HARRY x MODEL Y/N facts part.1

Author’s note: HEY GUYS! I know that I’ve been kinda gone lately, but I have reasons for that. My summer vacation ended, and I had to go back to school. We’re still studying online, but I had to take a diagnostic test this past week so they’d know how’s my scholarity level. So, because of all the studying and trying to keep up on a new school (yes, I moved from schools.), I didn’t have any time to write or finish my writings. I’ll try finishing a request today because I’m feeling super creative and nostalgic BUT to everyone who follows HARRYxMODELY/N series, like it and miss it, I just did this ‘’facts-timeline’’ in a hope to feed you guys lol. Anyway, this is like a time line of 2017 and how their relationship developed on that year. I plan on doing one for each year till 2020 and post it on the break between posting the requests. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and maybe discover things about them that you didn’t know yet. Love you all and thank you for the support and love! TPWK and remember that you’re so golden.

The first ever communication between them was on May 12th, 2017(Model Y’N’s 20th birthday) AND the realesing of HS1 album.

She sent a DM to him on instagram congratulating him by saying she loved the album and wished him all the success.

No, they didn’t know each other and she honestly thought that he’d never answer to her.

After a few hours, Harry answered to her message and she freaked out but never answered back because she didn’t want to bother him.

They officialy met on November 28th, 2017 when Harry performed on Victoria Secrets Fashion Show that occured in Shanghai, China.

It was the first time that Model Y/N ever walked for Victoria Secrets.

She walked the Goddesses segment while Harry sang ‘’Only Angel’’.

Harry literally got on his knees when she walked past him.

He likes to describe his emotion at that moment as “mesmerized”.

Even though she knew that VS models and the singers are supposed to flirt a little on stage to create a teasing sensation, she was so surprised by his actions.

After the show was done, Harry wasn’t going to attend the VS after party but decided to attend last minute because he wanted to know her.

He approached her very calmly and gentle and invited her to ‘’hang out’’ with him and his band through Shanghai as he was going to leave on the next day to complete his tour.

She asked Bella to go with her because she didn’t want to hang out with him and his bandmates alone as they didn’t know each other.

But she did felt a huge connection between them almost immidiately.

Through Shanghai, Harry was hitting on her the ENTIRE time! He was complimenting, being super nice, and flirting as well but she honestly thought he was just being nice.

Harry thought for a while that she was playing it hard to get until he realized that she wasn’t.

They spent the whole night going through Shanghai.

They went to Nanjing Road and walked around seeing the lights.

They bought those film cameras and took the funniest pictures ever. They still have those films but never digitalized it to the computer.

They went to all those mini bars and had a few drinks while eating chinese food.

Btw, Harry and Model Y/N LOVE chinese food.

They were on the same hotel.

They didn’t go back yet but plan to do so when quarantine is over.

When it was about 8am, they came back to their hotel.

They both agreed that they would come back to Shanghai one day to go to disneyland.

So Harry went back to his tour and Model Y/N went back to NYC.

On the night out in Shanghai they exchanged numbers because Bella Hadid(Model Y/N’s bff)noticed that Harry was interested on Model Y/N, so she casually told them that they should get each other’s number.

The media was crazy about them. First it was the VS move and then there was tons of paps photos of them out in Shanghai.

The media was trying to sell the story as if they were already dating before the VS, which wasn’t true.

They talked for months as friends because of the number exchange.

They talked via texts, calls and face time all the time but it wasn’t anything more than friendship to her.

Model Y/N and some friends of her was planning on traveling to Ibiza, Spain to celebrate New Year’s Eve and as she and Harry were getting really close to each other she invited him and told him that he could take whoever he wanted.

Of course she thought he was cute and had a small crush but nothing extreme.

Harry did invited her for some of his shows but she couldn’t attend any of it.

That made Harry think that she didn’t like him.

She thought he was going to take a girlfriend.

Harry took Gemma and her boyfriend to the trip with him.

Yes, their whole group of friends were there as well but midia acted like there was only them in it.

They were in Ibiza from December 28th, 2017 to January 3rd, 2018.

The group of friends that was in Ibiza with them included Bella Hadid, Fai Khadra, Imaan Hammam, Grace Elizabeth, Gemma Styles, Machine Gun Kelly, Model Y/N’s brother, etc.

And yes, there were TONS of paps in Ibiza following them because the media was selling the whole ‘’Harry Styles’s new girlfriend’s thing.“

Harry is super private about relationships and Model Y/N had ended a serious relationship early that year so they just didn’t address any rumors because they didn’t care about what the media said.

They “saw” each other as friends and that was what mattered.

It was probably the most random group of friends that she ever traveled with, but it was fun on the same way.

They had a really cool and funny vibe, and it was really easy to everyone to get along.

When fans noticed that Y/N’s friends were following Harry on social media they really thought all the rumors were real.

Their house was really close to the beach, so you could actually see it by Harry’s bedroom barricade.

They usually went to the beach or stayed by the pool during the day and went out at night.

Honestly, they used to come home from the nightlife of Ibiza at 3/4am.

They’d wake up after noon for sure.

Harry wouldn’t eat his breakfast until Model Y/N’s woken up.

He’d cook an avocado toast sandwich to her every morning and wait for her to wake up.

He’d do it because on one of their late night talks, she had told him that she loved it so much.

They’d eat at the barricade while watching the beach.

Model Y/N HAD always been obsessed with Harry’s hair and she’d tell him that he needed to moisturize his hair as they were under the sun all the time.

It was just an excuse to touch his hair.

So they’d exchange it. She’d put oil on his hair, and he’d put on hers.

If they had to go to the beach, Harry would convince her to do the craziest things like fly board flying, going on jetskis together and those things.

He was the only one to convince her to do it because she is TERRIFIED of swimming in the ocean.

They’d all go out for lunch on some restaurants and after going shopping before the sunset.

Harry would always come to her saying like “oh, this would look good in you” whenever he saw a piece of cloth that he liked.

Some fans would post pics of them on social media only making the rumors go hard.

Then one fan would post that met up with them and they said they’re just friends, which was true at that time.

Back at the house, they’d get ready to enjoy the Ibiza nightlife.

They’d dress a little better and go out to some bar or club.

Do you know those videos of Harry dancing in Anguilla? It would be the same vibe. Harry and Model Y/N would vibe so hard to the songs, and dance and shout and sing. It would be really funny.

Model Y/N used to go to his room at 4 am when they came back from the street because they usually sit by the barricade and talked for hours.

They’d talk about all the things that mattered to them, like: career, fashion, music, video, paintings, friends, family, how fame changed their lives.

They’d laugh about all the dating rumors as well, but it would be that type of laugh like “lol I wished it was true.”

They’d tell each other dad jokes and stories about their lives and experiences until the sunrise.

By the afternoon of December 31st, 2017, they were all talking about their new year’s kiss and they decided that Harry and Y/N would be one of the pairs to kiss.

Model Y/N agreed but it was more of a joke to her than a real kiss; she didn’t take it seriously.

They all got ready to celebrate NYE on the beach.

On the next day there were tons of videos of them dancing on the beach and them with fans as well.

When the New Year came, they had their first kiss and of course that changed everything.

Both of them felt sparkles and by the effect of a few drinks that both of them had on that night, they did share some other kisses here and there on that night.

For a miracle, no one captured them kissing on camera.

New Orleans Square- Peter Parker x Reader (Requested)

Prompt by @cyrusandhiscollaredahirts: Reader is a Disney fanatic and they get lost in New Orleans Square as they look for food. The reader helps him and they end up falling in love.

A/N: I actually am a HUGE Disney fan myself and the last time I was at Disneyland was for my 21st birthday. My Mom went with me and we had dinner at NOS so this was a fun one to write!

Going to Disneyland was supposed to be fun but it turned out to be a disaster! You were with your school for a class trip but you were miserable. You managed to forget to wear sunscreen so your skin was burning as you stood in line for rides. Of course, all the lines were unbelievably long and you hated standing around, waiting. Then, a little boy had a complete meltdown in front of you and his anger, he kicked you as hard as he could in your leg. You ended up hobbling around for a while until you couldn’t stand it. You begged to be seen by a doctor or someone who could help with the pain.

“Alright, alright, y/n, we’ll ask someone to see if there is any place here that help with your leg.” Your teacher said, growing frustrated with your constant whining.

Finding a worker, they point you into the direction of the nearest medical facility that dealt with minor injuries in the park. Walking into the office with your friend, you grew annoyed with the Mikey Mouse emblems that littered the whole room.

That stupid grin. You thought to yourself as you hoped up on an examining table.

“Okay Miss Y/L/N, let’s take a look at your leg here.” A doctor (if you could even call him that) said, grabbing your leg and hoisting it up on his knee to get a better look at the injury.

“Ah well, you got a nasty gash there. How did this happen again?” The doctor asked.

“Some stupid kid kicked me.” You say, rolling your eyes at the memory.

“Well, he must’ve hit you with something harder than his foot because he cut you deep.”

“Oh great.” You say sarcastically.

“Don’t worry, I’ll just clean it up, stitch you up, and you’ll be good to go.”

You hiss as the alcohol hits your open wound and squirm in pain as the needle would push into your skin and out to sow you up. Once he was done, the doctor wrapped your leg with white gauze to keep any bleeding from spilling out of the stitches.

“There, good as new.” He helped you stand and gave you some ibuprofen for the pain.

“Go see your doctor when you get home but you should be good until then.”

“Thank you, Doc.” Your friend said, nodding at him as you left the office.

“Well, this has been quite the trip, eh?” She said, nudging you slightly.

“Tell me about it. I just want one good thing to come from this lame excuse of a vacation.”

As you joined up with the rest of your school, they were wandering around for a place to eat. Walking into New Orleans Square, you noticed a young man, around your age, wandering around like he was lost. You kept your gaze on him, focusing on whatever he was doing and then it hit you. You had seen him before and you felt your heart race; Peter Parker. He was the single most popular student in all of Queens, as the star student of the Midtown School of Science and Technology. He was smart, considering he landed an internship with Stark Industries a few years ago, which landed him his popularity. Someone like him would never notice someone like you but you figured that was back in Queens. This is Disneyland, ‘where dreams come true’ right?

You split from your class and heading over to where he was but he wasn’t paying attention to you. You clear your throat and he whipped around to look at you.

“H-hey, are you okay? You look lost.” You spoke, afraid of speaking to him but he just grinned at you.

“I am. I was with some….friends, but we got separated.”

“Well, I’m here with my class so I think you can join us if you’d like.”

“Thank you. I think that would be cool. I’m Peter.” He extended his hand to you and took it.

“I’m Y/N.” You shook his hand and he gave you a look. “Y/N? From the Collingswood School of Performing Arts?” He asked.

“Yes. How did you know that?” You ask.

“Oh, I uh, my school has helped set up a show at your school.” He stuttered over his words, which seemed odd to you.

“Oh, and was I there?”

“Yeah, it was a dance competition and you were one of the contestants. I uh, stopped helping the setup and saw you. You were really good.”

“Thank you. Didn’t think you’d ever notice me.”

“You were hard to miss.” He said causing your cheeks to brighten red.

“Hey, Y/L/N!” Your teacher called and you rushed back to the group, Peter close behind.

“Can we eat here? We’ve been walking around for half-an-hour looking for something to eat and we’re all getting tired!” One of your classmates said as everyone cheered in agreement.

“Fine, we’ll eat here.” Your teacher led the class inside a restaurant; The Blue Bayou.

“Oh, I love this place! It’s like you’re sitting right in New Orleans and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride goes right through here!” Peter exclaimed to you as he dashed inside. You laughed seeing him act childish.

When your host escorted you to your table, the class oo’d and aww’d at the scenery, however, Peter had another idea.

“Come with me.” He whispered to you before he walked off. You looked at your friend, who just motioned for you to go with him.

You soon began to panic, as you couldn’t find where Peter had gone. You looked all over the restaurant, back to the front doorway and outside but no Peter. Just then, someone tapped you on your shoulder, it was Mickey Mouse!

“Mickey!” You shout, wrapping your arms around the character.

He looked at you and extended his white-gloved hand for you and you took it. He led you to a hidden location, up a narrow hallway and stairs, up above the restaurant. You were confused and assumed he was a serial killer hiding in a Mickey Mouse costume, but all your fears melted away when you saw Peter, standing next to a table.

“Thanks for your help, Mikey.” He said, fist-bumping the mouse before he headed back the way you had come.

“What are we doing up here?” You asked as Peter took your hand once again and brought you closer to him.

“Well, I heard from your friend that you weren’t having a good trip, so I spoke with the staff of the restaurant and asked if it were possible for us to have dinner up here. They agreed and here we are.”

“Peter, this is…this is unreal. But why me? Why bring me up here? I thought you like MJ.” You heard rumors that Peter and MJ were an item; gossip spreads fast in Queens. Why would he be into you; he hardly knew you.

“Oh no, MJ and I are just friends. I told her I was really into this one cute girl from Collingswood and I wanted to get to know her better. Luckily, I happened to run into her at the happiest place in the world, and I get to be romantic with her like I’ve always wanted to. I just hope she lets me treat her to a magical night.”

You couldn’t find the words to say, so you just threw your arms around Peter’s neck, holding him close.

“I like you, Y/N, so much.” He says as he helps you settle into your seat. “Please order whatever you’d like; it’s on me.”

“I can’t let you pay for all this, Pete.”

“Eh, sure you can. Plus, I already paid ahead of time so you can’t argue with me.” He smirked at you but you went along with it.

After you two ate, he stood up and offered his hand again.

“Boy, you surely do that a lot, don’t you?” You joke, looking at his hand.

“Do you trust me?”

You nod your head and put your hand in his as he quickly pulls you to him.

“Hi.” He smiles and starts swaying to the music with you.

“Pete, I’m not dressed for this.” You looked down at your shorts and tank-top combo; not the best choice for dancing.

“Nonsense. I got you. Just follow my lead.”

The music to one of your favorite songs as a kid began playing; from a Disney movie nonetheless.

You felt your cheeks heat up as Peter orchestrated the dance from High School Musical 3. It was super cheesy but you didn’t care. You were here with Peter and the rest of the world melted away.

The music faded away and it was eerily quiet as Peter captured your chin and pulled you in for a kiss; the entire restaurant erupting into applause and cheers.

“Will you be my girlfriend?” He asked, pressing his forehead to yours, eyes boring into yours.

“Yes, please. A million times, yes.” You kissed him again before grabbing your things and heading back down with the rest of your class.

Your friend squeals and hugs you before saying quietly, “I knew this trip would get better for you.”

“But I never expected this!”

“I did.” She says.

“You knew about this?” You ask your friend, to which she just nods.

“I caught him watching you at the dance competition a few months back, knew he liked you and helped him plan this whole thing.”

“Ah, I love you!” You hug your friend before you take your place back at Peter’s side, fingers intertwining with his.

“I can’t wait to get home and show you off to May and Ned and MJ and Mr. Stark!” He beamed as he spoke and you couldn’t help but be excited to go home too.

Are there any hobbies you have that you don’t perform in front of others? I like to do stuff like surveys, reading, coloring, scrolling through Tumblr, and watching YouTube videos by myself.

What’s one bad or inconvenient habit you used to have but no longer do? I can’t think of a bad habit I used to have, I still have plenty of them.

Do you find it difficult to kick a habit or a routine that’s detrimental? Yes.

When was the last time you had a particularly hectic day? My Disneyland vacation last year. I love Disneyland and had a good time, but the traveling part and spending all day at the park going all over the place is quite exhausting for me. That’s a lot of activity for me. Not to mention all. the. people.

Where’s one place you’ve spent a lot of time lately? I spend like all my time at home except for my once a month doctor appointment.

Is there anywhere you wish you could spend more time? I wish I could go on more vacations.

What do you do when you simply don’t know what to do? There are definitely days where I’m just really bored and my usual go-tos don’t cut it for me and the day just seems to draaag, but I end up still doing those things or mindlessly watching TV cause I don’t know what else to do. Or just take a nap.

When was the last time you felt you were in an impossible situation where, despite what you did, you couldn’t win? I’ve felt that way these past few years with health related things and other stuff in my life.

How did you find out about your current favorite band? I don’t have like a new current favorite.

Where are you most likely to go when you need clothing? Majority of my clothes are from Boxlunch and Hot Topic.

Is anything significant weighing on your mood right now? The usual stuff.

When was the last time you tried to do something yet failed? I feel like I’m just failing at life in general.

Do you think your life is comprised more of success or failure? Failure.

What’s one personality trait that’s not strong in you? Ambition.

Are you a difficult individual to get to know? I wouldn’t have said that a few years ago, but I would now. Well, unless you’re a follower of my surveys. I’m definitely not this open in person. Not that I was before, but what I think would make it more difficult now is the fact that I’m just so distant and withdrawn and have really just kept to myself the past few years. I’ve holed up at home and haven’t had an interest in socializing.

To whom do you feel the most important? My parents and brother.

When was the last time you changed your mind? Hm. It was probably recently, but I don’t remember right now.

Do you tend to enjoy your dreams? My dreams are just super random and weird a lot of the time.

What would you do if you did not require sleep? Gah. I’m glad we do cause I have no idea. There are days that just seem to drag and I want it to end and sleep is a great escape and passerby, so yeah I’m glad we require sleep. I need that time to escape myself and stuff for awhile.

Are there any projects or goals you’ve recently abandoned? I did that a few years ago and still haven’t gotten back on track.

What in life serves to keep you going? My family.

How frequently, if ever, do you want to give up? I feel that way often.

What was the last good news you received? Uhhh.

What’re some of the important things around you? My family, which includes my doggo.

In what ways does music influence your life? It doesn’t, really. Especially lately. I don’t listen to music much anymore like I used to. It’s weird.

Are you more inclined to appreciate sweet or savory foods? Savory. Lately I’ve had a serious sweet tooth, though. I’ve been eating sweet stuff a lot more often recently.

Review: The iPhone 11 Pro does Disneyland after dark

Let’s get this out of the way right up front: iPhone 11’s Night Mode is great. It works, it compares extremely well to other low-light cameras and the exposure and color rendition is best in class, period.

If that does it for you, you can stop right here. If you want to know more about the iPhone 11, augmented photography and how they performed on a trip to the edge of a galaxy far, far away, read on.

As you’re probably now gathering, yes, I took the new iPhones to Disneyland again. If you’ve read my other reviews from the parks, you’ll know that I do this because they’re they ideal real-world test bed for a variety of capabilities. Lots of people vacation with iPhones.

The parks are hot and the network is crushed. Your phone has to act as your ticket, your food ordering tool, your camera and your map. Not to mention your communication device with friends and family. It’s a demanding environment, plain and simple. And, I feel, a better organic test of how these devices fare than sitting them on a desk in an office and running benchmark tools until they go dead.

I typically test iPhones by using one or two main devices and comparing them with the ones they’re replacing. I’m not all that interested in having the Android vs. iPhone debate because I feel that it’s a bit of a straw man given that platform lock-in means that fewer and fewer people over time are making a truly agnostic platform choice. They’re deciding based on heredity or services (or price). I know this riles the zealots in both camps, but most people just don’t have the luxury of being religious about these kinds of things.

Given the similarities in models, (more on that later) I mainly used the iPhone 11 Pro for my testing, with tests of the iPhone 11 where appropriate. I used the iPhone XS as a reference device. Despite my lack of a desire to do a platform comparison, for this year’s test, given that much discussion has been had about how Google pulled off a coup with the Pixel 3’s Night Sight mode, I brought along one of those as well.

I tried to use the iPhone XS only to compare when comparisons were helpful and to otherwise push the iPhone 11 Pro to handle the full load each day. But, before I could hit the parks, I had to set up my new devices.

Setup

Much of the iPhone 11 Pro’s setup process has remained the same over the years, but Apple has added one new feature worth mentioning: Direct Transfer. This option during setup sits, philosophically, between restoring from a backup made on a local Mac and restoring from an iCloud backup.

Direct Transfer is designed to help users transfer their information directly from one device to another using a direct peer-to-peer connection between the two devices. Specifically, it uses Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL), which also powers AirDrop and AirPlay. The transfer is initiated using a particle cloud link similar to the one you see setting up Apple Watch. Once it’s initiated, your old iPhone and new iPhone will be out of commission for up to 2-3 hours depending on how much information you’re transferring.

The data is encrypted in transit. Information directly transferred includes Messages history, full resolution photos that are already stored on your phone and any app data attached to installed apps. The apps themselves are not transferred because Apple’s app signing procedure locks apps to a device, so they must be (automatically) re-dowloaded from the App Store, a process that begins once the Direct Transfer is complete. This also ensures that you’re getting the appropriate version of the app.

Once you’ve done the transfer, the data on your phone is then “rationalized” with iCloud. This helps in cases where you have multiple devices and one of those other devices could have been making changes in the cloud that now need to be updated on the device.

Apple noted that Direct Transfer is good for a few kinds of people:

People without an iCloud backup

People who have not backed up in a while

People in countries where internet speeds are not broadly strong, like China

People who don’t mind waiting longer initially for a ‘more complete’ restore

Basically what you’ve got here is a choice between having your iPhone ‘ready’ immediately for basic functionality (iCloud backup restore) and waiting a bit longer to have far more of your personal data accessible from the start, without waiting for iCloud downloads of original photos, Messages history etc.

Direct Transfer also does not transfer Face ID or Touch ID settings, Apple Pay information or Mail Data aside from usernames and passwords.

After iPhone Migration is complete the Messages content from the device will be reconciled the Messages content in iCloud to ensure they are in sync. The same is true for Photos stored in iCloud.

Anecdotally, I experienced a couple of interesting things during my use of Direct Transfer. My first phone took around 2.5 hours to complete, but I still found that the messages archive alerted me that it needed to continue downloading archived messages in the background. Apple suggested that this may be due to this rationalizing process.

I also noticed that when simultaneous Direct Transfer operations were active, side-by-side devices took much longer to complete. This is very likely due to local radio interference. Apple has a solution to that. There is a wired version of the Direct Transfer option using the Camera Connection Kit with a source device and connecting them via USB. Ideally, Apple says, the transfer speeds are identical, but of course the wired option side-steps the wireless interference problem entirely — which is why Apple will be using it for in-store device restores for new iPhones using the Direct Transfer option.

My experience with Direct Transfer wasn’t glitch free, but it was nice having what felt like a ‘more complete’ device from the get go. Of note, Direct Transfer does not appear to transfer all keychain data intact, so you will have to re-enter some passwords.

Design and Display

I’ve been naked for years. That is, team no case. Cases are annoying to me because of the added bulk. They’re also usually too slippery or too sticky. I often wear technical clothing too and the phones go into slots designed for quick in out or fun party trick things like dropping into your hand with the pull of a clasp. This becomes impossible with most cases.

Apple provided the clear cases for all three iPhones, and I used them to keep them looking decent while I reviewed them, but I guarantee you my personal will never see a case.

I’m happy to report that the iPhone 11 Pro’s matte finish back increases the grippyness of the phone on its own. The smooth back of the iPhone 11 and the iPhone XS always required a bit of finger oil to get into a condition where you could reliably pivot them with one hand going in and out of a pocket.

Traveling through the parks you get sweaty (in the summer), greasy with that Plaza fried chicken and turkey legs and all kinds of kid-related spills. Having the confidence of a case while you’re in these fraught conditions is something I can totally understand. But day-to-day it’s not my favorite.

I do like the unified design identity across the line of making the bump surface blasted glass on the iPhone 11 with a glossy back and then flipping those on the iPhone 11 Pro. It provides a design language link even though the color schemes are different.

At this point either you’ve bought into the camera bump being functional cool or you hate its guts. Adding another camera is not going to do much to change the opinion of either camp. The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max have a distinctly Splinter Cell vibe about them now. I’m sure you’ve seen the jokes about iPhones getting more and more cameras, well, yeah, that’s not a joke.

I think that Apple’s implementation feels about the best it could be here. The iPhone 11 Pro is already thicker than the previous generation, but there’s no way it’s going to get thick enough to swallow a bump this high. I know you might think you want that too, but you don’t.

Apple gave most reviewers the Deep Green iPhone 11 Pro/Max and the minty Green iPhone 11. If I’m being honest, I prefer the mint. Lighter and brighter is just my style. In a perfect world, I’d be able to rock a lavender iPhone 11 Pro. Alas, this is not the way Apple went.

The story behind the Deep Green, as it was explained to me, begins with Apple’s colorists calling this as a color set to break out over the next year. The fashion industry concurs, to a degree. Mint, seafoam and ‘neon’ greens which were hot early in the year have given way to sage, crocodile and moss. Apple’s Deep Green is also a dark, muted color that Apple says is ideal to give off that Pro vibe.

The green looks nearly nothing like any of the photographs I’ve seen of it on Apple’s site.

In person, the Deep Green is reads as dark grey in anything but the most direct indoor light. Outdoors, the treated stainless band has an “80’s Mall Green” hue that I actually really like. The back also opens up quite a bit, presenting as far more forest green than it does inside. Overall, though, this is a very muted color that is pretty buttoned up. It sits comfortably alongside neutral-to-staid colors like the Space Gray, Silver and Gold.

The Silver option is likely to be my personal pick this time around just because the frosted white back looks so hot. The first time I won’t have gone gray or black in a while.

Apple’s new super retina display has a 2M:1 contrast ratio and displays up to 1200 nits in HDR content and 800 in non-HDR. What does this mean out in the sun at the park? Not a whole lot, but the screen is slightly easier to read and see detail on while in sunny conditions. The “extended” portion of Apple’s new XDR screen terminology on the iPhone 11 Pro is due to lux, a luminance metric, not a color metric, so the color gamut remains the same. However, I have noticed that HDR images look slightly flatter on the iPhone XS than they do on the iPhone 11 Pro. The iPhone 11’s screen, while decent, does not compare to the rich blacks and great contrast range of the iPhone 11 Pro. It’s one of two major reasons to upgrade.

Apple’s proprietary 3D touch system has gone the way of the dodo with the iPhone 11. The reasoning behind this was that they realized that they would never be able to ship the system economically or viably on the iPad models. So they canned it in favor of haptic touch, bringing more consistency across the lineup.

By and large it works fine. It’s a little odd for 3D touch users at first. You retain peek and quick actions but lose pop, for instance, because there’s no additional level of pressure threshold. Most of the actions that you probably commonly use 3D touch for, like the camera or flashlight or home screen app shortcuts work just fine.

I was bullish on 3D touch because I felt there was an opportunity to add an additional layer of context for power users — a hover layer for touch. Unfortunately I believe that there were people at Apple (and outside of it) that were never convinced that the feature was going to be discoverable or useful enough so it never got the investment that it needed to succeed. Or, and I will concede this is a strong possibility, they were right and I was wrong and this just was never going to work.

Performance and Battery

Apple’s A13 Bionic features efficiency cores that are 20% faster and use 40% less power than the A12 bionic — part of where some impressive battery life improvements come from. Its overall clock speed and benchmarks are up around 20% overall. The performance cores also use 30% less power and the GPU uses 40% less power. The Neural Engine doesn’t escape either and uses 15% lower power. All compared to the iPhone XS.

My focus there on the cores power usage is not to say this feels any less juicy, but all new iPhones feel great out of the box because Apple (usually) works to neatly match power requirements with its hardware. And any previous generation software is going to have plenty of overhead out of the box. No change here.

The biggest direct effect that this silicon work will have on most people’s lives will likely be battery life.

The iPhone 11 Pro has a larger battery than the iPhone XS, with a different higher voltage chemistry. That, coupled with power savings improvements mentioned above, along with more in the screen and other components means better battery life.

My battery tests over several days at the parks point to Apple’s claims about improvements over the iPhone XS being nearly dead on. Apple claims that the iPhone 11 Pro lasts 4 hours longer then the iPhone XS. The iPhone XS came in at roughly 9.5 hours in tests last year and the iPhone 11 Pro came in nearly bang on at 12 hours — in extremely challenging conditions.

It was hot, the networks were congested and I was testing every feature of the camera and phone I could get my hands on. Disneyland has some WiFi in areas of the park, but the coverage is not total, so I relied on LTE for the majority of my usage. This included on-device processing of photos and video (of which I shot around 40 minutes or so each day). It also included using Disney’s frustrating park app, about which I could write a lot of complaints.

I ordered food, browsed twitter while in lines, let the kids watch videos while the wife and I had a necessary glass of wine or six and messaged continuously with family and team members. The battery lasted significantly longer on the iPhone 11 Pro with intense usage than the iPhone XS, which juuuust edged out my iPhone X in last year’s tests.

One of the reasons that I clone my current device and run it that way instead of creating some sort of artificially empty test device is that I believe that is the way that most people will be experiencing the phone. Only weirdos like device testers and Marie Kondo acolytes are likely to completely wipe their devices and start fresh on purchase of a new iPhone.

I’m pretty confident you’ll see an improvement in the battery as well. I’ve done this a lot and these kinds of real world tests at theme parks tend to put more of the kind of strains you’ll see in daily life on the phone than a bench test running an artificial web browsing routine is. On the other hand, maybe you’re a worker at a bot farm and I’ve just touched a nerve. If so, I am sorry.

Also, an 18W power adapter, the same one that ships with iPad Pro, comes in the box. Finally, etc. It is very nice having the majority of my cables have at least one end that is USB-C now because I can use multi-port GaN chargers from Anker and power bricks that have USB-C. Apple’s USB-C lightning cables are slightly thicker gauge now, and support data transfer as well as the 18W brick. The bigger charger means faster charging, Apple claims up to 50% charge in 30 minutes with the new charger, which feels about like what I experienced.

It’s quicker, much nicer to top off while nursing a drink and a meatball at the relatively secret upstairs bar at the Wine Country Trattoria in DCA. There’s an outlet behind the counter just ask to use it.

Oh, about that improved FaceID angle — I saw, maybe, a sliiiiiiight improvement, if any. But not that much. A few degrees? Sometimes? Hard to say. I will be interested to see what other reviewers found. Maybe my face sucks.

Camera and Photography

Once upon a time you could relatively easily chart the path of a photograph’s creation. Light passed through the lens of your camera onto a medium like film or chemically treated paper. A development process was applied, a print was made and you had a photograph.

When the iPhone 8 was released I made a lot of noise about how it was the first of a new wave of augmented photography. That journey continues with the iPhone 11. The ISP that normally takes on the computational tasks associated with color correction and making images look presentable from the raw material the sensor produces. Apple has added the Neural Engines’s machine learning expertise to the pipeline and it’s doing a bunch of things in various modes.

Deep Fusion shoots 9 images, it pre shoots 4 long and 4 short exposure images into a buffer. Then when you press the shutter button it takes a longer exposure. Then the neural engine and ISP combine these on a pixel by pixel basis into your image.

This is what makes the camera augmented on the iPhone 11, and what delivers the most impressive gains of this generation, not new glass, not the new sensors — a processor specially made to perform machine learning tasks.

What we’re seeing in the iPhone 11 is a blended apparatus that happens to include 3 imaging sensors, 3 lenses, a scattering of motion sensors, an ISP, a machine learning tuned chip and a CPU all working in concert to produce 1 image. This is a machine learning camera. But as far as the software that runs iPhone is concerned, It has one camera. In fact, it’s not really a camera at all, it’s a collection of devices and bits of software that work together towards a singular goal: producing an image.

This way of thinking about imaging affects a bunch of features from night mode to HDR and beyond, and the result is the best camera I’ve ever used on a phone.

But first, let’s talk new lenses.

Ultra Wide

Both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro get a new “ultra wide angle” lens that Apple is calling a 13mm. In practice it delivers about what you’d expect from a roughly 13mm lens on a full-frame SLR — very wide. Even with edge correction it has the natural and expected effect of elongating subjects up close and producing some dynamic images. At a distance, it provides options for vistas and panoramic images that weren’t available before. Up close, it does wonders for group shots and family photos, especially in tight quarters where you’re backed up against a wall.

In my testing of the wide angle, it showed off extremely well especially in bright conditions. It allowed for great close up family shots, wide angle portraits that emphasized dynamism and vistas that really opened up possibilities for shooting that haven’t been on iPhone before.

One clever detail here is that when you shoot at 1x or 2x, Apple blends the live view of the wider angle lenses directly into the viewfinder. They don’t just show you the wide with crop marks over it, they are piping in actual feeds from the sensor so that you get a precise idea of how the image might look, while still letting you see that you have other options outside of the frame. It’s the camera viewfinder engineer version of stunting.

I loved shooting people with it up close, but that won’t be for everyone. I’d guess most people will like it for groups and for landscapes. But I found it great to grab fun tight shots of people or really intimate moments that feel so much more personal when you’re in close.

Of note, the ultra wide lens does not have optical image stabilization on either the iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro. This makes it a much trickier proposition to use in low light or at night.

The ultra wide camera cannot be used with night mode because its sensor does not have 100% focus pixels and, of course, no OIS. The result is that wide angle night shots must be held very steady or soft images will result.

The ultra wide coming to both phones is great. It’s a wonderful addition and I think people will get a ton of use out of it on the iPhone 11. If they had to add one, I think adding the UW was the better option because of group shots of people are likely far more common than landscape photographers.

The ultra wide is also fantastic for video. Because of the natural inward crop of video (it uses less of the sensor, so it feels more cramped), the standard wide lens has always felt a little claustrophobic. Taking videos on the carousel riding along with Mary Poppins, for instance, I was unable to get her and Burt in frame at once with the iPhone XS, but was able to with the iPhone 11 Pro. Riding Matterhorn you get much more of the experience and less ‘person’s head in front of you’. Same goes with Cars where the ride is so dominated by the wind screen. I know these are very specific examples, but you can imagine how similar scenarios could play out at family gatherings in small yards, indoors or in other cramped locations.

One additional tidbit about the ultra wide: you may very well have to find a new grip for your phone. The lens is so wide that your finger may show up in some of your shots because your knuckle is in frame. It happened to me a bunch over the course of a few days until I found a grip lower on the phone. iPhone 11 Pro Max users will probably not have to worry.

HDR and Portrait Improvements

Because of those changes to the image pathway I talked about earlier, the already solid HDR images get a solid improvement in portrait mode. The Neural Engine works on all HDR images coming out of the cameras in iPhone to tone map and fuse image data from various physical sensors together to make a photo. It could use pixels from one camera for highlight detail and pixels from another for the edges of a frame. I went over this system extensively back in 2016 and its only gotten more sophisticated since with the addition of the Neural Engine.

It seems to be getting another big leap forward when Deep Fusion launches, but I was unable to test that yet.

For now, we can see additional work that the Neural Engine puts in with Semantic Rendering. This process involves your iPhone doing facial detection on the subject of a portrait, isolating the face and skin from the rest of the scene and applying a different path of HDR processing on it than on the rest of the image. The rest of the image gets its own HDR treatment and then the two images are fused back together.

This is not unheard of in image processing. Most photographers worth their salt will give faces a different pass of adjustments from the rest of an image, masking off the face so that it doesn’t turn out too flat or too contrasty or come out with the wrong skin tones.

The difference here, of course, is that it happens automatically, on every portrait, in fractions of a second.

The results are portraits that look even better on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. Faces don’t have the artificially flat look they could sometimes get with the iPhone XS — a result of the HDR process that is used to open up shadows and normalize the contrast of an image.

Look at these two portraits, shot at the same time in the same conditions. The iPhone 11 Pro is far more successful at identifying backlight and correcting for it across the face and head. The result is better contrast ant color, hands down. And this was not an isolated experience, I shot many portrait shots side by side and the iPhone 11 Pro was the pick every time. With especially wide margins if the subject was back lit, which is very common with portraiture.

Here’s another pair, the differences are more subtle here but look at the color balance between the two. The skin tones are warmer, more olive and (you’ll have to trust me on this one) truer to life on the iPhone 11 Pro.

And yes, the High Key Mono works, but is still not perfect.

Night Mode

Now for the big one. The iPhone 11 finally has a Night Mode. Though I wouldn’t really call it a mode because it doesn’t actually require that you enable it, it just kicks in automatically when it thinks it can help.

On a technical level, Night Mode is a function of the camera system that strongly resembles HDR. It does several things when it senses that the light levels have fallen below a certain threshold.

It decides on a variable number of frames to capture based on the light level, the steadiness of the camera according to the accelerometer and other signals.

The ISP then grabs these bracketed shots, some longer, some shorter exposure.

The Neural Engine is relatively orthogonal to Night Mode working, but it’s still involved because it is used for semantic rendering across all HDR imaging in iPhone 11.

The ISP then works to fuse those shots based on foreground and background exposure and whatever masking the Neural Engine delivers.

The result is a shot that brightens dark-to-very-dark scenes well enough to change them from throw away images to something well worth keeping. In my experience, it was actually difficult to find scenes dark enough to make the effect intense enough. The new 33% improvement in ISO in the wide camera and 42% improvement on telephoto on iPhone XS already help a lot.

But once you do find the right scene, you see detail and shadow pop and it becomes immediately evident even before you press the shutter that it is making it dramatically brighter. Night Mode works only in 1x and 2x shooting modes because only those cameras have the 100% focus pixels needed to do the detection and mapping that the iPhone 11 needs to make the effect viable.

I have this weird litmus test I put every new phone camera through where I take it on a dark ride, like Winnie the Pooh, to see if I can get any truly sharp usable image. It’s a great test because the black light is usually on, the car is moving and the subject is moving. Up until this point I have succeeded exactly zero times. But the iPhone 11 Pro pulled it off. Not perfect, but pretty incredible all things considered.

A few observations about Night Mode:

The night images still feel like night time. This is the direct result of Apple making a decision not to open every shadow and brighten every corner of an image, flaring saturation and flattening contrast.

The images feel like they have the same genetic makeup as an identical photo taken without night mode. They’re just clearer and the subject is brighter.

Because of the semantic mapping working on the image, along with other subject detection work, the focal point of the image should be clearer/brighter, but the setting and scene does not all come up at once like a broad gain adjustment.

iPhone 11, like many other ‘night modes’ across phones, has issues with moving subjects. It’s best if no one is moving or they are moving only very slightly. This can vary depending on the length of exposure from 1-3 seconds.

On a tripod or another stationary object, Night Mode will automatically extend up to a 10 second exposure. This allows for some great night photography effects like light painting or trailing.

The result is naturally bright images that retain a fantastic level of detail while still feeling like they have natural color that is connected to the original subject matter.

Back when the Pixel 3 shipped Night Sight I noted that choosing a gain-based night mode had consequences, and that Apple likely could ship something based on pure amperage but that it had consistently made choices to do otherwise and would likely do so for whatever it shipped. People really hated this idea, but it holds up exactly.

Though the Galaxy 10+ has a great night mode as well, the Pixel 3 was the pioneer here and still jumps to mind when judging night shots. The choices Google has made here are much more in the realm of ‘everything brighter’. If you love it, you love it, and that’s fine. But it is absolutely not approaching this from a place of restraint.

Here are some examples of the iPhone 11 Pro up against images from the Pixel 3. As you can see, both do solid work brightening the image, but the Pixel 3 is colder, flatter and more evenly brightened. The colors are not representative at all.

In addition, whatever juice Google is using to get these images out of a single camera and sensor, it suffers enormously on a detail level. You can see the differences here in the rock work and towers. It’s definitely better than having a dark image, but it’s clear that the iPhone 11 Pro is a jump forward.

The Pixel 4 is around the corner, of course, and I can’t wait to see what improvements Google comes up with. We are truly in a golden age for taking pictures of dark shit with phone cameras.

Of note, the flash is now 36% brighter than the iPhone XS, which is a nice fallback for moving subjects.

Auto crop

The iPhone 11 will, by default, auto crop subjects back into your videos shot at 1x or 2x. If you’re chasing your kid and his head goes out of frame, you could see an auto button on the 1 up review screen after a bit of processing. Tapping this will re-frame your video automatically. Currently this only works with the QuickTake function directly from the iPhone’s lock screen. It can be toggled off.

You can toggle on auto cropping for photos in the Camera settings menu if you wish, it is off by default. This has a very similar effect. It’s using image analysis to see if it has image data that it can use to re-center your subject.

Yeah, they’re fun, yeah, they work. They’re going to be popular for folks with long hair.

Apple has included a U1 chip in the iPhone 11 – can’t test it but it’s interesting as hell. Probably best to reserve talking about this extensively for a bit as Apple will ship the U1’s first iPhone functionality with a directional…AirDrop feature? This is definitely one of those things where future purposes, tile-like locator perhaps, were delayed for some reason and a side project of the AirDrop team got elevated to first ship. Interestingly, Apple mentioned, purely as an example, that this feature could be used to start car ignitions given the appropriate manufacturer support.

If this sounds familiar, then you’ve probably read anything I’ve written over the last several years. It’s inevitable that iPhones and Apple Watches begin to take on functionality like this, it’s just a matter of how to do it precisely and safely. The U1 has a lot to do with location on a micro-level. It’s not broad, network based or GPS based location, it’s precise location and orientation. That opens up a bunch of interesting possibilities.

About that Pro

And then there was the name. iPhone 11 Pro. When I worked at a camera shop, you learned the power of the word “pro”. For some people it was an aphrodisiac, for others, a turn off. And for others, it was simply a necessity.

Is this the pro model? Oh I’m not a pro. Oooh, this is the pro!

We used it as a sales tool, for sure. But every so often it was also necessary to use it to help prevent people from over-buying or under-buying for their needs.

In the film days one of the worst things you could ever shoot as a pro-am photographer was gym sports. It was fast action, inside where it’s comparatively dim, and at a distance from court-side. There was no cheap way to do it. No cranking the ISO to 64,000 and letting your camera’s computer clean it up. You had to get expensive glass, an expensive camera body to operate that glass and an expensive support like a monopod. You also had to not be a dumbass (this was the most expensive part).

Amateurs always balked at the barrier of entry to shooting in these kinds of scenarios. But the real pros knew that for every extra dollar they spent on the good stuff, they’d make it up ten fold in profits because they could deliver product no parent with a point and shoot could hope to replicate.

However, the vast majority of people that walked into the shop weren’t shooting hockey or wrestling. They were taking family photos, outdoor pics and a few sunsets.

Which brings us to what the term Pro means now: Pro is about edge cases.

It’s not about the 80% case, it’s about the 20% of people that need or want something more out of their equipment.

For this reason, the iPhone 11 is going to sell really well. And it should because it’s great. It has the best new lens, an ultra wide that takes great family photos and landscape shots. It has nearly every software feature of iPhone 11 Pro. But it doesn’t have the best screen and it doesn’t have telephoto. For people that want to address edge cases – the best video and photo options, a better dark mode experience, a brighter screen — the iPhone 11 Pro is there — for everyone else, there’s still fiscal 2020’s best selling iPhone.

Adventures in Hong Kong: Day 3 - Disneyland

DAY 3: October 29, 2018

Third day in Hong Kong was spent in the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland! This was on the top on my list that I’ve been looking forward to visit since I was a child. Who wouldn’t be excited to experience a magical day in this place, right?

I’ve been a Disney girl ever since I can remember watching cartoons. I love each and every movies, and shows that Disney created, especially when a Disney princess was included.

Visiting Disneyland made my inner child out again and explore the magical world of Disney. That inner child where you weren’t scared to try new things, curious about everything, and is brave enough to make it happen.

We rode the MTR going to Disneyland since it was convenient, fast, and cheaper.

To go to there, take the Tsuen Wan Line (Red Line) to Lai King station, get off the train, and change train at Lai King Platform 3 towards Tung Chung (Orange Line). Get off at Sunny Bay Station and interchange at Sunny Bay Platform 3 towards Disneyland, then board the train to Disneyland Resort (Pink Line), and get off at Disneyland Resort station. Afterwards, just walk towards the Disneyland entrance.

The train especially for going to Disneyland was so cuuute! Everything was shaped like Mickey, it’s like spot the hidden Mickey.. except it isn’t hidden! 😅 🤣 Also, the seats were comfy since it was like those car seats.

I’ll be sharing the photos I took during my trip there, so better expect that this post will be photo-heavy, meaning a lot of photos coming up! It will be like a virtual tour of HK Disneyland. Some photos are put together to lessen the photos, but some weren’t since I feel it is better to have it with its original size. On top of that, I’ll post my vlog below about Disneyland for you to further see what happens in the park.

Here’s what you will see upon getting of the Disneyland Resort station, a welcoming sign to Disneyland.

After a walking a few minutes, you would be greeted a fountain with Mickey on top! The Mickey statue was actually going up and down, like surfing on the top of the Whale.

We bought our tickets via Klook again. Our experience with Klook was great. We just exchanged the vouchers for the tickets, and went inside. No need to fall in line just to get in.

Decorations during this time was for Halloween since it was October. The theme was Nightmare Before Christmas.

Of course, a photo with any Mickey on it was a must during the Disneyland trip!

I love what was written above, “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.” It just like telling to leave the present for now, and enjoy a world full of magic for now.

Each store has Disney memorabilia and souvenirs you can purchase.

We were able to witness a band playing. During that time, it feels that I was indeed in another world and away from reality.

The bakery was so lovable and aesthetics was really really good! Good job Disney, this kid at heart was very happy!

Desserts looks so appetizing and yummy but at the same time, feels like I can’t eat it because it was just so cute!

Tried the Chicken & Mushroom Pie & the Lava Cheese Tart and both were so mouthwatering.

◼️ IRON MAN EXPERIENCE

First on the list to try was the Iron Man Experience!

Starkvision a.k.a. 3D glasses were for pick-up before entering the ride itself. There were different stations/rooms that can cater the visitors for the ride. The ride was about “us” and Iron Man saving the city.

This ride was one of the best rides ever! It was 4D and really in sink with the one showing that you can literally feel like you were in it! I can’t really describe it that well, so better try to visit HK Disneyland to be able to experience it.

◼️ STAR WARDS: HYPERSPACE MOUNTAIN

The scaredy cat in me got away once I stepped foot in Disney and was able, for the first time, rode a roller coaster! I am really scared in riding one but for the sake that I was in Disney and that this was a Star Wars themed ride, I bet on life and tried this one.

Ride was also amazing, I was actually closing my eyes at times because it was just soooo fast as if I’ll fly away from my seat. 🤣 I loved the effects that made me feel I was one of the Jedi fighting against evil. Hands down again, Disney!

◼️ TOY STORY LAND

On our way to another ride, I saw this and know we were near the Tory Story land. (and also we can hear music and Woody’s “Yee-haw! Giddy-up partner!” 🤣)

Toy Story land made me feel like so small like a toy! So this how Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex and the rest of the toys feel like. 🤣

This part was so wonderful having life-sized Toy Story designs and this was my favorite theme in the park.

Since it was Halloween season, Sid’s toy was in the land, Babyface/Spider Baby! It was so realistic and creepy at the same time.

◼️ IT’S A SMALL WORLD

I was just a little surprised that the Tarsier was big. 😅 Also, I just found out during that time that there’s a Filipino/Tagalog version of “It’s A Small World.” 😅

This part was just so girly and pastel-ly!

After riding this, I can’t get the song, “It’s A Small World” out of my mind! I keep on singing it on repeat the whole day. 😂

◼️ MICKEY’S PHILHAR MAGIC

Sorry that this one’s dark. I took it at night while on our way to the Night Parade because I later realized I don’t have a photo of the entrance signage.

PhilharMagic is a 3D show that shows magic and fantasy of an orchestra including the instruments, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and more! The visuals, and sounds were actually very believable that I felt that it was really happening in the place.

◼️ JUNGLE RIVER CRUISE

Here, you will have a tour guide for the whole Jungle Cruise. The lines were sorted according to what language you prefer: Chinese or English. The lines was a little long that took us about 30 - 45minutes until it was our turn.

Effects were so good that feels like it was real and will be able to attack me. Again, Disney, you are always on point! 👊

The whole ride took us about 15-20 minutes long.

We claimed our free pop corns which was included in the Klook voucher. Flavors were caramel and BBQ/Buffalo, I think. I like the caramel more than the other flavor.

Next stop was the Grizzly Gulch.

◼️ GRIZZLY GULCH

Grizzly Gulch made me forget for a second that I was in Disneyland since everything just makes you believe that you are in another place. It made me feel I was in a movie with a Western themed film.

There were even performers dancing and singing - makes everything more believable.

◼️ JOURNEY TO HALLOWEEN TOWN

This was the attraction that took us the longest to get our turn. I think it took us about an hour or more and when it was our turn, a little technical happened which took another 15 minutes of waiting time.

Sally is so pretty and exactly looks like the cartoon.

This attraction was actually not a ride but a live action story telling. The only thing disappointing was that the other parts were spoken in Chinese rather than in English. I know we were in Hong Kong but I would truly appreciate if it was spoken in English since it is Disney after all.

Night’s approaching and the last ride we tried was the Mystic Point.

◼️ MYSTIC POINT

Another ride that I enjoyed - a trackless ride! It seems simple as you enter but during the ride, all I can say was that “Wow!” I loved how they incorporate the 4D experience while in a trackless ride. You can feel the wind, splatters of water, hear everything clearly, and more. If I’ll comeback to Disneyland, I’ll ride this one again.

◼️ DISNEY NIGHT PARADE

Villains were on the spotlight for Halloween’s Disney Night Parade, since it was Halloween after all. There were no sight of Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, and etc. All were the different villains from the Disney stories.

I’m currently missing Disneyland while writing this blog post. I will surely be back to the magical world of Disney! Truly a place where I can say, I will always be a kid at heart because of Disney.

Hoseok Scenario: The Magic Of Us.

Request: hey babies!! 🎀♡ can you do a super duper fluffy and romantic scenario with hoseok where you guys went on vacation to disneyland and its so couple goals and stuff? i love u girls 💌💭

Genre: Fluff.

This was your dream vacation, ever since you were a child you had dreamed of visiting Disney World, so going there with your boyfriend took that dream to another level, you had planned this together and taken note of the things you wanted to do the most, so when you stepped into the Magic Kingdom you already knew your first stop.

You were jumping like a little girl when you saw the inside of The Chapeau, with all the pretty hats and accessories of every disney character, you wanted everything, you knew you were going to be like this, in every single store you’d want everything since you loved disney so much, but you knew you couldn’t buy all you wanted so your eyes went to the couple shelves, where couple hats and items were aligned, this was perfect for you and Hoseok and you knew you didn’t need to beg your boyfriend to wear something like that because he loved disney just as much as you did.

-Jagiya, oh my god, let’s buy the Mickey ones- Hoseok was now the one dragging you to said hats. He grabbed the Minnie one and put it on top of your head smiling when he saw you, you giggled grabbing the Mickey one, getting on your tip toes to be able to put it on him and arrange his hair a little.

-How do I look?- both of you asked at the same time making you laugh.

-Great- he said as you walked to a full size mirror, you made funny faces in front of it and then saw that you could get a monogram on the back. So you decided to get the date of that day to remember it as it was such a special occasion for both of you. You only had to wait for a short time and then the hats were given back to you, so you took the chance of taking the first selfie of the day.

-There you go - Hoseok said, fixing your brand new Minnie hat properly on your head while you giggled, then you helped him with his and you were set. You took the first pic with Hoseok’s phone while smiling at the camera and standing close to each other, then snapped a few more while doing different expressions, but you also wanted to get one of the date at the back of your hats so you asked help from one of the workers and so you posed with your backs facing the camera, Hoseok’s arm behind your back and your head resting on his shoulder. The photos came out perfectly.

You stayed at The Chapeau for a little longer picking up more goodies and you made sure to get complimentary matching buttons as well which read “Mr. Mickey” and “Mrs. Minnie” on each. Both of you were having a blast and this was just the beginning, to think that you were practically still at the entrance of Magic Kingdom and you had still lots of things to discover made you feel ecstatic.

Hoseok held onto your hand, you were a perfectly looking couple and everybody was going to know that even looking at your from afar, so you laughed at each other and walked ahead to continue with the trip.

You started walking, not entirely following the map, just wandering to whatever place caught your eyes, you had bought the photo pass so you were with your eyes opened at the places where you could get photographed, of course you were looking forward to be photographed in front of the Cinderella Castle, because what could say disney more than that? It was a classic and you were decided to have that photo taken with Hoseok.

The frontal view of the castle passing the main street was amazing and you squealed a little louder as you were getting closer.

-But we are going to have the picture taken-

-But I want one for myself, pose-

You did so smiling like a little girl and Hoseok took all the pictures he wanted. Then you walked and waited a little bit to be able to take the photo, you were feeling a little nervous, you guessed it was just the excitement of the moment, you had kissed Hoseok more than a hundred times but this time felt crucial, like you had to do it right no matter what.

The photographer indicated you the best place to stand and when you met Hoseok’s eyes both of you broke into a fit of laughter.

-God, this feels like a wedding kiss or something like that-

-Like we haven’t had enough practice-

He laughed getting closer to you, embracing you delicately as he leaned down gracefully, like a prince of sorts, you wondered if Hoseok had practiced this by himself.

-Should I do it like this?-

-You are perfect- you affirmed pecking him.

The photographer was waiting for you to tell him when you were ready and when you did Hoseok leaned down again the same way, kissing you softly as you inevitable smiled into the kiss.

Hoseok and you made your way to Fantasy Land when some of the most famous attractions were located, and when a particular one came to your sight you dragged Hoseok there.

-It’s the mad tea party! Oh my god Hoseok I can’t believe it! we are going to feel like we are in wonderland, like I’m Alice and you’re The Mad Hatter-

-I wonder if that spins too much though, you know these things can be dangerous-

You laughed. -Look at all the kids in the line, come on babe! This will be fun-

Hoseok smiled unsurely but went ahead because it was true, there were a lot of kids around and if this was safe for kids then it was safe for him.

The line was not that long and it moved fast so you were inside your cup in no time. You were thrilled to be inside one of disney’s famous cups.

-How amazing is this?- you smiled looking around.

-This is pretty amazing I must say- Hoseok agreed. The ride started and you laughed and laughed, Hoseok enjoyed it more than he thought as it was more of a fun light ride than anything else but still made you happy. You made a little snap there with all the cups spinning around you.

You kept walking encountering with disney characters everywhere, you took pictures with everyone or at least with all the ones you could since sometimes the line for pictures was too long and you wanted to visit everything.

You went from Mickey’s Toontown to Tomorrowland, you went around marveling at everything and then you turned to Hoseok and did puppy eyes at him as you were close to one of the big rides of the park, the Space Mountain.

-Please-

-I don’t know Jagi-

-Please Hobi, we are here, we must!- He stared at the big white structure and then at you. -Nothing will happen, and this will be really good memory for us, please?-

-Well, since we are here and you want this so much and since I am such a good boyfriend I’ll oblige, but you had to repay Y/N-

You curled your arms around his neck and kissed him. -Of course I will-

Hoseok was actually a bit relieved the ride was indoors, but he still was a bit nervous about what to expect from it since it said it was a thrill ride. For this one the wait was longer, so you made use of the fast pass you had bought for rides like this one, you just had to wait a little bit and in the next round you were up. This was one of your favorites for sure, you screamed and laughed at the same time, hearing Hoseok also screaming beside you. So at the end the ride was worth it, Hoseok’s heart was racing but you could tell he hadn’t hated it.

You wandered a bit more around Tomorrowland and then went back to Main Street where you had seen a place in which you were definitely going to eat. How could you not eat at Tony’s?

-We are finally at Tony’s this is will be our famous dinner-

-This is going to be epic-

You sat and of course you ordered spaghetti for two, the same way the lady and the tramp had done in the movie. You were really close to Hoseok and you laughed while eating and slurping on the same strand of spaghetti. You looked at each other like asking if you should, and of course you should, so you got closer and closer until your lips were touching, giggling you pulled apart feeling silly but happier than ever with this man.

After Tony’s you went for a sweet treat you ordered a sink of ice cream for the two of you, you rested while you ate that watching some of the snaps you had made throughout the day.

It was all charging batteries to attend the parade that was about to start, so you headed to the central plaza viewing area to enjoy of the experience, your cameras ready to snap some pretty moments. The ambiance was filled with energy as the music sounded and the park seemed livelier then, it was beautiful to see all the famous characters in one place, all the dancing and special performances made just to entertain the visitors and keep the magic running.

You spent the rest of the day going around all the areas of the park, taking pictures with your pass, you went to the other side of the park, to Liberty Square, Frontierland and Adventureland, honestly time wasn’t enough when you were in a place like disney.

Night came and you were starting to feel a bit tired, besides you had made plans to watch the fireworks show, it was in the Tomorrowland area, it was named the Wishes Dessert Party, how could you miss that? Impossible, so you rushed there to get a nice spot to watch.

It was the best way to conclude this amazing day with Hoseok, both of you had felt like children in the park but also you had enjoyed a lot of each other, doing couple things and it was the most romantic activity of your day.

You were escorted to the Plaza Garden from where you were going to watch the show. The way they did the firework show was just like in the movies, all the colors shinning brightly in the night sky amazing all the eyes that were watching, including Hoseok’s and yours. He hugged you to his body and whispered how much he loved you, with such a magical sight you felt like you were in a movie.

-I love you too, I loved this here-

-Me too- Hoseok sighed dreamily. -Should we come back tomorrow?-

You smiled mischievously and nodded. -Definitely-

News Of The Day

So I told you the Patreon was off for March (and it is. It’s automatically set to go on hiatus, and Patreon assures me you will not be charged, and, if it is, I will call and have it all refunded.) This is because, in this year of me and Jill preparing to settle down and have a baby, I am going to Europe. I’ll be gone between March 6th and March 31st.

Doc, that sounds like the worst possible way of settling down. Let me explain. No, there is too much, let me sum up.

When I was a girl, going to Europe was my dream, and it was a dream that was like going to the moon--I come from a relatively poor background on both sides, particularly when I was young. No one in my family had been to the east fucking coast when I was a girl, I saw the ocean for the first time when I was 18 and only because I made it happen. But Europe, you see, was never going to happen, no matter how many avenues I tried, I was still a girl from the middle of nowhere who, regrettably had never been born into wealth.

I was talking to my boss about how it was something I’d always wanted to do before I had a baby, and I was sad that it was pretty clear that wasn’t going to work out. Jill had wanted to send me, but we just couldn’t make it work. It was a thing she really longed to do for me before we had a baby, but the truck broke, and we need a new water heater--the banal things of life. It was disappointing, but it was a dream I was going to let die.

My boss is a complex man, a rich white dude who nonetheless has a sense of compassion and generosity that occasionally strikes like lightning. So he gave me the money for plane tickets, train tickets, and a month off (unpaid). If you’re going to go once in your life, he said, try to make it count. SO I AM. I was originally going to go by myself, as I don’t have much trouble doing that, and actually enjoy a certain amount of solitude. I live in my head a lot. But ever since my Mom divorced my Dad she’s had a pile of money and weeks of vacation sitting there doing nothing, so I invited her to come along, and I thought she was going to cry with excitement.

The Patreon has been an amazing help, and is going to cover my bills while I’m gone. But since it’ll be off that month, and for some of you who have always wanted to toss a couple bucks my way, but don’t want the month to month thing, I decided to set something up specifically for this trip. I want to add that I don’t expect anything--y’all have done enough for me, frankly. And I’ll still be able to borrow money from Mom to make it work, so you’re not ruining my life. Basically, I’m just asking you to help me out with a lifelong dream I’m getting out of the way.

But there’s rewards! SHINY, FANTASTIC REWARDS. I’m not just asking for money, I want to do stuff for it. And when I say any character, I mean it. (Though, if I’m totally unfamiliar with even the property, you’re taking your life into your own hands) Want a postcard from Bill Cipher? PRETTY SURE I COULD KILL IT, ACTUALLY. A letter from Bastion? The most soulful beep and boops you’ll ever read. Usagi goes to the Paris Catacombs? DONE, WITH LOVE AND TENDERNESS.

So here’s the breakdown:

Any level: a photo post thanking you personally with a picture of me doing the thing!

Tier One: a postcard of the country, from either me or your favorite character! Mailed from Europe.

Tier Two: a two page ficlet of your fav character experiencing whatever you got me, or a two page letter from me about it. Mailed from Europe. Example of how I write about food here.

Tier Three: I buy you a small souvenir from said locale, and wrap it up with a letter from your favorite character or me. Mailed upon my return, I can’t figure out the post offices THAT well.

Tier Four: don’t do this, but if you want to, convo me first and we’ll work something out.

Fish and chips on the street [$12] Fish and chips is one of those things that’s iconic, and it may be terrible (lol just kidding fried food is amazing) but I feel honorbound to finally have a proper try at it.

Bubble and Squeak and other Breakfast Atrocities [$15] Occasionally, I plan something just for the secret knowledge. I need to know what the hell bubble and squeak tastes like. You need me to know what the hell bubble and squeak tastes like. So I found a traditional British place to show me!

Highgate Cemetary Tour [$15] There’s something that seems right about me wandering around in a park dedicated to the most beautiful ways of representing the mortality of humankind, do you think?

Oysters and Bubbly [$15] Ever since I read Tipping the Velvet, I feel like this is a quintessentially British thing, and I love the sea saltiness of oysters and the prickle of bubbly.

Tier One

Glass of wine in a cafe [$7, five available] Again--when in Paris, drink like Parisians do. I would say Amelie wants you to buy me a drink, but I think we all know that’s a bold lie

A trip to the boulangerie next to our place [$12] I am well aware than in Paris, you can throw a rock and hit a bakery, but I’m still charmed by the idea that we have one so close.

Tour of the Paris Catacombs [$20] It’s a tunnel full of beautiful death. I belong here.

Fancy French chocolates [$20] There’s so many fine French chocolatiers, and we found a few near our place! This will get us a couple fancy chocolates to eat by the Seine

Lunch at a bistro with wine [$25, two available] There’s almost an overwhelming amount of food that looks good in Paris, and I am taking suggestions, but we found this little place that basically looks like cave that serves wine, and I’m all into it.

Tier Two

Lunch at Disneyland Paris at BILLY BOB’S WILD WEST BUFFET [$34] There is no way you don’t want me to share with the class French Disneyland’s understanding of the American West.

Dinner at a slightly nicer place, but also with wine [$40]

Tier Three

Day at Disneyland Paris [$70] One of my life goals, however shallow, vain, and foolish, is to go to every Disneyland/world before I die. This will make it two down and two to go and I think we all want to see my girlish excitement.

Cooking Class in Paris [$95] A cooking class with a professional chef! ANd we get to go to the market and selct stuff and make a four course meal and I have never taken a cooking class in my life so I am thrilled.

Dinner at Traditional Croatian restaurant [$33] I admit to having pretty limited knowledge of what Croatian food actually is, and assuming Oath isn’t just playing a massive trick on me and we’re actually performing some sort of fear factor for her amusement, we’re going to find out!

Wine Pairings for the fine dinner! [$55] The wines are specifically selected by a sommelier for each course, I’ve never had anything so fine and I can’t wait for the shade it brings to each course.

12 course plated dinner in a fine restaurant [$77] You may have noticed a theme of doing Shit I Can’t Afford In America. Y’all, I am so excited for this, it’s the kind of meal one might find at the 400 dollar level or higher in the states. I have never, ever been able to afford something like this, and I am so excited.
