Everyone always tells me they’re so jealous of my high metabolism mostly because it also means I can eat pretty much anything whenever and not worry at all about gaining a bunch of weight- and like- I do actually get it from their point of view- but honestly it actually really fucking sucks-

For one it actually means I struggle big time with making sure im not UNDER weight because my body feels like it just wont ever gain ANY I stg- and from my other shit like adhd n stuff I really suck at eating enough as is which makes the lack of weight gain EVEN WORSE 😭

BUT ALSO EATING PROBLEMS OR NOT!!!!!! HIGH METABOLISM SUCKS ASS TOLERANCE WISE!!! Like tolerance for literally ANYTHING. I have to put WAY higher quantities of ANY substance into my body to get even just a normal base effect the average dose/amount is supposed to have- ALSO MEANING THAT SHITS WAY MORE EXPENSIVE- I have to use more weed to get high than usual (even my FIRST EVER time with it I had to do a SHIT ton before it effected me at a base level)

I need to have higher med doses most of the time- they have to shoot fucking extra novocaine into me even ??????? cause my metabolism is just THAT fucking fast-

AND THEN ALCOHOL- OBVI IT HASNT CHANGED SINCE THEN- BUT THE VERY FIRST TIME I WENT OUT WITH FRIENDS AND GO DRUNK- THEY BOUGHT ME 3 REALLY STRONG FUCKING DRINKS- AND 5 FUCKING SHOTS- 5!!!!! BEFORE I FINALLY GOT ACTUALLY TIPSY-

What are your headcanons regarding what Hancock's first name was when he was still McDonough? Do you think it was actually John? I know during his backstory dialogue he quotes Mayor McDonough saying "I finally did it, John", but Hancock coulda easily replaced his old first name with his chosen one when telling the story.

I always go two ways. Either it was something short and/or sharp that sounds laid back and easy going, maybe unique and rebellious, or something really embarrassing. Like Gilbert (No offence Gilberts, just thinking of that Tweet for an example). Like how Flynn Rider changed his name from Eugene Fitzherbert. Of course, Hancock felt a connection to John Hancock and what he stood for, but I also think it woulda definitely helped (And been kinda funny) if in the back of his mind he was also thinking 'Man yeah fuck Gilbert why did they have to pick that?'

Hey, you seem like a big warriors fan on tumblr. I keep seeing Warriors stuff on my feed. Thinking about potentially reading the books, but do you have any tips when there are literally eight major arcs, with six books in each, not including the standalone stuff. I’m really curious and I don’t have a lot of space in my house for 50 new books, do you know about any way to kind of pare down the amount of reading necessary. Do you need to read every single book to understand what’s going on? Or do you just need to know the stuff about the most recent arc(broken code) and the recent new book(Starless Clan: River) to fit in with the fandom? Any books I don’t have to read and I’ll still be fine?

Hi!!! So, in terms of not having room in your house for a ton of new books, I can definitely recommend using your local library or reading free pdfs online (or buying them if u prefer)! There are also plenty of audiobooks too :)

As for reading them at all, I’d honestly suggest reading the first arc (The Prophecies Begin) both because it’s the start of it all and bc I think it does a great job at establishing the world building and all that! Plus, the protagonist is like the most famous cat of em all LOL. Aside from that, I think the most “important” arcs are probably The Power of Three, Omen of the Stars, and The Broken Code, personally, but I do also love the rest and would recommend all of them if you have the time. I think the prequel series, Dawn of the Clans, is the least relevant at this point of time in the fandom? U don’t need to read any (all?) of the novellas/mangas/super editions to know what’s up rn but they are oftentimes a good read—just not necessary. The Warriors wiki has both simplified and detailed plot descriptions for every book that you can skim through instead of reading the whole book if you’d rather catch up sooner than later.

Also, there’s no need to Fit In with the fandom or anything. I don’t know if I’m even necessarily a big part of it, I just like engaging with it and other fans and making some art, that’s all. I haven’t read tooooo much besides the main arcs, actually, so there’s a lot I’m missing on the sidelines!

Ehhhh this is a lot, sorry, but TL;DR: start with the first arc, and use online resources or the library if you don’t want to buy books. Get into it bc u like it, not bc u want to join a fandom :P

No I agree with the last anon, I love all your stuff but something just feels *different* about this one, like in a really good way. I hope you get the chance to publish your writing one day and make a ton of money from it. You deserve it ♡

i tried to focus on a few different things in this fic!!! idk if this is interesting at all, but lately as i've been writing, i've been trying to think about the following things:

physicality. really describing the love interest's body to the fullest extent. thinking about things like scars, hair, the different shades of their skin, skin texture, etc.

giving the narrator (reader) more story/internalization. i noticed i resonated with my reader characters more when i felt like they had some palpable inner nature and quirks that gave them dimension (while still trying to keep the reader character neutral enough for anyone to slip into)

choosing words more deliberately. i've been scouring vocabulary lists and finding new synonyms for words and religiously checking merriam webster's word of the day.

balancing poetry with more matter-of-fact / plain language. still attempting to keep the audience grounded in what is actually happening in the story while also making them feel transported with some more poetic passages.

mixing spoken dialogue (i.e. ["Go over there," he says]) with internalized dialogue (i.e. [A gruff voice at your side tells you to quiet, bird—s'too early for your bitchin’ before manhandling you onto your stomach] - note the italicized dialogue that is being spoken but only registers in the reader's mind). i just find the contrast is very appealing.

making sure that VISUALLY the story is engaging to read. that means a mix of sparse dialogue, big/dense paragraphs, and short one-line sentences broken into paragraphs. i want readers to look at the page and feel drawn in and like their eyes are bouncing all over the place rather than bogged down by paragraph after paragraph

I haven't seen anyone talk about how their shared Egos set up Heathcliff and Outis as foils; they share Binds, Holiday, and Ya Sunyata Tad Rupam, but the way they resonate with them, what they see in those abnos that they can draw upon to use their powers is almost completely opposite. In YSTD, Outis is set up as someone who is awaiting for karma to come get her, for the results and consequences of her actions to rebound on her, while Heathcliff is the one that exacts karma on others.

Holiday deals with hatred and rage, and Outis is set up as the target of the rage of others, while Heathcliff as the one that uses that rage on others (I'll note that Heathcliff's Holiday is Gluttony, which implies that he uses that rage to sustain himself and keep going)

Binds deals with authority and power, and the limitations to your own freedom that follow; Outis takes pride (lol) in it, and punishes those that dare question her own authority, while Heathcliff is bound (lol again) by it, which is somewhat reflected in how in Canto VI he inherits Wuthering Heights and immediately frees Nelly from it, while he himself remains bound to it.

Idk I think it's fun, it's a dichtomy between a person that is in a position with a lot of power, and one that is not, and I hope pmoon does more with it.

Also unrelated but both YSTD and Binds take the form of a sword floating above her head for Outis, which is most likely a reference to the sword of Damocles, a legend that narrates the risks of being in a position of absolute power, which considering Outis' background... lol. Lmao.

Im white-ish (grew up white) and originally drew mostly white characters, but now i draw mostly not white characters. on the surface it might not seem like an issue, but im afraid it comes off some kind of way. But is there a point where it would become problematic and uncomfortable for other people?

For me in my mind, all the characters are from different stories and aren't fleshed out. So its not like i have one story where all the characters are black or poc and the villain is white or something that could come off as preformative or white guilt

but i just wanted to start a discussion with you and or followers, if theres a point or experience with white (or mixed who grew up white) people who only seem to draw poc or mostly- where its uncomfortable. And maybe any suggestions on how to fix? that?

I know this is an odd question, but i feel that it might resonate with either side.

Also to clarify, for me, the characters either automatically come to me as a CoC, i base it off a friend or other character, or i choose a race or ethnicity i feel i havnt explored.

As for me, if you're not trying to pander then... You're not trying to pander. It's probably uncomfortable bc you live in a society that considers characters of color and their existence in media to be "woke" and "PC" and "DEI" (all terms that are not negative, now imbued with negative connotations thanks to the racist right). Drawing white characters is comfortable, the expectations. By creating characters of color, you are going to deal with both disdain and higher expectations.

To me, this just sounds like you're coming up with diverse characters and challenging yourself to explore what that means. That's... Fine. Sometimes making a character of color IS going to be more interesting, by introducing new perspectives on old tropes (my constant example is Louis from IWTV). That's what we want lmao, as long as you're not overstepping or being racist.

I think you need to be honest with yourself. Who are you doing this for, really? If you feel guilty because you're doing this for diversity clout or to "feel less racist", then I'd ask that you stop and reevaluate. It's okay to reevaluate, then do better! That's better than staying in defensiveness and denial. If you're doing it because it makes you happy, and you believe in an art world where everyone is represented, then you're fine and you should keep drawing! That growth will show in your work!

It's not our job to absolve you of that guilt, but the only way to push through that guilt is to hold yourself accountable and then take the necessary actions to fix whatever it is you feel guilty over (or let it go). 👍🏾

Omg, thank you for asking this. No. Despite all the hate Rachel gets I know that it all stems from a place of misunderstanding/blindness towards who she really is, ignorance of the context of her circumstances and/or just pure biasness against AmberPrice. I'd say that choosing to save a town shows that you're a person with a big heart that cares for a greater number of people, which in a way is doing the right thing morally. It's actually a + point in my eyes. (Lmao I love Chloe but she literally said maybe it's her destiny and wants to save her family too, are they deaf for not hearing that part?? Let her be a hero and do what she wishes to do, is that so wrong? People be like nah imma save her cuz *I* love her and *I* care about her the most. Why I Headcanon Waylon Park as a Trans Guy?

it came to me in a dream.

ok but jokes aside (well not entirely it DID actually originate because of a dream i had getting interrupted by a nonexistent video essay on the topic... dreams are weird man), i do want to try talking about my reasoning for this (although it's totally legit to hc a character as trans purely because you want to!! thats totally based also lol), because maybe it'd be interesting to hear the lens through which i saw this game? idk lol but i'm doing it anyway... below the cut in case it gets long

Ok immediate prefaces, A: i doubt this was actually the intended at all and i'm not trying to say it's canon, just saying why i read it that way :3 and B: this will probably be a rambling mess and I apologize, I'll try to make it somewhat make sense.

I guess I'll start with: a whole major thing of Outlast, is fighting to tear down this large corporation, that is like. the embodiment of shitty systems that exploit people (this post by bry mentions that general topic, although more focused on miles' angle). It's worth noting because, to me at least, fighting these sorts of systems really aligns with a lot of queer folks (and basically any group that gets fucked over by the system, which is most of them loll). There's like, this whole thing of Waylon seemingly fitting that image of the ideal typical man, with the wife and kids and a job, but he has to risk all of that to do what he feels is the right thing.

(Oh yeah, I guess quick tangent on that note. Yes I know in canon we literally see his dick lmao and also we know he has kids, which you might think would deter my hc here. but A: i already said ik it's probably not canon, i can still read into it regardless. B: intersex ppl exist. C: phalloplasty and other similar procedures exist. D: ppl can have kids in non-traditional way. so im prob not gonna cover that element of it more)

My brain hasn't been able to help but interpret his whole journey in a queer way, because i played it as a teenager still in the throes of understanding my identity and place in the world, so in the end this might not even make sense to anyone else. But, I'm trying to explain, so I'll continue to regardless.

I kind of saw it as Waylon hiding in the protection of an "ideal" life. On the surface he looks like he's in that American ideal family, but it's a subversion. He's only one of them because they think he is. Because he doesn't step out of line. Unlike Miles, who's more outspoken about issues, who seemingly has no one around him. He's treated as part of this "ideal" world, while working in the background to try and stop the exploitation and immoral acts going on.

When he's caught, when he's seen as something more complicated than first imagined, he's cast out. Lumped in with the same people being exploited by Murkoff already. He isn't "human" to them anymore. He's something else. Something they don't like.

Although the violence brought upon him is by the variants, it is still in part Murkoff's doing, since they fucked these people up via these experiments to a point of heightened violence and just generally ruining their lives more than they already had been by whatever they had done prior. That being said, they are still responsible for their own actions.

the stuff with Eddie is definitely the part that most resonated with me through this lens. I remember first playing it, and he scared me the most, for a lot of reasons. One of which being what he represented. He's The Groom. He wants someone to be his Bride, and you're it, even if you don't want that. As someone who's aroace AND already knew at that point that i wasn't a girl, this guy felt like a human embodiment of the pressures to fit what was expected of you. That one day, you'll be married and have kids. If you don't, then you're worthless.

But it's interesting especially, because Waylon IS married. He has kids already. He has that family. The difference is, in this hypothetical trans lens, he's not "really" in a traditional family. He's "pretending", as some might see it, because he's not "really one of them". Being Eddie's Bride is the situation that would've been expected of him, but he said "fuck that", and did his own thing.

Plus, like, with Eddie in particular, you will NEVER be what he wants. He will try to make his perfect bride, but you'll never be it. Even before Mount Massive, no one was what he wanted, judging by all the people he killed. He's a broken man desiring something but never liking his options.

Also just fucking. these lines from eddie make me lose my mind.

That part of you the world sees, they think it's perfect. As God intended. Even these idiots and lunatics see it. There's something special about you. On the surface. But when they look deeper, when anybody with eyes to see looks at what you truly are. That's why they don't trust you. You're not what you're meant to be. Not yet. This place can see into your mind. And the things you've done. Oh, they're a sin, darling.

I know it's probably just Eddie rambling but it felt like he reached through the screen and grabbed me by the throat like.

Anyway in actual relation to my point. uh. Remember the thing I said about Waylon being a "fake" typical family? This kind of relates to that. Like, on the surface, he seems like he's got this perfect typical American family, he's "as God intended" (which. bro. i swear that exact phrase has been used against trans people so many times). But if you look closer, you'll realize there's more to it than that. Also like, going from the "as God intended" line to the thing about the things he's done being a sin, like hmmm. Maybe I'm reading into that too much, considering we know Eddie wants to make you into his Bride, so of course he's gonna think stuff like that. But still. It's a bit interesting to me.

Plus, it's interesting how, despite having a wife and kids, he's still more... feminized, I guess, than any other characters in this game. Both in the game itself, and within the fandom. Like, not just Eddie literally calling him a woman and trying to make him his bride, but also stuff like a variant near the beginning calling him a "pretty flower" before threatening him, Andrew (one of the staff) licking his face at the beginning of the game... A lot of violence and sexual-ish acts that are often directed at women in media. Even Frank, who I don't have as much to say about here, has some weirdly sexual undertones to his whole cannibalism thing.

This isn't entirely related but one part of the game that still sticks with me but I don't see mentioned as much, is near the beginning. Those guys stabbing the dead staff member. One of them remarks that "there are no observers here" and "do you think you're different? Something special?", which I think helps cement the whole idea that he's treated the same as the rest of people being exploited by Murkoff now. There's no turning back to that "ideal" life you were hiding in before. Hell, that's definitely reinforced more at the end of the game, when you choose to publish your footage, knowing Murkoff will come after you for it, and probably ruin your life. Maybe there's more interesting things to glean from that, but i thought they were interesting lines nonetheless.

anyway, overall I know this is probably just the ramblings of a trans/generally queer person reading WAY too much into a character that I happened to resonate with when i played the game, but i thought maybe it would be interesting for others to understand what would lead me to this conclusion? Anyway, that's all i've got on the subject right now, so I hope it was at least a little interesting.

this is actually really interesting to consider because i don't think there's one overarching reason.

the thing with comics is we have decades and decades worth of content so even the canonical depictions of characters vary so much because no two writers approach a character in the same way, not to mention editorial complexities. like, take dick grayson for example. the way he's written by dixon is very different from the way he's written by, say, tomasi or morrison. and that can be confusing because if even the actual writers aren't always in agreement or sync over their portrayals, it's a hard ask to expect readers to do so.

at the same time, a lot of modern comic writing has been a victim of fan service. it's possible that when writers saw how much readers enjoyed moments of genuine connection between two characters, they overcompensated and made that an overarching theme and recurring thing. maybe they didn't account for the fact that the reason such moments (like the bats working together in batman: murderer/fugitive) were so special wasn't necessarily because of how rare they were, but because those moments felt authentic to the characters and their personal motivations. like, ofc they would band together to help bruce out even if he is so insistent on pushing them away! the rarity of such events definitely added to the appeal but it was very much not the only reason that it resonated so deeply with readers.

this is not to say that you cannot ascertain what exactly drives a character forward and their motivations, despite contradicting evidence. like, when you consider something like nightwing '96 annual 2, i think pretty much most, if not all, batman&co comic readers knew it was a wildly out of character thing and disregarded it completely from canon. so, there is a line, even if it is slightly nebulous.

and i think often, some fans are not able to engage with some media in a nuanced and critical way. some people want their character to have done no wrong, have no flaws or moments dictated by those flaws; they want everybody else to be subservient to what their understanding of said character is. a bit like tunnel vision. there's also, often a degree of projection on to the characters- i don't think anyone is immune to that- but it is possible to take a step back and examine whether it's your personal desires pushing a character forth or your lens of a character's innermost motivations driving them.

plus, dc keeps retconning and rebooting things lmao. characters often come back from the dead, origin stories are re-purposed, fattened and served- it often feels like there are no real stakes in the comic world.

idk this is becoming very rambly, but i do think it is possible to understand the core driving forces of a character even if there is a variety of source material. but at the same time, no character is just that or just one thing- there should be room to add and subtract (thinking about angry!robin portrayals here). it's just a little bit of hard work and for a lot of people, reading comics is a form of escapism or something of a light hobby, so i can understand and excuse that not everybody will always want to do it.

It's my 10 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳

10 years seems like a lifetime ago for me. I moved across the world back to my home country, and Top Gear as we knew it had come to an end not long after. Then we got The Grand Tour. This blog went crazy as I spam posted about both shows, cool cars, and of course Clarkson, Hammond and May. I’m glad I have a space here still to freak out about it, and that others appear to resonate with it lol.

Ok, what the hell, here’s my life story with Top Gear if anyone cares;

I started watching Top Gear in 2012 when my boyfriend at the time gave me all the episodes from his hard drive, and I watched them over and over. New episodes premiered since then and I watched them too, I remember when I was away on holiday and went back to my room to watch Tom Hiddleston as the star in the reasonably priced car as soon as it dropped lol.

Top Gear became a comfort show for me during my lowest times, making me laugh when I felt like I couldn’t. It made me miss my home country even more because it was undeniably and unapologetically British. When I finally moved back and started again, I had no friends for a while. So they filled the void, whenever they did the news or squabbled over cars, it felt like listening to banter with friends. When they were raging and screaming during challenges, I laughed and felt like I was in the passenger’s seat along for the ride. When they’d go to different countries, it made me fall in love with those places. I still really, REALLY want to go to Vietnam because of Top Gear, they really captured the beauty of that country. Hopefully one day I can go there and see it for myself.

Idk man, I love these three idiots, and their crew for giving us the entertainment. They didn’t have to go this hard on (( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)) everything they do, but they did that for us, and I am very, VERY grateful for that. This show still cheers me up, I watch it on iplayer now (cos some of the files on my hard drive no longer play lol) and it’s given me a lot of writing inspiration as well.

Hopefully I get to meet the guys one day, or at least one of them, just to say thanks for the pokey little motoring show that gave that lonely and depressed 17/18 year old girl some hope and laughs. 30 year old me still quotes it, and I still laugh like I’m hearing it for the first time.

I hope this doesn’t sound like a goodbye post, cos it’s not. Lol, I’m not very active on this blog anymore, or on tumblr in general on any of my other accounts, but I’m still around popping in every now and then to shitpost.
