genuinely why is there so much misinformation about the guardians of childhood book series?

#Lemme be a toxic fan for a moment bc im so tired and stressed and i need to yell my silly fandom frustrations out to the void #The people saying Jack is fourteen in them. No.#He can manipulate his age from 11 to 18 and is dating a 25 yr old #people still insist that the books are connected to the movie despite there being no possibility for that since 2018 #And like they totally guess what happens in the books #I saw someone try to say that dreamworks were being 'weird' and aged Jack up to ship him with tooth but in the books he was a child #three things: He's not fourteen (see above for age. He's essentially an adult and is treated as such) and is dating an adult #And he didn't make an official appearance in the books until 2018. Six years AFTER the movies release #and thirdly dreamworks aged him DOWN????#Joyce's og idea was an adult with a wife + kids ???#Like what are you talking about #never mind the people insisting that JACK IS 12???? NO??? Where did you get ur information bc wtf???#the movie started production (in 2008) before any of the books even existed (first book was published in 2011)#We have no idea how much of the books they had! The most they had were Joyce's ideas that were subject to change (and boy did they change)#the walking eggs in the movie didn't come from the book (even tho they're in there) they came from Joyce's doodling on notes!#The third book published alongside the movie tie-in books and then days later the finished film premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival #by the time the second book rolled around (2012) the movie was probably finished and was just getting distributed by paramount and #was possibly even finished in 2011! Four years of production of the movie and then the first book got released #I cannot express enough how much the books are not the source material for the movie. If anything is it's the 2005 short film Joyce made #God it's so infuriating to see people discussing the books like they're the Bible without having read it. I get so irrationally upset #And why are we talking about the books like they have any relevance to the movie after 2018? that book completely severed all ties #Like I get it if people want to connect them but you'd have to ignore the entire last book to do that (which yeah most do)#but there's so many assumptions about the books and it makes it clear who got their into from fan rumors and who actually read them #if you are basing ur understanding of a book you've never read based on fanfic maybe you just shouldn’t say anything about the book #rotg #rise of the guardians #guardians of childhood #goc

drawing my Craig fan design for REAL!!!!! + stupid little doodles

earlier i made a post talking about how i was planning on making my own canon where Crarry could still feasibly exist (as well as having other story beats and whatnot) and i mentioned how i refined my Craig design a little bit from the last time i drew him. i finally got around to actually drawing a proper full-body sketch of him and what he's supposed to look like!!! i think i drew his eyes a little more far apart than i intended but. whatever.

he's my skrunkly. he's my baby. he's got perpetually bored resting face and a phd in Pocketbeasts lore. he's got messy hair and a few stray whiskers as he tends to forget his own personal hygiene, what with being a hardworking scientist who usually doesn't show his face and all. i redesigned his eye to have more of a prominent scratch on it that warps and distorts his pupil, as i felt like that'd be the most fitting for his facial scar and the type of injury he has!

and for fun i'm gonna do a general timeline of the evolution of how i've drawn this design over time, because it's actually changed quite a bit since i first drew him back in 2022!! (click for better quality)

god it is. so weird looking back at that first design. it's so..... why is he so square shaped............. lol

now, in terms of differentiating this Craig from Canon Craig, i've thought of giving him some slight personality enhancements that i've always thought would fit him. i haven't seriously thought about it yet (i am tired) but here's some basic little traits i want to make more apparent in his character:

Logical Knowledgeable Creative Naive Perfectionist Fearful and Cowardly Not a very high self-esteem; Afraid to take charge Easily exhausted Not physically strong; Makes up for it with his quick-thinking skills Easily irritated when presented with inaccurate/false information Easily embarrassed; Tends to erase memories when this happens Reliable Honest Earnest Nerdy; LOVES to infodump about any given special interest he has Focused, sometimes to a fault Detail-oriented Introverted

this will likely be expanded on and developed more, but these general personality traits are quite fitting for how i headcanon Craig to be as a person!

i love how whenever i get attached to a character or even just really like them, i always bestow my best headcanon onto them in high regard: the autism headcanon. gonna try to keep this short so i don't infodump for 12 hours but the major autism traits i like to imagine Craig displaying are issues with social skills (unaware of many cues, accidentally says things in an inappropriate way/unintended tone, takes things literally, misconstrues sarcasm as genuine statements), a speech affect (monotone affect), low empathy (doesn't feel what other people feel and has trouble reacting to and feels uncomfortable with certain emotions), has special interests (robotics and engineering, Pocketbeasts, cats, and he loves infodumping about them!!), stimming (rubbing the back of his head when uncomfortable, fidgeting with and studying a particularly intriguing object or tool very closely, doing little puzzles that make little clicky noises that are very pleasant to listen to), experiences sensory issues (joint pain, eye strain, sensitivity to loud and sudden noises, despises certain tastes and textures, often experiences shutdowns), has a strong need for a solidified routine (sudden routine changes can cause distress for him, as he needs more time to process his surroundings and has a strong need for structure in his daily life), a few motor control issues (he's quite clumsy and has issues with spatial awareness, causing him to bump into stuff. this has unfortunately resulted in him bumping his thigh on the edge of a table way too many times.) and a few other things i've probably forgotten about. a lot of these are inspired by a few of my own traits as an autistic guy myself. the dude's like a combo of Data, Barclay and Geordi mixed into one dorky nerd (apologies for any non-trekkie followers who don't know who those characters are :skull:)

Craig seems like the type of person who, once you get him started, will infodump to you about his special interests for HOURS and he still wouldn't even be done yet. just like me fr. also tiny little Craig getting his face smooshed

this is an older sketch i did when i was still finalising Craig's design along with doodling other stuff on the page. this was a little expression test of Craig blowing his face up with chemicals because 1. i thought it'd be funny. and it was. and 2. i've never really drawn him with big wacky expressions before, and i LOVE drawing big wacky expressions lol. it will be a rare sight to see Craig making a face like that but it'll still be funny nonetheless lol

i fucking LOVE the Yababaina music video so much, it's absolutely insane and fun to watch, although it does put my eyes out of focus when i look at it for too long. heavy eyestrain and seizure warning for anyone who wants to check the video out, it's extremely fast-paced and has a lot of bright saturated colours. here are my three boys drawn doing that little handholding thing Miku, Teto and Zundamon do in the video. also first drawing of Prince Runingunin!!! he's so silly <3

Currently I have so many bg3 saves bc I refuse to delete my old ones that will likely never be finished (first ever gameplays, not optimized, everytime I open one I get overwhelmed and stop), but also because I keep making new games with the specific purpose of romancing a certain companion, seeing special dialog, doing a specific style of run, or getting an achievement on steam.

#simon says #currently the 4 that I have right now are fun but I wanna do a new one bc I like making characters and being silly #so far I have:#sad bardlock that was originally going to be a no-romance 'everyone's worst ending' run but then I finally decided to romance shadowheart #since the two of them absolutely give off sad lesbian vibes and just seem to make eachother better #because a doom and gloom bardlock constantly saying 'that sounds lovely :)' to anything shar related quickly made Shadowheart happy #next up is big hulking non-lolthsworn drow who is a cleric of Mystra #because I want to see how a cleric of mystra works with Gale and so far it has SUCH fun interactions #... Jak'ith. my gith jack-of-all-trades romancing Lae'zel #i would be a liar if I didn't say doing a legit jack of all trades run as a gith romancing Lae'zel wasn't the most fun out of all my saves #the interactions are so fucking funny I love it #like I highly recommend a gith lae'zel romance because it's so much fun just bouncing back and forth in dialog #and I got REALLY into stealing after playing Jak'ith so I made a duegar thief who is gonna eventually be a druid #and im gonna make her an exclusively Halsin romance bc I saw some of the duegar dialog options with him and I thought it would be funny #since my last Wyll romance went south (i had hubris in honor mode and lost it all) and I have still yet to romance Karlach or Minthara #those 3 are on my list for characters to make and play bc I haven't explored those routes yet #i also want to try doing a true goody two shoes durge run and a true evil durge run #obviously the evil run will probably be the Minthara romance #also on this list I am ignoring Astarion bc I have romanced him twice now in my two old durge runs so unless I can think of something unique #then im not doing anything with him for a while #well except playing as him #i got an old playthrough with him I should continue bc I wanted to see what his origin stuff would be like in act 3 #at some point I do want to origin run all the origin characters bc it sounds really cool #but I want to get a good idea of their character arcs before I do #also for the achievements:#Jak'ith is the jack of all trades no Withers help achievement #My bardlock is the busking 100 gold one #and I want to do a punch drunk build at some point #which would probably be a monk bc of the drunken master robes you can get #but yeah I will probably end up with like 8 or more saves in the end
