblr Writer Q&A
Thank you for the tag, my darling @oonajaeadira!!!!
1) How many complete fics/one shots do you have that you have not published (yet)? None. I have a couple of chapters for multichapter fics that are kinda done but that I haven't posted yet because I'm unsure of where to take the story next so I want to wait with posting in case I need to go back and change something. But generally, I post stuff as soon as I finish them.
2) How many WIPS do you have right now? Ehum... 19. Most of them are just nonsense notes or plot ideas though.
3) Do you take writing requests or write original ideas, or both? I do both. I tend to be very slow with actually responding to the requests though, so send them in at your own risk.
4) If you do take requests, how many do you currently have? 7. I think 3 of which are from the wonderful and beautiful @thegreenkid who sends in the most amazing requests that I spend a lot of time thinking about. There's an Oberyn one that I'm just trying to come up with the right plot for, and a follow-up...ish to Nemesis that I've already started plotting in my head.
5) How many fandoms do you write for? Just the Pedro Pascal Cinematic Universe
6) Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you no longer write for? I used to write a bit for the SPN fandom back in the earliest seasons.
7) Do you write for ships, reader inserts or other? Reader inserts, mostly. But I've been known to dabble in writing for the Mustache Boyfriends.
8) Niche fandoms/characters you write for? ...I don't think so
9) Do you read fics as well as write them? I do. Not as much as I wish I had time for, though. But my To Read List is a mile long.
10) What is your favorite genre to write for? Romance and angst.
11) What is your favorite trope (to read/write)? Oh gosh, I have so many. LOVE a good Fake Married/Dating trope or a Soulmate one. Adore the Friends to Lovers and the Only One Bed tropes. I live for the slowburn fics and the mutual pining.
12) What do you do to get motivated to write? I am so incredibly easily distracted so most of the time I have to force myself to sit down and write, regardless of how motivated I'm feeling. Listening to the movie or tv show soundtrack usually helps get me in the mood too.
13) Is there a trope/genre you like to read, but not write? Domestic fluff. I think it's very sweet but I can't write it without also sneaking some smidge of angst in there.
14) Any characters/fandoms you want to write for that are never requested? I don't really care about what's requested when I write. I write the stuff I want to read and if anyone else happens to like it then great. But I write primarily for myself.
15) How long have you been writing fan fiction? I wrote my first one 17 years ago... It was SO BAD
16) Did you read fan fiction before you started writing? No. I actually started writing fanfiction before I discovered that other people did too and that I could read it.
17) Do you only post on Tumblr, or any other sites as well? I have an Ao3 account as well. I share most fics there but not always the prompts.
18) What do you personally consider the word counts of "Drabble", "One shots" and "fics"? Hmm, never thought about this. But I guess a drabble would be anything under 1k. The others don't really have a specific word limit.
19) Which do you prefer to write more? HC, drabbles, oneshots/fics, multi chapter stories, other? I am a multichapter fan. but only if I can binge them. Otherwise, I tend to lose track of them, unfortunately. I have a few right now that I'm desperately trying to remember to check for updates. ...And I only now realize that it said "write" and not "read". *facepalm*
I prefer writing the oneshots but way too often they accidentally turn into multichapter fics.
20) Are there any stories you have discontinued? If so, why? No. I have some that I haven't updated in FOREVER, but I don't consider them discontinued.
21) What is one of your main "pet-peeves" as a writer on Tumblr? Hmm...maybe the fact that tumblr always fucks up tagging people for my taglist? idk. I think I have more pet-peeves as a reader than as a writer.
22) Do you write a particular time of day? Usually in the evening after work or after breakfast on the weekends. I try to write a little bit every day, even if it's just notes. But sometimes I'm just so exhausted that I literally can't keep my eyes open enough to do it.
23) Do you listen to music, ambiance/noise, etc to write or do you need silence? A lot of the time it's the soundtrack for the movie or show in question. And sometimes I get a certain song stuck on my mind for a specific fic. Then I just listen to that song on repeat for hours. I'm sure my neighbors hate me by now.
24) Do you outline your fics at all before writing? If it's a multichapter fic, then yes. Oneshots I sometimes outline and sometimes not.
25) Do you post your writing as soon as you finish it, or do you schedule it to come out at a specific time/day?  Generally, I post it as soon as it's done, unless I'm waiting for someone to beta read it. I don't schedule when I make my posts.
no pressure and all love tagging (with request to start a new post if you partake): @yespolkadotkitty @acourtofsnakes @magpie-to-the-morning @foli-vora @keeper0fthestars @radiowallet @honest-shite
