#I liked the scene where they were all dancing with the wolves together specifically

Usopp was very happy when he got the dials in the manga (chapter 301), like aww I'd nerd out too! Zoro pipes in too and calls what Usopp got as cool! & Zoro happily clinked beers with the guy you thought he killed in chapter 300 keeping true to his word of having no hard feelings to him 🥹
Also (if you watch the full eps and not the ones cut in One Pace maybe?) do you notice Usopp having the eye to single out & then eat the heart-shaped carrot Sanji kissed :'D & Sanji having gay panic thanks to Usopp twice (both are anime additions not in the manga, but still) XD
Sanji being happy around Luffy & Usopp is super "Sanji showing his inner sweet summer child" too honestly
I feel like the anime always goes the extra mile w sanji n usopp just thinking about the scene where sanji calls nami cute and usopp replies “thank you <3” and of course them holding hands in their sleep and usopp telling sanji (while dreaming) “you smell nice”

Alright so, new Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance 5-minute clip, looking to be the opening of episode 1. This’ll probably be my last post on the series until it actually comes out, so I’m gonna talk about the clip itself and predictions for the series in general (and maybe a few other things).
Yeah, it looks pretty good overall.
The Good
The mobile suit animation’s nice and smooth, the visuals are gorgeous (I particularly like the redesigned GAW and Dopp aircraft). I really like the look of the rest of the Red Wolves squad’s Zaku’s, and the score sounds nice. We still haven’t seen anything of the plot or any non-Zeon characters, so it’ll be interesting to see how they play this (they seem to be building up the Gundam as this horrifying monster, which is a neat take). We know the team is operating in Romania on November 6, which puts them very close to the Battle of Odessa on November 7th. It’s unlikely that they’ll be directly involved in the battle (otherwise we probably would’ve seen it in the trailers), but it seems likely that they’ll be involved in the fallout as the Federation begins to get its act together. This is also fun as Odessa is the Federation’s first deployment of their GM units (specifically GM Ground Types), which Zeon has no experience against. The existence of a Gundam on top of that is essentially the worst-case scenario for any Zeon Force, so suddenly Iria’s look of horror has some nice context to it. There’s obviously a lot of influence from Gundam Igloo, so it’ll be nice to see that too. I’m personally really hoping we see some space combat, but I won’t be too disappointed if that isn’t the case.
The Bad
Voice acting and lip-synch are looking kinda rough - buuut we kinda already knew that from the previous trailers (like that pink-haired soldier). And honestly, I don’t think it’s really an all-over problem, just a few specific performances - a lot of the bit soldiers were pretty good and, though maybe this is just me, it’s probably going to have a Japanese dub track, so if the voice acting’s flat enough then I’ve no issue watching it subbed (not that that’s a solution I’d suggest for everyone, obviously). It’s also possible that the actors were given poor direction with what the scene was going to be, hence their performances feeling disconnected.
I do feel like it’s suffering a bit with it needing to “set-up” Gundam a bit - the two soldiers conversing where one says “yeah, I’m looking forward to going back to my girlfriend, in space” then gets shot shortly after. Like, if he had been shot by a mobile suit than I would’ve said that was Gundam in its bare essentials, but it does feel like there’s an….. obligation? Towards it? Sorta like “yeah yeah, war is hell and all that, oh gotta mention that we’re a sci-fi property too, that’s important….”. I don’t know, it’s just I can quote multiple scenes that have done a better job of establishing stakes and tone like that off the top of my head, so Requiem for Vengeance’s take just feels pretty flat. Also - and this is very nitpicky - the individual space colonies in the sides have names, like Tigerbaum or Achilles, so the soldier could’ve just said “my girlfriend in the Achilles space colony” or something. Yeah, it’s still a bit hackneyed but it would’ve made more sense. Dang, if only we’d solved Gundam’s need for set up back in 1979, isn’t it a shame we can’t take 20-30 second to be like “Oh hey, Zeon declared Independence and now there’s a war on *shot of operation british*. It’s not going well though”. C’mon guys we already cracked this, what’s the issue?
The character animation’s rather lacking too - I don’t know much about Unreal Engine, so it’s possible that it’s rather tricky to animate convincingly using it and they wanted to use those resources on the Mobile Suits, but several of the Zeon and Federation Soldiers just look like tap-dancing deer in headlights in the opening scenes. The Tanks….. I’m probably remembering IGLOO’s animation as better than it was, but they feel so cumbersome here, and the way that the Federation tanks just line up behind each other when attacking feels kind of lazy - especially since they outnumber the Zeon tanks nine-to-four.
Other stuff
There’s been basically nothing on the characters as yet, so there isn’t really anything to go on in terms of personality. Honestly, it could go either way with them, though I fully expect at least one of Iria’s wingmates to be killed (likely by the enemy Gundam, but it might be thematically interesting if an enemy tank gets them). Furthermore, it looks like one of the tank commanders seen in the clip is going to be a recurring character, which’ll be interesting. It’s unclear as to whether Newtypes will feature - Iria has an explanation on what they are but it’s unclear if this is just scene-setting or not. I’m not really sure how they’d fit into the plot, so I guess it’ll be a wait-and-see affair. I’m also still interested in seeing if we’ll get anymore kits out of this - I can’t imagine there’s any reason we wouldn’t see some more Zaku’s or the new GM, since most of the design work is already done. I’ve noted previously that the “new” Gouf Custom design appears to be so it will require the minimum amount of work to turn into a kit, since it’ll most likely be a variant of the existing one.
Apologies if this posts a good deal more scattershot than usual. It was partially to collect my general thoughts on the new clip in general, and also because I wanted to interrogate my own thoughts a little bit. This is because my immediate thought at the end of the clip was: “Man, Code: Fairy was crap”And I have absolutely no idea what brought that on.

Made of Iron, Born of Fire: The Fanmix
by @imgoingtocrash
Listen on Spotify and 8tracks
Read the series on Ao3
AKA: A labor of love for @savvysass’s birthday!!!!
What can I say that hasn’t already been said because we’re both incredibly sappy people in our Author’s Notes? Writing this series with you has brought me so much joy in the last two years, and I never could have hit over 100k words without you. Here’s to whatever we write next in the series...and all of the WIPs we’re working on right now...and only god knows what’s next for us personally and professionally...and most importantly, to you on your Birthday. Thank you for being such a good friend, in both fandom and outside of it. I’m so, so thankful to know you and love you. 🥰
Director’s Cut Below, because we all know I love talking about this series, and yes, that does extend to why I picked these songs. (And also maybe because these song choices only make sense in my brain and hopefully Savannah’s?? Who knows! Feel free to ask questions if you want but let’s be honest this series and fanmix are most importantly for us, because we love the series so dang much.)
My Wildest Dreams by Ron Pope
I spoke in riddles and in rhymes, but my time with you has taught me to simplify, you’re not quite what I pictured you would be, you’re better than my wildest dreams.
We’ve talked about this one before, and I’LL TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN!!!! Ron Pope is so good imo, and this song wowowow the father-child feels, but especially with Tony and newborn Peter a la A Foreign Feeling and A First Time For Everything.
Big & Scared by Raleigh Ritchie
I want to be better for you, let me do that now, you’re my favorite human, so you should be prepared, I’ll help you get through it, when you’re big and scared
We’ve mentioned Tony’s thoughts about legacy multiple times by now, and I think this song really represents Tony looking forward to the person Peter could be become and that “breaking the cycle” mentality of supporting Peter even when he’s not a perfect father.
Legacy of Sadness by Ron Pope
irrational as it may seem I guess I’m sorry, even though I know that none of it’s my fault, it is easier for me to count my blessings, than to cry for every single thing we’ve lost
I have 0 shame putting these two songs by Ron Pope almost back to back because they’re the opening and closing of an album dedicated to his child like...it’s so perfect for Tony and this theme of reflection on who he is and who Peter will become/is becoming and all that entails.
this is me trying by Taylor Swift
They told me all of my cages were mental, so I got wasted like all my potential, and my words shoot to kill when I'm mad, I have a lot of regrets about that
I wrote something...very sad but also soft recently??? and this is for That it’s about pre-CW Pepperony being separated and the road to them trying to come back together including Tony working on himself and I love it!!! It hurts really good!!! This whole song is perfect for it and I can’t wait until people get to read it.
Be Good When I’m Gone by Four Year Strong
I'm sorry I can't stop to listen, but I've got so much to do and I've got some place to be, the house looks like the aftermath of a hurricane, I hope it stays that way
Tony being a busy parent but doing his best to make time for Peter in his life and making that time count has been something super important to illustrate to us, especially the transition from being a CEO to being a superhero and how that changes how Peter sees Tony’s absence over time.
I Won’t Back Down by Johnnyswim, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, and Penny and Sparrow
Tony puts on the original version by Tom Petty in Home Is Where The Heart Is, but I think this cover has a very slow, emotional undertone that’s really great too. The interludes, if you didn’t catch it, have all been featured in a fic previously.
Let It Matter by Johnnyswim
So if it matters let it matter, if your heart's breaking let it ache, catch those pieces as they scatter, know your hurt is not in vain
Pepper in Never Tell Me The Odds ALL DAYYYYY. She’s the emotional rock of that fic (and of our Ironfam TBH) and it’s all because she allows herself to feel her feelings and encourages the Stark boys to do so as well.
Simmer - Acoustic by Hayley Williams
And if my child, needed protection, from a fucker like that man, I’d sooner gut him, cause nothing cuts like a mother
Post-Home Is Where The Heart Is...y’all know Pepper’s not that mad about what happened to Obie. Also just Pepper when someone hurts her family?? I always write it as her sort of putting all of her emotion into something she can control and doing it well, so, this song is all about that.
Tightrope by Nia Hendricks
one step after another, keep holding on to each other, don’t look back, move on and let go, that’s how you walk on a tightrope
Pepperony trying to navigate their relationship and the insanity of superhero stuff and also co-parenting. It’s all excellent, I love them so much, I enjoy writing it so much!!!!
Dancing With Your Ghost by Sasha Sloan
Never got the chance, to say a last goodbye, I gotta move on, but it hurts to try, how do I love, how do I love again?
This song is tilted towards romance, but if you’ll remember, we’re a Pro-Tony Survives Endgame AU series, so it’s not about THAT...but well...Infinity War sure will hit something fierce for certain non-romantic relationships in this series, huh?
The Bones by Maren Morris
Call it dumb luck, but baby, you and I, can't even mess it up, although we both try, no, it don't always go the way we planned it, but the wolves came and went and we're still standing
Post-Endgame Ironfam!!! Tony and Pepper married with their kids, their family and HAPPY...THIS IS WHY WE DO ALL OF THE ANGST...FOR A FAMILY...WE LOVE THEM
Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas
Considered Pepper and Peter’s ‘song’, as it’s referenced multiple times in the series, and was one of the bigger solidifying moments of their mother-son relationship as a whole.
Mundane by Hardcastle
And I’ve been sinking into silence, dwelling on my thoughts, and in these months, I haven’t felt that most conversations have left me anything but blue
Peter’s selective mutism was something very special to us when we originally had the idea, and making sure we talk about it and utilize it in the right way is something we’re still working on, particularly with the Therapy Fic we’re brainstorming atm.
survivin’ (One Eyed Jack’s Session) by Bastille
What can I say? I'm survivin', crawling out these sheets to see another day, what can I say? I'm survivin', and I'm gonna be fine, I'm gonna be fine, I think I'll be fine
Spoiler Alert: Peter’s not fine, like, a decent amount of the time. But he’s sure trying, and we love him for that.
Jacob from the Bible by Jake Wesley Rogers
Mama, don't worry, it took me years, to say I'm sorry, to see your tears, Mama, forgive me, I grew up too fast, but it's not on you, it's in the past
Mostly part of Peter growing up to become a hero and realizing what his parents--particularly Pepper--have gone through for him to become the person he is today, but that sometimes he still doesn’t feel like he’s making them proud enough.
Compassion Is a German Word by To Kill A King
Don't be so arrogant, you ain't no different to anyone I've met, we're all the heroes in our own film, or maybe the villain in someone else's
Spider-Man being an excellent superhero boi!!! Being kind and good!!! We love it!! Also, I put a TKAK song on...a LOT of my playlists, because I think they’re great.
brutal by Olivia Rodrigo
And I'm so sick of seventeen, where's my fucking teenage dream?, if someone tells me one more time, "Enjoy your youth", I'm gonna cry
I mean...this song is such a Teenage Mood...I had to do it...
In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning by Frank Sinatra
So, I had this cute little scene in my head that went with this song for SO LONG but there wasn’t really anything for it to fit into so...yeah that’s part 2 of Savannah’s Birthday Gift, a little soft Baby Peter drabble. Fluffy Goop from top to bottom. That can be read here.
Home by Phillip Phillips
Just know you're not alone, 'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home
...I know it’s not original, okay? It’s found family, it’s great, I don’t care!
Comes and Goes (In Waves) by Greg Laswell
And this part was for her, and this part was for her, this part was for her, does she remember?
This song is good family angst in general BUT these specific lyrics made me think of Mary and that they never forget her in their lives despite the other stuff going on (because we refuse to let them).
I Have Made Mistakes by The Oh Hellos
I have made mistakes, I continue to make them, the promises I've made, I continue to break them, and all the doubts I've faced, I continue to face them, but nothing is a waste if you learn from it
No one in the Ironfam is perfect, but they all do their best to try and grow even when they’re scared they’ll never be able to. The ups and downs are all par for the course of this series to us.
Easy Days - Demo by Bastille
Cause I don’t wanna fall back again, back into the easy days, everything was so simple then, little fires burned away
Strife is a part of life, and the family in this fic growing through their loss and struggles and moving ahead as a unit to get to a better place is super central to making the fic what it is...but it’s easy for them to remember the old days before being superheroes and wishing it was simple again.
North by Sleeping At Last
Let the years we’re here be kind, be kind, let our hearts like doors open wide, open wide, settle our bones like wood over time, over time, give us bread, give us salt, give us wine
The way Tony went from feeling so alone to having an entire built family that’s so full of love and everything he never dreamed of...*screams into my pillow* I love this series so much thank you and good night!!!

Twelve Nights
Modern au fic where BusinessMan McMoneybanks Dorian Pavus meets LocalArtist Outdoorsyguy Taren Lavellan whilst on a trip to a Fancy Ski Resort In The Mountains with his Terrible Family, and learns the True Meaning of The Holidays (it's love). Now with added subplots and a plan! This fic is my holiday obsession, it's going to be tropey and fluffy and sweet, and not terribly long. Set in some kind of vaguely Thedasian modern au, with Dalish elves and dwarves and the like, but no actual magic, only *~holiday magic~* Rated M for not-very-explicit sex. Excerpt under the cut. Read it on AO3!
The air was crisp, and perfectly still. The thunk of Dorian’s car door slamming shut sounded out soft, almost muffled by the quietness of the snow-covered street. There were no other cars parked in the tiny lot in the centre of it, which divided two rows of quaint little shops on either side. The street rejoined itself around the empty parking lot and wound away in either direction. The side streets that branched in awkward zigzagging patterns off of it, sparsely lined with picturesque little cottages with wide yards of snow between them, weren’t even plowed. The main road ran up and down; up, winding slowly through a forest of trees and disappearing into the mountainside, and down, towards a glowing town square lit up at its centre by a tall, festively decorated pine tree.
Dorian watched his breath form a cloud of mist in front of him, and pressed the little button on his keychain. His car’s lights flashed, and the horn beeped once, obnoxiously loud against the silent scene. For a moment, he glanced up the road, and then lifted his head higher, arching his head way back to take in the peaks of the mountains overshadowing the quiet town. The sky was fading into sunset, and pink light glowed through the trees and sparkled off the snow in the distant mountaintops. The mountains loomed quietly, shining in orange and peach with dark evergreen trees blanketing around their roots, and among them little golden lights from mountainside cabins were glowing softly through the snow. It was beautiful and serene, like a scene directly out of a holiday card, and Dorian hated every single thing about it.
He sighed, breath forming a long whispering mist from his mouth and disappearing into the air, and rubbed his hands together. He scanned the shops on the street before him, windows all dark, signs all turned round to ‘closed’, and then with another, more irritated little sigh, looked at his watch.
Half past four, said the large gold analogue contraption on his wrist. He sighed again, and strode forward across the street, his shoes slipping awkwardly against the packed down snow. He stepped up onto the sidewalk and frowned at the crunch of coarse salt under his foot. Then he glanced up and down the line of shops one more time, his eye landing on the only lit window on the whole street, and with one last heavy sigh, walked carefully towards it.
The buildings looked old; stone foundations with thick wood or brick walls, mostly two stories tall with little apartments slotted in above, and topped with high-pointed dutch roofs complete with smoking chimneys. He passed a dark-windowed chocolatier with displays of intricate candy ornaments and gold foil wrapped chocolates in the window, and a bakery with windows decorated with paper snowflakes and quintessentially charming gingerbread houses. All closed as of four in the afternoon.
"Ridiculous." He muttered aloud to the empty street.
The open shop, when he came to it, had a large sculpture of a wooden bear in the window, and a tower of suede moccasins on display. Lavellan's Crafts, said a sign on the door. Looking in through the window he could see more display stands; postcards and keychains and little animal figurines.
Fantastic, thought Dorian bitterly, a chintzy souvenir shop. Just what he needed.
He pushed the heavy wooden door open, and it grunted on its hinges as his feet stomped over the welcome mat. And it was a Welcome! mat, woven out of some coarse fabric and dotted with thematic pine cones and holly leaves, the happy greeting stencilled on in uncomplicated calligraphy.
The warmth and the smell of the place washed over him immediately. The walls were left unpainted, beautiful old wood varnished and shining in the warm incandescent light from an intricate wooden chandelier that hung overhead. A nearby shelf littered with artisanal scented candles and boxes of "genuine" incense sticks wafted out a mix of bold scents; patchouli, sage, maple, pine. He moved away from it, scanning the other shelves and displays.
Beaded decorations and windchimes hung in one window, and further into the shop, past the little rotating displays of animal figurine keychains and greeting cards, larger items stood out with hefty price tags. Large canvases displayed boldly painted landscapes of the local scenery in all seasons, and portraits of rustic looking elves engaging in various traditional activities. His eyes lingered on the paintings a little too long, caught up in the crisp lines and bright colours. The people all had joy on their faces; rosy cheeks and bright eyes, dancing in colourful dresses that very nearly looked to be moving. As he stood struck by their expressiveness, he almost forgot to remain unimpressed.
He picked up a bar of handmade soap scattered with gritty bits of lavender, sniffed it, and put it back down. Then he wandered over to a display of wooden tree ornaments, and spun it absently, watching the little wolves and caribou and bears sway about.
"Looking for something specific?" Said a soft voice out of a dark nook behind the counter at the back of the shop.
Dorian turned to look with a start, and before he could think better of it, he complained.
"Got anything that says 'happy holidays, thank you so much for dragging me out to the frozen middle of nowhere to spend the holidays working out of some stuffy old cabin that doesn't even get cell service. Not that it matters, since the entire dull little village shuts down at four in the afternoon and in all probability there won't be anywhere for miles to find decent company or a decent brandy’ ?" He asked. Then with a twinge of self-aware guilt for his attitude, he amended the rant with a vaguely apologetic "no offence".
Behind the counter, the soft voice was laughing. Then an elf came into view, leaning his elbows over the counter and looking at Dorian with sparkling green eyes. He kept laughing, chuckling mildly under his breath and shaking his head so that golden light danced off the messy curls of his dark red hair. His face was tattooed, like the elves in the paintings, and they glowed against his warm-toned skin. Dorian had never seen work like it in real life, and once again found his eye lingering a little too long.
"Sorry, I don't think so." The elf said finally, a sideways smirk resting on his full lips, "but the shop down the street sells chocolate truffles filled with brandy that are quite nice. They don't open again until ten tomorrow, of course. Can I interest you in a postcard of our dull little village, instead?"
Dorian's cheeks burned, and not half because of the chiding tone of the shopkeeper's rebuttal. Mainly, he was busy getting hot at just how striking those eyes were; how they glittered across the room at him with perfectly patient bemusement.
He sighed. "Apologies. Long drive." He muttered, quickly grabbing an ornament carved like two fish swimming after each other's tails, and a wintery postcard decorated with a photograph of the tree in the town square. He walked himself up to the counter and set the items down, hastily digging into his pocket for his wallet and avoiding the elf's still-penetrating gaze.
"If it's for someone you don't like, you should go with the wolf." Remarked the elf, still leaning his elbows on the counter and making no moves to ring him up, or stop smirking. "Around these parts, we tell stories about a Dread Wolf who tricks tourists into getting lost in the mountains." His smirk broadened.
"Then why put it on an ornament?"
The elf shrugged. "They're good stories." His soft voice lilted with an accent Dorian couldn't place, musical and sweet, but there was still a good deal of cheek to his tone. "Actually, the wolf represents strength and loyalty. The Dread Wolf is just a local legend." Then he winked at him, and slid the postcard across the counter to the register.
"Strength and loyalty." Dorian shook his head, "and fish?"
"Balance."
Balance. As in work-life? Ironic, given the intended recipient. "I'll stick with the fish."
"That everything?"
Dorian nodded.
"Hold on, I think I have something in the back that might interest you." The elf disappeared into his dark little nook and through a storeroom door, the teasing smirk never once leaving his face. When he came out again he was holding a single gold foil wrapped chocolate, and he nudged it across the counter with a friendly nod. "Happy holidays." He said, and the smile on his face shifted into one that was somewhat less amused, and more sincere.
Dorian took the chocolate tentatively, and finished paying for the ornament and card. It totaled more than he would have expected for some faux-Dalish tourist fare, and he took a second to properly look over the ornament before tucking it into his pocket. No factory logo, just the initials TL burned into the wood. So maybe it wasn't quite a chintzy souvenir shop.
"This all local?" He asked, suddenly feeling a new wave of guilt over his earlier disparaging comments.
The very obviously Dalish elf in front of him raised an eyebrow and nodded. "There's a collective."
He plucked two business cards and a pamphlet out of the brochure stand in front of his cash register, and slid them across the counter. The business cards had gallery names on them, and the pamphlet advertised the services of a local community centre, including an ongoing holiday craft fair. Dorian glanced over the rest of the brochures in the stand. There were a few other business cards for local shops, and pamphlets for companies offering various adventure packages; mountain climbing, horseshoe tours, trail rides.
The elf's gaze followed him with a faint degree of amused judgment, and the expression fell on his striking features in a way that made Dorian's throat dry. He cleared his throat, picked out a general ‘Village Businesses’ brochure from the stand and smoothed out his expression. It was entirely unfair, this striking elf looking at him like that. He could fix this.
"Well, now I've made a fool of myself, can I more humbly ask for a recommendation?" He passed the brochure over the counter with a gracefully apologetic smile.
The elf unfolded the page on the counter top. Then grabbed a pencil from somewhere out of that mess of hair, and flashed him a quick, toothy grin before bending over it and beginning to circle and scribble away.
"This might help keep you from getting bored, even without cell service. When do you leave?"
Dorian's heart jumped at the retort, and the elf glanced up at him with another quick flash of taunting teeth.
“In about two weeks.” He answered roughly, throat dry again.
The elf passed back the brochure, and tucked the pencil back into a braid behind his ear with a slight frown. “Not really enough time, but hopefully you can manage to enjoy some of it.” He said, leaning back and smirking again. Dorian went back to feeling flushed. “But we close in five minutes.” Of course you do, he thought. "If you want, I could show you where to get a good beer, if not good brandy.” Oh. your “luke and alaric are married af” series made me transcend. they absolutely ARE. when i watched the show i really expected them to be in a canon relationship bc. it just seemed obvious. (me and magnus: you mean you’re NOT married??????) i’m surprised it’s such a small ship tbh. there is so much potential... i would love to hear more from u!!!!! what ideas do u have? first dates? how does maia react (i bet she’s like... duh? you’re my dads)? the story of luke’s epiphany omg???
for real!!! the chemistry and the love between them was so real and palpable and like hello? the way they always were on each other's corner? the Partners to Lovers dynamic?? the obvious mutual respect they had even though they were always butting heads? the way they always seemed to be growing together and not just fighting??? again the CHEMISTRY?? the fun little snippets we had like "it's never too early for teriyaki"?? literally we had so much to build an amazing romance and alaric is such a minor character his actor isn't even an actor he's a stunt double
like they had what 5 scenes and they all had such a great setup for romance or even for them to have been married the whole time??? they certainly had old married couple dynamics. fuck jocelyn i am speaking her out of existence. also i mean open relationships but why would luke even have a relationship with jocelyn when he had an actually good relationship to compare it to?
also the potential of their getting together being tied up to some personal growth from luke as an alpha and a downworlder in general like... most of their conflicts was because a part of luke still felt indebted to shadowhunters and their heritage and he kept putting the wolves last, and it would have been so good to see luke slowly realizing that he doesn't owe them shit and he gets to prioritize his own people and the people who are there for him, and him eventually choosing alaric over jocelyn being tied to choosing himself as he is now to who he used to be as a (terrible) shadowhunter...
not that it's alaric's job to fix luke obviously, but i don't think it would be "fixing" and this definitely wouldn't be a "teaching luke out of racism" story because when luke helped alaric as he became a werewolf he was already somewhat settled into werewolf life. i just think that a part of luke feels like he still owes loyalty to the people who hated him and it could have been a nice parallel to see him letting this go and getting with alaric. especially because alaric never coddled him, so, you know. and i think luke needed that little push in that sense. and alaric meanwhile would also be growing more confident into his role in the pack and in their job and getting the support he obviously still needed, and like, it could have been so good? definitely rocky before they sorted it out, but good. and of course sh had to waste the opportunity without even giving it thought because when don't they
anyway!!! as for your actual questions! first date is honestly so hard for me because i feel like their first date would feel like their billionth date. again i say, THEY ARE MARRIED whether they know it or not. so i can see their first official date going one of two ways: it's very lowkey, nothing they haven't done a thousand times before (like going to a small little family restaurant that they like, eating together, talking, maybe sharing a milkshake and they feel stupid but they're giggling and can't stop smiling and it makes them so happy that who cares) and it's absolutely PERFECT; OR they try to go all out and make it special and ~woo~ each other and it feels a little weird at first but it's still good and they get to enjoy the romantic ambience, hold hands over the table, and they're both a little shy because it feels like such a leap but it feels right
im gonna elaborate a little bit on both because i really love both??? so like they go to this little joint that is not the jade wolf or anything too close because they want to have this moment for tHEMSELVES, away from wherever anyone else from work or the shadow world might see them and from where they would think about it and associate with it. i am thinking... ohh some nice little place near where alaric's grown up? i'm headcanoning him as hondureño since we got no specifics other than his last name being rodriguez and i'm feeling like making him central american
and ALSO a great typical honduran dish is marinated meat and since luke is a beef jerky fan he would be all over that shit. i headcanon that luke knows alaric's family to some extent (i made a very quick reference to that in the second fic of the series) and i really love to think that luke has been to at least a few carneadas with alaric and his family?? which is aaaaaa another whole thing to talk about i might get back to it in a second but the DATE
also i like to think that luke would fall in love with rice and beans/casamiento because that is my rights. so like them going to the restaurant and having some meat (it's not really a carneada outside of the context of a carneada and for a date but like.. maybe pinchos or ye regular steak with urucum? i've had that in central brazil a few times and god i love it to death. or maybe chimol which sounds like something luke would like) with casamiento, tajadas, u know, the regular stuff? and it's lowey intimate because they are sharing the dish and it's something from alaric's culture you know??? god damn it i'm still talking about food. ONTO THE DATE
the point is that it's very casual and intimate but also uplifting and fun because this is a honduran restaurant we are talking about, so there's probably music, noise, alaric knows the family that runs it and possibly luke does too but they still have their space. maybe they get to dance a little bit because please god i am begging you, and luke has never had too many opportunities to dance before but it turns out he is a natural even if a little self conscious. i am picturing them dancing salsa which i kNOW is not an honduran dance but if the restaurant just leaves a Latin Music™ radio on as they usually do in latino restaurants in the US it's not that unlikely that it would play. and with alaric not being actually cuban he wouldn't humiliate luke too much. lmao
anyway most of the time they are just talking and teasing each other and every time luke takes a bite of the food he moans a little bit because he's a sucker for marinated meat and alaric wasn't even the one to cook it but goddamn if he doesn't feel proud of himself. and they share a drink (i guess the milkshake idea doesn't fit as well here but whatever they will get two straws for their iced tea or Tropical if they're feeling silly or agua de ensalada if they're feeling traditional. the point is that the lack of milkshake won't stop them from doing their dumb sappy thing) and are kind of laughing the whole time because it feels so teenage-y but to be fair luke DID just find out he was bisexual and figuring out your sexuality always brings in second puberty in terms of experiences. and alaric is not going to complain because it feels so sweet and right
and then the dancing which is fun and intimate and a little challenging for luke even if they aren't Full On Dancing Salsa, just a few moves here and there together but they get to be close and intimate and maybe alaric does some impromptu spinning and it makes them both laugh and maybe rub their noses together while they laugh and they are being so silly but they don't care
and basically they go home after hours, as you do, holding hands and a little drunk on each other, bumping shoulders on the way, alaric resting his head on luke's shoulder and luke on top of alaric's? and it makes walking a little awkward but god They Don't Care. and it just feels so perfect, like home and family and everything they are to each other :))))
really wanna add an "and then they fuck like rabbits" at the end but anyway i'll try not to ruin it
second date option! full out fanciness. they are already partners, they have seen each other in every possible situation, they know their worse, they know their married ways, but they want to have a ROMANTIC first date! lay thick their new relationship status. woo each other! show each other what amazing caring boyfriends/husbands they are. be adults!
they pick some fancy restaurant that luke may or may not have gotten suggested to him by magnus when he called him in a bit of panic because he is not very well versed in fancy restaurants and the like. maybe magnus even takes that extra step and portals them somewhere extra romantic like venice or whatever but i think they'd want to be independent in terms of going there and back so maybe not. anyway the point is, fancy restaurant! suits! they are a bit more nervous than they usually would because they haven't been in a place like this in waaayyy too long and they've never done anything remotely similar to that together before so it feels like a new territory and they kiinda want to prove something even though that's stupid because they've already chosen each other
but it goes well???? not as natural as the first date idea but that might just be me and thinking that casualness is the most romantic thing, and either way, it still feels so right and good. they get to sip wine, hold hands over the table, say something sweet to each other over entrees, share dessert, bicker over who gets to pay. again the marriedness of it all absolutely slips through but there is that new element that they are getting to explore and that feels so nice
and it's never stilted and forced, even if they are a little nervous, they are still themselves and it goes down smoothly and they are happy that it worked so well because there is always that fear in a best friends to lovers kinda situation that things will just feel weird, especially when you're both adults and have so much history. but it doesn't, it feels romantic and new and exciting and as they leave they tease each other a little bit like "after you, gentleman" and laugh together 🥺🥺🥺
and they have their first kiss as they leave and they both linger a little bit as they just stand under the stars and keep their eyes closed and their hands linked together and i need a moment oh my god
this got too long so i'm separating the answers for the different questions: maia's reaction (link), luke's epiphany (link)

All is Found || Cece, Otto & Simon (Ft. Winn)
TIMING: Last Tuesday (Midday 5/26)
LOCATION: Otto’s Residence
PARTIES: @gravityfissure, @inconvenientsimonstrocity, @thebickedwitchoftherest (Ft. @packsbeforesnacks)
SUMMARY: Otto enlists the help of Cece to help track down Winn. Simon also joins the party to lend a claw and proceeds to be very confused. They form the Blood Buds.
Following the message and response from Ariana and Cece Otto had spent the better part of the afternoon running errands; gathering items and components necessary for casting the myriad of spells to try and decipher a location on where Winn might’ve gone. Something gave him the sneaking suspicion it wouldn’t be easy, but a contract was a contract and he’d follow through to see it done. With the furniture shunted to each side of the room it left the expanse of wooden floors exposed. A blank canvas for Cece and himself to work from. By the time the knock came from the door, he was already three-quarters through the process of drawing the necessary casting circles and runes inscriptions into each sublayer of the circle and their own subsections. He set the chalk down, getting up and going over to the door unlatching it and tugging it open. “Good timing,” he said as he stepped back waving the two one “I’m almost done with the sigils.” He didn’t recognise the man with Cece, but figured he must be a wolf and his next words were directed to him, direct and to the point “you have the focus and the hair?”
The last few days had been a whirlwind for emotions and other things for Simon but despite all the nothing he was turning into problems and all the damage control he felt like he was running to keep the other wolves, notably the younger ones, from flipping out and making irrational decisions, he struggled not to drop everything he was doing the moment he received that text from Ariana regarding… well, he wasn’t sure but she gave him instructions and a location so he got to work. He headed to Winn’s house and after spending at least an hour sniffing about both literally and figuratively in Winn’s wolf-smelling, dog-dander-covered house, having to pause frequently to get himself under control but feeling the ability to do so since he was alone, he managed to recover some scraps of the man’s hair in a well-used brush. Finding something ‘important’ took a little longer if only because Winn didn’t HAVE that many knick-knacks. He was able to glean through his… investigative abilities that Winn had a penchant for hockey and at the end of this specific trail, he was deciding between the smashed phone and what seemed to be the part of the hockey stick that you hit the puck with, whatever that was called… he was never into sports. Phone… Hockey bit? He decided on the latter and hurried off. Sincerely hoping that this Otto didn’t have a dog as he drove to the location Ariana had given him, he wondered what exactly was happening. What all would a tracking spell DO? Would this work? What if he got the wrong items? What if… Winn didn’t WANT to be found? That thought ran through his head several times the past couple days, which he figured was part of why he was so even-tempered about this whole thing. He saw Cece’s car and knowing she was going to be there quelled some of Simon’s apprehension and he approached the door to find Cece already there and knocking where he was content to linger just behind her, waiting for her to see him. The door was answered and the man he assumed was Otto immediately brought them into the conversation about sigils and… focus? Hair-- oh wait he had that. He didn’t respond with words but timidly held out the piece of the stick and the hair, each in one hand. He didn’t know what was going on but he was already intimidated.
There was a lot to unpack today. That Winn had run off. That Winn was a werewolf. Speaking of, Cece giggled to herself. Unpack. Pack. She killed herself. She stood behind Otto’s door, laughing at her own inner dialogue as she knocked on it, waiting for him to answer. She realized a moment too late that someone had been hovering behind her and turned to find Simon standing just feet away from her silently, “Fuck me!” she yelled out instinctively, covering her heart and whistling through the surprised gasps of breath, “Simon. When did you get here and why would you do that?” But then Otto answered the door, and the two were heading inside.
“Ooh, you set up mood lighting and art for every person you invite over to your place or are Simon and I just special?” Cece winked, dropping her own bag onto a nearby couch and beginning to unfold the large pieces of paper she had brought with us. “I brought some maps with me. If he skipped town, we should be able to use this to try to pinpoint a general area where he is. A city or location maybe.” Cece knew if she was skipping town she wouldn’t stick around Maine. She would be across the country by now. “What brings you here Simon? Just dropping off the wig? You helping out with the spell?”
As with most things in life, there was a degree of uncertainty in everything that may or may not come to pass. Winn may very well have taken steps to shield himself from being found by magical means, but something about the rush in which he’d left – by the information he’d gleaned from the wolves involved, made Otto suspect he likely hadn’t. But dwelling on hypotheticals would hardly do anyone any measure of good. Magic and uncertainty were not two things you ever wished to mix unless you seriously wanted to do the dance between major bodily and mental harm. So, such thoughts were compartmentalised and set aside for further analysis later.
He took in the mini-scene outside his door with a single look, his brown eyes flickering between Cece and Simon he presumed; They hadn’t met, but it was easy enough to figure considering he was here at the specified time. He also noted how the latter looked downright set to bolt at the first sign of something going awry, smart really though it didn’t help the fact he looked like a kicked dog with its tail between its legs. “Strong and silent type, huh? Or well…” Otto’s eyes flicked up and down again in a gauging look, though his smile turned a little coy regardless, “silent type… I can work with that” he quipped holding out a bowl into which the items were deposited before rapidly being retracted.
He spun fluidly on his heel, a tornado of graceful yet chaotic movement retreating back into the apartment to set the bowl with the other ingredients set out on the table though Cece’s remark made him chuckle. “Oh you should know the mood lighting is only for special occasions darling. All about the theatrics” The mention of a map made him nod, rubbing his hands together “nice idea, and we should hopefully be able to use the shard as a focus for a scry.”
The thought of being called sarcastically ‘special’ by Cece didn’t sit with Simon as well as Otto’s remark about being the ‘silent’ type; this guy named Otto was… he wasn’t sure if ‘forward’ was the right word but he decidedly carried an air about him, confident and showy. With a couple questions he was asked but not feeling as though it was the appropriate time to answer floating in his head and a distinct feeling that maybe he should leave, Simon relegated himself to ‘lost dog’ and followed Cece around for a moment before pausing near the couch where she set her stuff. Talk of scrying, shards, maps… he supposed the discussion wasn’t entirely unusual but he had to admit that with all things, he was out of his league with these strong personalities - which was fine, but… “Am I in anyone’s way?” He found himself asking quietly, not sure where to look at Cece or Otto so his gaze flickered between them before settling for the floor. He wanted to mention that he’d liked to have stayed because he was just as invested in finding out Winn’s whereabouts than anyone else though if you asked ‘why’, his explanation probably would’ve amounted to something stupid and foolish like… well, the details weren’t important.
The spell shouldn’t be too hard, with both Otto and Cece working their magic on it. The farther away Winn was, the harder the spell would be to pinpoint. Further distance meant a broader view. It would be harder to get an exact location on him. Of course, there were ways to get the answer they were looking for, but it may take a bit more work. “What’s your game plan? Tracking magic isn’t an exact science. There’s different ways to go about it.” Cece paced back and forth, considering their options before snapping her fingers and point between the two, “Blood magic! That’s our best bet. Blood magic? Blood magic?” Cece repeated, asking both of them with a grin. It was perfect. Whether Otto was keen on the connection or not, werewolf blood to help track a werewolf could only help strengthen the spell. Cece wasn’t about to out Simon, but using supernatural blood to help a ritual always helped regardless. “Simon, I found a use for you. We’re all becoming blood sisters tonight!”
“Nope, actually, provide a rather nice view,” Otto chimed cheekily in response to Simon but his focus was split between the pair especially as Cece paced, mulling over potential options for what they could do. While this happened, Otto returned to the circle to finish inscribing the necessary runes for later. “I figured we could track using the maps, and then narrow it down with a scry” he gestured to the patterns of intertwining circles and triangles that marked his floor. But the snapping of Cece’s fingers and her exclamation caused his brows to tick up a little, “ohh arcane and taboo? Ce, you know just how to tempt me.” Granted it wasn’t his strongest form of magic, but given what they were attempting it made sense and at the addition of using Simon’s blood as well to fortify their magic?
“Even better! Simon, you don’t mind being blood buds do you?” Of course, he could say no but it would make their work a lot harder and Otto was already moving before he got an actual answer. “Wonderful, let me just--” he clapped his hands and shot across the room to a bookshelf from which he haphazardly pulled several dull and apparently uninspiring modern-looking cookbooks. Each individually glamoured to conceal a grimoire’s contents within. “I’m sure I have a spell like that somewhere… Let me--” he rifled through pages of one, tossed it onto the counter with a scoff before he was leafing through the second “ah gotcha! What about this? Done right it’ll cause the blood to move over the map and mark his location?”
There was an ever-so-slight furrow of Simon’s brow; so he was a flirt, if only a superficial one. Had he-- well no, he supposed he hadn’t ever been flirted with before, or rather no one had ever commented on his appearance being ‘nice’ with the exception of Ariana and she didn’t count. He shook that admittedly-distracting comment from his head at the repeated mention of blood magic, which made him straighten up slightly. “Come again?” He asked rather dumbly, quirking an eyebrow as his gaze moved up from the floor and shifted between Otto and Cece. Blood buds? Blood SISTERS? What kind of magic-- ARCANE AND TABOO? Was-- were they-- His hand subconsciously reached up to scratch at the scars on his shoulder, hidden beneath the layers of clothing as he felt himself getting nervous, a sentiment he had the feeling was only being expressed by himself. He hadn’t heard about blood magic being used so casually. Then again, he hadn’t ever heard of ANY magic being used so casually. Were they breaking the law? What did ‘taboo’ mean in this context? Why did they need HIS blood? Where would they pull it from? How much did they need? “S... sure,” He ended up saying, conflicting all his previous thoughts though he was still fidgeting.
“Don’t be a baby, It’s not like we’re about to slice your throat or something.” Cece waved Simon off. She had hung out with him enough by now. He seemed to go with the flow. Sure, a magical ritual using blood was a little different from grabbing a drink. But all things considered, it wasn’t all that crazier than getting attacked by mime clones. As far as craziness went, this was a solid six at best. “Just a few drops should do.” When Simon finally agreed, Cece clapped her hands together excitedly and found her spot on the floor. “With the three of us, this shouldn’t be too bad. Simon, you’re a newbie.” She turned to him, walking him through the steps as Otto finished setting up, “Spells use power. We feed that power with our own energy. Even though you may not know exactly what Otto and I are doing, we just need you to focus. Using your energy is going to help feed the spell and make it stronger.” She neglected to mention that being a werewolf inherently made the spell stronger as well. The heightened endurance and strength would help the power of the spell and the similar species would help tracking. It would piece itself together. “Otto and I will start the spell. Weird things may start happening. The candles may flicker or change colors, breeze may pick up, the sigils may glow. Shit like that. You just need to try to ignore that and focus on one thing. Winn. We have to focus on that stuff you brought us so we can home in on Winn.” It was a pretty barren rundown, but with the little time they had, it was the best that Simon was about to get. “Ready to get started?”
It wasn’t hard to tell Simon was uncomfortable with the idea, unfortunately, it was a necessary addition for the likelihood of this speed to be increased. Spells were like that, they needed sacrifice. Otto fetched a small swiss army knife - useful for any modern day spellcaster taking a moment to use the fire from the hob to sterilise the small inch long blade. Cece did a good enough job giving Simon the crash course keynotes speech while Otto put the maps on the ground in the middle of the circle, he also lit several candles around specific points connecting their bases with an inch wide trail of sand. “Always, Ce, you go there” he pointed to an empty circle on the opposite side of the map large enough for a person to fit in sitting down he then pointed to a similarly sized circle to the right “Simon there please.” He waited for them to settle, putting out a few sprigs of incense in a silver bowl “Ce you can light the incense - at the same time Simon you’ll need to make a small cut - your finger should do, let the droplets fall on the map, after that stay in the circle. No matter what happens,” Unlike the effervescent personality from before Otto now seemed rather serious in his request.
He thought he might’ve been anticipating something more drastic the way he reacted but this wasn’t that much different than the magic Winston used to forge those invisible scissors. Simon, now aware of his job, took the explanation well and gave a small, decidedly more certain nod at Cece’s explanation. He took the knife from Otto and took his place over at his designated circle. Draw a little blood, make sure it falls on the map, stay in the circle, focus. Focus on Winn. That seemed easy enough seeing as how he couldn’t get the werewolf’s scent out of his nose - or rather, it wouldn’t leave. Once he was standing in the circle, he held the knife to his finger firmly, keeping his eyes on Cece to light the incense. Focus.
Time to get things rolling. Cece sat in the circle Otto had designated for her and eyed Simon as he followed Otto’s instructions, standing in his own circle with the knife in hand. It wasn’t ideal, making a newbie be an integral part of the spell. But it was the best bet they had to strengthen the spell. “Let’s track this bitch.” Cece smirked one last time before lighting the incense, queuing Simon to draw the blood and Otto to start the chanting. Things took off quickly from there. The candles around the room died out immediately, returning seconds later a brilliant blue color and casting the room in an almost eerie glow. Blood dripped from Simon’s hand and onto the map. Cece joined Otto’s chants, keeping one eye closed and the other peeping open to study the map. Wind picked up around the three, and Cece could see the drop of blood starting to slide across the paper. It left no trail, no smears to indicate that it had even shifted from its original position. The only way you would know is if you had been watching it. “Keep focusing” Cece broke from the chanting momentarily to remind Simon to keep his cool and stay in the circle. She rejoined, eye still glued to the drop of blood sliding further and further away from Maine and down the east coast. “When the blood sticks, that’s how we know we’re close.”
Magic existed in all things; simply an unperceived element that helped to stabilise the universe in its constant state of flux. Every elemental particle was tethered and affected by every other molecule in space by infinite indivisible threads. These were threads that could be manipulated if you knew just the right one to pluck on. As the scent of burning lavender filled his senses his eyes closed and he felt himself relax into the comforting familiarity of his connection with those tethers calling on them to guide. He didn’t look to the map, instead, keeping his focus on the infinite weave and the way just a few tethers seemed to glow a fraction brighter. Tempting and informative in their own way, and his mind reached out, searching to connect to a path he could not yet see but a path that traced across the map regardless in the form of a small circlet of crimson. The trail moved, and moved, its spread slowing to a crawl before coming to rest over Georgtown, WA. Stuck and seemingly not intent to budge. Feeling the warmth of his magic begin to fade, there was a familiar pang of desire to stay connected. But therein lay the danger of tapping into higher powers. It got addictive if you didn’t know how to utilise it in moderation. Opening his eyes, the candles shuddered back to a soft amber flame. “Georgtown mean anything to you or Winn?” Otto asked Simon after a moment, not knowing anything about the place himself.
And thus, it began. When Simon saw her light the incense, he did part of his job and made an incision - perhaps a little bigger and deeper than it needed to be - and he held his arm out for the blood, closing his eyes for a moment. Winn; tall guy, carried himself like a true jock and spoke like one, too. His face, his musculature, how he sounded when he was overwhelmed with everything, how he held his beer bottle, what he smelled like, what sort of person he was to make all of this happen in the first place. His breathing was as regulated as it could’ve been. He felt something tugging at him, perhaps subconsciously but he kept himself planted into place, holding steady against his surroundings. He didn’t open his own eyes or entertain any other thoughts until he heard Otto say the name of a place and he exhaled softly, glancing over to the magician. “It doesn’t mean anything to me,” He admitted first, trying to think of what that COULD’VE meant. He really wasn’t the right person for this; he and Winn knew each other tangentially at best and Simon’s tendency to unintentionally pry hadn’t reached Winn yet. “It might have something to do with Winn’s past, though,” He added, remembering that Winn had mentioned small bits of his history at the meeting.
Georgetown. It wasn’t a place that Cece had personally been familiar with. She had traveled that way for a short amount of time. A few weeks or so, but the stay hadn’t been long enough that she remembered much of it. “Well it certainly narrowed it down.” Cece offered, a piece of positive news during the man’s disappearance. For a moment, Cece considered whether or not she should be helping track him down like that. She certainly wouldn’t have liked the same thing being done to her, especially if her old coven was involved. Of course, running from the supernatural came with a list of musts. Learning how to throw off a tracking spell was one of them. The next time Winn wanted to leave without a trace, he may want to consider that. “Still, an entire neighbourhood doesn’t help us. Especially if he’s still moving.” She sat back, rubbing at her chin as she thought. “Not that I know the dude much, but he travelled all over the place back before coming to Maine. He probably has connections all over.” That didn’t help either, knowing that he could be going anywhere right now. “Okay, we need something else. A bit more specific. What you got Otto?”
Otto hadn’t even met this Winn guy, other than their brief conversations online. So he could neither interpret nor contribute much to the reasoning as to why Winn was there. “Yeah, I guess” he rubbed his chin in thought but ultimately, he wasn’t here to ask questions. Just do a job and collect some favours to bank for later. It never hurt having a few wolves owing you for things. Connections were everything in life. “It’s something though, at least we know he didn’t leg it and book a flight across the oceans. So… There’s that.” But the next question had him reaching for the other items that Simon had brought along. The hair in the bowl and the hockey stick. “I was thinking a scry, it might work but it also might not… but, the fact we’ve got a piece of the person we’re tracking,” he gestured to the hair “will boost our chances of success.” He looked between Simon and Cece, “the same thing goes. Keep Winn on your mind, and if the spell works you’ll feel a pulling sensation - like something is trying to rip you across the country… Don’t fight it, let it take you and we’ll get a glimpse of whatever he’s doing right now.” He didn’t mention the potential complications, like getting stuck in the scry and not being able to get back out without further assistance or the potential mental hazards it posed risk to. No need to get either of them overly concerned.
Aaaand it didn’t seem like they got anywhere. Simon was glad that he was there entertaining this waste of time instead of someone more brash like Ariana. He remained in his designated circle, subconsciously licking at the incision on his thumb as he ran the name “Georgetown” through his head on repeat and admittedly starting to zone out as he realized with frustration that he didn’t know much about Winn at all aside from how casually he seemed to treat being a wolf, his dog and that he’s really into hockey. He… would need to rectify this once Winn came back. He brought himself back to the conversation as Otto and Cece discussed further, expecting to be told that there wasn’t anything to do and to go home but then the topic shifted to scrying and he glanced between the two magic-users again. “Sorry, I was miles away,” He partially lied. “What are we doing, now?”
A locator spell was vague enough that it generally was used as foundations for other spells to build upon, the more information you had to work with and cover more bases the better chance a spell would be stable and less risky. It didn’t eliminate the entire possibility of things going very badly wrong, but it lowered the odds of that happening. “All good,” Otto said looking over to Simon “a scry is… Okay, so imagine if you dropped a single video camera wherever Winn is right now, then imagine we” he gestured to the collective “could hack that camera and see and hear through it. Right?” Otto paused to make sure Simon was following his keynotes version of what the spell was “A scry is a spell that essentially does that, gives us a one angle insight into whatever Winn is doing right now - it’s more accurate depending on what you use to focus in on whoever the target of the scry happens to be.” He pointed to the bowl of hair “this is some of the most accurate stuff we could use. That’s why we are. But I don’t know how long we’ll have… Scry spells are notoriously temperamental for how long they let you view… So we’re all going to have to keep our eyes open and look for any other indicator that might give us more information to narrow it down - a sign, shopfront, streetname - anything.”
The tracking spell had helped narrow down the search, but it hadn’t given them all the information they needed. But never fret, because Otto had another idea. A spell that Cece had never personally performed. She let out a low whistle, “A scry? Haven’t done one of those before. Guess you can teach an old dog some new tricks.” She shifted, swaying around as if she were dancing while still sitting on the floor. “The college is there. Keep an eye out for old buildings. They’re all named after the rich people that funded them.” She kept an eye on Simon. This all seemed new to him. She would need to check back in with him after, make sure they hadn’t scared him off. “Well you’re definitely in charge with this one Otto. Let’s figure out with this S.O.B is, yeah?”
Simon, back into the conversation, nodded as he listened to Otto carefully, inwardly thankful for using terms he was receptive to; Simon didn’t think himself a stupid man by any stretch of the imagination but magic was very foreign to him. Once Otto explained and Cece seemed to acknowledge that the scry would’ve been a good idea, albeit one that she’d never done before, he exhaled quietly and nodded. “Okay. You guys are the bosses; I’m just…” Here because no one else wants to bother. Here because everyone else is either mad or too busy with actual important things. No one seemed to even want to find him that badly anymore.“Here.” He completed his sentence. “Just tell me what you need me to do.”
Otto shot a wink at Cece, encouraged by her faith and his own belief that they had enough to at least get a bit more information out of today. “Just copy what I do,” he instructed her and once he had confirmation moved the map out of the circle leaving the silver chalice containing the locks of hair set before them. To this he added a measured dose of oil of sulphur and crushed charcoal, mixing the contents and once he was happy that they were combined lit the contents with a zippo. The oil caught light immediately, burning a bright sulphurous red “so glad I switched off the fire alarm,” he muttered, drawing his hands back. His palms pressed together in an almost prayer-like motion before parting fluidly so the tips of both index fingers and thumbs remained in contact formulating a circle, the center of which a violet like shimmer began to emanate. The threads of his magic making themselves known as he set about manipulating them to his will pulling and threading. The power felt bolstered, more powerful than if he had tried to attempt this by himself and he knew that was likely Cece’s own magic reinforcing the spell. With a look of concentration he spoke “ex quae vires sint. Da illis qui hic visus.” The magic from both spellcasters, sat in opposition, flared before extending to connect to the burning concoction. Otto felt the sudden gut-wrenching jolt akin to the sickening moment of inertial release at the peak of a roller-coaster; thrown over the edge into the exhilarating and disorientating drop. It was enough to force him to close his eyes, feeling his consciousness ripped from the loft and the rush of air as they were projected across the country towards wherever the spell thought to take them.
“Don’t worry, dude. You’re contributing.” Cece reassured Simon, making sure he knew that he had a place in this little seance circle that Otto had gathered together. “Magic or not, extra bodies means more energy. That makes a spell stronger. And it prevents the two of us,” Cece explained, pointing between Otto and herself, “From crashing after a spell. So keep what you’ve been doing. You’re coming on this roller coaster with us.” With that, Cece focused her attention to Otto mirroring his movements and catching the moment that the spell began. It felt like a vacuum. It was barely noticeable, but Cece could almost tell that her own energy was helping feed into the spell. She eased it along, controlling the flow so that it felt balanced as she breathed and continued helping Otto work his magic. The fire flared higher, proof that Otto’s spell was working. And then, a sudden feeling of complete weightlessness was proof enough that they weren’t in the apartment any longer.
It started in static, almost, magic pushing back on the spell, trying to protect the location where the scry had found its target.
But, slowly, the trio found themselves in an office. Its bookshelves were empty, boxes stacked in the corner. Save for two figures, no one would believe that this room had been used in ages, the only signs of a purpose: a desk and two chairs. Winn Woods, werewolf-on-the-lam, stood slowly, eyes wide, and stared at the other figure warily. Someone who was looking closely would see that Winn was caught in a state of partial transformation, claws out, form tense.
The other man was dressed plainly, jeans and a button-down, and his face was serious. He was Asian, his jawline near identical to Winn’s. But the trio did not have time to regard him fully. Spectral tails appeared behind the man, a bright light into the dim room. The three tails closest to the man’s body were near-solid, yellow, and burning bright, flickering like candlelight.
Winn scrambled, holding one of the chairs in front of him like a shield against this man, jaw slack and brows tight with confusion. Another flash, as the tails wrapped around the man, a cocoon, a transformation…
And then, a jolt of magic leapt from the corner of the room, water dousing the flames of the spell, a cold splash of force in the trio’s faces as they were pushed back to White Crest, no closer to a satisfactory answer.
Simon decided then and there with certainty that he liked Cece’s energy and the effect it seemed to have on himself. Granted, both she and Otto, comments aside, seemed like perfectly enjoyable human beings outside a professional setting. He looked around at all the pieces on motion as the two magicians started to perform the other ritual and unlike last time, he did feel something inside, something almost as if someone were reaching into him and pulling out webs of… himself. It was an odd sensation. Then, without warning, he felt like was being yanked by that invisible bond that tethered Lydia and himself, completely internally and turning his stomach over. He also closed his eyes, biting down on the thumb that lingered around his mouth instinctively as he was hurled through the consciousness and they… found Winn. The scene happened, quick and flitting and altogether far too short before they were pushed back out and he gasped as though he himself was doused in icy water. He caught enough details of what happened though, brief as the visions were; a man, Winn’s wolfish features, what appeared to be a demon or something with a demonic presence attached. Surely not, right? Well, at least that confirmed that he wasn’t… dead? Simon already knew that. “What… was that?” He asked, scratching at his shoulder again.
The lurch of the scry was a sickening sensation, and one he wasn’t quite braced for as after they’d successfully broken through they… Were very promptly kicked out, flung back across the continent and back into Otto’s apartment. He came back to himself with a sharp inhale of air, a distorted sense of self and sudden wave of nausea that he had to raise a hand to his mouth to try and hold off. It took a few moments of focussing on his breathing and getting the room to right itself before he was confident he wasn’t about to spew. That would be embarrassing. He’d been a part of enough scrys to know the sensation was always a shitty one, and it never got better.
“Fuck,” he growled, fists clenching in frustration as he was sorely tempted to knock the damn thing over. Good lot of use it had done. “If I had to guess… That was a Huxian… A kitsune if you will… The fox-tails would suggest so…” He rubbed his fingers along his lip in thought. He’d had several run ins with Kitsune in New York, all contracting him for work on behalf of their organisations. “The fuck’s he doing… And the place had to be warded… That’s the only way the spell could be rejected so quickly…  There wasn’t enough time to counterspell.” None of this made any sort of sense and it only served to mount his frustration. “I’m… at a loss for what else we can do…” It wasn’t like they could jump cross country and the latter spell had drained him enough that he felt a massive order of cheeseburgers and fries was on the menu later.
Well that was certainly… something. Cece was jolted back to Otto’s apartment, feeling as if she had just left her body for a short amount of time. Shorter than any of them seemed to expect. “We were cut off.” Cece exclaimed. Otto took over, explaining the man they had seen within that office and the suspected reason they were kicked out so quickly. It made sense, though it wasn’t ideal. They had been able to get through the protection, if only temporarily. Cece had a few theories. That Simon and Cece knew Winn personally. That Simon’s similar species strengthened the spell. The personal items that Simon had brought with him. Though the answer didn’t matter because regardless, it had only granted them temporary access.
But maybe that had been enough. “Maybe we don’t need to.” Cece pondered, finally pushing herself up from the circle she had been nested in on the floor. Her legs were weak, proof that the spell had taken a lot out of her. “Whoever that guy was, he was in some sort of office.” Cece needed to find the context clues. The room looked packed up, like the man was leaving. Or maybe unpacked, like he was just moving in. But regardless, a few things were apparent. It was filled with bookshelves and a window looking out into green. “It’s a reach, but it’s Georgetown.” The limited layout of the room didn’t provide any clear answers, but it could have been a professor’s office, “It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume that he’s a Professor at Georgetown.” She shrugged it off. At the end of the day, finding Winn hadn’t been her priority. Just helping out a friend. She still wasn’t sure how he got dragged into searching for Winn anyways, or if Winn had a good reason to leave. All she knew was that the spell had left her tired and hungry, “Who wants takeout?”
Simon reviewed the knowledge that had been given to him throughout this exchange - Georgetown, partial transformation, Huxian (kitsune?). Technically the questions the wolves had were answered, or at least some of them. Winn was alive, he was dealing with… something that he didn’t like, and he was in Georgetown. He exhaled as his eyes danced over the chalk lines on the flor before he gave a noncommittal shrug and he gave Cece a rather tired smile of his own. “Sorry to drag you guys into wolves’ business...” He did what he could, however nothing that was, as usual. He felt drained - three rituals in two weeks after a whole life of none, damage control for Winn’s poor decisions, the dog and work being a literal mess felt like he was spinning a lot of plates on spindles and more plates just kept getting added. He… didn’t want to talk about it. “Takeout sounds great.” He was done for today. Winn would come back and explain himself, he was almost certain of it. Right now, all he wanted to do was eat and not think about it.

Note
for the country meme: 4, 8, 10, 13, 15, 22?
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Answered!
8. do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?
I think a lot of people who don't have a lot of knowledge about European countries often confuse us with Russians.
On a related note, it's Ukraine and not “the Ukraine”, period. I recently discovered that a lot of media say “the Ukraine” and it’s just wrong.
10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
I think a lot of our swear words are similar to the ones in Russian, which many internet residents might have heard of 😅 But there are some particularly Ukrainian swear expressions that sound really funny. It's hard to explain them in English, but I crack up whenever my friends say them.
13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
My family isn't very traditional, but there are some popular traditions and holidays in our country. We actually celebrate Christmas on January 7th unlike the English-speaking world, and it has more of a religious than commercial vibe. The traditional Christmas dinner includes 12 dishes, and many people dress in national clothes. It's especially prominent in villages.
There's also a holiday in July called Ivana Kupala where you dress in national clothes and go to a dance, and I think that people are supposed to splash each other with water. Additionally, the boldest ones could jump over the fire. I celebrated it a few times at the camps, and some people actually jumped, even though I didn't. Off the top of my head, we also have an apple holiday in August and the one in December when girls are supposed to gather and tell fortunes about their love life.
15. a saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get
We have a lot of interesting sayings that are hard to understand for the foreigners and would take too long to explain. I'll talk about something different, though, as I remembered this story and it's a really fun memory for me.
There's this popular singer who's in his 40s (I think?). He's actually quite talented, though I don't listen to him at all and only know one or two songs that are a meme here. But the funny part is that his audience is mostly middle-aged women who find him attractive and buy tickets to his concerts in every city just to see him. People often make fun of it, seeing how his fanbase is actually called “young female wolves” after one of his songs (we have a particular word for female wolves, it doesn't sound that awkward), and they are so obsessively protective of him. It's a popular topic for joking in our country, they even do on TV.
I remember when I was at the camp last summer, one of the American counselors staged an improv scene with funny prompts where roles were distributed randomly, and I got to play this singer (the American knew the whole deal with him being such a meme and included him in the roles). It was quite hilarious because I even share a hairstyle with him (I have blonde hair that was almost shoulder-length at the moment, though I got a haircut since then, and he styles it in a similar way). Later, this American awkwardly asked me “um... what's a young female wolf?” (because I mentioned this in my acting), and it was really funny how I tried to explain to him that is what his hardcore fanbase is called.
After that, I played him in a few other stagings and my team kept joking that we are one. Moreover, I got my other team at the winter camp to translate his most popular meme song into English and sing it together, and my friend who was in the next room said “as soon as I heard it, I knew it was your doing” 😂
There are some other singers who people often joke at (some of them even embraced their role of a meme). I wish it was just as funny to non-Ukrainians as it is to me.
22. what makes you proud about your country? what makes you ashamed?
The culture dates thousands of years back, and it's incredible. We have amazing nature and plenty of historical places of interest. There are also a lot of talented and motivated people who want to make the country a better place. Our language is also beautiful, it's one of the most melodic and poetic languages. I'm not a huge fan of classic Ukrainian literature as it is often just doom and gloom, but I love the poetry. I have some favourite poems that hold a place in my heart. I'm also very proud when we take a step forward towards European integration, since there's still a long way to go.
Ashamed... politicians, as we're always top every “most corrupt countries” rating. Also sexism, racism, homophobia etc. Overall many people seem to have this “holier than thou” attitude and feel like they have a right to judge others. But I think many countries struggle with it and it's not specific to mine.
Thanks, those were interesting questions!

Predictions for Zombies 3 - Alien Encounters
Note: I will be touching on some details from my previous Zombies 2 post, I suggest you read that first to get a better understanding.
Zombies 2 left us on quite a cliffhanger, which has left many of us wondering what happens next? So, I thought I’d provide an idea of what I think might happen in the potential sequel. (For those of you who didn't read the note above, I am planning to touch a few concepts I covered in my last Zombies post.)
Assuming the theory about Addison coming from another planet is true, Seabrook’s newest students would likely have crash landed on the celestial object at the end of Zombies 2. Now I don’t want to touch on the particulars of all these extraterrestrial visitors, but at least one among them is in line to inherit the throne with an ego to rival Bucky’s. They arrive on Earth for diplomatic purposes and since Seabrook High is known for it’s special intercultural program, the planetary council has deemed it a worthy place to school their heir apparent. Because of the importance of this new student, the school pulls out all the stops to make him/her feel welcome, including having the cheer squad prepare a welcome performance. As the new cheer captain, planning the routine falls onto Addison, but during one of their jumps, her hair suddenly begins to glow like it did in Zombies 2 and she finds herself floating ten feet off the ground. Being the paranoid town that it is, the cheer squad runs away screaming at the sight of a floating Addison, with the exception of Bree, Bonzo, Wynter and Wyatt. A couple of them send for help, while the rest are trying to keep an understandably panicked and confused Addison calm. Zed, Eliza and Willa shortly arrive on the scene and are also bewildered at the sight. After a few hilarious attempts to get Addison down, the glow of her hair begins to die down and she falls down into the arms of her boyfriend. Addison explains another time where her hair was glowing, but instead of causing her to float she nearly caused a power outage in her house. The white haired cheerleader is flooded with panic as she begins to display feats that have never been performed by Wolf or Zombie. Zed and company try to reassure her that they would get to the bottom of this and that she could count on them no matter what. The gang initially suspects that this could have been caused by coming in contact with the Moonstone, but the Wolves tell them that humans have never been affected by it in that way.
Note: The main thing to remember about this scene is how Addison has always felt out of place because of her hair, and thus she is tentative to reveal the incident with the power outage. But she is reassured at the thought that she is surround on people who accept her and that she can rely on.
It is the aliens first day of school, and they prove to be a rather suspicious lot who think quite highly of themselves. The young royal in particular seems uncomfortable at the idea of being surrounded by all these humans, zombies and werewolves, but they at least try to be polite. The majority of the school reciprocate the discomfort, but Addison and her friends keep a friendly attitude. Meanwhile, there are nasty rumors about Addison were spreading after the levitation incident because of that less people show up for cheer practice. The cheer captain tries to put on a brave face, but as her anxiety grows she discovers new abilities with no means to control them like short circuiting electronics or releasing energy blasts.
Note: I am basing this prediction off of the “Addison is an alien” theory, but the reason the other aliens don’t recognize her as one of their own is because while their are white haired people on their planet it’s about as rare as a natural human redhead. So, the others would have hair that would be in a light blue.
Later the wolves throw a party in their den, where they invite their human and zombie friends. Addison decides to invite the aliens because she doesn’t want them to feel left out. At first, the aliens keep to themselves, but, with a little encouragement from Addison and friends, they slowly start to get into the spirit of the party. Until, the party is interrupted by the aliens adult guardian, who specifically berates the heir to the throne for being so irresponsible. Addison steps up defending him, telling the elder alien that their future leader is still young and is allowed to have fun once in a while. The guardian looks at Addison as if he almost recognizes her, but he tries not to show it. Instead, he scoffs at her comment and lets them continue with their festivities. The aliens thank Addison for their support, and the heir to the throne particularly opens up to her about how he or she feels uneasy about the idea of becoming a leader, especially when it was originally his/her long lost sister that was supposed to rise to power. The future monarch explains how the two siblings arrived to Earth years ago with their mother to monitor signs of alien energy (the Moonstone), but they were attacked, the heir to the throne doesn’t remember much about it, but the mother was lost and the sister was never found. Addison tries to cheer him/her up with a song and dance, that’s when her hair starts glowing and she begins to levitate. The aliens quickly recognize Addison as one of their own, but are unsure whether they should tell her or not. The Aceys catch wind of this and soon they start telling the whole school about it and Seabrook High starts to fear her even more. Eventually, Addison becomes so overwhelmed that her powers begin to lash out at the people she loves, so she decides to run away and learn to control her powers on her own, while her friends are trying to figure out where they came from while tracking her down.
Addison runs into the aliens, who reveal to her their beliefs and help her learn to control her power. Meanwhile, her friends discover some damaged computer files near the ruins of the Seabrook power plant. Eliza uses her tech skills to restore them and they find a troubling video of Addison’s parents...
As Addison trains with the aliens, she discovers a picture of the queen and her two children, then she suddenly gets memory flashes and realizes that she is the long lost sister. When the aliens’ elder guardian discovered this, he uses this information as a means of warning the Earth that they will be taking their vengeance, unbeknownst to his young charges. Addison becomes worried about her friends and decides to let them know that she’s okay. When she does find them, she discovers the video and learned that her parents were there when the queen and her children were attacked. The Z-Patrol thought the aliens were part of a zombie escape, so they chased them down somewhere near the Forbidden Forest. They had found Addison somewhere in the woods with no memory, and since no one was able to identify her they decided take her in. While Addison is left speechless, the other aliens happened to be eavesdropping on the conversation and blamed the entire town for what happened to them. The aliens tried to attack, but Addison quickly blocked them, stating that fighting each other won’t change what happened and that the incident occurred years ago. The aliens, however, were not so ready to forget, they prompted Addison to join them, but she didn’t want to fight her friends. Then the extraterrestrials told her that she didn’t need to be part of the battle, but they wanted to take her to their home planet, where she would find people just like her as she always wanted, the heir to the throne even emphasized that family should stay together. Zed and the others wanted to protest this, but the aliens had an immobilization power. Addison eventually relented to go with them and once they left the immobilization power wore off. Word spread fast about the alien attack, so Seabrook was on high alert, which also caused the Zombies, humans, and Werewolves to become divided once more. In spite of this aura of separation, the main cast remains strongly united as they are reminded of how Addison brought them together and that now, she needed them.
While the aliens were planning their attack, Addison peeled herself away from them for a moment, and discovered that the incident that caused the royal siblings to lose their mother was due to the betrayal of their current guardian. He took on the responsibility of raising the current heir to the throne because he saw an easy mark to manipulate and thought that the young Addison was too difficult to control. She was about to reveal this to the others, when the guardian caught her in the act and convinced everyone that she had turned against her own people. Addison was placed in a prison that nullified her powers, but she discovered that she was able to use her Moonstone necklace to communicate with the Werewolves. Her friends were able to track her down and free her from her prison. They then tried to convince Addison’s younger royal sibling about the truth about what happened all those years ago, it took some convincing, but eventually they got through. They confronted the traitor defeated him through collaboration and teamwork.
At the end, the heir to the throne asked if Addison wanted to become queen, and she said that she was perfectly happy where she was. She assured her newfound sibling not to worry too much about inheriting the throne, that he or she would be a great leader, then, he or she decided to name Addison their ambassador to Earth. Then there was a huge celebration with, obviously, a closing musical number.
There might be a few details to smooth out, but this is just a rough idea of what I think the sequel should be like. I don’t know how I would portray Addison’s relationship with her “parents” because they were big on the whole anti-different thing, despite taking in a girl with unusual hair color, but I would still want them to love her in spite of their issues with her hair.
What do you think? Does this sound like a good plot for a potential Zombies 3? Let me know your thoughts.
Special thanks to @kiramigogd suggesting the idea about Addison’s long lost alien sibling.
If you like my post please consider buying me a coffee.

Dreamlike Dispatch 3 of 9
See Recap One for a complete note, but TL;DR SPOILERS FOR ZHU YILONG’S PARTS OF GRANTING YOU A DREAMLIKE LIFE.
Recap One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine
Okay, where the fuck were we? Buckle up because Granting You a Dreamlike Life is on a JOURNEY. Since we last spoke:
- Zhu Yilong recovered from his gunshot wound - his meimei who is in love with him kidnapped the girl he and his childhood friend both like (but just like, to scare her tho) - he ran to rescue her in the woods, where they got chased by CGI wolves (yikes) into a cave - at this point, very unfortunately, they made me kind of care about the het ship :/
It's been revealed that, ofc, Zhu Yilong had a traumatic childhood (watched his parents die in front of him), and now he can't sleep unless it's super noisy, bc he can't be alone with his thoughts. He solves this by sleeping above a burlesque club (nightclub??? dance club. there are girls and they dance) and, it turns out, by listening to the main girl sing Beijing opera (she's an opera singer, is her whole thing). He's genuinely a huge opera fan, which is a very cute trait for a gangster to have ngl, and when he hears her sing, he discovers he can actually sleep the night through afterward. This is basically why he likes her, and he's been semi-stalking her and forcing her to hang out with him even though his childhood best friend and she are going out on actual dates (which, from what I've seen in between fast forwards, are CRIMINALLY sappy affairs that I'm just so glad I've decided not to watch).
In the cave, she can't help dig them to freedom because she twisted her ankle (my eyeroll can be seen from space), so instead she sings him some Beijing opera (which she has previously refused to do for him unless forced) while he digs them out. I genuinely don't think I can find a screencap cute enough to convey the absolute radiance of his sweet grateful smile when he realizes what she's doing, but this one's okay:
Tumblr media
So, unfortunately, now I care about that.
He digs them a hole but then the whole cave is coming down!!! So he pushes her out and yells that he likes her and then it all collapses on him. At this point, his best friend comes with a squad of cops (his best friend has become a cop, like literally just now, specifically so that he could come rescue Zhu Yilong out of the woods? I feel like it shouldn't have been that easy? this might have made more sense if I watched more scenes lol) and they dig him out. He's not breathing!!!!! His friend completely loses his entire shit, doing the non-kissing type of CPR and sobbing like a child, "Wake up for me, Luo Fusheng. You have to wake up for me! Wake up for me!" while all the cops look on uncomfortably.
Tumblr media
Finally, they pull him away because they're like, dude, he's dead. Please stop hitting him and crying.
Tumblr media
This shot is just here because he's pretty and has nice legs. I HAVE NO REGRETS.
Anyway, the girl asks him to wake up and so it turns out he's not dead after all. The best friend has deeply and visibly mixed feelings about her being able to do that instead of him.
A lot of shit happens, the girl gets VERY mad at the best friend for giving up on his dreams of being a doctor to become a police officer, which, mood, fuck the police, and the meimei schemes to get them back together so that Zhu Yilong will stop thinking about the girl. This goes about how you would expect: she arranges them all at a movie theater, where the friend publicly announces his feelings for the girl and asks her to be his girlfriend. She says yes. Zhu Yilong makes this face:
Tumblr media
And leaves the theater right in the middle of the pop ballad love montage. (Also, take a look at that waistcoat! His character is so well dressed in this show!)

typed this out for a friend so i’ll copy and paste my EXO theory hereeeeeee
beware! long rambling, missing some chunks, probably more me going on tangents than anything:
my theory starts with the idea of a multiverse. This was reinforced not only in MAMA with the narrator in the beginning sharing a prophecy about the tree of life (2 worlds divided, etc.) but also in POWER MV as the narrator takes us through different EXO universes. In the POWER MV it seems as though you're able to pick whhich world to interact with. Everything was neatly divided once, with every world and universe having its own place.
HOWEVER, this multiverse is slowly breaking and colliding. The reason the mutliverse is breaking: solar and lunar eclipses (hinted at in their MVs since there's always an eclipse of some sort)
So the original MAMA prophecy spoke about a "red force coveting the tree of life" which EXO had born from and protecting. We see in the WOLF REMIX Stage EXO dancing with powerful movements in front of the tree of life. Their shadows are incorporated into the staging for--what all this time had seemed like the artistry of the stage. HOWEVER, knowing what we know of X-EXO existence, we need to look again at a specific moment in the choreography: https://youtu.be/jsKP4tZQExA?t=62  They had been fighting their own shadows--this could have been X-EXO.
Next--out of release order but in the continuity of my theory--there are the pathcode teasers which show EXO throughout OUR world. In all the teasers there is a natural phenomenon related to their powers that seems to be going out of control. At first we could have thought it was EXO against our world--trying to protect us--but we can now say it's X-EXO, especially since Baekhyun (light) had been chased through Lyon with the lights around him going dark. He should have been able to turn them on again, but couldn't. In the end he was cornered and eventually trapped by the darkness. We can assume this was X-EXO aka Baëkhyun. Pathcode led us to Lucky One: In this MV EXO is seen singing calmly while alos looking down on themselves being experimented on by women with red accents on their clothes. (aka workers for Red Force). In Lucky One, we see EXO and X-EXO together, EXO desperate to escape after having been captured (as evidenced by Pathcode) and eventually they are able to leave, though we are not sure who are the real EXO and who are X-EXO inflitrating. We can assume the following MVs had transpired while EXO was captured: Kokobop--EXO, while under the drugs and tests (in Lucky One MV, there is a deep blue injection central to the aesthetics of the video, and this blue is a frequent color-motif in the Kokobop MV as well), are reinvisioning their time on Earth and in all these different universes. Occasionally, the MV breaks with grainy--almost remembered--scenes of peace. this is reality breaking through the hallucination. (and the grainy filter is mimicked in Love Me Right, Tempo, Lucky One) Tempo--aka the one where we see X-EXO being sinful shits and EXO is LITERALLY RIGHT THERE TRAPPED IN THE WHITE CUBES BUT WE WERE TOO BUSY BABY GIRLING TO REALIZE. This is X-EXO testing out their abilities on Earth. Also the reason why X-EXO seems to be glitching. Electric Kiss--which is what what worlds look like when X-EXO rules. it is a desolate landscape with no sense and frequent oxymoronic juxtapositions. The world doesn't make sense and it is breaking into nothingness. Coming Over--possibly happened before Lucky One in which they tried to escape X-EXO and the Red Force. cameras are always watching and EXO is BREAKING THE SHIT OUT OF THEM CAUSE THEY AINT HERE TO BE SPIED ON. Unfortunately, they were captured after going to the elevator and the events of lucky one happen. Monster MV: In Monster we get the lyrics "creeping in your heart" which shows X-EXO trying to win over EXO-Ls (exol is the name of exo's fanbase) This is X-EXO trying to catch exols who represent the good in this world that x-exo is coveting (remember MAMA narration: red force coveting the Tree of Life, aka exo-Ls, aka LOVE). Monster MV is the start of the confusion as to who is who ON EARTH in this battle with X-EXO and the Red Force Next is LOTTO, where a girl is running--chased by two wolves (which can represent exo and xexo). There are two ways this MV can be taken:    First) this is X-EXO and they are further leading EXO-Ls astray in their coveting of the tree of life (remember chanyeol slips something to the girl at the end of the MV)    Second) this is EXO trying to hide and blend in with the mess of the world that XEXO created, hence why they are working within violent professions and gambling and why the world turned against them.  Love Shot can be the same time as Lotto as evidenced by the cards, money, and fire that are central to both MVs. We also see Xiumin and Baekhyun face off, pointing guns at each other. We do not know which of them is X-EXO or EXO, but (through another series of convoluted hints I am not going to share rn) we can deduce who is likely the real EXO member vs X-EXO. Finally, as I mentioned before, with Power MV the multiverse was confirmed. Baekhyun had been missing throughout the video until the end when he picks up a cat with a little "L" collar (the MV itself is v playful and runs like a goofy video game). when he picks up the cat there's some goofy eclipse thing that gives all of exo their powers back (they were fighting a robotic red force machine with guns). BUT after the eclipse/power return, something glitched and power!baekhyun fell through the sky into the water. The tone DRAMATICALLY shifts and in the accompanying comic books from this comeback baekhyun is floating in the water thinking, "something's been wrong. it's been wrong from the beginning." which circled us back to the tree of life, red force, MAMA narration.  tHERE’S STILL MORE TO SAY LIKE WHO IS BETRAYING WHO AND WHAT NOT BUT THIS WAS ALREADY LONG AS SHIT OKAY I GOTTA GO WORK ON MY OWN NOVELS NOW

Locked In a Haze
Leather Part 3
A/N: IT’S FINALLY HERE!!! I know you guys have been waiting a really long time for this, and I’m sorry for the wait. It’s pretty long, it’s almost nine pages in docs. ANyways - I hope you guys love it!
Warnings: SMUT (18+), unprotected sex (wrap it before you tap it kids), dirty talk
Part 1   Part 2   Part 4  Part 5
If you thought your relationship with Luke was strained before, it was now hanging by a thread. You thought you were saving yourself the argument by leaving that morning. Apparently, that was the wrong move, the usually fiery frontman was cold and aloof with you, brushing past you like you didn't exist. He no longer sought you out with insults or jabs. He just ignored you completely.
You were confused by his actions, but you were more confused by how affected you were by them. You had, wrongly, thought that Luke leaving you alone for the rest of the tour was what you wanted, but you find yourself missing his dark humour and disarmingly boyish smile.
At first, you were worried Luke would say something about that night to the guys, specifically Michael. If Michael found out you slept with Luke you’d never live it down. That played a huge part in you leaving before Luke, and the rest of the band woke up. The awkward ride from the hotel was bad enough, you didn’t want to imagine the aftermath of Michael finding you in bed with Luke. You replayed the morning over in your head wondering if there was anything you could have done differently.
                                                  ~ ~ ~
You and the boys were all on your way to breakfast and you were exhausted from the night before.  You mostly just kept quiet, Michael knows you really well and you were worried you’d do or say something that would make him suspicious. For some reason though, all the guys seemed focused on and slightly annoyed with Luke. At first, you were confused, but then Calum opened his mouth.
“Busy night last night, eh Lukey?” Calum smirked over at the frontman. From where you were huddled against Mike in the back of the van you could see Luke’s shoulders immediately tense. You held your breath waiting to hear his response, but he didn’t say anything, he simply shrugged his shoulders. You’d hoped that’d be the end of it, but it wasn’t.
“Aw, c’mon Luke, we all heard it,” Michael added from beside you. You groaned internally wishing he would shut up.  Ashton and Calum began moaning Luke’s name in high pitched voices, causing you to hide your face in Michael’s side so none of the guys would notice the shade of cherry your face had become.
“We’re just wondering where you found the time for a hookup, seeing as none of us went out last night,” continued Calum. You peeked over at Luke, wondering briefly why he hadn’t thrown you to the wolves yet.
“Had a couple drinks at the hotel bar,” he lied smoothly, “didn’t know I’d be interrogated about it later,” he said, eyeing Calum as he put his headphones in, effectively ending the conversation.
“You okay, Y/N?” Michael asked you.
“I uh - yeah? Why?” you managed to string together the words.
“Dunno, you just seemed kinda uncomfortable, I guess?” he gives you a strange look.
“I just don’t love hearing about Luke’s sex life this early in the morning, or you know at all,” you sniped back, hoping he’d leave it at that, and luckily he did.
                                                    ~ ~ ~
A loud noise from behind you shook you out of your reverie, one of the newer crew members had dropped some equipment he had been carrying around. He started to quickly gather up the things he dropped, a blush staining his face, you smiled kindly at him to hopefully put him at ease.
Tonight was the last show before a week-long break in LA, you wouldn’t have to see Luke for an entire 6 days. The only break in your respite being a friend’s birthday party Michael had asked you to attend with him in fear of running into his ex. You’d agreed, of course, knowing it would make Michael more comfortable if you were there for moral support.
You were excited for the break from touring, not only to escape the awkwardness any kind of interaction with Luke but also to sleep in your own bed for a little while. Well, not your own bed. You were staying at Michael’s place while you were in LA because you couldn't live there full time, it just wasn't your scene. You preferred your calmer, regular city life. He’d been trying to talk you into getting a small apartment for visits but to no avail.
The show went by pretty fast, the guys were amazing as usual, and the fans were overjoyed. You were just exhausted. You barely remember the ride back to the hotel. When morning came you were more than ready to get on the plane back to LA.
Once you landed you and Mike headed straight back to his house to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Michael had a couple days of rehearsal and some writing for the next album, but for the most part, you two stayed inside gaming and binging Netflix. Ashton came by a couple times, once with Calum in tow, hoping to drag you and Michael out on a hike or to a yoga class. While his efforts were in vain, you appreciate him checking in on you guys, and encouraging you to be healthier, even if he was unsuccessful. The majority of the week went by quicker than you’d like, and the birthday party was right around the corner.
When the night of the party finally came around you were nervous. You had spent a solid 5 days trying to forget Luke even existed, to no avail. In between episodes of Brooklyn 99 and your next takeout order, you'd find your mind drifting to those striking blue eyes. If Michael had noticed your daydreaming he hadn’t said anything. It wasn’t that you had a crush on Luke, no definitely not. He was just gorgeous and apparently amazing in bed. It’s not like you had started to actually like him, he was still an arrogant prick. Sleeping with him hadn’t changed that, if anything it had made it more apparent. You just didn’t know how you or your body would react seeing Luke again, especially since he’d be all dressed up and looking more gorgeous than usual, damn him.
Your party attire consisted of a very short and shimmery dress, you didn’t go out partying very often but you loved getting dressed up. By the time you and Michael show up to the party the other three boys are at least two rounds in. Ash and Calum are in the middle of a large group of people, socializing. Ashton seems to be telling a story. At first, you don’t spot Luke, not that you’re looking for him. After a few minutes you spot him talking to some girls you recognized as Instagram ‘influencers’. You roll your eyes and gesture to Mike that you’re gonna grab you guys some drinks from the bar. You’d only have one or two drinks, you’d decided because you’re not overly fond of being drunk. Once you make your way back to Michael he asks if it’s okay for him to go mingle. You tell him to go ahead, though admittedly you’re a bit annoyed that he dragged you to this party where you know no one but the boys and crew, just to ditch you. But you had only come to ensure his comfort and if he feels fine, then you can relax. Your plan was to hang out in the shadows, avoiding unwanted small talk. Or that had been your plan until you felt a body pressed up against yours.
“Hey, doll. I’m surprised you’re here” Luke whispers in your ear. You immediately tense. “Aww, play nice kitten, I’m just teasing,” he smirks at you, brushing his hand across the exposed part of your back making you shiver, before making his way back into the crowd, leaving you confused. Not just because he’s being openly flirty, but also because he hadn’t talked to you in almost two weeks. You need another drink, you decide, trying to get through the dancing bodies, to the bar.  Just as you went to hand the bartender money for your overpriced drink she simply shakes her head, gesturing to a man standing at the end of the bar. You weren’t certain how you were supposed to react, you definitely weren’t looking for a hookup, other than your confusing situation with Luke you generally tried to avoid one night stands. You’d never really been in this situation before because you don’t really go out drinking. You figured you should at least say thank you, so you walked over to where the man was standing. A smile immediately overtook his face, but it faded slightly when you merely said thank you for the drink. He tried to engage you in conversation and you tried to remain polite.
Somehow you two ended up on the dance floor, even though you hate dancing. You didn’t really know how to say no, and you were really uncomfortable. Once the first song was over and you were hoping you could go back to hiding on the sidelines, but the crowd of writhing bodies made it impossible for you to leave. You tried to tell the man you were dancing with that you wanted to sit down, but he claimed he couldn't hear you and dragged you farther onto the dance floor, drinks in hand. You didn’t know that your discomfort was so outwardly obvious until you felt a familiar presence.
“Hey, man, mind if I cut in?” you hear Luke’s voice over the bass-heavy music. You don’t hear the other guy’s response, but his demeanour changes immediately, getting more and more aggressive. You couldn’t quite make out Luke’s response, but the man clearly did not like what Luke had to say, because he sent his drink hurling through the air, drenching Luke. You could feel the anger radiating off of his body, you were worried that he was going to do something stupid, but he simply called a member of security over and had the aggressive guy removed. You turn, planning on thanking him for saving you, but you’re met with an empty space, and you see Luke’s towering frame making its way to the bathrooms. You quickly follow the path he made through the crowd and slip inside the large one person bathroom.
“Is there a reason you’re following me into the bathroom?” you’re met with steely blue eyes, connected to a very shirtless Luke. His shirt sitting by the sink, where he’d probably been rinsing the alcohol out of it.
“I just wanted to thank you for helping me,” you murmur, feeling shy all of a sudden. You lean back against the closed door, trying to distance yourself from his harsh gaze.
“Couldn’t do that after I finish cleaning myself up, doll?” He starts getting closer, crowding you against the door, and you’re having flashbacks to backstage and leather pants. “Or did you follow me in here hoping I’d fuck you again, hmm?” You shiver at his words, but you try to cover it up by tensing your entire body.
“No, no that’s not––” your words die in your throat when one of Luke’s hands lands on your waist.
“Are you here to show me just how thankful you can be?” he smirks down at you, running his thumb over your lower lip. And just like, as if the spell he had over you had been broken, you glare up at him.
“You’re such jerk, honestly Luke,” you try to move away from him, but you’re stuck where you are, pressed between the door and his naked chest.
“Oh, I see, you’re gonna run away again,” his eyes flash at you, seemingly annoyed. At first, you’re confused, but then it dawns on you.
“I’m sorry, did you want me to stay for a morning cuddle and breakfast in bed?” you scoff at him. The atmosphere in the small room changes quickly,  hostility replacing Luke’s flirty tone.
“You didn’t have to leave in the middle of the night like… like––”
“Like a one night stand? Because that’s exactly what it was Luke, we aren’t together. Don’t get confused. We fucked, it happened, but it's nothing more than––” your heated rant is cut off by his aggressive kiss. You should have been surprised, but you weren’t. You should have pushed him away but you didn’t. You couldn’t help but surrender to him. You could taste the tequila he’d been drenched in earlier. And you know you’re gonna regret this come morning, but sex with Luke was unlike anything you’d ever experienced. It was raw and angry and honestly the best sex you’d ever had. You can feel his hands back at your hips pulling your body to his. You loved feeling his huge hands on your smaller frame, it made you feel powerless, in a good way. His tongue invades your mouth, taking what he wants. You hear the lock of the door click, as Luke pulls away to look at you.
“If you don’t want me to fuck you again, you need to tell me now,” he looks down at you, with a steady gaze, waiting for you to push him away. But you don’t, you grab his hands in yours and place them back on your hips. His passive face morphs into a cocky smirk, causing you to roll your eyes exasperated. He doesn’t make some snarky remark as you’d expect, he simply reattaches his lips to yours and his hands wander around to grab your ass, making you moan against his mouth. He tears his mouth from yours, nipping and sucking his way down your neck.
“Luke,” you groan out when his teeth scrape against a particularly sensitive spot near your collarbone.
“I love it when you say my name doll, but you’re gonna get us caught,” he hums against your skin. Suddenly your feet are no longer touching the ground, you’re suspended against the wall, held up only by Luke’s hands and a singular strong thigh. You wrap your legs around him, trying to stabilize yourself. Luke’s attack on your neck doesn’t falter, and you feel your head fall back against the door in pleasure. His hands slide slowly up your torso, slowly flicking your dress’ spaghetti straps off your shoulders, and tugging the upper half of your dress down to your waist. “No bra, kitten? It’s like you were expecting this,” he almost hisses the words.
“I’m going to fucking ruin you”.  You want to tell him he already has but you don’t. His lips find their way to your breasts kissing and sucking the soft flesh. Pure want thrums through your body. When he reaches your nipple he starts sucking gently at first, but then you feel his teeth sinking into the sensitive peak, causing a shiver to run up your spine. You can feel desire deep in your belly, making your insides clench. Luke is suddenly carrying you, carefully setting you on the counter next to the sink. You give him a questioning look, the abrupt change of location thinning the fog in your head. “Didn’t wanna drop you,” he shrugs, “and I want to finally get a taste”.
“What? Luke, we don’t exactly have a lot of time,” you worry your bottom lip.
“We’ve got all the time in the world, kitten,” you open your mouth to protest, but he beats you to it, “you’ve gotten on your knees for me twice already,” he reminds you falling to his knees and kissing up your thighs slowly. “Let me return the favour”. His warm hands rub up your thighs, slowly pushing the hem of your very short dress up past your hips. He then removes your underwear, with his teeth, making you giggle a bit.
He merely raises an eyebrow at you, you just shrug at him in reply, and he grabs your legs again, spreading your legs for him and pulling you closer to the edge of the counter. “Try not to scream too loud, doll,” he smirks at you with a quick pinch to your nipple, before lowering his head between your thighs.
“Can you stop being a twat for even fi ––” your words are cut off with a soft noise from your throat. He’s got one hand holding your legs open, while the other one is pulling the skin taut, giving him better access to your clit. Which he’s currently suckling on, hard.
He pulls away briefly,” Sorry what was that, doll?” He doesn’t give you time to catch your breath or formulate an answer before he’s diving back in, lapping at your folds. You can only let out a sigh and a tiny groan as his tongue works its way inside of you. He uses the hand above his head to press down on your clit, while his tongue fucks in and out of you. His thumb starts making slow circular motions teasing your small bundle of nerves.
Of course, he would be astoundingly good at this, because Luke Hemmings can’t be bad at anything, especially not at sex, you thought, slightly bitter, but mostly thankful. It had only been a couple minutes and you were already panting, your body twitching in pleasure. His focus moves back to your clit, his tongue flicking it rapidly over and over again.
“Luke,” you moan out, dragging out the word. It seems to be the only word your brain is able to form. And you feel his warm chuckle against your heat.
“Shhh, doll,” he says, stopping his ministrations to look up at you. “What would Michael think if he found you in here, dress bunched up around your waist,” he runs his finger through your folds, “ with my head between your legs, moaning like a whore for me, hmm?” He again doesn’t give you time to answer him before his mouth is back on you. But he certainly painted a picture in your head. Part of you is mortified by the thought of Michael seeing you like this, but the other part of you is so far gone that you’re not sure if you would even ask Luke to stop if it did happen. Your thoughts are cut short when, well you’re not even certain what he did, but it felt amazing. His tongue glides down your folds back to your hole, teasing the rim over and over. His fingers are back at your clit plucking the sensitive skin. Your legs start to shake as Luke slips his tongue back inside and he takes notice. His eyes flick up to meet yours, and somehow you can see his smirk even though his tongue is still inside of you. You’re close, and he knows it, the glint in his eyes makes it obvious. But you don’t care because you’re cumming, with a breathless moan of Luke’s name. He works you through the tremors, laving your sensitive core after you’d slumped back against the cold counter. He pulls you up, pressing your bare chest to his.
“Am I that good?” His signature cocky smirk, gracing his face. You roll your eyes, scoffing. You stretch up and nibble lightly at his puffy bottom lip.
“Thought you were gonna ruin me, rockstar?” You tease him, hoping he’d make good on his promise. You feel the growl in his chest before you hear it.
“So demanding, kitten,” you thought you hated it when he talks to you like that, but your body seemed to disagree. “Need me that bad, huh?” he chuckles a bit but reaches for his belt buckle. He’s got his pants down past his knees and is about to pull down his boxers when he stops.
“Luke?” you raise an eyebrow at him.
He looks sheepish, “I, uh –– I don’t have a condom,” you’d expect the venue’s bathroom to have a dispenser, but no, you guess they’re too classy for that. You groan and shake your head, he goes to pull his pants back on, but you stop him.
“It’s fine, I have an IUD. We don’t need one,” you tell him, yanking his boxers off. He doesn’t waste any time after that, his hands wrap around your hips, dragging you to meet him. He slips inside of you easily and starts a harsh pace that you remember well. His hands pull your body to meet his every thrust, leaving you quaking with pleasure. He was always so rough with you and you couldn’t get enough. You wrap your legs around his torso looking for a better angle.
“Always so desperate for me, baby,” he grunts out, running one of his hands through your hair. His grip tightens close to your scalp, as you try to keep up with his brutal pace. He yanks your hair harshly, making you gasp in pain. “You’ll let me do anything to you, won’t you doll?” His words make you hot, half with anger, half with arousal. You simply nod your head because you know it’s true.  You know you’re just feeding Luke’s ego, but he makes you feel like no one else can, and you’re always hungry for more. You feel the edge of the cold counter digging into your ass, but you don’t care enough to say anything. His lips are back against your neck, leaving more marks you’ll have to hide from Michael.
“You wouldn’t let anyone else fuck you like this,” he says breathlessly, you shake your head, but he wasn’t asking, “in the bathroom of some club? No. Mike’s always on about how you don’t like fucking around,” he takes a moment to catch his breath, his hips never faltering.
“But you’re gonna let me cum inside your sweet little cunt aren’t you doll?” his dirty words make your core flutter around him.
“Please,” there's not much else you can say. You try to work through the haze in your mind, but Luke is the only thing you can focus on.
“Yeah? You want me to fill you up?” You can only nod rapidly at him, arms tightening around his neck. Luke chuckles darkly at you, “M’gonna make you mine doll”.  With these words, his hips speed up to a pace you didn’t know was possible, and the large bathroom is filled with the sound of his skin against yours and your uh uh uhs. One of Luke’s hands wanders from its place on your hips to tweak at your clit again, bringing you deliciously close to the edge. Your body starts to tense and you open your mouth to tell Luke but all you can manage to get out is the breathy repetition of his name. All it takes to push you over is a light pinch of your clit. Your eyes squeeze shut and you let out a very loud groan, as you tense around his dick. You let your nails scrape down his bare chest, leaving thin red lines behind. He sets you back down and uses his hands to brace himself against the counter, pace increasing once again. His lips find yours one final time, as he lets his orgasm take over. When it’s over, he detaches your lips from his but presses his forehead to yours, just looking in your eyes as he catches his breath.
“Fuck. Why are you so irresistible?” you assume it’s a rhetorical question, so you don’t reply, you just trace shapes on his back with your nails. He’s kind of nice to be around after he’s cum, you think to yourself. “Alright doll, let’s get the fuck out of here before someone finds us,” he moves back from you and starts to redress, you squirm a bit at the feeling of his cum starting to drip from your spent hole. He makes a tsking noise, using his fingers to push the liquid back inside of you, and picks your panties off the floor, handing them to you. You slip them on and jump from the counter, trying to fix your dress.
“I want you to spend the rest of the night feeling me drip out of you, reminding you of what we did,” he whispers in your ear, sending chills through your body. You look in the mirror trying to sort out the disaster that is your hair. After a couple of minutes, you give up, deciding that this is as good as it’s going to get. You make your way over to the bathroom door, planning on leaving when Luke stops you.
“Wait, before you go,” he says while buttoning up his still damp dress shirt, “I have a proposition”.

Can u like.. link that pynch playlist u were talking about? Because i think you have great taste
sure i can! i’m going to apologise in advance because you probably just wanted the link – hope it works! –, but i’m going to explain my choices of songs a little because i kind of envisioned it as a sort of soundtrack to the series. so there are different ‘blocks’ of songs each one referring to a particular book or even a single chapter or scene.
(also sorry for replying so late, i had a full day)
i’m going to put the rest under a ‘keep reading’ cut because this is going to be long.
the raven boys comprises the songs from when you were young by the killers to sky full of songs by florence. the songs from luck by american authors to can’t help falling in love by elvis refer to the dream thieves and a few of them come from mstief’s soundcloud playlist for the novel (nominally luck, fight song, keep it low, daydreaming). from welcome home, son by american authors to the chain by fleetwood mac we’re in blue lily, lily blue. from in my veins by andrew belle to winter winds by mumford i’m following the events of the raven king. and the songs from first day of my life by bright eyes to the end refer to adam and ronan’s life after chapter 67 of trk… in my head when i made the playlist til death do us part by white lion was about their marriage, but yeah that’s just a hc.
okay, this is the part that you can totally skip and i wouldn’t blame you if you did. BUT. these are the songs that reminded me of specific moments in the story:
snake eyes is about calla revealing her insight into ronan’s mind and calling him a snake in trb
pills is about ronan punching adam’s father
daydreaming is about ronan experimenting with his abilities in tdt
unattainable and can’t help falling in love with you are about ronan voicing his second secret at the end of tdt
welcome home, son and home are about ronan being able to return to the barns
the songs from skin graph to somebody to die for are a hypothetical mix for the cassette ronan leaves in adam’s car and i took them from another playlist, made for the fic things you know by heart by moreraventhanothers (they wouldn’t be my choice of songs for the playlist, they feel too romantic, but i liked the songs so that’s that)
the songs from take me to church to devil side are about the church scene in bllb
church refers to the quote at the start of chapter 18 of trk
angels and first time he kissed a boy are about adam and ronan’s first kiss
i want to know what love is is about adam and gansey’s conversation soon after
trade mistakes and together we will live forever are about the rest of adam and ronan’s night
the moon is down and mr loverman are about ronan being alone at the barns when adam is away for college
and then (i’m sorry, this is going to end soon i promise) these are the lyrics that really screamed pynch imho.
When We Were Young, The Killers
[about adam]
Watch it now, here he comes
He doesn’t look a thing like Jesus
But he talks like a gentlemen
Like you imagined when you were young
The Bad in Each Other, Feist
[adam]
Speak plain he said
But didn’t say
He acted that way
Therein lies the doubt
We had the same feelings
[both]
When a good man and a good woman
Can’t find the good in each other
Then a good man and a good woman
Will bring out the worst in the other
The bad in each other
But what and how
To find us now
When we’ve become two
Pills, The Perishers
[ronan]
I hope my fists
can fight for two
So you’ll never have to see
What we’ve grown to be
Snake Eyes, Mumford & Sons
[about ronan]
It’s in the eyes
I can tell, you will always be danger
Fight Song, The Republic Tigers
[both]
Everyday we’re fighting, and we’re
Causing bolts of lightning, like a
Hot and cold collision in the sky.
[ronan]
If you cared, there’d be love in the air.
Thisle & Weeds, Mumford & Sons
[adam]
Spare me your judgments and spare me your dreams
‘Cause recently mine have been tearing my seams
Unattainable, Little Joy
[ronan]
Only when the goal is unattainable
Do I start to feel like I’m losing myself
And this deep secret that hasn’t come out yet
Is buried down deep with the rest
I can’t coerce you into this one
Jealousy lay all your spells to bed
I’ll choose unloved instead
Can’t Help Falling in Love, Elvis Presley
[ronan]
Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I can’t help falling in love with you
Wolves Without Teeth, Of Monsters And Men
[ronan]
You hover like a hummingbird
Haunt me in my sleep
You’ll sailing from another world
Sinking in my sea, oh
You’re feeding on my energy
I’m letting go of it
I can see through you
We are the same
It’s perfectly strange
I Wanna Be Yours, Arctic Monkeys
[ronan]
Secrets I have held in my heart
Are harder to hide than I thought
Maybe I just wanna be yours
I wanna be yours
I wanna be yours
From Afar, Vance Joy
[ronan]
They told me “boy, look the other way”
Told me “boy, bite your tongue”
‘Cause that’s not the way
Yeah, that’s not the way
Oh, that’s just not the way that friends behave
Oh, that’s just not the way that friends behave
You light me up across the room
Two falling sparks, one willing fool
And I, I always knew that I would love you from afar
And that is just the way that we remain
Oh, that will be the way that we remain
It shouldn’t come as a surprise
What I’m feeling, what I’m feeling now
It shouldn’t come as a surprise
The Run And Go, twenty one pilots
[ronan]
I can’t take them on my own, my own
Oh, I’m not the one you know, you know
I have killed a man and all I know
Don’t wanna call you in the nighttime
Don’t wanna give you all my pieces
Don’t wanna hand you all my trouble
Don’t wanna give you all my demons
You’ll have to watch me struggle
From several rooms away
But tonight I’ll need you to stay
Devil Side, Foxes
[adam]
Run and hide, it’s gonna be bad tonight
‘Cause here comes your devil side
It’s gonna ruin me
It’s almost like, slow motion suicide
Watching your devil side, get between you and me
Still I want you, but not for your devil side
Not for your haunted life, just for you
So tell me why I deal with your devil side
I deal with your dangerous mind, but never with you
Church, Fall Out Boy
[ronan]
If you were church, I’d get on my knees
Confess my love, I’d know where to be
My sanctuary, you’re holy to me
If you were church, I’d get on my knees
My Body Is A Cage, Arcade Fire
[ronan]
My body is a cage
That keeps me from dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
Angels, The xx
[both]
You move through the room
Like breathing was easy
If someone believed me
They would be
As in love with you as I am
And everyday
I am learning about you
The things that no one else sees
And with words unspoken
A silent devotion
I know you know what I mean
And the end is unknown
But I think I’m ready
As long as you’re with me
I Want to Know What Love Is, Foreigner
[adam!]
I’ve gotta take a little time
A little time to think things over
In my life there’s been heartache and pain
I wanna know what love is
I want you to show me
I wanna feel what love is
I know you can show me
I’m gonna take a little time,
A little time to look around me
I’ve got nowhere left to hide
It looks like love has finally found me
Trade Mistakes, Panic! At the Disco
[ronan]
I may never sleep tonight
As long as you’re still burning bright
First Day Of My Life, Bright Eyes
[ronan]
Yours is the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
“This is the first day of my life
I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you
But, now I don’t care, I could go anywhere with you
And I’d probably be happy”
[adam]
So if you wanna be with me
With these things there’s no telling
We’ll just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery
Besides, maybe this time it’s different
I mean I really think you like me, me, me, me
Drive, Halsey
[ronan]
My hands wrapped around a stick shift
Swerving on the 405, I can never keep my eyes off this
My neck, the feeling of your soft lips
Illuminated in the light, bouncing off the exit signs I missed
[adam]
And California [Henrietta] never felt like home to me
Carves into my hollow chest, spreads over the emptiness
Over analyze again
Starving, Hailee Steinfeld
[adam]
I didn’t know that I was starving till I tasted you
[ronan]
You know just how to make my heart beat faster
arms, Christina Perri
[adam]
I never thought that you would be the one to hold my heart
But you came around
And you knocked me off the ground from the start
How many times will let you me change my mind and turn around
I can’t decide if I’ll let you save my life or if I’ll drown
The world is coming down on me
And I can’t find a reason to be loved
I’ve never truly loved ‘till you put your arms around me
And I believe that it’s easier for you to let me go
I hope that you see right through my walls
I’ll never let a love get so close
You put your arms around me and I’m home
The Moon Is Down, Radical Face
[adam]
There ain’t no moon tonight
It’s hard for me to see
But if I can catch a glimpse of you
It helps me feel at ease
It helps me sleep
[ronan]
You were never at rest
You were always somewhere-bound
But as for me, I’m the simple kind
I’ll live and die in this town

2.04 Memory Lane
A good episode - in fact, a very good episode.  This is where TVD really starts to hit its stride.
We open on the Lockwood Mansion, the first founders party in 1864; Stefan and Katherine are doing the Simple-Intimacy-of-the-Near-Touch dance.  Stefan goes in for the kiss, Katherine holds a finger in his face and teases, “Ah! No touching, Mr. Salvatore, those are the rules!”  “I thought you didn’t believe in rules,” Stefan answers.  She giggles.  Stefan glances over her shoulder, says, “My brother is still upset you chose me to escort you.”

Yup, that’s pretty upset.  “Well,” Katherine says, “Damon needs to concede that his younger brother is a better dancer.”  If they hadn’t yet established that Katherine is an inveterate liar, this line would cinch it.  She completes the next turn, looks back at Damon and says dispassionately, “Ah, it looks like he found someone to occupy his time.”  Stefan looks – it’s Elena, looking odd in the middle of 1864 in her usual jeans and tshirt.  She and Damon smile at each other, he takes her hand in both of his.  Elena glances over at Stefan, who finally recognizes her, says her name.  “Stefan, don’t,” Katherine warns, placing a hand on his chest, but he follows his brother, who’s leading Elena away, hand in hand, just as he did at the Miss Mystic Falls pageant.  They step outside, Stefan follows them and finds himself in the middle of the Mystic Grille – Elena is posed with a pool stick, grinning.  “It’s your turn,” she says.  Stefan smiles back, relieved, and steps forward, only for Damon to step out in front of him, sing-songing, “Be prepared to lo-o-ose.”  This is no longer fluffy-haired flashback Damon, whom Katherine called “sweet, sweet Damon” – this is the Damon of the present, clad in his usual black button-down and smirk; Elena’s smile was for him.  He leans down to kiss her; Stefan watches, looking lost and a little defeated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Damon breaks off the kiss and attends to the game, as if this is all commonplace, as if he’s used to these little moments – he doesn’t see the way Elena is smiling at him, he doesn’t need to.  “It hurts, doesn’t it.”  Stefan turns around, Katherine is standing behind him in full founders party regalia – she, not Elena, is out of place.  “Now you know how I feel,” she tells him.  Stefan turns back to the happy couple, who despite Damon’s competitive trash-talking are leaning over to make the shot together, wrapped up in each other and laughing.  “Don’t fight it, Stefan,” Katherine says, “you loved me once, you could love me again.”  He turns away from her, caught by the picture in front of him, perplexity turning to horror as his brother kisses Elena on the cheek.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He moves forward, but Katherine stops him. “I love you, Stefan,” she repeats, and they’re back in 1864, alone.  “We’ll be together again, I promise.”  She kisses him, folds herself into his arms – and then Stefan wakes up, in his bed in the Salvatore mansion, Elena sleeping next to him – except then he remembers that Elena didn’t fall asleep there last night, and flies out of bed.  Katherine sits up and smiles at him, self-satisfied.  “Katherine,” Stefan says, sounding annoyed with himself. “You have to admit, I am getting better at this,” she says.
Do you think I’ve spent too long on a two-minute dream sequence?  Think again, because I’m about to break it down even further.  First of all, I’m taking for granted that Katherine is working with Stefan’s real memories here, and that alone is fascinating.  What we briefly see of their dynamic before the trippy stuff starts happening feels very familiar, since it’s basically how Stefan and Elena interacted during their MMF rehearsal – Katherine’s little “no touching, those are the rules” is the same way Stefan chose to flirt during the dance with Elena.  As much as he claims he hates her, as much as he insists none of it was real, Stefan learned romance from Katherine – and the effects of that are still very much lingering.  She’s a part of him.  Then, even more fascinating, compare this to the other nightmare sequences we’ve seen: in 1.03, Damon gets into Elena’s mind and causes her to dream that Stefan turns into him while they’re making out.  And in 1.04, Damon shows Stefan his deepest fear: a stoic, unfeeling Damon stalking and killing Elena.  Now?  The fear that Stefan is shown is specifically that the casual, comfortable affection that has somehow always been there between his brother and the love of his life will blossom into the casual, comfortable belonging that he sees in front of him.  It’s not the fear that Damon will kill her (even after Jeremy!), and it’s not the fear that Damon will seduce her into bed – because even if Damon is a black-wearing, smirking vampire, Stefan knows that floofy-haired human Damon is still somewhere inside of him, and this is the Damon he fears is going to lead Elena away from him – whom, tragically, is also the Damon he loves.  Just because it’s Katherine showing it to him doesn’t make it any less real.  This scene is absolutely brilliant, as a demonstration of how far we’ve come, and a foreshadowing of 2.08 and 2.22.  Oh season two, how I do love thee.
Well, it’s high time I moved on.
Katherine tells Stefan it was easy to get inside his head, asks, “Have you completely forsaken your nature?”  This is more or less what Damon said to him in 1.04; Stefan attacks her and is thrown aside.  He asks her what she wants; “I wanted to see you, I missed you, Stefan,” she answers.
Elena, meanwhile, is studying in the Mystic Grille, joined by – surprise, surprise – Damon.  He vamp-speed appears in the seat next to her (really subtle, dude), she gasps. “What do you want?” she asks flatly. “So this is where you spend your time when you’re not stabbing people in the back,” he answers, making a very dramatic show of looking around as if he’s never seen the place before.  “I tricked you into telling me the truth, that’s not stabbing you in the back, that’s using your own tactics against you,” she answers, rapidly packing up her books.  “Where are you going?” Damon says.  “I made myself clear, Damon,” she says, “I want nothing to do with you.”  “Okay,” he says, lightly, “see you at Jenna’s barbecue.”  Elena turns back around slowly; “How did you know about Jenna’s barbecue?”  “It was my idea,” he says.  He wants a social gathering to get to know Jenna’s old high school buddy Mason Lockwood, and so told Rick to tell Jenna.  “What are you up to?” Elena asks.  “I’m gonna put some silver into Mason Lockwood and prove he’s a werewolf,” Damon says, leaning in closer than necessary, as per usual.  “See you at the barbecue.”
Tyler pesters Mason to explain why he turns into a wolf; Mason assures him it won’t happen to him because he won’t “trigger the curse”, and then refuses to explain any further.
Back in the Salvatore house, Katherine is reading Stefan’s diary while she waits patiently for him to get her a drink...which he does??  She confirms that a werewolf bite kills a vampire, and then points out that the push to rid the town of vampires in 1864 was led by the Lockwoods.  We return to the original founders party, before the boys knew what Katherine was – Katherine and Stefan laugh together over a glass of champagne, Damon makes a toast to George Lockwood to show off how not-bothered he is by their being together.  “So you’re saying that all the Lockwoods are werewolves?” Stefan says, sounding bored.  “That the werewolf gene runs in the Lockwood family, not that they’re all wolves,” Katherine corrects.  “My turn to ask a question,” she says, then pulls her portrait out of Stefan’s diary and asks why he kept it.  “You wanna know why I came back?” she says.  “Well, I have a better question. Why did you? For Elena? No. You came back here to fall in love with me all over again, didn’t you?” He struggles with that for a moment, then vamps over and cups her face in his hand.  “What is it about you that makes me still care?” he asks.  She goes to kiss him; for a moment it really looks like he’s going to kiss her back – and then just before their lips touch, he stabs her in the back with a vervain dart, and carries her into the basement to chain her up.  “Now where were we?” he asks, coldly. “That’s right.  You were going to tell me why you returned to Mystic Falls.”  “You didn’t have to do this,” she says, voice shaking. “Answer the question,” he says. “I came back for you,” she insists. He walks to the other end of the cell, puts gardening gloves on, and then picks a vervain blossom and presses it to Katherine’s cheek.  She screams. “Are you gonna torture me now?” she asks, teary-eyed.  Yes. Yes, he is.
At the Gilberts’ house, Elena is putting chips in a bowl.  There is nothing about this gathering or this group that makes me think anyone here is barbecuing anything.  She thanks Jenna for letting her invite Caroline; Jenna says Caroline isn’t the plus-one she’s worried about.  “Why is Damon coming?” she asks Elena.  “Because Alaric is a pity-taker,” Elena says, “Come on Jenna, be nice.”  “I’ll be nice,” Jenna answers, “when Damon learns to keep his paws off you.”  Remember: Jenna has no idea Damon invited himself into Elena’s room, forced a kiss, and then murdered her brother.  She’s still working under the assumption that Damon and Elena shared a passionate kiss on the porch which merely had the unfortunate effect of leaving Elena confused and uncommunicative.  Caught between these realities, Elena looks uncomfortable, but is given a chance to slip out by Mason’s exuberant entrance: “Good news, I found the shot glasses!”  “You’re here ten minutes and already I’m back under the bleachers at the pep rally,” Jenna teases.  Mason pulls her into his side, both of them beaming.  “It’s just like old times!”
Tumblr media
I like them.  “Ohhh,” says Alaric, coming in bearing steaks, which now that I think about it makes sense.  “The expensive stuff, I like you already!” he tells Mason.  “I’m just happy to be invited,” Mason says, looking like he’s trying not to be suspicious.  “Well, thank Rick, this was his idea,” Jenna says.  “Really?” Mason says, increasingly worried.  “Yeah, I thought it would be nice to meet some of Jenna’s high school friends,” Rick says easily, “dig up a little dirt.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beautiful people, beautiful people in looooove.  Oh, I’ve got dirt, I’ve got dirt,” Mason says, laughing.  “I have no secrets,” Jenna says, “only dirty, dirty shame.”  Honestly, Jenna is so, unfortunately relatable.  They toast to dirty shame just as Damon walks in.
Tumblr media
You can see precisely how he’s ruined the mood. Jenna is annoyed he’s there, Alaric is sad that she’s annoyed, and Mason just wants everyone to be friends.  Jenna hands Damon her shot glass and escapes; Rick follows her.  “She doesn’t like me very much,” Damon tells Mason.  They introduce themselves; Mason tells Damon he’s heard great things about him. “Really?” says Damon, genuinely thrown off his game. “That’s weird, ‘cause I’m a dick.”
Katherine asks Stefan if he pretends to be human with Elena; he claims he doesn’t have to pretend to be anything with her.  This is some seriously selective forgetting of large chunks of season one.  “Does she know that you love me?” Katherine asks.  He leans closer, says simply, “I don’t.”  “That’s where you’re wrong, Stefan,” she says, struggling with her chains.  In 1864, Stefan tells Katherine at her door after the party, “I know we’ve only known each other a short while, and I know I’m in competition for your affections, but I’ve never met a woman quite like you.  I look at you and I see an angel.  I touch your skin, and my entire body ignites.  I kiss you, and I know that I’m falling in love.”  They kiss, he repeats, “I am in love with you.” “There’s just so much you don’t know about me, Stefan,” Katherine says.  “More to learn and love,” Stefan answers.  “I must say good night,” she tells him, and disappears into her bedroom, where she is promptly kissed by Damon.  “What are you doing?” she asks, pushing him off.  “I told you I would come,” he says, in all his soft-haired innocent glory. “Well, I’m tired,” she says.  “Did my little brother’s confession overwhelm you,” Damon says teasingly, kissing her hand.  She snatches it back, snaps, “You shouldn’t eavesdrop.”  Damon looks at her more closely; his brow furrows.  “Is my love not enough?” he asks.  “I told you, I’m tired,” she says, and then compels him: “I wish to be alone tonight, please leave.”  He wishes her a good night and obeys; left alone, she touches her lips where Stefan kissed her and smiles to herself in quiet wonder.  (This is a far cry from the story that Damon taunted Stefan with – we knew Damon was waiting for her in her room, we didn’t know she kicked him out, and we especially didn’t know she compelled him.)  “Go ahead, Stefan,” Katherine tells him in the present, “torture me, keep me captive, drain me of my blood until my body turns to dust, it will never change the truth.  I never compelled your love.  It was real.”
Tumblr media
“And so was mine.”
Tumblr media
“It wasn’t real,” Stefan tells Katherine.  “I remember you compelling me.”  “Only after you learned the truth of who I really was,” she says. “You were so scared of me, I had to take away your fear.”  “Well, whatever feelings I had back then, they’ve all turned to hate,” Stefan says.  Katherine is unimpressed. “Love, hate, such a fine line.  I can wait.  Anyway…” And she proceeds to tell Stefan that George Lockwood had blamed the vampires to cover his own tracks, but was willing to strike a deal.  They’d rid the town of vampires – but he’d help Katherine escape.  “You knew that they were going to burn the vampires in the church?” Stefan asks.  “I practically lit the match,” she says. “They were your friends,” he says, “they were your family, and you just sold them out?”  “Without blinking,” she answers.  “So you sent twenty-six of your friends to their death just to fake your own?” he asks. “No, you were running from something, what was it?”  She sighs, shakes her head.  “Everyone has a past, Stefan.  Mine needed to stay far, far away.”  She goes on, saying that the plan was almost ruined by Giuseppe poisoning Stefan’s blood, and Damon pulling her out of the cart.  “We came for you,” Stefan says, tears brimming over in his eyes, “we tried to save you.”  “I didn’t want to be saved,” she answers.  “Then Damon and I died for nothing,” Stefan shouts, “for nothing!”  “No, Stefan, you died for love,” Katherine says. It’s worth pointing out that this meltdown of Stefan’s is long overdue – Damon went through all of this when he found out the tomb was empty, and had pretty nearly processed it all by the time Katherine ever came back.  But Stefan was so deep in denial that he couldn’t admit finding anything out about Katherine would ever mean anything to him – but it does, as we see here.  He died for her – and that was poisoned by the realization that she compelled him, but now it’s been completely shattered.
A very wholesome game of pictionary is taking place at the Gilbert residence.  Damon draws a dog in a tutu, Mason correctly guesses Dances With Wolves.  Elena has secluded herself in the kitchen away from the game, which is also unfortunately relatable.  “Aunt Jenna is getting tipsy,” Damon tells her, entering.  “Will you stop plying her with alcohol?” Elena answers.  “Well, I want her to like me,” Damon says.  Elena asks about operation Lockwood, Damon tells her he’s his new bff.  Jenna wanders in just as Damon is speaking directly into Elena’s ear and Elena is glaring at him.  “There you are!” she exclaims, I think to Elena. “Isn’t this fun?”  “Yes!” Damon says, imitating her level of inebriation. “Thank you so much for inviting me.”  “Did I have a choice?” Jenna says, resentful.  “I know what you must think about me,” Damon starts, but she interrupts, “No!  You don’t. You have never dated you, I have dated many yous.”  “Well,” Damon says, not quite sure how to respond to that, “I’m a work in progress.” Elena meets his eye over Jenna’s shoulder; she’s not impressed.  Damon gets distracted by silverware; Elena pretends to ignore his stabby, stabby shenanigans.  Damon offers peach cobbler to Mason with a silver serving utensil; Mason fishes a piece out with his hands and then says jovially, “I apologize, I’m an animal.” Alaric asks about Mason and Jenna’s history, he says she was too busy with Logan Fell to ever date him.  “He had the girls lining up,” Jenna says fondly. “Really?” says Damon. “I always pegged you for a lone wolf.”  “Well,” says Mason, maintaining eye contact, “I’m sure I wasn’t half the lady-killer you were.”  Okay guys, we get it, you’re very cool and clever.  Mason proposes a toast to new friends.
In the other room, Caroline and Elena are cleaning up pictionary, and Elena asks if it’s okay if she goes over to Stefan’s – he hasn’t gotten back to her all day, and she has a bad feeling about it. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Caroline says.  “Damon has it under control here,” Elena says, which is the most insane sentence ever spoken.  Caroline offers to drive her, and then lets the air out of one of her tires.  Up until this moment, I’d totally forgotten her little meeting with Katherine last episode.  Poor Caroline.
“Jenna’s bringing out guitar hero,” Mason tells Damon, “it might be time to mutiny.”  “Well I just happen to like guitar hero,” Damon says, “so you, my friend, are barking up the wrong tree.”  “Okay, enough with the innuendos, you win,” Mason says, “you’re hilarious.” “Thank you,” Damon says.  “Come on, man,” Mason says, half-sadly, “you think I don’t know what this barbecue is about?”  “How do you know about me?” Damon demands.  “Doesn’t matter,” Mason says, “I’m not your enemy, Damon.”  “You tried to kill my brother,” Damon says, flatly. Mason explains he has no control once he shifts, and just hadn’t been able to chain himself up in time.  “What, no obedience school?” Damon snarks.  “I’m serious,” Mason says, “let’s not spark some age old feud that doesn’t apply to us.”  They shake hands; Mason looks grateful.  Damon steals the Gilberts’ good silver knife.
Elena and Caroline drive off to the Salvatores’; Elena accuses Caroline of being snippy, Caroline says it’s her own drama. “I’m sure you two will beat the odds. Not that there’s any study to pull odds from…what is the ratio of success for vampire-human couplings?  I’m guessing nil.”  “Okay, Caroline,” Elena says.  The tire blows, and they pull over.  I’d honestly agree with Caroline – success for ‘human couplings’ is determined by those who die of old age, married, probably with grandchildren.  There are literally only tragic endings to vampire love stories - breakup or murder, with no one to carry on your legacy.
Mason wishes Alaric and Jenna goodbye, tells Alaric they’ll catch that game.  Damon follows him out.  “You are a wonderful hostess,” he tells Jenna, kissing her hand.  “And you are a terrible artist,” she answers.  “Is that the only thing that makes me terrible?” he says, surprised.  “Still deciding,” she admits.  “Good enough for me!” he says.  “Alaric?” Alaric smiles at him.  “Let’s not catch that game next week,” Damon says.  Awww.  Bros.
Elena and Caroline are still waiting for the tow truck, the sun fully set.  Elena says they can walk; Caroline says she can’t leave her car, and finally snaps, “Why are you in such a hurry to get to a relationship that’ll never work?” Elena accuses her of projecting her feelings about Matt onto her and Stefan; “I’m not projecting anything!” Caroline answers.  “He’s a vampire, you’re not.  You’re gonna be seventy and in diapers and he’s still gonna be smoking hot.  And – you will never have his children, Elena, and you are too maternal to not have children!”  Elena’s eyes widen.  “Where is this coming from?” she asks.  “I’m just trying to be your friend,” Caroline says.  “Well, do me a favor and stop trying,” Elena answers.  The tow arrives, Elena decides to walk, but Caroline grabs her. “Don’t leave me alone,” she begs. “What’s wrong with you?” Elena exclaims.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Damon catches up with Mason in town square. “What, more dog jokes?” Mason says. “Nah, those got old,” Damon says, and stabs him.  But of course, it turns out the silver thing is just a myth and Mason was trolling him with the cobbler.  “Now you’ve made an enemy,” Mason tells him.
Stefan asks Katherine what she’s doing in Mystic Falls. “Have you not listened to a word I’ve said?” she says. “I’ve answered that question five times over now.”  “Make it six,” he says.  “I want what I want, Stefan.  And I don’t care what I have to do to get it,” she says. “My list of victims is a long one and I have no problem adding one more name to that list.”  “Come on, Katherine,” he says, “if you wanted Elena dead you would have killed her by now.”  “I still could,” she says, “I could snap her neck like a twig and you know it.”  He grabs a stake, poises it to kill her, and then backs off, growling.  “Guess you don’t hate me as much as you thought you did,” she says, amused.  Then, authoritatively, “I don’t want you seeing Elena anymore.  If you don’t remove her from your life I will kill everyone she loves, while she watches, and then I will kill her, while you watch.” The stake comes back up, “Don’t think for one second that I won’t kill you,” Stefan says.  She throws him off her, and one-by-one, effortlessly, breaks her chains.  “I have been sipping vervain every day for the last one hundred and forty-five years, she says, standing over him where he fell.  “You caught me by surprise once, I wasn’t gonna let it happen again.  It doesn’t hurt me, Stefan.”  “What?” he says, “why – ?”  “I told you, Stefan,” she says, in what’s eerily close to baby-talk, “I missed you.  I just wanted to spend some time with you.”  Upstairs, Elena enters and calls for Stefan – he and Katherine look at each other, she stakes him through the leg and vamps upstairs.  Elena turns and finds herself face-to-face with herself.  “You must be Elena.”  To her credit, Elena completely skips fear and heads into problem-solving: “How is this possible – how do we look exactly alike?”  But Katherine only leans closer, examining her, until Elena starts to realize the danger she’s in. “You’re asking the wrong questions,” Katherine says.  Stefan appears, calling Elena’s name.  She spins to face him, and when she turns back around, Katherine’s gone.
Katherine corners Caroline in the Mystic bathroom. “Occupy her, that’s all I asked.” “I told her her relationship was doomed, and all that mortality stuff,” Caroline says, “I really think I got to her!” “Let’s hope so,” Katherine says, “I already killed you once, I can easily do it again.”
Mason tells Tyler that the way to trigger the curse is to kill somebody.  He didn’t want that to be hanging over Tyler the rest of his life, but Tyler admittedly caught him on a pretty bad day and he caved.
Elena and Stefan run into Caroline in the Grille; Caroline apologizes.  “Everything you were saying was right,” Elena admits, “it’s just hard for me to hear.” She and Stefan sit down and have a fight about whether she should be afraid of Katherine.  “If she had her way we’d be breaking up right now,” Elena says. “And if today taught me anything it’s that Katherine is used to getting her way,” Stefan says.  “This is what she wants, she wants us to fight, she wants to get between us,” Elena says, her voice quavering.  Stefan sighs, turns to her, says, “She already has, Elena.”  Elena nods, silently, and then gets up and leaves him sitting there.  Caroline, listening in, really does look sorry.
Tumblr media
And Damon looks…?
Tumblr media
Confused?  Conflicted? He was there for Elena the last time she and Stef were on the outs, but now they’re barely on speaking terms.  He leaves the bar, runs into Katherine. “Bad day?” she asks him.  “Bad century,” he answers, then adds, sounding strained, “Heard you were on the loose.”  “What’s the matter?” she says, “jealous I spent the day with Stefan?”  “I don’t do jealous,” he says, “not with you.  Not anymore.”  “Then why so pouty?” she asks, following him.  “Tried to kill a werewolf and failed,” he says, “and now I feel like I’m not living up to my best self.”  “Well, werewolves aren’t easy prey,” she says.  He stops, looks at her.  “What do you know about werewolves?”  “Why don’t you ask your brother?” she says, then adds, “don’t try to be the hero, Damon, you’ll end up dead.”
Tumblr media
“Been there, done that,” he says.  “At least this time it’ll be worth it.”
Tumblr media
He, it seems, really has made his peace with all her betrayals.  And something about this new life - his love for his brother, who he tells Mason he wants to protect, or perhaps something else? - makes even the possibility of a hero’s death worth it.  He only wanted to turn into a vampire to be with Katherine, and would have chosen death without her if it weren’t for Stefan - but he’ll die for Elena.
Elena gets home, finds Stefan waiting in her room; they faked their fight for the benefit of eavesdropping-Caroline, whom Elena realized was behaving strangely.  “I think Damon heard us fighting, too,” she says, “are you gonna tell him it wasn’t real?”  “The only way Katherine will believe it is if everyone believes it,” Stefan says.  “All this, just to get you back,” Elena says, shaken. Stefan scoffs, smiles at her, says, “It’s not why she’s here, okay?  No matter what she says, I know her.  Katherine doesn’t care about anybody but herself.  She never has, she’s incapable of love.”
Tumblr media
In the square, Katherine looks up at the moon and is thrown back into 1864, seeing the Salvatores’ bodies on the road the night of her escape.  She runs back, brushes Stefan’s hair from his lifeless face, speaks the words from his dream: “I love you, Stefan. We will be together again.”
Tumblr media
This episode is the Friday Night Bites of this season.  Stefan soliloquized then about how Damon was a monster incapable of love, while we watched Damon tenderly brush Elena’s hair off her sleeping face.  Here we are again – the question of the show is becoming clear: is anyone really only a monster? Or do we have to look again, even at someone as vicious and manipulative as Katherine Pierce?
Music Moments: Tyrone Wells’ “Time of Our Lives” plays while Stefan and Elena ‘fight’, and Sara Bareilles’ “Breath Again” plays over Stefan’s monologue about Katherine, and her memories of her last kiss with Stefan.

News and important updates on POS System Equipment & POS.
Scenes from The Searchers (1956), starring John Wayne and set during the Texas-Indian Wars. The film is considered one of the most influential Westerns ever made.
“It just so happens we be Texicans,” says Mrs. Jorgensen, an older woman wearing her blond hair in a tight bun, to rough-and-tumble cowboy Ethan Edwards in the 1956 film The Searchers. Mrs. Jorgensen, played by Olive Carey, and Edwards, played by John Wayne, sit on a porch facing the settling dusk sky, alone in a landscape that is empty as far as the eye can see: a sweeping desert vista painted with bright orange Technicolor. Set in 1868, the film lays out a particular telling of Texas history, one in which the land isn’t a fine or good place yet. But, with the help of white settlers willing to sacrifice everything, it’s a place where civilization will take root. Nearly 90 years after the events depicted in the film, audiences would come to theaters and celebrate those sacrifices.
“A Texican is nothing but a human man way out on a limb, this year and next. Maybe for 100 more. But I don’t think it’ll be forever,” Mrs. Jorgensen goes on. “Someday this country’s going to be a fine, good place to be. Maybe it needs our bones in the ground before that time can come.”
There’s a subtext in these lines that destabilizes the Western’s moral center, a politeness deployed by Jorgensen that keeps her from naming what the main characters in the film see as their real enemies: Indians.
In the film, the Comanche chief, Scar, has killed the Jorgensens’ son and Edwards’ family, and abducted his niece. Edwards and the rest of Company A of the Texas Rangers must find her. Their quest takes them across the most treacherous stretches of desert, a visually rich landscape that’s both glorious in its beauty and perilous given the presence of Comanche and other Indigenous people. In the world of the Western, brutality is banal, the dramatic landscape a backdrop for danger where innocent pioneers forge a civilization in the heart of darkness.
The themes of the Western are embodied by figures like Edwards: As a Texas Ranger, he represents the heroism of no-holds-barred policing that justifies conquest and colonization. While the real Texas Rangers’ history of extreme violence against communities of color is well-documented, in the film version, these frontier figures, like the Texas Rangers in The Searchers or in the long-running television show The Lone Ranger, have always been portrayed as sympathetic characters. Edwards is a cowboy with both a libertarian, “frontier justice” vigilante ethic and a badge that puts the law on his side, and stories in the Western are understood to be about the arc of justice: where the handsome, idealized male protagonist sets things right in a lawless, uncivilized land.
The Western has long been built on myths that both obscure and promote a history of racism, imperialism, toxic masculinity, and violent colonialism. For Westerns set in Texas, histories of slavery and dispossession are even more deeply buried. Yet the genre endures. Through period dramas and contemporary neo-Westerns, Hollywood continues to churn out films about the West. Even with contemporary pressures, the Western refuses to transform from a medium tied to profoundly conservative, nation-building narratives to one that’s truly capable of centering those long victimized and villainized: Indigenous, Latinx, Black, and women characters. Rooted in a country of contested visions, and a deep-seated tradition of denial, no film genre remains as quintessentially American, and Texan, as the Western, and none is quite so difficult to change.
*
With origins in the dime and pulp novels of the late 19th century, the Western first took to the big screen in the silent film era. The Great Train Robbery, a 1903 short, was perhaps the genre’s first celluloid hit, but 1939’s Stagecoach, starring Wayne, ushered in a new era of critical attention, as well as huge commercial success. Chronicling the perilous journey of a group of strangers riding together through dangerous Apache territory in a horse-drawn carriage, Stagecoach is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential Westerns of all time. It propelled Wayne to stardom.
During the genre’s golden age of the 1950s, more Westerns were produced than films of any other genre. Later in the 1960s, the heroic cowboy character—like Edwards in The Searchers—grew more complex and morally ambiguous. Known as “revisionist Westerns,” the films of this era looked back at cinematic and character traditions with a more critical eye. For example, director Sam Peckinpah, known for The Wild Bunch (1969), interrogated corruption and violence in society, while subgenres like spaghetti Westerns, named because most were directed by Italians, eschewed classic conventions by playing up the dramatics through extra gunfighting and new musical styles and creating narratives outside of the historical context. Think Clint Eastwood’s The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966).
Tumblr media
The Great Train Robbery (1903), a short silent film, was perhaps the first iconic Western.
In the wake of the anti-war movement and the return of the last U.S. combat forces from Vietnam in 1973, Westerns began to decline, replaced by sci-fi action films like Star Wars (1977). But in the 1990s, they saw a bit of rebirth, with Kevin Costner’s revisionist Western epic Dances With Wolves (1990) and Eastwood’s Unforgiven (1992) winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards. And today, directors like the Coen brothers (No Country for Old Men, True Grit) and Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Wind River, Sicario) are keeping the genre alive with neo-Westerns set in modern times.
Still, the Old West looms large, says cultural critic and historian Richard Slotkin. Today’s Western filmmakers know they are part of a tradition and take the task seriously, even the irreverent ones like Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino called Django Unchained (2012) a spaghetti Western and, at the same time, “a Southern.” Tarantino knows that the genre, like much of American film, is about violence, and specifically racialized violence: The film, set in Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi, flips the script by putting the gun in the hand of a freed slave.
Slotkin has written a series of books that examine the myth of the frontier and says that stories set there are drawn from history, which gives them the authority of being history. “A myth is an imaginative way of playing with a problem and trying to figure out where you draw lines, and when it’s right to draw lines,” he says. But the way history is made into mythology is all about who’s telling the story.
Slotkin’s work purports that the logic of westward expansion is, when boiled down to its basic components, “regeneration through violence.” Put simply: Kill or die. The very premise of the settling of the West is genocide. Settler colonialism functions this way; the elimination of Native people is its foundation. It’s impossible to talk about the history of the American West and of Texas without talking about violent displacement and expropriation.
“The Western dug its own hole,” says Adam Piron, a film programmer at the Sundance Indigenous Institute and a member of the Kiowa and Mohawk tribes. In his view, the perspectives of Indigenous people will always be difficult to express through a form tied to the myth of the frontier. Indigenous filmmakers working in Hollywood who seek to dismantle these representations, Piron says, often end up “cleaning somebody else’s mess … And you spend a lot of time explaining yourself, justifying why you’re telling this story.”
While the Western presents a highly manufactured, racist, and imperialist version of U.S. history, in Texas, the myth of exceptionalism is particularly glorified, perpetuating the belief that Texas cowboys, settlers, and lawmen are more independent, macho, and free than anywhere else. Texas was an especially large slave state, yet African Americans almost never appear in Texas-based Westerns, a further denial of histories. In The Searchers, Edwards’ commitment to the white supremacist values of the South is even stronger than it is to the state of Texas, but we aren’t meant to linger on it. When asked to make an oath to the Texas Rangers, he replies: “I figure a man’s only good for one oath at a time. I took mine to the Confederate States of America.” The Civil War scarcely comes up again.
The Texas Ranger is a key figure in the universe of the Western, even if Ranger characters have fraught relationships to their jobs, and the Ranger’s proliferation as an icon serves the dominant Texas myth. More than 300 movies and television series have featured a Texas Ranger. Before Chuck Norris’ role in the TV series Walker, Texas Ranger (1993-2001), the most famous on-screen Ranger was the titular character of The Lone Ranger (1949-1957). Tonto, his Potawatomi sidekick, helps the Lone Ranger fight crime in early settled Texas.
Meanwhile, the Ranger’s job throughout Texas history has included acting as a slave catcher and executioner of Native Americans. The group’s reign of terror lasted well into the 20th century in Mexican American communities, with Rangers committing a number of lynchings and helping to dispossess Mexican landowners. Yet period dramas like The Highwaymen (2019), about the Texas Rangers who stopped Bonnie and Clyde, and this year’s ill-advised reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger on the CW continue to valorize the renowned law enforcement agency. There is no neo-Western that casts the Texas Ranger in a role that more closely resembles the organization’s true history: as a villain.
Tumblr media
The Coen brothers’ No Country for Old Men (2007) ushered in the era of neo-Westerns set in modern times.
Ushered in by No Country for Old Men (2007), also set in Texas, the era of neo-Westerns has delivered films that take place in a modern, overdeveloped, contested West. Screenwriter Taylor Sheridan’s projects attempt to address racialized issues around land and violence, but they sometimes fall into the same traps as older, revisionist Westerns—the non-white characters he seeks to uplift remain on the films’ peripheries. In Wind River (2017), the case of a young Indigenous woman who is raped and murdered is solved valiantly by action star Jeremy Renner and a young, white FBI agent played by Elizabeth Olsen. Sheridan’s attempt to call attention to the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women still renders Indigenous women almost entirely invisible behind the images of white saviors.
There are directors who are challenging the white male gaze of the West, such as Chloé Zhao, whose recent film Nomadland dominated the 2021 Academy Award nominations. In 2017, Zhao’s film The Rider centered on a Lakota cowboy, a work nested in a larger cultural movement in the late 2010s that highlighted the untold histories of Native cowboys, Black cowboys, and vaqueros, historically Mexican cowboys whose ranching practices are the foundation of the U.S. cowboy tradition. And Concrete Cowboy, directed by Ricky Staub and released on Netflix in April, depicts a Black urban horse riding club in Philadelphia. In taking back the mythology of the cowboy, a Texas centerpiece and symbol, perhaps a new subgenre of the Western is forming.
Despite new iterations, the Western has not been transformed. Still a profoundly patriotic genre, the Western is most often remembered for its classics, which helped fortify the historical narrative that regeneration through violence was necessary for the forging of a nation. In Texas, the claim made by Mrs. Jorgensen in The Searchers remains a deeply internalized one: The history of Texas is that of a land infused with danger, a land that required brave defenders, and a land whose future demanded death to prosper.
In Westerns set in the present day, it feels as if the Wild West has been settled but not tamed. Americans still haven’t learned how to live peacefully on the land, respect Indigenous people, or altogether break out of destructive patterns of domination. The genre isn’t where most people look for depictions of liberation and inclusion in Texas. Still, like Texas, the Western is a contested terrain with an unclear future. John Wayne’s old-fashioned values are just one way to be; the Western is just one way of telling our story.

When I Was Your Man (Jacob Black x ex! reader)
Key-
Y/n - Your name  Y/l/n - Your last name   Y/e/c - your eye color                      Y/h/c - your hair color
Prompt - Songfic based on Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man”. Jacob severely neglected the reader for Bella and they broke up with him. After this Jacob realizes how much he loved them through flashbacks due to certain items, the next time he sees the reader they’re with Embry...the wolf that imprinted on them.(A lot of gifs sorry!)
Word Count - 1,618
Tumblr media
“Same bed but it feels just a little bit bigger now“
Jacob turned in his bed and looked to the empty side, the side where Y/n used to sleep. His mind immediately flashed back to the good mornings they spent together, the mornings when he’d turn to see them with a goofy smile and a crazy bed head. The two would share a small kiss and Y/n would play with Jake’s hair while they talked, but those were the good mornings.
Those were the mornings before Jake phased, before Bella clung to him, before he began to neglect the one person who loved him for someone who didn’t. Jacob blew the air from his cheeks as an aching feeling filled his heart, the bed felt so empty without his lovely Y/n……
Tumblr media
“Our song on the radio but it don't sound the same”
Jacob, Quil, and Seth sat around in the Black’s garage as Jake continues tinkering on his car. The other two wolves did most of the talking and Jake would occasionally let out his input from his place rolled under the car, eventually Seth grew quite bored of the awkward silences and put on the radio. Jacob took a break and sat on the creeper while drinking some soda, laughing occasionally when Quil and Seth would burst into song when they heard specific lyrics of their favorite songs.
The atmosphere was light and happy, buzzing with energy until the spokesperson announced what song the station was going to play. Seth and Quil watched as the smile left Jake’s face slowly, watched as the pain etched into his face with certain lyrics. He could see Y/n, singing along to the song as he drove them both on dates and the song played.
The way their y/e/c eyes would light up as they’d belt the lyrics, the way they’d dance in the passenger seat along to the beat and a blush would cover their cheeks when they noticed he was watching them. The aching feeling came back just a little stronger this time and Quil shut off the radio, sure Jacob liked the song but it just wasn’t the same without Y/n there…
Tumblr media
“When our friends talk about you, all it does is just tear me down 'Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name”
Jacob hadn’t seen Charlie since before the breakup, neither of you had. People would always say that he and Billy Black were the relationships biggest supporters, they were the type that believed you’d get married. That’s why when Jake saw Charlie’s cruiser pull up a lump formed in his throat, at least Charlie wasn’t one for making a huge scene in public.
He made it to the living room when the chief walked into the house, his dark eyes immediately searching for his friend and his kid.
“Hey Charlie” Jacob greeted in a fake cheery voice, hoping to god that Charlie wouldn’t bring up Y/n at all.
“Hey Jake, where’s Y/n? You and that kid share a brain” Charlie asked with a smile, a twinge of pain shot through Jake’s chest as he remembered the fishing trip they all went on a year ago.
Y/n had spent a good fraction of the time complaining about the bugs and sun glare, the other fraction though they had been absolutely adorable to Jake. He remembers their concentrating face, the way their nose would wrinkle and eyes would squint as they tried to patiently wait for a fish to bite their line.
Charlie watched the smile fall from the young boys face in confusion, Billy sighed and gave Jake a sad smile.
“We broke up a few weeks ago” and Charlie immediately felt awkward and horrible.
“I didn’t know kid, I’m sorry” The chief said sincerely and Jacob smiled a sad smile.
“It’s alright Charlie, you didn’t know”. Jacob was starting to understand why his heart hurt so bad when he thought of you…
Tumblr media
“too dumb to realize; That I should have bought you flowers; And held your hand ;Should have gave you all my hours When I had the chance;Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance”
Only after the breakup settled with him did Jacob enjoy the pack mind, it was always clustered and he was always distracted from his thoughts.
This was until Jared begged Jacob to run his rounds for him so he could see his imprint, Jacob only said yes because Jared was extremely persistent and who was he to deny Jared sex or love?
His paws thudded against the ground as he ran watch for both him and Jared, his abnormally large wolf body wading through the trees perfectly as he kept his senses aware for the sick smell of leeches. His dark eyes skimming the trees around him so he didn’t crash suddenly when he saw an indent in one that made him skid to a stop, once finally stopped Jacob went over to the tree and got a better look at the indentation.
An older mark showed that a heart was carved into an area where the bark was peeled off, inside the heart were the initials of Jacob and Y/n’s names.
A high-pitched wailing whine fell from Jacob’s wolf, the heart had scratches over top of it that looked a few weeks old. The scratches were made with a human’s nails, he sniffed it and it smelt of his sweet Y/n. No not his anymore, he ruined their relationship.
He was too stupid to realize that Y/n needed him just as much as Bella did, maybe more. He realized that Y/n deserved him giving them their favorite flowers because the damn flowers always cheered them up, always brought the smile that Jake loved to their face.
Jacob realized just how much Y/n loved PDA, realized that he should have held their hand instead of been texting and conversing with Bella. Jacob registered that he could’ve spent so much more time with his significant other between pack meetings and spending time with Bella, instead he spent all his extra time with Bella.
He could’ve stayed late with Y/n when they had dates or went to parties so they could dance, he knew how much they loved dancing and he could’ve let them do what they loved. Now he couldn’t do that though, because he broke them up with all of his neglect….
Tumblr media
“Now my baby's dancing; But she's dancing with another man”
Jacob picked at the muffin on his plate, ever since he realized everything he did his mood has been even worse. It didn’t help that no one knew where his best friend had gone last night, Embry had suddenly disappeared.
“Jacob…” Leah sighed from beside him, patting his arm lightly because she understood how he was feeling now but knew it was his fault.
“I’m fine Leah” Jake grumbled shoving another piece of muffin in his mouth, Paul snorted from across the table and shook his head while shoving food in his mouth.
“Hey guys” Embry’s cheery voice called through the air and everyone erupted into questions, Jake though that Sam was going to kill him judging by his tone of voice.
“I’m sorry Sam, I was with my imprint” Embry said scratching the back of his neck before the pack collectively asked “You Imprinted!?”
The lanky boy chuckled nervously at his packmates before glancing at Jacob, Embry gulped and sat as far away as he could.
“Yeah and they really like to dance, I didn’t keep track of time” After he spoke Embry grabbed some food and immediately looked down at it.
Jacob heard ringing, his heart began thumping in his chest as that painful aching feeling filled his chest again but now it was four times as strong.
He now knew why Embry sat away from him.
“Are you serious?” It came out a little colder than Jacob first expected and Embry shrunk slightly in his seat.
“Yeah…everyone I imprinted on Y/n” Embry said and the pack double took, Jacob ran outside and phased before running into the woods.
“It’s alright Embry” Sam said before following the extremely loud whines and yowls coming from the woods outside his house….
Tumblr media
“My pride, my ego, my needs, and my selfish ways; Caused a good strong woman like you to walk out my life; Now I never, never get to clean up the mess I made, oh; And it haunts me every time I close my eyes”
Sam, Jared, and Paul followed Jacob into the woods and phased. They all stayed quiet as they heard all the thoughts swirling through Jacob’s mind, all of them whining as they feel the pain radiating off him.
All he could think about was how much he fucked up, Y/n was the best thing that ever happened to him and he neglected them. They loved him and he loved them, he still loved them and he let it go on some schoolboy crush.
He let Y/n go and now he could never ever get them back, he could never right the wrongs he’d done. He was so self-congratulatory that Bella had seemingly chosen him over the bloodsucker that he focused on her, not the one who actually loved him and cared for his wellbeing.
Y/n was one of the strongest people in his life, they were his rock throughout everything and he broke their heart.
But now they were gone and never coming back to him, all because of him. Why was he such an idiot? Bella never loved him and now ruined everything
Tumblr media
“Although it hurts; I'll be the first to say that I was wrong; Oh, I know I'm probably much too late; To try and apologize for my mistakes; But I just want you to know I hope he buys you flowers; I hope he holds your hand; Give you all his hours; When he has the chance; Take you to every party: 'Cause I remember how much you loved to dance; Do all the things I should have done ;When I was your man ;Do all the things I should have done ;When I was your man”
Jacob was laughing for the first time in weeks, he and Leah had been joking around for a good portion of this bonfire when they saw two people walk down. Y/n was walking next to Embry and he wrapped his arms around their shoulders, Leah smiled and Jacob couldn’t help the sad smile that came to his lips. It was much too late for him to take back everything but he had apologized and they made up, slowly a friendship was blossoming.
Embry was perfect for them, it was everything Jacob hoped would happen to Y/n. Embry gave them the attention they deserved, He bought them their favorite flowers on a daily basis, Embry loved showing them off and holding their hand, He took them to so many parties because both he and Jake knew how much Y/n loves parties.
Embry did everything for Y/n and sometimes it made Jacob smile, he did everything Jake didn’t do when he was their man.

RFA + Minor Trio react to MC being cast as Janet Wise in Rocky Horror Picture Show
Before I start, I just want to say I had to watch the musical specifically for this request and I loved it! I mean I’m still very confused but I really really liked it so thank you ^^
I love getting requests like this because they help me discover new things, so feel free to send me some, as long as it’s not about a long show it would take ages to watch. If you wanna check what fandoms I’m in there’s a list on my other blog here. Anyway, enjoy the HCs, I had so much fun writing them (while listening to the soundtrack) and I hope you do too reading them ^^
Yoosung:
when you told him, he immediately did research
and sat down with you to watch the movie
he was smiling at first, but he was already frowning at Dammit, Janet
I mean, he’s a jealous bean
knowing a man was gonna propose to you and act as your fiancè for the entire musical wasn’t exactly appealing to him
you watched his expression the entire time, as he got traumatized by Tim Curry multiple times
then, just as he was done recovering from the scenes in Janet and Brad’s bedrooms
it was time for Touch-a Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me
wanting to be a supportive boyfriend, he tried not to show his emotions
but his face was red and he looked like he wasn’t breathing
I mean, what boyfriend would not be jealous knowing a stranger was going to be touching you like that
and in front of a lot of people too!
the final section just confused him
and after the movie was over an awkward silence filled the room
he didn’t want to kill your excitement but he was kind of opposed to you taking the role
especially after it sinked in that you were going to be in you underwear for most of the musical
he didn’t say it out loud but you could tell
it was a long night
of you explaining to him that it was all fiction
and that a theatre version is much less realistic than a tv version
hence you weren’t going to actually kiss anyone
the touching was another thing but again, it was all fake
he still wasn’t convinced so you pulled out the guilt card
”Alright, I’m going to turn it down if you really don’t want me to do it.” you pouted
his eyes widened
”N-no! I didn’t mean- It’s just-”
this boy loved you too much to let you give up on your passions
but he asked you to please avoid being too touchy with the guys
reasonable
Zen:
he knew what the musical was about the moment you mentioned the name
he had already watched it, of course
and it wasn’t hard for him to manage to get cast as Rocky
he would have to wear a wig and get a tan but he didn’t care
he’s just too jealous to let anyone else play that role knowing what you two were going to be doing
and he wanted to protect you from potential wolves of course
when rehearsals began, you could see him giving dirty looks to the guys who played Brad and Frank-N-Furter every time they tried to have a conversation with you
“But Zen, getting to know the people you’re gonna be acting with is important, you should know that”
”Yeah, sorry.”
but he kept one arm around your waist while glaring at the guys through the entire conversation
when it was time for the Dammit, Janet part all you could think about was him singing it
since he’d found out you were going to play her he’d been singing it to you non-stop every day
then of course every time you practiced THE scene between your two characters
both at rehearsal and at home in your own time
he got really into it
like REALLY into it
the director had to stop him once because he was about to rip his clothes off
from that point on he tried to act more chill about it
but still didn’t hesitate in touching and kissing you as much as possible even knowing there were a lot of people watching
he loves a good audience
kinky shit
Jaehee:
she loves musicals
so of course she was very happy and excited for you when you gave her the news
even though she knew what the musical was about
and it had always been kinda… weird to her
she’d been an expert in that field for too long though
she knew very well that everything was fake and she had no reason to worry about anything
another thing she knew very well was how gay you actually were
so she didn’t have any problems with that
she’s such a supportive girlfriend
she helped you learn your lines and sang the songs with you whenever she had some spare time
and the night of the show she managed to get a free night from Jumin and came to see you
she had booked a seat in the front row and was there to support you
she clapped and shouted every time you came on stage
and got kind of self conscious during certain parts where your almost naked self was too exposed to the others
but she focused on looking at you and just thought about how proud she was
you had to hit pretty high notes and you nailed all of them
and she had rehearsed with you so many times she knew the script by heart
to the point where her lips were moving according to what was going to be said next
when the show was over a bunch of young boys gathered around you to congratulate you on your performance
and it was clear they were trying to flirt with you
pathetic
she came up to you slightly annoyed
”You were great today, sweetheart.” she smiled and kissed you on the lips as if wanting to claim you
that was a clear message to the boys, who turned on their heels and left
she may be fine with guys acting as your fiancè, sex companion or whatever
but no way she would let anyone actually hit on HER girl
Jumin:
he was so happy for you when you told him
you could have sworn you’d seen a int of a bright, excited smile for a second
he’s so proud of all of your accomplishments and now you were going to star in a musical!! That’s exciting!
right?
well;;;
he asked you to tell him the plot of the musical
how do you even explain it
it took you like an hour
and when you were done you looked at his face and saw a mix of confusion and shock
he decided to come with you at rehearsals to try and understand a little better
he arrived after a meeting and found Frank-N-Furter singing Sweet Transvestite
you saw him come in from the side of the stage and you couldn’t stop laughing
his expression was priceless
but he sat down and patiently waited for you to start singing
you saying you didn’t like muscular men made him pout right at you
you gave him a small smile as a response
he wasn’t an expert in this field
he’d never been interested in it so he didn’t know how kisses and stuff like that worked on stage
and when the scene with Janet and the doctor in the bedroom came up he tensed up
he didn’t think much of it because there was a curtain covering you so it could just be perspective
but when certain more explicit scenes were performed he felt really uncomfortable and jealous
you kept glancing at him and you could tell
although he knew everything was fake it was still hard for him to watch you kiss and touch and most importantly BE TOUCHED by another man
he didn’t completely agree with the idea of you playing the role but you explained to him how fake everything was
after all it wasn’t the original movie, just a theatre adaptation
you showed him every fake move you’d learnt
and then reenacted the scenes WITH the touching
707:
he immediately knew what you were talking about the moment you mentioned it
so after congratulating you on your role he asked you to wait for him and disappeared into his room for an hour
when he came back you almost fell off the couch from laughing
he was wearing a black wig, dark red lipstick and white foundation
and was covered in a cape
you knew what was coming
he grabbed your hand to make you stand and started singing sweet transvestite while dancing around you
when he took off the cape your emotions were mixed
am I surprised? am I shook by how accurate it is? am I turned on by how good he looks?
it was a mess
but the outfit did look extremely good on him
after he was done singing you hugged him and complimented his cosplay
he was very flattered but he had other thoughts on his mind
surprisingly he knew every song by heart
so he asked you to reenact some together
except he wanted to be Janet
his performance of Touch-a Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me was out of this world
you liked it so much that it became a habit of his to sing it during sexy times just to mock you
and let’s not forget how he would never stop teasing you by singing Planet Schmanet Janet
and how it became an inside joke of yours to start repeating each other’s names multiple time every time you met
he lowkey stanned Columbia
like literally at every performance he would go to he would ask the actress for autographs or pictures while you just stood there
he got so salty whenever the guys got lines wrong
like he would correct them under his breath and you would just laugh like an idiot because you were able to see it from the stage
he’s so supportive though, every time he noticed you were looking at him he would smile and give you a double thumbs up to let you know you were doing great
he was also very loud during live performance, standing up and cheering while shouting your name or Janet’s
V:
when he found out he smiled so wide
he picked you up from the ground and spun you around and hugged you
he was genuinely happy of what you had accomplished and he knew how much you’d worked to get a role
but when you watched the movie together he was kind of uncomfortable and confused
though he wasn’t jealous
like of course the idea of you being with not one, not two but three men didn’t excite him
but the most important thing was that you had a role and he was going to support you no matter what
plus he had worked hard on his confidence and all that so he knew he didn’t have to worry about anything
he was very interested in the story though
he started making theories to try and understand what was going on
and every time he could he would bring it up and ask for your opinion
he got super into it
the fact that he was showing so much interest in something you were also passionate about made you extremely happy
and considering you were actually afraid of his reaction to watching the movie you were also very relieved
he was obsessed with the way you played the character
because of course he would help you with your lines every time you needed it
he was good at playing the other characters to help you visualize the scenes
although he would occasionally stop and stare at you while you were singing or just talking because he found you so outstandingly perfect at everything you did
when it was time for the debut and he came to see you he started tearing up in the middle of There’s A Light because ”look that’s my girlfriend she’s so talented and oMG DID YOU HEAR THAT HIGH NOTE“
any time the public applauded he would stand up and clap his hands frantically
the cutest
Saeran:
for a second he was happy for you
then lil Seven who was spying on you told him about the scenes
he got paler than he already was
who knew that was possible
you cursed at Seven and sat down next to your boyfriend to explain the usual stuff
it’s not like you weren’t expecting this kind of reaction
you even told him you were willing to turn down the role if he really didn’t want you to play Janet
”NONONONONONO WAIT”
he tried not to show his insecurity and dropped it
but he wasn’t good at hiding his feelings
so it was pretty obvious to you that he was keeping himself from saying anything because he loved you and didn’t want you to give up something that made you happy
you wanted him to feel safe and stop worrying so you called the girl who was going to play Columbia to ask her for help
when she came over you asked her to demonstrate what actually happened on stage during particularly intense scenes, which this musical was surely not lacking
when you told Saeran she was going to be demonstrating it on him he was confused
like why couldn’t you demonstrate them instead of her
to which you responded “Because if I did I wouldn’t be able to stop”
you knew exactly how to feed his ego and make him feel more comfortable and confident and that was exactly the effect your words had on him
after the session with Columbia he was much happier and calmer
he didn’t feel like coming to the rehearsals though
so the first time he actually saw the play was on the night of the actual show
saying he was shook would be an understatement
he had so much fun, though, because he really liked the dark side of it all
and dr. Frank-N-Furter, surprisingly
he was vERY surprised by your acting and singing
and any time a particularly steamy scene would come up he would concentrate on remembering how fake it all was
boy is evolving, MC is proud
Vanderwood:
“A musical? You can sing?”
he immediately requested you sing something for him
which you did
when you were done he stood up and applauded you
then surprisingly it turned out he was great at singing, too
you asked him if he wanted to try for a part in your musical
but he refused, he wasn’t really the type to expose himself to an audience
but since you had the privilege of being the exception to the rule
you made him sing The Sword Of Damocles because why not
when rehearsals began he told you he didn’t like being in that environment
but he couldn’t have missed your live performance for the world
so he dressed up with the most elegant suit he had and went to the theatre with you, bringing all his courage along with him
he thought it would be trouble to sit in the middle of that big crowd
they could recognize him or remember his face and that wouldn’t be good
but all that paranoia disappeared as soon as the show started
all he could focus on was you
and, since he had found the time to check out the movie, keep an eye on the guys
he didn’t mind too much but, since you were very attractive to him he was scared they would take advantage of the situation
fortunately for them, they didn’t
when you met up after the show he had so much to say about the performances
not yours, yours was perfect
stuff like “Tim Curry is turning in his grave”
”Babe he’s not dead”
”Yeah but if he was, he would be turning in his grave”
he filled you with compliments though
which was surprising because he didn’t do it a lot
but it never hurt to hear his flattering words every once in a while
