I love how everyone is freaking out over Essek being threatened by Trent, meanwhile I was out here hyped up by the mere thoughts of him, not even aware there was a reunion happening. This might not be anything, but while writing about your fics, the way you have the characters' mannerisms down PERFECTLY got me thinking about mirroring...

There's a lot of it in 7 (Horii is a directorial genius etc etc), most of it more intentional than these probably are, but there's something so interesting about mirroring that takes the tone of a (relatively) fond memory, a familiar gesture, and inverts it in the way shown here.

OH I'M GLAD YOU'VE NOTICED THESE TOO I think I mentioned it months back (or I drafted a post 'bout it but didn't think it was anything noteworthy) but I always really did like how the Arakawa Family mimicked each other's mannerisms (also circling back to how Jo and Masato calling Ichiban 'Ichi' presumably after picking it up from Arakawa)!

Aoki actually does the same sitting gesture too! I went back to double check and skim through the rest of the game's cutscenes, and as far as I could tell unless I skipped a scene, it really is only these three that do this specific pose:

It's such a small detail but I love it immensely and it really does highlight their connections with each other and it drives me insane

also today my friend showed me that "how gay do you have to be to recognize the outfit whizzer wears during the chess game in the 2017 falsettos revival" and i said Actually that's not the outfit he wears during the chess game he wears that shirt and pants but he doesn't put the coat on until after marvin kicks him out and he sings the games i play and making a home. because like it shows he's getting ready to leave and symbolizes a sort of character shift after he breaks up with marvin. and she looked at me like this 😐

I can never let my husband play bg3 or he's going to absolutely roast me about my tastes again. He'll take one look at the cast and probably zero in on whichever one gives off the sad kicked puppy vibes and it's going to be gale and I'm going to have to sit there stewing that I am so predictable that he can roast me without even really knowing anything about the characters. He'd probably guess astarion too but gale is a sad wet wizard with a cat and my husband has heard me talk about anders enough that he'd just look at me like >:D and go "ah. The kicked puppy" and I'll end up there like >:( because I can't even argue.

Pian Raaaaan ! Fox Sister is the best I swear. She is very provocative (as in stirs up shit) and doesn't hold back her words that much and she will playfight with Ye Xiwu but also she never belittles her ? She pokes fun at her but she always reminds her that things can happen and emotions are complicated and it's not your fault to have them and she's there to help her. I don't remember from the start of the series ever seeing Li Susu with a sister, only her brother, and I truly think Pian Ran is the best sister she could have gotten, especially for not having known her mother and there not being that many women in the environment she grew up in.
