My pitch for how to fix btvs season 7 is that the Watcher's Council should've been the big bad.
It is absolutely ludicrous to me that even after s3, even after Helpless, the show cannot fully commit to the Watcher's Council being evil when they SO OBVIOUSLY ARE.
I am personally fully convinced that the Council were going to murder Faith - and I don't know how far that's canon or not but it should have been explicitly the case.
It's infinitely harder to imprison a Slayer indefinitely than to simply kill her and get a brand new impressionable one. And the Council probably wouldn't shed many tears over it - they strike me as the kind to feel very justified in doing so. It's for the good of humanity, after all. And I feel like that interacts so perfectly with Faith's own messed up lives saved vs lives taken arithmetic! It's difficult to justify that line of thinking when it's being applied to you.
It also leads into a better arc for Wesley. Because he's a naive idjit, I can see him calling the Watchers on Faith while fully believing they'll just. Imprison her indefinitely. And then being all 'oh no! D:' when he finds out they're going to kill her. And his stuff with Faith in Angel s1 is way more compelling as a result!
Fast forward to s7. We're deconstructing the Buffy mythos - the perfect way to do that is to have the Watchers Council actively trying to kill Buffy and Faith. Maybe they want to hit the reset button, maybe they've just decided Slayers as a whole are way too much trouble. It just makes so much more sense, thematically.
And you could totally still have the First! Maybe the Watchers Council can be the First's physical hands in the world instead of Caleb (because honestly, what the fuck were they trying to do with Caleb?). Maybe the First is the source of the Slayers' power. I don't know. The possibilities are endless.

I truly, TRULY do not know how to say this, because the fact that I have to say it makes me feel like I am losing my grip on reality. But no, in the post-capitalistic anarchist utopia, I will not be relying on “autistic minecraft girlies” to be building inspectors because - and this may shock you - one of those occupations takes years of education in how to read and interpret hundreds of thousands of lines of regulations based on complicated math and physics that were the result of decades of tragedy and death, and the other one involves playing a children’s video game.

"Good" Acting
i have a theory that a lot of people say acting is "good" when they're emotionally moved by it, and a lot of cishet white people have a lifelong habit of not listening or empathising when minoritised people speak, so minority actors get called "bad" even when they display some pretty fucking amazing technical skill
#also a lot of female actors don't get recognised despite being fucking GOOD#that's not to say minority actors can't always be bad#of course we can#I'm just saying#sometimes#for SOME shows in particular#ahem ahem#some actors might get very heavily criticised for reasons that have very little to do with their actual technical skill#and more to do with the politics of those criticising them#also I'm not talking about me here#before anyone says that#I'm talking about some actors I know who have recently been criticised in my opinion quite unfairly#despite doing something very difficult#like oooohhh i dunno#playing two roles in the same show?#and doing it very well#displaying some amazing technical mastery of body and voice technique#but hey what do I know#oh wait I went to drama school and I'm a professional actor lol I DO know#I'm just a woman so I have to couch my expertise in cutesy self-deprecation lest people think I'm a bitch

#we are#we are the series#we are series#tanfang#aou thanaboon#aouboom#boom tharatorn#my edits#weareedit#AOUBOOM MAIN LEADS WHEN???#i do appreciate them and the way they’ve been portraying tanfang#i know tan was a bit over the top 99% of the time#but every scene and touch felt so genuine#and i’m not gonna credit that to new#bc he wasn’t able to direct ppw in a way that didn’t make their kisses look a bit awkward#i know scenes have to look aesthetically pleasing in some way#and that’s why we keep having to deal the ‘no one would kiss with this much space for jesus between each other’ complaints#but like look at aouboom here#this is mostly them and their acting choices in my humble opinion#and don’t get me started on the pecks#ppw BARELY touched the other one’s lips when they had to do a peck kiss#like cmon the difference between ppw and aouboom pecks is insane#i’m sorry for picking on ppw but i’m a bit sad that some of their romantic scenes were a bit lackluster#especially that very last kiss which tbh i rather wouldn’t have seen bc it felt a bit awkward to me#but that may be just me#i need new to get a bit more frisky with kiss scenes when it comes to his directing#bc i feel like friskier kiss scenes only happen when the actors mostly do their thing after finding out what the director wants#(maybe i’m completely wrong about new but tkdkfdkddkdk)#and don’t get me wrong idgaf if there are kisses or not but if there’s a kiss scene you should commit instead of holding yourself back idk#and ppw definitely need a better director to help them achieve that bc jojo was definitely better at directing them
