THE JAW OF VICTORY
This New Years, I played in The Jaw of Victory, a Locked Tomb LARP written and run by @psychick. It was fantastic! The Premise: You are necromancers and cavaliers who have been sent by their Houses to serve in the Cohort. You all have just finished quashing the rebellion on a planet called Gliese 667 Cc out in the middle of nowhere and are having a little party for yourselves before returning to civilized space. Fighting on Gliese was hard, and a lot of the cities on the planet were destroyed, so its citizens will be relocated to a different planet. This happens all the time and it’s not your problem! (The Blood of Eden may disagree.) Tonight Admiral Trillium Gamma is hosting a party to celebrate the victory and award special commendations for service and valor in the name of His Eternal Kindliness, the Necrolord Prime. The dress code has been relaxed, and attendees are encouraged to express themselves and their Houses in their costuming. Games, gossip, duels and romance are in the air!  But not all was as it seemed, and plots and treachery were afoot, and so started a murder mystery with many more secrets to uncover...

loving her was red, pt 3

MINORS DNI
Pairing: Dark!Ethan Landry x Fem!Reader
Content Includes: Smut, drinking
Summary: As Ethan gets her back, he realizes how harder it's going to be to keep her safe.
part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5 part 6 part 7
Ethan had a plan. He was going to one, get Y/N back, and two, kill that motherfucker Chad. That night after Y/N ended things with Ethan, he started planning out strategies. He had multiple ways to try to get her back, but he was full of anxiety, afraid it wouldn’t work. He texted Anika and asked if everyone was still going to the party the next day, and to her knowledge she said yes. Now, at this point, he wanted to try and patch things up with Chad, regain his trust and friendship.
Chad was sat on the edge of his bed, slipping his old cowboy boots on. He sighed as he glanced at himself in his mirror. He was clad in a tan cowboy hat, an old faded red bandana that sat around his neck, and blue jeans. Normally, he would be confident in himself being shirtless, but after the event that happened the previous night, he wasn’t feeling so confident.
He sent a text to Mindy telling her he was on his way to pick her and Anika up. He huffed as he heard a knock on his door, standing up and swiftly opening the door. He was met with Ethan who had a nervous expression shown on his face.
“Hey, can we talk?”
Chad looked at him with a blank state. “I don’t want to talk to you.”
Chad walked around him and headed into the kitchen, Ethan following behind. “Look, I get that you hate me and rightfully so,” Ethan started as Chad reached into the fridge for a beer. “I’m really sorry, and if it makes it any better I stopped seeing her.” Chad slammed the fridge door shut and twisted the lid off the bottle. He looked at Ethan as he took a swig.
“I care more about our friendship, Chad. I was an idiot.”
Chad nodded as he took another sip, which led to Ethan trying to hold back a smile.
“You’re my best friend. No girl is more important.” It was all lies, she was more important than Chad. She was more important than everything.
Chad leaned his back against the counter as he thought about what Ethan said. “You’re my best friend too,” Chad said. Ethan looked at him and smiled cheerfully.
“But, what you did was fucked up. You said you wouldn’t do anything, and literally right after, I walk in on your tongue shoved down her throat.”
Ethan looked down as he nodded. “You’re right, but when you told me about your crush, we were already seeing each other. I should’ve told you, I just didn’t want to hurt your feelings.”
Chad sighed at Ethan’s words. He blinked rapidly trying to make the tears go away. “You’re done with her? Even as friends?” He asked hopefully.
“I’m done with her. I won’t talk to her again.”
Chad solemnly smiled as he held his hand out to Ethan. Ethan took his hand and pulled him into a hug. “I missed you.” He said, patting Chad’s back.
Chad chuckled at him as he pulled away. “It’s been one day dude.”
Ethan laughed along with him, putting his hands in his pockets. “I know, but I had to play Valorant last night without you.”
The two laughed at Ethan’s words, like nothing even happened. Chad told him to go put his costume on so they could leave for the party, and as Ethan changed he thought of how dumb Chad was for forgiving him.
On the way to the party, Ethan noticed Mindy glancing at him the entire time. He brushed it off as Chad wrapped his arm around his shoulder.
“Hey, Y/N said she and Tara just got there.” Anika said looking up from her phone. At the sound of her name, the two boys looked at each other awkwardly. Chad nodded at Anika.
As the group approached the frat house, Ethan felt giddy at the thought of seeing Y/N again. He could barely hear anything as the music grew louder further into the party. He stepped around intoxicated people as he followed Anika into the kitchen, hoping to lose Chad in the process. Anika poured two shots for the both of them, handing one to Ethan. “You know I don’t drink, Anika.” he said looking into the shot.
“Just loosen up, maybe it’ll get rid of your nerves. Then you can find a girlfriend.” she squealed, drawing out the ‘d’ in ‘girlfriend’.
He smiled embarrassedly and scrunched his nose. “I don’t need a girlfriend.” he stated as he forced himself to down the shot. Anika cheered at him and followed with downing her shot. “Where’s Y/N?”
Anika shrugged and looked around. “Somewhere,”
Ethan heard someone shout his name, and he whipped his head towards the sound. His face fell once he saw it was Tara. “Hey, Ethan,” she yelled once again. He nodded at her, stepping closer to her. She was wearing a cheap pirate costume, with a silky bandana on her head.
“Hi Tara, what’s up?” He answered.
She waved at someone briefly. who passed by before turning back to Ethan. “Y/N was talking about you earlier.”
Ethan’s eyes lit up at Tara. Of course she was talking about him; he knew that she cared about him more than just a casual hookup. This proved his theories, about her, she loved him, in the way he loved her. “I wouldn’t be smiling like that if I were you.”
Oh.
“W-Why?” Ethan stammered, now worried.
Tara rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. “She said she wished you didn’t come, something about a fight with Chad.” Chad. He was the bane of Ethan’s existence. Oh, how he would love to plunge a knife deep in his chest.
“Oh, well, Chad and I are good now.”
“What happened?” she asked, smiling mischievously, leaning forward on her elbows that were resting on the counter. Ethan knew this look, Y/N did it all the time. Tara was trying to get him to fess up using her looks to her advantage; it almost worked on Ethan if he wasn’t so in love with Y/N.
He couldn’t even answer before Y/N came rushing in after Tara. She stumbled next to her tugging on her arm. “Tara! Jesus Christ, did you tell him?” she yelled drunkenly at her. Ethan’s eyes traced over her body as the two girls argued. She was wearing her Tiffany Valentine costume like she had said, but she didn’t go into detail about how much her dress hugged her curves. Her breasts looked like they were spilling out at the top, and her ass was basically out for everyone to see. His eyes trailed down her legs, where she wore black lace stockings. God, if he could, he would absolutely ravish her on the kitchen counter.
“You literally said you didn’t care if he knew.” Tara argued with her. Y/N rolled her eyes as she groaned at her friend. She hadn’t looked at Ethan once.
“Whatever,” Y/N said, reaching over for a bottle of liquor. Tara smiled playfully before walking away from the two, swinging her hips as she walked out. He looked back at Y/N, who was pouring the liquor in a shot glass, to the brim.
Ethan rushed to put his hands on hers. “Woah, woah, you should pace yourself.” He warned her. She jerked her hand away from him, and glared as she downed the whole shot. She winced slightly. “Can we talk?”
She shook her head as she began to pour another shot. He sighed as he watched her fill up the glass again. “Stop.” He said, grabbing at her hands again. She cursed at him as she tried to yank her hands away. His grip stayed strong on the glass, before she pulled really harshly on the glass. His fingers slipped on the glass causing her to pull it back towards her, spilling it on her dress. Her eyes watered as she looked up at him, then looked at her dress.
“Y/N…I’m, I’m so sorry,”
“You’re such a dick.” she yelled. She stormed out of the kitchen, leaving Ethan. He immediately chased after her, following her to a bathroom. She was wringing out her dress in her fists over the sink, softly crying. His eyes threatened to water as he stepped in and closed the door, locking it.
“Get out,” she whispered.
“No,” he argued. “I’m going to stay with you.”
She held her head down as she cried more. “Don’t cry, it’s just a dress. I can get you a thousand dresses.” Ethan comforted her.
“I don’t care about the stupid fucking dress.” she whined softly as he rubbed her back. “I care about you, and I don’t want to.”
Ethan looked in the mirror at her reflection with confusion. “W-What?”
She groaned as she stepped to the side and sat on the edge of the tub. She laid her head on her knees. Ethan stood still for a moment, thinking about what to do. He hesitantly sat down next to her as his head dropped looking at his shoes. “I never meant for myself to get to this point.”
“What point?” he asked softly. He turned his head towards her and leaned his knee over to touch hers.
“I want you. More than friends. More than…fuck-buddies or whatever we were.” she said, raising her head up from her knees. A few tears rolled down her cheeks as she stared at him sadly. He slowly reached to take his cardboard helmet off. He held his hand up to her face to wipe away her tears.
“There’s nothing wrong with that. I feel the same way.” Ethan said, gently stroking strands of her hair out of her face.
She shook her head and closed her eyes. “I can’t be with you…Chad.” She admitted.
Ethan had heard enough about Chad. Chad was the reason Ethan couldn’t be happy, and now he was the reason Y/N couldn’t be happy.
“What about Chad?” He asked.
“You know.”
He rolled his eyes away from her. He was tired of her worrying about Chad more than him, he was the one she should have been worried about. “I don’t care about Chad.” She looked away momentarily, like she was disappointed in him. Maybe he should have said something else
“I-I mean… He told me he was over you today.” Ethan spoke in a softer tone. “Maybe we can keep it a secret? Just in case?”
She inhaled deeply at the thought. “Maybe,” she thought out loud.
He looked at her with hope in his eyes. “Yeah?” He asked, hoping she would say yes. She looked at him, a small smile beginning to form. He scooched closer to her, hips and arms touching. He leaned his head down a bit and allowed his lips to hover slightly above hers. She looked down at his lips, and she leaned forward pressing her lips to his.
Ethan sighed with pleasure, his hands immediately finding their way to her body. He missed this, this felt good, it felt right. She was the one for him, and he was the one for her. Their lips moved against each other in a perfect synchronized motion. He pulled away from her to catch his breath, and he looked at her disheveled state. Her lips were plump and a redder color from moments ago.
He slid off the tub onto his knees, never breaking eye contact with her. She gasped as he put his hands on her knees, slowly widening her legs.
“Let me taste you, sweetheart,”
She nodded and allowed him to take off her stockings and panties. Ethan’s mouth opened when he saw her panties. They were a red lacy thong; he pocketed it for later.
He slid the bottom of her dress up to her hips. She hummed softly as he stuck his face in between her thighs. He looked up at her before looking back to her pussy. He licked a stripe along her, causing her to moan.
For a few minutes he licked and sucked, as if he was a starving man and she was a never-ending buffet. Her moans and the way she smelled started to make his pants feel tighter. He started focusing on her clit, harshly licking circles around it. She whined and grinded into his face, approaching her climax.
He stuck two fingers inside of her, instantly curling deep in her walls as he sucked her clit. He felt herself tighten around him, and he hastily reached down to undo his pants to jerk off.
“Oh fuck, fuck, fuck,” she moaned loudly, throwing her head back. Ethan groaned into her pussy as he rubbed his tip. His fingers and mouth kept doing their work as he came in his hand; he never lasted long while he was thinking about her. She whined and gasped as she came around him. A yell of his name caused him to moan with her.
As the two got dressed, Ethan watched her bending over to tie her shoes. He walked up behind her as she stood back up. He wrapped his arms around her stomach and kissed her neck.
“You’re beautiful,” he said, kissing her neck up to her jawline.
She smiled at him and turned around to kiss him softly. “So are you,”
They smiled at each other as they held each other in their arms. Ethan was finally happy. His plan worked. As long as he was careful around Chad, things would be okay. Maybe he didn’t have to kill Chad, maybe Chad would actually move on and find a sweet girl. Maybe everything would work out in the end. He got a text message, and he stepped away from her to look at his phone.
Fuck, he forgot about his sister.
He had been so preoccupied with her that he forgot his sister and father.
Quinn
Dad just finished, you have an alibi ?
9:30 pm
Ethan didn’t want to involve Y/N in his family’s fucked up plan. He wanted to take her away from everything and everyone, keep her safe. He knew tonight was the first step of his father’s plan, and he knew he couldn’t do anything to stop it. He looked over at her, who was fixing her hair in the mirror. He softly smiled at her and came up with a response. He couldn’t stop the chaos that was about to happen, but he knew he could keep her safe.
Ethan
You could say that.

Hot for Teacher(s) 2
Part 1 / AO3 Link
@babydollbaron I need you to know your tags basically changed the trajectory of this fic
In the mornings, Steve dropped Shawn off at the before care offered by the school and then went to work. Afterwards, Shawn took the school bus home and went over to a neighbor's house, Miss Robin, until his dad got home from work.
Because of this, Steve knew he would hardly have a reason to see Eddie outside school functions and conferences. Which was fine. It was totally fine. He absolutely was not spending nights thinking about those curls under his fingers. Whenever Shawn had a story from school to tell, he hung on every word. And it was only because these were the formative years of Shawn's life.
"Oh yeah, Mr. Munson asked about our practice and I got to tell him all about it", Shawn said.
Steve paused in his current task, which was the dishes while Shawn did his homework at the kitchen table. He knew exactly what his son was talking about.
"Oh? How'd that come up?"
"I told him about it before but I didn't get to tell him about it before Yasmin started crying. He asked me and I told him."
Steve currently taught middle school, but he'd had a little experience with the younger ones. When it got close to Shawn starting school, he did his best to make sure he was prepared. And to make things a little easier on whoever was teaching him. Steve tried to be subtle with his next words.
"Tell me more about Mr. Munson."
And then the floodgates opened. Mostly because it seemed Mr. Munson was very open about his personal life. Apparently, anytime the students had a question, he answered it. Just in this five minutes between drying the dishes and plating up dinner, Steve learned that Mr. Munson played guitar, loved the color red, played a game about dragons, and was single.
"Wait, how do you know he's not married?", Steve asked.
"Because Briana asked him and he said he's not married", Shawn answered easily.
---------------------
Steve tried not to think too hard about it. Mr. Munson being single didn't change anything. Not a single thing. But a really hot alpha who was unattached and also happened to be really good with kids who his kid loved was kind of the ultimate wet dream.
For Halloween, the students were allowed to come in costume and before the day was over, Steve's email was blessed with a collection of pictures of the class, including one where several superheroes, princesses, and even a kid dressed as Chucky defeated the mighty Munson dragon.
It was so cute that Steve had half a mind to send a reply that said so but second guessed it. He didn't need to tell Shawn's teacher it was a cute picture that was the whole reason he sent it. He had to keep all correspondence professional. But it was a picture of Shawn so he was well within his rights to save all of them to his phone.
"You ha~ve a cru~ush~", Robin sang on the phone. She was pulling some dino nuggets from the oven in preparation for Shawn coming over.
"Shut up, I don't!", Steve hissed on the other end. School had just ended but there would be a staff meeting in about five minutes. "I didn't tell you so you could make fun of me-"
"Come on, you knew it was coming-"
"I told you because I just had to tell someone." Steve sighed and took of his glasses to pinch the bridge of his nose. "It's not creepy if he's Shawn's former teacher, right?"
"Steve, I'm gonna be honest, I don't think it's creepy now." Robin picked up one of the nuggets and chomped on it. "It's kind of crazy how we have dino nuggets and animal crackers but not the other way around."
"Please save that for Shawn when he gets there. What do you mean? Wouldn't it be weird?"
"You're both two grown adults. I don't see the harm in asking him out", Robin said.
Steve slouched in his chair behind his desk. "That's not the only fact here. There's the fact that he's teaching my son. If any of the other parents find out, they'll think I'm sleeping my son's way to the top."
"....In first grade? That would be pathetic."
"Most suburban gossip is, but you already know this. It's not me I'm worried about really, it's Shawn. Kids talk too and what if they make fun of him?"
"Oh no! My awesome dad is dating my awesome teacher! Whatever will I do?!", Robin wailed.
"He thinks we're awesome separately. There's no telling what he'll think of us together. And I...I don't want to give him false hope."
"Steve...when was the last time you went on a date?"
Steve let out a puff of air. "Does that one guy who ogled me a few years ago count?"
"Gross! Steve! No! Do you mean the guy who was just staring at you breast feeding?"
"Serves me right for doing it in public. And in shorts."
"Hey, no, there will be no slut-shaming in this household." Robin paused when she heard the door open and the bounding of feet. "Your gremlin is here."
"I think you mean my precious miracle from above. And you will treat him as such. My only gremlins are my sixth graders."
"Whatever. Just get your shipwreck together and decide what you want to do."
Turns out, Steve didn't have to wait long for an opportunity. Shawn had come home that day with a flyer for a Thanksgiving performance and was asking for parent volunteers.
---------------------
Eddie wasn't like, actively hoping that he would see Shawn's dad again. But when the fliers went home asking for volunteers, as well as an email, there was something going up. But it wasn't hope. It definitely wasn't hope. It couldn't possibly be hope. That way nothing could be dashed when nothing came of it.
So when he came into the auditorium after school, he was simply pleasantly surprised to see Mr. Harrington there. Not elated. Not ecstatic. Just appropriately pleased.
He greeted all the parents of his students, of which he only saw two others before coming to Mr. Harrington.
"Nice to see you again", he said with a handshake.
"And you as well", Mr. Harrington replied.
Eddie was sure he was imagining the electricity passing through their touch.
"Well, welcome to elementary theatre. Where we're gonna nurture any and all blossoming passions in the arts."
"Can't wait to see it. Um, so what exactly will they be doing?", Steve asked.
"The first grade class as the honor of doing a little song on what they're thankful for. Mrs. Clifford usually accompanies them by piano, but this year I'm hoping to get some more instrumentation for it."
"Oh, Shawn told me you play guitar."
Eddie's first instinct was to twirl his hair to hide his smile but it was still up in a bun, so he tried to fix his face to not be too obvious but he was sure it came out as a weird grimace.
"Yeah, yeah I do. Been playing for years. What about you, any instrumental skills?"
"None", Mr. Harrington shook his head. "My parents tried piano lessons, but I never took them for long. Just long enough to learn 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'."
"Everybody's got their talents. And no better place to showcase them", Eddie thrust his arms out around them.
"Well for now, I'm volunteering my time being a watchful eye and working on backgrounds and costumes. Plus snacks."
"Wait, did you bring the chips and sliders?", Eddie jutted a thumb toward the table near the stage.
Mr. Harrington shrugged. "It's just turkey and ham. And I know how ravenous kids can get."
"Are you guys talking about me?", Shawn asked, coming up to them.
Eddie watched the odd look on Mr. Harrington's face and was sure his must've looked similar. This was probably the longest he'd been talking to a parent without talking about their kid.
"I was just about to bow to your dad's culinary prowess", Eddie said. "Apparently, he made the snacks for this evening."
"I asked him to make his stuffing because, you know, Thanksgiving, but he said it was too early", Shawn said.
"I'm sure his stuffing is delicious", Eddie smiled down at him.
"You should come to our house and try it", Shawn beamed, leaning his head against his dad's hip.
Eddie looked back up at Mr. Harrington. "I'd love it if I could do that."
----------------------------
What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck
Steve was thankfully saved from replying to that by rehearsal starting and so Mr. Munson's attention was drawn away but seriously. What the fuck was that? Was that man inviting himself over to his house? Was it simple small talk? What was it all supposed to mean?
He was put on costume duty while the children practiced which kept his hands busy but not his brain, so he spent the next hour over thinking about that one line, which led to him overanalyzing the entire conversation. When practice ended, the teachers stood by the front entrance to wait for any parents that weren't already there or hadn't shown up toward the end to get their kids.
Mr. Munson waved off the last of his students just as Shawn finished in the bathroom and Steve helped him get his coat on. He looked hesitant before speaking up.
"Looks like you're my last one. I can walk you to your car if you want. It's pretty dark out."
Pretty dark was an understatement. It was near pitch black and the parking lot had bare minimum lighting. Steve definitely would've felt better about it if he had someone on the other side of Shawn.
"Yeah, that'd be great, thanks."
And without being told so, Mr. Munson put Shawn between them as they left the school and walked out into the parking lot. He gave a whistle once they got to Steve's BMW.
"Nice car."
"Thanks. She's been pretty faithful to me all these years." Steve unlocked the car and let Shawn into the backseat first. When he closed the door, he smiled at the alpha before him. "Thanks for walking us out.
"Consider it a routine then. At least until this place can afford to fully light up the lot."
"Thank you. I really appreciate it." There must have been the tiniest bit of a lull in the conversation because suddenly Shawn piped up from inside the car.
"Dad, can we get tacos for dinner?"
Steve snapped out of whatever staring contest he was having with Mr. Munson and looked down affectionately at his son. "What? My casserole not good enough all of a sudden?" He opened the driver side door and got in, turning the ignition on.
With them safely in the car, Eddie went over to his van and got in, waiting until he saw Mr. Harrington pull out before going his own way.
Later that night, after putting Shawn to bed, Steve was left alone with his thoughts again as he graded papers using an answer key at the kitchen table. It was easy to let his mind drift into just how...how wonderful Mr. Munson seemed.
He bit his lip and squeezed his legs together. Mr. Munson was handsome, and charismatic, and so safe, so much the perfect alpha that he'd been led to believe didn't exist. He could protect him and his pup... and Steve could give him more pups...
Steve's hand drifted down between his legs and he let it stroke a few times before freezing and closing his grade book. Time for something more mentally stimulating.
"Guess I'm lesson planning tonight."

Bucky Barnes didn’t think very much of himself. Which is a real shame, considering he’s one of the most amazing men you’ve ever met. You wouldn’t have moved in together if he was a bad guy like he thought he was. The two of you had moved into a two-story townhouse in Brooklyn three months ago. Bucky really wanted to get close to his roots, especially after everything that happened. Steve had moved into an apartment about a block from you guys but split most of his time between the Avenger’s initiative and being home.
“Jamie, could you help me move the couch to the stoop please?’
‘Why are we taking our indoor furniture outdoors?”
“So that we have something comfy to sit on while we hand out candy.”
“We’re handing out candy? I thought we were just going to put it in a bowl and leave it outside the door.” Bucky was confused, and more than a little apprehensive.
“Jamie. Love of my life, this is what people who have houses do. They sit out on their porches and hand out candy to children in mediocre costumes for two hours while trying not to freeze. It’s a rite of passage.”
“That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“You’re telling me that you didn’t do trick or treat in the olden days?”
“First of all, don’t call them the olden days. Second of all, trick or treating wasn’t really a thing until I was too old to participate, and even then, people had more things to worry about than handing out candy.”
“Why don’t you want to hand out candy, Jamie?”
“Because… it will be cold.”
“You’re literally a human furnace try again.” You lifted one eyebrow at him, trying your best to capture the essence of Roger’s ‘eyebrows of disappointment’ that he had practically trademarked.
“Doll, I just don’t think it's a good idea.”
“Why not Jamie? I won’t make you hand out candy if you don’t want to but I have a feeling that whatever reason you have in your silly little noggin for not wanting to isn’t really a good one.”
“What if they hate me?” He mumbled.
“What if who hates you, baby?”
“The kids. What if the kids are scared of me.”
“James Buchanan Barnes. You are a hero, you fought to bring back literally half of the population of the entire universe, anyone who is scared of you is an idiot.”
“That’s sweet doll, but I don’t want to ruin anyone’s night.”
“The only person’s night who is a risk of being ruined is mine. I don’t know how I’ll survive without my human furnace to keep me warm out there.” You batted your eyelashes at him. “Please, Jamie? Just try, if you hate it you can go back inside but I think you’ll have a lot of fun.”
“Okay.”
“Yeah?” You didn’t try to fight the smile that spread from ear to ear.
‘Yeah, doll. I’ll hand out candy with you.”
Bucky wasn’t sure about any of this. But you had asked so prettily and his therapist (someone you had found for him, not one of the shitty government-appointed ones) had told him that he needed to start pushing his boundaries. He figured that spending the night next to you and watching you be happy was as good of a way to start pushing boundaries as any. He had pulled the couch out into the space that was right in front of your door. He had helped you climb over the back of it with a huge bowl of candy after you realized that the couch had practically trapped you inside. Now the two of you were waiting. The night didn’t officially start until 8:00 so you had about fifteen minutes to go.
“Jamie?”
“Hmm?’
“I forgot my phone.”
“Okay?’
“Jamie?”
“Yes?”
“Could you go get my phone?” He let out a deep sigh and one of those old man grunts as he pushed himself up off the couch and climbed over it. He walked further into the house and you took your chance. “Hey Jamie?”
“Yes, Doll?”
“Since you’re inside… could you make me some hot chocolate?”
“Doll, if you wanted hot chocolate you could’ve just asked in the first place you didn’t need to send me on a quest for your phone.”
“I did actually leave my phone on the counter so it’s not like I lied.”
As Bucky was making your hot chocolate, the beginning few kids started emerging from their houses, parents behind them bundled up to counteract the chilly October night.
You saw a few clowns, some kids show characters that you didn’t really know the name of, and some funny pun costumes that you laughed at. But what really caught your eye was the trio of boys four houses down from yours, making their way down the street.
They couldn’t have been older than eight but their costumes were impeccable. They really were mini versions of your three favorite guys. A mini Captain America complete with a homemade cardboard shield, a mini falcon with swim goggles and a plastic redwing, and last but certainly not least a mini winter soldier whose arm was wrapped in tinfoil.
You had to resist the urge to actually scream, but you did let out a few overjoyed giggles.
“Jamie! James come quick!” You yelled into the house.
“You’re hot chocolate is almost done.” He yelled back.
“Who cares about the hot chocolate this is way more important!”
He started making his way towards the open door, “What is more important than hot choco-” He completely stopped. Frozen in his place looking at the three little boys making their way up your steps. “Holy Shit”
‘Language.” You replied.
Bucky practically launched himself over the back of the couch to meet the boys,
“Mom! Mom look! It’s Sergeant Barnes.” The boy with the tinfoil arm turned with a bright smile on his face. His mom was nearly as frozen as Bucky, most likely not expecting to run into a retired superhero on Halloween night.
With a smack from you, Bucky released himself from his stupor. “Hey little man, what’s your name?”
“George, but everyone calls me Georgie.” He said with the confidence of a kid who had rehearsed.
“Well Georgie, that’s a very nice costume you’ve got there.”
“Thank you, Mr. Barnes, Sir.”
“Call me Bucky, please.”
“Okay, Mr. Bucky, sir.” Both you and Bucky chuckled at that.
“I think a costume as good as that deserves some candy what do you think?” Bucky looked at you.
“Definitely, I think all three of these young heroes deserve their candy.”
You placed a handful into the Captain’s bucket, and the Falcon’s but let Bucky grab the candy for his mini-me. He grabbed two large handfuls and winked at the kid as he placed them inside his orange pumpkin bucket.
“Would you be okay with taking a picture?” Georgie’s mom asked.
“Absolutely!’ Bucky replied and pulled all three young boys in front of him. Kneeling behind them and giving a genuine smile.
Once pictures were done the parents got the boys to say goodbye and move on.
“There are more houses to go to Georgie, besides, I’m sure Mr. Barnes would like to be able to give candy to some other kids.”
“Okay Mom,” Georgie turned back to Bucky, “Thank you, Mr. Bucky, sir. You’re my hero.” He turned back away and skipped down your stairs and onto the next one like he hadn’t just broken your boyfriend.
The rest of the night went pretty similarly, with the occasional Avenger costume and star-struck kid. Bucky posing for pictures and actually enjoying it and you handing out way more candy per child than their parents were okay with.
Bucky’s smile never faded and he seemed to get more and more into it as the night went on.
“Hey Doll?” He asked when the two of you had finally returned your couch back to its rightful place.
“Yeah, Jamie.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” You kissed him on the cheek. “You never did bring me my hot chocolate though.”

It's Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus!
Summary: It's Halloweekend, and you've got a couple of parties to attend! Morpheus, who missed out on the development of Halloween into the holiday it is today, is very curious about what your plans are.
Word count: 1.8k
And now, a note from the author: Ahhh Claire actually managed to write something! I loved coming up with and writing this; I was giggling the entire time. As always, if you enjoyed, likes, comments, and reblogs (but especially the last two!) make my world go round. If you didn't like it, also let me know! I'm always down to hear constructive feedback/criticism—it's how we become better writers.
Though reader is wearing a skirt, the gender of reader is not specified! If you're non-binary or a guy and you wouldn't mind dressing up in a skirt for a group costume, I hope you enjoy this fic too!
Tumblr media
It’s not often that Dream of the Endless visits you in your realm, instead of vice versa. While he had met you in the Waking, he had never been entirely comfortable there. That feeling, that wrongness, only increased tenfold after his imprisonment at the hands of Roderick Burgess. No, Morpheus is not overly fond of the Waking.
Tonight, however, he’s here, and you have a pretty good inkling as to why.
Though Morpheus would never admit it, hearing you talk helps to calm him down when he’s feeling stressed (another thing he would never admit to: stress). After a frustrating day of holding court—one of his least favorite things to do, but one that was integral to the functioning of his realm—you decided that telling him about your plans for the week would be a bland enough topic where he would not have to actually listen to your words, but simply your voice. Your plan seemed to be working; you could feel his body relaxing in your arms, and you had never been more relieved to hear the absentminded hums of someone who was only half-listening to a conversation.
At some point, you mentioned that you were excited about the Halloween parties that you would be attending. That got his attention, drawing him out of the reverie that your voice and your fingers carding through his hair had lulled him into. He shifted in your hold, his black pools of stars looking up at you curiously.
“All Hallows’ Eve is not for another week though, yes?” he asked.
“Yeah, but it’s during the week this year, which means everybody celebrates the weekend before.”
“Why not celebrate on the day itself? Traditionally, Samhain is a very important holiday.”
Now the miscommunication made sense in your mind. It was only natural that he still thought of the holiday as what it was before 1916. “Oh! Halloween has evolved a lot, especially in the past hundred years. It doesn’t really resemble the Samhain of old.”
He still looks a little confused but nods. “How interesting. So you will also be participating in these…festivities early?”
“Festivities” was a good way to put it, and you decided to just leave it at that. How the hell else were you supposed to explain to your eons-old, all-powerful boyfriend that the Halloween of today is about wearing a fun/sexy costume, doing spooky activities like haunted houses or watching scary movies, and partying?
“Yep!” you said. “I have plans with friends; we’re going to wear our costumes and go celebrate with others.”
“What will your costume be?”
“I’m not quite sure yet. I have a couple of different ones, so I’ll probably decide the day of.”
That interest in modern Halloween, specifically how you celebrate Halloween, is why you’re not really all that surprised when you hear him call your name from the other side of the bathroom door while you’re taking a shower.
“In here, my love!” You just barely have to raise your voice, knowing that he’ll still hear you above the sound of water raining down. The bathroom door opens, and you stick your head out of the shower curtain. You very happily accept the kiss that he offers you. “Hi.”
“Hello.” His voice, deep and as smooth as dark chocolate, rumbles through your ears in a way that you’ll never tire of. It’s impossible to resist giving him one more kiss (can you be blamed?), so you give in to the temptation.
“Give me five minutes and then I’ll be done, okay?”
Though it’s very reluctant, he does part from you. It takes you a little less than that to finish with your shower, and you open the door again so that you can at least be in the same space as Morpheus while you hurriedly put some makeup on (thankfully your costume doesn’t require anything drastic beyond what you normally wear). He’s sitting patiently on your bed, eyes already trained on you as you move through your getting-ready routine.
“What are you doing here?” you ask, glancing at him out of the corner of your eye. “You almost never visit me in the Waking.”
You’re teasing him, since, as previously mentioned, you know exactly why he’s here. Naturally, Morpheus doesn’t catch on. “I wished to see you off before your Hallowe’en celebration.”
“That’s sweet of you!” To the bedroom you go, where your costume sits waiting atop your dresser. “I’m just about ready to go, I only need to finish putting my costume on.”
Morpheus’s face grows flushed at the easy compliment you give him (you don’t think he’s ever been called ‘sweet’) and you laugh quietly before disappearing back through the bathroom with costume in tow.
A couple of months ago, two of your friends decided that being the Powerpuff Girls was the move for this Halloween and roped you into the idea. One of your friends, a natural blonde, claimed Bubbles before the idea could even fully be discussed. Your other friend was very excited to be a bearded Blossom and wear a giant bow on his head. This left Buttercup for you to dress up as, not that you were complaining.
Now, you’re sliding into a green crop top and a matching green skirt, this piece being made out of a shiny material. All three of your skirts are the same fabric (and definitely shorter than what’s considered decent), with the shirts being dealer’s choice. You finish your outfit off with black tights and a black headband—Bubbles is also wearing black tights, while Blossom will be sporting black knee-highs. All in all, it’s a pretty simple costume, but sometimes, that’s what the best costumes are.
You emerge from the bathroom once more and do a little twirl for Morpheus, whose eyes immediately light up. “This is very much a pop culture reference, so I’m not expecting you to understand the costume. Still, I think it turned out pretty good!”
Morpheus is not a man—the anthropomorphic personification of the collective unconscious, the Lord of Dreams and Ruler of the Nightmare Realm, simply chooses this as his favored form. Still, he is a man-shaped being, and like all man-shaped beings, he goes a little wild for the object of his affection in a short skirt.
“You will be wearing this in public?” he asks, standing up and approaching you.
Morpheus has lived for as long as beings have been able to dream. He quite literally lived through the Beginning when Adam and Eve didn’t know what clothes were, as well as a number of empires for whom clothing was merely a suggestion. The affront he’s showing at the clothes you’re wearing must be some sort of code for “this is my partner wearing something I consider sexy and I’m feeling possessive about other people seeing them.” That he looks at you as though you’re wearing the barest scraps of clothing and not dressing up as a cartoon superhero has you feeling mighty powerful.
You’d be lying if you said that didn’t turn you on a little bit.
“This is tame compared to what a lot of other people wear,” you inform him.
Morpheus does not look as though he’s listening. No, he’s focused on your body rather than your words. One hand rests on your waist to pull you closer to him, and the other hand comes to rest on your upper thigh where the skirt ends. He rubs the skirt between his thumb and index finger as though he’s testing the fabric.
“Am I correct in assuming that costumes are no longer worn to disguise the wearer from errant spirits?”
“Yes, you’re correct.” Right now though, explaining the traditions of Halloween is not important to you. You need some validation, and stat. “But do you like it?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Thank you,” you say smugly, smacking his hand as he tries to slip it higher under your skirt. “Not tonight. I have to meet up with the gang soon!”
“Might I make a suggestion?”
You nod. No matter how outlandish the suggestion, you’d listen to him make it, and you’d probably take it into strong consideration.
Morpheus places a delicate kiss on your jaw before he trails his lips to your ear. “Forget about your friends and stay with me for the evening,” he whispers seductively.
Oh, but that is tempting. You can already imagine the way in which Morpheus would remove your costume, the feeling of his hands on your body as he makes you forget about anything outside of you and him and the pleasure you bring each other. From the darkened look he gives you, he’s already picked up on these daydreams, and he’s in total agreement of that order of events.
Unfortunately, your brain, that traitorous organ, reminds you of why you shouldn’t be absconding to the Dreaming with your lover.
You sigh in frustration at the logic and lean your forehead against his. “I would, but I’ve had these plans for a couple of weeks now, and I really am looking forward to them.”
Though it very obviously pains Morpheus to say it, he does agree. “Yes, I suppose it would be…rude to abandon them.”
“I should probably go,” you say begrudgingly, pulling away from him and focusing intently on gathering what you’ll need so that you don’t give in to your desire.
Morpheus watches as you whirl around the room, muttering the name of each item as you grab them. Your phone is annoyingly elusive, and you think you’ll just have to go without it until it’s dangled in front of you by your Dreamlord. Gratefully, you take it from him.
“Thank you,” you say sheepishly. That’s the last of your belongings, but you feel like you can stall just a bit longer. He’s heard about your plans, but you haven’t heard of his. “What will you do while I’m gone?”
“Wait for you to return to my embrace once more,” he teases.
“Please try to do something instead of moping the whole time.”
“I do not mope!”
You give him a look, one that says you see right through this charade. “Yes. You do. I’m sure there’s a new book you’ll want to read. Maybe ask Lucienne what she’s been working on, or start creating a new nightmare?”
“Are you not going to be late?” Morpheus deflects. It makes you laugh, but he is right, so you do a once-over of your room to make sure you’re not missing anything and kiss him briefly.
“Bye. I love you.”
“I love you as well, my starlight. You remember how to call for me should you run into trouble?” Of course you do: write down his name and speak it. It’s cute of him to act like he won’t try to have Matthew follow you, though.
You can’t help but smile at the sweet gesture. “Yes, I remember. I’ll be fine, okay?”
He nods, satisfied. “I shall see you later, then.”
You’re able to sneak in one more kiss before he’s off and you’re heading to your front door, already counting down the hours until your night of partying is over. Who knew dressing up like a Powerpuff Girl could get someone so hot and heavy?
If Morpheus thinks that’s attractive, just wait until he sees the angel costume you’re wearing tomorrow.

Hi I was jw if you could do a Loki x reader where they have a huge fight and then reader leaves for a mission to only come back injured. Loki is given a note from her apologizing to him and when she wakes up he takes care of her apologizing as well? Super duper fluffy ending?
Tumblr media
Hey anon!! I have two asks that have very similar ideas so I'm doing them together. I'm sorry if it took me so long to get to it that you sent it again but I really do love this idea. I changed a little bit of it and kinda combined both asks. Hopefully it was worth the wait 💚
Tumblr media
That's Not What I Meant
Pairing: Loki x female reader
Warnings: arguing, angst, injury, lots of fluff
Summary: You and Loki have an argument but before the two of you can resolve it, you are called away on a mission for a few days. You return from the mission injured and still hurt by what Loki said before you left but he is determined to show you how much you truly mean to him.
A/N: I threw in Halloween stuff cause it's October so why not right 🎃 lol... also, as usual this got away from me and is way longer then I intended 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
"Its October first!" you say as you flip the calendar on your kitchen wall excitedly. "Do you know what that means?" you turn towards Loki.
He looks up from the coffee maker, "I would say its Saturday but I imagine that's not the answer you are looking for."
"Its Halloween!" you answer with a wide smile. He rolls his eyes but you catch a glimpse of him smiling before he turns back to face the counter. You move to stand behind him and put your arms around his waist, resting your cheek against his back.
He shakes his head and chuckles softly while he pours the fresh coffee into two mugs. "I was under the impression that Halloween was on the last day of the month, not the first," he says.
You groan, letting go of him so you can lean your back against the counter next to him. You look up at him, crossing your arms and say, "Technically yes but... we can do Halloween stuff all month."
He takes a sip of his coffee, "A whole month seems a bit unnecessary. Surely one day is enough."
"It absolutely is necessary!" you tell him, a bit louder than you expected to.
He raises an eyebrow then waves his hand for you to continue. "Very well. What did you have in mind, darling?" he asks.
"Everything... Some of the parks here do hayrides, corn mazes and apple picking. I've always wanted to go apple picking, maybe Wanda could teach me how she makes those mini apple crumbles," you say and Loki smiles, you know how much he loves any type of dessert he can get his hands on. "There are tons of haunted houses we can visit of course," you add.
"Of course," he nods dramatically in agreement which causes you to laugh.
"Oh and I feel like you would like pumpkin carving," you say and he tilts his head curiously. "Because you know..." you make a stabbing motion, "Knives and such."
"That seems acceptable," he laughs then leans forward to kiss you briefly. "Anything else, love?"
"Can't forget watching horror movies with lots of junk food and cuddles or scaring everyone on the team," you tell him.
"How could I say no to either of those?" he smiles as he puts his coffee mug on the counter and moves closer to you. He slips one arm around you and you lean against his chest, looking up at him. "It'll be hard to pick a favorite activity but I don't think you can beat scaring the others," he says with a mischievous grin.
You hit his chest lightly, "Want to try picking a favorite again?"
He kisses the top of your head, "Pumpkin carving?"
"You're the worst," you giggle as you pull free. "The correct answer is horror movies and cuddles, obviously. Just for that, I'm picking out our costumes for Stark's party."
His mood shifts suddenly as the playful smile leaves his lips. He picks up his coffee mug and takes another sip. "There's no need for you to do that," he says in a serious tone, "I won't be attending the party." With that, he turns and walks out of the kitchen.
"You don't want to go?" you ask as you follow him into the living room.
He sits on one end of the couch and sets his mug on the coffee table. "Y/N, you know I don't go to Stark's parties. I never have and I see no reason to start now," he says without looking at you.
"I thought we could go together," you say with a hopeful smile.
He picks up his book from the side table and open its, "Why would you think that?"
"Because it would be fun?" you ask, feeling more unsure of yourself with every passing moment.
He looks up at you briefly and then back to his book. "I doubt very much it would be," he says.
You stand across from him in silence, hurt by the thought that Loki didn't even want to consider going with you. Loki has never been one to socialize with the team voluntarily but you had been excited about the idea of finally having a date to one of Stark's parties.
"I know we've only been dating a few months but... I guess I just assumed you would want to go with me," you say quietly.
"Don't Midgardians have a saying about assuming things?" he asks as he turns the page of his book.
"Well, yea..." you put your mug on the coffee table. "Can you not read while we're talking?"
"You know I'm perfectly capable of holding a conversation and reading at the same time," he says without looking up, you wrap your arms around yourself and don't respond. He finally looks up and slides his bookmark between the pages before setting it on the table. "Better?" he asks in a sarcastic tone.
"Oh, is it rude of me to want you to pay attention to me when I'm talking?" you ask, unable to hide your growing annoyance.
"There is nothing to talk about. I have told you I'm not going," he says. "You're more then welcome to go to that ridiculous event alone." He sits back and opens his book again.
"Its not ridiculous," you argue back but he doesn't acknowledge you as he turns the page.
"And I don't... I don't want to go alone. I want to go with my boyfriend. What's wrong with that?" you ask.
"Are you really going to just ignore me now?" you ask when he continues to read silently.
"I'm not ignoring you, I'm just done with this conversation," he says as he flips the page.
"That's not how conversations work-" you say, rolling your eye sarcastically.
"I don't want to be with you Y/N," Loki says in a harsh tone as he slams the book closed.
You instantly take a step back as his words hit you. He stands up quickly, dropping his book as moves towards you. "Go, I meant I don't want to go with you," he tries to correct himself but your mind has already latched onto those words.
"You... don't..." you whisper as you stand in front of him in disbelief, shaking your head slowly.
"No, no. That's not what I meant," he repeats. "Y/N, I didn't mean that."
He reaches for your arm and you pull away from him. "But you said it," you say, you feel as if you're heart is physically breaking. "Why would you say that?" you ask, close to tears.
"Y/N, I-" Loki starts to explain but is cut off by the sound of your phone ringing from the other room.
You turn from him and walk back to the kitchen to answer it. Loki follows you and tries to take your hand but you turn from him. You purposefully stare at your feet while on the phone to avoid looking at Loki who is growing increasingly upset and nervous.
When you hang up from your call with Agent Hill you ask, "Can you please leave? I have to be ready to take off for a mission in twenty minutes and I-"
"Y/N, I'm not leaving until we talk," he shakes his head. He attempts to close the distance between the two of you again and this time you don't move away. You keep your eyes fixed on the ground as tears begin to surface. He touches your cheek lightly but you still don't look up.
"That's not what I meant," he says again and you nod slowly, your heart believes him but your mind won't let go of this words so easily. "Please look at me," he pleads but you can’t.
"I have to get ready," you tell him again in a hushed voice.
"Can we talk when you get back?" he asks and you mumble ok in response. He kisses the top of your head lightly and says, "Be safe, Y/N."
Tumblr media
(Three days later)
You limp slowly down the long corridor and find yourself standing in front of Loki's door. You can tell he's awake, most likely reading, when you see the light creeping out from under the door even though it's just past one in the morning.
You stand there frozen for a moment. All you want to do is feel his arms wrap around you but every time you picture him, you hear his voice echo. He said he didn't want to be with you and although he quickly took it back you just couldn't shake it. His words had burned themselves into your thoughts and refused to leave.
You try to take a deep breath and feel a searing pain spread through your left side. You look down at the brace on your left knee and rub your left arm, just above where the cast was set. Shaking your head, you turn to drag yourself the rest of the way down the hall to your room to sleep.
You get a few feet away when you hear Loki's door open and you stop but don't turn. "Y/N, welcome back," he says quietly.
You can feel your heartbeat picking up at the sound of his voice and you can't help but smile a bit. "I've missed you, love," he says, you can hear he's stepped out into the hall.
"I missed you too," you tell him as you turn to face him. You watch as his eyes move up and down your body, filling with concern.
"Y/N, are you alright? What happened?" he asks, standing close to you. You shrug and tell him that the mission was ultimately successful but you were thrown during an explosion at the Hydra base. You had broken your arm and sprained your knee, in addition to being covered in bruises. You tell him you're exhausted and just want to lay down.
He reaches out and takes your hand, "I know you're tired darling, but come with me." You look up at him quietly, he gently strokes your cheek. "Let me take care of you," he says in a soothing voice.
You smile sleepily and nod, absolutely nothing could sound better then letting Loki look after you right now. No matter what he said before you left, you were still completely in love with him, although you had never been brave enough to say it. You squeeze his hand lightly and he leads you back to his room.
Once inside, he closes the door quietly and picks you up careful not to hurt your side or leg. You let out a small laugh in surprise as he carries you bridal style into the living room. "I can walk," you tell him but you make no attempt to be put down.
"Not without being in pain it seems," he answers in a caring tone.
You wrap your good arm around his neck a bit tighter and kiss his cheek lightly without thinking. He smiles when he looks down at you but you can see it doesn't quite reach his eyes. His eyes are red and glassy, his normally silky smooth hair appears slightly tangled and you've never seen his clothing wrinkled before.
You look around as he carries you through his apartment. His space is usually meticulously neat but there are books messily piled on the end table and floor. You notice a pillow and blanket from his bed have been moved to the couch and there are several empty mugs on the coffee table. He walks through the living room and into his bedroom where the bed you've shared is made perfectly, expect for the missing pillow. You realize its the pillow from your side of the bed that's been moved to the couch.
As if he is reading your thoughts he says, "I haven't been able to sleep without you."
You close your eyes, hold him tighter and whisper, "I'm sorry, Loki." You knew how hard the last few days had been for you but you are quickly seeing how badly it had affected Loki as well.
He kisses your forehead as he gently opens the bathroom door with his foot. He sets you down on the countertop next to the sink.
"I understand you're tired but... I just need you to know I'm sorry," he says. "I didn't mean what I said before you left, you know that right? I was frustrated about the party and it just came out wrong. I-" he tells you and you pull him closer to you. You put your good arm around his waist and move your legs to be on either side of him as they dangle over the edge.
You had spent the last three days replaying what Loki said and you can tell he had been too. "I know Loki," you interrupt him. "I know you didn't mean it," you tell him and he breaths a sigh of relief. He strokes your cheek lightly then leans down to kiss you.
When he breaks the kiss, you hide your face against his chest. "Y/N...?" he asks, running his hand up and down your back lightly.
"I'm sorry I pushed you about going to the party. I know you don't enjoy going to them and it wasn't fair that I got upset instead of listening to you," you tell him.
He puts his fingers under your chin and tilts your head so you are looking up at him again. "I will go to the party, I just want to make you happy Y/N," he offers but you shake your head no and he looks confused.
"I don't want to go anymore," you tell him.
"You should go. I know how much fun you thought his last party was," he says.
You smile at him and run your fingers through his hair gently, "I would rather spend time with you, doing something we both like."
He cups your cheek and brings your lips to his. You kiss him back as his hand slides down your back, holding you close to his chest. You giggle when you pull away to breath, "I meant something like going to a museum... but that works too."
He laughs at your response than says, "Well we still have all the things on your Halloween list to get through."
You nod happily as you yawn then groan in pain when your stretching aggravates your sore muscles. His smile fades and he looks concerned again.
"Let's get you more comfortable, darling," he says and you agree.
You rest against Loki with your eyes closed as you listen to the tub full with water. After a few minutes, Loki carefully helps you out of your dirty, bloodied uniform and places you into the warm water. You let out a sigh as your muscles begin to relax from the oils Loki had added. Resting your broken arm on the edge of the tub, you let yourself sink completely under the bubbles.
Loki's kneels behind you and begins to gently unbraid your hair. He runs his long fingers through your hair and then down your neck to your shoulders, massaging all the tension from your muscles. When he finishes, he kisses you softly. "Just rest now, I'll be back in a moment," he says as he gets up.
You nod with a smile, struggling to keep your eyes open. Just as you are about to drift off completely, Loki returns to being you to bed. After drying off, Loki conjures you a soft pair of green shorts and a black tank top to sleep in.
You giggle, half asleep when he picks you up again and carries you into the bedroom. He lays you on the bed and then gets in next to you. At soon as he pulls the covers over the two of you, you curl up against his side.
Loki wraps his arms tightly around you and whispers, "I love you, Y/N."
For a moment, you aren't sure if you dreamed hearing this words or if he actually said he loved you for the first time. You look up at him and when you see his smile, you know you weren't dreaming.
"I love you too, Loki," you confess happily, right before you slip into a sound sleep.

can't fight this feeling | steve harrington x f!reader
summary: Steve Harrington is your best friend, and when he breaks up with Nancy, you're there to help him pick up the pieces. After a while, his heart is a little less broken and a lot more full.
word count: 3.1k
warnings: fluff, teen romance, s2 steve <3, mentions of injury/blood, curse words?, kissing, best friends who are totally not in love wym
suggested listening: cardigan by taylor swift, hey stephen by taylor swift, can't fight this feeling by REO speedwagon
Tumblr media
He was wearing a blazer that you assume was his dad’s at one point. That, paired with those oversized glasses really made him look like a complete dork. Dorkiness aside, you could read the hurt on his face as he rushed out of the party the same way you could read your favorite book, though you suppose Steve was something like your favorite book anyways. Your high heels, which you thought perfectly completed your Sixteen Candles costume, pattered quietly against the cobblestone walkway as you exited the party to follow Steve.
“You sure left in a hurry, where’s the fire?”
You regretted the little quip when you really looked at the hurt that filled his eyes.
“Nancy’s the fire. You know, this whole time.. I really thought she loved me.”
His voice gave way to his emotion, cracking toward the end of his speech.
You were confused. Steve and Nancy were in love, from what he told you. You don’t know how anyone couldn’t love Steve when they truly knew him, like you did. Like Nancy does.
“Wanna tell me what happened?”
You reached a comforting hand out to pat his shoulder, which you could tell he appreciated.
“She told me our whole relationship is bullshit. You know, I really love her. And she said- she said, ‘acting like we’re in love’. She doesn’t love me, (y/n). I’ve loved her this whole time and she doesn’t love me.”
You brought him into your arms then, figuring the only thing you could do was offer comfort. Your heart broke for him then, because you knew just how much Steve loved her, how much he loves her.
“I’m sorry, Steve. I know you love her, so I know how much this probably hurts.”
He nodded, you felt his head move from where it rested on top of your shoulder.
“How about we get you home?”
“Will you stay? My parents aren’t at home and I just, really don’t want to be alone.”
You would give him the moon if he asked. Staying at his house was no problem.
“Of course.”
Tumblr media
He’s gotten better since that night, but you could still see the flashes of hurt in his eyes when he sees her with Jonathan. She was his first love, it's not something you get over fast.
You were watching The Shining on Steve’s couch, half paying attention, when he spoke up.
“You know, I don’t really miss her as much anymore.”
You looked over at him.
“Does that mean you’ll finally stop moping around?”
“I do not mope.”
“Yea, you do. I can’t deal with sobby Steve much longer, I think I’ll lose my mind if I don’t get my best friend back soon.”
“Real fucking funny. Next movie night I’m forcing you to watch Saturday Night Fever.”
You gave him a shove, before turning serious.
“You wouldn’t dare.”
Mirth danced in his eyes before his next words.
“Would you rather watch Grease?”
“Steve. You know my Travoltaphobia is very serious. This isn’t a joking matter.”
He burst into a fit of laughter at you, and you soon joined him.
The laughter subsided, and you got serious maybe a bit too suddenly.
“You know, Steve, I’m really happy you’re happy again.”
You rested your head on his shoulder, and Steve pretended not to notice the way his heartbeat picked up a bit.
“Me too.”
He figured you were the reason why, but at the same time he wondered, was it possible for him to be falling in love with you? So soon after Nancy?
If you caught him off guard enough, he would be able to tell you that it was you he loved the whole time. Nancy was just a scene in the movie that was really just filled with you. Your laugh would be the soundtrack, harmonious and light and full of joy. But he would only say it if you caught him off guard enough.
Tumblr media
You saw the light come back to him now. It's been about a month since Nancy, and he was somehow Steve again.
Because he was Steve again, he had found his way into a fight.
You were pouring rubbing alcohol onto a washrag. You had made sure to picked a dark one, because although Steve’s parents were shitty, they weren’t stupid.
He was sitting all too relaxed on the toilet seat for your liking.
“Do I want to see the other guy? Or did you get your ass kicked?” You asked, hand on your hip.
“Hargrove’s an asshole, you know.”
He was right. Billy Hargrove was the biggest douchebag you had ever met. You turned him down last week when he tried to ask you on a date, knowing that it would only come at your expense in every possible outcome. His response was to tell you that you were “an ugly bitch anyways”.
So yeah, Hargrove? Total asshole.
“Yeah, Steve, I know.”
You shook your head, biting back a laugh.
“I did get my ass kicked though.” He said, looking up at you with heavy eyes, probably due to the bruising on one of them.
You laughed then, before lightly dabbing his brow bone with the navy blue washcloth, making him wince away from you.
“What are you putting on me? Liquid flames?”
You cupped his cheek gently, bringing his head back to you.
“You are such a drama queen, I swear.”
He lightly hit you with the hand that wasn’t gripping the counter, making you giggle lightly, and all he wanted then was to hear your laugh more and more.
“It hurts, okay? Maybe I should find another nurse, one that won’t make my wounds even worse.”
“You’re making me laugh too much and its affecting my work.”
He beamed up at you, award winning Steve-smile, that made your heart stutter and your steady hands almost shake.
“It's not my fault I’m utterly hilarious.”
You scoffed, but went back to work, tossing the rag aside to put butterfly bandages over the cuts on his face.
Being this close to him made you feel a little giddy, which was weird because he was your best friend, and you were always this close to him. Of course you loved Steve, but you didn’t ever think you were in love with Steve.
You figured it would make sense if you were.
The way you felt less lonely around him, and only him. The way you were pretty sure you would do anything for him. The way you kind of really wanted to kiss him right now.
“What’s going on up there, fly away to Neverland, princess?”
He waved a hand in front of your face with a goofy smile on his face.
“That was really dorky of you.”
You pat his cheek before stepping away, admiring your handiwork.
“Was just wondering, what did Billy do to make you want to let him absolutely kick your ass?”
He looked down, avoiding your eyes, seemingly guilty.
You tilted your head to the side, motioning a hand, hoping he’d tell you.
“He said some, uh. Some asshole shit about you.”
Your brow furrowed, and Steve stood up from where he sat on the toilet seat.
“Said he was gonna find his way into your pants, and that you were easy anyways, he just had to try one more time. When he said that, I just couldn’t hold back. No one talks about my girl like that.”
His girl?
Steve realized his mistake a second too late, because the moment he realized he had called you his girl, it had already found its way out of his mouth.
Luckily, you didn’t seem to notice.
You definitely noticed, but you didn’t think he meant anything by it, so you chose to not acknowledge it.
“You know, I can fight my own battles.” You said, before throwing your arms around him, drawing him into you for a hug.
“But thank you, for sticking up for me when I wasn’t there to do it myself.”
“Course, I’ll always take a few punches for you.”
Steve would take a whole lot more than some punches for you. By now, he’s sure he would lay down his life without a second thought just for you. He would probably find a way to lasso the moon for you.
He didn’t know that you would do exactly the same.
Tumblr media
Your phone rang, pulling you from the trance that had kept all of your focus on your physics textbook. You already knew Steve was on the other end, ready to talk your ear off, not that you minded.
Ever since he broke up with Nancy, which had to have been about a month and a half ago now, he’s made a habit of calling you every day, telling you about anything and everything he can think of.
Steve has been your best friend since you were old enough to know what those words meant, but you supposed that after everything you had helped him through since Halloween, he’s become even more attached to you.
You didn’t mind that, either. Over the past month or two, you’ve found yourself realizing you had feelings for Steve, which was a tough pill to swallow, at first.
He went from being the kid who used to split his lunch with you at recess, your awkward middle school dance partner, your study buddy, your ride home, and your partner in crime to the person you want to spend forever with.
You’ve had a taste of forever with him, 13 years and counting, and God. You wanted the full thing.
But first, the phone call. You’d settle for the phone calls.
“Hey babe, you know today I saw this cute little flower and it reminded me of you, it was like purplish and it was just sitting right between a bunch of daisies. I really wish I had a sick camera cause I think you would've loved it.”
He genuinely didn’t even realize he had called you babe. He couldn’t help it, it just happened. Steve and his stupid mouth, he thought, as he mentally kicked himself. He wondered if you could sense his panic over the phone.
Once again, you saved him by not acknowledging it, but this time, he’s 99% sure you noticed, because your voice sounded different, more flustered.
“That’s really sweet, Steve.”
A short moment passed, full of you both cursing yourselves. Him, for saying something maybe too romantic and ruining your friendship, and you, for not saying more.
“You know, today I saw a dead raccoon on the side of the road, really reminded me of you.”
He scoffed and you laughed fully, knowing he was definitely rolling his eyes.
“You know, this is what I get for saying cute shit to you. Remind me why we're still friends?”
“Because you love me Harrington, whether you like it or not.”
“I guess.”
He “guessed”  he’s probably never loved anyone more, and that terrified him. But he figured that was a lot to dump on you, especially over the phone. That was when he hatched a master plan: lure you out of your house, because it was early on a Saturday night, and then find a way to romantically profess his love for you, because you deserved to know and also because you deserved every grand gesture in the book.
“What are you up to?”
He heard you shift around before you replied.
“Studying for physics. You saved me from probably two more hours of endless boredom.”
He laughed, and you missed the sound of his laughter ringing in your ears, unaffected by telephone static.
“Can you sneak out tonight?”
“For what?”
“A surprise, gotta wait until I pick you up to find out.”
You could hear the smile in his voice, and you wished you could see it.
You also wished you could stop sounding so stupidly in love with him, because it was grossing you out, but you knew you couldn’t. You were stupidly in love.
“Sure. But be here in 15 minutes.”
“It's a date.”
You really wish it was.
(It was).
Tumblr media
You snuck out your window exactly thirteen minutes later, dressed in a pretty little outfit that made Steve’s heart stop when he saw it.
“Hey Steve.”
Hey Steve?
You come down out of your window like some kind of angel, and you say Hey Steve.
“Hey, you look really pretty. Probably too pretty for where I’m driving you.”
You felt your body get a little warm at the compliment, and you felt stupidly happy when he opened the car door for you.
You tried not to be so obvious as you watched him drive, but you really couldn’t help but look.
You were finally seeing him now, and he was just so pretty.
He took you to your old elementary school, pulling in right by the playground.
You couldn’t help but shiver with the cold air of the night, so naturally, Steve wrapped his denim jacket around your shoulders as soon as he joined your side out of the car.
He admired the way your face seemed to glow in the moonlight, before taking your hand and leading you to the small playground.
“You know, you used to push me off that slide.”
You rolled your eyes, embarrassed at your five year old actions.
“Yea, but if anyone else did, I’d push them off too.”
He laughed, before moving to sit on one of the blue colored benches. Naturally, you followed, sitting close by his side.
“You also punched Tommy Hagan by that bench” he pointed at another bench across from yours, and the memories came flooding back, “because he said I was stupid after I failed my math test in the fourth grade.”
“He deserved it. Kid was a little asshole.”
That was something you weren’t embarrassed of. You’d punch someone for Steve the same way he would for you, and you would never grow to regret it.
“I think that was the moment I realized I loved you.”
You whipped your head towards him in shock and disbelief.
“What?”
“That was the moment I realized I loved you. I don’t think I knew then, just how much that meant, but now I do. Now I know, this all started at that moment. I’ve loved you ever since.”
He grabbed your hands, and you shifted so you were facing him.
“I see it now, now that Nancy’s out of the picture, I see that it's you that I’ve loved this whole time. It’s kind of ridiculous actually, how much I love you. I’m sure you can tell, from all the phone calls where I say stupid shit just because I want to hear your laugh. Or the movie nights where I selfishly pick scary movies because maybe you’ll move a little closer to me. I really, really love you. You’ve stuck by me from when I slept with a toy dinosaur to now, when I can’t go to sleep without calling you up to make me feel less lonely. You don’t have to say it back” he squeezed your hand then, “but, maybe just say something? Cause I can go on and on about why I love you, but I can’t make you love me back so it would be a little embarrassing if I just kept talking and you just want to keep being best friends.”
You squeezed his hands back.
“Steve, I could probably give you fifty reasons why I’ve found myself falling in love with you. You, you’re everything I think I’ll ever need. If everyone decided to leave tomorrow, and it was just you, I would be perfectly fine because you’re the only one I want. I wish I could tell you the specific moment when I had fallen in love with you, but I realized it when you called me your girl in the bathroom after Hargrove beat you up. It made me realize how badly I wanted to be your girl, it made me realize that I was in love with you. I might have been this whole time.”
He let go of your hand, to bring his to your cheek.
“You just one-upped my love confession. Not fair.”
And then he leaned in, brushing his lips against yours with the softest of touches, before fully kissing you. And when he did kiss you, he kissed you, taking your breath away, which was fine with you because you didn’t need oxygen when you had him.
“I could kiss you forever, you know that?”
Your forehead rested against his, and so you both shook when you laughed, until he joined you, both of you giddy with love.
“Slow your roll, pretty boy, you haven’t even asked me to be your girlfriend yet.”
He hoped it was too dark, even under the light of a full moon, for you to see his light blush at being called pretty.
He hopped up from the bench, only to get down on one knee and grab your hand, bringing it to his lips to place a light kiss upon your knuckles.
“(y/n), will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?”
You pretended to think, tapping your hand upon your chin, and Steve rolled his eyes at your antics.
“Of course. Now take me home, it's getting late.”
“As you wish, princess.”
He held onto the same hand he kissed, and you both nearly started skipping to his car, filled with joy at your newly requited love.
He turned the car on, and Can’t Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon came on.
Steve looked at you with a huge smile, turning up the radio, and you felt your body fill up with pure happiness. The pure joy you felt in that moment made you a little overwhelmed, and your eyes grew glassy with happy tears.
He pointed at you, singing loudly, but somehow still decently,
“You’re a candle in the window on a cold, dark winter’s night, and I’m getting closer than I ever thought I might”
You laughed, before joining him for the rest of the song, both of you giggling your way through the lyrics, losing yourselves in the other’s eyes. The music crescendoed, and then came to an end with a, “Baby I can’t fight this feeling anymore”. He brought you in for another sweet kiss, and you were so happy Steve couldn’t fight his feelings anymore, because here he was, kissing you. And every time he kissed you, from that cold November night and forever forward, all you and Steve felt was utter and complete happiness. Same goes for every time you both heard REO Speedwagon; Can’t Fight This Feeling comes on, and you’re both just like kids again, filled with the freedom that only teenagers in love have. Or maybe, it's the freedom that only comes with being with each other; you and Steve, forever.

Astrology observations 🦄🦄🦄
Tumblr media

Join in our little astrology tea time today!
🦄 Sign and planet over your 10th and your MC shows themes between you and your boss at your workplaces throughout your career. Scorpio MC: you might find your boss postpones a meeting, because of a death. Virgo MC: your boss could cancel a meeting due to needing to help or train someone else or a situation that involves their sibling. Capricorn MC: your boss might not be present at the workplace due to something happening with their parents.
🦄 Speaking further on that note, if you have Virgo MC your boss/teacher/professor/even parents might often reschedule your meeting or gathering.
🦄 I think Capricorn MC supposed to be the leader indication. However, I’ve seen often times they fail this due to inner insecurities or poor self-esteem. They always think they could be a leader, but sometimes even shy away when given the opportunity to lead. Often they feel like previous authority figures let them down in their life, even their parents, so they don’t trust the authority. Hence, never wanting to resemble one.
🦄 Aquarius Jupiter or Jupiter in the 11th house might decide to never marry.
🦄 Here is my personal testament, but from what I experienced all 8th house Moon synastry brought me was pure irritation. I can’t understand how people experience it as deep and soul bonding since in my cases I got constantly irritated, even at the first meeting. Both people stared at me when I least wanted despite being surrounded with other people to the point it got awkward due to such prolonged staring. Each time I was like “go find yourself something to do and stop staring”. I felt as if we were in a stare competition😂😅. And even in later interactions the person, intentionally or not, often found a way to do or say something that would end up in irritation. So I really can’t tolerate this overlay for something long-term. I just think your emotional worlds and how you process emotions are too different.
🦄 Jupiter in the 1st house people really like pilots or people connected with airplanes as inspirational icons. For example they love Amelia Earhart and others.
🦄 Often times, your birthday number already tells you significant things about your major natal chart placements, your dominant sign or what stands out the most in your chart. For example: your are born on the 4th of any month, you might have Cancer Rising, MC or Moon or you are a Moon dominant person. If you are born on the 30th, you have a Gemini MC, Gemini Moon or are Mercury dominant etc.
🦄 The best for investments when it comes to possessions is when Moon is transiting your 8th house. It’s when you find the best deals, offers. For example you have Cancer over the 8th house, look for when the Moon is currently in Cancer.
🦄 Cancer Suns might go for quite boring looking partners (sorry guys) since they much prefer something as natural looking as possible. Unless they are a Leo Venus haha.
🦄 The 7th house planets in the Solar Return chart and even sign over it show with which Sun sign you will hang one on one the most this year! So if you have Moon in the 7th house—> Cancer Suns
🦄 Often Libra Rising feels disconnected from their real identity. It’s like they put a costume on. They dress in a way they think they will be perceived positive, but it usually doesn’t even reflect or match with their true identity (Aries on the 7th house)! This would be the type to dress classy or even preppy, but it’s a true metalhead at their core.
🦄 If you have Cancer over the 8th house or even Moon in the 8th house, but to a lesser extent, you might end up living together with your first sexual partner.
🦄 You know how people that put their planets (not malefics) in your 2nd house usually buy you food or give you money? Well, I think this overlay indicates that they will sooner or later want something in return. But the real givers that will give selflessly and not want anything in return are indicated by your Part of Fortune sign and house. For example: you have Sagittarius Part of Fortune in the 1st house, Sagittarius and Aries Sun people will be like that with you.
🦄 The Rising sign in Solar Return chart indicates major themes of the year that you will be dealing with. For example: Capricorn Rising: issues with authority figures, your father, elderly, on social media. Sagittarius Rising: foreign travel or just travel in general, higher education, expanding your life and new major life experiences. Scorpio Rising: the year of sexual awakening and meeting of your potential future sexual partner. And MC sign shows for what you will be recognized this year.
🦄 I think Aries IC really struggles with becoming the socialite that their Libra MC is meant to be. Because they usually come from humble background, really hard-working people that might not have an office job etc., but were labour workers even or were not used working with many new people or even a team. So often times they are like a scale, one day they despite socialite kind of people and the next day they strive to become one. They also usually had jobs, where they didn’t deal with people or were working with items on their own.
🦄 If you’ve ever been in a long-term relationship with a Virgo or Capricorn Venus consider yourself lucky. Because they really fall in love, like 2-3 times in their life.
🦄 Cancer Mars people literally hold tight to their partners during sex. They might hold tight your hands for example.

The New Hire
An assistant for a wealthy business owner is given the task of hiring a pred to perform at their party
Content: fatal vore, digestion, observer pov
The assistant had a party to plan. It was part of their job as a personal assistant to one of the most terrifying people in the world. Although their employer never did anything terribly illegal, the assistant had the feeling that there were dark things happening that even they didn’t know about.
There were dark things that they did know about too. For example, their bosses' borderline obsession with predators.
Their boss had a kind of motif for the unconventional and disturbing. Their company crest was a serpent, which is already a devious animal. Instead of collecting valuable art, like a normal rich person, they purposefully bought forgeries that had been in museums and books for years before they were discovered. They bought houses where tragedies had taken place. And they loved finding old jewellery with no one left willing to inherit it.
Despite, or maybe because they weren’t a predator, the boss effused about preds whenever the opportunity arose. Telling the assistant about famous people who were preds, or business associates who were. However, this was an avenue of themselves that had yet to be truly indulged. In fact, the boss had never hired one before, the assistant suspected they went out of their way to avoid it. Until today.
One of the things the assistant had to organise, was finding a predator to be at the party. This is how the boss phrased it: “I want you to find one who can keep down their prey, who can keep still for several hours. Maybe one who has experience as a figure painting model - I don’t know - I don’t really care, I know this was kind of last minute.”
It was last minute, it was the day-of.
“-But, just as long as you can find a predator who doesn’t have ‘stage fright’ or ‘performance anxiety’, someone moderately professional - that’s really all I need. You will pay them whatever they ask, of course. I know it’s a strange request, but it would really bring something to this party; there’s a few people I want to scare the shit out of, and this'll do it.”
The boss hired them for a reason: the assistant could get anyone, at any time, exactly where the boss wanted them. They had many, many feelers. And it didn’t take them long to get a bite.
One of their scouts had found someone who was free that night, a pred, a masters student, broke and willing to take a sketchy job. But their LinkedIn looked reliable, and they worked at a local theatre. They played the donkey in a modern rendition of MidSummer Nights Dream... A perfect hire, really. They could probably handle some weird shit.
The new hire was picked up and delivered to the event’s location on time (one of the bosses’ cursed apartments, a place where they specifically hosted parties). The assistant took the opportunity to formally debrief them.
“You will be dressed and prepared by our costume designers, and the hair and makeup team; we have a few other performers that you need to match - you’ll meet them soon. Your job after that is to consume the prey provided for you, you only have to eat one, and then you must begin digesting and continue until you are dismissed. The choreographer will guide you on how to compose yourself before you begin the performance.
If you need a break, there’s a discreet button you can press, you will be able to go backstage for a short time, and someone will get you what you need.”
The pred looked overwhelmed, but eager to impress them. They nodded and said something, but the assistant was already busy with someone else.
An enclosure was set up for the pred and a couple other performers to be contained in. The rest of them would be serving drinks, or performing other acts in separate areas across the venue.
The enclosure was visible from most angles, almost in the centre of the room, although there was a backdoor that the performers could exit from. Inside was like a small, midas forest, with faberge-like flowers and funguses. It matched the decorations of the rest of the venue, except it was more dense and atmospheric.
The enclosure was inaccessible to the audience, although there was no actual barrier, more of a circumference of props that would be impossible to navigate. The assistant had requested this, so that the view of the performance would not be obstructed.
Soon, the predator emerged, glittering under the moody, dappled lights. They had in contacts that made their eyes a solid, iridescent gold. On their back was a thin cape that looked like butterfly wings. On their head were some kind of horn or antler piece, decorated with primrose blooms. On their arms and legs were a metal lace, with a flowing transparent garment over top.
The curves of their body, especially their now plump abdomen, was lined with the finest paint brush, of intricate, organic patterns. They looked like a bounty, the cornucopia, or a paegan god. Their prey visibly wriggled under their skin, trying in a futile attempt to escape the stomach acids that were just beginning to release. The movements of the meal made a strange optical illusion under the temporary tattoos, it glittered as it shifted in the dim lights.
This was not the same person who came in two hours ago. Frazzled, mousy-haired, rectangle glasses, exceedingly average appearance. The person who the assistant was looking at really wasn’t a person at all. It moved, but it wasn’t a person.
The assistant was impressed, to say the least. They’d have to give credit to the makeup department. Maybe even give them a raise. Maybe.
They’d have to hear what their boss thought about this whole thing. Was it too much? Where was their boss anyway?
The assistant suddenly got a sinking feeling. Had the predator they hired somehow eaten their boss? But no, just then, they appeared behind a crowd of people. Although it was early, it would only get more crowded later on.
The assistant watched their reaction closely. Laughing at some joke, their boss turned to look at the stage. Their eyes went wide, but only for a second before they regained composure and guided their group forward to get a better look at the performance.
---
The assistant stayed close to the predator for most of the night, this was not a time for them to network. And they also made sure two security guards stayed nearby, just in case any guests got carried away and tried to get in the enclosure.
The other reason they stayed by, though, is to gauge reactions of the guests. Their boss couldn’t pay close attention to these things, but if the assistant gathered data, they would be able to tell how successful the idea was.
There were mixed reactions. Some guests gawked like the pred was a zoo animal, trying to get a reaction from them, which thankfully was unsuccessful. The most the pred would do is stare at a party-goer, unspeaking, with their emotionless, ethereal golden eyes. The pred did it once to the assistant, a good, long stare, and it did send a shiver down their spine. It was a primal fear, being spotted by a predator, their belly obviously full of one of your fellow prey. But were they still hungry? Am I next? What was going on behind those eyes…? Even though the assistant of all people knew it was an act, they couldn’t help but endure those thoughts.
Other guests let the assistant know that they thought it was obscene. A predator out in public, digesting a person alive, right in front of everyone? It was frankly unacceptable. And dressing them up didn’t make it any better. The assistant listened to these people sympathetically, but unfortunately for them, this was exactly the reaction that their boss wanted.
The party went on and the pred laid down on a kind of mossy platform that the enclosure featured. They spread across it languidly on their side, belly resting heavily on the moss. They traced gentle patterns on it with a clawed fingertip, tracing the curves of the prey.
With a slightly sickening realisation, the assistant noticed the prey wasn’t struggling any more. They knew this was what happened when one put prey in the stomach of a predator, but they never had seen it happen in real time. They couldn’t help but feel a sense of injustice as the pred lay there smug, satisfied, petting at their engorged belly.
The assistant shook the thought away. It’s what the boss wanted. What the boss wants, the boss gets.
It was getting late, many guests had already left. The assistant looked for their employer, who wasn’t hard to find.
“Boss,”
They were wearing all black, like an oil spill.
“You’ve done well today,” they said, “I’m impressed, I’m inspired, I have so many ideas. Everyone was upset about it- it was great. And the predator…” they sighed. “Perfect. Maybe a little over the top with the costuming, but the idea came across perfectly.”
“Thank you.”
“They’re a keeper, don’t you think? I’d love to see them here again. In fact, let’s go over there right now.” The assistant was led back to the main room with the enclosure.
Another sinking feeling. The pred’s stomach was rounder, the curves that the pred had been tracing were faint if not non-existent. And now that the party had died down, the assistant could hear the stomach over the music growling, murmuring, with deep digestive gurgles.
The boss clasped their hands together, “magnificent. Look at how far along they are already - what a brutally efficient stomach you have,” the boss said to the predator.
The boss rarely complimented people. The pred rested a hand on their stomach, maybe self-consciously, and avoided looking at their audience.
“They won’t acknowledge you,” the assistant reminded their boss, “by your request.”
“Oh I know.” the boss waved their hand, “and that is how I want it to be. More mysterious that way. People fear what they don’t understand, you know.”
After the party was over and the boss went home and to bed, the assistant still had work to do. Packing down, making sure everyone got paid.
By the time they next saw the predator, they had reverted back to their former selves; wearing the clothes they arrived in, make up washed from their face (except for a faint gold smudge), and their eyes were brown and with pupils again. They looked tired. It was nearly 10am, they had been on location for over 12 hours by this point. Still, when they saw the assistant, they sat up straighter and anxiously waited to hear what they thought.
The assistant looked down at the pred’s bloated stomach. They thought about warning them; They might not want to put up with the bosses’ antics.
They should get out before it is too late.
But then again, the boss wanted this pred, and what the boss wants, the boss gets. The assistant was the last person on the earth who would sabotage that.
So all they said was “well done,” and gave the pred an envelope with ten thousand dollars cash. They would be back.

It was finally halloween, the time of year where you would usually call up your best friend lee donghyuck to do all those little halloween things before scaring and bullying kids.
You originally wanted to do a little party with your friends but apparently everyone all of a sudden had to do something, which, in your opinion was total bs. But at least you still had haechan, god did the man piss you off at times but he was a good friend, a cute one maybe even pretty.
“That actually looks like shit” Haechan had the audacity to say while you were carving your pumpkin that you were actually working very hard on, but your ego came back up after seeing his. “You have no right to talk, I cant tell if your trying to make a version of jack the skeleton that was dropkicked as a baby and fell down the stairs 1 million times or if your just making a pumpkin self portrait” You snapped back
“My mother told me to be an honest person, so I told you the truth, no need to insult me!” He replies with wide eyes. Before you could say anything more both of you heard a bell ring, a grin crept up both of your faces before running to the door with vegetables.
You both fought to open the door until u slapped him “get your fatass hand away from the handle I wanna see our victim first” you whispered loudly, the bell rang one last time before you opened the door.
You both saw a young girl in a unicorn costume
“Well hi! What are you this halloween?” You asked
“Isn’t it pretty obvious” the child said, which shocked me with the attitude. She really deserves a vegetable now.
“Is it a fairy??”
“I’m a mermaid you dumb bitch”
I turned to hyuck and mouthed “goddamn..”
“Oh.. Uh… Choose 3 candies from here” This girl scares me i literally might shit my pants on the spot.
You and hyuck watch as the girl skips away to her mother that was waiting by the end of the driveway, still in shock.
“You were supposed to give her the vegetable!”
“Well she’s got fucking anger issues i don’t wanna get cursed out by a child again!”
“Whatever”
I walked back to the kitchen with hyuck right behind me, while i try to extend my legs as much as possible (which TOTALLY not an attempt to trip him)
“What the fuck are you doing ___”
“Its a walking habit hyuck, have you not known me long enough to know that?” you ask with a fake betrayed look on your face
“__ Ive know you for far too long to know thats not a habit of yours. Its a poor attempt of trying to trip me. YOU are the traitor not me.” He grabs his chest and looks away in a fake dramatic manor
you roll your eyes “drama queen.. Well whatever lets watch a movie we can finish the pumpkins tomorrow.” and you gave him the bright smile that hes always loved.
When he saw that smile his heart leaped as usual, whenever he saw you he swears he might have a heart attack; just how could a human be so perfect, is what hed always ask himself whenever he saw you. You are the epitome of perfection to him, and thats exactly what hurt him, he wanted you so bad but he just didnt want to ruin your relationship with him incase you didnt like him back.
Hyuck decided to watch scream on whatever illegal website you could find on your tv, when the part where Casey becker was gutted you flinched a bit immediately holding on to hyuck for comfort, as he just cuddled you closer in response, wrapping you around with the blanket. You looked up at him admiring him for a bit, your heart skipping a bit while the movie plays in the background, you then lean in to kiss him lips barely brushing against each others, thats when you heard a ring your house phone was ringing. A bit freaked out thanks to the scream movie you were watching, you walked up to the phone with hyuck trailing behind you, a bit bummed out the moment was interrupted.
“Hello? Who is this” the fear in your voice evident
“You dont need to know who i am” the deep voice replied, you look at hyuck to see if he had anything to do with this, but he looked equally confused
“Do not fucking play with me right now, im watching scream right now and you using that voice is gonna make me shit my pants now fuck off and dont joke around” you hang up pissed “just some creep” you told hyuck “ok whatever, can we please contin-” his voiced was cut off by the phone ringing again.
You turn around and pick up the phone again
“Dont fucking hang up on me bitch”
“What the fuck can i not just enjoy my halloween for goodness sake” someone started loudly banging on the door
“Open the fucking door”
“No”
“Open the fucking door NOW”
I cover the phone dk the person couldnt hear me “hyuck please open the door”
“Yes ma’am” I walk next to him with the phone still by me, as hyucks hand slowly reaches for the door knob he opens it
You scream and jump into hyucks arms scared for what would happen, only to be met with a loud
“SURPRISE!!!” you open your eyes to see a bunch of your friends laughing at you including haechan
“That was not fucking funny!” you say close to tears, looking at giselle holding a phone “And you YOU i thought no one was coming!” you jumped out of hyucks arms close to tears (angry tears be so real)
“Woah woah we are so sorry ___! Youre right that wasnt funny” hyuck apologises hugging you
“Thats right you better be sorry” you say as you cried
“I think we should leave.. seems like somethings going on here and i dont wanna be a witness…” you hear ningning say as the group walk away
°°°°°°°°
“Are you mad at me?” hyuck asks worried
“You actually thought my tears were real? I didnt know i was that good of an actor” you reply, a bit shocked he believed your stunt
“You were lying??”
“Ofcourse i just wanted to get the away so i could kiss you in private” you say as you grab his face and give him a sweet pure kiss, finally able to continue the urge after you got rudely interrupted right when you were about to kiss him.
“So are we official now?” he asks
“ofcourse”

⊹˚.⋆ synopsis . . . a secret meeting discussing the life and death of [name]
⊹˚.⋆ starring . . . billy loomis, stu macher, & male reader
Two men sat alone in the empty house. Tension stifled the room in which they sat. A Halloween costume with a small, white voice-changer laid at the table next to a knife.
"We have to kill him, Stu. He's going to get too close. Better now than never."
"W-We can't!"
Billy slammed his fist on the table as he stood up, "Oh, please! He already thinks that Casey Becker was personal! I'm sure he thinks you killed her too."
Stu glared at Billy who dominated above him, "You're being paranoid, man. [Name] likes me too much to think I killed Casey."
"Doesn't seem like it."
"What do you mean by that?" Stu stood up and began to pace. Billy scoffed, "You have to be kidding! Did you see the way he ran away after you decided to be a fucking moron, and tell everyone how you gut someone! He knows. And if he doesn't; you're his number one suspect."
Stu began to bite his nails in fear. Did [Name] really know? It would destroy their relationship that he worked so hard to build!
"You know I'm right."
Stu shook his head, "We have to let him live. We can see where the cracks in our alibi are! Every movie needs a sequel, but we won't have a sequel if we get caught."
Billy sighed, "Fine. We'll keep him alive 'til the night of the party, but he's not getting out of there alive. Only me and you."
Stu nodded, but he didn't exactly agree with Billy's words. You were too good for just one movie. You were going to be their final boy; after all, what good movie series didn't have a final boy/girl? All he needed was to make Billy love you as much as he did.
Grabbing the costume on the table, Stu began to rehearse the plan in his head. Don't kill her just give her a scare then let Billy save the day. The warmth of the costume surrounded his body, and the only thing he could remember was the sound of your scared voice as he called from across the street.

Van Gogh's Letters
Tumblr media
[To Theo van Gogh. Arles, 20 May 1888]
We no longer rebel against things, we’re not resigned either — we’re ill and it’s not going to get any better — and we can’t do anything specific about it. I don’t know who called this condition being struck by death and immortality. The cab we drag along must be of use to people we don’t know. But you see, if we believe in the new art, in the artists of the future, our presentiment doesn’t deceive us. When good père Corot said a few days before he died: last night I saw in my dreams landscapes with entirely pink skies, well, didn’t they come, those pink skies, and yellow and green into the bargain, in Impressionist landscapes? All this is to say there are things one senses in the future and that really come about.
And we, who, I’m inclined to believe, are by no means so close to dying, nevertheless feel the thing is bigger than us and longer-lasting than our lives.
We don’t feel we’re dying, but we feel the reality of the fact that we’re not much, and that to be a link in the chain of artists we pay a steep price in health, youth, freedom, which we don’t enjoy at all, any more than the cab-horse that pulls a carriage full of people who, unlike him, are going out to enjoy the springtime. Well then — what I wish you as well as myself is to succeed in recovering our health, because we’ll need it. That Hope of Puvis de Chavannes is such a reality. There’s an art in the future and it will surely be so beautiful and so young that, really, if at present we leave it our own youth, we can only gain in tranquillity. Perhaps it’s too silly to write all this, but it’s what I felt; it seemed that like me, you suffered to see your youth going up in — smoke — but if it comes back and appears in what we do, there’s nothing lost, and the power to work is a second youth. So be serious about getting better, because we’ll need our health. I shake your hand firmly, and Koning’s too.
Ever yours,
Vincent

[To Emile Bernard. Arles, Sunday, 18 March 1888]
My dear Bernard,
Having promised to write to you, I want to begin by telling you that this part of the world seems to me as beautiful as Japan for the clearness of the atmosphere and the gay colour effects. The stretches of water make patches of a beautiful emerald and a rich blue in the landscapes, as we see it in the Japanese prints. Pale orange sunsets making the fields look blue – glorious yellow suns. However, so far I’ve hardly seen this part of the world in its usual summer splendour. The women’s costume is pretty, and especially on the boulevard on Sunday you see some very naive and well-chosen arrangements of colour. And that, too, will doubtless get even livelier in summer.
I regret that living here isn’t as cheap as I’d hoped, and until now I haven’t found a way of getting by as easily as one could do in Pont-Aven. I started out paying francs and now I’m on francs a day. One would need to know the local patois, and know how to eat bouillabaisse and aïoli, then one would surely find an inexpensive family boarding-house. Then if there were several of us, I’m inclined to believe we’d get more favourable terms. Perhaps there’d be a real advantage in emigrating to the south for many artists in love with sunshine and colour. The Japanese may not be making progress in their country, but there’s no doubt that their art is being carried on in France. At the top of this letter I’m sending you a little croquis of a study that’s preoccupying me as to how to make something of it – sailors coming back with their sweethearts towards the town, which projects the strange silhouette of its drawbridge against a huge yellow sun.

[To Theo van Gogh. Arles, Friday, 4 January 1889]
My dear brother
I hope that Gauguin will also completely reassure you a little regarding painting matters. I expect to start work again soon. The charwoman and my friend Roulin had taken care of the house, put everything in good order.
When I come out I’ll be able to continue on my way here again, and soon the fine days will come and I’ll start on the orchards in blossom again.
I am, my dear brother, so heartbroken by your journey, I would have wished that you’d been spared that, for all in all no harm has come to me, and it wasn’t worth troubling you.
I can’t tell you how much it delights me that you’ve made peace and even more than that with the Bongers. Say so on my behalf to André, and give him a very cordial handshake from me.
What wouldn’t I have given for you to see Arles in fine weather, now you have seen it when it’s dark. However, be of good heart, send the letters directly to me, place Lamartine. I’ll send Gauguin the paintings of his that are still at the house as soon as he wishes. We owe him the money he spent on the furniture.
Ever yours,
Vincent

[To Theo van Gogh, The Hague, 11 July 1883]
My aim is to do a drawing that not exactly everyone will understand, the figure expressed in its essence in simplified form, with deliberate disregard of those details that aren’t part of the true character and are merely accidental. Thus it shouldn’t, for example, be the portrait of Pa but rather the type of a poor village pastor going to visit a sick person. The same with the couple arm in arm by the beech hedge — the type of a man and woman who have grown old together and in whom love and loyalty have remained, rather than portraits of Pa and Ma, although I hope they’ll pose for it. But they must know that it’s serious, which they might not see for themselves if the likeness isn’t exact.
And should be a bit prepared, in the event that this happens, for having to pose as I say and not change anything. Well, that will be all right, and I don’t work so slowly as to make it a great effort for them. And for my part I would greatly value doing it. Simplifying the figures is something that very much preoccupies me. Anyway, you’ll see some for yourself among the figures I’ll show you. If I went to Brabant, it should certainly not be an excursion or pleasure trip, it seems to me, but a short period of very hard work at lightning speed. Speaking of expression in a figure, I’m becoming more and more persuaded that it lies not so much in the features as in the whole manner. I find few things as horrible as most academic facial expressions. I would rather look at ‘Night’ by Michelangelo, or a drunk by Daumier, or The diggers by Millet, and that large woodcut by him, The shepherdess. Or at an old horse by Mauve &c.

What if Disney adapted Bluebeard?
If we're talking fairy tale animation, I don't think they'd ever touch it. Far too dark. It'd probably make a pretty decent dark fantasy semi-horror like Alice in Wonderland (2010) though!
Again, not really my genre, but if I were to take a stab at it:
It's a dark fairy tale-esque fantasy with both horror and romance elements, so obviously it gets set in quasy-Victorian era, with lush, but slightly historically inaccurate costumes.
The protagonist needs a name, of course, let's call her Emily. She is about 21 years old, beautiful, headstrong, and either not interested in marriage, or deeply romantic and eagerly looking for true love. Her parents are utterly unimportant, possibly one of them is dead because who even has two parents.
Her older sister Anne will probably get cut, sorry. She has a very good relationship with her brother (one of them gets cut too), but he is away from home for unclear reasons, maybe at sea or at war or whatever. Maybe he has a best friend who is secretly in love with Emily.
Bluebeard (that's his nickname, he has an actual name, something like... Dorian Morton) would be styled in Victorian Goth, very rich, very charming, probably called Lord and Sir without ever making clear whether he's gentry or nobility or whatever. Uncomfortably attractive, of course, but constantly surrounded by ominous lighting and music to warn the audience that he has a Secret. In spite of this he sweeps our heroine off her feet, she falls madly in love, they marry and he whisks her away to his terribly gothic mansion and it's all very romantic.
Once there she gets the all important "you are mistress of my heart and of my home, but never open the door that this golden key fits to, okay love you forever I am leaving for unspecified manly reasons" message and is left alone.
Now there are two routes this could go, depending on how dark or whimsical this movie wants to be. Either Emily finds a basement mausoleum with six marble coffins with the images of the previous wives carved lifesize onto the slabs (this makes Bluebeard a common murderer), or she finds six magical glass coffins where seven women are lying in a magical death sleep (this makes him something more sorcerer or warlock like).
Emily is horrofied, heartbroken, terrified. She manages to send a message to her brother, but Bluebeard comes home before she has any way of knowing if he even received it. She stalls for time, but Bluebeard finds out she looked in the room and he is very dramatic about this betrayal of his trust, making it very clear that he never wanted to harm any of his wives, but that he had to because they just didn't love him unconditionally enough and all wanted to leave him :(. He probably tells Emily that he loves her the most and that if she'll just forget what she saw they can live happily ever after. But she is a pure hearted heroine and tearfully refuses.
Lord Dorian Bluebeard Morton snaps dramatically and tries to kill her, (it's very important that this is the first time he is ever abusive towards her). She runs, he chases her to the roof of the mansion (maybe there is a tower for no reason), there's a storm, he falls to his death in good Disney fashion, possibly while looking Emily in the eyes and professing his love for her. (The small, but passionate fandom will insist this is an important moment of redemption for him.)
Emily's brother (and possible secondary romantic thread best friend) arrive just in time to see him fall and to comfort a stricken but brave Emily at the top of the stairs. (If they go for the magical angle this is where all the other wives wake up, terrified but relieved, and possibly have enough chemistry to prompt the fandom to write "what if all seven ladies just stayed in the house together" fix-its.)
There is a final scene where Lady Emily Morton, dressed in beautiful mourning blacks, walks the halls of her now bustling mansion, which looks less cursed now. Her brother is there to be affectionate, his best friend is possibly there to respectfully admire her. (The other wives can be there looking healthy and best-friend material if they survived.) Emily goes to the spot where her husband fell to his death and looks out dramatically, the music plays Bluebeard's theme. The end.
...is this a diluted Crimson Peak without the ghosts and the sister? Oh dear I think it is. Anyway, I would very much enjoy watching this with my sister, but probably not like it enough to go back for a second viewing.

Small Victories Pt. 2
The paring is Han Jisung x F!Reader. The reader isn't into K-Pop but when your best friend gets your friend group a position in a contest to win a chance to preform with stray kids. You may not want to do it but you will do anything for Gwen. What can happen its not like you'll win.
Warning there is some mentions of reader's cheating ex
It had been exactly two weeks since we started preparing for this contest. We have spent nearly everyday working hard to master these performances. Working so hard that Gwen and the others decided we deserve a break day. So taking full advantage of finally being able to do whatever I want, I'm sitting at my favorite café drawing panels for my comic. I had been so deep into designing the panels I didn't realize Gwen had texted me so in her normal fashion she just called me instead of waiting for my response. Looking over at my phone I sighed, setting my pencil down, exchanging it for the annoying device.
“Yeeees?” I answered the phone nonchalantly.
“Hey! I'm so sorry to ask but,” there's always a but. “I need you to come over and help me with the costumes..” as she said this I sighed at her.
“So much for a break day.” I know she could tell I was rolling my eyes. “Look, give me like 30 minutes and I'll be there.”
“Thank you, I don't know what I would do without you Y/N!” I'm glad one of us is happy I hung up the call. I looked down at my artwork smiling to myself before I packed my things away into my bag. I was really starting to love how my story was playing out. As of recently I haven't had much time to work on it. Once this contest was over I could finally get back to spending most of my time on the comic.
Standing up I waved at the barista behind the counter smiling at her before walking out the café. As I walked out I collided with a man who was a little taller than me, he was wearing a hat along with a face mask. As we collided my bag dumped out onto the sidewalk. Pure panic set in the moment I saw a few of my sketchbook pages scattered on the ground. Quickly I started trying to pick them up when the mystery man crouched down and began helping me.
“I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention and i didn't see you.” the stranger apologized to me as he looked down at the pages he was holding. “Whoa! Did you draw these?” He seemed impressed even though he was having a good reaction to my drawings. I was still extremely embarrassed.
I smiled at him before taking my drawings back and repacking my bag. “Uhh, yes I did. I'm kinda writing a comic book.” saying it out loud to a stranger made me feel weird. I honestly hope this guy just glosses over it and we go about our ways.
“That's really cool actually.'' All I could see of his face were his eyes and that definitely didn't give me much to go off of. “I'm actually a really big comic book fan.” I could tell by his voice he was smiling.
“Oh really? Me too!” as i said this my phone went off snapping me back into reality. “I'm so sorry I really need to get going.”
“Oh ok, umm id like to see more of your work.” he said this as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. “Could I get your number? Maybe you could send me some panels.." I blushed at his question. He wanted to see more of my art. Nervously I nodded , taking his device and typing my number in. “I'm sorry, again.”
Smiling one last time to him I said, “no worries!'' I quickly made my way to Gwen's house. She wondered why I had been a little late so I informed her of the mystery man. She was tickled to death over the situation. Talking about how I met my soulmate which I quickly shut down. I'm not worried about relationships, the last one I was in destroyed me. I'm not trying to get into anything. Even though it's been 2 years I still don't want to deal with it.
“Come on! You can't tell me if you saw his face and he was cute you would be so in love with him.” she said this, raising her eyebrows at me.
Scoffing at her I rolled my eyes, “as if! I'm not you hoe." We started laughing then dropping the conversation about the mystery man we started getting to work on piecing together costumes. After a while of sowing we decided to take a break. Gwen started scrolling on twitter and I started drawing of course. About ten minutes into our break My friend let out a dramatic gasp. I looked up at her, raising an eyebrow waiting for her to explain.
“There's no fucking way!” She kept staring at her screen in disbelief. “I need you to look at this tweet, but don't freak out.” she held her phone out for me to take it. Still looking at her confused i took the phone in my hands. I looked at the tweet in shock trying to figure out what I was looking at.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Do you think you ran into HAN!?” she asked as if her life depended on it causing me to shake my head.
“There is no way I ran into Han Jisung.” I tossed her the phone. “That's just a coincidence.” It has to be true though what is the possibility that his tweet was talking about me. Plus even if it was the mystery guy still hasn't texted me so it's not like i could ask him who he was. “Even if it is, you know how I feel about men.”
Rolling her eyes at me she set her phone down. “We will just have to see if it is then.” crossing her arms she looked over at me. “Not every man is your ex Y/N. One day you're gonna find a guy you wanna date.”
I laughed at her comment, “yeah when hell freezes over!” together we laughed off the whole situation. A few hours later we finished a lot of costume work and I decided it was time for me to get home. After saying our goodbyes I began my walk home. It was dark now and the streets were empty, usually this would make me nervous. Tonight however I found it peaceful. The stars were shining, there was a lack of clouds allowing for the moonlight to illuminate the surroundings.
Nights like this made me think back to a time when I never walked alone. It's been a long time since I've existed like that. Having a companion who was with me for everything. When you start to depend on someone, that's when you give them a way to destroy you. They get the power to tear you down with their words and actions. It only takes one mistake to shatter someone's heart.
It was a night much like this one. I was walking home alone, that night it was unusual. Normally i walked hand and hand with him home no matter what he was always there. Pushing down the growing fear in my stomach I wondered why I felt this way. He didn't need to be with me all the time, but this wasn't like him. I rushed home to the home we made together. When I opened the door I saw an extra pair of shoes by his. I stared at them trying to find a way to convince myself they belonged to his mom or maybe his sister. Neither of them ever wore heels but maybe they were a gift. Walking down the hall I saw no one in the kitchen or living room. I could start to feel myself shaking as I heard noises.
I pushed the door open and that was the night I lost all the light I had in me. It was the night all the butterflies died and turned to punches that I screamed at to come back to life. Sadly, screaming doesn't make the pain better. I don't understand why something that happened so long ago could hurt like this. Still deep in thought I walked through my door setting my bag down on the counter. I ran a hand through my hair trying to decide if I was going to go to  bed or force myself to eat. Going to bed wining, I headed to my room and changed. As I laid  in my bed I heard my phone go off, sighing I picked it up it was a message from a new number. Hello mystery man I quickly opened the message.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We texted back and forth and ended up playing 20 questions until two in the morning. It was weird i didn't really talk to men or people. Unless it has to do with commission work or something with my friends I don't usually talk to anyone. I say that but here I am staring at a screen waiting for this random guy to respond to me. This honestly made me feel dumb yet still i continued to talk to him.
For the next week I spent most of my free time getting to know Peter. We had quite a few things in common. We both enjoyed a lot of the same mangas, comics, and anime. We both loved cheese cake more than life and we both preferred cold coffee. We both could play instruments and dance. Since we started talking I've asked him what he looks like. I would get excuses about how he hates how he looks and me being an insecure person too, I respected his privacy. I still wished I had a face to place with the name one day he'll show me.

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #41
Somehow, today I managed to mostly successfully chill.
Though I had intended to play Terraria with my new friend from Germany, due to the flow of our respective lives in different parts of the world, I played by myself instead. And this was also very good!
I think, more than I realized previously, I needed a bit of time to do things without socializing, anyhow. As much as I love to interact with the people I care about, for me, being around others comes with a vague sort of… heaviness…??? that I don't really know how to articulate. It's not something that others impose upon me; I know that this thing is internal to me; it is leftover from my past, so at this point, the fact that this "heaviness" still exists is no one's fault but mine.
I think it might have to do with the fact that when I'm around others, I put a lot of pressure on myself to exist in ways that are consistent with the other person's needs, wishes, and comfort. Though, whether I can do that well is an entirely different matter altogether; I feel very clumsy in this regard almost all the time, and when I am around other people, I can never really shake the sense that I'm falling short of being good company. I never feel as though I do a very good job of being a person around other people. So although I try really hard to be a safe and comfortable space for others in which they can be nurtured and at ease, I feel like I'm constantly failing at it.
Being by myself doesn't come with the vague dread of "what if I say or do the wrong thing and I end up hurting the other person and then they hate me forever, oh no." But it does often come with the vague guilt of, "maybe I'm being selfish by not trying to be helpful somehow to someone else in this immediate moment." Either way, I'm not quite relaxed no matter what I do, so the only thing I know to do is to switch up my various states of "not-quite-relaxed" once in a while so that my brain doesn't explode or something.
I wonder if any of this sounds at all familiar to you? Are these things that you must struggle with? I know you can't answer me, but still I wonder.
Today I gathered materials and made various quality-of-life changes to the structure of the Underworld biome. Really, I was trying to gather up gems so that I could make stained glass, but my brain would not settle down, and I kept bouncing from one task to the next without actually finishing much of anything. My friend from Germany worked really hard to create a tunnel to the Underworld biome, so I wanted to complement her tunnel with a house made of obsidian, but then I realized that I don't remember the dimensions of the kinds of houses I used to build.
So I looked in old worlds on different computers. I remember having built various themed houses; one was cactus-themed, another was pumpkin-themed, and another was sandstone-themed… I remember that they were all lovely, and I was very pleased with what I had done. But none of the working computers had the world I was looking for. I think it must still be on my laptop that no longer works, but I'm not entirely sure.
In any case, I did find older examples of my general style of building. I'll show you a few pictures; it's mostly shops that I built (an inn, a bar, a tailor and costume shop, a weapons and armor shop…). I'm especially proud of my marble owl coliseum; I'll save that one for last.
Here is a very old build, back before amber was added as a gemstone:
Tumblr media
Here is an armor shop (left) and a weapons shop (right).

Here is a make-pretend costume shop:

Here is a make-pretend hospital. You can tell it's a later build because there are bits of orange stained glass, which are made with the amber gemstone:

This is where the general goods merchant is supposed to live. I'm not sure why the dryad is in there... hm. Oh well.

This is where the barkeep lives. I built it to look like a tavern:

This is where the guide lives. I built it to look like an inn.

This is the crafting area, which also leads to the tunnel to the Underworld biome. Yes, it's a very, VERY long way down, and yes, the whole way down is rainbow-colored with this pattern. I'm autistic; one of my superpowers is my unreasonable levels of persistence for repetitive tasks that are absolutely meaningless! Hahaha!!

This is the lower half of the coliseum I built. It's very big. We go there to fight bosses, or to take care of goblin raids, or pirate raids, or Blood Moons, or Solar Eclipses, or...

And finally, here is the upper half. It serves no real practical purpose, but I drew an owl and various other geometric designs with the different kinds of marble walls. Because why not? Parts of it are unfinished, but that's okay.

I think that if I experiment with building something like this again, I might see how having foreground blocks recessed into the background via actuators might look; who knows, it might turn out to be kinda cool!
If I ever find the world with the various themed houses I built, I'll be sure to snap a few pictures so I can show them to you.
I wonder if you'd like Terraria. I wonder what sorts of things you would build in it. It's a shame that we'll likely never get to find out. I feel more than a little sad about this, actually…
Anywhozits… whatever it is that you're doing at the Edge of Creation, please stay safe. Make good choices. Remember that you are loved and cared for, and let that knowledge give you enough courage to remain kind and gentle. Build amazing things. Build yourself up into someone even more wonderful than you are already. If anyone has what it takes, it's you.
I will write again very soon.
Your friend, Lumine

Chapter 3: Seeing the show
I followed Melissa to the end of the line where people were waiting to get into the theatre. We were in can can seats so we had to be early, but the line was pretty long. When the doors to the theatre opened the line went quick and before I knew it I was in the theatre. Melissa had seen the show once so she knew exactly where we needed to go. When I walked into the house I was stunned by all the decor. The windmill, the elephant. Everything from the movie was there. It was so pretty! I asked Melissa to take my picture so I could put it in my Instagram story. We also took a picture together which I posted with the caption: Best friends night out! Rouge baby!
We walked further into the house to get in our can can seats. I knew they would be great seats, but I hadn't expected it to be this close to the stage. We were in the left can can area, but the two chairs on the most right side so we were right next to the catwalk.
I took my playbill picture with the decor and took everything in.
"Do you love it already?" Melissa asked.
"Lis I can't tell you how happy I am right now. Look at our places and look at the decor it's stunning!"
"I knew you would like it, you like the movie so I thought this was the best place to take you." Melissa said proud of herself.
"Thank you so much Lis, I love you!"
Just when I wanted to say another thing to my best friend, the pre show began.
My mouth fell open from all the beautiful costumes and all the cast that was on stage getting us in the right mood.
Like ten minutes later the music changed and I heard people gasping and some girls where screaming. Melissa took my head and turned it to my right.
The only thing I could say at that moment was: "OMG!"
I was to stunned to speak. I didn't know what to say or to do.
It was when he started walking that I realised what was happening. He came closer and I got more anxious. He knew that I would be here. I told him just before, but why didn't he tell me? Why didn't Melissa tell me?
Melissa laid her hand on my shoulder and whispered "It's gonna be okay." She must have noticed that I was anxious. Aaron walked further down the catwalk, turned around and looked into the audience. At that exact moment we locked eyes. He saw the fear in my eyes and smiled at me. I smiled back at him. Then he raised the sign and the musical really started.
His smile was just calming. I knew he saw me and he knew that I saw him. He looked great in his costume!
The show was amazing! I think my mouth was open for the whole 1st act. Everytime Aaron had the chance he looked my way, at first I smiled but after a while it made me blush. He was so good at what he did out there and his voice was just angelic.
The Elephant Love Medley came to an end. Christian kissed Satine and the lights on stage went out. It was time for intermission.
I didn't notice myself but my mouth was still open.
"Everything okay? Melissa asked laughing a bit. She closed my mouth from under my chin.
"Yeah I'm totally fine." I responded trying to sound as calm as possible.
"I can see that." She laughed a little louder now.
"I'm just... I'm confused Lis. Why didn't he tell me he was the lead in Moulin Rouge? I told him that I was going to see the show tonight."
"I think he wanted to surprise you! Everytime he meets girls and they all know exactly who he is and what he does. Maybe he liked it that it was different with you." Melissa said calmingly.
"Maybe your right. But still he is just a human being like all of us. He's just a handsome guy that happens to be the lead in a Broadway show." I said not really understanding the situation.
"Well I think he likes you, did you see how he looks at you during the show? Every moment that he has the chance, he wants to look at you!"
Ofcourse I saw the way he looked at me during the show it made me blush the whole time. How could I notice it. But it's weird, why was he looking at me?
The lights dimmed and the show began the 2nd act. This act was much more intense than the first one. Backstage Romance was amazing. It didn't take long or my mouth was open again. How did they do this? The choreography, the singing everything was mindblowing. When they got to Chandelier I had to laugh. It was such a good song! And then the transition to Roxanne was incredible. Aaron was incredible. I had tears in my eyes. His voice, his acting, everything was on point. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him during the rest of the 2nd act. Melissa sometimes looked at me and smiled. But I just met the guy this morning. How could all these feelings already be there? I'm sure it was just a crush. Nothing to be scared or worried about.
The 2nd act past by way too fast. Satine died and it was time for the last time 'Come what may'. I cried my eyes out, it was so beautiful. All the feelings that the cast brought into the musical. This was the best musical I had ever seen!
During the encore number everyone stood up and clapped along the music. Melissa and I did the same thing. It was amazing! The connection with the cast when you're in can can is incredible. Next were the bows and the audience went wild. When it was time for Aaron to bow I saw him looking at me. He smiled and I smiled back and I cheered for him. Before walking off stage he said something to me. He asked me to stay a little bit longer and to not go away immediately. He walked away looked a last time at me and smirked.
When everyone stood up to go, I looked at Melissa.
"Did you hear what Aaron said to me?" I asked her. "Why would he ask something like that? Should we really wait?"
"Yes I heard what he said and I think we have to wait. He asked specifically." Melissa said.
Well Lis was right ofcourse we had to wait. I was dying to know why he asked me to stay.
A few minutes later an usher came our way.
"Are you Sophie?" He asked me.
