Adrian returned to the mansion very late at night.

It seemed that he had dinner at the county.

After washing up with the Duchess, Raphine dried her hair with a soft cloth and changed into soft pajamas.

Sophia did not leave her daughter which was back after six years, from her arms.

She felt sorry for her daughter, who was much smaller and skinny than her peers because she couldn't eat properly.

So after Raphine came, the chefs at the duchy would get together and had meetings every day to plan a nutritious diet.

Raphine's cheeks had become plumper than when she first came, but she was still far from growing up to be her age.

As she entered the bedroom, Sophia whispered into Raphine's ear.

"Let's stay in this room with Mom until this week. Raphine's room will be completed next week."

"My room?"

When Raphine asked, Sophia smiled sweetly and nodded her head.

"Yeah, Raphine's room. Mom will also sleep in Raphine's room for a while."

"...."

Raphine followed Sophia while nodding her head and smiled.

Being in my mother's arms felt really good.

The first time I hugged my mother, it was very warm and soft.

It smelled good, and when I felt at ease at the warmth of the body.

Violet's arms were good, but still, the arms of a mother were more comfortable.

I was worried that my mother's arm would hurt, but for some reason I wanted to pretend that I didn't know.

'But then, Duke Aston, no... what about Dad?'

If Mom keeps sleeping with me, what will happen to Dad?

Raphine thought to herself, but then shook her head.

'Let's pretend to be oblivious for a while.'

I wanted to monopolize my mother for now. I was in trouble as I became more and more greedy.

I haven't been able to get the word 'Mom' to come out of my mouth yet, but I keep practicing in my head, so i think it will be possible soon?

'Would she really like it if I called her Mom?'

(Ruby) [If you call my name first before you call your mom, I can't be more than happy, baby.]

Ruby who was lying on the bed whispered to her.

'If you treat me like a baby, I won't talk to you.'

There was never a time when I feel hungry after coming here.

Shortly after eating, sweet milk made with honey and grain would be given, and cookies made with healthy ingredients were also given.

After eating, I would eat fresh fruit and drank a fresh juice.

To live without being hungry like that, now there is no reason to not act like a child.

I was really glad.

Knock, knock.

Then, a knock was heard on the door.

Raphine was startled for a moment and hid behind Sophia's back.

[Heh, look at how scared you are, you're still a baby...]

'Even adults can be scared!'

Clack, clack.

It was Adrian who opened the door and entered.

"Raphine, Oppa is here."

His pink hair was a little wet from taking a bath.

After confirming that it was Adrian, Raphine smiled widely.

"Mom, can I go to bed after playing with Raphine for a bit?"

"Of course, it's no problem."

He was the eldest son who was usually very proud.

Adrian seemed really happy to have a youngest sister that he didn't expect.

The Duchess smiled warmly and looked at Adrian and Raphine.

Adrian came up to the bed, showed her the toy he had brought, and shook it.

'No, do you think I'm a one-year-old baby?'

The problem is, the toys Adrian brought were not for a 6-year-old girl at all.

It was a rattle that newborn babies would like.

Raphine was a bit taken aback, but she pretended to be interested first.

Seeing this, Adrian looked very proud.

'Playing is hard.'

Rapine sighed inwardly and asked the question she wanted to ask.

"What about Violet?"

"Oppa took her home safely. She promised to come again tomorrow. Raphine, do you like Violet that much?"

"Yup."

"Why?"

Rapine squinted her eyes

'the one who really like Violet is actually...'

In the original novel, Adrian liked Violet since he was young.

Raphine pretended not to know.

"Because Violet Unnie is warm, smells good, has a kind voice, and gives me something delicious."

"Did she?"

"Yeah. I wish Violet Unnie lived here too."

She made a remark expressing her innermost intentions, but Adrian only smiled.

'Well... Adrian is still only ten years old.'

Raphine stared at Adrian. and said something straightforward.

"I hope Violet Unnie and Oppa marry each other."

She let go of her pride and spoke innocently like a child.

Adrian's expression got brighter.

"Mother, did you hear that? Raphine called me Oppa!"

"Yeah, I heard. oh my goodness...!"

Sophia put her hands on her chest and rejoiced.

Adrian laughed excitedly.

'No, excuse me. That's not what important-'

[Baby, it will be difficult if you do it your way... Don't just aim for him, it would be faster to aim for a guy named Zerkan.]

Raphine looked at the baby teddy bear with a disappointed expression.

Ruby was right.

'Yeah, Zerkan and Adrian have been close friends since they were a child. If we wait, won't he come to play?'

Raphine no longer ate carelessly like a strange beggar.

Because now she knows that she can eat whenever she want.

Although she felt that way, the dishes made by the chefs at the Ducal house are so delicious that she had no choice but to eat a lot.

In the middle of the meal, Sophia who was sitting on the left side of Raphine, wiped her lips.

And from time to time, Adrian, seated on the right, wiped her lips.

The twin brothers sitting on the opposite and the Duke sitting on the end, it felt like a large, transparent wall had been erected.

"Hyung is the only one who acted like a brother! That's cheap."

Luca and Lois grumbled quietly, but Duke Aston, who sat at the end, could not even talk.

After the meal, Raphine asked Adrian.

"She said se'd be here around lunch time."

"....Okay."

Adrian were right.

After eating dessert and reading a storybook that she wouldn't even hear, Violet came.

Raphine was a little disappointed that Violet came alone, but she didn't show it.

If Zerkan doesn't come, she can make him come.

"I want to take a walk with Violet Unnie only"

"Why?"

"Why!"

"Why?"

Adrian, Luca, and Lois greatly refuted Raphine's words.

"Kids, calm down...."

Sophia tried to stop the children.

My Biggest Problem With Bridgerton Season 3

I wanna start by saying if you wanna stay in the positive reviews for Season 3 I totally get it, I have been too because I do truly enjoy season 3 and seeing people tear it apart sucks a lot and can take the joy out of it for some.

My biggest issue with the season and take on what could've been done slightly better will be below 🥰

So I wanna start by laying out that I think the groundwork done in previous seasons really set up Penelope to have a story be flushed out and examined when it came time for her season. I think with Colin's character things were much more nuanced because it was a lot of internal work. But the main point is everything was lined up to have both of their characters reach good growth milestones within their season to wrap up their stories.

So going into season 3 I think for those of us who didn't read the books but knew the gist of what the story was about anticipated a certain level of attention put on Colin and how he had to come back into himself. He is a character known for trying to find himself, and we see it shown in trying to marry the first girl he remotely is interested in, trying to travel to find his purpose, trying to save his friends family, traveling again for more purpose, and then when he returns to the ton and has put on a facade. So when we finished the season my annoyance was that there was not much emphasis on Colin's journey.

They dove into Penelope's extensively, her battle to be seen, to have her purpose with Lady Whistledown and letting herself be loved. But Colin, we the viewer are so set up to misunderstand him this season which is why I don't blame anyone for not grasping his character at all because they don't give us a ton to work with.

Personally, as much as I adore Penelope's character and her importance to the narrative, her character got more growth and attention than Colin did and it was technically his season as he is the "Bridgerton" in question. I truly don't think that Jess or the writers knew what to do with him to get the audience to understand his story without centering it more around Penelope's perspective. I mean the big emotional moments of the story are centered around the Featheringtons, healing the relationship with her mother, healing the relationship with her sisters etc. Which is amazing I loved it, but also I felt like Colin was just kinda.... there. Especially in the second half.

So here is a list of a few things that I think could have improved the way we see Colin's emotional journey throughout the season (I will remind you again I have not read the book so take this with a grain of salt if it is super inaccurate to that).

Flashbacks: Both previous seasons give us flashbacks for the male leads, I think that it could've been useful here as well. A few that would have been nice to see would be Colin when he is younger with his brothers older and him feeling lost in the middle of them and Daphne. Colin and Pen when they were much younger laughing/speaking candidly to each other as they got older. Or flashbacks to Edmond and Violet because we know they were friends to lovers too, perhaps this is how Colin knows what love truly is.

Colin Traveling: I think a flashback to Colin on his travels and showing him receiving no letters from his family, alone in some city and trying to find comfort in a woman/ trying to find a connection but instead it's just sex/flirting and seducing someone. - I think this would have been much more impactful than having him in a brothel right away. He clearly doesn't love being there, he is there because he wants the connection that he lacks and this is the easiest way to get it. So if we got some context into why Colin comes back a different person, I think it would make it easier for people to understand this version of himself he puts on and make it more impactful when he stops acting this way and realizes he loves Pen.

Narrating: I know the only narrator we ever have is Lady Whistledown but I think it could have been an interesting parallel to have Colin narrate more of his journal entries as the Lady Whistledown discovery happens so that we can better understand how he feels about things. I've seen quotes from the book and it seems like a great deal of the realizations happen completely in Colin's head and we can always infer things based on actions and thats fine, but I think we would have had a deeper understanding of his inner workings if we had got this instead of Colin just sitting at his desk staring or writing and guessing at what he could be thinking/feeling based on past experience.

Give them more scenes: Everyone has been saying it but it's true. I think there are some spots that could have been longer conversations or just a conversation in general. For example: When Colin walks in on Penelope getting changed and we get that longing moment from Colin, I wish Pen would have asked him to stay or something of that essence, and then we could have gotten a heart to heart moment where Penelope lets Colin explain what he is feeling about this situation a little bit more, the war between loving her wanting her but also feeling betrayed. Even if it still ended in them not being on the same page and him sleeping on the couch I think it would have given us another scene that isn't as heated especially post their wedding and how it ended. They were almost coming to an understanding until the queen was there and I think having that raw conversation soon after would have been impactful for his character arc.

Last Convo with Violet Bridgerton: Something I was confused about in Ep08 was that we saw Colin prepare to sit his mother down and explain that Penelope is Whistledown after Pen send her a letter. And instead of seeing that we see the Featherington sisters excited by the details of their ball (fun but also I think the other conversation is more meaningful and that scene could have been shorter or just cut and instead explained when guests got to the ball). Violet is a major catalyst for the previous Bridgerton siblings and their story arcs. She is a binding force, a motivator, and usually the one that gives her child the words of advice/moment that is most needed. I know we got the Kate older sister moment about secrets with Colin which I loved, but I think for Colin's character who has long been a mamas boy sensitive one it would have hit hard to have one more scene with Mama Bridgerton. Especially because in part 1 we have two big conversations between the two of them: when she tells him that her and Edmund had the courage to ask in order to break from friends into lovers, and then when she tells him he's always been the sensitive one worrying for others and that Penelope might be getting proposed to. Both of those moments were catalysts for his next actions both emotionally and physically. So imagine a last conversation with her, him explaining not just who Pen is, but his own feelings hes been dealing with, letting the other person he has trusted with his feelings the most hear the worries that have plagued his mind for the past weeks since hes found out. Explaining his worry for Pen's safety, his families safety, and his feelings of betrayal and jealousy; Violet Bridgerton would absolutely know the perfect thing to say in that moment that helps get Colin over that last small obstacle. Because truly, we don't get Colin having a full heart to heart with anyone who knows who Whistledown is besides Eloise, and Eloise just asks if he can ever forgive Pen, but we need someone older, someone Colin trusts to give him advice and hold these complicated feelings and honestly Eloise was never going to be that character for him. We needed Mama Bridgerton, to lovingly hold her sons thoughts and feelings and tell him that it is okay that he felt betrayed by the person he knew best, that it's okay that he is perhaps a little jealous of her success, but that it was also okay to love her and forgive her. But also re-affirm to Colin that she is proud of him and he is capable of the success and purpose he strives for too. As well as put Colin's mind at ease in terms of how she accepts Penelope as Lady Whistledown, having his mothers approval of it may help him accept it too. Violets approval, Violets words of understanding and assurance would help untangle the confusing thoughts that then lead Colin to that final confession of love. It would make that scene all the more impactful knowing then more about the feelings that tangled through him that we are now privy to because he spoke about them to his mother, we would now understand more fully the emotional journey he had to go on to get to that point of forgiveness and understanding.

Make up scene: I think I speak for most of the #polin community when I say that we needed a longer makeup sex scene. I think with this new found understanding, post his admission of love and purpose that was so heartfelt and beautiful, it would have been all the better with a slightly longer scene where we perhaps got a few more lines of dialogue with these two. We needed a true makeup scene where they are giggly and happy that things are finally good and they can just be truly in love with each other once again without the angst between each other. I think this would have been very satisfying story wise when taking into account that (imaging that flashback scene to Colin on his travels) Colin starts so disconnected from who he is and very lonely, but would then end having been connected to his purpose and to the person he loves who loves him just as equally.

Ultimately I love Colin and his character and I do believe we got a lot of great moments with him, however I can't help but have wished to have more. I hope that next season we get a cute, sexy, domestic side story with him and Pen where we can see him be the Colin "my wife" Bridgerton that we all love.

everything would be swell if you didn't get in the body of the unnamed saintess that died by the hands of one of the male leads in the novel. yeah... you got stuck in an 18+ yandere romance novel.

you didn't know which one was worse, getting stuck in the body of a character that'll die, or being in an 18+ novel with yandere love interests.

just... deep breaths, y/n, you might give yourself a panic attack by thinking of it too much, just think of a plan to take your mind off of it.

"ah", you suddenly, but quietly, struck out. "why not just seduce one of the male leads?" you smiled, already thinking about the man you knew you'd have an easy time to seduce.

arden burimm, a priest-like knight that worked in the same same temple you currently resided in, shy and timid on the outside, but actually rather obsessive and possesive over his obsession, which in the story was the female lead, claudia lennari.

he was the perfect candidate, you just hope he wouldn't move on from his obsession with the female lead to you, it'd be quite tiresome.

anyways!~ it's time to set my little plan to motion, you cheerfully thought, getting up from your bed and grabbing a black shawl, draping it around you before going and quitely opening the door.

"Ah, mister obelon, do you know where brother arden is? i was thinking of talking to him today.." you questioned the guard next to your door, masking your bored expression with a more innocent and cutesy one while tilting your head downwards on the side.

"Oh! yes, grand saintess y/n, he's near the gates of the temple, do you want me to go inform him of my lady requesting his presence?" the older man, obelon, hurriedly answered, it seemed like he didn't expect you to peek your head out of the door and tell him something.

grand saintess. a title that's only granted to saintesses that worked for multiple years, being seen as seniors and mentors to younger saintesses. that title was too holy for someone as lowly as you.

"yes, please, but before you can do that, could it be possible for you to go to the chef and tell her to prepare multiple cookies and get the gardener to bring me some yellow roses? you can always get servants to bring the things to me." you "shyly" asked, puffing out your cheeks to maximise whatever charms you had.

of course, the man nodded before running off to do the things you requested, what a gullible fool. oh well, whatever he does after that doesn't matter to you, at least your plan is still going along!

Does your OC struggle to contain their baser emotions, such as lust, aggression, or greed? What helps keep these feelings in check (if anything)?

Aldreda has formally met impulse control, but they didn't get on, lol. A lot of the deeper aspects of her personality & motives are kept super, super deep, but everything more base is very "what you see is what you get." If she wants something she takes it, if she wants someone she let's them know & goes about trying to seduce them, if she wants to commit a wanton act of violence then God help you. She's not struggling to control shit, she's straight up indulging. Drinking so fully from the cup of life that she can't even tell she's overflowing already. It's a little bit "this is encouraged by the lifestyle of regularly pillaging to float your standard of living" & little bit "pure copium."

That's not all to say she can't contain herself, but it's kind of (to those on the outside of House Farwynd, or--even more insularly--her crew) arbitrary & unpredictable when she'll decide to rein herself in. If it benefits Aldreda more to control the baser aspects of herself, or if it goes against everything that ever got drilled into her head about how certain things simply work, then she holds back & controls herself quite well. Like, she has the willpower & the ability, she just actively chooses to not engage those things because she has way more fun & immediate benefit being a horny little violence goblin.

Which experience of loss or bereavement has most affected your OC?

So this is a two way tie, I would say. Losing one of her older brothers (who was also her favorite) set her on the path to become the Aldreda we know & love today, & losing her youngest/final brother has forced her to confront that a lot of what happened to her after the favorite brother died was traumatic. I touched on the stuff with her favorite brother (Orwen) here, but I'll go over it a bit because I love info dumping about my seal woman & 2k is a lot to read/re-read to pick up on The Orwen Lore & the implications.

Orwen was 10 years older than Aldreda, & was sort of the only one who really took an interest in her/cared that she looked up to him & thought he was cool. So he spent time with her, he taught her to fight, he took her sailing, he told her all kinds of stories & would hold back little bits of plunder from raids when they presented tribute to Lord Alfric because he yoinked it specifically for his little sister. Their dad had been steadily losing his sons before Orwen died, but when he & 2 of the others got caught in a storm & died it was the most at one time, & was also when Lord Alfric just started hemorrhaging sons. This was what turned Aldreda towards "I have to live up to what Orwen was in my mind because I am 13 & think he was perfect, & no one else here is going to live up to what I believe my big brother was like as a raider," which ultimately morphed into "I have to replace all the sons my dad is losing because he can keep making my baby brothers his heirs but they aren't gonna be ready to go do real raiding, & even when they are they're gonna be garbage because they won't be as good a person as I am." [The bar for being a good person is on the fucking ground, btw]

I mention her youngest brother here & here, but I am once again going to elaborate. So Rhys, sweet little baby boy Rhys, he was a full 20 years younger than Aldreda. Rhys was also the last possible attempt at a male heir because Lord Alfric Farwynd’s youngest salt wife is in her 40s now & he's fucking old, his dick isn't working consistently anymore.

Rhys is the son who was explicitly murdered, & there's a pretty limited pool of people who could have poisoned him with an even smaller pool of people with a motive. It got floated around a bit that Aldreda might have done it, but she knows it was her cousin Westley. Like, he admitted it to her. He admitted his whole "get rid of your remaining brothers so I can marry you & become Lord of Lonely Light to right the wrongs done to my dad, & also I'll get so many salt wives for us to share bc I spied on you fucking a woman one time & I'm into that shit (& also not threatened when it's another woman)" plan to her because he's delusional & thought she'd be okay with all that. So Rhys dying has just kind of made her process & acknowledge that "my cousin didn't actually have my best interests at heart & he was grooming me actually & maybe he never really cared about me at all" (she's not processing it in the most sophisticated or modern sense, like, she's more upset he was trying to prime her to get taken political advantage of than the fact he was preying on her from the age of 13). And her actually being aware of that shit has her as fucked up as losing her favorite brother had her.

My Review:

If you like heroes that say things like "I would never let you leave me" and "You will change your mind" go ahead and give this book a try. From what I've seen there are two different editions, the first being more rape-y and the second, which I read, is less so but is still dubious in places.

The premise is that Sophia is trying to both dig up dirt on the Bow Street Runners and to destroy Sir Ross Cannon's heart and reputation by seducing and then betraying him in revenge for her brother's untimely death. That lasts for maybe 50 pages before quickly being replaced by adoration and reverence for the Proto - Police. It seems like most of Sophia's thoughts and on a repeat of praising Ross's perfect integrity. This book is much more of an Employer / Servant romance than it is an Enemies to Lovers.

I came to the Bow Street Runners hoping for a romance with some pre-sherlockian mystery and intrigue. What I got was romance with a lot of Reverence and Awe for the Noble cause and Heroic Efforts of the Proto - Police. *bleh* At one point Sophia says that Ross is busy "dispersing a hive of vagrants" - So you'll telling us that your man is harassing homeless people and destroying their makeshift shelters - no thanks. Ross does support her when her past comes back to make problems which is nice. But for most of the book his protectiveness is over the top, except that as it is presented in book - her leaving the house without a male escort does lead to trouble. Safe to say I won't be finishing the series. I have like some of Kleypas' books, but now that I’ve read more, I think that the pattern for me is that I like her more recent work, and her older books make me grumble.

All right, then!

I had an AtLA OC named Nuying; she was the Earth King's aunt but basically just a sketch--she was a satellite to a main OC, her son.

Dr. Naar! I love Dr. Naar. He is a doctor, he is very firm in his ethics, he treats all comers regardless of allegiance (which is why he refuses to Officially join the Rebellion). Also it would be nice if he would. Like. Confirm his species for me??? (He's either a Human or a Besalisk but will not say one way or another. Sigh.)

Nikolai is another Star Wars OC. He's Kallus's nephew, the middle of three boys. He's an art history nerd, and runs away because his father is...well...Awful. And his mother (Kallus's sister) isn't all that much better. He and his brothers figure he might actually be better off with Uncle Alexsandr, even with the treason and the war and so on. He does eventually have some contact with his mother, but never speaks to his father again. He is very close to his brothers, though. He marries a guy who is just as nerdy as he is, in a related but not necessarily the same field.

For my original stuff--

Nolani is the princess Lonura is in love with (from the Ls answer). She's her mother's eldest child and therefore second in line to the throne for most of the main part of the story. She does have a husband, who over time becomes her best friend; they married to seal a treaty. There were some. Communication issues surrounding that, and she and Lonura briefly split up. She is a hopeless romantic; before she started seeing Lonura, she had a string of brief relationships, falling in and out of love pretty quickly. She's very devoted to her family, especially her brother and sister, but tends to be very aware of her position in her mother's shadow.

Nida is a posthumous character, the wife of the...for lack of a better term, Disc One Final Boss. Her family has ties to a resistance movement, she was sent in to hopefully seduce the King to manipulate and eventually murder him as soon as she had an heir and a spare, who would hopefully still be young enough for her to serve as their regent and raise them to effect real change. But she fell in love with her target along the way, and at the last minute, chose not to kill him, partly because of that and partly because she--not incorrectly--thought that the alternative would lead to a bloody civil war, with her children caught in the middle. She does what she can over the next couple of decades, dying about seven or eight years before the main storyline opens. Her oldest son is the actual Big Bad; her youngest son is one of the main heroes.

Neiali comes from the same universe as Larien and Landelye. Neiali is the youngest of the High Priest's three children; older brothers Ahnrel and Sefalin are the main characters (Sefalin being Del's lover). Neiali is offstage for most of what I've written, trying to track down the missing Prince Idan for reasons of Complicated Politics. Neiali is also possibly a trans woman? This has not been confirmed; the rest of Neiali's family is unaware and refers to Neiali using male pronouns/terms. (If Neiali doesn't pick an entirely new name, her name would be something along the lines of Neialyi, because Weird Ways Of Marking Gender In Names, lol. Feminine names in this universe have a glide/y in the last syllable (Landelye; Metanrye, Kahleny).

Neremyi is Larien's aunt, the mother of his rival king in Nandere. Her husband made no secret of his resentment, and after her sons were about ten, they didn't spend much time with her. She built her own network of support and political alliances within her husband's--now her son's--court; she's mostly an observer for now, but she has some long-term plans, including a few candidates for her son's consort.

Nahrenyi is the High Priest's secretary, and a quiet schemer. Not actually against him or for any other faction; she actually thinks Jemairin is the leader the Church needs right now. But she...manages things, makes sure he doesn't get too bogged down in one issue and forget the others. Quiet and subtle, she likens herself to a gardener.

[that particular story is currently known as 'Untitled Intrigues Story'; there is a Lot of Scheming, lol]
