Omg since we're talking about the birthdays on the gravestones, I did not realize that Venetia was the oldest sibling. Throughout the entirety of the film, I figured Felix was the older one, but nope if the graves are to be believed then she was born 10 April 1986. I mean she's not older by much, but wow Elspeth and Sir James were really putting the work in trying to get a son. I find it very fitting that Felix is the baby of the family lol.

there are so many that bring up interesting points about felix being older,, one time i saw a post on here (that i wish i could remember 😭) that analyzed venetia and felix as twins and i thought that was so interesting and felt so fitting bc i feel like elspeth would hate pregnancy/birth bc if you think about it,, pregnancy is the kind of thing that could horrify someone like elspeth

no hate to pregnancy i promise 😭 i just feel like elspeth's character would be kind of disgusted by it--you grow, you're prodded at, you're prone to morning sickness, and your skin and hair can lose their luster (which is part of the reason i love the interpretation of felix and venetia as twins, bc i think it's extremely conceivable that she'd get pregnant once and be like okay that wasn't for me)

maybe that's why felix is so special to her, he brought the relief of never having to be pregnant again

SLENDERMAN:

by default i think slenderman can be an okay dad and im purely basing this on the fact that i grew up on the 2010s era of the fandom where quotev quizzes and fics for the fandom were peak. i think in the beginning he would be a little lost, especially if hes going to be raising the kid alone. i mean hes a solitary creature that rarely connects with others, he knows knowing about raising a human child. and thats assuming the kid is even human. if he has a kid with a human reader, are they more human or more... creature..? are they a hybrid? how much of slendermans genetics carry over? can he even have children since admin personally thinks he was made by zalgo like all other demons in this timeline? many questions. protective and strict dad, makes sure the kid does their work and chores, but makes sure he doesnt raise a pushover... definitely hostile towards anyone who harasses the kid, be it bullying or generally just being a douchebag. i think if hes the sole parent he raises them in the woods and teaches them things himself. doesnt bother with putting the child through schooling, theyre a child of the woods now babey!!/hj

look at it this way the kid is really self sufficient and can survive in the wilderness for an extended period of time and they know how to kick butt, assuming they also grow up with his proxies. yeah.. thats going to be interesting... would they see them as uncles or as sibling or family friends? its anyones guess. bonus father figures!!

EYELESS JACK:

also does not know what hes doing. i think i wrote somewhere that jack would put the baby in a carrier and walk around with them in the woods. maybe even showing them different animals and plants even if he knows that the kid cant understand him. definitely a case where hes going to need someone else to help him, be it his partner if theyre still around, or someone else... naturally its going to be harder to find someone to help him if his partner is out of the picture for one reason or another. main reason because that jack is... oh you know, literal man eating demon who sometimes goes into blind feeding frenzies if he gets hungry enough + he tries to put off feeding for as long as possible because it literally means taking a life and he still has his humanity in there. not going to say it out right but i think you guys can put two and two together and understand why jack is wary about having a small child hanging around his cabin. also he wants the kid to be able to grow up around other people. its unlikely, since the other person is likely going to be another creepypasta character because any normal person would rat him out... but he might also want the kid to have a 'normal' upbringing. lots of feelings here for him. kind of like a tired dad, between juggling the child and the things going on with him is really going to do a number on him. giggling at the idea of him trying to get slender to help him esp since i hc they have weird territorial beef going on

JEFF THE KILLER:

actually has a decent grasp of how to treat them but thats because he had liu/was an older brother. the dynamic is less father child and more so older brother younger sibling. probably lets you have a fair amount of free reign; he doesnt really strike me as a strict guardian. probably forgets to pick you up from soccer practice/j ....actually wait no i can kind of see him actually doing that on accident. tries to make it up to you by giving you treats because he does kind of feel bad for leaving you behind. you remind him a lot of his brother. im still torn on whether or not liu is still alive in my silly au but imagine hes not and he kind of. tries to raise you good and treat you well to make up for everything that happened. jeff with some level of mental clarity after the height of everything hits me in a weird sad way i can quite describe. like dont get me wrong hes still the knife wielding dude hes usually written as, but hes a little.. just a tiny bit mellowed out. just a tad.. side note i fully blame the idea of jeff being remorseful over murdering liu from a fic that had a chokehold on me in middle school so oooo... you probably know/interact with ben through jeff since theyre good friends. jumping into my personal hc/au jeff carries ben around in a phone since bens usually confined to electronics and they grew up together. obviously jeff outgrows ben because. you know ghosts dont grow up. so imagine you start becoming best friends with ben and ben is just. SPILLING so much old stuff on jeff, mostly dumb stuff jeff did and him being a jackass. idk i just think thats funny. its like when you suddenly get dad lore but instead of getting it from your dad you get it from dads ghost best friend

I didn't realize Lesson 19 was happening today, but as soon as I figured it out you can be sure all my other plans for the evening got tossed out the window.

I apologize in advance for the length of this post. I had more to say than I thought I did. And I'd already wrote the whole thing, so I was like I don't wanna break it up into multiple posts now!

Spoilers below the cut as always.

I'm going to lose my whole mind. There is no way that this isn't the "visiting and kissing every brother" scenario that happens before the end of a season. And yet I still have SO MANY QUESTIONS.

I am very much under the impression that we are not going to be leaving the past by the end of season one. Which is ANNOYING. I keep thinking about the brothers in our present timeline. I might have to write some angty story about it to make myself feel better.

But also, what're they gonna do? Send MC back to the human world? I mean, every other season has ended that way...??? Maybe it's different because we're in ~Nightbringer~ now. We'll see I guess!

Anyway, this lesson certainly wasn't bad and there were a lot of interesting things happening to these past versions of our bros.

AUGH THE BROTHERLY LOVE IN THIS LESSON THOUGH.

Okay, so this is not really the same as how they were in the OG, but I think this makes sense considering how much time has supposedly passed between the two timelines. I mean, think about how siblings are when nothing's wrong and they're all just getting on each other's nerves most of the time. Then think about how those same siblings might band together when things get dicey. That seems to be the family dynamic we have going on here.

Leviathan, my sweet boy, I really loved how he reassured all his little bros that everything was going to be okay. He was so confident and firm in his decision in this lesson, too.

And then the way they were all surprised about it was so cute, too.

I just loved this whole moment.

Okay. And obviously we have to talk about Mammon.

This whole part really showcases Mammon and Lucifer's relationship, I think. To me, it seems like Lucifer is very much going to lock himself away, not talk to anybody about his feelings, and possibly prepare to do something drastic because he thinks it's what's best for his brothers without actually asking them. But Mammon knows this. He knows exactly what's going on with Lucifer. He doesn't have to talk to him to know. And he also knows what's going to help Lucifer. Not just the pudding, but sending MC with it, too.

Honestly, Lucifer does not give Mammon enough credit in general. Mammon is always doing stuff like this. And then throughout the rest of the lesson, he's being the big brother, too. It's like Mammon thinks that Lucifer is the one who carries all the weight on his own, but really Mammon is the one keeping that family together, I swear.

The thing about it is, none of them will do anything without Lucifer being on board. And Mammon knows that, too. So he's like okay I'm gonna send this human with some pudding to talk to Lucifer and because those are two things that Lucifer really likes, he will probably get it together enough to make the decision we all want him to.

And I think Levi understands this, too, to a lesser extent. He's over here trying to make the younger bros feel better while Mammon is trying to make Lucifer feel better.

Okay now we have to talk about Satan.

First they hit us with the Satan telling everybody to leave him behind and go back if they want to.

And then this part where they all call him out on saying he's not their brother.

And then when he finally admits he wants to be their bro and Asmo hits him with the I'm so proud of you... when I tell you I was tearing up...

I want to point out how Asmodeus and Beelzebub are the two who chimed in with these lines after Satan says he wants to be their brother. Because I think these two are the most open with their feelings in general. While Belphie will be quick to call someone out if he's annoyed with them, both Asmo and Beel are quick to praise someone. It isn't just that they're happy he finally said it, they understand that he needs their reassurance in that moment and they have no problem giving it.

And all of this was so good! It was such an excellent culmination of all the stuff that had been leading up to this point regarding Satan and his relationship with his brothers. This is exactly the kind of understanding and closure I want to have for all the other weird junk that we have no answers for yet! I should be grateful we at least got this, I suppose!

And then Lucifer makes it all crazy with an explanation I thought we'd never get about what it was like when Satan was "born."

I think it's pretty clear that they're saying exactly what some people were pointing out in the vampire event. Because Satan got vampiritis even though it only affected fallen angels. And I was definitely like that doesn't make sense! But some people said well considering he came from Lucifer, Satan probably has angel in him. And you guys were right! Because I'm pretty sure that's what Lucifer is saying here.

He may have never lived as himself in the Celestial Realm, but Satan has that same angelic power in him.

Lucifer's relationship with him is really quite interesting. I know he says he thinks of him as his brother, but... the way he talks about him... to me, it still sounds like he thinks of Satan more as his son. But I think it's easier for the game if he's one of the seven brothers lol. I personally headcanon it as Lucifer just doesn't want Satan to feel any more out of place than he already does. Also, that's kind of the familial relationship that all the former angels have in mind when it comes to each other, since they have a collective Father figure and I know Lucifer doesn't want to be seen as anything close to that entity.

And then Lucifer talks about how his decisions have caused the others to suffer. And I think this comes back to what I was saying when I was talking about Mammon - the rest won't do anything unless Lucifer makes the decision. Mammon knows this and Lucifer does, too. He talks about how he almost made a huge mistake because he was thinking about sending the others back to the Celestial Realm.

And I have two things to say about this:

One: Lucifer shouldn't have made any decision without talking to his brothers first. He needs to stop shouldering all the responsibility himself.

Two: If he really thought they would have wanted that, he really hasn't been paying attention. Sure, they've had some conflicting feelings about being in the Devildom. But they've all said they made their own choice to follow Lucifer. Does he really think they would want to leave him now? And everybody says Mammon is the idiot.

But then he surprised me by admitting that he was ashamed for almost doing that. And he apologized to them all. I couldn't believe it!

And one of my favorite parts of the whole thing:

PFFFF if that isn't the Satan we know and love!

Anyway, all in all, this lesson gave us some things that I have been wanting. Very specifically, Lucifer told us what he remembered about falling and Satan's "birth." And I can't believe we got Lucifer finally being open and talking to his bros at the end. It makes me annoyed because why hasn't present timeline Lucifer done anything like that, huh?? But yeah, it's because a billion years have passed or whatever and he's older and crankier in the present lol.

As someone who is long-time fan of Mlp EG and who has just finished watching TFP, your fic is true delight. I read it 5 times at least and it is still awesome. You perfectly matched girls with their autobots partners just as well as you did with decepticons as their evil counterpart. For example Twilight/Shockwave - both have high inteligence, but while one uses it for greater good and to help the others, the other abuses it to gain power and hurt the others; Fluttershy/Soundwave - even thought they are both animal lovers and quiet types, FS is just very shy girl while SW is calculating sadist; Rainbow/Starscream - Apart from being queer icons (If you can look at these two without the word gay constantly entering your mind, congrats, you´re legit cishet) they´re actually pretty similliar in function and personallity wise. They´re both eccentric, aroggant showoffs and are also fastest on their team. But it´s their differences that are making them great foils. RD is impaitent hothead, who jumps straight into action without the second thought, while SC is great schemer, who has his plans planed out. RD is literally element of loyalty, while SC is mostly loyal to himself and etc. I can´t wait to see all their interactions in the future. If you´re interested in some writting advice, there is one minor thing that can be fixed : your description of characters feelings and thought. You start explaining how and why they feel that way instead of giving readers benefit of the doubt. The best term I can think of is that you are describing a picture. Like you want us to see, hear and understand everything at once. It creates unnecessary sentences or whole paragraphs without which some emotional moments would have sounded better. For example if paragraph in Ch.2 with sentence "She was too stuborn." it would have sounded so much better. Or sentences like "She was too precious." are also kind of waste of space since they don´t tell anything new.It´s not worst type of description,but it can create a feeling that you don´t trust youre readers to read from emotions characters alone. Many new writers and comic artists are often doing this. It can be solved 2 ways : by improving their writing or start drawing comics. I´m sorry if I confussed you in some way. I tried my best to explain it, but english is not my primary language. If you don´t mind, I would recommend fics from @whatwooshkai to see what I am talking about ( it´s mostly TF shipping stuff, but man, the writting is so good that I can´t stop reading even if I wanted to). Overall great story and art, just writting needs a little improvment.

I want to finish this already long post with few questions:

1.What is group dynamic with eachother? I mean in and outside of their decided pairings. I can see Sideswipe and Rainbow´s relationship as chaos siblings and that Rainbow is definitely driving Ratchet insane, but what about the others? I´m courious to know.

2.Did you already started writting the next book? If not, do you have planned when you will start?

3.Do you consider draw this as a full time comic or at least draw some parts of it? Or drawing some strips of your incorrect quotes?It´s just that you´re artstyle is so pretty and redesigns of the autobots and girls are great. It´s shame to see so little of them.

4. Did you thought about getting your comics dubbed on youtube?

5. Do you draw ideas from the asks from your followers on Tambrlane or you take commissions only? Like if they had a idea for a comic/sketch and they post it to you, would you draw it? If not, could they draw it with your redesignes?

1. You are absolutely correct about Sideswipe and Rainbow’s relationship, in my opinion, they will be the best chaos siblings (I am 100% sure that most of the members will go insane because of their pranks) I could write more detailed headcanons for them and the others too.

2. The next book is nearly finished, I will make sure to post it at the beginning of January.

3. I will drop more art soon, promise! Sorry for the lack of content, I’ve been pretty busy for the past few months. But now I’m finally free and I will certainly start drawing again! I also have several ideas in mind for some parts of the next book.

4. I don’t mind my comics being dubbed as long as I’m credited and they’ve asked for permission.

5. Again, if I’m credited and asked for permission, there will be no problem for other artists to draw my redesigns. I don’t usually take requests and it really depends on my free time and motivation, but if I really like the idea that has been suggested, I would (probably) draw it.

6. Good guess! But actually no. I was really into this crossover way before Hasbro decided to make a comic of it. I’ve been into a lot of fandoms and reading crossover fanfics basically became like a hobby to me. I got a lot of inspiration after I accidentally stumbled upon some pretty good written Tf/Mlp fics, but it took me a lot of time to finally get enough courage and start writing my own. I’m more than thankful for the support and love that I was given through the years! It really motivated me to keep on going!

Kanade-Mizuki: They always have the frankest opinions of everyone else and seem to speak their mind freely, yet rarely say anything about themself. Their perspective is always appreciated though.

Ena-Mafuyu: Aren’t the big headed types supposed to not actually be good at everything? How is that fair at all, and she’s even got the nerve to be a nice person! I’ll show her-

Ena-Kanade: She’s wonderful. The soft, patient voice-of-reason needed to reign in the group, listening to her music is like a miracle cure for bad days.

Ena-Mizuki: They’re an insistent pest, that won’t leave me in peace. I guess I don’t hate the company though and they are good at putting together outfits for photos.

Mizuki-Mafuyu: A willing dress-up doll, she’s pretty enough to be one too! Kinda reminds me of an old friend with how many questions she asks about everything, guess geniuses have that in common.

Mizuki-Kanade: Always makes sure everyone feels comfortable and safe. It’s really nice to have a space I won’t be judged…

Mizuki-Ena: She’s way too funny not to tease, but she’s just as capable as the rest of the group. It’s kinda scary how easy she is to talk to, wouldn’t want to say anything I regret.

Hey, I see that the discussions around Sabezra are quite tense, so I decided to add my three cents as a person who started to ship them only while watching ahsoka show.

I must admit that even though I watched the rebels a few times, they never seemed to me to be such a good ship . Their dynamics did not seem interesting enough to me, just a one-sided crush and that's it. However, after watching ahsoka I start to have doubts about that. With all the references to Anidala and sabine's behavior I'm really starting to question it .

Starting with episode 1, just because Ezra said that Sabine is like a sister to him doesn't mean the ship is over. Honestly, this is quite common in the friends to lovers trope. One of the characters, in fear of rejection, says that the other person is like a brother/sister or simply a friend, to avoid conflict.

The thing that is often used as a counter-argument to this ship is the fact that Ezra's crush disappeared after Season 2, and I have to disagree. Sabezra has had its moments throughout the Rebels in each season. Their relationship for most of the series is coded romantically or at least it looks that way because no one can tell me that the jetpack scene was platonic. Another such striking scene is the one in which ezra saves sabine's father, I won't quote the dialogue because I don't want to look for it, but it is telling (believe me)

Back to the ahsoka show, there are many things that make me start to question sabine's behavior. First of all I would like to mention that I don't think that romantic love is stronger than platonic love etc. or that the behavior shown by Sabine could never be shown to a member of the family (for example, for the siblings).

So why do I think that the whole thing seems at least strange? It has to do with their early relationship and the dynamic in the rebels ,which has been hinted at as romantic throughout the series. To demonstrate this difference with an example of a different relationship : if someone told me that Sean from lis 2 would do all of the things sabine did for ezra , he would do for his younger brother I would take their word for it and wouldn’t question it, because yes the siblings love is just as strong.

The problem lies in how differently the two relationships are presented. Sean and Daniel's relationship from the beginning is clearly shown as a family relationship of two brothers who can rely on each other, Sabine and Ezra's relationship has an already earlier established romantic overtone and because of this ,all of the stuff that sabine did also seem romantic.

Another twist I noticed while watching are the similarities to Anidala.

A person will put the fate of the galaxy on the line for a person who continues to live in fear of being separated from them?

Becoming "blinded" by thinking only of the welfare of that person?

I think you can see what I mean. I have no idea if these references are intentional or not but they are quite striking. In addition, it is worth noting that the series is about ahsoka, who was anakin's padawan and now has become Sabine's master, which makes me wonder if maybe this is done on purpose. I like to think that ahsoka has a chance to save her apprentice from a fate similar to her master.

(Haha and a little thing I noticed in this context is that at this point Ezra is the same age as padme , they are both about 27. Looking at the fact that Ezra is supposed to be a reflection of padme I find this interesting).

Okay, I'm ending my rant now, and I'm glad I was finally able to get this off my chest. To be honest, I doubt anything significant will happen in episode 8, but that doesn't mean the ship is doomed. Frankly speaking, I think it's just getting started.

5. Favorite platonic relationship?

Okay, I'm gonna have two different answers for this.

You know Dadrius has my heart and soul. Literally over here thinking and discussing Darius and Hunter's dynamic every single day of my life for more than a year already. There's just a lot with them, the problem is that while they do have a lot, it's mostly implied, and we absolutely can deduce some things, theorize others, and run absolutely wild with parallels, symbolism and this and that, but truth is we didn't see too much of them actually onscreen. So they're my favorite platonic relationship that didn't get too much time to develop in front of the audience even if it's very well implied they did.

Special mention to Darius and Eberwolf for the same reasons, lots implied, not much onscreen because we did not have the time.

Now, for the ones we actually had time on the show for...

I think the reasonable thing would be to say the Owl Trio, and while I do love them dearly, I honestly don't tend to seek out art or such with them? I think I'm gonna have to say Lilith and Eda.

I'm just... once again, I don't really talk a lot about Lilith despite how much I love her, but she's there. She's being microwaved in my head. She's rotating. She's under my microscope. She's everything to me.

That, coupled with the fact that you put a complicated siblings relationship in media and you got me, makes it so Eda and Lilith are just fascinating to me. Yeah, perhaps the transition from them being technically enemies to allies and friends again was a little clumsy, but honestly? That sort of feels right when it comes to, again, complicated relationships with siblings.

Honestly, part of why they interested me so much in the first place is because there are aspects of Lilith I see myself in, a LOT. And Eda, well, sort of reminds me of my sister. My sister even pointed it out while we watched. It's a whole thing. We are not talking about it /lh

It's just... gods, so damn interesting, especially when you consider Lilith's side of things, there's so much love and jealousy and resentment and guilt toward Eda, it's such a mess that comes out in the worst and in the best of ways. Because she has all the information on why things happened like they did, her point of view during their relationship especially in season 1 has so many layers, while for Eda it might feel a little puzzling but there's so much about why Lilith acts like she does that she just doesn't understand. So much miscommunication, so much love, so much vitriol at the same time.

They're SO good. Their little scene in King's Tide with them holding hands with their foreheads touched together, Lilith worried sick for Eda and Eda trying to joke to lighten the mood kills me every time.

6. A character you didn't expect to love? What made you start liking them?

The Collector too, actually.

I think for the Collector there's a lot of "well, in hindsight...", because they did seem far more vicious and dangerous than they actually were in that one memory in Hollow Mind, plus they seem somewhat nonchalant in King's Tide as well.

But For the Future truly opens up that perspective, it took me a while to warm up to them even so but I think in retrospective, the way they behaved makes so much sense for the fact that... he's just a kid. A kid trying to act how he has seen adults around him act, a kid that sees someone they want to know and be friends with so badly and the circumstances are SO bad but he's a kid!!! And to a certain point he doesn't get it.

I love the Collector so much now. You can tell they were also feeling all the guilt in the world during Watching and Dreaming with that one "you can at least do this" while Belos' curse was all over him and extending over his body, like... baby, no... 😭

4. Favorite romantic relationship?

This was always here, shhhh.

Ultimately I don't think too much about the couples of the show, even though they're in general so good, but I think it's definitely Lumity for me.

In part because of the impact they had, because inevitably, if someone sort of knows about TOH but doesn't really, they sure know about Lumity. But that's more of a general answer rather than a personal one so.

I just think they're so sweet, and so well done. I truly was not expecting their relationship to actually end up being a romantic one when I was watching Season 1, but I'm so glad it did. I think they did such a good job in writing them going from sort of frenemies to friends, to Amity crushing on Luz, to the crush being mutual and them pining for one another, to the nervous first steps of dating to the point we end up seeing them in, just comfortable and loving each other just as much.

There's a lot of relationships in media that become a thing just right at the end so we don't see them develop like that and I love that they got that, I love how real it is for them to have the nervous stages even while already girlfriends and to see how time made them be more natural and comfortable with each other, because of course that happens! And Luz in Thanks to Them was keeping secrets, of course, but even then you could see they were already comfortable, not so much sweating profusely every time they saw each other or anything, it started being just tender and intimate and sweet.

Lumity is just so damn good. I love Raeda and I love them too for being people in their 40s being such messes in love, they're special in a different way but I like Lumity just a little bit more.

listen there's so much negativity going around and like. i actually really liked this season!! so!!!

the "okay, but" section

okay, so curtain's redemption arc was extremely rushed. BUT

a) i love where it's left us. curtain working on their team--and indeed him actually saying the words "i'm joining the society"--is going to be wonderful to see, and we'll be getting more of one of my favorite dynamics in the show, namely, the twins. and hopefully curtain being funny with more of the other characters.

b) although i suppose this is all assuming we get a season three at all (which i still have fingers crossed for) i would hope that as rushed as it feels now, we would have more time to breathe with it in s3--reckon with a post-redemption curtain and what his relationship with the others looks like, particularly the ones he's hurt the most, and also, number two & rhonda, now that they've "stepped into a leadership role". like that all sounds really interesting and engaging!!! rich content i want to know more!!!!

c) it was also just like. the SCENES!!! god it was heart-wrenching. again, where we ended up: what curtain said out loud, multiple hugs (!!!!) + curtain's hilarious then mildly heartbreaking interactions with jeffers&co + jackson&jillson,,,,, plus just his entertaining reactions/expressions to everything like them all aggressively reciting poetry at constance and its just lik [LIVE CURTAIN REACTION] lkgjfghfgh and then mr benedict's super passionate cross-language performance and curtains just like [visibly despairing] like you have no room to talk mr. stole the solo at the orphanage then aggressively recited shakespeare.

and like i think his dynamic with mr. benedict was especially good. even his reaction i was totally fine with (the panicking and lowkey breakdown--it was a little cheesy and even a bit unnerving seeing him finally lose it but i was like oughhhh) it's more the "aight. im good now ig" right after and just giving up. (it does make me wonder if it's actually another evil plot of some sort--which would be heart-wrenching, particularly if s3 is full of them bonding and then curtain realizing he doesn't want to betray him anymore but then whatever his plans were are revealed at a key moment.... i don't think is going to happen but fun speculation!) but like BEFORE that. oughhhhh that whole scene..... and the fact he was FAKING it.... and curtains justl ike [NOT CRYING SHUT UP] well. that was. a very devious plan. i have to respect it.

okay, so this whole "eurus benedict"/secret sister thing is fucking weird and terrible. BUT

okay first of all you can't deny that this is extremely funny

does she also have narcolepsy? plot twist, book curtain thing again, she has sunglasses and a wheelchair and anger issues. and just for flavor maybe curly hair.

is she the older sister? younger? triplet? so many questions

this could really go off the rails and even if it ends up being bad i think it will be an extremely entertaining trainwreck

okay, so there were some other problems (like sq just being fuckign missing dfkjhghfgh) BUT

sq being missing i'm mostly blaming on the change in filming location. while i'm not pleased with that, i will say

adaptation blues

i am gently holding you by the shoulders. listen to me. listen, beloved. you need to understand that this is now sort of its own thing now. if s3 comes it will probably be nothing like book 3 and that's okay. the characters are different, the changes they've already made have butterfly effect/branched off and now we're looking at a whole new picture and that's good. it's okay. deep breaths with me

honestly with the changes this season, i loved it! i'm into it!

really it's less a direct adaptation of book 2 and more like. its own thing (AGAIN. ITS OWN THING. THATS OKAY) with some easter eggs and nods to the books, particularly in the first few episodes. probably because again, changes made in s1 (which i ADORED) meant a lot of book 2 would no longer work

but i really liked the plot that was here!!! curtain's cult + the "Happiness" is absolutely terrifying, engaging the whole way through, and very good material for fic. i like miss perumal's continued presence as a character who actually does things, i like number two's weird/mildly rushed background story, everything with mr. benedict's story both about being whammied and his struggle to gain perspective when faced with his brother. i can see why some people aren't fans of kate and milligan's new story but personally i like it and think it fits them well. and constance!!!! martina!!! dr garrisons full mcfuckingbreakdown!!!! captain noland--and CANNONBALL MY BELOVED. he was so funny and i love him so much

like for me, if i want to read the book, i'll read the book. i love the roots this show has in the books, but i also love the characters that have grown from them, and want to see them grow more rather than be forced into a shape that's more like the originals.

all positivity, baby!

okay first of all this season was funny as hell. there were countless moments that were just so fucking good and hysterical. flower delivery. jackson and jillson tackling a bitch. constance's malicious therapy. dr garrison's doll. everything about jeepers. the gambling. the taxi driver. very exclusive list of traitors. miss perumal's grand theft motorcycle. what does the blueberry represent?! etc. the humor was spot on it was all HILARIOUS

the dialogue was generally the same perfect flavor of offbeat charm

the characters and relationships continue to be vibrant, engaging, and just generally soooo good. the side characters continue to be hilarious but also important to the plot (dr garrison, martina, jackson and jillson, jeepers, etc) while the main characters all have things to do (reynie and his struggles with both feeling needy and morality, sticky and boatwright academy, constance and her past, kate and her dad, mr benedict and his brother, miss perumal and both reynie and milligan, rhonda and the mission and general + number two, number two and her family + relationship with mr benedict, etc) and their interactions are always fun to watch

plus, again, some great developments, particularly with the kids and with the twins

i just had fun????? i mean i was super anxious but i'm like that any time i watch a show with suspense

but it was like it was fun! it was fun!

but it was also emotional in the right places!!!

@kitnita and @penswriter also asked me this so thank you :') i will never pass up an opportunity to talk about robotter!

tbh zoe's post on them is already PERFECT and she nails the core essence of what makes them compelling so i feel like i don't have to tack on much more but. 2129 are my 2nd favorite stars ship (i'm just equal opportunity robo multishipper. i will reflect) and my main takeaways are that they're so much fun for 1) how their freak_guy mentalities are like... insanely similar despite documented commitment to midwestern "niceness" and 2) how much they embody entwined_legacy draft narratives. and also how much they patiently indulge the media by continuously acknowledging and answering for them.

like jake being the goalie the stars traded up for, robo being the guy who slipped down to the 2nd round and wasn't even interviewed by the team because they always knew they wanted him, etc... i think what destroysss me about robo saying that he and otter "grew up together" in the ahl despite it being literally One year is that for most guys (especially star players) the ahl is barely more than a transitory interval on the path toward their Real Careers, and while robo does characterize it that way most of the time — sometimes when people fish for those ~are you surprised you Made made it to the nhl~ soundbites he's kind of like uh... well not really because i put in the work at every step of the way so why wouldn't i get there eventually? — he still talks about the draft being that moment when he realized that like, Woah okay this professional hockey stuff is a whole different ballpark and the type of player i have to become requires way more sensitive calibration than cooking in juniors does. so in that sense the ahl really is where he officially Grew Up, and the fact that he credits otter as being an integral part of that is like 😭 IT MAKES ME WANT TO CHEW ON SOMETHING.

i also think their jr paths really inform their gamer_mentalities which is sooo interesting to me. like they're both nerds but in different ways: jake is extremely sentimental about his time playing high school hockey and had a very vibrant social life in minnesota and carries that ferda love (second to none but tydel of course) into every roster he plays with, wants so badly to hold onto the memories of every guy who skates for him each season 🥲 whereas robo's parents upended a ton of familiarity to homeschool him and his siblings and let robo focus uniquely on hockey and is sort of why he's much more romantic about the game itself than anything else (and yet otter is still Special and That Guy and the Backbone of the team to him! okay!). so those little nuances, despite their being very similar competitors, does beget intriguing dynamics.

also there's a quote pav had in his exit interview (03:29) that i keep coming back to and it's that "[robo] does have somewhat of a belief that this is his team, as do other guys—as a miro, a roope, and for me that's super encouraging. to see young players have that kind of intensity, that drive, that they want to be the guy out there that's going to make a difference." and i feel like honestly no one better exemplifies that pure raw Belief that they are (or have to step up and become) THE GUY more than otter and robo do. which is just. auUGHHH... so fascinating also because at the end of the day no position is less disposable than a winger and no position is more opaque and singular and coveted than an "elite" goalie. and yet.

i won't wax poetic much longer because i feel like this is all very obvious rambling but i just adore them! and tangentially i find the general existence of ty dellandrea incredible because truly there are so many ways to insert him into a robotter triangle. and when you can start throwing in wyatt or whomever else in there??? the possibilities are endless!!! i love 2129 as a baseline "it's us until the end and we want to win HERE and TOGETHER and NOW" ship so much and i'm obsessed with how much you can keep iterating on that to your heart's content.

So I have watched the Avatar the way of water and I have to say I'm satisfied.

First things first I wasn't expecting anything extraordinary from the plot. It was kinda obvious that it will be a bit of repetition of the first movie so I'm not surprised.

So let's not focus on that and get to more interesting things there. The dynamics between the teens and Jake and Neytiri was so cute! How the siblings teased each other throughout the movie, I so love it!

Okay so we get four blue kids: Neteyam, Lo'ak, Kiri and Tuktirey. And one human kid Spider.

Neteyam is Jake's and Neytiri's firstborn son. He's trying to be a good son but usually gets pulled into problems by his younger brother Lo'ak who is a bit of troublemaker. Neteyam wasn't the main focus of the movie and wasn't properly shown for viewers to bond with him. His death was painful but felt more necessary for the plot than anything else.

Lo'ak is one of the characters the plot was focused on. I have to admit I like him. He has his problems, insecurities and is a troublemaker. His rivalry, if you can call it that, was funny. He was also headstrong, he wanted to prove himself so badly that he was repeating his mistakes. His part with the tulkun was nice, beautiful really. Though that part where he swum inside it was... Crazy!

Kiri is a adoptive daughter and is another character the movie focused on. I love her spirituality, how she listens to the world around her. Being different from everybody else like that, her amazement with the world. I understand that, I love that. There is this mystery as to who is her father, which in the end is not explained. This was disappointing.

Tuktirey is a side character, she's cute and small and that's about it. Brings in the childish wonder.

Now we have Spider, in my opinion he was kind of useless. He didn't do much, he just was there. He's Quaritch's son, which surprised me. And my favorite scene is that where they went to Ikran nest? Where Quaritch after learning that Jake did it the hard way also wanted the hard way. Such fun.

Okay so now we have the bad guys, mainly Quaritch. Main antagonist who wants to get revenge because he was killed. His character is more introspective now than in the previous movie. It makes him more interesting. His parts of the story are interesting and sometimes very funny (like the Ikran scene). How he taunted Jake and Neytiri, so cruel and yet so amazing! I like him as an antagonist.

So now let's go to the water tribe Metkayina. I love how Na'vi living on the island are more adapted to water. Fin on the tails, broader arms and more green color than blue. It's awsome. I won't focus on specific characters since I did not focus on the specific characters from that tribe. I like how they made the biological difference here since this is different geographical region of the moon.

There was the whole "rivalry" that I wrote before but it wasn't exactly a rivalry. It felt more like "you forest people came to us we are better". I think it's normal and nearly everywhere you can experience something like that.

And now my favorite part, visual part! The CGI and the whole world was done better. Understandable since technology is also better nowadays. The whole water filled with life, so beautiful! The amount of life in there is WOW. I love it, I have nothing here except bravo for the crew!

And now what I find not satisfying.

I think soundtrack was the worst part here, heard too many tracks from the previous movie. Expected something better and the ending song, not my taste.

Also I expected more fights between Quaritch and Jake. Okay, I understand that Jake is more responsible now but still!

The mystery of Kiri's father was also annoying. They could've given us literally any answer and it would be at least a bit satisfying! It would sate our curiosity at the very least.

So overally the movie is awesome! I recommend to see it really, if not for the plot then for the visual effects. If there will be another Avatar movie I will definitely see it, I love this world.

What are your thoughts on Silk 2023 #4, especially in regards to Saya and Max? I am keeping this vague in case you haven’t read it yet.

I just read it! I didn't pick up this issue because I wasn't feeling the cover, and, boy, has this gone in a direction I wasn't expecting it to. Kim's Silk runs so far have been largely hindered by the fact that they're minis. She needed more time to flesh out the themes she wanted to tackle in Age of the Witch and similarly I think she needs more time for Nightmare Boulevard. But with what we got -- since Marvel isn't going to give any non-iconic/not-a-safe-bet character an ongoing at this point -- I think there were some interesting ideas floating around!

[Spoilers for Silk 2023 up to #4]

To quote myself like two months ago in a discord chat, Goo's intro to Saya was very fun and flirty but we still saw that hard streak under her: blowing up Kasha, leaving Silk behind, etc. I said back then that if Kim could establish a motive that made sense, we had a potentially more interesting villain. And that happened, didn't it?!

Saya's motive makes sense, and I think it's very compelling with the two pages we got! A last-ditch effort to please your dad who you thought was dead the whole time? Okay, so we're working with very normal family dynamics, I see. I think this is such an intriguing twist to what happens to Saya after the 2021 run, and I do think that Kim consistently has solid ideas that can flesh out characters really well from what I have read of her (Silk and Tiger Division - note that I say ideas only (relevant later)). But having that cause for Saya's obsession would've landed better without Max's dialogue. The switch from Saya working to please her father to Max sort of threw the vibe off for me, because his dialogue was so on the nose. I would've rather wallowed in Albert's feelings at being left behind, which was far more interesting and compelling to me.

Casting both siblings as parallels I really liked fundementally if not the execution! Considering (if I remember correctly) that Max is the older brother I was not expecting that at all. It's a good utilization of the 2021 run where Max was nowhere to be seen in Silvermane's account of Saya's childhood, since that hammers home how irrelevant he feels (not even mentioned in the flashback about his sister!). I wish we saw him actually be a big brother more, trying and failing to guide Saya and the culture differences from being brought up in different countries. I wish this run was longer so we could see Saya's breaking point in real-time along with the Moon sibs' dynamic being shaken up more.

Kim suffers from being limited to 5 issues, but I don't think the thought truly hit me till issue #4. Seeing Saya's motivation and Max's info-dumping really really opened up my eyes to what could've been and left me wanting more than we got. So far I've been enjoying with the dream sequences and Albert playing a bigger role, but this issue sorta threw everything off-kilter because it felt lazy, everything is just stated, and we're left the fill in the holes ourselves -- except there's too many holes and all I have is a bucket. The ideas are there, the thoughts are there, but not enacted upon whether it's because of lack of space (only 5 issues) or just on the nose writing.

Cindy is also not a character made for a mini, she's literally built on internal struggles and needs time to THINK pls and ty xoxo. God, everything would be golden if 2021 was a transitional 5 issue run and the stuff we got after that were all 12+ issue runs diving deep into Cindy's journalist investigations of the witch, thoughts on identity, and then Saya breaking under pressure and the dreamscapes. Because I really like all the runs' plots and attempted themes!! I'm more frustrated at what could've been, so sorry this ask turned into a critique/complaint-fest!! I think Emily Kim has a lot of good ideas, and I don't want to condemn her as a bad writer if it's management fucking her over. Plus, it's so early in her career and she's improved a lot already compared to last year's run, it's just that Marvel keeps doing minis and it's killing the fun of comics. Even seasoned comic writers are struggling with the minis, I've heard, so I'm inclined to believe it's corporate fault. I just wish she had the space or time (or something?) to make those thoughts truly great and not just ideas floating around untethered.

Side note: Cindy and her theme of trying to lowkey save all her villains is something I deeply enjoy and I hope it continues for the final issue and everything that comes after!

Literally like!! Genshin fandom has actually been one of the worse fandom experiences for me, and I think we can blame a lot of it on the game and its translation, but also it’s just so goddamn frustrating at times. That klc post was written before hidden strife but if anything the event further confirmed that their dynamic wasn’t ‘adopted siblings’ (despite eng translation as usual messing up everything including Kaeya’s opinion of their fight) and that Kaeya doesn’t view himself as a Ragnvindr. 

An AU where Kaeya would have been fully adopted could be potentially interesting, actually! Ragbros AU if you will. But for some reason people never really go for all the implications of that - how strongly it would influence Kaeya’s internal conflict and his abandonment issues, how Diluc would change his treatment of Kaeya, how differently another Ragnvindr progeny would be viewed in Mondstadt, would he succeed the Dawn Winery’s business, so many possibilities... But no, they simply take canon klc dynamic and twist it, ignoring all the discrepancies which point to a non-familial relationship. That tag is just one more annoying attempt at censure within fandom spaces, familiar to anyone who ever interpreted fictional relationships as homoerotic before (how dare you tarnish this beautiful brotherly or sisterly bond by your sinful delusions etc etc yawn). And big agree about Hidden Strife letters, they still represent the usual dynamic as is the norm for all those temporary events. But fandom sadly tends to go for extreme interpretations, either the characters totally hate each other or they are secretly totally fine and getting along splendidly... I guess maybe people are getting tired of this kind of one-sided relationship, so they want some kind of resolution one way or another, but I kind of like the place Kaeya and Diluc are in right now. It would be nice to get some more Diluc POV just to confirm whether he cares in a detached way or in a barely suppressed passionate & deep way, and/or if perhaps he does carry some hateful feelings towards Kaeya, but otherwise it’s just a really good starting off point for creating fan content.  Speaking only for myself, but it’s all the more bittersweet that there is a possibility that they won’t reconcile after all, that their paths might diverge, that their ideologies might already be irreconcilable without us knowing, that Diluc maybe doesn’t really care that much after all. With this in mind, positive outcomes such as reconciliation, a romantic relationship or a rekindling of friendship, are so much more impactful.

If Azula is emotionally immature she would not be able to give Katara the comfort and emotional support that Katara needs(or other characters/ships).

I appreciate you taking the time to ask me about Azula & Katara, there are few things I love talking about more & I'm home sick in bed so it's a perfect time lol! TLDR: Azula & Katara's romance could take many paths both healthy & unhealthy & Katara doesn't necessarily have to be the perfect emotionally mature good girl (we see in the series that she too has unresolved trauma) but either way it's a good story. More below the cut because I wrote a novel

First I have to address the whole "I want them to be equal" thing. I think this falls in line with the common desire among people shipping fictional characters for the relationship to be "healthy." Everyone has different reasons for "shipping." I personally treat it as a creative writing exercise. Romantic relationships between fictional characters are interesting to me in the context of what they mean within a story & I do not choose romances to write about or fixate on because I think they are "healthy" or "goals." I choose them because I think they would make a good story

My ongoing Azultara story set in Buffy the Vampire Slayer verse has their romance start off very toxic going so far as cheating & destroying a building by having poorly timed post-battle sex & eventually choosing opposite sides in a supernatural war - not what I'd call the definition of healthy xD

My friend & fellow writer is posting a Life is Strange verse Azutara story that has them immediately becoming obsessed with each other & starting a massive forest fire as well as planning to run away together & it's quickly becoming one of my fave fanfics to obsess over so clearly I'm not in this for healthy relationship goals.

I mean, my favorite movie romance is Veronica & JD in Heathers, okay, I'm the wrong person to come to if you're seeking out perfectly balanced super healthy romance stories.

That said - let's talk about two aspects of this argument against Azula & Katara romance that I think you're hinting at. (& I don't think you personally are trying to argue or anything I'm just taking the chance to argue in favor of my favorite ship lol)

Katara is more emotionally mature than Azula & therefore might be pushed into a caretaker role

Azula could never be there for Katara emotionally the way Katara could for Azula

About the first point, I have two main counterarguments. First of all, who cares? Azula & Katara aren't real. I really don't feel any guilt enjoying the occasional story where Katara does take a bit of a caretaker role when it comes to a mentally broken & totally as of yet unredeemed Azula. That could be an interesting story that's in character for both girls. & again, that is my only reason for shipping characters. Second of all, most complex relationships aren't cut & dry "everything is always 100% equal." Azula & Katara would have a complex dynamic. Whether it's because in the series they were on opposing sides of a war or because in an alternate universe they have totally clashing personalities & values - that's a huge part of the appeal. Maybe early in the relationship, Katara is forced to take on the brunt of the emotional labor but later the two become more equal partners as Azula learns Katara's needs & wants to repay her for her mercy & kindness (as in THIS excellent story).

About the second point, I say....I don't think that's true. I actually think that Azula would have a very difficult time totally shutting someone as kind & compassionate as Katara out. Part of the appeal of the ship for me is that Azula is cold & detached from her emotions but hurting deep down & Katara is very in touch with her emotions & intense about it & she too is hurting a lot. Azula wouldn't know what to make of this loud intense compassionate girl who maybe tries to help her! Azula in series is not as compassionless as some fans like to believe. She goes to comfort & check on Zuko when he goes off to their old beach house alone. She comforts Ty Lee when she makes her cry. She's ruthless in a war setting, but that's how she's been trained to be - it doesn't mean that she couldn't be kind if given the chance.

Onto a part of this ask that I've yet to address - is Katara really emotionally mature?

Emotional maturity is a huge & vast topic. In my fire siblings post (I had to go back & look lol) I said: "emotional maturity is the ability to understand yourself & others & empathize as well as the ability to make your own decisions & come to your own conclusions about your values." I'll admit, I came up with that way to define it for the purposes of that question about the fire siblings. In this way, Katara who is idealistic & strong in her core values is very emotionally mature.

Katara also has a lot of unprocessed trauma though. We see in "Southern Raiders" that she hasn't actually dealt with losing her mother. Katara has a lot of buried rage & hurt. & maybe that's not the same as "emotional immaturity" but it definitely leaves her with her own issues.

My thing is - I do think Azula could be there for Katara. I think it would take a lot of growth on Azula's part, but again, the way characters can impact each other's arcs is what draws me to ships.

Also - Katara having her issues too only makes the ship more fun! There's something to be said about Katara exploring her darker emotions & getting the chance to let out anger. Azula obviously has a plethora of family drama. Katara isn't without it though - she spent a lot of her life without her dad around in canon & in an alternate universe there's a lot of potential to give the water family a lot of drama of their own. Hakoda & Sokka seem to have a much more repressive way of handling the grief of losing Kya while Katara is louder about her hurt. This post got long as fuck lol - also if I sounded argumentative toward you it wasn't intentional I just wanted to write an essay in favor of Azutara xD I think Azula & Katara have a lot of potential stories to be told about them whether platonic or romantic whether as enemies or friends or lovers (or all 3 in one story) - they're both fascinating complex characters with a lot to offer & a lot of reasons they'd be interesting together.
