Carly and Spike were working with the Autobots on Cybertron. Which meant that Daniel needed a babysitter. Although he was 12 and no longer the small baby who would sleep in his arms. He still needed someone to watch him. Which he was happy to do.

Ever since Daniel was a few days old he'd been put in charge of the young humans protection. He knew it was high commands way of getting him out of the way and at first he'd been upset about the assignment. Complaining to Kup and his friends who weren't as sympathetic as he liked.

That all changed however when he held Daniel in his arms. It was like something clicked and from that moment on they were inseparable.

Then when Daniel was around 4, the Autobots and Decepticons finally created a peace treaty that ended the war. They decided to have a big celebration and Sparkplug had offered to watch Daniel, so he could have fun along with Carly and Spike. During that party he had another life changing moment.

This time it was when Soundwave sat next to him. At first it had been awkward, but they managed to hit it off and became friends. After that he often times hung out with Soundwave when he wasn't watching Daniel.

He even introduced Daniel to Soundwave, who immediately picked up on something he didn't even realize yet. Which was his crush on Soundwave.

Daniel with the help of Soundwave's cassettes decided to set them up and a few years later they were now dating.

Which leads to the present. Where they were hanging out at his favorite spot fishing together.

"Woah I caught one!"

Daniel excitedly shouted and reeled in the fish. Soundwave grabbed a net and held it up as he steadied the human worried about him falling in.

Daniel didn't seem to notice concentrating on pulling in the fish.

"That's a big one."

Daniel nodded as Soundwave caught the fish with a net.

They admired it for a moment before releasing it back into the water.

Daniel watched it swim away and he asked.

"Are you ready to go home?"

Daniel nodded and picked up his fishing rod. He did the same and Soundwave grabbed the net and his own fishing rod.

Walking back to the parking lot Daniel looked at Soundwave and asked.

"When are you going to perform the rites?"

Soundwave froze looked down at Daniel and then up at him. Trying to change the subject he asked.

"What do you want for dinner?"

"Pizza."

He looked at Soundwave who called the pizza place.

"When is mom and dad coming home?"

"They should be back tomorrow. Do you want to make them a sign?"

Daniel shrugged.

"I'm too old for that."

"You're not to old. I'm sure your parents will appreciate it."

Daniel shrugged with a small frown on his face.

"Daniel what's wrong?"

The human didn't answer instead he looked more sullen. Looking up at Soundwave he could see his boyfriend was equally concerned.

The ride back to the Witwickys house was spent in a tense silence. He occasionally glanced at Daniel who was looking out the window lost in thought.

When they got home Daniel went to his room and he sighed. Soundwave rubbed his back and he leaned into his touch.

"I'm worried about him.

"I know."

"I don't know how to help him if he doesn't say anything."

"Just give him time. He'll come to you eventually he always does."

He sighs feeling tired.

"I know... I just wish I could help him now."

Soundwave kissed his forehead.

"That's one of the reasons I love you."

He blushed and kissed Soundwave who wrapped an around his waist and pulled him closer. He kissed Soundwave some more until he suddenly tensed.

"What's wrong?"

He gave his boyfriend a worried look.

"Delivery driver approaching."

They both watched as the driver approached and stayed hidden from sight. While Daniel took care of the delivery driver.

They waited in silence as Daniel came over with the pizza. He sat at the table outside and ate with them which was a good sign.

Although he still wasn't saying anything. He tried to remind himself that Daniel would talk to him. He just needed to be patient. Looking at Soundwave his boyfriend wrapped an arm around him and he snuggled against his side.

"Are you going to leave me too?"

"What!"

He looked at Daniel in shock. Then looked at Soundwave for support who asked.

"Why do you think that?"

Daniel gave them both a sad look.

"Once Hot Rod bonds with you he'll have a new family and no time for me anymore."

"Daniel... I'll always be there for you, even if I bond with Soundwave. You are my family and that's not going to change."

Daniel looked up at him with tears in his eyes which made his spark sink.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

He carefully wiped his tears.

"I also promise that I won't take Hot Rod away from you. I know that he's your family and you are his family as well. Besides even if I tried to take Hot Rod away, he wouldn't go not without you."

Daniel smiled and he carefully hugged him. Soundwave joined him and they stayed like that for a while, until he heard Daniels stomach rumble. When they pulled away he gestured towards the pizza.

"Go eat."

He watched Daniel grab pizza and Soundwave held him.

"I've been thinking about it."

"Hmm?"

He gave him a confused look.

"I've been thinking about performing the rites and I'd like to... If you're ready."

"I'd like that."

Soundwave kissed him and he smiled into the kiss. They spent the rest of the day snuggled together as a family watching TV. Until they eventually fell asleep together as a family.
