However, the window for it to stay open is short, and they needed to act fast.) ͙͘͡★Don’t try to understand ͙͘͡★(Jasmine was willing to risk herself for him, telling him she'll let him get through while she found another way out. Thomas looks at her fearfully, but slumped his shoulders as he kissed her, bidding her farewell.) ͙͘͡★You weren’t here ͙͘͡★("I love you so much, never forget me." He whispered, pushing her at the last second before time ran out.) ͙͘͡★Read the papers ͙͘͡★(Tears filled her eyes as she just realized that Thomas sacrificed himself for her. He pushed her to safety so she wouldn't risk her life.) ͙͘͡★Made it to the news, dad ͙͘͡★(She screamed as she reached out for him, the tears blurring her vision by the second) ͙͘͡★Are you proud of me ͙͘͡★(Thomas smiled weakly as his eyes blurred from the tears, just happy his true love will get a second chance at life) ͙͘͡★yet͙͘͡★ (he turned around, meeting his boss's gaze)

͙͘͡★Guess I doubt it ͙͘͡★(He glared at him, the phantom taking over once again as he attacked his superior) ͙͘͡★Everyone has a reason for trying ͙͘͡★(As the flames grew, Thomas kept throwing attacks at him, trying to rid of the evil from this Earth.) ͙͘͡★Everyone has a reason for fighting ͙͘͡★(Maverick grabbed his gun, ready to finish off the man once and for all) ͙͘͡★Fuck buying flowers! ͙͘͡★(Jasmine kicked and sobbed as she tried to get out of Ryan's grasp, desperately trying to get back to Thomas) ͙͘͡★I want you to move on ͙͘͡★(Ryan's own heart kept breaking, not wanting to leave him either, but knowing it would risk the lives of the kids, so he had to keep pushing) ͙͘͡★Take a bus to nowhere ͙͘͡★(The group ran through the flames, desperately trying to reach Ashlyn) ͙͘͡★Anywhere that’s not here ͙͘͡★(Ashlyn stood in the room, wishing the flames would consume her already as she clenched her fist) ͙͘͡★Somewhere far away͙͘͡★ (Thomas felt the blood leave his body, but he wouldn't give up until Maverick was down) ͙͘͡★Bring all our friends ͙͘͡★(the rest of the gang held onto the items, Alex holding the main one with Aiden) ͙͘͡★Just don’t think about me ͙͘͡★(Ashlyn fell to the ground, screaming as the memories came back to her. She needed to free her friends. I have heard from some people that you would like to converse with me. This comes as… a relief to me, because I will admit I have also been hoping for such an opportunity for a long time now. However, I never found the courage to ask you personally… heh, look, I’m even nervous now. It’s an interesting feeling; as somebody so used to making others feel afraid, feeling nerves myself is something I’m not used to. It’s foreign, but… pleasant. Almost like there are butterflies dancing in my stomach.

I… hope you are not afraid of me. 

Ah, ignore me. I’m making a fool of myself. For someone who hails from the nation of wisdom, I was hoping I would not flounder with my words like a half-wit, but here we are. It seems love truly can bring the hardiest of men to their knees.

I was going to try and keep this brief, but I’ve already failed in that regard. I was also specifically told by Tighnari (and Dehya, and Alhaitham, as well as the matra, and some others) not to tell you a joke.

However, because I have failed one of my aims, surely failing another won’t be too blasphemous. Besides, I have a feeling that you will appreciate my sense of humour, unlike those dry-minded people  who have no appreciation for good jokes.

Therefore, I present you with this.

Have you raided my vegetable pantry? Because when I look at you, my heart skips a beet.

(…Do you get it? Because a beet, or a beetroot, is a vegetable, and the saying ‘my heart skips a beat’ is used to describe feelings of being flustered upon looking at or interacting with a person who you have feelings for. Which, in my case, is you. And if the beetroot is a vegetable, I would keep it in a vegetable pantry, but if you stole it, then it would be missing, hence skipped. That’s why the joke makes sense.)

Regarding festivities, I have not spent much time celebrating: the exacting of justice will never end as long as evil is afoot, and I cannot always afford to take breaks from my duties. I wish you, on the other hand, a wonderful day surrounded by loved ones; you deserve nothing less. My only regret is that I can’t spend the day with you… but I hold thoughts of you in my heart, and that alone is enough to bring me both the strength and joy I need.

forgive me; i'm finally reading your message at an unseemly time of night. being able to finally speak with you is a pleasure beyond words. it's... interesting, thinking that you'd be nervous to speak with me. i'm nervous to reply to you, mostly because i should definitely be sleeping, but also because i hope i don't bore you with my jabbering.

i could never be afraid of you. especially not when you crack such silly jokes. you made me giggle, i'll admit. and rest assured, i understood the joke just fine. please feel free to tell any and every joke that comes to mind whenever you're writing to me; i'd love to hear all of them.

my holidays were well spent, though i am feeling the aftereffects rather intensely. i was on my feet for hours upon hours, and being surrounded by people is draining, so i'm... recharging, i suppose. i can only hope that you're safe and sound, and that you managed to get at least a little bit of rest during holiday season. it would've been wonderful to see you... i wish i could have.

i'm excitedly looking forward to when i can hear from you again! i'm wishing you well: i hope you have a very, very happy new year as well. and maybe, just maybe, i can spend time with you to ring the new year in, soon.

I am so happy that Beth got development as her OWN person/character this episode. My issue with this fandom is that they only seem to care about her in relation to a ship (Hournite) as opposed to on her own and I noticed that often happens with black female characters that are part of an interracial ship. So when ppl act like they care about Beth but never mention her outside of Rick it’s disingenuous and shady to me. It is also a disservice to the actress because Anjelika was fantastic in tonight’s ep and has shown time and time again on this show just how talented she is. So here’s to more character development and fleshing out for her 😊.

I agree I am also happy Beth was given her own moments specifically. Her acting was phenomenal and the heartbreak and struggle that she had written on her face…that “I’m scared”??? A gut punch. It was great.

I think it’s fine that people are excited for her ship and I don’t necessarily think that has to be a correlation to not caring enough about her development. I talk and think about hournite all the time. I think it might be the other way around in which this show is so character-heavy in a CW Network world where we’ve been primed to expect a LOT more ship-first character growth second storytelling. And therefore there’s an almost ravenous demand for Hournite (and same applied for other ships) content to fill that want—It’s well intentioned, it just overwhelms character discussion and in general this happens in many fandoms. But again I understand implicit biases can skew the perspectives and yes it does happen with interracial couples.

I think my point specifically, and this is my experience, is that yes, I studied this, and yes, I find the content interesting, and yes, I see the double standards….At the end of the day I am a black biracial woman whose mom is dark-skinned black and my dad is white….and I get fatigue hearing this “wow doesn’t it suck that this sucky thing happens because they’re [my identity]? Yes, I know. Yeah, I’m aware. Or hard criticism after every episode when I’d like to wait for it to all come together before I draw conclusions. And I’m like…Can we talk about fun stuff now? Stargirl is my quirky fun tv time. There’s so much fun stuff…let’s get to that.
