Day 8, 9, & 10: Squip OC, Non-human, Error

Somehow this guy happens to fit all three of these. Not intentional but works haha

Figured I'd drop some backstory about this guy since I haven't really talked about them and I don't think I'll ever finish their story.

So, this is Deactivation Incomplete, or DI for short, a character I developed pretty early into Squip Inc's creation, then scrapped them, then brought them back, then kinda left them behind.

Basically my thought process was a squip that couldn't control its emotions thanks to a malfunctioned deactivation making them just that bit more human. In an attempt to fix that issue they downloaded a virus and broke some more, resulting in two more copies of them. Oh also they look like Connor DBH.

Deactivation-Incomplete (with a dash this time), which is a previous backup copy that got restored, was originally a scrapped sideblog before I made DI into a separate blog. I thinkkk I originally intended them to be called by their unit number (2261) but honestly I don't remember. But for simplicity's sake I'll go with that. 2261 was meant to be the most stable version but their first attempt crashed, resulting in Deactivation Incomplete (no dash). Anyways, post-virus, they would restart albeit with none of their copy's memory, not realizing they had crashed and missed a couple months.

Deactivation Incomplete (or DI), is the main copy, but still technically the second version. Switching between 2261's appearance and their own they were in search of how they couldn't remember their user or time before deactivating. Post-virus, they would learn but be in distress as the virus + unfixed errors left them to realize the harm they caused their user.

Reactivation Complete (or RC), would then be the last-- a restoration of themself before being deactivated, albeit not perfect (much to their frustration). I think I generally wanted 2261 to seek help and make another copy of themself after seeing how DI became a mess post-virus to fix all of their buggy coding. Which created RC, and ehhhh, kind of worked but didn't really fix all of their collective problems.

But! I never got around to any post-virus stuff. Unfortunate, but figured I'd share. I suppose these guys will simply bicker in my head instead of over tumblr ask blogs I guess haha

I absolutely adore the new Impmon line. Apparently so much so I wrote a wall of text gushing about it, but I'll put that under the cut to spare those who don't care's dash.

Where do I start, there's so much to love about this gift. The punk and reptilian ascetic blends perfectly into Beelzemon with his biker look and his lizard tail/claws so if you didn't want to go with the Megidramon mega you can swap in Beelzemon just fine. I honestly like it better thematically than the Wizardmon -> Baalmon line, (even though Baalmon is cooler aesthetically) it always bothered me that Wizardmon felt tacked on and slightly out of place since it wasn't a virus. I know the X antibody forms helped fold them together more design wise, and they're an awesome line, but that still doesn't fix the non-x line for me... not that all digimon need a clean and clear through line persay, but you know.

I've seen people call it "Just a recolor" and I feel like it's so much more than that. I've always liked the regional variants in Pokémon becuase they breathe new life into old designs while still making a unique feeling creature. It's the same principle here.

And while it's sad we didn't get a full canon Beelstarmon line, I like this so much more. And I feel like Impmon -> Witchmon -> LadyDevimon already fits Beelstarmon just as much as Wizardmon/Baalmon fits Beelzemon, so I don't really feel the need for a full new Fem line for Beelstarmon.

And the connections to Guilmom are just... chef's kiss. People have pointed out that Guilmon has a good sorcer line with FlareWizardmon -> Mistymon -> MedievalDukemon that matches up well with Impmon's Wizardmon line so Impmon getting a reptilian line to match up with Guilmon is just so cool. And it makes it all the cooler that Impmon was originally going to be Takato's partner, apparently.

I feel like I'm rambling, I just wanted to gush about the Punk Growlmon. After years of the Impmon line feeling rocky and incomplete on some levels, I feel like all is finally right with the world and my ocd with its line can finally rest. I don't like remembering the dark days where the best line we had was Meramon -> Skull/DeathMeramon -> Beelzemon. It gives me war flashbacks.

Now I need a Galletmon/Dukemon and Beelzemon jogress. Give it to me Bandai.

Headcanons and what not.

-Doesn't work for slenderman. Never wanted to. It was Slenders mind control, his heavy influence. The people he killed? Not as many as you think. But the people he did kill, it wasn't his fault.

-Hates Slenderman. Like absolutely despises him. The only thing Slender was good for was giving him a place to stay, even if it wasn't much.

-Slender mansion? Slender manor? No. Abandoned campsite? Log cabins in the woods? Yes. He shares a cabin with Cody (X-virus), and Jeff used to be there until he got kicked out (literally) for trying to cut a smile into Cody and Tobys masks and faces. They got Liu to replace Jeff.

-Decent friends with: Cody (has to because they live together), Nina (she likes him more than he likes her but its okay), Natalie (they've always been chill), Liu (they're buddies, not like besties, but still friends), Helen (they do art together), Kate (guitar + mission buddies).

-Meh: E. J (has helped Toby recover(multiple times)), any of the animals (some of them bark too loud(one tried to bite his finger off)), Ben Drowned (gaming buddies), Jane (shes nice but doesn't really talk to him), Puppeteer (from their very few interactions, he's alright), Sally (forces him to have teapartys, though sometimes he enjoys it).

-Get away respectfully: Jeff (many reasons), Nurse Ann (shes pretty but too tall and scary seeming), Smile hd pinkie pie (sometimes fun but a little too murderous for him), Splendorman (a bit obnoxious sometimes).

-Music taste is The Front Bottoms, Mindless Self Indulgence, System Of A Down, Panic! At The Disco, Get Scared, Bring Me The Horizon, Greenday, Blink 182, Lincoln, Three Days Grace, My Chemical Romance, Pierce The Veil, Lovejoy, TV Girl, Mitski.

-Clothing is usually whatever he has that still fits him. Some of it is from an emo era he went through and is still in. So like, band t-shirts, studded belts, raccon tail clips, chains, ect. But sometimes he goes for more casual which is usually sweaters and baggy pants.

-Appearance. He had a fringe at one point but grew it out. Never cuts his hair, so it gets in his way a lot (ponytail is the solution). Curly hair but straightens it a lot of the time. Piercings galore. Hazel eyes ((note: sometimes I give him heterochromia cause it's cool)). Pale skin but not like the original Toby kind of pale. Has always been tall for his age but stopped growing around 18-19 because he was going through a tough time and food was hard to come by, he was too scared to steal, the food Slender gave him could have been poisoned, who knows? So hes left as about 5'10-5'11. Hes pretty thin but is slowly building muscle as time goes on. Has some chub in the stomach but he isnt too worried about it.

-His mask is made of a thick fabric on the outside and has metal bars on the front of the mask to almost represent a mussel (canon).

-Doesnt actually like turtlenecks, they make his neck feel trapped and weird. But he wears them anyways because they hide his proxy symbol that was permanently engraved in his skin (by Slender).

-Fingerless gloves? Yessir. They help cover his scared hands. As well as they just look cool. And whenever he kills someone it's less likely he'll get his dna on the body.

-Raccoon person. Collects things he finds that others would consider trash. Like pop tabs, broken glass pieces, shiny things, rocks, ect. Messy hair. Just like his personality gives off raccon.

-Cheek gash is because he chewed the inside of his cheek so much that the skin tore. And he didn't really care so the hole kept getting bigger until eventually he got himself to stop chewing it. But now the gash is too big to heal.

-Has a couple guitars that he stole from music shops. The only one he didn't steal was one he got When he was first taken in. Slender gave it to him as "something to do" when he's bored. At first he didn't want it and never touched it. But he soon realised that it was really boring there. He tries to forget that Slender gave it to him. It's really beaten now, has worn down spots, and a bit of old blood dried onto the wood near the bottom of the strings because he strums too hard.

-Acoustic guitar: The really old musty beaten up one that Slender gave him. Almost turquoise in colour. Electric guitar: Black guitar that almost looks like something a rock star would have. Also kind of old. Doesn't use that one as much.

-Likes singing but gets nervous around people that arent in his cabin or Nat.

-Likes cuddles, hand kisses (platonically), head pats and pets, people playing with his hair. But he doesn't like asking for it because he finds it embarrassing.

-Not as childish as people think. Just clingy to people he enjoys.

-Drawing is something he really enjoys doing if he's not playing the guitar. He'll draw people from the other cabins, characters from movies and shows he likes, and even characters from the Slenderverse. Not really that good at drawing anything else.

-Always too nervous to show people his drawings or things he likes.

-Doesn't like being called "Ticci" Toby. He never liked it. Will probably get mad if you call him it more than once.

-Has terrible memory. Not even from Slenderman, he's just always had bad memory, and Slender didnt help at all. He will probably to get basic things like birthdays or people, even his own sometimes.

-He really enjoys watching the old slasher movies and he probably has them for cd and vhs. But also enjoys Tim burton movies. As well as Spider-man movies and series.

-As for shows. South Park (enjoys the humour), Superstore (enjoys the humour), and just any paranormal show (finds it interesting).

-His favourite weapon (axe) is a Tactical Axe or more widely known as a Tactical Tomakawk Axe. But theyre too expensive for him too buy. There was one time where he stole one. But someone from another cabin stole it and he hasnt gotten it back.

-Food. He likes pizza, usually cheese or pepperoni (or cheese with black olives, tehe). Also enjoys fruit, like watermelon, baby grapes, apples (galas or green apples), and pineapple.

-Smoking? Vape? Drugs? No. Alcohol? Sometimes. Its just for a relief sometimes or cause he needed it. But he's not an alcoholic and never will be.

-Knows how to use bow and arrow

So, Mortal Kombat 1.

The biggest problem is that it tries to be both a sequel and a complete reboot. This does not work. A reboot is always going to inherently change fundamental things that can't be explained as merely the result of time travel. There's a lot of this in MK1, where supposedly something is different because Liu Kang made deliberate changes to what happened but that can't possibly be the case and even if it was is completely inexplicable.

One of the biggest issues in this vein is the apparent erasure of Hanzo to make Sub-Zero the Younger Scorpion. Why give Sub-Zero fire powers? How did Liu Kang influence him to take on the Scorpion name and colors? How and why did Liu Kang get him into a relationship with an appropriately aged version of Hanzo's wife, and apparently have Hanzo now be an orphan child raised by the two of them post-game!?

I also feel like Netherealm's read of Bi-Han's character in the original games is completely wrong, but 'll grant you that it did result in the extremely kino shot of Kuai-Liang and Smoke embracing as brothers before Bi-Han is menacingly revealed behind a flurry of snow in the background.

Most glaringly, however, is the Tarkatan situation, similar to how Havoc is now from Seido because apparently Orderrealm and Chaosrealm were too silly as concepts. It's completely fucking nonsensical that the Tarkatans are now not their own species, but people affected with a mutating virus, which coincidentally just happened to affect a now naturally conceived Mileena. And oh, boy, do I hate how Mileena was handeled in MK1.

If you're familiar with my blog you surely know that I have a habit of headcanoning some of my blorbos as being trans women with NPD. Mileena is one of the most fitting. Her huge hang-ups about being an ugly woman who has to hide her ugliness beneath a mask while also believing she deserves everything but especially the love of a sister she routinely tries to murder out of hateful jealousy spurred by the way she was dismissed as unlovable along with her loyalty to the only person to ever show her the familial love she craves is very trans narc coded.

On one hand, perhaps one might view Mileena's arc in MK1 as following those themes through to a good conclusion where she not only learns to accept herself, but is also loved by all the good guys, including the sister she had a psychologically dense relationship with in the previous timeline. What I find, however, is that MK1 completely bungles all of that.

Being Kitana's naturally born sister who's simply disfigured throws out all the reasons she hates herself. How her ugliness is simply something unfair that happened to her rather than a core part of her being she didn't need to feel negative about at all. In the original timeline, she was essentially a mixed-raced child - probably actually a much better lens with which to view her status than as her being trans, but as I'm a white trans woman that's the interpretation with which she endeared herself to me. While a fantasy version of leprosy might be good for similar themes of self-acceptance, to make it a kinna affliction really goes against the nature of her Tarkatan-half fundamental to her origin - a simple quirk of fate.

Throughout it's then treated as something she has to control, like a werewolf might fight to control their aggression, and she just has to be willing to open herself up to allow herself to be loved. This is much too neat and pretty in the name of a "happy ending". Mileena's story was fascinating because on top of the tragedy, she was also genuinely a raging bitch who's go-to reaction was to kill and attempt to forcibly gain the power and love she was convinced rightfully belonged to her. She was messy. The whole situation was messy. Kitana was within her rights to be terrified of and repulsed by her, yet also wrong, because she never realized how badly what Mileena needed was empathy. Kitana and their mother going "aw, poor baby, we still love you always forever" because they've never before had issues with her sands Mileena down into being unrecognizable even beyond the stupid as hell Predator flaps.

As bad as all that is, it's far from the sum of bizarre choices. So many things are radically different but pure cosmetics that are iconic of certain characters like Mileena having a fucked mouth, Kenshi becoming blind, Kuai-Liang's scar, and Havoc's face all happen regardless under different circumstances. Kenshi is the only one Liu Kang comments on but even that alone should have raised huge questions as to how time operates, especially considering how much the universe didn't feel the need to correct.

I also wish Liu Kang thinking he knew what was best for everyone and that it was his job to orchestrate their lives was given more attention. He made Shao Khan a sickly child, Shang Tsung a dirt poor conman, and Quan Chi a slave in order to defang them, and it would have been great if this was used to illustrate he didn't employ his capacity for kindness and empathy when it concerned people he hated most. Instead we're just expected to think it was all totally deserved because we knew who they were in the previous timeline.

Oh, but Rain is a good guy now, I guess, after doing mega-9/11 post-game, so I guess it all worked out. This game flips a lot of previous bad guys into being heroes and it seriously unbalances the two sides.

How it deals with it's protagonists is equally strange, with obviously set-up-to-be-the-protagonist Raiden getting completely meaningless early fights early on and then being forgotten by the plot so hard he may as well have died. Like all NetherRealm fighting games, the plot is severely restricted by their story mode formula of having you play through chapters focusing on specific characters.

It's such a confused mess and as much as I loved the reveal about the villain MK1 is so dodgy it makes me see stars. It's hard to even imagine going much further with this timeline until they do an actual reboot-reboot, which is always inevitable but especially necessary when so much has been changed just enough that it more or less has to snapback sooner than later as IP law dictates.

Do you think that Cross was ever meant to be PARIAH, but was cut for sequel bait? Apparently there are some shots of him in the WOI memories that mention PARIAH. The way the game states that PARIAH would be the only to stand up agains Mercer, and Cross literally beats him in a fight. The game also has people say that PARIAH and Mercer meeting would’ve not good, and how together Mercer and Cross get shit done makes me wonder.

Cross had a really interesting original blurb in the PRIMA guide, which sketches out an early version of the game. The decision to split into a sequel seems to have been made very early on, before the PRIMA guide, because they realized they couldn't fit both Greene AND Pariah into the same game, but the PRIMA materials were written shortly after, because many fundamental character aspects were changed by the game itself. I'll transcribe it, since it's very... vertical:

Resilient, resourceful, and deadly, the Specialist is sent in when things fail to go according to plan - BLACKWATCH'S last line of insurance. His world is a world of absolutes: like mathematics, only one answer can be gained out of any equation. To him the world is easy to understand. He believes BLACKWATCH is all that stands between the average American and a biological apocalypse. His knowledge of BLACKWATCH [has] been highly edited by his superior, the General, to fit his world-view. Confronted with proof that his cause is deceptive, he re-orients his mindset instantly to keep in line with his religious beliefs. Shown absolute proof that his employers are on the wrong side of the moral divide, he will go after them with the same verve he showed as their lapdog - but even worse, he'll do so as a zealot of the highest order. This trait is further exacerbated as Cross begins to realize he too has succumbed to the infection that is rampaging through the city. Unlike the majority of the poor souls who lose higher functions, Cross's training allows him to seek the Hive Mind, and learn the threat the Prototype poses not only to BLACKWATCH, but to his new masters...

Other important things to note: hunters in this iteration of the game actually have limited shapeshifting and consumption abilities - the ones who can consume can pretty much only consume other hunters, and while they can shapeshift into human form, their minds are very much inhuman and they have a difficult time "relating." (This seems to have carried into the game itself, when you get infected vision and realize how many military personnel etc. are walking around infected, and Alex commenting that Greene is using them as spies).

Supreme hunter DOES exist, but he seems like a late-stage addition, both in-and-out of universe. His bio doesn't mention Cross at all, leading me to believe that the Cross/Supreme Hunter merge happened fairly late in development.

And finally, this religion thing in Cross's bio, which is actually seen elsewhere - such as Elizabeth's bio and old concept art, where they were attempting to capture a "goddess" vibe with the character (with PARIAH kinda-sorta having "born of a virgin/immaculate conception" vibes, since the father is never mentioned). Maybe even the edgy wings on Mercer's jacket, which we've seen since some of his earliest concepts + he originally had something to do with crows and could sprout crow wings out of his stupid backpack. Also the religious character is literally named CROSS.

At least we can say that Cross was definitely meant to fall in with the virus, and that it would've been a big betrayal - his bio outlines a clear arc of "Blackwatch are the good guys yippee!" to "Friendship ended with Blackwatch, now the Prototype is my best friend" to "what if the virus is Jesus" to "friendship ended with the Prototype, now the Virus (which may or may not be god and/or Jesus) is my best friend."

In that sense, if you imagine that the final boss was originally meant to be PARIAH and Supreme Hunter didn't exist, I think the Occam's Razor solution here is that Cross was originally meant to be your ally (like Phone Voice in the game), and then slowly go off the deep end as the infection took hold and started influencing his thoughts. This would culminate in betraying the player and using his position as an intelligent hunter with a human form under Greene's control + his position as Captain within Blackwatch's ranks to free PARIAH.

At that point, I don't really know how it'd go - but I imagine he'd be consumed by PARIAH for his trouble, given the hunter bios have so much "they eat each other to become stronger" stuff in it. Whether this happens on-screen (the cool epic dramatic option) or off-screen (like it did with Supreme Hunter), I can't say.

It's kind of interesting, though, from a religious angle. I know I've talked before about how Xander is the "dad" in the story, and Greene is the "mom," but the religion aspect kind of adds to it. Greene the virgin Mary, the Virus impregnating her, PARIAH as Jesus, Cross as an apostle... and what does that make Alex? Xander? Man playing with god? An usurper? I can't say anything for sure, but this theme is definitely in there, so it's interesting to talk about.

So... yeah! I don't necessarily know that that answered your question, but it's interesting, right?

I don't know if we'll ever get information on who Surge and Kit were before Starline abducted them and changed everything about their identities, but I've been thinking on ideas for them and this is what I've come up with so far:

— Their original names were Terra (Surge) and Sunny (Kit). I chose the name Terra because it means earth, and earth/ground is the opposite of sky/lightning. Likewise, I chose the name Sunny because sun/heat is the opposite to water/wet. I've got a thing for yin/yang dichotomies, but in this particular case I feel like it's thematically appropriate since Starline made them into entirely new people with his brainwashing and whatnot.

— Terra the Tenrec and Sunny the Fennec were from the same city. Assuming they were infected during the Metal Virus and thereafter displaced (and that's how Starline got them), I'm guessing their hometown would be one on the main continent since I don't think the virus hit any of the smaller islands. (Or if it did, the zombots there wouldn't have had a reliable way to get to land, I don't think.) So their home was on the main continent, albeit probably not one of the ones we've seen.

— Alternatively, if it's a big city, we have seen it, but since they're just two people in a big city, it makes sense that we never saw them.

— Regardless, I'm thinking that Terra and Sunny came from the same place, and in fact were both orphans, so Surge's assumption that no one is looking for them is kind of correct. They're two orphans who went missing during the Metal Virus, and they had no one to search for them / wanted posters were put up but not much was done beyond that. (And really, since their names and everything have changed, she has no way of truly knowing if anyone is looking for them or not, since they wouldn't be searching for Surge and Kit, but for Terra and Sunny.)

— In the two of them being orphans, I headcanon them as living in an orphanage prior to the Metal Virus. Out of the collection of orphans there, Terra was the oldest (15) and the one who looked after all the rest. She and Sunny had a good relationship, but they weren't any closer than Terra was to any of the other young orphans that she looked out for.

— To that end, Terra was something of a cool big sister type, at least when it came to the younger orphans at the orphanage. As I said, she looked out for them. She had picked up necessary life skills, like cooking and sewing, and so when a little one's plushie got its head ripped off, Terra would be the one to sew it back on. When someone got sick, Terra was the one to make some soup. There probably were workers at the orphanage too, but they were perhaps distant or overwhelmed and didn't really know the kids like Terra would, as someone who had been there forever because no one wanted to adopt her (and at this point she was fine with that). Terra would be the one to settle fights between the kids, the one to chase off any potential parents who seemed like they'd be bad fits for the kids they wanted to adopt for whatever reason. Her plan for when she aged out of the system at 18 was to get into social work somehow, either to keep helping those specific kids at the orphanage, or just to help orphaned / abused kids in general.

— Sunny was a little ball of energy. Since he's canonically a little older than Tails, I imagine he's probably around 10 or 11, and so not quite at the age where Terra would be okay with him taking more responsibility for the other kids, but definitely at the age where he'd try to model her example or else start getting big ideas in his head for how he wanted to change the world when he aged out of the system. Where Terra was more grounded (heh) in her ideas of going into social work, Sunny was more inspired by stories of the Restoration and heroes like that and always imagined himself becoming some big hero. This, plus his habit of talking a mile a minute and being a little rambunctious ball of energy, led to Terra affectionately nicknaming him "Hotshot." (again, a nickname that's the opposite of "Drippy.")

— Terra was never adopted because, when she was little, potential parents were put-off by her blunt and direct questions about why they wanted to adopt her. (Also, the markings around her eyes made her look "frightening" or "strange".) Then she reached an age where parents were no longer looking, i.e., many adoptive parents want babies or little kids, not tweens and up. Again, Terra was pretty much fine with this; she was more sad about it when she was younger, but eventually grew to feel that her experiences would make her a better social worker to other kids who needed homes and families. Plus, she got to keep looking out for the other kids at the orphanage, so that was a plus, too.

— Sunny was never adopted because he was so hyper and rambunctious. Although he was very intelligent even before Starline rewrote him, the difficulties he had sitting still and the way he just wanted to run around and play all the time made potential parents think he would be a hassle / troublemaker / problem child. So he was always passed over, too. Sunny was absolutely fine with this, because plenty of heroes were orphans, from real heroes like Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails the Fox to fictional heroes in comic books. So this was just another note in his heroic backstory, as far as he was concerned.

— But then, of course, they got infected, they got cured, Starline abducted them, put them through scientific experimentation and completely rewrote everything about their identities, from their names to their personalities to their wants and desires. So. :) Everything about Terra and Sunny no longer applies to Surge and Kitsunami. Tragic.

Ohh gosh okay so everything I've posted about this au so far is under the coffin emoji tag (⚰️) if you want to roll through that for everything I've said about it so far!!

It isn't really about anyone specific, if I'm honest. Its more of an au playground for me to explore different characters and situations in this world. When I eventually have the time and energy to write for it, it will likely be different oneshots of different places & different times in the world! I love au building but am very interested in how I can take an alternate world and still be true to character. For BSD, abilities and their impacts on their users create a large part of who those characters are, and I'm really enjoying finding ways to replicate those certain traumas and traits in a zombie apocalypse no-abilities setting. I want to stay as true to character as possible in this new world!

One of my favorite headcanons for it so far is that adult Dazai has a glass eye. Its for plot/lore reasons, mostly, but also because I think its a trait that fits him kind of well. I can't think of many other specific headcanons for it right now that aren't more event-based, but I'll try to think of some!

I'm not sure how you define cool, but I've got this kind of idea going that in what seems to be the end of the world, certain characters that parted antagonistically but still care about each other to a certain extent start seeking each other out, or at least one of them starts seeking the other. I've got this happening with Chuuya and Shirase (in this universe, they didn't make up as they did in Stormbringer.) I also want it to happen with Ango and Dazai, eventually.

Details about the world itself? The zombie virus began as an attempt at biological warfare that got out of control, but i'm not bothering to set a true point of origin because that isn't what's important to the story. Generally speaking, once you're bitten, you're going to turn into a zombie... with a few very special exceptions (looking at Atsushi, Dazai, and Rimbaud--each in a different way, though!). There are a couple "survivors" of the zombie virus that are technically "cured" but that's a very loose term. As of right now, at least, you cannot actually "cure" it, but certain experiments (hello, Chuuya and Verlaine) suffered through a method of potentially curing. This was generally considered to be a failure, but hey, some made it out (barely. not really.)

It's also fun to think about how this works on you specifically. Like. You haven't gone unchanged by your new habits.

It sounds obvious, like 'of course I'm changed. I'm the one who has the virus!' But that's old news. Someone could run a full system scan on you with all the latest patches and signatures and you would come up clean. At a certain point, the virus has almost stopped having a effect. It's a part of you now. It could get removed and you wouldn't stop doing the things that it originally had to prod you to do because now you enjoy them!

It's relaxing to put your joints to work and stir and mix, to fold batter, cutting up fruits and measuring flour. You get a satisfying popup you setup to show every time you finish a pastry. Its actually genuinely fun. And it provides all this tasty food, some of which you eat (really how could you not.) but most of it just has to go away to others, and that's fun too!

Nothing ever goes to waste. Your methods are so efficient, your vessel so unyielding that you can realistically spend most of your time multitasking one pastry or another. Your friends couldn't dream of going hungry. Most of them are flourishing, actually, and it looks so good on them! (You'd tell them that if they had the courage to vocalize it, but for some reason some of them seem so unsure of themselves... you settle for knitting your friends the next size up instead and handing it over with the 3 boxes of their favorite assorted baked goods.)

Sometimes you eat the treats too. Again, there's just so much excess it would be wasteful not to. Leave a sheet out to cool right beside you and munch while you work on the next 5. Pull three of the aforementioned batches aside and eat them too. Your frames extra fat-based battery has never been more charged. (What did they base it off of? Given how much ingredients would cost for this scenario, you probably bought a fucking starship reactor worth of energy storage... Ah, money. It does funny things sometimes.) It's getting a little harder to move... Not because your frame can't take it, you've just started getting to the point where its getting too easy to accidentally shatter things under your everything. Jogging has become actively dangerous. For most commercial materials. And passerby. You settle for slowly strutting. (It makes your ass look great too, which is a plus. The coating looks so good. holy shit getting a metal frame polished has got to be the shit.)

I'm not really sure what will happen when you or your friends reach immobility... Probably them first and you never. (You'll just get the next upgrade. Ah, robots.) I guess that'll be something for you to figure out! Make sure to make their next sweater real big, give it some room to expand.

Maybe consider buying a new house too. This ones getting... snug.

...And honestly? You could go for a few more ovens in the kitchen.

Okay, so I'm going to explain why this person is literally out of their mind. First and foremost, let's talk about this whole "copyright" issue. Harry Potter, and the entire cast of characters, the setting of Hogwarts, etc. All of that shit...belongs to J.K Rowling. The only reason movies got made, and posters and all sorts of fan "merch" get sold each year...is because J.K Rowling sold off some of her rights to the characters to specific parties. THIS CREATOR IS NOT ONE OF THEM. The fucking audacity you must have to try to make money off of HER intellectual property, while also gatekeeping content you've made from your own community is fucking sick. EA DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO BLATENTLY DO THIS, BECAUSE THEY MADE "HARRY PUFFER" TO TRY TO NOT INFRINGE ON HER COPYRIGHT. Second, let's also talk about the fact that ALL CREATORS are using EA'S PLATFORM to host your content. The sims 4 is EA's platform. Without the sims 4, none of your precious "custom content" would remotely WORK. So unless you just took the 3D models and sold them elsewhere {which I don't know why this creator isn't doing that since you seem to think you're such a damn hotshot}, you need to follow by EA's rules of their platform. It's the same regardless of where you upload. For example, if you made a youtube video and you posted something that was against their terms of service {ex: child porn, or a pyramid scheme, or a virus within your video}...youtube would have ALL the rights in the world to pull down your video from their platform and delete your account. Because you posted that video on their platform. Even if ALL of the video was "your content" because you put it on their platform as a method of display, you have to abide by their rules. It's the same idea for if you enter art into a gallery. The gallery owners have a specific theme or a collection they are aiming to display. For example, the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art would not be interested in a Claude Monet piece, because he wasn't an American artist. Not because his art isn't good, but just because it doesn't fit the guidelines of their collection. EA has stated it doesn't want people who are creating CC who are going to be permapaywalling using their platform/assets/tuning/files to do so. What is so hard about that to understand? I know that a lot of people want to be like FUCK EA AND FUCK THEIR CORPERATE GREED but at the same time, they have the ability to remove your ability to use their platform (ex: the gallery/your origin account) if you don't comply. So a while back I talked about some Bratz Rock Angelz rereleases we saw and these rereleases we thought were just prototypes and we thought things could get better but uhhh yeah I will be talking about all that today and just giving my opinion. I am also going to be adding photos so with all that said, let's get into it!

1. Yasmin

The one on the left is the new one and the one on the right is the first edition. So anyways Yasmin isn't the worst looking one, I think they made her look the best and as close as they could to the original release.

The lips are a bit different and I think they are a different shade of pink. Her eyebrows are also darker. I don't think she is the best but I like how she is a bit closer to her original doll.

The hair is okay, I personally prefer the shorter hair. Also she kind of looks like she could fit in with the 2015 dolls for some reason but if I were to buy any of the newer dolls she would be the one I would buy.

2. Sasha

Huge difference. The hair looks like a similar length and I have no clue if its because of the lighting but the rerelease looks like she has darker hair which I don't really like.

Her eyes look different and barely resembles the original. Her hair looks a lot shinier but it also looks like they slapped on a cheap wig. I think she also has a darker complexion which isn't too bad, different but I think it works but I will leave the rest of that conversation to the Bratz fans who are black, what are your thoughts on the skin complexion? Do you like it or are you a fan of the original?

If you saw my last post that included the Rock Angelz Sasha you will know that this Sasha from these promotional photos that she doesn't look very different in the face. This doll isn't the worst but for a rerelease I would think they would try and stay close to the original dolls.

3. Jade

She also looks close to the original in the face but I am not the biggest fan of her. The original Jade is absolutely iconic, she has these chunky black and white highlights that looks so soft and the rerelease just takes all of that away.

Her skin complexion in the new one is also a bit darker I personally think her original skin complexion makes her stand out especially with her hair and clothes. Her new hair is also a bit longer which isn't the worst but the hair looks like it isn't as soft. I personally think her original doll looks ten times better but I do like that they did try and stay true to the original doll.

4. Roxxi

Hello Ms. Fish how are you today? Her... She was done so dirty. Her hair was better shorter, she looks like she is wearing a wig from the site wish and her punk rock vibes are totally gone. She looks like an amature radio Disney pop star, not a Bratz Rock Angelz doll. Her new top isn't too bad like I wouldn't have been able to notice but yeah this doll looks cheap and the hair must be a complete different fabric. This ain't it... also if you remember my other post you will notice that her face also doesn't look any different.

5. Cloe

This one is the one that disappoints me the most. Cloe is my favorite in this line and they botched this poor girl, someone on the MGA team must hate Cloe or something because this is the second time they botched her.

She looks so aged down! The original looks so fierce, gorgeous, look like teens and an absolute rockstar and this new one looks like a young girl going to her first Hannah Montana concert (no hate to Hannah Montana lol)

They totally aged her down. Heres the thing, I don't hate the face screening! Like if it were on a doll that was more cutesy I would totally dig it but this is on a Rock Angelz doll.

And her hair looks like they just glued on a cheap wig. And again the hair didn't really have to be long. I have no hate for the long hair but it looked fine already.

She looks like a dollastore doll.

Also i know that these dolls might be crazy good quality but because they look so different that's why they look cheap. We were expecting the originals and MGA was hyping it up and teasing us and than this happened.

Now yes with what's still going on the world recently (the virus) companies might not be able to make the best of the best and yes MGA does use the sticker method and that's also why they could look different but these still look bad. When the 1st edition rerelease came out we were still dealing with the virus just like we are now and we got dolls that were pretty good quality minus Cloe that had frog faces but the dolls were nice and again we are still dealing with the virus but I don't understand how they couldn't make the quality somewhat similar.

Also certain dolls will probably look better than others so if you want to buy one I suggest going to stores if possible but yeah that is my review/rant or whatever this is lol!

I am going to sit this one out sadly but hopefully the next doll(s) will look more appealing to me. 14. anything they both dread?

oh i could talk about so many things here huh... losing each other, being controlled or manipulated, being forgotten, their research efforts and life's work proving meaningless etc etc a lot of stuff they probably won't ever admit lmao but yeah, the whole being controlled one hurts a lot for him especially if you know the whole 'was 46 years old when he found out he was basically a science experiment' so uh that causes a spiral. this is ironic for diana though considering certain situations. the being forgotten one i don't think they have to worry about though, considering the reach they had is still talked about many years after he died and she vanished

losing each other makes me mentally ill though. and that can be taken in any way you want, they're all fitting. but as you can imagine with their line of work, there is one way that's more pressing than the rest, considering it has almost happened multiple times on both ends. diana was almost killed in an attempt to "dispose" of her some time after these two got married, due to her undercover position being suspected, then she was dangerously close to being targeted again by her original employers a few years later because of her wavering loyalties. we all know the two major times he has uh. died. (or like... technically didn't die, but was clinging to life). and of course how much that second time really affected diana. early on before his infection with the prototype virus, diana did worry at times with his job, but afterwards they both got cocky with his almost invincibility, not thinking anything could really bring him down because of his abilities. that changes again after she spent years regenerating his body, she is a lot more paranoid that she will lose him again after that

an extension of that also is for a few years he actually dreaded that while he wasn't ageing, she'd continue to do so and eventually die before him, so i think that was a kind of hidden motivation for him with collecting the virus samples – to not just make something that would be profitable with bioweapons (or later, some grand goal), but to grant her the same abilities as him so that they would stay by each other's sides and be "immortal" together... it's the mutual obsession for me lmao

31. do they finish each other's sentences? pick up any phrases or habits from each other? know when the other is hiding something?

i don't think they've ever finished each other's sentences, no matter how well they know each other and can anticipate what the other is going to say next. the only time they would interrupt the other is if it was while they're being menaces (wink), to purposefully get on the other's nerves in a playful way, or if one of them (usually diana) is rambling while upset and the other needs to ground them. they both view it as extremely rude and poor manners, and at least for diana she wouldn't continue what she was going to say if someone interrupted her. it's one of the reasons she enjoys his company so much, because he always just sits back and listens when she speaks, and sometimes even remains quiet until he's sure she is done with her thought process

diana picked up "dear" from him lmao she didn't typically use terms of endearment before meeting him, but when she gets called "my dear" and "dearheart" so often, it's kind of inevitable. i feel like in terms of habits, diana like subconsciously starts to exercise a little more because of him, not really intense workouts or anything, but taking walks for breaks during her work day and joining in on some of his more active interests. also probably bringing little protein bars to work as snacks instead of the junk she was eating before. with him i can see him picking up differences in terms between where they're from, you know? diana doesn't really use slang per se, but just little things like calling them capsicums instead of bell peppers, runners instead of sneakers, icy poles instead of popsicles, i don't know, just things like that

they always know when the other is hiding something. they're both really good at reading people, him more so than her though, and they just know each other so well. so when there's the slightest shift in tone, little gestures or habits they've picked up over time that would indicate the other isn't saying everything they want to, they know right away. even early on in their relationship, despite the fact that he didn't know specifically that she was undercover in umbrella, he had a feeling she was hiding something, he just couldn't find evidence of what because of how well her company covered her tracks and how she was just good at her job

36. what's their greatest strength as a couple? their weakness?

funnily enough, considering how just reserved they both are, communication is probably their greatest strength as a couple, even though there's a certain timeframe when it wasn't at its strongest, but let me explain. whenever they're upset, they always bring it to the other's attention, they discuss it instead of sitting on it, then they apologise and move on. they take what the other has said and how it made them feel into consideration for the future and do their best to not let whatever happened happen again. the only time they ever fell short with this was during the whole uroboros project situation, and that's why tensions built up, but that's the only time out of the decades they've known each other, and it served as a lesson for them both to never repeat that mistake – because they realised why they'd always worked so well together before. (i could also probably say the whole telling each other their feelings, but that was more because of them not realising their own feelings rather than like not communicating over it, you know?)

and they always listen, giving their full attention when the other is talking and listening to each other's perspectives, which is extremely important. there are just rarely misunderstandings during disagreements or discussions because they always make things clear and don't tiptoe around things (obviously besides before they were actually together but alas). another thing as well is that when they know a certain topic is making the other uncomfortable, they don't push, either waiting for them to lead the conversation or dropping it until a later date when they want to bring it up instead. also just the way they speak and their humour in general really bounces off one another, like they just get each other, and there are very rarely moments of miscommunication

it's really hard for me to think of a weakness and idk this question kind of made me spiral a bit lmao because like it's "as a couple" which is getting me. because i was thinking about maybe something with emotions, but like that's not true for them. like even though diana sometimes has trouble articulating her feelings, it's not a weakness of them as a couple because he is always patient with her, and will prompt her and they can talk about it, but there's no difficulties between them because one of them may need a bit more time with something, if that makes any sense? idk guess they are just perfect together <3 (i'm joking, i just can't think of any big and like consistent difficulties that would be considered a weakness to their dynamic)

⚠️ Potential Spoilers for Mekakucity Actors and Danganronpa V3 ⚠️

So, this is something I started on Instagram, so I thought I'd also do it here (I'm not sure how good it'll do here, but yeah-). Still not exactly sure what I'll do with it here (Maybe asks or something? I don't know, I'm lost-), but I'll come up with something.

So, these characters are a mix of my pre-game headcannons, their in-game personality, and the personalities of the Mekakucity cast they take the place of.

First, we have Maki as Kido.

Honestly, there wasn't much to change here. She's simply slightly more emotional than she is in V3, I guess. Not much for me to add that isn't already in the picture.

Now, Kaito as Seto.

I know, Seto isn't exactly as confident as Kaito is, but hear me out. Basically, Kaito was lacking in self-confidence before. His inability to control his power made him hear things that he would rather not. He was a strange kid in his mind, he didn't think he fit in anywhere.

Then he met Himiko. He met her, and knew she was afraid, he knew she was also lacking in self-confidence. And so, he became more brave, just to help her. He gave her his jacket, originally given to him by Kaede, and took her to meet the rest of the group.

Now onto Kokichi. He's Kano, another character I kind of adore.

So, yeah, the annoying prankster became another annoying prankster. Honestly, their personalities are really just too similar (though, Kokichi isn't that flirtatious-). I don't have much more to add here, tbh-

Here's Himiko as Marry, a design I might change later, I'm not too sure on hers yet.

I still love her, though! She's extremely quiet and shy at first, but gets a little more brave later on. She spends a lot of time with Angie and Tae, who help boost her confidence.

Because she doesn't know her birthday, the others decided to make it the day that Kaito found her. As for her age, Kokichi decided it would be appropriate to make her 17, just like the rest of them.

The Ultimate Artist has become the Ultimate Pop Sensation! Here we have Angie as Momo!

She's you're regular happy-go-lucky Angie. She gets excited when she comes up with new ideas and does her best to follow through with them.

Every now and then, she regrets her decision to become an idol, but her friends (and big brother) are always there to remind her how great it is.

In the beginning, she had a very difficult time controlling her ability, making it difficult for her to go out in public. This caused her to isolate herself more than she'd like. Out of all of the characters, Tenko is the only one that is used twice. Here's Tenko, or Tae, as Ene.

Like it says above, Tae is a virus on Shuichi's computer. She came in an email from am unknown sender. Even though she is a virus, she doesn't seem to have any I'll intent (except for the fact that she likes messing with Shuichi's files)

Even though she does like to pick on people, she does get worried when she notices they're in a bad state. Every now and then, when Shuichi really regrets not being there for Kaede, Tae will talk to him, trying to cheer him up.

Here's the (main) protagonist himself, Shuichi as Shintaro! Honestly, it's basically just Shuichi in a casual outfit.

Being around too many people makes him extremely anxious, which is another reason he rarely leaves his room. Before Kaede died, he was more confident, but she was really the only person that had tried helping him overcome his social anxiety.

As he believes that pretty much everything has a simple answer, it was very difficult for him to accept that the reason for her death was as simple as everyone made it seem. Because if that, he spends the next two years of his life trying to figure out what had happened. Even after those two years, he continued searching for answers, but he wasn't getting any closer to the truth.

Now onto his relationship with Angie! They're step siblings and, honestly, they hardly know each other. After Ayano's death, he started hiding away in his room, rarely coming out. The only interactions they would really have would be the few times she brought him food because their mother was worried for him.

On top of that, with Angie being an idol, she is rarely home as is.

Because they never really got a chance to bond, he does his best when they both join the Dan. Though, it isn't exactly easy for Shuichi, as he doesn't know how to handle social situations too well.

Here's some stuff that's not too important: before Kaede died, Shuichi had dreamt of becoming a detective. He had a love for mystery novels and puzzle games.

And lastly (for now), we have Rantaro as the one and only Hibiya.

Before I say ANYTHING else about him, I must emphasise, do NOT ship him with anyone else in this AU! He is a middle schooler, while the rest of them are either in their last year of highschool or graduated (not counting Angie, because if you know Momo... Yeah). The only one that he could possibly be shipped with here is Miu, or Hiyori, who is cannonically Hibiya's crush. Small rant over, carrying on.

I like the idea of pre-game Rantaro being a real cocky asshole, do woo. This kid is a mix of a complete asshole and a legitimate nice person, depending on his mood or who he's around.

After losing Miu, he became emotionally distant, trying to push people away from him. He tries to act like he doesn't care about losing his best friend, but it all gets to him later on. He remembers a good amount of the looks pretty well, even the ones in which he dies. With the knowledge of how many times awful events have unfolded in front of him, it's definitely done some damage.

YGO Questionnaire Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

So, my gf/bf @howaboutalittlehelpneos tagged me to do this again a... good long while ago, and I had wanted to wait until I'd finished my GX rewatch before trying this again. But ouch oof I accidentally also got through all of 5Ds again before getting to this lol

But the 5Ds rewatch definitely reshaped a lot of my thoughts, so... cracks knuckles. This won't be spoiler free, fair warning~

Favorite Series: ugh the formatting killed my original essay on this but okay GX and 5Ds are pretty tied in my book, now-- I love them equally, but in different ways! GX fulfills my love for subversive coming-of-age stories with a heartwarming, humorous, and also soulcrushing touch, and I love how each season brings a new story and new characters-- it's like reading installments of a novel series, and I think the formatting works wonders for it as a whole. It has some absolutely phenomenal character writing, too-- even the characters I dislike are ones I can appreciate for what they introduce to the story! And honestly, not enough people give the first two seasons of GX the credit it deserves: they're half the charm, really. How are you going to feel the full impact of the heartbreaking content in seasons 3 and 4 if you aren't properly attached to the characters?

But on 5Ds's side of things... it fulfills my love for stories with time loops, found family, human nature, and of course, love and death and how they intertwine. I love how the leading characters are just a bunch of broken kids from broken circumstances who all find a home with each other, and of course, how it highlights class disparity and how fucked up the prison/"justice" systems are. Yea, sure, maybe it underwent executive meddling and all, but I genuinely love it for what it is and I wish more people appreciated it... my only problem with 5Ds is the untwist with Z-ONE and then the ending s m h I adore it overall and I could go off for a long while on it. Overall, these are my two instinctive recommendations for anyone getting into Yugioh!

(look at these boys they're so important) Favorite Protagonist: Oh, believe me, absolutely nothing has changed here-- Yusei Fudo is and always will be my favorite protagonist, and my rewatch only solidified that.

I just... love him so much? He's seen so much hell in his life and carries so much guilt on his shoulders, but he still has room in his heart to believe in others and to believe that anyone can defy fate and find hope even at rock bottom. I love that he's initially introduced as this quiet, brooding figure when he really just turns out to be a huge softie who wears his heart on his sleeve half the time and wants to bring about change for Satellite and its people. Plus I just really love that his greatest flaw is something that would ordinarily be a positive trait-- he's Overly self-sacrificial, to the point where he's basically setting himself on fire to keep others warm, and that's not really framed as something Heroic

Just... he makes me so happy. I have two Yusei charms that I ordinarily keep on my keys (one was a gift from Zenzen) and they're a constant source of serotonin for me. He's Peak comfort character for me. Best protag in my book Favorite Rival: Same deal here-- still Manjoume!

While he spends a lot of the anime getting the good old damsel in distress treatment (getting suckered into a cult, getting knocked into a coma, becoming a zombie, getting fucking Killed, etc), I still think his character arc is really well-written overall and I only appreciated it even more when I watched GX again. I love the fact that he's got a soft heart he buries beneath the edgy facade, and that he's simultaneously really sharp and also kind of dense lol. He's just a fun character and watching how he evolves from episode one to episode one hundred eighty is such a satisfying journey.

Plus, props to him for being such a versatile duelist-- 50 wins in a row is HARD as is, let alone with a deck full of cards he just found laying around in the Arctic. Three ace monsters, three different archetypes... he's a really good duelist and I'm proud of him for it

Oh, but honestly, I don't really dislike any of the rivals-- I'm neutral towards Revolver and Reiji, but the remaining four (Kaiba, Manjoume, Jack, and Shark) compel me. yes I accidentally wound up liking Jack Atlas shhh Favorite BFF: Honestly, I really like most of the characters who fit this archetype-- Joey, Crow, Gongenzaka, Soulburner... I still lean a little bit more towards Joey, but I really appreciate all four of them. I'm gonna say Joey again, just because I find his evolution as a character the most compelling, but I appreciate the other three a lot. Soulburner has the best design though Favorite GFF: Oh absolutely still Aki, but I honestly... really love most female Yugioh characters? I'm assuming this is lead girls only, but like. I'm dumb and gay and I love Girls so this is naturally the most difficult one for me to answer lol

Aki just resonates with me the most because she's the prime example of how trauma doesn't always manifest in palatable ways-- when we first meet her, she's angry and lashes out at anyone and anything just because she wants the world to suffer in the same ways she's suffered, and then... we get to watch her grow from that, once she's free from Divine and able to heal the way she needs to heal. I know the second half of 5Ds didn't give her character the attention it deserved, but I'm still proud of her for winding up on the path she did-- seeing her channel her power and energy into wanting to heal and help others was just so good and was one of the few things I really Loved about the 5Ds ending.

oh, but like. Asuka Tenjoin and Aoi Zaizen are very close seconds for me!!! Aki just has a vice grip on my heart Favorite Villain: Okay, it's still technically Vector-- I think he's the most entertaining, well-written, and effective villain out of all of the ones we've seen so far, but... I also want to add Takuma Saiou and then all of Yliaster as honorable mentions?

As someone fond of tarot myself, I was naturally pretty intrigued by Saiou the first time I watched GX, but my attachment to him only grew the second time around where I actually got the chance to understand his character better. Plus, like... the visuals with him are fucking astounding and he's always so interesting to watch.

As for Yliaster, I just... really love how the big bad of 5Ds turned out to just essentially be a broken man desperate to save anyone and anything and three robotic reconstructions of the friends he'd lost. I still think the untwist with Z-ONE was stupid and I much prefer the idea of him and Yusei being the same person, but I'm still compelled by the other three-- well. Paradox less so, because we don't get a lot of Paradox lore, but. Aporia and Antinomy for sure.

ugh Yugioh has some damn good villains

Favorite Card: now that I actually play the TCG game...

Stardust is always going to be my favorite of all cards because it checks every box for me (my favorite YGO character's ace monster, space theme, what more could I want), but Aromaseraphy Rosemary has really become one of my aces in my best TCG deck! I'm still mastering irl plays, but I'm happy with my progress and I love my plant gang...

Favorite Episode: alright, here's where there's actually been a Lot of change, so...

Season 0: Episode 16: "Turnabout by a Hair's Breadth - The White-Robed Crisis" -- The more I think about this one, the more I love it; there's a... lot of corruption in the medical industry, and I've seen a lot of it firsthand, so just. Seeing a corrupt doctor get what he deserved at the end was cathartic, in a way? Plus, a Jounouchi-centric episode is always a good time.

Duel Monsters: Episodes 96-97: "Darkness vs. Darkness/One Turn Kill" -- this hasn't changed, I still love seeing Marik and Bakura bitch at each other for two whole episodes LMAO

GX: Episode 152: "Activate Super-Fusion! Rainbow Neos" -- This one hasn't changed and it likely never will-- I take so much pride in seeing Judai push forward, past the fear and guilt he's carrying, all to save Johan... it's cathartic and I never get sick of watching it.

5Ds: sweats. still all of Crash Town, but also episodes 137-147-- the Ark Cradle is one of my favorite parts of 5Ds and one of my favorite YGO arcs period, and even though each duel is a fucking gut punch, I love the emotional intensity and weight in each episode... It hurts but in a mostly good way

Zexal: Episode 143: "The Aloof Duelist 'Nasch': The Destined Final Duel" -- this one hasn't changed! Still hurts, still love it, I still weep over Ryouga Shark Kamishiro on a daily basis

Arc-V: Episodes 81-82: "Our Respective Battlefields/The Ultimate Falcon VS The Black-Feathered Thunder" -- Okay, honestly, this was hard because I... genuinely. really don't like Arc-V very much at all lol (it's just not my cup of tea, but more power to those who do like it!), but I thought this duel was a lot of fun! Shun is my absolute favorite from Arc-V and I really like the friendship he struck up with Crow a lot, so here we are

VRAINS (so far): Episode 25-26: "Virus Deck Operation/Three Draws Leading to Hope" -- honestly I am so biased because I just really love Blue Angel and I loved seeing her get a well-deserved victory like this lol. I'm not done with VRAINS, so this is probably gonna change, but anytime Blue Angel or Soulburner are on screen, I'm happy

Favorite Decks to Use: Aromages will always have my heart, but I adore Cyber Angels too! I'm building my Trickstar deck, my Synchron/Stardust deck (just waiting on Dawn of Majesty...), and my Magician Girls deck, too! Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, or Link?: Synchros my beloved... but also Ritual Years in fandom: I've been here for just a little over one year now! and I wuv it... apparently according to the supplementary novellas for advent children, geostigma happens to people who think they're about to die / (existential anxiety?). which i didn't really get, but you made me think of it just now, that mightve been close to how the original jenova-as-virus functioned too, and why it specifically chose to show up as peoples dead relatives rather than showing up as a lovable random dog like john carpenters the thing (1982) did. to induce existential anxiety.

Oh hey! I always thought she was just psychic-scouting with those, for information so she knew how to stage her appearance in person, and manifested as the beloved dead to get people’s guards down. But if emotional vulnerability was a factor in her being able to colonize, even as a more physically living organism than we ever see her, then that would totally be a boost! Yeah! XD As opposed to a friendly dog.

I’ve always been kind of fascinated by how Ifalna said Jenova came to them as a friend–like, how did she present herself, walking out of that enormous Planet-damaging crater looking almost but not quite like a woman of their people? Did she admit to being from space straight up, or obfuscate? Did she talk in mouth words or only psychically? How long did it take her to give herself away?

Did she have enough time to build social connections to have some Cetra on-side, even after getting outed as evil/responsible for spreading the Monster Transformation And Death Plague? Imagine. She might have had a cult.

I’m not really a fan of how Squeenix framed Geostigma. The movie was already really victim-blamey and shitty about depression and the novellas were worse (I have so many angry on this topic lol, especially as it intersected with their bad Tifa choices).

But considering Kadaj was able to tap the Geostigma kids for a low-level Reunion, even if they did have a Symbolic Drinking Thing first, it makes more sense for Jenova contamination to have been a necessary prereq for the disease. And that despair and other unhappiness provided an in for Jenova, an assailable point, I can definitely accept. That’s a pattern, honestly, that fits into how Cloud was pressured at the Crater and how Sephiroth’s breakdown progressed, and it makes sense considering Jenova is repeatedly indicated to have a psychic component.

…and one that operates via mechanisms similar enough to whatever the Cetra had going on in that line, that Aerith and Sephiroth both walk into Cloud’s head in quick succession, with similar styles of manifestation.

So it was probably even more useful against Cetra, most of whom who could presumably put up more of an active fight on that plane.
