Uhhhhhhhh Sburb AU!! This was more of an excuse to classpect and make sprites, so don’t ask me questions about plot details because I put like zero thought into it. Tsumugi probably had something to do with setting up the session, and she’s hiding her real title and the fact it’s not her first session. Baby Kiibo is a robot baby because I thought that was the funniest option.

Classpect thoughts under the cut if you really want:

Immediate caveat: I mention speculative stuff here like unconfirmed active/passive class pairs and inversion theory. If you don’t like those things or otherwise disagree with the titles I gave people that’s fine but just know I’m not super interested in debating about it and won’t reply.

So, to start out with I wanted to make the 8 of them a session, so I needed no overlaps in class or aspect and one Time + one Space. I also wanted to have Kaito and Kokichi as opposing aspects. In general, I think of a Title as kind of the end of your assigned character arc, so depending on your level of maturity/introspection at the start, it can seem either really obvious or really unintuitive. I tried to base them off of the hypothetical chapter 6/survivor versions of characters, since those (plus maybe the chapter 5 deaths) of the ones that get a full arc in DR canon.

Immediately Tsumugi seemed like a deadringer for Space, not so much because of the literal physics-related stuff but because of its associations with creation/narratives and setting things up for other people to act. I made her Sylph of Space here, but that's a facade. She's actually a Muse of Space who participated in past session(s) and wants to watch how things play out.

Based on the Extended Zodiac description, Kaito or Kaede has to be time, but Kokichi CANNOT be Space by any stretch of the imagination. I made her Heir of Time with the interpretation of Heir as someone who invites change/influences of/through their aspect. Time is also associated with music and death, which is both fitting and a little mean. (I can also see Kaede as Breath outside of having to have someone be Time.)

So moving onto Kaito and Kokichi, I was considering Hope vs Rage (belief vs doubt, possibility vs restrictions), but 1) Rage is defined partially by hatred of lies despite otherwise sounding Kokichi-ish (that alone could be interesting, with the possibility of a negative/reverse title or else giving him Hope and Kaito Rage for the unexpected swerve........) 2) I really wanted to give Hope to Kiibo. So instead I went with Heart and Mind (emotion vs logic, intuition vs planning, identity/motivation vs action/decisiveness).

Kokichi is Thief of Mind for taking away other people's decisions for his own purposes but also for generally "stealing" things (e.g., the Mastermind Role, narrative importance in general, along with literal items) through his own cleverness. Vs Kaito, a Knight of Heart, who uses his constructed identity as a weapon to face challenges. I'm also a fan of inversion theory, so I think at low points they'd both trend towards Page of Heart (grows powerful late in the narrative based on his own ego/identity) and Rogue of Mind (taking choices/agency/logic away from people for their own good), respectively.

I always wanted Kiibo to be Hope since 1) Ult. Hope Robot 2) big on possibilities/faith but can be a little self-centered. I went with Bard at least partially to make a "guess we know whether he has a dick or not now!" joke, but I also think "inviting destruction through Hope, inviting destruction of (false) hope" is pretty spot on for chapter 6 Kiibo. Like, as the camera/audience surrogate, he's been forced into passively leading the others to despair, not to mention how the audience takes him over to destroy the hope of ending the show. But Kiibo ends up reversing this and helping destroy the audience's faith in Danganronpa, destroying the whole academy in accordance with the vote. (Sidenote: I wonder if Kiibo gets taken over by Horrorterrors and goes grimdark? Or if he's just really, really susceptible to orders from his Exile)

Shuichi, Page of Void, was another one that immediately came to mind. Like, "starts off weak but becomes really strong/important by the end" is Shuichi's thing! Also, counterpart to Kaito's Knight. And Void is all about secrets, mystery, etc. From the Extended Zodiac: "Where others might be compelled to go out and seek answers, the Void-bound lean more toward casting doubt on what is already considered understood. They don't take much on faith and would rather live in a state of confusion- than believe something that might be untrue or bow to intellectual authority... At their best, Void-bound are wise, intuitive, and vibrant. At their worst, they can be dismissive, indecisive and apathetic." 

I had considering Light, for seeking out knowledge/truth, but Shuichi's character arc ends on "fuck you, I refuse to play. You all get nothing more from us" and learning to live with ambiguity, so I think he's way more Void. But, again, inversion would be Thief of Light, so selfishly taking away knowledge/importance from others.

Speaking of Light, I made Miu Mage of Light. Mage is like, active Seer, seeking out knowledge for yourself (vs advising others) and Light is luck, knowledge, and also importance/plot relevance. As an inventor, Miu keeps innovating and figuring things out, plus she's very motivated by her own importance to the world. She wants to be seen more than anything else and loves being smarter than those around her. Also: "At their best, the Light-bound are resourceful and driven. At their worst they can be fussy, pedantic, and insensitive." Inversion is Heir of Void, so "inviting change via hiding things" or "changing what's kept secret", which suits Miu when plotting murder.

Finally, Maki is Prince of Blood. Blood is trust, bonds, relationships, stubbornness, duty, obligation (vs freedom, change, choices) so "someone who breaks bonds/destroys relationships" but also "someone who destroys using/motivated by duty/relationships". Like, Maki is inherently a fracture point in the group because of her talent and then directly breaks the group apart and sabotages her relationships with the others in chapter 5, but also she's deeply motivated by her bonds to others in all of her destructive actions (protectiveness for orphanage/friend, love for Kaito). This sound super negative, but I think this is also the Maki who commits to destroying the institution of Danganronpa in chapter 6. Sometimes you have to be decisive and cut bad relationships out of your life.

Inversion would be Sylph of Breath, so "healing via change" or "encouraging growth towards freedom", which you can argue is sort of the way Kaito wants her to go? But she just doesn't. Idk, for better or worse, I think Maki is very aware of who she is and how people related to her, so even at her worst she's true to herself, vs, say, Kaito or Kokichi, who act "ooc".

GQ & ADLAD CPN

@accio-victuuri has a post about some of the CPN from the GQ feature on GG. There are a couple more CPNs that I wanted to talk about because - with the exception of a couple of tidbits - I haven't seen turtles talking about some things that really stood out to me.

Both of the tidbits being discussed by BXG are based on fake rumors from the past.

Godly Back

Turtles feel that the backless jacket might be what was referred to in the recent LRLG rumor (Apparently wangwang senbei can be a homophone sounding like 'godly back').

In this context, "You saw what I wore, can you please choose something normal" becomes hilarious. 😅

If he really was talking about GG's back, well... DD, the rest of the internet agrees with you given the hotsearch that was trending on both the main and entertainment hotsearches. 😅

GGDD and ADLAD

This one I wanted to dig more deeply into because it's connected to a few different CPN from a long time ago, and a lot of turtles might not be aware of all these connections.

In the GQ interview GG mentioned he was really nervous for the first performance of ADLAD.

At the time a LRLG rumor came out with some exchanges between GG and DD in the days leading up to that first show. GG talks about being nervous, DD and his staff video call him to wish him Jiayou, and at one point - presumably the last time they talk before that first show - DD video calls with GG and closes off by giving him a high 5.

The day after the first show, GG posted on Weibo.

At the time there was a lot of speculation about what that second photo was. One of the theories was that GG had screen capped DD's hand high-5-ing his phone. Some fans even tried doing that themselves (screencapping their hands up against their phone cameras to see what would happen) with somewhat similar results - photos that were an ombre of pale pink to red.

Some additional CPN

When I saw GG talking in GQ about the first ADLAD show and how nervous he was and I saw turtles looking back over the LRLG rumors from that time, I decided to look over those rumors myself. I found a couple things there that really hit me in the gut, but which I haven't seen other turtles discussing.

Magician DD

One thing that stood out to me from the ADLAD LRLG rumor was when DD told GG he could do magic, and told his staff that only GG believed him.

Back in 2021 a series of pages called the 300G were released, which claimed to be transcripts of some of the best unseen moments from The Untamed BTS (300GB of BTS footage was reportedly sold to BXG fansites). They were translated by an all-star team of some of the best BXG translators and overall fandom MVP on Twitter back in the day (god I miss those days of Twitter 😢).

Disclaimer: We must remember that these are unconfirmed transcripts. As far as I know, none of the footage that could substantiate these transcripts has ever been released, so it could just be someone's fanfic.

Anyway, my absolute favorite moment in those transcripts was an exchange between GG and DD, when GG had been struggling with nailing a scene. My synopsis from a post I made about GG and DD's personalities a while back:

GG is having a hard time getting a take right for a scene, and the director tells him to take a break. DD scoots over to where GG is resting and holds out his two fists facing downward in front of GG and asks him to pick one for a surprise. GG agonizes a bit over which one to choose, but finally picks a hand. DD gives GG a mysterious smile and asks GG to hold out his hand. GG does, and DD opens his fingers over GG’s palm. There’s nothing there. DD says, “I’ve just given you some luck, so that on your next take, you will succeed.” GG asks what is in the other hand and DD turns it over and opens it and says, “See, there’s nothing there! Zhan-ge is so good, you guessed right on the first try!” GG rolls his eyes at DD and says, “WYB, in your heart, do you think I’m more than 10 years old?” On the next take, GG nails the scene.

So it's just possible that DD and GG have a long history of this type of exchange, of DD giving GG his 'magical' support. GG is just superstitious enough that it might genuinely help him, and anyway, who could fail to be soothed by such sweet magic? 🥹

GG and Sleep

Another thing that stood out to me is when GG talked about being unable to sleep. Honestly this part of the interview really got me because I have always struggled with extreme insomnia and I could totally feel his pain. I've tried so many of the things that he's tried, and have had similarly mixed/poor results.

Anyway, aside from the aromatherapy candle CPN that's been heavily discussed in the fandom, what stood out to me CPN-wise was the fact that LRLG rumors have (I think this has happened at least a few times, but I can't recall specifics), featured moments where it seemed like GG and DD left their phone/video calls active to keep each other company when the other one was sleeping.

In the ADLAD LRLG rumor there's a moment when it seems like GG might be having difficulty sleeping and DD keeps him company.

Find someone who will keep you company over the phone while you try to take a nap. 🥹

Firecrackers

Just another quick thing from that same rumor, DD talks about wanting to set off some firecrackers for GG, which... ugh, so sweet. My god.

His staff encourages him to do it, and he says he will be 'taken away' if he does (maybe get into trouble, likely exaggerated a bit), and his staff says he'll cover for DD.

In Chinese culture (and in fact, in many cultures), firecrackers are considered very lucky because they are believed to drive away evil spirits and bad luck (which is why they're such a feature of Spring Festival celebrations).

GG and DD always look out for each other, and this CPN around ADLAD and around GG's sleep struggles really hit me hard. I love them both so damn much!

efforts to rid my dash of the rpf blogs have been going well, but, alas, there are always more, so i’m gonna get my thoughts out about the most recent things i’ve seen.

so i was looking at a post i very much agree with, only to see this in the comments:

firstly, where did op mention david/michael shipping? they didn’t. at all. they were talking about the boundless “analysis” (stalking), and how it’s creepy no matter its target; whether it’s predicting the end of a relationship, finding “evidence” of baby trapping or abuse, or insisting on an unconfirmed relationship. all of this is weird.

it’s still equally as weird when the subjects of this wild speculation are f/f or not same sex. i can think of multiple heterosexual examples (it happened in the doctor who fandom, also in the house fandom, although these incidents were both well before my time. i’m using old instances because they’re less likely to ignite a fight, but there are current ones too). our discomfort with this insanity has nothing to do with the shipping being m/m. like nothing. it has everything to do with the fact that none of us know anything about these people, yet you act as though you’re their closest friends and gossiping with them behind the high school bleachers.

i am not assuming that they’re straight, most of us aren’t assuming that. i’m not assuming one way or the other at all until they explicitly describe the situation, which they probably won’t, because their lives are likely far less exciting than you all imagine, and they have no obligation to tell us anything at all.

with regards to the “it’s not speculation when they say it themselves”: georgia’s ig caption genuinely seems like it’s part of a bit to me. like this is totally something that can and does happen platonically, all the time. if she posted something on her story saying “yes david and michael are in a relationship together,” then that’d be enough for me. but everything we’ve seen thus far is just as (or actually far more) likely to be platonic. her caption was worded ambiguously, in a way that’s frequently used to describe friends with no romantic interest in each other. regardless, they know each other’s boundaries, we don’t.

oh, and, since it’s perfectly fine to make up your own “interpretations” of real people existing objectively outside the realm of your perception: my interpretation of the rpf blogs is that it’s pure wishful thinking. you guys see characters with a strong attraction, played by 2 people with a strong connection, and superimpose your desire for the characters’ relationship onto the real people. but, since you don’t see the actors’ lives in the way you see a characters’ story, you pick apart every snippet that you can find and piece together a narrative. it’s fine when you make up a fun story or write a made up fic on ao3, i don’t have any real ethical objections to fictional rp shipping. however, you guys go way beyond that, and you present your story as an investigation and as an analysis of real life.

that’s what’s creepy. that’s what we don’t like. the absolute worst part is when you go after the kids. sincerely fuck off with that. who do you think you are that you can speculate that david and michael wanted to leave their partners but that georgia and anna “strategically” got pregnant. i have seen people saying that georgia and anna are baby trappers, abusive to their partners and kids, stupid, and manipulative. i have seen people using these exact words to describe georgia and anna in relation to their parenting and the existence of their children. i have seen people say that their children hate them. none of that is excusable no matter what it’s presented as. at the very least, leave their children out of it, please.

I don’t know why but I feel like Luke has lost himself a little in the chaos of being the leading man, and the worldwide tour. I can only speak for myself but I have ADHD like me, and a lot of chaos going on around me sends me on a disruptive path.

This is pure speculation as obviously I don’t know, and never will, but it just feels like Colin’s storyline ie, having a glow up, and travelling has also become very like Luke’s. He knew he was going to be the lead, so started making changes - eating better and investing in a stylist. Along the way he splits up with a long time partner, and I can only speak for myself here, but I not too long ago split with my partner of 6 years, and I’ve needed drastic change in my life. Again this echos what’s been happening imo.

I can only compare, but I do remember seeing people going mad for Corey and India during the press run for Queen Charlotte. I do remember the former saying in an interview that he had a girlfriend, perhaps at the end of the run where he could say things? It just seemed then that he was putting firm boundaries and the speculation was becoming too much for him and India, I do remember comments of them looking distant and purposely standing apart, and the hate he received for bringing her along to a Netflix event in Brazil.

Luke and Nicola had six months of this, and no one will ever know what truly went on, but from the outside looking in it seemed that they were really supporting each other and getting on. This is where the speculation reaches fever pitch - they were very touchy feeling with each other, and would often hold hand. Luke sometimes even seeking Nic out and grabbing her hand to calm his nerves (he says he suffers with anxiety) it’s sweet that they can calm each other down. Nicola does seem like the more confident of the two. All this is happening whilst in the background he has a girlfriend, great. I wish them well, but it’s all sneaky. She attends some events low key - the New York premiere. I do wonder if he wants to be open, keep it private or he’s advised to by Netflix. I don’t think the streamer can actually make them keep them quiet? Corey being open about his relationship says not?

Now I don’t agree with the timing of the hard launch, that’s my problem and not his. I do agree with fans saying that the timing is not good, he could have waited and it gone down so much better. I do feel like it’s slightly disrespectful to Nic, who carried that promo tour imo. People vibed more with him than her. I sincerely hope it was his choice to go public, and it was not forced. I know she was in Milan with him, but it does feel strange that her Mum was with them; your daughter hasn’t seen her boyfriend for a while, and you tag along with them? Feels a little strange to me. Maybe that’s just me, and add in the unconfirmed rumours that the Mum liked fatshaming comments about Nic.

I’m certainly not one to hate on another women for simply being in a relationship, and I really don’t like that side of the fandom that has come out. Regardless, I hope that Luke (and Nicola) keep their feet on the ground, and have people around them who keep them on a healthy and productive path in life.

I do think that it would be hard to navigate the onslaught of fame that Luke would be going through, and some people are able to handle it better than others (Nicola being amazing at it). You can tell that Luke struggles with the fame and knowing what to do and what to say.

I do think he made a lot of mistakes in regards to his relationship and how the whole thing transpired (which really kicked off on New Years). But I will give him a bit of grace since he may not have realized the impact his season of Bridgerton was going to have on people.

It is very funny all of the parallels that can be seen in regards to Colin and Luke, I really wonder if he has admitted that to himself or has even realized?

This may be a hot take, and while I enjoyed Queen Charlotte, I didn't love it. I also didn't follow any of the promotion in regards to Corey and India.

I have said it here before, but I never thought that Luke and Nicola were anything other than friends. You can clearly see the bond that they share, and I can understand why people thing they are more. While I thought their handholding was adorable and you can see the comfort that it gives Luke (and even Nicola), it never occurred to me that they were dating because of that.

I have been working for many years, and I have insanely close relationships with coworkers. Coworkers understand a part of you that nobody ever will! And then to top that off with them having to do intimacy scenes, I can understand why they share a bond (that nobody will probably understand).

The paparazzi pictures on the premier night were terribly timed. It wasn't a good look and I completely understand why there was so much outrage. Then adding fuel to the fire with Milan. I guess they thought that since they were spotted once and it was out in the public, lets just lean into it. Definitely the wrong move! (again another mistake in regards to how they have handled their entire relationship!).

I always thought they just said that when Knuckles was introduced and then dropped it until the Sonic Adventure arc, but I guess not

If you don’t know of him, then you probably will know of how the echoes of his character influenced the franchise. It’s speculated that he may have been the inspiration for the Archie Sonic character Dr. Finitevus, who in turn was possibly the inspiration for the Sonic Chronicles character Imperator Ix. And while he’s based on an entirely different egg-laying Australian mammal, it’s possible that IDW Sonic’s Dr. Starline was inspired by a soup of all of the above characters. So there you have it! A lot of stuff in different parts of the Sonic franchise have (admittedly unconfirmed) origins that could stem back to this one echidna guy There’s also something on the wiki about how he might be associated with the Wechnia glitch, which I don’t really know enough about to comment on. I always just thought he was coloured white to show he was an older echidna, along with that face scruff. And I’m not sure if Kitching knew about the Wechnia glitch? There’s probably a lot of folks out there more knowledgeable on that than me tho But who exactly is Dr. Zachary? He’s only just turned up, after all. Given that all those other characters I’ve mentioned who might’ve been inspired by him are villains, you can probably guess how this is going to go. Regardless, we’ll get back to these two next issue

Nancy Drew Season 4 Trailer Part 1

There’s a lot to unpack in this 30 second whirlwind so I’m planning to do a series of posts. I will do my best to tie every scene back to BTS content, but everything is still speculation and unconfirmed. It’s going to get spoilery so bow out if you want to remain blissfully ignorant - which absolutely has its advantages: Riley’s a fan.

We start with Birdie and Jesse holding hands and calling Nancy for help from the woods! Kennedy confirmed they are a couple (the cutest!). I love that for them (and us).

Birdie (from the 2x13 Moonstone Island episode) is in Eps 3 and 12, so it’s one of those two. Geraldine Chiu (Jesse) posted from on-set during each of those episode’s filming, so she is in the same two episodes. Ep. 3 is shaping up to be epic (more in a later post), and 12 is set in spring (with a beach scene they had to film in the snow). If Birdie & Jessie’s relationship is established in Ep. 3 maybe this is 12, but we’ll have to wait and see!

Next we have Nancy with her trusty flashlight even when she’s dressed fancy - classic Nancy Drew!

What is she spying? ZOMBIES OF COURSE!

They’re in old timey clothes, and presumably they’re the corpses from the graves that were dug up (or they rose on their own!). The big season long mystery is dealing with the sins of the town’s past - just love the mix of humor and horror.

Our first glimpse of the crew! Now what episode is this? I think it’s Episode 1. Nick, Nancy, and Bess are dressed up - we saw BTS photos of Maddison with that purple dress in her trailer, and Tunji in the pink shirt, both from mid-July when they were most likely filming Ep. 1.

We also saw Maddison’s story during the filming of episode 1 heading into the creepy woods in a cart with Tunji, Alex, and a blond woman that we now know is Megan Munro. She’s only listed in episode 1 on IMDB. She’s credited as “Young Actress” so not clear what her part is - I think this could be her. As she’s not recurring I don’t think she’s the new police chief (I’d love a woman in that role though), or a serious love interest for Ace or Nick. She may be a short term LI for Ace or Nick, or maybe she’s an as yet uncredited actress. Still a mystery!

Ace’s hair is LONG - this is how he looked when he showed up to set. They trimmed it later - it’s noticeably shorter by Episode 3 (keeping in the tradition of Ace’s ever changing hair). Also he’s not dressed up, which makes sense as he wasn’t in that BTS photo, and Nancy’s probably keeping her distance. Still manifesting Ace in a suit in S4…

If you are wondering why George is absent, Leah didn’t arrive to set for the first part of filming of Episode 1 - she was still filming another project. So George must be working or studying or otherwise occupied.

what’s the 123 theory

Anon, pls forgive me for this incredibly late reply. Your ask got buried under a mountain of spam submissions 😭

You'll have to stick with me for a second because I'll admit that this theory does sound tiny but delulu, but the 123 theory is unconfirmed speculation that JK used to share things using a 1:23 timestamp when it pertained to Tae. Back when BTS were more active on social media, JK used to post song recommendations and covers, and several of the songs were paused at the 1:23 mark consistently enough that fans started picking up on a pattern.

And when he was asked about the significance of the timestamp at a fansign (the options given were 1) Taehyung's birthday 2) no meaning) and he wrote in his own answer that only he knew the meaning of it. So despite not giving an explanation of what it is, he did acknowledge that it meant something.

I also think it’s worth it to note that the “pattern” was obvious enough that other JK shippers created their own theories around it, but during the famous May 2020 TK live, when TK were singing along to “Never Not”, Tae stopped the track at the 1:23 mark both times they sang it, which gives me the impression that, at the very least, Tae is also aware of the significance.

There are actually some other TK related things that can be speculatively linked to this theory, but I can’t remember them off the top of my head. I know that Kayla has an extensive archive of all things TK and I’m pretty sure you can search the #123 theory on their blog to find out more!

Three days. It took Aurora three days to come to the realization that Agent Gibbs did not like her-- more so than the other two agents that replaced his team. With every step she took and every word she spoke, his disdain for her grew more and more apparent. She did her best to ignore his scrutinizing glare, but she could swear he knew her secret.

Michelle told her she needed to stay late to work. She stayed too, assuring her it would be better if they left together, but she wasn’t going to leave her here by herself. As Michelle worked, Aurora kept busy at her desk, keeping her in her peripheral at all times.

Sudden ringing startled both women. Aurora picked up her cell, frowning when she saw the caller. She spared a quick glance at Michelle before she answered.

“Tobias? Why are  you calling--”

“Aurora, turn on ZNN.” His tone was sharp enough to cut through glass. He and her father had worked together several times before her father retired. He was a frequent presence in her life, more so than her own father. It was sad to say that they had a much closer bond for it.

“Wha--”

“Now.” She stood from her seat and grabbed the remote off Michelle’s desk. She flipped through the channels until the spotty helicopter footage on ZNN was on screen. She sat down on Gibb’s desk and turned the volume up. “Did you find it?” His question fell on deaf ears as she watched the camera zoom out, showing a burning SUV with two indistinguishable figures nearby. The scene before her was absolute carnage.

“We’re getting reports that an explosion has rocked a neighborhood in the vicinity of the federal plaza. Authorities have closed down the entire area and are not going to give any information at this time.”

“Oh my.”

“Yeah.” Aurora shook her head, focusing her attention back on her phone call. “Yeah, I’m seeing it now. Are you there? Are you okay?” Her heart sped up slightly as she bit the tip of her thumb.

“No. I’m in DC, but your dad is there.”

“And with eight suspicious incidents in as little as three weeks, we have no room but to speculate whether or not there will be more attacks.” She turned her attention back to the screen as a woman appeared, standing in front of an ambulance. “We have no word yet on any injuries, but with the explosion as far away as Prince Street, an unconfirmed report said it was a car bomb. NYPD’s emergency services, as well as federal--” She shut the television off, excusing herself. She went around the corner, enough to keep Michelle out of earshot, but within eyesight.

“Why is he in a federal building?” she asked, keeping her voice low.

“I thought you knew. Your dad left retirement a few months ago, Kid.” His words stung. She took a deep breath, glancing over her shoulder. Michelle had turned the news back on and was watching intently.

“What do you know about his case?” Her attention was back on the phone call.

“Not much. I know they were in New York for ‘nother possible Son of Sam situation, but that’s it. You know your old man’s not one for sharing.”

“Okay, well contact someone on his team and see if he’s there or--”

“That’s the thing Kid. No one can get a hold of anyone on the team.”

She hung up the phone. Checking one more time to make sure Michelle was still distracted, she began dialing her father’s number. It rang and rang and rang but he never picked up. He didn’t pick up the second, third, or fourth time he called either.

Her heart picked up as she looked at her desk. She thought about leaving, driving up to New York and searching every street until she found him. But she couldn’t leave Michelle here unsupervised. If she was the rat, then she couldn’t leave her alone with valuable government secrets. But this was her dad. Sure he hadn’t been present much in her life, less so now, but he was her flesh and blood.

She see-sawed back and forth, unsure what she should do. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she dialed the one person who could help her at a crucial time like this.

“Hello?”

“Hey Mom, it’s Rory.”

“Oh Rory! How are you sweetie? Why are you calling so late? Are you in trouble?” There was a slight panic in her mother’s voice, and she knew she couldn’t tell her about Dad, or her job.

“No! No, I’m fine, but I have a question to ask you. I-- my friend is in a bit of a dilemma.” Her mother hummed, and she could see the knowing smile on her face. “You see, she has a job to do-- a really important job, but someone close to her is in trouble-- really big trouble. But if she goes to the person, she’s risking her job and a lot of people’s safety. But this person is irreplaceable. How does she know which one to do?”

After a moment of silence, her mother finally responded, “Well, your friend does have a big decision. But it ultimately comes down to what they feel is right. However, I will grant you this parcel of wisdom to pass on: jobs are important, yes, but they come and go. It’s the people in our lives we should worry about, because when they’re gone, they’re gone. And nothing can change that.”

“Thanks Mom.”

“Good luck, sweetie.” She disconnected the call, looking at her desk. Her mother was right, of course. She couldn’t abandon her father now, not when his life could be in danger. She returned to her desk, grabbing her jacket and bag.

“Rory? Are you okay?” Michelle stood from her desk, walking over.

“Uh. Yeah.” She spared a quick glance to her desk drawer before bringing herself back to the present. “Yeah. Family emergency. I gotta go.” She left her standing in the bullpen, brows furrowed.

As she assaulted the elevator button, she took her phone out again, dialing yet another person. Thankfully she knew he was up at least.

“Vance.”

“Sir, Agent Lee is still in the building. Last I saw her, she was in the bullpen. I’d have stayed with her but something important has come up and I have to go.

“Agent Baker, I don’t know how things used to run when you were in deep cover, but these types of things need to go through proper channels.” There was an air of annoyance in his voice as he spoke. She rolled her eyes, stepping out into the car lot. “You’re in the middle of a delicate and volatile case, and asking to leave--”

“With all due respect, Director,” she cut in,” I wasn’t asking. She hung up the phone, throwing her stuff into the passenger seat of her car before speeding off into the night. She knew she’d be reamed into the next year when she returned to work, but there were other important things for her to worry about and only one place she could go.

She reached down into her glove box, pulling out her emergency phone and dialing one last person. Her other phone was ringing like crazy, so with her emergency phone between her ear and shoulder, and her left hand on the steering wheel, she fished around until her hand came into contact with the buzzing metal. She powered it off just as the receiver picked up.

“Fornell--”

“Tobias, it’s Rory. Don’t save this number, it’s a burner. I need you to do something for me.”

“Rory--” There was an underlying exasperation tone to his voice.

“Please. I want the case file Dad was working on. If I can follow his steps, I might be able to know what happened.”

“That’s a whole lot of ‘ifs’ and ‘might’s’ Kid, but I’ll see what I can do.”

It was a little more than half an hour before she was pulling into the driveway of a grand house. She let out a puff of air, shaking her head. Fame, it seemed, had treated her father well. She stepped out of the car, making her way to the front of the house. She stopped at the birch tree by the patio, digging a small hole before wrapping her fingers around a tarnished key.

She dusted the dirt off the key, and made her way inside. She let out a low whistle as she took in the exterior. If there was one thing her father was fond of, it was the finer things in life. As she hung her jacket up, there was a deep bark and the sound of running coming at her.

“Mudgie!” Her father’s brown lab came barreling down the hall, tongue flopping in the wind. She dropped to one knee as the dog nearly toppled her over, licking her face excitedly. “I’ve missed you too, boy. You’ve gotten so big!” She knew he didn’t understand what she was saying, but that was okay. She was happy he was just happy to see her.

She stood up, using her sleeve to wipe away the saliva coating her face. Her dad had done quite a lot of renovations since the last time she’d been here. Of course that had been years ago, so she wasn’t too surprised that things had changed.

She turned on the small television he had in his kitchen, watching as the woman still covered the story. She pulled her laptop out of her bag and took a seat at his counter. There was an email containing her father’s case waiting for her. His entire case was at the tip of her fingers, and she had no time to go through every bit and retrace his steps. She squared her shoulders, ignored the panic tears wishing well in her eyes, and set forth.

The hours began to tick by, yet she was no closer to figuring out what was happening with her father than she was about what he was dealing with in New York. She combed through every piece of evidence she could, watched countless videos of murder, and waited for any type of call to let her know he was okay or hurt or dead.

It was hours before she ended up passed out on the counter, computer full of a gruesome case. Her cheek rested on the cold slab of marble, a little bit of drool falling from the corner of her mouth. Her phone was clutched in her hand, the insistent ringing from Vance had ended earlier in the night.

She didn’t hear when Mudgie barked happily as his owner stepped through the threshold, hand tightly wrapped around his glock. She didn’t see the soft look that crossed his face as he reupholstered his weapon. He powered down her laptop, setting it to the side. He went to the living room, pulling out a blanket and draping it over her shoulders.

More hours passed and the smell of fresh coffee pulled her from her slumber. She let out a high-pitched whine, stretching her arms out as her back cracked and groaned from the horrible position she slept in. As she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and the drool from her mouth, she found her father seated across from her. He had two mugs of coffee in front of him and slid one to her. She gave him a tight-lipped smile as she took the cup, careful to avoid contact.

The tension between them was enough to suffocate anyone. Both looked anywhere but each other, taking sips of their coffee. She’d been worried about him, of course, but now that he was here and alright, she didn’t know what to do or what to say. So she settled for keeping her eyes focused on her cup, letting the hot liquid warm her up.

“So, wanna tell me what you’re doing here, Kid?” His voice brought her eyes up. Of course the first thing he’d say to her would be direct and to the point. Her father was never one for short pleasantries.

“I got a call that a bomb went off in New York City, where you were because, apparently, you’re out of retirement.” Her words were true, but how she said them made them seem unnecessarily harsh. “Then no one can get in contact with you or your team. Where else was I supposed to go?”

A ghost of a smile crossed his face as he looked down at his cup. “I assumed you’d have gone to your mother’s.” He brought the cup to his mouth, giving her a pointed look.

“Yeah, well, I didn’t want to worry her. It was bad enough I was panicking, I didn’t need her freaking out too.” She looked down at her cup, guilt creeping up her back. “She doesn’t know, by the way, about what happened or that you’re back at work.” She let out a deep breath, pushing the cup away from her. “Besides, you seem okay, so I guess I should go now.”

She made a move to stand, but he was faster than his age let on. He stood in front of her, both hands up to stop her. She let out a breath, giving him a pointed look.

“Stay, let me make you breakfast.”

“It’s two-thirty in the afternoon.”

“It’s never too late for Dad’s special pancakes.” He gave her a hopeful smile, and somewhere deep down inside her, it warmed her heart to see him making an effort.

“Only if they’re chocolatechip.” She sat back down, bringing the coffee back towards her. He clapped his hands together, moving around to grab an apron from a nearby pantry.

“Your wish, is my command.”

As he began pulling out the necessary ingredients, she went to the living room where his albums were and picked up one of her favorites. The wonderful sound of the Beatles filled the living room and the kitchen, and she listened as her father hummed along. She returned to her seat at the counter, watching as he expertly made his way around the kitchen, just like the rare times he was home when she was a child.

The fragrance of cake batter and chocolate swirled around her as he set a fresh plate in front of her. The two of them chowed down in silence, letting John and Paul fill the room.

Once the music died out and their plates were almost empty, she collected them, setting to work on washing the dishes. He poured them fresh cups of coffee and waited until she was seated before he spoke again.

“It’s been a long time, Kid.”

“Over seven years.” Another awkward pause settled between them. “I didn’t think you’d leave retirement.”

“Jason, uh, he resigned after a particularly nasty case. I offered to come back.” He licked his lips, taking a sip of his coffee. He cleared his throat, setting the cup down. “Your mom told me you got a new job.”

“I didn’t realize you and Mom still talked.”

“Our marriage wasn’t a bad one, just a badly timed one. And we’ll always be in each other’s lives, especially because of you, Rory. So come one, tell me about the new job.”

“I, uh, I still work for NCIS. I just kind of have a desk job now.”

“Desk job? Didn’t take you as the type to sit around all day. What do you do?”

“I’m, uh, I’m a field agent on the NCIS Major Case Response Team.” She took a sip of her coffee and he let out a chuckle.

“Should’ve known. Too much like your old man.”

Once again a thick silence fell over them, like a fog on a rainy morning. Several minutes passed where the only sound around them was Mudgie’s desperate whining and them taking sips of their coffee. She glanced at the clock and saw she’d missed an entire day of work. She was screwed seven ways to Sunday, but that was another day away.

“Well, it’s been great catching up Dad, but I have to go. I’ve missed work and I haven’t been home in over a day now.” She stood up quickly, gathering her stuff and making haste for the front door. She paused at the door, hand gripping the door handle. She glanced over her shoulder to see Mudgie had returned to her father’s side, resting his head on his leg. “I’m really happy you’re okay.”

“Me too. If you want, we can do dinner sometime. Just the two of us.”

“I’d like that.”

The last thing she saw before she closed the door was her father’s smile, something she hadn’t seen in a long time. There was a bittersweet silence in the moments that followed. She looked down at her phone as she let out a deep sigh. She had several missed calls from Vance, Michelle, and Brent, and only one missed call from Gibbs. Somehow, that terrified her more than Vance’s missed calls.

The next day was probably worse than not knowing if her father was alive or not. Thankful as she was that he was, now she’d have to face the two people who had a say over her livelihood. As she gripped the steering wheel on her way to work, she didn’t know if it’d be Gibbs or Vance that was going to yell at her, and she didn’t know which she’d prefer.

She swerved into the parking lot, narrowly missing Agent McGee as she found her parking space. She squared her shoulders and gathered her things. Just like her mother said, this was a job.

“You drive almost as bad as Ziva.” McGee was standing there with an annoyed look on his face.

“Yes, well, depending on Gibbs’ mood, you might not have to worry about me much longer.”

“What?” His face fell as he fell in step with her. “Why? What’d you do?” They stepped into the elevator together. McGee didn’t mind being a few minutes late today.

“I didn’t show up yesterday and my phone was shut off.” She swallowed the lump rising in her throat as she reminded herself to take deep and steady breaths.

“Well, do you at least have a good reason?”

“I like to think so.”

McGee gave her a pat on the back as the elevator doors opened to reveal her level. She took one step at a time, keeping her head held high as she found her way to the bullpen.

Michelle and Brent were bent over their respective desks, focused on the files in front of them. They didn’t hear her as she carefully set her stuff behind her desk. She was mere inches from sitting down when a loud and clear voice rang throughout the room, capturing everyone’s attention.

“You.” Gibbs stood at the other end of the bullpen, coffee in hand and eyes laser-focused on Aurora. He marched his way towards her, setting his coffee on his desk as he did so. As he passed her, she followed obediently. Vance had warned her about his elevator interrogations. She kept her chin up until he stopped the elevator, turning to look at her.

“You wanna tell me where you were yesterday?”

“Virginia.”

“What the hell were you doing in Virginia that was so damn important?” He raised his brows, staring at her expectantly. She had to tell him the truth about her.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out her wallet. She handed him her drivers license and the picture she kept tucked behind it. He glanced down at them. His brows furrowed as he held them further away from him, and she had to restrain herself from laughing.

“My real name is Aurora Rossi. Baker is my mom’s maiden name. My dad is SSA David Rossi, renowned crime author and federal agent. Two nights ago, it was brought to my attention that he left retirement, when I got a call that a bomb went off where he was during a case he was working.

“That picture is one of the few pictures where me, him, and my mom are all together. After their divorce, my dad’s career began taking off. He was home less and less. Days between visits turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and finally, months turned into years. Before yesterday, it’d been almost a decade since I last spoke to or saw him.”

There was silence between them. She felt like a great weight had been lifted off her shoulders, and in that moment, she didn’t care if Gibbs was angry or not. He handed her back the picture and ID, allowing her to put them back before he spoke again.

“Why don’t you use his name?”

She couldn’t resist letting out a scoff. “Isn’t it obvious? Anything I did in life would have been because of him, not because of me. My accomplishments, my work, my life would be his, not mine. And I hate groupies.”

He let out a soft chuckle as he turned back towards the elevator. He exhaled, glancing over to her. “Rule eight: never take anything for granted. You did the right thing, Kid.”

Hearing him say that made her feel better. Though she wasn’t out of the woods just yet, she felt more confident facing Vance, knowing Gibbs backed her up. She let a tiny smile slip through as he flipped a switch to get the elevator moving again. But just before the doors opened, he reached up and slapped the back of her head.

“Rule three: never be unreachable.”

Submission: Emma?

Do you guys think we’ll get a PR girlfriend for Taylor? I’m seeing the theory around, but I don’t know. It seems to me like Taylor is sick of bearding, and I feel like she might be more uncomfortable faking a relationship with a woman when she’s actually gay. It would feel more like cheating than when she plays pretend with a guy. Plus, the Gaylors are still so against Karlie. I feel like she wouldn’t want to encourage them by giving them something new to ship. 

So I’m thinking more that any girlfriend we do see would be from the past, and the story would be safely over in the modern day. That way Taylor could come out as liking girls without it creating all this unwanted shipping. But she’d have to choose her partner really carefully to control the narrative, which is why I actually kinda think it won’t be someone she actually dated? I think it might be a good friend instead.

Right now, with the new song “When Emma Falls In Love” and Emma showing up at the Eras Tour, I’m wondering if Emma might agree to pretend they dated in the Speak Now era? Pretty sure she’s engaged or married now, so it would be safe to do the “we were just kids then, we’re good friends now with no hard feelings” thing. (So the Emma song could be about letting go of the relationship and how Taylor will feel when Emma falls in love again. Happy for her and grateful for the good sweet relationship they had. A nice song about growing up and it being good to let go sometimes.) 

Emma could work for a lot of reasons. Gaylors have speculated for years Enchanted was about her. They were friends at the right time, and Emma’s relationships were unconfirmed at the time, so she could easily say she was dating Taylor around 2009. Emma is at least an ally, because she was happy to play gay in the Favourite, and obviously, she’s an actress so she could talk about a past relationship in a more convincing way than some of the beards. And Emma’s really private. She was even when she was in one of the biggest relationships in the world with Andrew Garfield. She’s good at keeping drama away from her private life, so I think she could keep a lid on it even if it became this huge conversation that she once dated Taylor Swift. I could see Emma just playing the whole thing cool and classy. 

Hayley Williams could also comment on the whole thing. She has that laid-back rock star energy now, but at the time she was really Christian, so she could speak to some of those religious struggles Taylor references in her work,  and maybe help people understand why Taylor kept her sexuality a secret. Say that they were friends at the time and Taylor worked through that conflict of faith with her. Castles Crumbling has to be a song about disillusionment. Like the Paramore song Brick By Brick. 

What do you think? I really feel like something big is coming for TV Speak Now, but it might be more a rewriting / reexamination of history than a new relationship.

I just want to remind everyone on planet earth that the “40 beheaded babies” and “gangs of r*pists” are still unconfirmed rumors.

The “40 beheaded babies” rumor was from a “journalist” that said she overheard people talking about it. The “gangs of r*pists” seems to be an internet rumor originating from speculation surrounding those videos of the women in the truck which, while certainly violent, is not in itself a confirmation of sexual violence let alone mass r*pe.

Even if these things did happen, I think we can all agree that it costs us nothing to take “violent black/brown people” rumors with a grain of salt until we get credible verification since believing them can actually result in more violence.

If you believed those things uncritically and acted upon the emotions that belief elicited, please take a moment to ask yourself some questions:

1. Would I have uncritically accepted this information if I had heard that it was Israelis or Russians committing these acts?

2. Have I heard similar rumors surrounding other events? What are some commonalities between the current conflicts and those past events?

3. Why did I not Google these things before reacting when in the past I have done it easily?

4. How did sharing these rumors make me feel? Would I have gotten the same emotions from sharing verified facts?

5. Who benefits when I accept and spread rumors of racialized violence? Am I a benefactor?

6. If this post makes me feel defensive, do I really disagree with the statement that we should be careful when spreading rumors of violence being committed by non-white people, or do I just feel like I’m being attacked?

6b. If I do feel like I’m being attacked, why would a post pointing out racist behavior make me feel that way?

I have just gotten to the pizzaplex books finally, and after reading the lally’s game story last night I had a thought I’m unsure if it’s right but I think it’s a direction to consider maybe? And apologies if you have brought this up before and I have missed it.

In the actual story lally’s game, Selena in trying to figure out the trunk and cade’s story, decides to “look at the facts”, then after writing what she knows for sure begins to question the validity of her “facts” some of which are based on the word of Cade who in that moment she does not trust and whose story she does not believe.

I think here Scott et al. may be telling us in this story, that to solve the story of fnaf, the knowledge we have must first be stripped back to only facts - including things unconfirmed that we have come to accept as fact e.g. things introduced by fan/theorist speculation that have no definitive absolute proof or confirmation.

Is selena’s idea (What is in the trunk? Look at the facts.) a hint from the authors to us on how to reach a solid conclusion? I think there may be something in these definitive or confirmed, proven “facts” that has been either missed or misinterpreted by us or else why are we being directed to them through this story?

I might be way off and I know this is an old book so things may be different, I just thought it was interesting and I’m not deep enough in to list the facts that may be being referred to in totality so I leave this idea with the dedicated theorists like yourself 😅

Even if that's not what Scott was intending to convey I do think that's a good strategy and it's why I came to the conclusions I did about stuff like Candy Cadet, Vanessa, and some other things. Facts are facts, and while you can interpret them, to say the interpretations are facts is very risky!

What do you think of Daemon and Nettles's relationship?

Is she Daemon's bastard daughter or is she his lover?

I kind of answered that here, but I am genuinely not sure she was either. I get why people assume one or the other, with the affair being the most common assumption.

However, I feel like both interpretations fall back on cynicism and are weak when it comes to what they offer the themes of the story and our understandings of the characters. To be fair, Martin can be quite cynical, but he's still a Romantic, and there's probably a reason he left it unconfirmed. Readers can decide what the story means for each of us.

That said, I genuinely think the themes of the story offer a completely different take on their relationship, one that is far more hopeful and yet sad than either of these. I'll paste what I said in the linked post here, as well as the textual evidence for it.

The tl;dr is that I think Nettles wasn't his daughter and wasn't his lover, but instead a child Daemon was trying to do right by. I'm very open to being "wrong," but I don't think we'll ever get any sort of confirmation either way, and I can back my theory up with the text just as well as those other theories, so.

When the text mentions rumors (which I’ve been paying attention to as I reread ASOIAF), it’s usually NOT one or the other, but usually a mixture of the two with some unknown third component there.

The problem is that both of the two options severely weaken a different theme.

Like, if Nettles is his daughter, that reinforces the idea that magic is only for a certain bloodlines, and while there is some truth to this in ASOIAF, it’s not fully the truth, and it seems very very odd to me that George would stick to this one fantasy trope and not deconstruct it like he usually does. Tyrion is most likely a dragon rider in ASOIAF alongside Jon and Dany, and it is much more powerful if he is not a Targaryen.

As for the more likely option–cheating–also weakens the themes because again, a queen is not paranoid and losing everyone if she’s right. I’ve seen some speculate Rhaenyra didn’t write that letter, but it is most likely that Rhaenyra did write that letter, because in a tragedy, she must bring about her own downfall. The problem is that it is a lot less thematically powerful if Rhaenyra is right about Daemon cheating on her.

The most powerful thematic option is if Daemon just saw a kid who had power and tried to protect her from the war. Maybe trying to get some insight into her powers, maybe not. But he loses Rhaenyra in the end because of her own inability to trust, and then what does Daemon do? He decides to essentially die tragically defeating Rhaenyra’s most formidable enemy: Aemond and Vhagar.

When there’s no love left, there’s still duty towards a queen.

Like, no, of course that isn’t “couple goals.” I’m not saying it’s some great fantastical romance that we should all swoon at. But I’m also saying that it is true that Daemon’s life was defined by love, which is way more thematically consistent with Martin’s works than “bad guy do bad thing.”

DESERT -> YORK DEATH: In season 10, episode , Carolina and Epsilon leave the desert and arrive to the site of York’s death on a mongoose.

YORK DEATH -> NORTH DEATH: In Recovery One, episode , Wash leaves York’s death site and arrives to North’s death site on a warthog

NORTH DEATH -> CITY (R1): In Recovery One, episode , Wash and South leave North’s death site via warthog, which we later see with them when they are in the city. NEED TO CHECK THIS.

(NOTE: The city where York and Tex meet in Out of Mind is never shown to be traveled to or from, therefore cannot be confirmed to be on the same planet. I believe it is a valid interpretation to assume the city in Recovery One is the same as the city in Out of Mind, but this is speculative and unconfirmed.)

YORK DEATH -> VALHALLA: In season 10, episode , Carolina and Epsilon leave York’s death site and arrive to Valhalla on a mongoose

VALHALLA -> DESERT: In season 7, episode , Sarge, Simmons, and Caboose travel from Valhalla to the desert via warthog, through the water. In season 8, episode , NEED TO CHECK

DESERT -> VALHALLA: In season 8, episode , Sarge and Grif drive from the desert to Valhalla via Warthog. In episode , Church and Caboose NEED TO CHECK. In season 10, the BGC travels from the desert to Valhalla via warthog. NEED TO CHECK ALL OF THIS

VALHALLA -> STORAGE: In season 10 they go from Valhalla to the storage unit but i really don’t remember the exact sequence. they end in valhalla, so do they go back and forth? NEED TO CHECK

VALHALLA -> COMMAND: In season 6, episode , the guys travel from Valhalla to Command via tank.

(NOTE: There is the possibility to connect Command to Zanzibar, though it’s speculative. In season 10, episode , the cast travels from the place the UNSC is storing Epsilon to Zanzibar via warthogs. Both Command and the UNSC storage facility use parts of the Halo map “Standoff” to portray their exteriors. However, the UNSC storage facility uses the map “Orbital” for its interior while Command uses a variety of other maps. For example part of command uses the map “High Ground,” which is the base Church was at for 14 months between seasons 5 and 6. This shows that simply using the parts of the same map is not enough to be considered proof of two places being the same location. Therefore it cannot be confirmed whether or not it should be Command or a separate storage location that connects to Zanzibar.)

VALHALLA -> HIGH GROUND: In season 6, episode , Church, Wash, and Caboose travel from Valhalla to High Ground via mongooses. NEED TO CHECK

HIGH GROUND -> VALHALLA: In season 6, episode , Church states that he, Wash, and Caboose walked from High Ground to Valhalla.

HIGH GROUND -> ZANZIBAR: In season 6, episode , The Meta leaves High Ground on a mongoose which is later seen at Zanzibar. NEED TO CHECK

The places that remain unconnected to the rest of the planet are Battle Creek and the city in Out of Mind. Battle Creek is only accessed via teleporter and the OoM city has already been explained. There’s also the teleporter nexus but I don’t consider that a. place. though anyway it is only accessible via teleporter.
