I recently had to do a project in one of my psych classes, and man, I knew that CBT was used for every little thing, but seeing over and over, "do CBT! CBT is the best for every mental illness!" was so jarring. I'm absolutely biased because of my own experiences, but I just don't think it's as universal a treatment model as it's touted.
If you didn't benefit from CBT, it's not because you're lazy or didn't try hard enough or lacked intelligence or foresight into your own needs. Frankly, it's a therapy model that (I think) shouldn't be the only readily-accessible model and among the only therapy models covered by insurance. Some of us should not be treated in a CBT model and that's okay. It's not a sign of poor character or unreasonable demands, and if you don't think it's a model that works for you, then it's your right to express that!

something so special about the pet name big guy. like yeah,, big boy with an even bigger appetite. the trashcan of his friends, the bottomless pit who seems to be able to eat for a family of five and then ask what's for dessert - but even he sometimes manages to overeat and needs a belly rub. probably a little embarrassed about it bc he's been warned this will happen with the large amounts he regularly eats. hell yeah i love me a big guy <333

Allow me to present to you: Dead Moon Spirit AU.
"Ninety-five years after the Air Nomad Genocide, the war ends. There is no winner, nor loser. There are simply those who are still alive, and those who are not.
Ninety-five years after the Air Nomad Genocide, Admiral Zhao of the Fire Nation kills the Moon Spirit, and the Ocean roars. The sun hides away, and the only light is that of the seas, so very blue, and so very angry.
Ninety-seven years after the Air Nomad Genocide, Crown Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation is burned and banished, sent beyond the protected walls of Caldera, told he can only return if he kills the Ocean Spirit and brings the world back into balance.
No one has seen the stars since the night the moon died.
Ninety-nine years after the Air Nomad Genocide, in a South Pole ruled by darkness and cold, a beam of light shoots into the sky."
If I'm being totally honest with you, though, most of this story is me both testing out a different style, as well as pushing my Zuko-and-Yue-Bestie agenda.
I'm steadily working through it. It's a different writing style from my usual, and will probably only be a few parts, but I love it with all my heart.
I don't know quite when it'll be done, but I'm working through it steadily, in between writing for Fractures and BMaFT, so we'll see.

The horror of immortal whumpee with superhealing. The horror of not leaving scars. The horror of it's not visible, it's not lasting, so it didn't happen.
You can hurt them and hurt them and hurt them and hurt them and hurt them again.
And everyone just sees clear skin, sees youthfulness. No evidence of suffering remains.
It doesn't look like anything happened to them, so how could they still suffer from it?
Why should others give them empathy, give them care, when there's nothing to care about. Why should they themselves?
Just look at them. Nothing happened.

i've been in a very "nostalgic for SpongeBob" mood lately and that's warranted a lot of reflecting on Baby Me being a Sponge fanatic and thinking of what she'd think of now. and i have to say that one of my favorite parts of doing what i do--and also the most stupidly niche--is that one of my first online hyperfixations i recall having was SpongeBob production music. i remember animating magical girl transformations in Flipnote to SPONGEBOB MUSIC. i remember feeling so smart researching all the songs and getting to hear them without any dialogue on top. very gratifying to 11 year old me. i was and am still very fixated on production music, and so i always get very excited when seeing uploads of these songs and spotting a screenshot of a scene i worked on among them. one of my favorite aspects of watching episodes premiere is seeing what music they added on top of scenes i touched. it's just neat how many facets my thankfulness for Doing What I'm Doing gets to reach. i'm never not thinking of how grateful i am to be doing what i'm doing
