About A Shoulder To Cry On

I do not support bullying nor SA. That should go without saying but this drama being problematic because of the way it began, i just wanted to make everything crystal-clear. I don’t wish to support a series that doesn’t dwell on the seriousness of these topics. But, as I’ve said in the tags of a gif set I reblogged, I am still watching it for its representation of depression. I don’t want people feeling uncomfortable with me reblogging content from A Shoulder To Cry On so do filter the related tags so it doesn’t show up on your dashboard. I completely understand people who want to boycott or skip the drama. This is a completely valid thing to do. But please understand that me watching it does not mean I agree with everything that’s being done. I know that giving it views encourages that type of production but so many people worked on that drama. Jaehan and Yechan to begin with and I want them to find comfort in the fact that their drama is being watched and enjoyed. This is a complicated situation and there is no right answer. I just wish people would qualify their judgements because some people might need this type of representation (of mental illness I mean).

In honor of April Fools day I will talk a bit about an AU with my favorite fool - (Redacted) Smith that I will probably never write fully but have thought about a bunch of scenes for.

I call it 2 Fluent Freshmen.

Due to a clerical error at both the school and during the local government's push to digitize their documents Smith is noted down as being 2 years older than he actually is and (perhaps a clerical error or maybe no teacher can say if they've had him in class or not) Smith also has enough credits to graduate. Gran has passed away early and there's nothing for him in Washington other than more anxiety.

Wymack & Dan come to Smith when he is 16 and Smith takes the chance to escape from his family IMMEDIATELY. Sure the Foxes are the worst team and sure there's some drama going on with Kevin Day having joined them after his injury but a full ride scholarship is a full ride scholarship!

Smith is rooming with 2 upperclassmen and his only other fellow freshman - Neil Josten. He is not hiding the fact that he can speak Russian, he is hiding the fact that he is 16. Smith ends up pretty close to Seth and Allison due to sharing a dorm / position respectively and just doing his best not to get to close to crazy Andrew Minyard. He does get a bit close with Neil but it's not something he's trying to do.

He's trying to keep his head down and get through the year.

It's a little hard when he is sat on the couch with the Kathy Ferdinand show. It's a lot harder when Riko Moriyama shows up and doesn't realize he's there and just...sits in Smith's lap?? Smith remains as blank faced as ever and what the fuck is Riko supposed to do? ADMIT HE FUCKED UP?

Do you know how hard it is to intimidate someone when you're sitting in the lap of some dude? The answer is VERY. Kevin can't take him seriously at all, especially after Smith made a comment that Riko's ass was bony.

Riko goes after them the same but Smith doesn't really get that his anger is at Kevin. "Hey, I'm sorry I called your butt bony on national television. That was rude of me. You should try some squats though." and like what the fuck is Riko supposed to say in the face of some dude genuinely apologizing to him.

It buys enough time that no one is grabbed or slammed.

Seth and Allison drag him out to the bar that night and after a few minutes sitting with Allison Smith realizes that he actually does have to pee and oh god someone's trying to assault Seth! Smith calls upon the powers of Gracie Hart and Seth has a black eye and a concussion but he graduates.

Neil wants Smith to come with him to the Thanksgiving because Neil has latched on a bit. Smith ends up going and also ends up going upstairs to go to the bathroom because oh god he cannot handle Nicky's parents hearing him take an anxiety shit. He's making his way to the end of the hall and sees a penny on the ground so he bends over to grab it.

And Drake Spears is unbalanced from missing his swing and falls right out the open window to the ground below where he breaks his neck. Naturally, Andrew is watching this scene unfold from the stairs and just starts to laugh his ass off. Smith turns around after flipping the penny over (it was tails side up and therefore not lucky) unaware of what has happened.

Smith asks if Andrew wants to use the bathroom. Andrew insists that Smith goes on ahead. The Hemmicks keep asking if they saw anyone upstairs and Smith has no idea what they're talking about, Andrew does but plays dumb out of spite. A day later it's wild that Nicky's parents got arrested. Like they seemed so normal, how did they kill someone and dump him in the side garden??

The Winter Banquet happens and well...it's dark. It's dark and Neil has brown hair and brown eyes and Smith has brown hair and brown eyes. Riko is not the best at judging heights so he calls Smith to threaten him and tell him that he's joining the Ravens for a Winter Break training camp. Jean is doing the most anyone has ever done not to laugh right now.

Riko only realizes his mistake when he's finished threatening Smith with his father and Smith ruins it. Smith is elated to have somewhere to stay over winter break. He can't mention he has nowhere to go so he'd thought he'd spend the break homeless. Now here comes Riko Moriyama inviting him to a camp where room and board will be provided?

What a nice guy. To thank him Smith compliments the gains he's noticed on Riko's ass. "The squats are really helping you, or are you doing something else?" he asks.

What the fuck is Riko supposed to do? ADMIT THAT HE FUCKED UP? Tell Smith that he's been doing squats and leg lifts before asking that he hand the tickets back and go get Neil???

Fuck that.

He'll just turn Smith against the Foxes and-

Well Riko kept talking about Smith's dead dad and so Smith may have a slight misunderstanding about the full scope of this training camp. He may think that there is some sort of seance element to it at this point and he's kind of excited at the idea of talking to his dad. "I've never spoken to a dead man before, this will be fun." and it's delivered flatly with no expression.

Riko starts to wonder if maybe Smith is the Butcher's son? Did the Butcher have two sons? He's sweating all the sudden.

It does not help that Smith brings a Ouija board to camp or that his dad was a legit Butcher before he died so Riko's tentative questioning only sends him further into an anxious mess about if Nathan had twins and Riko, due to being kept away from the family business, might just not be aware of it?

Smith has a nice Christmas break.

The last scene I've got dinging around in the noggin is in Binghamton. Smith has been left behind at many a stadium at this point. There's a solid and fast rule.

Neil cannot get on the bus without Smith. They are buddies. This is the buddy system. So when the riot starts and Neil seems to be getting pulled away in the crowd?

Well Smith grabs his hand and pulls him towards the bus, "Buddy system."

The bus starts and they're on their way shortly after. Neil's an anxious wreck but that next morning he wakes up to the news that the Butcher of Baltimore died in an FBI raid the night before as well as his men.

Smith watches the news with Neil, "Wow, that's scary." as he sips some orange juice.

GMMTV 2024 part 1 - review

another year, another lineup, another post that no one asked for dhkgdf

But here are my thoughts on the announced shows from today (in order of announcement, BLs are marked with a 🏳️‍🌈, personal favorites are marked with a 🌟):

My Precious The Series: This project has been lingering around for 4 years now since it was announced and I'm tired lmao why are they making this into a series now??? I have many questions. I never had any desire to watch the movie, it seems like a generic coming of age drama oozing with unnecessary nostalgia so it's a pass for me. .

Ploy's Yearbook (🌟): I like this one!!!! It's giving I'm Tee Me Too but with a female ensemble cast, all of which are fantastic and also the rest of the cast is very promising and we're in for a lot of new ships - I was hoping Earth and the other 30yr olds would finally be free of the blue shorts but maybe this the last one 🤡 but anyway yes I will definitely be tuning into that one 👍🏻 .

We Are (🏳️‍🌈): I'm just gonna go ahead and assume this is the WabiSabi show because it looks terrible. Like how lazy do you have to be to just throw a bunch of BL side- and 1 mainstream couple into the same show with the most basic plot you can think of like what a joke?? WinnySatang are another side couple in this so either they're getting their actual debut show in part 2 or this has all been a scam lol. I expected a lot more, same goes for AouBoom and MarcPawin, who I was hoping would maybe get a comeback show. Also PondPhuwin going from NLMG to this is.... a choice. Don't wanna judge too fast but the trailer made it seem like no effort went into this at all. Hoping for a better end result. .

The Trainee (🏳️‍🌈): Oh look!!! It's OffGun show number 6 lmao rip. I'm not gonna comment on this matter again, I guess they'll just be around forever and that's that lmao. But anyway I'm a little confused by this show, the premise seems fun but?? I have questions lol. I'm excited to see View and Piploy though and I'll just keep an open mind. .

Only Boo (🏳️‍🌈): How did we go from Only Friends to Only Boo lmao what a downgrade. I wanted an all-newbie BL and I'm excited to finally see some new faces but I guess I fooled myself into anticipating a setting that's not highschool lmao. This is another show that I'm clearly too old for but it's also the MSP of 2024 and that ended up being nicer than expected so maybe this will be the same. We shall see. .

Pluto (🏳️‍🌈 🌟): I'm 😭😭😭 This was such a huge surprise I'm still shook lmao. Namtan and Film is not only a couple I never expected in 432 years lmao but also a very strong combination in terms of acting and I'm SO into it. They're revisiting a plot about a disability which is still something I'm dreading about Last Twilight so I guess it comes down to the director again. Let's hope they do it justice. Also the twin story could be tricky, I'm getting some Not Me vibes plot-wise but regardless the trailer looks super interesting to me, also Ciize and Kapook?? YES please. I'm so hyped for this!!!! 🥺 .

On Sale (🌟): Ghostbusters but make it TayNew? I love it lol this looks so fun, I'm very intrigued. I wasn't a huge fan of New before but he climbed up the ladder with The Warp Effect real fast because he undeniably excels at playing awkward goofy characters and this looks like another chance for him to showcase that lol. Him and Tay have always worked better as a comedic duo for me so I'm actually excited that this will be more of a bromance situation lol. Also Mook and Jan are excellent additions so I will be watching this for sure!! .

Ossan's Love Thailand (🏳️‍🌈, remake): I have very mixed feelings about this, I have not seen the original show but from what I've gathered, this does not seem fitting for EarthMix, also is it really necessary to remake another Japanese BL? But this is coming from someone who's not exactly a JBL connoisseur so I guess I'm biased. It seems that after MLC they became enthusiastic about the idea of casting EM in more mature roles which I endorse very much but aren't the people in the OG literally 40 💀 idk I'm curious to see what they make of it and also if we will ever get to see a trailer because we all know how that went with Cherry Magic lol. oh well. .

My Golden Blood (🏳️‍🌈🌟): Well well well. what do we have here. This is for sure the biggest surprise since Be My Favorite lmao I can't believe Gawin is bringing yet another retired BL actor back from the dead and this time it's supernatural kjdhgd. The vampire genre is something I never thought GMMTV would take on but like?? I'm excited?? I'm so happy to see my boy Gawin in another main role and Joss is such an interesting partner but he fits the genre very well imo lol. Also Neo and Mond?? I'm so ready. Hoping for a release around Halloween next year for obvious reasons lol ✌🏻 .

Kidnap (?): Another show another confusion lmao this looks like Double Savage 2.0 to me, Ohm is caught in another mafia situation but this time not with his brother but with someone who's either a bro or a 💖 bro 💖 lmao but this smells like bromance to me. Ohm would never. And besides that I'm not really intrigued. next. .

Summer Night: This is kinda strange because everything about this seems like a BL but... it's not? the first 30 seconds had me convinced PhuwinDunk were gonna be the new thing on the block lmao but yeah apparently not. If I squint my eyes I would think this is Hidden Agenda 2 but with more girls lol and tbh I expected another JD series but regardless the plot seems a bit generic to me so I'm on the fence about it for now. .

Wandee Goodday (🏳️‍🌈): This looks like the Walmart version of Only Friends tbh but guess what I'm on board lmao. It's AllThis Entertainment's new project which means no Eclipse Season 2 (thank god). Great and Inn are a pair I did not see coming and tbh I did not expect Great to even take on a BL role to begin with but I'm intrigued! The director has been moving on a vast spectrum of different genres lately and this is another one that's completely different from their previous works. But I'm excited. It looks kinky and violent. perfect. .

Highschool Frenemy: All I'm seeing is people beating each other up and calling each other friends afterwards so yeah. not my thing. next. .

My Love Mix-Up (🏳️‍🌈, remake): I'm not a huge fan of this, not just because I didn't like the original but because I was hoping to see GemFourth in a different setting. I'm confident they can do it justice though and deliver a good outcome, especially regarding the comedy, but other than that this isn't going on my watchlist for now. .

conclusion: this was a wild rollercoaster lol, every trailer was a stressful game of Het, Gay or Bromance lmao - The majority of this lineup was not to my liking but then again I appreciated the variety because from puppy love highschool romance to gay vampires is a spectrum you really can't complain about lmao. My 2 highlights for now are Pluto and My Golden Blood simply because they're both a massive surprise that they kept very well hidden lol, I'm also intrigued by Wandee Goodday and Ploy's Yearbook because those have great ensemble casts.

One thing I'm missing from the BL lineup though is a genuine romance, something that's deep and genuine and more mature. What they announced seems fun but for the most part either silly or drowned out by 32 couples at the same time lol. so I really hope we will get something a little more serious that also talks about lgbt issues in part 2; Something like Be My Favorite would be nice, maybe minus the supernatural element.

I did not expect them to announce 15 series already, considering this is only part 1 so who knows what part 2 will bring. I'm expecting FK to make an appearance as well as PerthChimon since they are the only 2 couples that have not shown up, also possibly JoongDunk because I can't imagine they would separate them just yet. Looking forward to December! ✌🏻

Author's notes: Yes, I did come up with names for all eight of Conductor's grandkids (all names except Grooves, Conductor and Roxie are grandkids in this part). And yes, Roxie and Conductor finally talk about feelings (this doesn't seem like much to you but it's EVERYTHING to me). Enjoy!

Claudia jabbed him in the side and Conductor flopped over dramatically.

"Ah! No! You killed me!" He exclaimed, causing all of his grandchildren to laugh.

Roxie chuckled from her seat on the other side of the room, occasionally looking up from her book.

"Ow, please don't pull my hair," Grooves winced.

Conductor sat back up, reaching over and detangling Elliott's claws from the penguin's hair.

"Play nice. Now, what d'you say?" Conductor asked, carrying the little owl back towards the floor.

"Sorry," Elliot mumbled before scrambling out of Conductor's hands and over to a couple of his siblings.

"They're so adorable," Grooves mused.

Conductor smiled softly as he looked over at where Diane and George had fallen asleep cuddled up together.

"I can't wait to see what they do when they grow up," Conductor replied, loud enough for Roxie to hear. "I hope they know that I'll always be proud of them. And that I would never be upset with them for not doing the sort of job that I did."

Grooves lay down on his front as Michael climbed up the back of Grooves' coat, the young owl giggling as he went on - what was to him - an adventure.

"Um, sorry, is it okay for me to go and make myself some coffee?" Grooves asked.

"Sure, go ahead," Roxie responded.

Grooves slipped off his coat, carefully moving out from under it before getting up and leaving the room.

"You like Grooves, huh?"Conductor looked over at Roxie, who had put her book down.

"Don't know what you're on about," Conductor mumbled, watching as Michael settled down on Grooves' coat.

"Hey. I'm not blind. I can see love when it's blatantly in front of me," Roxie retorted, walking across the room and sitting cross legged in front of him. "I'm not going to judge."

Conductor sighed. "It just feels strange. I haven't felt this way since-"

"Since Mum."

Conductor nodded defeatedly.

"She would be happy for you," Roxie said quietly, picking up Alice as the little one tapped against her leg.

"You think so?"

"Peck, yes. Mum loved you and always wanted what was best for our family. She'd be happy that you found someone you're happy with." Roxie reached out and took hold of his hand. "You and Grooves seem nice together."

Conductor smiled, dropping his head as he tried to keep from smiling.

"Plus, I saw that clip on the TV and there was nothing platonic about any of it."

Conductor sat back up, laughing. "Haven't you ever heard of acting?"

"Yeah, you tried to make me love it when I was a kid, remember?" Roxie laughed, standing back up.

"Anyway, I need to check on Jason and Florence. They never nap for that long so I'm going to check on them," Roxie explained, exiting the room.

Grooves walked back into the room as she left, sitting down on the floor again and passing Conductor a warm mug of coffee.

"Thanks," Conductor said, leaning over and resting his head on Grooves' shoulder.

"Roxie seems really nice."

"She's a great kid. I'm so proud of her."

"You've told her that?"

"As much as I can."

summary: Ayan infiltrates the Suppalo school to try and figure out what happened to his uncle who commited suicide after working there. There he meets Akk, the head of the student prefects who has it in for him, while also hiding a secret of his own.

grade: 8/10

pros:

- the acting was amazing from everyone involved. I’ve been a fan of first & khaotung since their first roles so I didn’t expect anything less from them but they were incredible, there was not one moment where their acting felt off, and it was especially great to see khaotung in such an unexpected role for him that’s actually great for once! another great surprise is also neo, who was finally allowed a more serious role & did great, and also louis whom I had only seen in one role before and had a very solid performance. aj, my underrated fave for years, was also great just like ploy. basically everyone did amazing & I loved this cast :)

- I loved that this show tackled the difficulties linked with figuring out your sexuality & coming out, especially in relation with being lower class, even though I wish it would’ve been made a bit more clear that the reason akk is super closeted & also follows suppalo rules so blindly is bc he’s the only one in his family with a hope of going to university & would get a scholarship from being the head prefect. but in general, it was nice to see a bl show acknowledge sexuality & homophobia. while I do like the escapism of bl shows that pretend like those topics don’t even exist, I also think there is something more touching & heartwrenching to having them get explored. it’s also more realistic while still having a happy, positive queer story in the end so imo there’s only good things to gain from it.

- the overall story’s message was great, and fits well with other high school thai dramas that tackle corruption (which I’ve made video for here.) I also ESPECIALLY liked that the bringers of change are effeminate gay men, bc those kinds of characters have been mocked & ridiculed for far too long in thai dramas. but here they’re brave, iconic, and have otherwise fulfilling lives with a great friend group & also boyfriends. honestly I would have loved to see even more of them but this positive portrayal of effeminate gay men was really important imo, and one of the great aspects of this series which tackled more queer topics in general. but apart from that, I just really liked the message of this series for almost every character, and it worked really well for me.

- the chemistry was really great, which is not surprising since I’ve never seen first & khaotung have bad chemistry with literally ANYONE. as for neo & louis, you can tell they’ve matured as a ship & they feel more grounded and better overall than in futs. the ships were really compelling, especially akkayan who worked fantastic in my opinion!

- this is kinda small & random, but I REALLY appreciated akkayan not breaking up once they got together. literally EVERY OTHER bls (even ones I adore) love breaking up the ship before the final climax of the show to add drama, but here I really loved that even when akk wanted to pull away, ayan never let him. they also took a bit longer than other ships to get together & felt very sturdy thanks to it, which made this high school ship feel more mature & beautiful imo.

cons:

- from the beginning of the show, I’ve felt like the pace was a bit weird & the ending was gonna be unsatisfying, for a good reason: the whole investigation plot & all the drama surrounding suppalo felt very much like it was thrown in there so akkayan could meet (because it WAS!) throughout the show, while the romantic relationship had a good pace imo, the suppalo storyline was barely acknowledged at all & most of it is spent on protest scenes that end up all feeling & looking the same in the end. bc of that, not only are the suppalo-focused moments kinda boring, but it also meant that the show had to settle everything in the two last eps, which is why ep 11 was just plot twist after plot twist & led to plot holes and overall insatisfaction from the viewers. all of that to say that the writing is in big part to blame for that, and I wish it would’ve gone differently bc the show could’ve been even better if it had.

- thua as a character, man. he was one of my favorites & was ruined in ep 11. having a queer character who’s been bullied his whole life for being gay outing others for literally no reason felt worse than other outing scenes in shows by straight characters bc DAMN, how are you gonna betray your own like that ;_; and then having him never apologize but everything goes back to normal the next day?? HELL NO. he should’ve been called out by akk & apologized to him, and akk should’ve had an explanation scene with kan & wat as well. this whole part of the episode just... sucked, and ruined kanthua for me.

- that bl short film concept was wacky af I’m sorry... I already didn’t love certain fanservice scenes towards the beginning of the show but THAT??? didn’t fit in tonally with the show at all & added absolutely nothing to it.

- for a show called the eclipse, there wasn’t a lot of eclipsing. it might sound like I’m nitpicking but???? the eclipse was literally one second long????? and it had no fucking purpose at all????? like how random for being the fucking title of the show though :’) I just wish the eclipse would’ve been incorporated into the show more, for example from the first mock trailer I thought the eclipse was tied to the suppalo curse, so I think they could’ve played into that more.

would I rewatch it: sure :)

This was in the top 5 of the shows I was most excited for this year, and while it wasn’t perfect I really enjoyed it & what it stood for. I still recommend as it’s a nice little show :)

“They’re good for each-other.”

No matter how hard Thexan tried to dodge the rumour mill on campus, he still heard more than he wanted (mostly courtesy of Arcann, who seemed to have an ear to the ground at all times. The struggles of having a twin in the arts programs.). Still, some of it was interesting to listen to and quietly judge.

And some of it, he had a front row seat to – especially where his and Arcann's neighbours were concerned. Theron and Jonas seemed to have known each other since high school, and somehow hadn't killed each other yet. Although with how many girls Jonas kept bringing back to their room, kicking Theron out in the process, Thexan suspected there was going to be a murder before the Christmas break.

"No way," Arcann refuted Thexan's theory with a little smirk. "It gives Theron an excuse to go hang out in Xaja's room."

And that was the other bit of drama that Thexan could watch every day. How could Xaja not realize that Theron, obvious idiot that he was, had eyes for the petite redhead from the sociology program?

"For that matter," Thexan pointed out as he looked up from his textbook on Middle Eastern diplomacy, "how does that nerd not realize Xaja's got a crush on him? It's so obvious!"

"You are in no place to call anyone a nerd, Mister Political Science Major," Arcann retorted, not looking up from his own book on Michaelangelo. "But I agree. They're idiots."

"They're good for each other," Thexan said, after flipping his brother off. "And I think they know it. Subconsciously, anyway."

Arcann glanced up. "What, are you double-majoring in psychology now?"

Thexan rolled his eyes, then looked up with a little frown at a muffled, frustrated-sounding exclamation from the dormitory hallway. "Ahh, sounds like Theron's getting kicked out again."

"Really?" Arcann set his book down, then got up and moved over to the door.

"Arcann! You're not twelve, dammit!" Thexan hissed as his twin started to crack the door open.

"Shh!" Arcann hissed, peeking out of the door. "Yep, that's Theron," he whispered back to Thexan. "And… yep, there he goes, knocking on Xaja's door."

"Is this part of Jonas' evil plan to wingman for Theron?" Thexan asked, curious despite himself. "Make him spend time with a pretty girl he caught feelings for?"

Arcann snorted. "Okay, door's opening – and yep, Xaja's home. And… there we go, they're talking, Xaja's laughing, and–" He suddenly jerked back, eyes wide. "... Oops."

"Did they catch you?" Thexan asked with a grin.

".... Maybe."

A muffled "Fuck you too, Arcann!" came through the door, in Theron's definitely-annoyed voice.

Arcann poked his head back out the door. "Buy me a drink first!" he called back. Through the wall, Thexan swore he heard a muffled laugh from Torian in the next room over.

Theron muttered something unintelligible, but probably rude, at Arcann, then there was the sound of a door clicking. Arcann stepped back into his own room, grinning. "Well, they're still together, and I'm pretty sure Kira is off at the gym, so…"

"You'd make a terrible spy," Thexan pointed out. "And you do make an awful wingman. 'Buy me a drink first'?"

Arcann paused. "... I probably should have said something about how Xaja probably would have objected," he slowly said. "... But then she probably would have murdered me, while blushing like an emergency light. The short ones like her are always the scary ones."

"Chicken," Thexan said with a grin.

"Asshole," Arcann muttered. "Maybe this'll be the day Theron finally asks her out?"

Thexan snorted. "And maybe Jonas will decide to become a monk. Maybe you should switch to journalism and put all your theories in the school paper."

"Nah, Lana's already doing that." Arcann grinned and sat back down, pulling his textbook into his lap again. "Your politics classes not giving you any ideas for how to wingman two idiots?"

"If they did, I would have used them already." Thexan tilted his head in thought. "But maybe I'll read ahead in the syllabus and see if anything can be applied to this…"

"Yeah, you're a bigger nerd than the computer geek we're trying to set up."

Any other autistics left confused by live action media?

I rarely ever watch live action movies, but generally I have a hard time telling what is good acting, and what is bad acting (unless it is hilariously bad acting, like in twilight).

Often I will watch a live action movie and quite enjoy it, only then to afterwards read bad reviews. Or - alternatively, I will not recognise how amazing the acting was.

A moment that made me realise this recently was I watched the Moon Knight series. I really enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong. But then I was surprised when I watched ‘Cinema Therapy’ on Youtube cover it, and give the main actor (Oscar Isaac) extremely high praise for his acting. Nothing told me his acting was bad, I enjoyed watching him. But nothing clicked in my head to tell me that his acting was really super good, either.

I’m fairly certain that this... phenomenon(?) occurs because I don’t know body language or facial expressions (or even tone of voice) well enough to be able to judge someones acting. I often find it difficult or impossible to actually immerse myself in live action because all I can see is actors on a set.

I think this is a major reason as to why I (and a lot of other autistics) really prefer animated media. Watching real people interact in live action media is not nearly as engaging or clear to me.

In animated media, expressions are over-exaggerated, which makes it a lot easier for me to keep up. The amount of live-action scenes I’ve watched where the two actors are uncomfortably staring at each-other for extended periods of time is countless. Only for me to then realise later on that the scene was supposed to be romantic? Or even a respectful gaze? I cannot interpret those scenes AT ALL. No clue what’s happening. Then all the allistics go ahead and praise the wonderful acting. I’m just thinking “what happened?”. During scenes like this I always turn to my boyfriend and ask “what was happening there? I don’t get it.”

I think I also really like child-directed cartoons and animated media because there is often exposition. People like to make fun of exposition because to them, how the character should be feeling is obvious. But to me exposition is genuinely helpful and doesn’t bother me at all in most cases.

There are some live action shows that are more enjoyable to me because they are more clearly expressive, or plot based. But those are generally orientated to children/teens too. Think media like Harry Potter, Wednesday or Marvel movies. All of these kinds of media are pretty clear-cut on how characters are feeling. Usually because the show has a lot of other selling points to rely on (interesting characters, unique worldbuilding, special effects, plot twists, mysteries). Things like romantic comedies and drama pieces have never appealed to me because the core of their shows (good acting to convey complex emotions, in a subtle way) is literally inaccessible for me. I cannot consume that type of media and understand it at all.

Another interesting thing for me to note with live action VS animated media is gore (feel free to skip this bit if talking about gore is triggering to you, however it’s not graphic). Watching violence in live action media makes me extremely uncomfortable. I feel sick and want to run away. (There are a few exceptions where the gore is clearly fake and supposed to be funny, like in the recent film “Violent Night” (a pretty funny movie about a stuipidly violent Santa). But, in contrast, with animated media, I can watch the most bloody, horrible and violent scenes and feel nothing. Or just observe how good the animation is.

So yeah, basically TLDR; I love cartoons and don’t understand live action media because autism.

K: At first, when Olympics or other competitions were shown on TV, I watched just fragments, thinking "It's so awesome!". But when you watch them on TV, they don't show you how the skaters prepare themselves for their skate. When you watch the competition live in person, the amount of additional information you get makes you go "Ah!" when you watch the performance. Because there is beauty there, they don't show you on TV.

Y: Absolutely.

K: So, after you have seen something like that, as a creator you wonder how to make use of it, how to channel it into your work. When a lot of these feelings accumulate in you, they then transform into this creative drive, because you want to use that in your work. They are given a specific shape and reach other people... I think it's so amazing, that [thanks to Yuri!!!] there are people who now actually want to watch competitions live, or want to try figure skating.

Y: Another thing I want to say is that I think that figure skating is a sport in which you can't rate a skater's performance by comparing it to another skater's performance. This is actually how the judging works in this sport too, I believe.

K: Real-life scores and the scores that we see in the anime are very different and the competitions during which the scores were achieved are different too, so it's impossible to compare them. I think that one of the good things [about the story being fictional] is that based on how you interpret it, or on which fragments of the story you focus on, you can see a different story. However, there were also opinions that we should "stop comparing fictional characters and skaters who work hard in real life", under the influence of anime. So, what kind of role will this show play in the future, there was no other option for us but to leave it to the viewers to decide.

Y: Hm? Stop comparing?

K: So when people who watched the anime, now watch real-life figure skating, right... The level of that one competition was so high that even we were surprised it was actually higher than in the anime, remember? So there were a lot of comments on the internet like "Real-life skater had 5 quads in his program, so he's better than Victor!" [Note: It was about Chen]. I simply was very surprised and really happy for him, but because I know the composition of jumps in Victor's program, I posted a comment explaining that if we compare just the base values, Victor still won, without thinking too much about it. [In response to that comment] among other things I was told "Stop comparing real life and anime". I know that the way I worded that comment was wrong, and I too thought that "yeah, you're right here…". I think that to make the story interesting, we just had to set it one step ahead of reality… But because the anime got so popular, there is this question, how will people who have watched the show now view the reality? This show had me wondering many times what actually is the meaning of creating a story with such a deep connection to reality.

Y: Meaning…huh.

Pitch: A Frog Prince story. Lots of kissing. Lots of cute boys.

My expectations: The Itch page boasts, ">150,000 words!" which sounds more like a threat to me. There's no way I'm reading all of that in time for a review. Another choice quote from the description: "No furries! Don't let the title fool you!" If you're concerned people are going to be misled by the title, maybe dig into your >150,000 words for a different title, rather than hoping they'll click on the game and look for clarification.

Review:

Lucy is a veterinary intern.She still has more to learn, but she knows that the pets her clinic treats might carry diseases. She knows there’s a strict policy against kissing the patients. When she was younger, she loved to kiss her pet hamster. Muscle memory is a powerful force, so who could blame poor Lucy for getting swept up in the moment and laying one on the irresistible Hamchop?

Lucy’s magical kiss reverts Hamchop to his true form, a naked, hunky, anime prince named Edmund. He doesn’t know why he turned into a hamster centuries ago, but he knows he’s not alone. He once saw a cat who was certainly more than a cat.

Thus begins Lucy’s quest to kiss more animals and collect more anime hunks. It’s stupid, but it’s a stupid story told well.

The hunks aren’t the most fleshed-out characters in all of literature, but there’s more to them than I expected, and I love how they play off one another. Political debates between an early-’80s anarchist and an old-world monarch? Hot tub truth-or-dare that leads to everyone correcting each other over gender roles and attitudes toward “reefer?”

Don’t judge Animal Lover by its fluffy appearance.

+ Every character is unique, layered, and likeable. + The ensemble works well together. Their relationships with each other are all natural and nuanced. + The overarching mystery isn't takes a backseat to character moments, while still being taken seriously. I always wanted to know what would happen next. + Pacing could be tighter, but considering how few poses these men have, and how much time they spend in a small set of static environments, I thought I'd quickly get sick of looking at this game. There are just enough character entrances and exits, scene changes, insert shots, and musical cues to stave off boredom.

– Five men is a lot of men. I love them all, but even the game acknowledges that no one should be responsible for that many people. – When Lucy's introduced, she tells us that her defining character trait is that she hates lying. When she meets the hamster prince, she immediately hides him and then lies to her boss. It's non-stop secrets and lies with Lucy. Each time she confesses the truth, people surprise her by being totally cool, but she continues to lie at every opportunity, and for what? Cheap, stupid drama? No, thanks. – I was, on average, 45 minutes ahead of every twist in the story. – I played through the first nine chapters, which took about three hours. I then rapidly clicked and speed read up to chapter 15 (another 45 minutes). I don't know if I'm anywhere near the end. It would benefit from being a bit leaner.

Bottom Line: While I don't find much allure in the promise of shirtless cartoons, the rapport between this cast of dorks hooked me, and their ridiculous story kept me engaged for hours—though I admit, I hit my limit before reaching the conclusion. As traditional, linear visual novels go, this might be the best I've reviewed, but it still left me feeling like my time would have been better spent reading a book or watching a movie. If you think you'll like it, you're probably right.

Luz's good-intentioned desires to meddle with and 'fix' amity and willow's friendship makes a parallel to the blight's prior meddling that broke it for several years

1. Hmm, an interesting point! Amity definitely has some issues with people meddling in her business and invading her privacy, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that stems at least partly from her parents meddling in her business and invading her privacy. Of course, as you’ve mentioned, the defining difference here is intention: since Luz intended to bring people together rather than tearing them apart, the end result was much happier for everyone involved.

2. Good point; it took both Luz’s proactivity and Amity’s knowledge of the past to restore Willow’s mind. Teamwork, indeed!  

3. Yeah, it makes perfect sense that Amity would be most drawn in by Luz’s positive attitude. She doesn’t really have a lot of that in her life! 

Luz defies conventions and doesn’t seem to worry all that much about what others think of her, and that’s a mindset that Amity’s likely been locked out of for a long time. She has to be concerned about how others perceive her, she has to act in the way her family and the people around her require of her. 

But with Luz, all of that stuff doesn’t seem to matter so much. No wonder Amity’s got that little crush. 

4. To be honest, I didn’t even consider the possibility that Luz might be referring to King or Hooty there - my first thought was that the “night critters” were related to Eda warning Luz and King in Episode 2 to come back before dark?

And yeah, that mental image is pretty fun!

5. A concerning stance, but definitely on-brand for Luz! 

6. Oooh, I actually didn’t catch that one! That’s an interesting thought; I wonder if Luz was able to get away with not drawing the glyph because she was in Willow’s mind and the regular rules of glyph magic didn’t apply there, or if it’s actually possible to use glyph magic without explicitly drawing out the full glyph if you’ve practiced it enough? 

I’ll have to keep an eye out for how Luz casts spells in future episodes...

7-8. As I’ve mentioned before, I love how Luz and Amity’s dynamic is developing. Amity can be open with Luz in a way she can’t really be with anyone else -  there’s a lot of baggage with both her family and her current friend group, not to mention her one real friend, and despite the drama that’s cropped up in many of her interactions with Luz so far, that baggage just... doesn’t exist between them. 

It does seem quite likely that Amity still sometimes worries that Luz will judge her if given reason to, since one of the most plausible explanations for why she was avoiding the birthday memory was that she didn’t want Luz to see what she’d done (especially following Luz’s reaction to her burning the photos). But Luz proved her wrong many times over by being, well, the opposite of judgmental throughout the episode, so perhaps she’s starting to let go of some of that worry... 

...especially since Willow also proved her wrong in the end, about that implied assumption that there was no salvaging their friendship. 

9. Ohh, that’s very interesting... I don’t think it quite clicked while I was initially watching the episode that Amity wasn’t consciously invoking her memory of what happened, but looking at how the whole situation plays out, it does make sense! 

It looked as though Inner Willow was already manipulating the space in that memory (which actually leads me to wonder if the memory was originally supposed to cover the moment featured in the photo, and Inner Willow just skipped ahead to the part where everything went wrong...) so perhaps that allowed Amity’s subconscious mind to insert her own memory into the space, even though they were technically in Willow’s mind and not hers..? 

All of this raises a lot of questions about how these mindscapes work, and I’m not sure if we’re going to get any answers, but it’s certainly fun to speculate on!

I suspect entp over enfp though as I find his movies completely lack a feelers touch. Like death in a Tarantino movie is treated In a rather flippant way. I’m not judging though. Just making an observation that makes me lean entp over enfp.

what he said in that video is a %100 absolute objective fact. we can ONLY say an intuitive can reach that conclusion "faster" and in a "riskier" way by making jumps between adjacent dots guessimating and this means a sensor can also get there but slower, without jumping too much ahead, without assuming the unknown.

that’s what intuition, especally ne is. jump from dot 1 to dot 3 to dot 7 and guess. sometimes you are right, sometimes you are wrong.

for some people it will take 10 movies to figure out the fact "good, complex, unfolding stories are better". and for others 20 or let’s say even 25 doesn’t matter at all.

if we are not in a time race to figure out the formula of a conceptual puzzle of sorts, sensors will just catch up. and AGAIN, intuition jumps always comes with the chance of loss in accuracy.

sometimes the pattern is misleadingly simple "at the beginning". imagine these numbers one by one appear and you need to guess the next.

1,2,3,4,10,11,12,13...

if you jump ahead and say 5 after 4 you get rekt and that's where "actuality" beats intuition.

even though tarantino says these kind of things, pretty much every scene in his movies are action packed or drama filled or impactful or intense which i’d associate with se.

he explores ethical themes in a very intense way which is very compatible with SeFi. that ww2 (i think) movie of his and the scene where american soldiers killed that nazi or whatever?

Take some time and watch when you have a chance. There is a lot of romance and not a lot of comedy, but it wasn’t very dark themed. I only really had to skip 4 episodes and it had a really good ending that makes you want to know more. I mean really how many times can you fall for the same tricks?Īt anyrate this drama is long but it has some cool fights, and keeps you interested because it seems to move at a good pace. The female lead kind of got annoying with her flawless trust in everyone who shook her hand getting her into situations where she nearly dies. The palace maids are shady, the eunuchs need bribing and all of the concubines are scheming to get their kids ahead of the rest. No matter how much I liked the leading couple the plots were essentially the same as all other historical dramas. The acting was poor for most characters but the main actors seemed to nail it. Get ready for a lot of overacting, fake laughter, bad hair pieces, backstabbing and just melodrama. This is one of the very first times I have ever seen a lead couple trust and be completely honest with each other- I thought it was wonderful. I also really liked how it showed the two main characters loving each other and spending time together. I really enjoyed how the main female lead was head strong the whole time, and how she was inventive. The working theory is that this chick goes back in time, inuyasha style, bringing modern ideas and a knowledge of how history will play out. As you have already read the synopsis, this drama is packed with plotting (come on the are in a palace), love triangles, misunderstandings and trickery. Anyway this a really pleasant historical treat. This really reminded me of Inuyasha, maybe a little romeo and Juliet. Rewatch Value 6.0 I have no idea why I thought this drama was going to be a Chinese version of “Goong” one of my fav manwha turned drama. They were all very believable characters.Ī must watch for every one who enjoys historical dramas!!! I also liked that the females here were all far away from being silly, naive and spoiled. All in all I think i like chinese traditional clothes better than the korean but that hair ornamentation. This was my first Chinese historical drama and I had to get used to the difference after being used to historical k dramas. With the Qing Chuan Doppelgaenger, I really feel that was not a necessary episode.Īnyhow I thought all the tiny side stories of some characters were well interwoven with the plot and made the whole drama richer and more complete. In some episodes you can really feel the artificiality of the script. And the intrigue was getting slightly out of control. Sometimes the scipt was just a bit lengthy. The directors and producers put a lot of effort into this drama and the result truly reflects the passion they must have had making this series. But also as far as locations and sets were concerned and the costumes were so detailed and beautiful. the whole range really.īut the Royal Consorts, Princes, Ministers, Eunuchs, Palace maids. Playing the two may male leads (8th and 4th prince) they excelled at playing intrigue, ambition, hate, cruelty, love, cold heartedness, softheartedness. She was able to portray Qing Chuan so well with all her different facets.įeng William and He Mickey were just unbelievable. Yang Mi (Qing Chuan) was probably my favourite character. Every single one of them did a brilliant job. And while we start out hating some and liking others, the story convincingly takes us to other perspectives, different problems and we may just change our minds about some of them or at least find it harder to judge them in terms of black and white. Over the course of 39 episodes there was room enough to develop every character. I loved how all the Princes were portrayed with different characteristics, worries, goals, dreams, faults. While the emperor's sons struggle for favour in court and for the position of crowned prince Qing Chuan is right in the middle of it all.

The story is full of love, hate, revenge, intrigue! And we follow her meet the great Emperor and his numerous sons. Qing Chuan gets zapped back to the Qing dynasty. Story: A beautiful Chinese time traveller story. Hence, you'll just watch on and on and the 39 episodes just fly by! But after ep1 the director made very efficient use of cliffhangers. I have to admit 39 episodes are somewhat of a challenge. Rewatch Value 3.0 Chinese dramas are often neglected in this whole kdrama wave.

kinda went crazy with this but who cares? not me 🤷‍♀️

• okay so it’d start out with you moving to Woodsboro at the kind of the middle of the school year. You had your first class with Billy and Stu and neither of them were really paying attention until the teacher had you introduce yourself. Your small voice and stuttered out response peaked at least Billy’s attention, and lucky for you, there was a spot open next to him.

• you had worn basically all pastels and had your hair clipped back with these cute strawberry barrettes. You looked so… how to put it… easy. He watched as you walked to the empty chair besides him. Once the teacher dismissed the class to do their work, Billy immediately turned to you.

• so? you’re new right? Where you movin’ from so late in the semester?”

• you tell him where you’re moving from and just a lame excuse for your parents job. “well, y/n is it? this class is pretty hard especially if you’re so behind, but Stu and I, we can help you out.” He says it in that smooth voice he has and you couldn’t help but get flustered at it, which he noticed.

• “i don’t know you guys.” you shake your head. Billy takes notice on your jewelry, all pretty colored gems and beads, perfect match to your clothes and shoes.

• “Well I’m billy, this is Stu. And we could always meet somewhere public if your uncomfortable.” again with that damn smooth voice. The way he sounded made you think on it for a second. But then you smiled.

• “Well haven’t you watched a scary movie before, Billy? that’s always how the first girl dies.” You shake your head then turned back to the front, deciding to do the best you could on the work given. Stu giggles at Billy before billy gives him a death stare.

• the next time they see you, the three of you are at the video store. Billy saw you through the window as he was walking in, he expected you to be in the romance or drama section, but no, here you were, horror section, browsing through the movies.

• billy just watched you for a minute as you made faces at the movies you looked over, as if judging them for their poor quality or story line. But you disappeared before he could go over and talk to you, damn Stu making him loose his focus.

• the next time he spotted you, he was alone, so were you. the two of you were walking down the same street, you ahead and him stalking behind you. He watched intensely. Even the way you walked was just so small, as if you were afraid to be in anyone’s way as you walk down the empty side walk.

• you weren’t really doing anything, just walking, but Billy didn’t know why he felt so interested. Maybe because he wanted you to be his next kill? Maybe something else? But you made him feel something in his chest, something he didn’t like. While he was distracted in his thoughts, a man approached you.

• you, being the sweetheart you were, chose to interact with the man. Claiming that he lost his kid somewhere, and you looked like a sweet girl, could you help him out, just until he finds his baby. Billy immediately saw through this guy’s lies, he saw the man tailing you a while ago but Billy thought he was too nervous to actually do anything, turns out he was wrong.

• You however, were upset and concerned for the man, of course you’d help him find his child! Just where exactly did you loose them, maybe that’ll help? Oh, over there near that creepy white van? Okay!

• Billy rolled his eyes and decided to put a stop to the man’s intentions. Billy approached you, sliding an arm around your waist, and oh boy did that make him feel something. Who’s this babe. Babe? Oh this man lost his kid! I’m gonna help him! Help him? Sure, where’d you loose him?

• the man stuttered out an excuse about how he didn’t really need both of them, just the girl, which made you confused. “You better leave pal, go find your kid before it gets dark.” Billy says, his voice dropping the false kindness and face turning into something evil. You didn’t seem to notice though, you’re more concerned about his hand on your waist.

• “what was that for?” you asked once the man ran away. “he wasn’t actually looking for his kid.” “oh, was he looking for someone else?” “I— no, he was going to— never mind. Let’s go.” Billy grabbed your hand and dragged you away.

• he walked you home, the same way you always go after school. The two of you talked the whole way there. Well, you talked, Billy chimed in every now and then. So far, he’s learned that your favorite color is light purple and you hate the color yellow. You like wearing heels because they make you feel taller, and you hate wearing pants, which explains why he’s only seen you in skirts and shorts, and that you absolutely love cute animal videos. But Billy couldn’t help himself, he kept wanting to learn more.

• once you reached your house, you waved goodbye to Billy then went inside, he didn’t leave until he saw the light flick on in your bedroom window. Maybe he wouldn’t kill you… yet

• it was pretty soon after that you and Billy would hang out all the time, and you of course were best friends with Stu as well. You were clueless on Billy’s flirting, which would get him frustrated and Stu would laugh before getting an elbow to the gut.

• you were so clueless and it was pissing him off, to the point where when he was dropping you off one night, he practically yelled at you to go out with him. You went silent and he thought he messed up before you smiled and said he could’ve asked a little nicer before agreeing on the date, kissing him on the cheek and walking inside.

• a few weeks later and the two of you were dating. At first he did it all because he thought that your soft and cutesy personality would be a good contrast for his outward ‘bad boy’ one (completely ignoring the growing feeling in his chest) but then he learned that he actually liked you and your personality. I mean, yeah your a bit ditzy sometimes, but he actually doesn’t mind as much as it seems like he does.

• he also likes how attached you seemed to be to him once you started dating. Always holding his hand even in private, kissing all over his face and knuckles then apologizing and wiping off the lipgloss, cuddling up to him whenever he sits or lays down. Not to mention the pet names, and you come up with the most strangest cutesy names ever. He acts like it’s a problem, but no, actually keep calling him all those names, he loves that you care enough to come up with them, even if they’re on the spot. But don’t call him them in public (but actually do, please, show off that he’s yours and you’re his)

• and any thoughts of killing you went away the moment you kissed, he just couldn’t seem to pull away, but you were gasping for air, a cute pink tint on your cheeks as you looked up at him with those sweet innocent eyes, looking at the man who took your first kiss, it was adorable.

SAGAU Slice of Life 1

Author’s Note: Boredom hit me…so I wrote about that! Also-slice of life is something I greatly enjoy, even though I don’t watch it as often as I desire…anyway, I wanted fluff so I wrote-er, typed fluff. Furthermore, I love Inazuma-it’s my favorite region out of all the others-and I wanted to explore it in writing. Enjoy!

“I can’t believe it’s come to this,” you say solemnly. With a heavy heart, you slowly march towards the door. You tried everything you could to prevent it from happening, but despite your best efforts, you could not conquer the beast that was so intent on stalking you throughout the day. “Oh well, I enjoyed the peace and quiet while it lasted.”

Boredom, it seemed, was unable to be slain by staying within Tenshukaku; you had run out of Light Novels to read and you didn’t want to practice your swordsmanship, yet. Wow, just saying that made you sound like a drama queen-and not the amusing kind. 

Mentally bracing yourself, you put a hand on the wood and slide the panel open; you shield your eyes as the morning sun nearly burns them. 

With a deep breath, you step outside the palace and shut the door before observing your surroundings. The main guard, a member of the Okumuzeshuu named Takeshi, was standing tall in front of you with his back turned. He made no move to turn around and continued to stare straight ahead.

Okay let’s get this over with, a voice in your head says. Your body begins to move on its own, and you pass Takeshi, pausing to turn to greet him with a smile and a nod of your head.

“Good morning, Takeshi-san.” You place a hand above where your heart is, trying to keep your tone amiable and light. “I trust you had a good night’s sleep?”

“Of course, Your Grace.” Takeshi tapped his spear against the ground. “May I ask what you are doing outside?”

“I wanted some fresh air, and I wished to see how the city was doing. Oh, and please allow me to state that you don’t have to worry about me, I can take care of myself, Takeshi-san.”

“Very well. I hope you enjoy your time out, Your Grace.”

“Thank you. I won’t be gone long. Goodbye.” You finally turn around and begin your adventure towards Inazuma City, dropping the smile, though the edges of your lips still tugged upwards.

Ughhh talking was more exhausting than I imagined…you think to yourself. But I suppose the conversation was worth it, ignoring how brief it was.  Damn it, I don't want to do this, but sometimes you have to do what’s necessary in order to be happy, at least that’s the way it is. And in this case forcing yourself to talk to others just will be worth it. Wow, I sound like an introvert.

You exit Tenshukaku without a hitch, though you take a detour on your route to observe the Statue of the Omnipresent God. You go and enter Inazuma City, and you swivel your head around to observe the sights. 

Oguma Mio was busy talking to a client, and judging from the amount of citizens in the shop it seems that business was doing alright.

Good for her.

You noticed some kids playing a card game, and if you squinted, it was Inscryption, the game you had introduced to Ei a week ago; you briefly wondered whether or not it was doing well, but just as quickly you shook your head. Knowing Miko, she’d already devised some kind of scheme to sell many copies of it alongside some of her newest Light Novels. With a smirk, you wondered if she’d fancy a game sometime, though perhaps not too soon. 

Hmm…I’d wager she’d be an ace at Inscryption. I wonder if she’d be confident enough to even make a bet with me-ah, never mind. That’s a thought for another time.

Seemingly satisfied with your adventure so far, you make your way to a spot you knew all too well. Crossing the bridge, you immediately head to take a seat in front of a food cart that was set up next to the Adventurer’s Guild.

“Heya Tomoki. How’re you?” You smile at a man wearing a yellow men’s robe standing next to a food cart. You remember him as the one that sold Dango Milk to Ei and the Traveler in the former’s first Character Story Quest, and you had to admit that you’ve attached yourself to him. 

“Oh! Your Grace! What a surprise! I didn’t expect to see you here today!”

“Oh, well I’m happy to surprise you then, Life’s far more interesting with surprises, after all.” You cross your legs and lay your chin in your palm. “May I have a Lavender Melon Milk Tea and a Takoyaki?”

“O-of course! One Lavender Melon Tea coming right up!”

Soon you were happily munching on a warm, crisp fish-shaped biscuit while sipping from a jar full of sweet milk tea to wash it down.

Inhaling the fresh air deeply, you close your eyes as you settle yourself into the present; soon enough you feel something warm inside glow.
